Preferred Solution: bluetooth didn't work!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is it turned on ? ?

Hi, I have a windows 7. I have found the bluetooth in my computer, it says "fsquirt" aswell. When I open the file, it says send files or recieve files. So if i click on Send Files, it says " select where to send your files" with a large box under it which i cannot type in. If i press recieve files, it says " windows was unable to transfer some files, an address incompatible with the requested protocol was used.

So i dont know how to fix this!?! Help please? I'm trying to send videos from my phone to my computer via bluetooth!
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to TSG,
If you have taken anything out of startups via msconfig please go to Start Run type in msconfig click OK and click on the Startup tab. Click on Enable All then Apply and OK. Then please do the following:

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

A:DVD Burn Didn't work

Hi PepperMill and Welcome to TSF,

What application did you use?

Depending on what application you used to burn the disc, it stores the files on different locations. Some makes an ISO(Image) file of it, and some stores the raw data in the temporary files folder.

Go to Start > Search.
Type "%temp%" without the quotes > Hit ENTER.

Navigate around and see if you can find any files associated to it.

Furthermore, are you sure you weren't using an -RW drive and just didn't close it properly? Go into the application you burned from and see if you can close the drive, or add another file or so to the drive, just burn another .txt file to it.

First off, this is an awesome site with a plethora of valuable information that has been so helpful to me in the past. This is the first time i've had to post though, since i've tried EVERYTHING to get rid of the irritating Malware pop up threats like cyberlog-x, networm-i. Trojanspy w32, [email protected] and [email protected] I'm starting to get scared because my computer is slowly getting more messed up (freezing etc.) I have followed the Smitfraudfix instructions and restarted in safe mode and all that jazz. I've used Spyware Doctor, Ad-aware, Trend micro, and Spybot Search and destroy. They find stuff and fix it, but the pop up bubbles keep happening I don't know what to do. The smitfraud fix seemed to help everyone else. Plese Help! I have attached my hijackthis.log and an Ad-awarel log.

For some strange reason WAMP 64-bit would not work on Win 8. (Its fine on the Win 7 boot on the same 64-bit computer) The icon never went green. The 32-bit version works well. I had just done a Refresh but I have no idea if that's related to the problem.

My computer froze up and was giving me all kinds of problems so I decided to wipe it and start again (something I've done several times without issue).  When I got the OS booted back up, I went to install drivers.  This particular laptop doesn't have a disc drive, so I have an external one plugged in.  The problem is there's no drivers for the USB ports, SD slot, ethernet, or wi-fi.  As far as I can tell, I literally have no way whatsoever to load anything onto the computer.  Any ideas on what I'm missing?  Thanks!

A:Tried re-installing the OS... didn't work

Welcome,
You loaded the OS from an external device and are able to boot the computer, correct? If you can make a wire connection to a modem or router you should be able to configure the basic OS to see the Internet and then get all of its updates downloaded and installed. It's going to take several rounds of downloading, installing, rebooting and downloading again. Many of the updates are sequential and must be installed in order, to work correctly.
Once you have the OS up to date and the security software activated and current we can go looking for the drivers you need online.
Keep us posted

Some icons on my desktop and everything in my "All Programs" were still missing and I tried using unhide.exe to fix it. But, it didn't work; if you ask me the program did nothing. I even tried restarting after running the program but the problem is still there.

I would like some immediate help please. I'm beginning to think the files are hidden for good. I don't want that to be the case.

Thank you.

Hi. Please see the attached thread regarding malware which has stopped me logging into Windows. Following the advice I have contacted the manufacturer and obtained the OEM reinstallation and repair disk.

I have run a repair but the problem has not gone away - when I try to login the user is immediately logged off.

Please can you advise me?

A repair won't matter if you are infected. You need to ensure your HDD is clean. Have you completed the clean up in the other thread?

Hello,

I have a similar problem to that found at: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic396978.html

My Windows XP computer was infected with what I believe was the Windows Recovery virus, which I nelieve I removed using Malwarebytes. However, some icons on my desktop and everything in my "All Programs" was still either "Empty" or missing and I tried using unhide.exe to fix it. But, it didn't work.

If anyone could please help, I would be forever grateful.

Thanks,
Caitlin

I had IE7 and MSN. I decided to upgrade the IE7 to IE8 for MSN. Once I did that it says there were errors and it wouldn't work. I could still access the internet via the MSN login seperate from IE but couldn't get the IE to work. So I uninstalled IE8 and reinstalled IE7. The IE7 window opens with tool bar but it won't access web (I can still access via MSN entry).

When I attempt to open the IE7 it says "unhandled exception in 3rd party module, module ntdll.dll unicode; v.4,0,5,1
Can anyone help?

System restore might be an option if you still have a restore point prior to loading IE8

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
If I instruct you to download a specific tool in which you already have, please delete the copy that you have and re-download the tool. The reason I ask you to do this is because these tools are updated fairly regularly.
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. I had the syssecuritysite.com hijacked start page on my computer, along with the fake pop-up telling me I had to purchase their software to get rid of spyware etc. I received info on how to remove same. I was told to download SmitFraudFix, Spybot-S&D, Ewido and HijackThis. I downloaded all and was told how to proceed. I went through the steps, but was not informed to do so in SAFE mode! After I completed doing what I was told in each of the above, I restarted the computer. I no longer have the startup page, but it says "about:blank" and I can't change it on Internet Options. As well, I have high speed cable internet but it now runs slower than dial up. I have an HP Pavillion computer with AMD 3800+ processor running on Windows XP Media Edition. Can anyone help me get back online at high speed???

Hi and welcome to BC. Please perform an MBAM scan next. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Alternatively, you can update through MBAM's interface from a clean computer, copy the definitions (rules.ref) located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from that system to a usb stick or CD and then copy it to the infected machine. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.

We changed to DST this last weekend and I just now noticed my pc clock didn't make the change.
I went into the time settings and the automatic daylight savings button was greyed out and set to off.
Tried everyway I could to change it had to finally go into the registry and change the value data from 1 to 0.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation\
DynamicDaylightTimeDisabled

It is still greyed out but is on and on a reboot did change my clock to the correct time. Upon searching the net
I found this was a common problem. Is there a better fix than the one I did for this.

I think my mistake was I should of went to the Device Manager and deleted the driver for the display adapter then turn off the computer installed the new video card turned the computer back on and loaded the new drivers. Now do I need to go to control panel and under uninstall a program and deleted the display adapter from there also or just deleting it from the device manager good enough?

Please Help! I was working on a school paper and I attached it and sent it to my email so that I could work on it while I was at work. When I got home and opened my email attachment, I saved it and continued to finish my paper. When I attached it to submit to my teacher, it only sent the original draft. I am going crazy trying to find my paper!!! Is there a way to retrieve my word doc?

A:PLEASE Help!!!Word Doc didn't save new work

You've discovered a little bug in Word. When you open a Word attachment and "Save" it without specifically selecting a target path, the file is saved in a temporary folder. You can try a full drive search for the file name. Be sure to include hidden files and folders. You could also try any number of data recovery applications to try to restore it, but it may have been overwritten too many times to recover.

I'm afraid your week just became "more awful" since there is no way to retrieve your work because there is nothing to retrieve. It may be a pain sometimes, but turning on "auto save" on a worksheet prevents the loss of lots of data.

I've been having decreases performance on my laptop over the last month or so. In addition to performace issues, I have had pop-up to different websites showing up more and more often. I have scanned with malwarebytes' anti malware, and removed everything it recommended, I have full scanned with norton 360, and fixed everything it told me, same with stopzilla.
I tried the dds,and apparantly only got halfway through before it hung up. I believe i had followed the directions explicitly. The gmer did work, and I've attached the log.
The OS is windows XP.

Any other info I can provide?

or what steps should I take at this point?

thx for your help,

A:dds didn't work but gmer results are here

Greetings Tempestus and Welcome to the Forums,Your gmer log does indicate some problems. Are you certain to have disabled Symantec's script blocking feature? If not, that would explain why it didn't work for you. To disable Norton AntiVirus Script Blocking:1. Start Norton AntiVirus. If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program.2. Click Options. If you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.3. In the left pane, click Script Blocking.4. In the right pane, uncheck Enable Script Blocking (recommended).5. Click OK...then try running DDS again.Post back your results. Thanks!

I made 5 recovery DVDs with AI Recovery on my Asus U43F Notebook.  I followed the direction precisely, but after the last DVD popped out and a window popped up saying that the recovery was successful, my computer restarted itself  >  "loading windows files" progress bar  >  "starting windows" symbol for Windows 7 64bit  >  then a grey screen with a mouse arrow and NOTHING!  no prompt, no windows, no taskbar, no right-click or anything to click, What do I do now?

A:[Help] Recovery DVDs didn't work

Your DVDs could be corrupted since your laptop was corrupted and when you made the DVDs are corrupted. You need to get an exact Asus  notebook with the exact version of Win7 of not infected system. If the beginning is crooked the end is crooked, GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out).

Option 2 leave factory defaults out and clean reinstall WIN7.

I just built a new computer but I have no sound... Here are my specs...

Windows XP
ECS ELitegroup 755-A2 motherboard with on board Audio
AMD Athlon 64 2800+
Radeon 9600 XT 256MB
160 GB HDD
512 MB RAM

Now I have tried deleting the sound drivers and the reinstalling them and that does not work. I have went to the elitegroup website and downloaded their drivers, they have been unsuccessful as well. I have no exclamation points in my device settings so I have no idea what to troubleshoot now.... Please help. Thank you in advance!

A:No sound, new drivers didn't work. help!

have you connected the card with all necessary cables to the mobo or the devices? make sure your sound is not disabled from bios or from windows. check to see if the sound is not muted. if its on board, it could mean that you have to reposition some jumpers. i had to on my gigabyte to get the 6.1 to work without sounding like 2.1

I recently replaced my power source. When I turned on the machine It gave me "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"
I did a restore with the provided emachines system restore cd's,and I am still getting the message. The harddrive is being recognized in BIOS. I am running off a LINUX live cd right now.
Does anyone have any ideas? How could I check for a boot sector error on my harddisk?

I used my recovery cd, put it in drive then booted computer. It went thru this thing about setting up files, then ask me if I wanted to install or recovery console. I chose install, then repair and it started setting up windows. But after it was done and I went into windows, everything was still there. I thought it basically erased everything and put it back the way it was when you got it. But every program that has been loaded or downloaded was still there and still have the 100% cpu usage.
Thanks
Phil

A:Recovery Disk didn't work

When you selete repair it will only fix the windows files. So if you have a third party app that is causing problems a repair install will not fix it. If you want to erase everything on you machine and start from scratch you have to choose new install and format the current partitions. ***Warning*** this will erase everything on your computer so be sure to back up any important files.

Also have you tried running a spyware and virus scan? We may be able to fix the problem with out having to erase your entire machine.

ok, SO my ps2 started doing Disk Read Errors and eventually I gave up on it. I found out how to fix it by rotating the little white gear and that worked. Everything worked for a while but now my PS2 games wont run anymore. My demodisk which is a DVD-ROm runs but ATV Offroad Fury and SSX 3 wont run. I've been through every notch on the gear twice and it wont work. I put the CDS in another PS2 and they booted up perfectly. I've had my PS2 for like 2 years so I dont have warrenty (I broke the seal so warrenty's out anyway) What do I do? is there a way to adjust the angle of the lense wuthout using the gear or am I screwed?

A:PS2 DRE and gear meathod didn't work

screwed.

My 2001 PS2 has stopped playing DVDs and PS2 games for no reason and SONY is repairing it for free. (My PS2 was also out of warranty). I think it's an known issue, and SONY are willing to repair it because it might be a defect in 2001 PS2s, but if the4 PS2 you have looks tampered with, then they will charge you for the repair (or not if the rpair is more than $200.00)

Alright guys, I have just refreshed my pc because I was having numerous problems with it and it turned out to be a bad stick of RAM. However, now I am having software issues. Whenever I try to make a call on the desktop version of skype, the program crashes. Whenever I try to open HP support assistant, the program crashes. When i am using the metro app version of skype I get a weird artifacting type problem on any of the buttons. I have this same problem in internet explorer and on Netflix. Netflix will not play on Chrome. It will play on IE, but with the button artifacting problems. My computer will not pair via bluetooth with my phone. What would be your recommended course of action? I don't know where to begin. I have tried updating drivers and the like but it has not helped.

Thank you

Hi-
All of a sudden my cd/dvd drive has vanished. The door will not open when I press the button. It doesn't show up on Device Manager and it is not in BIOS either. I did not download anything that should have caused this. I tried the fixes I found on various help pages - the Doug Knox xp_cd-dvd_fix.zip did not work. I also followed the Microsoft instructions to go into the registry and delete the upper and lower filters but when I got there, there were no filters so that didn't help either. I have rebooted numerous times, both hard and soft. I have also in desperation tried pulling the plug. Nothing has worked. I suppose it could be the drive itself, but I doubt it because it has been lightly used and it should still show up on the device mgr. I am hoping someone has another suggestion. Thanks.

I figured out why it didn't work - when you kill the process with rKill.com and then turn off the proxy setting in IE, I had to leave IE open for some reason in order to update Malware bytes, otherwise I got an error message and couldn't update it - if you don't update malware bytes definitions after you install it, then it won't totally get rid of the virus.

Hi.
My computer is a HP. I don't really know the other details on it. But I got the message NTDETECT failed. So I tried to repair the system using the XP disc. That didn't take. So I tried just reinstalling the whole thing and it got to about 11% and everything after that said it couldn't be installed. It told me to press [Enter] to try again (which didn't work), [Esc] to skip, or F3 to quit. I tried skipping, despite the message that it might not end up loading correctly. and nothing else would install.
I have 3 partitions, one doesn't have enough room. I tried installing it on the 2nd partition which, from what I can tell, is where xp is currently loaded. And the 3rd one is empty but wouldn't let me install on it.
I'm not even sure what question to ask. Simply "help?" Thanks for any help you can give me.

I was creating a backup boot disk for Windows 8. first, I created a partition on my 1tb external hard drive and named it "Windows8 Boot" (F
So, now I had two drives for my external, E: and F:.
I created the backup disc on the F: as planned, but when the action completed, both drives were gone and replaced with a "Recovery" drive wich replaced the E: drive.
Also, when I go to properties for this new drive, it says that there is only 30gb available and only 11gb free.

What happened? The partition was formatted to house a recovery boot system, yet everything was wiped out. Can I get my files back? Why didn't this work as all tutorials I have read and watched said that it would? PLEASE HELP ME!

A:Partition didn't work for backup utility

The guides you looked at were wrong or they referred to making backups with the Windows backup utility but it sounds like you made a Recovery Drive. A Recovery Drive does indeed create a new bootable system that you can boot the system and recover the O/S from and it does indeed wipe out everything from the USB drive in the process. You should have used a USB stick for it not your large external hard drive as you don't need too much space and it's suppose to be stored and unused except in the event that you need to recover the system.

You can try data recovery software as Recuva or any number of other programs but at least some of the data off the external drive will be gone for good unless you have a backup.

I was trying to uninstall a software program that was having problems, but the uninstall failed. When I tried again it couldn't find the uninstall file. I tried the original instillation disk, but it didn't have an uninstall or a Fix. I tried installing again, but that wouldn't work. I finally went into program files and deleted the file. Now it is no longer on the "add / remove programs" list, but the instillation disk is still finding something. I have run ccleaner, and rebooted the computer. I have looked for any signs of the program, and can't find any. Can anyone help me. This is something I really need to have working.

Thanks

A:Infected By Spy Dawn, Smitfraud Didn't Work

Hey again!I just wanted to add and specify some info. I've used the name smitfraud in the headline and in the text, but, as you probably know, I meant smitfraudfix.I also decided to give you a more accurate description of the situation. When the pop-ups started I scanned my PC with Lavasoft. It found and removed 15 trojans rated 10 (out of ten). Then Norton antivirus full scan, found nothing.Uninstalled Spy Dawn (why do they include such an option in a Spy program, if their goal is to destroy?), and all the pop ups disappeared. The only visible track was the "System Alert" icon in the system tray.Downloaded Spybot and scanned, removed several cookies (WinsoftWare, pest trap among others) related to Spy Dawn. Then the smitfraudfix, which removed the "System Alert!" icon. (I don't know wich files it removed).Yesterday I downloaded new Lavasoft definitions and SuperAntispyware. They removed more than 20 cookies and 2 trojans related to Spy Dawn.Today I removed some files I think is related to Spy Dawn with Ace Utilities: the programs iesuninst, isunst, pmmnt and pmsnrriesplugin.dell(and 2 icons)I know Spybot (and probably others as well) categorize Spyhunter as a program which reports more errors than it really is on the PC, however all the files I've deleted today and yesterday match files Spyhunter found, so it seems like I can trust it. According to SpyHunter I've still got 50 zlob trojans on my PC and 2 zlob video access trojans. Are these trojans a large threat to me, or can't they do much? I've got a log from SpyHunter, but it contains more than 6000 words, so here's a new from Hijck this. ( I've removed about 30 spyDawn cookies, 4 programs, 1 dll and 2 trojans related to spyDawn since the first Hijack this log).Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 21:16:20, on 06.03.2007Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16414)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\Programfiler\Fellesfiler\Symantec Shared\ccProxy.exeC:\Programfiler\Fellesfiler\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exeC:\Programfiler\Norton Internet Security\ISSVC.exeC:\Programfiler\Fellesfiler\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exeC:\Programfiler\Fellesfiler\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exeC:\Programfiler\Fellesfiler\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Programfiler\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exeC:\Programfiler\Fellesfiler\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXEC:\Programfiler\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\Programfiler\Fellesfiler\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exeC:\Programfiler\Java\jre1.5.0_11\bin\jusched.exeC:\WINDOWS\stsystra.exeC:\Programfiler\filer\CyberLink\PowerDVD\DVDLauncher.exeC:\Programfiler\Dell\Media Experience\DMXLauncher.exeC:\Programfiler\Fellesfiler\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exeC:\Programfiler\Dell Photo AIO Printer 924\dlccmon.exeC:\Programfiler\Fellesfiler\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\Programfiler\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.0\Apps\apdproxy.exeC:\Programfiler\QuickTime\qttask.exeC:\Programfiler\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\Pro... A:Automated Removal For Spywarequake Didn't Work...help!

Hello. Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmdSelect option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htmthen...* Click here to download HJTsetup.exeSave HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there. At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I triedto log on to messenger Sunday May 14. It would not let me log on and gave me this error (80048883). I tried the fix about the pprlconfig.bin file, downloaded it, changed it to .dll and put it in the correct folder. I still can't log in. I don't know about "proxy" and "firewalls" and if they are preventing me from logging in, but I don't think anything changed from Saturday to Sunday. I added no new programs nor upgraded old ones. I have tried removing and reloading messenger. Nothing has worked and I can;t get a response from msn messenger support. (i did email them about this problem, but all the posts about this error are form January.) Can someone help me?

Thank you.

A:Adware/Malware solutions didn't work

Ello mate, my name is Allen and I'll be helping you today

So first off lets start by running adwcleaner which can be found here

What adwcleaner will do is scan your system for adware and remove it for you.

After that I recommend running malwarebytes antimalware to see if there is anything left you can get that here

Make sure you update the database on malwarebytes and run a full scan.

Once that's done post the logs in a reply to see what we're dealing with.

Hi- I'm not sure how to do alert members that I'm still having a problem- posting a reply to my own thread doesn't seem to be the way since I didn't get a reply. And I'm not sure how to include the previous post so I'll tell you my problem again. I know you recommended not to post a new thread but I didn't see the stickies you referred to and didn't know what else to do.

I followed JG's advice to try to delete the Beagle virus which was in quarantine and then ran the virus scan he recommended. I went back to Norton and the virus is still in virus history and shows the status as infected. But the virus scan reported that the computer has no virus. so, I don't know if I do or don't have the virus. What should I do next?

Thanks

deborah

A:BUMP:Fix didn't work for Beagle Virus

Download and try this:
http://www.f-secure.com/download-pur...ls.shtml#Bagle

If it doesn't report anything, then you should be fine other than the quarantine file. Or if you are running ME or XP you may have to turn your system restore feature off to properly remove the infection.

But if you av is running you may not be infected anymore.

When I tried to put My Documents on a CD, they didn't go on it, but the software, Sonic Record, made mulitple copies in My Documents Directory!! These documents don't show up on Windows Explorer and I can't delete many at a time from the MSWord directory where they were put; only one at a time. And there are hundreds!! Everytime I tried to copy to a CD, I got more copies in the directory! Each one is labeled, "Copy of ________." So, they're all under "C" in my directory. Am waiting for an answer before again trying to copy to a CD.

I used the Apricorn ez upgrade kit last night to clone my HD(Dell 9300). I followed the instructions to the best of my abilities. It took 6 hours for the cloning program to complete(is that normal?). It did give me the "Congrats cloning was successful" message.
I physically swapped out the drives and powered up. The black screen came up and the progress bar stopped at about 90% and I got a HD error! message.
Now I'm lost......I figure it's a cloning problem, but I wouldn't have a clue how to figure out whether that's the case or if the HD is defective.
HELP!!!!!

A:Apricorn Cloning Didn't Work - Internal Hd Error!

You should be able to download a utility at the HDD manufacturer's website to test the drive to see if it's faulty. The problem may be that Windows doesn't recognise the new HDD because the drivers etc are setup for the old drive. One way around this is to boot your computer from your XP CD (with the new HDD installed) and run a Repair Install.Changing a Motherboard or Moving a Hard Drive with XP InstalledThis link is not the exact situation you are in but it's relevant.

Ok so this isn't on my computer, its on my boyfriend's. I'm not on it right now so I'll try to be as detailed as possible.
Its a windows 7 and it got a virus or actually a few I believe after trying to download Microsoft word through a torrent.
I tried doing the Malwarebytes in safe mode and then downloading and running Microsoft security essentials. It seemed to work at first, but as soon as I started browsing the internet whenever you click something like 4 popups will come up.
What can I do next?
I'm sorry if this isn't detailed enough I'll try to get more information as soon as possible.

I was wondering if someone could please please help me, I use my grandmother's computer a lot and I know a few things about it, the other day when I was on it "Antivirus Soft" popped up with all of it's windows security alert windows and what not and so I went to the internet for help. I read through the "Antivirus Soft Unistall Guide" and did all of the steps correctly or so I believe. I re-booted my computer and went back out of safe mode. I thought it was fine until I saw the fake windows security alerts popping up again and the program preventing me from opening things. I don't know what to do and I feel very bad because it isn't even my computer. Someone please help me

A:I've tried the "Antivirus Soft Uninstall Guide" and it didn't work :(

As no logs have been posted, I am shifting this topic from the specialized Malware Removal forum to the Am I Infected forum.==>PLEASE DO NOT NOW POST LOGS<== unless a log is specifically requested. Please describe the issues you are experiencing with your computer.

I attempted to follow all of the steps provided. DDS did not open the two different sections it said it would, instead there was only a notepad document of jargon I didn't understand.
I also tried to run the gmer program as asked. Every time my computer got the blue screen of the death and I had to restart. This has happened about 5 times now. Each time the program runs for about 5 minutes or so before this happens.
I haven't seen any of the pop-ups I saw yesterday from vista guardian 2010, but from running the scans I believe it's still there.
Thanks

A:Vista Guardian 2010-gmer and DDS didn't work

If you have an active internet connection, copy/paste the links below into your browser, don't click them or the rogue might redirect. If you don't have an active internet connection, download the tools from another machine, and transfer them to the affected machine via USB flash drive.

Please download and run the following tool to help allow other programs to run. (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com)
There are 4 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
Vista and Win7 users need to right click and choose Run as Admin
You only need to get one of them to run, not all of them.

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/rkill.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/rkill.com
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/rkill.scr
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/rkill.pif

Note:

You will likely see a message from this rogue telling you the file is infected. Ignore the message. Leave the message OPEN, do not close the message. Run rkill repeatedly until it's able to do it's job. This may take a few tries. You'll be able to tell rkill has done it's job when your desktop (explorer.exe) cycles off and then on again.

At this point, you should now be able to run analysis tools.

Once the tool has run, do NOT reboot the machine, and then try once again to run DDS and GMER.

If for some reason the machine reboots, repeat the process. Again, try not to restart the machine.

Use this version of DDS

Download DDS from here
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds to run the tool. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs: DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop.
-----------------------------------------------------

Please include the following logs in your thread:Contents of the DDS.txt posted as text in your reply
Attach the Attach.txt to your post by clicking the Manage Attachments button under Additonal Options>Attach Files on the composition page. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Upload.

Let's try this version of gmer. We're going to try running it in a different fashion, also.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop. It will be a randomly named executable. Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.
Double click the exe file.
The program will begin to run, and perform an initial scan. If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No.
In any case, after the initial scan is complete, click on the Save button, and save the log file somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in reply

A:Duplicate Desktop Icons (Regedit didn't work)

Try performing a system restore to a point before you got the dup icons on desktop (and messed with the registry)

Here is how:
Use System restore
Note- using restore utility, this can be performed with a disk or recovery partition to access The system recovery Options:

Recovery Walkthrough: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/194765-system-recovery-options.html

Start, in search bar type restore> Click the program at top> at prompt, click "continue"> after system restore loads, choose a date/time from before the issue occured.

You can remove desktop images by accessing the User folder "desktop folder" and simply right clicking and deleting the icons in question. keep in mind that deleting shared User icons may delete them from that Users desktop folder also.

Alright, so my Navigation Pane is empty and i looked online and it told me to do SFC scan now and replace my old Explorer.dll's. Sounds simple enough right? Wrong. I did exactly that and nothing worked. I then went to Microsoft Help Desk where some dude remotely controlled my Desktop trying to fix the problem. He reinstalled a few registries relating to the pane and also tried replacing the DLL's. Nothing worked. He pretty much told me my only solution was to reinstall. I reinstalled windows about a month ago and i would much rather NOT do that again :/ Is there any other method of fixing this problem. Here is a picture: http://www.newinn.eclipse.co.uk/Capture.PNG The picture isn't mine, but its the exact same thing. I am currently doing a system restore, but its been at "System Restore is restoring registry" for the past 30 minutes.

A:Navigation Pane Is Empty, Tired SFC, Didn't Work

Follow all of these tutorials to add each one back one by one (obviously you use the add option):
Libraries Folder - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane
Favorites - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane
Homegroup - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane
Network - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane
Control Panel - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane
User Folder - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane
Recycle Bin - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane
Computer - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane

If for some reason you do not have a Navigation Pane, follow this tutorial:
Navigation Pane - Turn On or Off

You could also try opening an Explorer Window and going to Organize - Folder and search options, select the General Tab and under Navigation Pane select Show all folders.

I dropped my sisters floppy from like 4 to 5 feet and it fell on carpet. The floppy's case did not brake but now my pc won't read this floppy. Other floppys work but the one I dropped doesn't.

The floppy looks fine. Nothing broke but still my computer doesnt read it. It tells me if I wanna format it.

I was actually in the dist minutes earlyer. Maybe windows cached all the files somewhere. Could I recover the files from my pc that maybe win XP cached for fast reading or soemthing?

A:Dropped floppy didn't brake but won't work anymore

Maybe the disk is jammed into the side of the case.

Stick a pen in the hole in the center of the disk and wiggle it around.

Hello,

I have an infected machine that has had Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware and Microsoft Security Essentials ran on it and at the end of this process I ran the icons were still missing under the start menu and displayed as empty. I then ran unhide.exe but the icons were still missing.

I was hoping you could help me out a bit, just let me know what log you need me to run first.

Thanks,

John

Can you post the resulting logs from Malwarebytes and Super Anti-Spyware?

Also did you run any registry or temp file cleaners?

Hi, A reset is provided by the microsoft , you can run a recovery provided by hp and it will drive your computer to day 1 condition .  run a recovery : steps to run a recovery power down the note book as soon as you hit the power button , keep tapping the esc key on the top left corner until a new window opens up(the start up menu ) choose the option f11 and choose the option trouble shooting, and run the option called recoveryNote: recovery  will cause all the data to be lost on your computer and makes the computer to go back to day 1 condition

Hello,Looks like you are already dealing a long time with this problem... I also see you have no antivirus and firewall present as well and I don't think you also performed a scan with a decent antispywarescanner. :-(You have several different infections present as well, so please perform my instructions in the right order. Please download LQfix.exe from one of the following locations:http://www.downloads.subratam.org/LQfix.exehttp://miekiemoes.geekstogo.com/tools/LQfix.exeSave it to your desktop.Double-Click LQfix.exe and click Next > Next > Install.Leave the default settings, if you change them, the fix will Fail! You need an active internetconnection, so make sure your you're not blocking any connection now.If you are using a Firewall and it gives you an alert, please allow it and don't block it!!Now make sure the "Launch LQfix" box is checked.Click the Finish button, after clicking the Finish button the fix will start.Follow the on-screen prompts.Your system will reboot afterwards. Please be patient after the reboot, there is a script running in the background that needs to complete. Then install an antivirus and firewall, because it has a lot to clean here as well. And it prevents from further infection.AVG, AntiVir? OR Avast are good FREE antivirus.Never install more than one antivirusscanner or firewall on your system! Several together can give problems and decrease the reliability of it seriously!Zonealarm, Agnitum Outpost Free OR Kerio are FREE firewalls. Understanding and using firewallsPerform a full scan with your antivirus and let it delete everything it is finding.REBOOT afterwardsAfter reboot..Download Ad-aware version SE Personal 1.06 from one of these locations:http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html Install by double-clicking on the downloaded file.If you have a previous version of Ad-Aware installed, during the installation of the new version you will be prompted to uninstall or keep the older version. I have had a lot of Windows issues before, but this one is just bizarre, and I don't know how to fix it.
All of a sudden the majority of my programs are not showing up in the control panel tab. I rebooted...tried to do a system restore, but for some reason when it reboots it said that had failed.

It's not a big deal right now. I don't usually install many programs, but I am not sure what to do here.
Is there any way to fix this? Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have a redirect virus that I cannot get rid of. My husband tried Malaware Bytes and some other techniques we found online, but nothing has worked. It has affected both firefox and internet explorer. We have tried uninstalling firefox and reinstallng it. We have tried system restore. My husband also installed Advanced System Optimizer 3, but I don't know if that did any good after the fact.

The virus redirects to an ad page (a different one every time) when you click on a link in a list of search results. I can work around it by right clicking and copying target or link location and pasting into a new window. It doesn't redirect every single time, but at least one in every five times. It does it with google and bing (the only two I have tried).

Please help!

This may help someone having problems opening some webpage links in Chrome browser.
I was having problems with opening links on some random websites. I would click on a link on the webpage and it didn't do anything. I'm using the latest Chrome browser, Version 37.0.2062.120. The problem occurred on two different Dell laptops, one running Windows 7 and one running Windows 8.1. This was only at a few websites, mainly TV station or Newspaper sites. When I right clicked and selected "Open Link In New Tab" that would work and open the link.
I found that my Ad Blocking app was causing this. I am currently using AdGuard, but the problem also occured with Adblock. When I temporarily disabled the Ad Blocking software app, the webpage links worked. Don't know of another solution, but disabling the ad blocking app for the website having the problem fixed the issue.

A:Vista OS auto repair didn't work - Problem signature included

Hi,

The issue is with the version of software you mention, that is Vista 64 bit & only SP1.

A fresh install from your recovery DVD & a full update (Lots of them), should sort it out.

A:N5010 blank screen at startup (External Monitor also didn't work)

Hi,
I really appreciate all the troubleshooting you have already done. If you do not get a display on the external monitor it might be an issue with the video card or the system board where it is connected. When you connect an external monitor to the system press on the Fn and F1 keys together to toggle between the displays, if it doesn't work you can only with the F1, and check if you get display on the external monitor.
I would also recommend you to run the LCD built in self test to check the hardware functionality of the LCD screen, you can run this test by following the steps below:

Power down the system.
Press and hold the 'D'  key on the keyboard and power it on.
A solid color screen is shown and five different colors are displayed. While the colors are displayed, the system beeps every 2 seconds. You can use this test to determine if something is wrong with the display.

You can perform the Dell Diagnostics to determine if there is any hardware failure. To perform the diagnostics, follow the steps:

Turn off the computer; press and hold the <Fn> key, push the power button and release the keys simultaneously.
A blue screen will appear stating Pre-boot System Assessment .
A screen will appear with a message 'Were color bars displayed?(y/n).
Press 'Y' key if the color bars are displayed properly.
If you get any error code, make a note of it and continue testing.
Please share the error codes along with the error message if any.

Also, let me know if you can see any Dell logo when you power on the system. There are also 3 LED's in front of the system (check picture below) and let me know the status.

I am adding you as a friend; please accept my friend request and send me a personal message with the system Service Tag so that I can check the system warranty details and help you accordingly.
Do write back with the results.

Hello billyjoeiknow I would like to welcome you to the Malware Removal section of the forum.Around here they call me Gringo and I will be glad to help you with your malware problems.Very Important --> Please read this post completely, I have spent my time to put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier, faster and smoother for both of us!Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the "Follow This Topic" Button, make sure that the "Receive notification" box is checked and that it is set to "Instantly" - This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster.NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planed. A:High RAM Usage on Idle W10 - Tried Poolmon/Tips of Forum Didn't Work

Actually, I don't think there's a problem mainly because Windows likes as much memory as it can get and also because there's always something running in the background. Two ways I prevent problems with RAM/Random Access Memory is to use the written recommended [in Windows, Help and Support] of 1.5 Times the physical RAM for the Virtual Memory/paging file and also to run 6GB or 8GB RAM depending upon the maximum allowed by the motherboard. I know there's a cost involved that some folks can't deal with.

Hey I woke up today to my computer logging me into a temp profile Searched and read about the regedit stuff where you delete the bak and rename the same one with bak Tried making a new admin profile to access the stuff on my old profile but it's not there Made sure nothing was hidden gone didn't - regedit files work profile, user Temp previous through the control panel appearance and settings folder options tools etc Basically I just Temp user profile, previous files gone - regedit didn't work want to know how to look for all of my stuff so I can back it up When I installed windows I tried to point as much stuff as I could to my secondary drive so if windows Temp user profile, previous files gone - regedit didn't work crapped out as it usually does at some point I could just re-format and just point to the correct directories Point is there were still a lot of files that got stored on my C drive which I've had no luck finding For example I have a friend named Gary who had a folder on my desktop for his few files search can't find it on the drive I've done similar searches for the folders and files I could think of and none came up Am I screwed on getting these files back The sad thing is a lot of them were things that I had invested a lot of time in at one point but then saved and haven't touched in a while so I don't have a good memory of every file Some of them are more important than others such as CAD drawings I had done for school and other projects

A:Temp user profile, previous files gone - regedit didn't work

I've been able to get into more file locations even though I made sure nothing was hidden at the C drive level. I have full permissions yet there are still files that I can't access without going into the advanced tab on the security page and deleting the rule that denies everyone the ability to open and list the directory. Even still I cannot find any of my missing files. My internet connection still doesn't work on any profile even though my brothers computer is working just fine 4 feet away using the same modem, router and connection.

One of the more important things for me to find is all of the bookmarks in Firefox that I've added since the last reformat but I've had no luck. Firefox doesn't show any bookmarks in the browser and I can't find where they are stored as they are not in the appdata/roaming/mozilla etc because there is no Mozilla folder in any local or roaming folder for any user profile.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm tired of MS and this crap, their mobile device center deleted all of my contacts on my phone just a few weeks ago.

Also any recommendations on how to automatically back up these things to a secondary drive would be helpful. I'm tired of windows taking certain files of mine and storing them in places I didn't specify.

I'm nasdaq and will be helping you.If you can please print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.===Lets see if we can get the Internet service.1. Click on Start button. 2. Type Cmd in the Start Search text box. 3. Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request. 4. Type netsh int ip reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key. 5. Restart the computer. The command will remove all user configured settings on TCP/IP stack and return it to original default state by rewriting pertinent registry keys that are used by the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) stack to achieve the same result as the removal and the reinstallation of the protocol.===If that fails, download this tool to a CD or flash drive using a good computer. Copy the file to the Desktop of the Infected computer and run it.Please download MiniToolBox to Desktop and run it.Check mark the following boxes:Flush DNSReport IE Proxy SettingsReset IE Proxy SettingsList content of HostsList IP ConfigurationList Last 10 Event Viewer ErrorsList Users, Partitions and Memory Size
Click Go and copy/paste the log (Result.txt) into your next post.Let me know if the service is restored.
