I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The PCI card (Adaptec 29160N RAID) is 32-bit but the expansion slot on the motherboard (Super Micro P4DPR-6GM+) is 64-bit 66MHz PCI (3.3V). The card's POST doesn't show up during boot. Is this because it's 32-bit and the slot is 64-bit?

@Dr_Saiful?, welcome to the forum. Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer. Beginning on Page 26 you will find the Workstation Specifications. In the specs it says that two video cards can be used as long as the required wattage is no more than 150W. I suspect that you may be exceeding the wattage of your power supply unit (PSU). I have an expansion slot, and I was wondering what goes in there? I know it's a stupid question, but I never hear much about it.
I have a shared PCI/ISA slot on my MB. What (or better how) can I use this slot? I want to add a NIC for DSL but all my PCI's are in use by Firewire, SCSI, and sound cards? Can I use this shared slot for the NIC or swap out one of my others and use them in the shared??
Thanks for any help!
well, most PCI cards sohuld play nice nice with the shared slot. But i'm not to sure abuot that. I'm not sure if the sound card would like it though. You can probably just put the NIC in there
Just remember, i could be wrong.

1. Expansion SlotWhat is the expansion slot specification for this model as we would like to add a dedicated graphics card with DisplayPort ? 2. MemoryHow many memory slots does it have on the motherboard ?What type of memory is required ?What is the maximum memory supported on the motherboard ?
Go to Solution.
Ok, Sorry looking up the model at Kingston and a couple other sites didn't show your computer and seeing I hadn't seen any I was confused. Based on what I have found maybe a Model from other country. With that said it looks like it comes with 2gig DDR3L Ram and is Upgradable to 8Gig Also looks like yours comes With 1 PCI Express x16 Slot. I am not sure with the PSU and with that slot if you would be able to upgrade to a different Graphics Card. GPU and size of case would put a huge limit on what could be able to fit... There's a small expansion slot labelled PCIE1x1 next to the longer slot in which I've installed a graphics card. What can the smaller one be used for? Can it for example hold an SSD? Thanks,Tom
Go to Solution.
OK, Yes that is the one that I was Refering to... There was some boards that could connect to that slot I don't see any ATM but they were non Controller systems Plug in and some would be found. Some wouldn't So I think they have done away with them... One with a Controller like the one in my picture here.... Can be used for SDD and also an extra HDD off it as well. They have others that are just SSD and some that have 2 spaces for SSD on the card but may not work for your space as they are longer cards. There are also some that offer SSD, SATA and exta ESata out the back... It is all up to what you want and how much you like to spend.http://community.acer.com/t5/Aspire-Desktops/TC-705-EB53-expansion-slot-question/td-p/411193/jump-to/first-unread-message
Do you guy knew if Dell E7250 is able to install ADDITIONAL ssd in M.2 Expansion Slots?
In the specification it's show there are free M.2 slot for WWAN or SSD.
If it's support what SSD M.2 model should i but 2242?
The additional slot referenced is in the E-dock expansion adapter - NOT the system. The system takes only one internal M.2 drive.
If you have (or purchase) the E-dock port adapter, you'll have the additional M.2 slot.

I want to add an expansion card to a new Tower 3620. I can get the box open to access to chassis just fine, but how does this black plastic cover on the expansion slots work. Looks like it's designed to make it easy to pop open all the slots at once, but it's way to clever for me to figure out. Hand me the big pliers!

Usually, newer motherboards have extra headers for connecting
the front panel connections.
Afraid graphics and network usually don't have header extensions,
but something like this can get audio/usb firewire up front.
You need to find one to match the headers.
USB is standard but audio can be standard or HD.

My opinion ...
Yes, setting up like that will have an impact. The air flow to your GPU will be restricted so it will more than likely run hotter than it did. It may still stay withing recommended specs, but it will run hotter.
The motherboard has onboard sound (RealtekŪ ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC ), any particular reason why you don't use that? Onboard sound is perfectly good for gaming and the like now, its not like older machines where you needed a dedicated card for decent quality. In my opinion, you only need a dedicated card if you are doing a lot of detailed audio work (mixing, remastering and other specific audio work). This would totally remove the issue.
i need to know which know which graphic card will fit for my computer. Ie i want to know which type: DDR ,DDR1 or ddr2 i bought my computer in 2007, but thats not enough to tell.
so please let me know how do i know which pci slot i have?
The type of memory doesn't matter, its the type of interface the computer supports among a few other things to watch for.
You likely have a PCI-Express slot, as long as it a x16 slot it doesn't really matter if its a version 1.1 or 2.0 slot.
Is this for your Dell or another computer? Whats you budget and what needs do you have for the video card?
Bought a USB2 4 port -pci expansion card from Dabs.com, put it in pc and the thing sat there dead ,no beeps,,not a glimmer of life.
Mailed the company, swopped it,put new one in,,still dead, tried alternative pci slots, took out other cards,no joy.
tried it in another machine,,whoopee do,worked fine.
Any suggestions? shouldnt all standard cards work in all machines? Am I missin somethin here?

Wanting to add USB 3.0 to my existing AMD system and am seeking input from those that may have already been down this path. The LaCie LaCie USB 3.0 PCI Express Card looks pretty interesting but I have no experience with their products ... any feedback would be appreciated.
There's not much magic in USB expansion cards. The card you mention will work fine as long as your motherboard has an accessible PCI-e X1 slot

I upgraded the memory in a computer, booted up the computer and new memory was accepted. I shut down the computer and installed an SMC network card in a computer. I went to boot the computer up and I got three high pitched beeps, followed by a pause, then a low tone noise. Everything boots up except the monitor will not come on. I have taken out the additional memory I put in, have taken this computer completely apart and reassembled it and when I boot it up I still get the beeps and the monitor will not respond. I have double checked all the jumpers. Any clue to what this could be?
From that pattern, it sounds like a video problem.
Might be the Video Cards is loose in the socket. Take it out and try reinstalling it again. Also, check to see if there is any dirt/etc. on the contacts. An old trick is to use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts. Likewise, blow out any dust/etc. in system.
Also, does it work without the SMC network card installed?
Another possibility is that it got a static charge when you were installing the network card.If that happened, the only thing that you can do is replace it.
Hope this helps

Speaking of "Type-C USB 3.1", The port could be either 10 Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 1) or 5 Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2).Well, due to marketing purpose if it is really Gen 2, it should have been obviously stated as Gen 2 though. Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread. I've created a new thread for your issue here. Thanks for your cooperation.
RE your issue: It would help if you told us what specific card you purchased, and what the exact symptoms are.

The USB expansion card is a Via Vectro vt USB card PCI expansion causes CMOS error that I scavenged from an old build whose motherboard fried when the cooling fan suddenly stopped working it was an OLD build CPU couldn't shut off automatically when the temp got too high and I know most boards have been able to do that for about years It was tested working in another PC emachines T its older than my little sister but it still works so I use it to test stuff I upgraded it from mb to mb of RAM which can comfortably run Windows with aero turned off although I do dual boot with Android x because PCI USB expansion card causes CMOS error why not so I PCI USB expansion card causes CMOS error know the card isn't broken The PC I'm trying to install it in PCI USB expansion card causes CMOS error is a Lenovo Thinkserver TS which I upgraded to gb RAM ECC of course I know I don't need enterprise grade stuff but I hate blue screens and corrupted files and put a TB Seagate Barracuda in When I put the USB expansion card into the PCI slot and press the power button it gives me a CMOS error beeps which means the card is incompatible with the BIOS This doesn't make sense to me because PCI-e the Lenovo is supposed to be software backwards compatible with PCI the expansion card How do I get it to work EDIT Its a full-size pcie so its not like I'm trying to stick a big card into a tiny hole
Ah... you've transported us all back to the bad old days of the IRQ error (Interrupt ReQuest).
At that time there were only 15 IRQs and it was quite common to need to manually change a new device's IRQ position so that it did not conflict with another device, freezing the system.
Modern PCs use the APIC system which greatly expands the number of IRQs and reduces the possibility of conflicts.
But this system relies on Plug-and-Play devices to automatically configure the IRQs. That is why the vast majority of people reading this will have never heard of it.
Can you get into your BIOS settings with this card installed?
You could try the card in a different PCI slot if you have one. That would sometimes change the IRQ in older systems.
You might also try doing a ClearCMOS procedure with the card plugged in. That may force the system to reassign IRQs for all the P&P devices and free up whatever IRQ that old card insists it has to have.
Hi, New to the forum. I have an HP 450-A24 Slimline and would like to know if it is possible to install a 4 port USB 3.0 PCIe expansion card? All I have been able to find out is that the expansion port has been used. Is there any way to still add 4 port USB 3.0 PCIe expansion card? Thanks fror your helphttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Want-to-add-a-4-port-USB-3-0-PCIe-expansion-card-to-an-HP/td-p/5597903
Okay so I have the Corsair Force GT Series 120GB SSD. Its port's are Sata 3 and well my motherboard is a MSI Pro-E long story short it does not have a sata 3 port. So my question is there anything out there I can buy that does have a sata 3 port like something that will hook on the PCI slot's or something. I basically dont wanna have to buy a new mother board but I still wanna get the amazing speeds because right now im getting half its peformance anyways please write back soon. If you give me a link to a product I prefer www.newegg.com and my max budget is $50.
You will need a free PCI-E slot. But this should get the job done.
I do not know much about the brand. But it does have 5 Eggs on Newegg.
I currently have harddrives installed in my computer of which are SATA the th is IDE this one isn t actually plugged in right now I also have a SATA BluRay drive making SATA connections which uses all of my SATA expansion / card for Need suggestions RAID motherboard s available ports I m quickly running out of storage space imagine that and am looking into a PCI SATA card I ve Need suggestions for RAID / SATA expansion card found a few that have external ports but I need then to be internal Can anyone recommend me a decent affordable SATA expansion card with at least internal ports RAID capabilities might be nice but it isn t something I m looking at using just yet so it isn t a requirement I also understand that I ll need a more powerful PSU I m looking at an W with modular cables to reduce clutter Right now I m using a W Also I know someone might want to suggest external drives I d like to stay away from them I ve just never liked external drives and the last thing I need is something else to clutter up my desk So does anyone have any suggestions nbsp
Do you have any PCI-express slots available on your motherboard? Unless your PSU is really poor quality you don't need to upgrade just to support additional drives.
I'm looking for a PCI USB card that has internal headers for connecting front panel and internal readers. Anyone know of such a beast? It needs to have the NEC USB chipset, no VIA or ALi chipsets please.

I am installing a PCI expansion card that provides a second LPT interface for attaching an external ZIP drive to a computer. The system currently has one LPT interface, using the standard IO assignments to which a printer is attached. I Followed ESD procedures to install the card. After I physically installed in the system and restarted, the computer locked up when the Windows GUI interface loaded. The computer runs Windows ME. Can anyone give me a list of steps I should take to isolate the cause of the problem.
Lately, My laptop is very slow in recognizing my usb stick, or my Hard drive (usb 3.0) or my sxs cards through my express card slot. It 's also slow in recognizing my sd-cards through my card reader. I have a very fast laptop. A lenovo W530.
I just started a while ago, and I can't get it to recognize faster . Everything else works just fine and fast.... but it takes up to 4 minutes to recognize these things.
Can somebody help?
Hey tidri. 2 things come to mind if it previously worked. One is a reinstall of all the drivers for the mobo, and the other is a full AV/Malware/Rootkit scan. If everything checks out, a full format and an OS reinstall would be my third move.
Okay I did something really stupid It was late I was Memory on laptop A215-S7416 MicroSD the Express stuck Satellite slot Card Card my in in the dark and I wasn t paying attention obviously so here s what happened I had a SanDisk GB Micro SD Memory Card that I was using in my cell phone I wanted to transfer some pics amp photos from my computer to the phone so I decided to stick it in the Express Card slot of my laptop Simple enough right Well being the incredibly smart person that I am I put the micro memory card in the adapter but it was the wrong one So my computer pretty much swallowed it whole I can t MicroSD Memory Card stuck in the Express Card slot on my Satellite A215-S7416 laptop get it back out Now I can t use the Express Card slot in my computer AT ALL because the old one MicroSD Memory Card stuck in the Express Card slot on my Satellite A215-S7416 laptop is still stuck in there You can t really see it but if you try to put another adapter in there it won t quot click quot It won t go all the way because the old one I lost is still in there waiting to be rescued haha So my question is How do I get the memory card out of my computer I tried taking it apart but I couldn t get the part of where the express card slot is so that was no good There s a way to do this I know I m just not smart enough to figure it out on my own Which is probably a good thing because I might mess it up again lol I have a Toshiba Satellite A -S laptop Any help is appreciated Thanks -Ashley nbsp

High guys, i have this PC model, which is great for me as its small and allows me to hook up my TV box to it, so i can watch tv through my PC.
However, I would love to be able to play some of the high end games which require a good graphics card, so I am looking for a slimline model with a single expansion plate (I have no idea what that means!)
I currently have the NVIDIA Geforce 5700VE which is just not good enough. So I was wondering if someone could help me out finding a really good graphics card that would fit the requirements of my Aopen XC cube.
By the way the specs of my PC are:
Windows XP professional, service pack 2
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHZ (2CPUs)
NVIDIA Geforce FX 5700VE, 256MB Memory (What I want to upgrade!)
I am planning to get a Transcend 128GB JetDrive Lite 130 Flash Expansion Card supported by Macbook. Wanted to check if this would be supportable on Lenovo Ideapad 710S as well? Probably a simple one but im stumped.
Have a SSDIII drive with OS installed via a USB3 4 port PCIe expansion card with SATAIII ports.
Master OS drive is installed and working fine on the drive however is not showing up in BIOS for autoboot, so I have to manually press ESC to enter boot menu and select the SSD drive to boot which works fine.
Have checked all the BIOS advanced boot up devices can see all hard drives, USB drives, CDROMs and external USB drives but not the relevant SATAIII drive. I am presuming its due to the fact its on an expansion card and have not found a solution please help.

Hi. I have recently aquired a very old computer (8-9 years old). I am looking at replacing the old agp graphics card because it is not working properly and then sell the computer for quite a low price. Any way.
I have looked in the case and took the card out and I belive that the graphics card slot is agp 2x. The card has two slots in it leading me to belive that it is a universal 1.5v 3.3v card. I am just wondering what cards my computer would accept and whether a 4x card would work ok in a 2x card slot.
Any help apreciated.
I have Vista Ultimate x installed on an SD Card Slot Acer Aspire laptop and it has a -in- card reader When I installed Vista I did a clean install and before doing so I wrote a list of the drivers I might need to get later like my graphics card wireless network card etc I failed to write down the -in- card reader so I don't know what model or anything it is but it doesn't work On my SD Card Slot device manager I have a section called quot SD Host Adapters quot with quot SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller quot underneath it I use an SD card so I would assume this is related However under quot Other Devices quot SD Card Slot I have three devices called quot PCI FLASH Memory quot and they all have a problem I would assume this is the card slot Any ideas what I could do Also does anyone know where I can get x drivers for a Synaptics PS Touchpad It works but the scrolling features don't work
I found the card was an ENE Technologies 5-in-1 card reader, and found a set of 9x, NT, 2000, XP and Vista drivers, and they work perfectly fine.
My only other problem now is the Vista x64 Synaptics touchpad drivers..
My sd card slot has worked fine on my 4 different sd cards since 8 came out, but suddenly all cards are read only (and work fine on other computer). So I believe it is a card reader hard/soft problem.... Any thoughts? Thanks

have an old xp2000,512 pc 2100, epox ep8kha board, pny ti4200 vid. my daughter uses it for online games. runs fine 99% of the time. randomly screen goes black. monitor light goes yellow computer doesn't shut down. reboot and will run for a while and do it again. tried an old agp ati 7000 card ran a couple of days then did it again. pretty much convinced it's the agp slot. is there any way to make it live again?
Check the capacitors on the motherboard. Around that era of ePox motherboards, there was a big capacitor scandal overseas, and many motherboard manufacturers mistakenly used inferior capacitors, which were prone to failure. I had to replace the caps on my 8rda+ and a few others as well. They're the little 'towers' on the motherboard, and if the tops of them are bulging, then they're no good. Here's a good picture to show the difference. Check all the capacitors on the board, they're probably scattered about in different places.
Other than that, if you really think it's the slot, then there's no real way to fix it, unless you can see a faulty connection somewhere. Socket A motherboards should be pretty cheap by now, or you might want to consider upgrading the whole thing.
I have an EMachine mn 2824 with a SD card slot on the front of the case. Today I bought a Canon PowerShot A400 camera. When I plug the card into the slot nothing happens. It works fine through the camera with a USB connection. What am I overlooking?
Is a light coming on when you put the card in? If not, the reader may not be connected, or it may have failed. Make sure you are inserting the card into the correct slot and make sure it is facing the correct direction. Usually the label is up. If the light does not come on you may open the case and see if the reader is connected to the motherboard.
Nothing is neccessarily going to happen when you insert the card - you have to go to My Computer, then find the SD drive (it's going to be E:\ or F:\ or something similar) and view its contents.
ordered a new GB PQI SD Card last week and got it today I put it in my laptop drive and booted up my computer I Slot! Sd Card clicked My Computer and saw it labeled as E Drive I clicked it and it wanted me to Format the card I formatted it as FAT because it kept failing when writing to Fat which I later discovered the card cant handle Fat So Afterwards I rebooted then reclicked My Computer and reclicked drive E When I did so Sd Card Slot! my computer instantly froze I could only move the mouse and minimize and close that screen THats I CTRL Alt Del and closed My Computer and My documents mysteriously opened without me knowing So I continued this same process times and if I let it keep going without control alt deleting then it says quot The file is corrupt or Unreadable Now I am guessing that my generic SD drive needs updates But am afraid of screwing something up so I wont try I figured that the card was locked or something but I tried it in different positions and the same result I actually dont own a digital Camera yes I know quot Im in the Dark ages quot but the card doesnt have a thing on it It is totally new and bare Is there a computer utility that I can use to reformat the card or somethinghttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/64058/sd-card-slot/
I need a new graphics card.My Mobo is an Asus P4S8x.While browsing through my BIOS settings(with a deep look of Puzzlement)I noticed I can set my Primary VGA BIOS to AGP or PCI.
Does that mean I could use a PCI-Express card? And if so would there be any advantage over using the AGPslot which is8X??
No. You can use AGP or PCI (not PCI express).

Hello I have read several posts about this so I will explain my problem in detail I put the correct SD Card in the slot of my new Toshiba Satellite Lap Top I have used it several times before without incident I know the card works it is the right size and out get slot Card SD Cannot of I have removed it before without incident So I Cannot get SD Card out of slot clicked safely remove hardware It said the device can now be removed But when I try pressing it in it doesn t release There is no release button or little hole like on DVD drives etc I beleive the Windows operating system may have some way to keep this from releasing while it is Cannot get SD Card out of slot in use I can not access the drive right now as Windows Explorer does not show it as being there This is most likely because I requested to safely romove it Any ideas I don t feel like going to Best Buy and waiting on line for Geek Squad Thank You nbsp Cannot get SD Card out of slot
There are no ways to lock a card in the slot by the operating system, it's just stuck. Have you tried using something like tweezers to pull it out?
I seem to be a bit confused on something. Will a 4x AGP Ti4600 work in an 8x slot on a new mobo I'm considering? I'm just wondering cause I thought the voltage was different...The mobo I'm looking at is cheap, but I have to go cheap... http://www.pcchipsusa.com/prod-m848aluv21.asp
the 8X AGP slots are backward comapitable with 4X. but I would think twice before buying anything from PC chips.
I know this maybe a stupid question, but there might be a way that someone might just be able to help me, I hope :/
Anyways, I jsut recently bought a scsi cd burner with cable and scsi from a friend and went to install the card on my new computer only to realise that my motherboard does not have an ISA slot, which is what the scsi card requires
My motherboard is an Asus Socket A A7V-E board with 3 PCI slots free. Im just wondering if there is some way around this problem other than buying a pci card.
Maybe is there a ISA to PCI slot convertor or something out there?
Any help is greatly Aprreciated!
Thanks in advance, Lee.
Nope!....ISA is ISA and PCI is PCI.....there is no converter for these cards. Where did you ever find an ISA SCSI card....must be an antique.
"The card supplied was not recognized. Please check that the card is inserted correctly, and tightly."
I ran some updates on an employee's computer and now when I start it up, I receive this error if the aircard is in the PC Card slot. I understand it's misinterpreting it as being a security card or whatever the case may be but I don't understand why or how to remedy it.
Anyone with a similar experience or that can shine a guiding light?
What are some other good tech support sites? I work in IT myself and don't use forums for them nearly as much as I should.
Hey! The integrated 3-in1 memory card reader does not recognize sd cards (tried two). Updated drivers/computer, everything. Installed the realtek card reader driver. Nope, still nothing. I just bought a new video card for a computer in out bar, and I didn't notice that the computer's AGP slot is 4x max. (It is in a tight area, so it is one of those compact compaq desktops)
The card is an 8x AGP card and the slot is apparently 4x max. Is there a way to get this card to work in this computer? A 4x AGP low-profile video card with dual monitor output is hard to find at all, let alone something with decent RAM.
I don't remember the model of the computer off hand...I'll reply with that later. Video card is a geforce 4 128 MB DDR low-profile 8x AGP, dell part number F1811.
Plz can you suggest a graphic card for PCI-X 64-bit/133 MHz slot ??
PS: i preffer nvidia card`s.

Not a compatibility question, I'm fairly certain that wouldn't be an issue. The question is about overall performance gain. Looking at a Radeon R9 270, currently have a 5670. Here's a benchmark comparison from hwcompare.com - now I'm not a heavy gamer but I am running a mod on a particular favorite that could use a boost. Thing is, the m/b (being 2.0) can't take full advantage of the card otherwise it might be something of a no brainer. Card has excellent reviews and happens to be on sale.
So there's got to be some people here that have been in a similar situation, wondering spend the coin or not. Lets say the $ isn't an issue, just wondering about what to expect in actual gain.
Using a PCI-e 3.0 card in a PCI-e 2.0 slot will give less performance but not as much as one would think—maybe no more than 10% less—over what it would have done in a PCI-e slot. However, the newer PCI-e 3.0 card very well may give far better performance than an older PCI-e 2.0 card, even when running on only PCI-2.0.http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/335712-pci-express-3-0-card-2-0-slot.html
I want to purchase a specific sound card for my laptop (the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook card), but, according to Dell, I do not have the required PCMCIA slot. Instead, I have an Express Card slot.
Would the PCMCIA soundcard work in the Express Card slot? Some of the Dell technicians have said that it will not work, but they have been wrong in the past.
Are there any other options if the sound card would not work in the Express slot? Dell said something about buying an adapter, but they weren't sure as to what kind that would be.
Thanks for any help.
I am buying a notebook, and was wondering what the Type II PC card slot refered to. I have found a few sites on google, they say that it is memory, but some of the brands also advertise they have DIMM slots, so i got confused on that. they also say it is plug and play, so that must mean that it is external, right. so is it like USB and firewire, or is it like a new floppy drive? I know a little about computers, so i really just want to know what i can put in this slot and how that helps me in the future.
want to buy a new video card but not sure what type of slot my pc has. Have a DELL PIV 3.0 ghz with a green video card slot (other slots are white)

In another thread you posted that you need a PCI-X graphics card: http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/794874-graphic-card-pci-x-64-a.html
Which is it, PCI-X or PCI-e? Matrox Odyssey XG is the only PCI-X card made that I know of and is serious overkill unless you are also doing video capture.

The case looks ok, the psu is enough though some would say to go with a much stonger one.
Dual slot card means, that you can't use the slot below the 16x slot that you put the card in. I would say yes it fits, though you must do some calculations about the case to make sure that you have enough space.
How do I assign a specific IRQ number to a specific PCI slot on Windows XP Pro 32 Bit system? From what I understand ACPI needs to be disabled, preferably by way of F5 during fresh XP Install.. After this is done, do I still require a motherboard that has a setting to manually set IRQ number in it's BIOS? If so does anyone know a Socket 1155 Motherboard with this feature?
To disable ACPI, do the following:
In Device Manager, right-click on "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC" under the "Computer" header and select "Update Driver".
Select "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)" and click Next.
Select "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install" and click Next.
Select "Standard PC" and click Next.
Click Next and OK to the end.
I suggest, just in case, to create a system restore point before doing the above, and also to note down the existing driver.
If this is not enough, you might consider turning off ACPI in the BIOS. However, be warned that changing this BIOS parameter might require the re-installation of XP.
you need to If you want to manually set IRQ's boot into Setup (Bios)you have to enable that mode in the Bios of the Motherboard as well, if it is available. Windows is pretty good about assigning IRQ's and the Automatic allocation works pretty well. Why do you need to load a specific IRQ to a PCI port?
hey im looking to buy a new motherboard and i was wondering if a pci-e can run agp cards?
if not, can anyone recommend a motherboard that have both pci-e and agp slots?
thanks anyone who's trying to help
Given that a PCI-e slot and an AGP slot are physically very different, there is logically no way that a card could fit both?

I am waiting for my new Yoga 900. I read the so-called "full" SD Card slot is not 32mm deep as a standard SD Card. Can you confirm it is shorter? Is it 16mm deep like in the Yoga 2? Is there an adaptor for 128GB micro-SD that has the perfect size and been tried?
A standard SD card goes in only to 16mm, not the full 32mm depth.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-900-SD-Card-slot/td-p/2228363
Hey out there, before I go out and buy a new motherboard(AGAIN) will my e-geforce 7300gt pci-e card work in my AGP 8xslot, if so is it worth doing or should I go out and get a PCI-e ready motherboard?
I'm new ish to tech talk about comps, i just build them with help from my professional buddies, so bare with me!!
Nope, completely different and incompatible slots. Can you exchange your vid card for an agp version? If not, then you will need a new mobo.
Okay so I have been looking around for a while and found 2 graphics cards I like and I was wondering what slot my motherboard has. Here are the CPU-Z details. I really need to know if it is a PCI-E x16
-http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_7800.html (NVIDIA GeForce 7800 PCIE x16)
-http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_6600.html (NVIDIA GeForce 6600 PCIE x16)
Thank you so much in advance! If you have any answers, questions, comments, or concerns leave me a comment and I will try to get back to you ASAP.
It appears the motherboard has the following expansion slots:
One PCI Express x16
Two PCI Express x1

Hello, I recently discovered that my T520 has a SIM card slot (inside the battery slot) I tried to put my cell phone SIM card in it, but there's no reaction (no "New device connected" popup dialog). What should I do ? Is there a driver + software that needs to be installed ?Which one? Thanks in advance!
Go to Solution.
Your T520 must have the appropriate WWAN hardware (radio card and antenna) in order to function. Otherwise the SIM slot is just a dummy slot. Do you know if you have this hardware installed?
What is the model number of your T520, something like 4239-46U
Well, im an ***. I went ahead and bought a GeForce2 MX 64MB 4X AGP card and forgot that I didn't have an AGP slot on my motherboard. I was wondering if there is anyway to use some sort of adapter so I can still use the board, instead of going through the process of having to sell it.
I doubt that there is any way of using an AGP card on your motherboard. No one would bother to make an adaptor when they can just make a PCI version of the card.
I have a pci 4ch dvr card that apparently needs to be in slot 3 for the software to work..problem is the replacement pc has only 2 slots....is it at all possible to change the slot id's to make it look like its in slot 3
Can anyone help me? I dont want to just yank it out as hard as I can. I'm using the A8N32-SLI Deluxe mb. Thanks in advance.
I have an XPSL702X and an Inspiron N5510. On the left side of both these units is a slot titled:
SDXC/MMC-MS/PRO. I'm hoping this is an "express card" slot, but it looks like a memory card reader/adapter slot.
Can I utilize an express card in this slot? I need to somehow hook up 1394 firewire to one of these computers. Help!!!
It is indeed a memory card reader -- not an Express Card slot. Neither of these systems will take an ExpressCard -- about the only systems in recent years that had/have the option are Latitude and Precision models -- none of the consumer systems (Inspiron/XPS/Vostro/Studio) of recent vintage support ExpressCards.http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3519/t/19682926

I recently bought an AGP 8x nVidia 7600gt. However, it doesn't fit into my AGP slot. It is loose and I am scared of putting too much force on it that it will dmaage it.
I'm also not aware of what that tag on the end does?
The smaller of the two slots is facing the front of the computer. I'm also thinking that it isn't aligned properly.
Sometimes, certain cards just don't fit on certain boards. I've had to return a couple because they hit against something. A couple other times, I managed to make them fit by shaving off an edge, but this is risky work and no circuit traces can get damaged in the process.
