I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
It's now four and a half hours since i started the restore operating system and retain user data and the screen is exactly the same. is there anyone who can tell me if this is normal? Please?http://community.acer.com/t5/Legacy-Laptops-and-Netbooks/Acer-erecovery-management-v7-7-3-acer-aspire-5742/td-p/440504
I've got an Acer Aspire 7552G laptop. And I would like to restore the original Windows 7 OEM version on it but don't have any recovery discs or partitions on my HDD that include recovery programs since I've replaced the HDD.
Is there any way to get the eRecovery management or could someone else maybe sort me out with this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, my computer is not working. It won't get past the start up screen so I am trying to do the Acer eRecovery Management. I can pull it up just fine but the blue circle (thinking) has been there for awhile and won't finish loading..is that normal? any ideas?
I don't think that is normal - it should load up reasonably quickly.
If it has been several minutes - something is wrong.
Did you run off the Acer recovery discs?
Hi everyone A special hi to those who keep trying to solve problems I've got an Acer Aspire z I've been using it for approximately years I made Management eRecovery ACER a ACER eRecovery Management backup using Acer Erecovery All was going well But I needed to upgrade my Hard Disk Drive from GB to GB I had to transfer all my info to the new HDD I transferred partly I made a last backup of C of my old HDD then I transferred my Backup File erData to the new HDD on which Acer Factory Default Disk was installed I also restored to factory default on the old HDD while pressing the Alt F on startup This method of recovery happened only once Now when I do same function on old HDD the following appear EDIT BOOT OPTIONS Edit Windows boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista Partition Hard Disk example ad db NOEXECUTE OPTIN Also when I try to restore the backup erData file using acer Erecovery my laptop just restarts itself without any progress Neither the restoration of backup nor the restoration to factory default works The laptop restarts itself without any error message Only restoration by factory default disks works I restored with factory default disks to try to repair the problem with Acer eRecovery the problem is unsolved till now Any idea what can be done to solve this Waiting a response asap Thx buddies
Hello, was looking in past postings and saw yours was not answered. Let me see if i understand this : The new hard drive works fine, but, it is the old hard drive giving you issues ? If that is what i am reading here , then would a wipe of the hard drive and reformat do the trick, it seems to be confused as to what to boot to.http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/294423-acer-erecovery-management.html
It prompt's me for Password? What do I enter. Under hint it says Jack.
Nevermind, I've solved it. Thanks for the read at least
Hey guys I want to recover my laptop an Acer Aspire G When I bought this Management eRecovery Acer laptop I deleted all the mess that comes with it but I accidently deleted Acer eRecovery too which is necessary to burn the hidden backup partition to Acer eRecovery Management a CD DVD which is what I wanted to do I want to burn the hidden partition on a CD or DVD and then just recover my laptop The Acer eRecovery Management reason that I want to recover my laptop is because I have most files backed up and there's too much mess on my laptop to figure out everything I want to back up The mess on my laptop is just too big to find out what I still want to use of it Anyone has a download to the Acer eRecovery Management application It's been deleted from the Acer website for some reason I already downloaded a version of the eRecovery program but the loader said it wasn't compatible with my version of Windows hardware Thanks in advance guys
Can you do a system recovery then burn your disks? Like hit Alt+F10 while on the bios screen recover windows to factory settings then burn the disks.http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/113166-acer-erecovery-management.html
hi. i'm just confused about one of the options of the acer erecovery management,
the "restore operating system and retain user data" option. i'm thinking of
using it actually.
my current OS is windows7. originally, my OS was vista. there is also a backup OS for windows vista in my laptop (the one in the hidden partition).
i just want to ask: if i use the "restore operating system and retain user data"
option, will i be able to retain and use my windows7? and not the vista?
thanks... hoping for an immediate reply.
If your recovery partition has vista and you have win7 now on the system partition, I doubt you'll be able to use the erecovery options at all. Even if they work, they'll restore vista. If you ever want to restore vista, you'll probably need to mark the recovery partition active, then boot to it.
Once you overwrite with another OS, recovery partitions dont really make too much sense. Best strategy is to first backup an image of the current OS, then reinstall the new OS. That gives you a painless way of reverting to the earlier OS.
I ordered a "Recovery Disc" and a "System Disc" for my "Acer Aspire M1100". The discs loaded correctly (I believe so). The "Acer eRecovery Management" is the problem, it has been loading for 6 hours now. Is this normal ? If not what can I do to fix this issue?
Windows Vista Home Basic
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+ 2.60ghz
3327 MB RAM
32 -bit Operating System
Thank you for any help.
"Normal" to me means to use a Recovery disk to "recover" the computer's operating system to factory default condition. Is that what you did with the new Recovery disk? If not, what?
What is the System Disc? What does it contain or do?
What are you trying to do with the Acer eRecovery Management? (Whatever you are doing 6 hours does not sound normal.)

I'm not sure if I can ask brand-specific questions, but here goes:
I'm trying to restore my laptop to factory defaults, but it's not working. I have an acer laptop that has Acer Empowering technology, which eRecovery management is a part of. I have done this before, it's really easy, and has always worked until now. It goes through everything normally, password, and prompts. But all it does is restart the computer. (I have already restored the vista software, using acer recovery disks I made previously. I'm just trying to get the software to work. Even on a fresh install, it's malfunctioning.) Any ideas? Please help!
I have an Acer Aspire model E desktop computer Using the Acer eRecovery Management program I created a backup DVD disk I have been attempting to follow the Acer instructions to then create a backup Management glitch eRecovery Acer image of my C partition Acer eRecovery Management glitch on the D partition of the hard drive I continuously receive a quot Too Many Indexes quot failure notice only minutes into the backup I have disabled the XP quot Indexing Service quot which was not activated in the first place In chatting with a tech for Acer out of India he said to forget the instructions and that you simply cannot back up to the D partition without getting error messages and that you must back up your image to DVDs through the optical drive I had at least hoped to back up to an external hard drive but the version of this program does not allow for anything but backing up to the D partition on the hard drive or to the DVD optical drive My questions are Is there some way to overcome the quot Too many indexes quot error message so that I could simply back up an image to my hard drive D partition as Acer intended If not is there a way to back up to an external hard drive perhaps with an updated version of the program Or do I simply have to burn DVDs to make the backup snapshot image of my C drive which has about GB All of this has come up because I need to reinstall my XP operating system which has become quot clogged quot with not hard drive format for some four years due to this very problem with the Acer program Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated Thank you
90GB of data on your C: drive? It certainly is "clogged up"!
If you want to 'start afresh' with a clean installation of XP you need to do a recovery from the backup partition which should be on a hidden partition on your C: drive.
Here is the standard Acer Recovery Instructions:
1. Power on the machine
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the “Alt” key and press the “F10” key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click “Restore to Factory Default Settings”
4. Click “OK” to continue
5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
6. Once eRecovery has run, press “OK” to reboot unit.
Back up all your user files (Documents, Pictures etc) to the D: drive before doing the factory recovery because everything on C: drive will be overwritten with new data!
If you then want to create a backup image on to a hard drive you'll have to use a third-party disk-imaging application as even the current version of Acer eRecovery is unable to do that.
So, I bought an Acer 5742 with Windows 7 last month, and I have reason to believe I was attacked by a virus.
Losing hope, I try using the 4 recovery disks GeekSquad gave me when I bought the computer.
I choose the option to restore my computer to factory defaults while backing up my personal files.
Everything goes smoothly up until the "updating system" part. According to the time-elapsed, it's been 10 hours since its been frozen on 99% (still on Disc 3 of the 4). I'm going to put in Disc 4 and leave it for another couple hours while I go to school.
If I don't see any changes, I'm going to force a shut down and reboot the computer.
Will this harm my computer, and possibly corrupt my system?
(also, I know it's only been 10 hours, but that's still pretty long for system recovery, don't ya think?)
not really, cant do any more harm than already as clearly not installing
can you not boot to to recovery console? or use the recovery disc to boot to the image that is on your comp instead of , for now, trying a full reinstall

Is anyone familar with how the Acer eRecovery Management system works We have a Acer Extensa laptop with Windows Vista installed I have created a backup restore point I was wondering what the difference between the four options for creating backup disks The difference between Create factory default disc Create user backup disc Create current system configuration backup disc Create driver and application backup disc I have read the help section in the information Management Acer eRecovery further eRecovery Management application and a manual I found online but I still don't understand the difference between these options especially between Acer eRecovery Management further information Create user backup disc and Create current system configuration backup disc My goals are to have a full backup of the laptop as it currently is including Windows Vista and all files I am still used to older operating systems where you had a disk to reload the OS after a format or if serious problems occured Am I able to create just a Windows Vista disk Also if I am able to create a disk how do you reload Windows Vista when we don't have any type of code to enter Second question having to deal with a Windows Vista reload disk is it possible to use this disk if you were to install this on a new hardrive say for example we upgrade to a larger hardrive on the laptop Sorry for all the questions I just have not been able to find any further details on what the backup disc options actually do and have never owned a operating system that didn't have a disk Thanks

Hi there So i have this desktop computer which i built from an old Acer Predator The only Hardware left from the old pc is the RAM and the HDD though I recently swapped motherboards I now have the MSI z -g and yesterday my pc started to prompt me with my windows not being genuine I tried to reenter my activation code without much luck I then watched a SP1 Boots Management to Win7x64 Acer eRecovery video on youtube which told me to download some software to fix the problem Considering the over k views and the overall positive comments i took a chance Now after ive run the software Open activator or Win7x64 SP1 Boots to Acer eRecovery Management something my pc continuisly boots to Acer eRecovery Management Ive tried to run the complete factory reset but the program seems to stop and the pc reboots automaticly while it is quot Updating System quot Then it boots up again and prompts me to reset my hdd once again Anyone know how to fix this Been considering just reinstalling windows but it would be nice if i could keep atleast the other partion of my hdd Thanks in advance
first of all, you cannot use the operating system that came with acer, that is why it was declared non genuine. when you replaced the motherboard, you should have purchased a new os to be legal and genuine.http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/win7x64-sp1-boots-to-acer-erecovery-management-837585.html

I am using the Acer eRecovery option to recover Windows 7 operating system. However when it reaches point of installing Office 2010 it freezes and does not move forward. Wanted to know if there is a way to get past this , even if I can bypass the Office 2010 install and complete the Windows OS install.
I don't know if there is a way to get past the stalling, but you should be able to do a clean install of Windows 7 without using the eRecovery partition if you have a valid Certificate of Authenticity sticker containing a 25 character Product Key.
You'd end up with a fresh Windows installation without any of the other stuff Acer may have included--no Office, no extra stuff. Just Windows 7.
You'd need to download a Windows 7 ISO and burn it to a DVD or get it onto a USB thumb drive if you don't have a DVD burner.
How can I stop acers erecovery from trying to install as it just hangs & prevents me from installing the other software, its for an acer aspire 5315, Thanks

Anyway, on my Acer laptop, I have the eRecovery Management software. When I was trying to restore the OS to factory defaults, it gave me an error that said "Hard drive configuration is not set to factory default. Restore aborted".
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I guess this one can be marked as answered JJ,
You somehow deleted or formatted the recover partition

Do you have the recovery disks or a recovery partition?
Is D2D enabled in bios?

reinstalled back to factory settings acer vista stuck in process 8/9 loop on erecovery how do I resolve this any help please micky
It may be a symptom of a failing hard drive so test it with diagnostic software which loads from a bootable CD. The links are here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm...http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-vista/install-erecovery-89-loop-on-acer-aspire-vista/13537.html
Hi I recently rebuilt an acer laptop using the recovery partion (Alt+f10).
Once vista was installed it goes on to install the 12 'Acer Empowering Technology' programmes from acer.
The laptop is now continueing to freeze when installing the Acer eRecovery Solution.
Figured it out myself
Create a new partition (D:) and call it Data
Reboot the system
Since upgrading my Acer Aspire 9813WKMi I've had compatibility issues with Enet Management and the utility is blocked. I've checked on the Acer Support Site but they don't have any utilitiy downloads for Windows 7 yet. Any ideas how I can resolve this?

Welcome to Seven Forums. If you get a stop error I think it's an error code 10, you might want to zip up the minidump file so those members that are really good at reading them might be able to help. At this point my only other suggestion is to contact Acer support and see if they have any ideas. Fabehttp://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/83042-acer-aspire-5942g-powersmart-management-problem.html

The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5742, IntelCore i3-380M
I am attaching a few pictures of what comes on the screen when I turn it on.
Even in safe mode it does not let me log in, it attempts repairs, it fails and then goes to the black screen with the white cursor.
If I try to start windows normally it loads the logo and then goes to the black screen.
Yesterday, in an attempt to do repairs it was replacing invalid security drivers or something like that and it was taking ages so I had to turn it off.
For the last week it took very long to start up, failing to configure windows but it would eventually let me log in.
Since yesterday I am only getting the black screen. it is windows 7 by the way.
i need a very quick reply please
Quick reply!!! Save your data and restore back to factory. Always have a back up image of your OS on a external drive for next time you have this problem!!http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/acer-aspire-5742-intelcore-i3-380m-goes-black-after-acer-logo-loads-984193.html
I restarted my computer like normal and for whatever reason the computer is now stuck at the Acer boot screen. I try to press DEL to enter Setup and I even tried pressing F12 to go into the Boot Setup, but for whatever reason the computer does not respond to anything.
To shut it off I have to hold down the power button and eventually it shuts off.
Stuff to know:
- I have a wireless mouse and keyboard being used on that desktop.. Should I perhaps try to plug in a corded mouse and keyboard?
- I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate.
Hi everyone I'm at my wits end! I cannot get my webcam to work. I have tried numerous options posted in different forums and on websites but nothing seems to work. Even when I went to the Acer update driver search site. When I added my model number I got about a dozen driver options but as soon as I put in my OS Windows 7 (64 Bit) it came back with no drivers. I've noticed in a number of forums that peoples webcams where working fine in Windows XP but when they updated to Windows 7 they lose the ability for their computers to find their webcams. Is this an inherent problem with Windows 7 and is there anyway to fix it short of buying an external webcam. Surly there must be a way to get it to work !!!
Hi Brett ... Welcome to Seven Forums ... Does the Webcam show in the Device Manager ? ...
Do you have any errors in the Device Manager ...?
Have you tried the Cyberlink WebCam Application 1.0.1523 23.6 MB ? ....
Previously, this button would open Windows Media Center when pressed. Though it has stopped doing that and don't know why. How can I fix this?
All the other Mediatouch keys are working fine.

My system is roughly months old I had used the upgrade software that Acer provided to upgrade from Vista to home premium There was no issues with the install and everything worked great for a month and then it started going in to Acer M3203 Windows software Acer's upgrade and Aspire 7 deep hibernation The only way to wake it was to unplug Acer Aspire M3203 and Acer's Windows 7 upgrade software the power from the tower I did everything I could think of from editing the registry to updating drivers to finally reinstalling everything No go so I packed it up and sent it back to Acer I just got it back from Acer's repair depot They had to replace the motherboard hard drive and fans on the system They performed a factory restore and told me that I was good to go and updating shouldn't be an issue I went to use the upgrade dvd's from Acer and low and behold the hibernation thing started again It took me four attempts to restore it back to factory Now it seems stable running Vista I am in the process up updating the drivers and windows stuff so time will tell Is it me or is Acer systems flakey Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can go about updating to Windows without having to format every week I have tried doing clean installs without going the upgrade path and it still behaves badly Sometimes it won't even turn on Or is it just possible that the pc I purchased just can't handle Windows
Are you booting the Acer Win7 Upgrade Media DVD to do a clean install? You can do that to get the cleanest possible install, without the corruption that is imported from Vista in an in-place Upgrade.
The installer is driver-complete, but afterwards any missing drivers which don't quickly arrive in Optional Windows Updates can be found on the apps/drivers CD along with favorite apps like Works, cam, etc. Others can be found on the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model computer, Adobe (flash, Reader) and Java (runtime, free Ofc suite) sites.
I have tried everything I can think of I have already read through a few other threads with the same issue but none of the fixes work for me It gets to the acer screen logo not boot Acer will Acer Aspire E15 past loads that little loading circle then it just goes black I have tried pushing Alt F and it got to the acer screen and said please wait then the screen went black again I have installed Windows on a USB drive and have went into the bios and enabled the boot menu as well as change the order Acer Aspire E15 will not boot past Acer logo of the boot to the USB This got me a bit closer but still stuck After about minutes it finally went to a purple screen and a window popped up asking to install I selected my language and clicked install it went to another screen that says setup is starting and it's been sitting this way for about minutes now I'm out of ideas Don't have a clue why this is going on This is a friend of mines computer he said he was in the middle of playing a game and the laptop froze then something came up and then it shut off When it booted up it wouldn't load past the acer screen
Try booting to Memtest86 you can burn a CD and I think it can also be run from a USB bootable flash drive. This will test your memory for problems and also let you know that the hardware in general will run (except the hard drive which is ignored at this stage. If the memory is good, then boot to your hard drive mfg's utility or Seatools from Seagate (DOS version) the same as Memtest but it tests your hard drive to see if it is just the drive that you cannot install on.If the memory and hard drive tests OK then you may just need to delete all current partitions on the hard drive before trying to install. If the memory does not test good, try cleaning the contacts on the memory with a soft pencil eraser and snapping them in and out 5 or 6 times to also burnish the slot's contacts. Then try memtest again on one stick at a time in case one stick is bad, swap and try again. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-8/acer-aspire-e15-will-not-boot-past-acer-logo/1671.html
My acer active pen is not working consistently. The screen recognizes it sometimes, and other times it does not. The only way I can get it to recognize is by power cycling the pen (taking the battery out and putting it back in), or by power cycling the laptop. I replaced the battery so I know it is not a battery issue. I have an Acer Aspire R13 (Model #R7-371T), and recently upgraded to Windows 10. I was having this problem earlier with Win 8.1, but it seems to have gotten worse with Windows 10. I have updated to all the most recent drivers. Very frustrating. Any thoughts?

To start off, this laptop has been horrible since the day I got it. I can't even believe how slow it is; it lags doing even the simplest tasks. That aside; I was prompted to update an AMD Catalyst Radeon (something like that) software, so I did. The screen went black and nothing happened for almost 10 hours.I eventually decided to turn off the power. Now that I turn it back on it's just stuck on "Acer explore beyond limits" screen. It has been like this for days now. I've tried turning it on and off again several times. It's just stuck at that screen. What do I do? How do I fix this? I need this computer for school.

Is this normal for a 6 month old machine..? I can't update windows 10. The message says that there's not enough room to update windows 10, so I buy a 32 gig card....still it says theres not enough space,,,so I try a 32gig usb stick....still no joy.....So I take it back to PC World where I'm treated like a child and told that they won't take it back...they'll just send it back to Acer to have windows 8 put on ...??! and did I realise it was a cloudbook and NOT a laptop...!! Left the shop with steam coming out of my ears...so, my question is this....Has anyone out there succeeded in updating their windows 10 cloudbook Because that despite having owned and worked with computers for over 30 years I cannot solve this problem....(Nor have I experienced such poor ill informed salespeople as I have in PC World....but that's another story...

hi there everyone,
can anyone help,
Acer aspire m1610 or acer aspire t180
i have these two computers and would like to know witch one i should upgrade,
wich one is the better computer- (
and when decided
what should i upgrade
and what are the best parts to use,
or the best way to do it,
and how do i know what parts are compatible
im not looking to spend a fortune,
but i dont mind spending a bit, as long as its worth it,
First, each model has multiple hardware specifications. So I have no way of knowing the hardware configurations of either unit that you have.
Second, upgrades are limited on OEM PC's. Your only options will be RAM and the video card. And in the case of the video card, the power supply may not be able to handle a decent card.
It has worked since I bought it around 6 weeks ago but for the last week or so the connection has failed randomly. Yesterday it stopped working totally. The windows diagnostic report says that Windows could not detect a properly installed network adaptor- and to re-install the driver. How do I do this? Thanks
Hi Mills,1. Get to Device Manager(Hold Windows Key & then tap letter "X")2. Under device manager check if you find any other Devices or unknown devices,. if yes you may need another computer to download the files from acersupport.com3. If Not expand network adapters, check if you see the Wireless adapter, Right click uninstall & restart the unit.4. If the Device is not detected underOthers / Unknown devices / network adapter, please contact Acer as it is a suspected Hardware Failure.http://community.acer.com/t5/Legacy-Laptops-and-Netbooks/Acer-Aspire-Acer-Aspire-Switch-10-will-not-connect-to-wireless/td-p/344379/jump-to/first-unread-message

I finally found a soluation after months of wondering why this is happening. It's my Virgin Media connection, the modem/router as when I connected to my phones wifi, teethering, Acer Care Center instantly updated so something within Virgin Medias network is blocking connectivity. I did try the Virgin Media's router as cause by diabling firewall etc. but with no joy I gave up but didn't try another connection until just now with tethering where as stated problem is sorted. I will report this to Virgin Media and post back anything relevant to this.

A warm hello to all members of this forum.
Recently, I got an Acer z5610 AllInOne computer.
Everything is installed and working fine.
The problem I have now, is that I need to install a second hard drive(64 bit SSD)
I opened the case, installed the drive, and windows recognised it immediately.
Now I want to change the system from old HDD to the new SSD. Is there a shortcut? Acer eRecovery doesn't seem to support system drive change.
Thanks in advance!
Hello ethanasi, welcome to Seven Forums!
Before we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going.
In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a snip of that.
Be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

i really need some help an not sure were to am all new to this, i did a recovery a few month back taken it back to factory setting and now something else has gone wrong. i have tryed searching the whole laptop for it an eRecovery has just disappered does anybody can help me or what i can do please
Enter the BIOS setup and make sure D2D(Acer System Recovery) is enabled. Then turn the laptop off and turn it back on. As its showing the Acer screen press ALT and F10 together, maybe even tap it, and it shoudl launch the Acer eRecovery process.
I brought an Acer Aspire 3003LC with WinXP preloaded.
I brought it to try out Linux and are having fun with Ubuntu at the moment.
I removed the second 20gig ACERDATA partition as it was empty (I thought) to make room for Linux.
But I see now that eRecovery from eManager still tries to use this parition so the laptop slows when ever it tries.
My question is, how do I totally disable eRecovery? as I can do my own backups. Guess I should have done this before I removed the ACERDATA partition, ah? but didnt know about this feature.
Actually, may have solved this one.
I disabled check.exe using msconfig as it belongs to the Acer backup Manager which I do not require.
I can concentrate on learning Linux now!
This is a beaut after a string of fluke circumstances I had to order Acer's eRecovery disks I had to install Windows on a new drive They consist of System disk Recovery disks and a language disk I booted off of the system disk and made it through most of the third recovery disk when the power got interrupted I wasn't sure how smart the set up program was Would it pick up where it left off or would I need to just start over and let it wipe out what I had done so far It didn't pick up where it left off Rebooting with either the recovery eRecovery Disks Acer disk as the boot device Acer eRecovery Disks or off of the hard drive resulted with the error Windows has failed to start Insert your Windows installation disk and restart your computer Select language and then Repair Acer eRecovery Disks your computer Unfortunately Acer's programmers don't allow you to do this I put in the original system disk that worked fine on the brand new empty drive However with the unfinished install the disk doesn't allow a re-install It says Please complete your operating system install before doing system recovery I can't What idiot at Acer doesn't allow for a failed install where a user can't start over With an empty drive it gave options from recovering the OS to doing a full factory install recovery but with a failed install it doesn't allow the option to wipe out what was done and start over It's absurd I'm going to boot from an Ubuntu DVD try to delete the files and see if the System Recovery will do an install like it did initially How can a company release a product so poorly implemented I guess they figure a Windows install never fails
Update: I booted the PC with Ubuntu and deleted the files, hoping the system install program would start again but it must be checking for hidden system files because I still got the message "Please complete your operating system install before doing system recovery". Unbelievable. I posted this on a YouTube video posted by Acer Support on eRecovery since trying to contact them on phone or email seems difficult. They always require my serial number and when i enter it I am told my machine is no longer under warranty.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/495898/acer-erecovery-disks/

I have an acer Aspire laptop 5920G, it is about 4 years old with Vista Home Premium
I've used the installed Acer Erecovery backup program regularly when prompted by the application.
After the last backup all backup points has disappeared - it shows no backup points exist
Prior to this backup there were a number of points shown by the log.
The D data drive is about 1/3 full
As far as Acer goes my laptop dies not exist so I can't email their support site.
Could you suggest what I can do to access these points please?
Any help greatfully accepted.
Although there has been no response so far can I add some more info here?
Looking at drive D there is a hidden folder: erData.
In a sub folder there is one call Images. This clearly holds all the backup files, date stamped over the life time of my machine.
I've tried Acer support but there is no way of posting a question since the site all revolves around current machines.
Any suggestions please?
I like to think of myself as someone who knows his way around a computer but Acer wrong. eRecovery...gone sadly ended up picking up quite a virus one that shut down most of the functions on my computer and one that pretty much did not allow me to open any sorta software Acer eRecovery...gone wrong. The only option I had left was to restore my computer to factory settings I did not have the disks so I used the built in eRecovery partion everything Acer eRecovery...gone wrong. seemed to be running fine or so I thought After less than an hour I already found myself watching a screen showing Software Installation this process went pretty quickly then I found myself stuck on the NTI Media Maker v I thought that of course this would be quite a large file so left my computer and checked back later about hours later something did not seem right I have turned off the computer and turned it back on and had it install for plus but I am still stuck on whenever I boot up my computer it always goes to this screen so there really is no way to avoid it So now I ask you you wonderful people of techguy org to help me computer programming skills are pretty much not present at all for me so don t want anything as diffcult as rewritting the entire code of my computer or anything like that and I REALLY don t want to spend dollars to pay someone to do it right around the holidays Computer is an Acer Aspire Notebook model - right now I am using an old toshiba notebok to post this so not sure of all of the info about it Thank you very much for your time nbsp
Hi and welcome.
If the 'built in eRecovery partition' is damaged in some way - you will never be able to restore it to factory settings.
Your only option may be to use a UBS Dvd drive and re-install Win 7.
Dvd drive similar to ones shown here.
Greetings to all forum users I have my daughter's Acer T laptop running Windows Home Premium with GB DDR memory The original HD failed and I had to purchase the eRecovery media from Acer as she had not created them when it was working fine I installed the new HD a GB Seagate but when I run the eRecovery I am able to choose the UI Language and on the next screen where the choice of recovery options appear the only one of the options available is Exit Both the Restore to Factory Settings and the Restore OS Saving Data options are grayed out I tried changing the SATA method in the BIOS from ACHI to IDE I wrote Tech Support but the system is months old and out of warranty and the only help they offered was to tell me to partition the drive with one partition formatted NTFS directions to their support link I searched their site and found an ISO file use to prepare the HD That also did not help I would be grateful for any help I can get Thank You very much
Try wiping the HD first with Diskpart Clean Command from the Win7 installer or System Repair Disk accessing DISKPART At PC Startup.
If this fails, wipe it again and this time format it NTFS Primary marked Active using Step 2.2 in SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation.
If this fails make sure HD registers in BIOS setup, reset BIOS to defaults and try again. Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS
Try it in both AHCI and IDE mode.
If these all fail, everything you need is here to get a superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
I have an Acer Aspire 5253-BZ660. It was running slow so I reformatted the hard drive. I've used both the recovery discs and the recovery partition and on both when it gets to the Clear.fi program it freezes. I mean I've left the computer on overnight and when I wake up it's still there. I was able once to get out of the erecovery and use Windows 7 but I can't get it to do it again.
Is there anyway I can get out of the erecovery and just use my computer?
I've used both the recovery discs and the recovery partition << I think you should try one or the other and not both - Do they both stall on the same item ?Hi -http://www.acer.com/clearfi/download/ << Link for Clear.fi Zip file download if this helps -You may be able to download the Zip file in Safe Mode with Networking, or transfer it to your Acer with a USB drive -Good Luck -http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/463972/acer-erecovery-freezes/
I have an Acer AX1200-U1711A and was wondering if anybody has a copy of the eRecovery discs with the Windows Vista operating system on it? I have a valid product key - I just need the Acer branded eRecovery discs..
This isn't Ebay or a site for buying and selling. Try CraigsList.
i tried the eRecovery thing (this would be my 2nd time) only that this time it is giving me the following error:
"Fail in creating or opening a file" and when i click OK it says "Cannot find file C:\preload.tag" i click OK again and it goes to "Cannot find file X:\preload.tag" then i click OK once more and it goes to a BLACK SCREEN that says "NTLDR is missing, Press any key to restart" ..... i click all and any key and it stays on the same screen... I cannot get into windows. I try restarting the computer and using safe mode but it wont even let me get into the menu to use safe mode.
So now everytime i restart the computer i immediately get "NTLDR is missing, Press any key to restart" its annoying. help please.
you can read this and give it a try
i have a acer aspire SA85 running on xp & when i last sent the computer away for repair at acer the erecovery was removed for some reason i have recovery discs that wont work, i have tried ALT+F10 this doesnt work people have told me to get into BIOS & change something in there i cant get into BIOS is there anyway i can recover the computer if someone could give me step by step instructions that would be great, i dont want to send the computer back to acer if i can help it as they did nothing to it last time it was sent off & it was there for months the only thing they seemed to have done was delete erecovery
You need to get into the bios. You need to change the boot order to the CD drive. (one of the screens in the bios should have a way to set the boot from cd to the #1 spot. Once you do this the recovery cd's will work.
I'm running Acer eRecovery v7.7.8 with recovery disks. Having run smoothly, it has been on 98% for about half an hour. Is there something wrong or is it at some naturally slow part of the recovery process?
Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.
Recovery from discs is always slower than using the on board recovery partition, but it shouldn't take more than two or three hours from start to finish when using discs.
Give it a bit longer as it can take some time to configure the files.
I have an acer desktop computer model#AM1641-U1521A. I try to enter acer erecovery management and I get a error message saying acer.empowering.framework.supervisor.exe is infected. I would like to restore my acer laptop to factory default settings using the acer erecovery tool, however I always get a 'hard drive configuration not set to factory defaults' error. I have also run acer erecovery using Alt F10 etc. but when I got there, the 'restore to factory defaults' option was greyed out and I could only click exit.
I have done this before once, and I had no problems. Please help!
What model Acer?
Boot into the BIOS and check to see if D2D Recovery is enabled. If not enable it and try ALT + F10 again

Let me list all the relevant data first My original on board hard drive had a mechanical failure and I bought a bare Hitachi replacement recently The computer recognizes the new drive in the BIOS menu I ordered an Acer eRecovery disc to reinstall my OS I failing Acer eRecovery disc know that I didn t incorrectly pick a recovery disc because the site only asked for my serial number and then Acer eRecovery disc failing selected my recovery disc for me When I insert the correct recovery disc it loads the windows recovery screen as expected but when it gets to the screen where it wants me to select recovery options both quot restore to factory defaults quot and quot reinstall OS but keep personal files quot options are grayed out and only the quot exit quot Acer eRecovery disc failing option is selectable So if the recovery disc doesn t work on a blank hard drive which is my guess what plan is there to restore my system in the case of hard drive failure I m really confused why the recovery disc isn t working I ve made sure that quot D D recovery quot option is enabled in my BIOS menu Any help is greatly appreciated I m at a loss now that I ve ordered their recovery disc Thanks nbsp
Got a friend who bought an Acer Travelmate 2355 Xc last year. Recently he's been having problems with it and needs to do a restore. Following the instructions in the acer users guide we found that the eRecovery software is missing.
Does anyone know how or where we would be able to find this software?
Thanks in advance
if its XP then find someone with a original or OEM xp disk..and try to do a repair..
everytime i try to factory reset my pc with erecovery managment, it never finishes once it gets to the end, it will say installing sysprep - factory mode, 52/52 and never finishes after that. is there any third party software that can factory restore my system? i noticed windows boots just fine even tho i didn't finish the whole software installation process.
Did you make the Recovery Disks. If so use them. If not try making them now. You can also order them from Acer Tech Support.
Or find a Win7 retail installer to clean reinstall with the Product Key on COA sticker which is a superior install. Details in Perfect Install link below in my signature.

I am trying to port my OS to a new HDD using the built-in Acer eRecovery program. I loaded the 1st disc fine and it got to 41%. I then inserted the second disc and it got to 75% when I received an "error=23" message and the restore failed. Any suggestions? I have to finish this by the 7th.

I Have Acer 5253 And I Have Found Out That I Can Upgrade To Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 Pro. The Question Is Will I Be Able To Keep The Acer eRecovery Management? I Hope Someone Can Help Me About This????
[subject line edited to reflect new topic]
Yes it will work but it will re-install windows 8 not 8.1, since it's the defaul OS.By the way, i suggest you to create the recovery media using the Acer erecovery, just to have a backup if something goes wrong.http://community.acer.com/t5/Legacy-Laptops-and-Netbooks/Upgrade-To-Windows-8-1-and-keep-Acer-eRecovery-Management/td-p/325182/jump-to/first-unread-message
I'm trying to restore my Acer Aspire to factory settings and have run the eRecovery Management tool using the recovery discs I made when I got the laptop. This seems to work fine up until the time it reboots when it gets stuck on process 13/29. I have tried re-running this a couple of times but gets stuck at this point each time. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Have you made any partition changes to the original set up? When you do the Factory Restore, you must make sure that you have two partitions( C:system and D: Data).
The hidden partition should be left alone.
Hello there BleepingComputer I am here today not with a malware problem really but some software problems so I beleive A few months back I installed Windows dual-boot on my XP Now without knowing it has obviously changed the Master Boot Record which Acer eRecovery recyclebin problem. working, not plus a Acer eRecovery has some special coding on it to make the eRecovery actually work Now everytime I go to do the eRecovery its does the normal prompt for restart restart and then it just boots back into XP and not the recovery console I am trying to restore the factory settings and this is because I do not have a CD Drive with my laptop therefore eRecovery is the only way for me to reformat So yes any recommendations contacted Acer my warrantry is up Now another problem I m having I once sent a large file named quot con quot into the recycle bin now thinking back it caused nothing but problems on both my website and my desktop After I went to clear the recycling bin it said that it didn t exist But Acer eRecovery not working, plus a recyclebin problem. the thing is it clearly does because when I Acer eRecovery not working, plus a recyclebin problem. clear the recylebin It says the error that the directory quot con quot could not be found also when I open Acer eRecovery not working, plus a recyclebin problem. up the recycler in CMD there are clearly still entrys Does anyone have any recommendations
Can you perform the eRecovery from within Windows? Some OEM's like Acer and Dell include this functionality via Windows under Start Menu.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/352691/acer-erecovery-not-working-plus-a-recyclebin-problem/
I got my laptop (Acer Travelmate 6292) with Windows Business Vista installed. At one point the SP2 was downloaded and installation was started. Then I ran into what appears to be a typical bug for Vista; the system gets stuck in a loop and keeps on shutting down and restarting, every time it gets to the screen "configuring updates: stage 3 out of 3, 75% complete, do not turn off your computer".
As I don't have the DVD, I cannot do the Windows-repair. I tried to do a restore through Acer eRecovery, but when pressing Alt+F10 at the white ACER BIOS screen, the system just continues starting up and ignores the command.
Can someone help to get out of the loop, without having to use the Windows-dvd? Preferably by just setting the system back to an earlier configuration that worked, but other solutions are welcome too.
Windows Vista Business SP2 is around 435MB, and takes some time to install. Especially with the mobile processor. Is there a chance that it's just working away in the background?
Can you get to the Desktop without it throwing you out and rebooting? If so; Check for updates on Windows Update.
Click Start , click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.
In the navigation pane, click Check for updates.
After Windows Update has finished checking for updates, click View available updates.
Click to select the check boxes for the updates that you want to install, and then click Install.
Note; If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or provide confirmation.

Following my other thread about HomeGroup and wifi printing issues I took the advice of the seller of my new Acer Aspire E - - to reset to factory setting The user manual instructions he supplied did not correspond with my configurations so instead I took the Acer erecovery screen after Acer of Black Death erecovery route After a long night of backing up all the data on the computer it took several hours and DVDs following instructions for Acer erecovery Recovery Disc is back in the DVD player got the error message that windows cannot startup run can't recall exact message Not many Black screen of Death after Acer erecovery options so clicked ok on dialog box On bottom of screen a bright quot progress Black screen of Death after Acer erecovery bar quot looked like it is loading and then the laptop shuts itself off Waiting for it to turn back on but it did not DVD tray would not open so had to use the paper clip trick to open it thinking pushing Black screen of Death after Acer erecovery it in again would trigger some response Nothing The blue power light is on and the blue indicator to the left of it lights up for a second when I press hold power button but nothing else happens The screen is black as death and there is no sound indicating that anything is running How do I get this thing to quot wake up quot so that I can reinstall the material on the backup discshttp://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/379883-black-screen-death-after-acer-erecovery.html
Ok so here's my problem...
I bought an acer aspire 1640z some time ago now and ive never once had a problem with it!
I now want to create a back up disk/disks to safetly have them to hand should anything go wrong, my problem is usuing empowering technology, ERecovery to be precise I click to make a back up image onto a disk, it asks me to insert either 5 cd's or 1 dvd disk and then i hit next, then everytime this error comes up!
Making BackupDisk1 needs Drive(:)
Space 700MB/4GB for CD/DVD
Now there isnt anything wrong with my disk drive i can still pay dvd's and games, and i can still write to dvd's and cd's.
Could it be my Empowering Technology Disk drive path registry files have become mixed up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have eRecovery discs for my Acer Veriton VZ4620G.
Disc #1 starts eRecovery Management and proceeds to "Select Restore Type", but I cannot get any further.
I have left-clicked and right-clicked on every option, but the only way I get any response is "Exit"
Then the cycle starts over.
The only drive listed in the Boot Menu is the DVD.
I would like to be able to retain user data, but anything is better han what I have now, which is nothing.
The thing just quit after running a one-time free AVG tune-up.
However, I am not faulting AVG, because I like their software. It is most likely something which I did, not the software.
Hi All I want to do a clean install of Vista on my -year old Acer laptop I have searched here and found some threads but nothing is working There is no eRecovery management tools when windows fresh working -- Acer install not need eRecovery is running booted No quot c Acer quot folder When I follow the Acer instructions Immediately press ALT on the keyboard and Acer eRecovery not working -- need fresh install start tapping F Continue holding ALT and Acer eRecovery not working -- need fresh install tapping F as the unit boots up A screen stating quot Starting Acer Erecovery quot should appear Release ALT and stop tapping F at this point After a few seconds I get a Windows quot Edit Boot Options quot screen with quot Edit boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista quot It provides two options quot Enter action quot and quot Escape exit quot both do the same thing and boot through to Windows I have tried this about times and always the same result No Acer eRecovery screen The PQService partition is alive and healthy so I know it is there just can't get to it Any thoughts and suggestions Of course I have no recovery CD Thanks
Can you post a screen shot of your disk management window? To get there, click start orb, right click computer, select manage, in the left pane select disk management. You should see all your drives and the hidden partition containing the OS that should say healthy (recovery partition).http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/214189-acer-erecovery-not-working-need-fresh-install.html
Long story short, I edited the boot.ini file where I wasn't supposed to (On my Acer Aspire One AOA150), now I need to boot from the XP installation disk to use the recovery console to fix it, BUT when I boot from the XP Home Edition disk, it starts eRecovery.
What can I do to boot the disk instead of eRecovery, so I can rebuild my boot.ini?

I'm sorry. Rules prevent us from helping with any password issues. You could try a blank, but if there is a password hint, then someone definitely set a password on that machine.

I've Acer extensa 5630ez model ,preinstalled vista sp1....problem is when I want to restore system in factory default or restore system in user back up by clicking empowering technology icon, it gives nothing except system restart with normal booting. On the other side recovery from optical drive (2 dvd disk)by pressing f-12 button works well. What's the reason behind it?
