I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What is your complete model number? Example of a complete model number: Acer Laptop Aspire R 14 R3-471T-76BM Edit: To answer your question, yes I replaced the 1 TB HDD with a 250 GB SSD on an R14 and used the USB factory default recovery drive without any problems. (Although it was an R14 that came pre-installed with Windows 8.1). However, on a different R14 that came pre-installed with Windows 10, I successfully created a USB factory default recovery drive, and then wiped the SSD drive, and then sucessfully put it back to factory condition with the USB factory default recovery drive. My only suggestion would be to..... 1. Re-install the 1 TB HDD2. Backup your important personal files3. Reset/restore the computer to factory condition: http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29934/related/1/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNDY0MjEyMTg... 4. Create USB flash drive recovery media (again)5. Remove the 1 TB HDD6. Install clean SSD(if you don't know how to have a clean SSD, then read this.)7. Insert the factory default USB recovery drive that you created in step 48. Turn on computer and reset your PC.9. That's it.

I went through lot of forums and they suggest it's an Acer MBR issue and that it may have been deleted or something ?? Someone suggested me to use partedit and change partition ID to 07 and then run some command like " mbrwin.exe install ^@(% ", but after doing that I couldn't load any of the OSs. I somehow was able to repair (recovered as it shows in the dual boot screen now) both of them by using windows 7 DVD (thank God). And on top of that, Acer D2D still doesn't work. Any solutions on the issue ? Thanks!

Sorry I must be dense. what is the issue? Once you went from vista to win 7 the recovery partition was for all intents and purposes dead. It can only (using a vista dvd) restore you to vista.

What was it you were trying to do?

You can of course (if you have a win 7 dvd) set up a new recovery partition that will get you back to win 7

So?

Just boot from the upgrade disk and install Windows 7. When you get to the point of activating it, you may need to call Microsoft. Just explain to them what you explained to us. They may ask for the original Windows XP license key which should be on a sticker on the case.

A:Installing XP HOME from Recovery Disks

The best thing you could do to prepare for disaster would be to image your drive. Then, if the worst comes to pass, you can restore the image and have everything back as it was, all installed programs and settings included.

There are quite a few good imaging programs. Acronis True Image is one of the best. You can back up your drive to CD's or to another drive.

http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage

As far as the recovery disks go, you'll need to either try it or wait fror someone who has your machine and disks to tell you what needs to be done. Many "recovery" disks just format the drive and return the machine to its date of birth---hardly a "restoration" when all your programs and documents are lost.

You can get a manual here if you don't have one:

Have been trying to install XP Home on an Acer Aspire 4730Z which came with Vista 32-bit operating system as a standard.

I have been trying to install XP Home SP2, I get as far as being able to boot from the CD at startup, then once the installation has finished booting and loading files, it suddenly blue-screens.

The code on the blue screen I get is the following:

0x0000007B
0xF78D2524
0xC0000034
0x00000000
0x00000000€

Anyone able to tell me what is going wrong? Or another way I can install XP rather than Vista on this laptop?

Hello everyone, As you know, today is the last day to upgrade Windows 10 for free. I have a ES-111M notebook and I want to know if I upgrade my notebook to WIN 10, will I able to recovery with Acer Recovery Management like Windows 8.1. If I cannot, I believe I can't, what should I do with recovery partition, it is really huge for my harddisk (32 gb). If I delete it, because I cannot use anyway, will my warrenty be voided? Thanks a lot.

A:Upgrade Windows 10 and Acer Recovery

1) Create a recovery media, using Acer erecovery software, an USB flash driver is needed (16-32GB); so you will be always able to revert to the factory OS installation, using that USB flash drive2)then you can delete, the recovery partition (sometimes the Acer erecovery after creating the media, will ask you to delete or not the recovery partition3) in my opinion, it will be better to backup all your personal data too and do a windows 10 clean install (wiping your HDD content, so you will have the most storage available to install windows 10) http://community.acer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/Windows-10-Installation-Recovery-Media-Creation-and-Use/... windows 10 drivers:http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/5572;-;Aspire%20ES1-111M

Stupidly I installed windows 8 preview on my acer aspire z5610 and after a few days my computer just packed it in. I am trying to recover it back to win7 (if possible) but having no success. I try booting holding down the alt and F10 keys simultaneously but without success. When I boot up it automatically goes to "preparing automatic repair" followed by diagnosing PC and then attempting repairs. It then goes to a blue screen which says "automatic repair couldn't repair your PC" and instructs me to Press "Advanced Options to repair your PC or "shut down to turn off your PC. The log file states:D:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt (stuff knows what that mens. Anyway I follow all instructions and nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me PLEASE??????

ALT+F10 is called D2D, since it will re-install windows from a recovery partition on the same HDD.you can only create a recovery media on external devices connected via USB.

I have an Acer Aspire TC 120 that came with Windows 8.1. I upgraded recently to Windows 10. Everything is working fine but when I tried to create a recovery drive and I put in a flash drive with 16 gigs it gets stuck on the page where it says put in a flash drive with 16 gigs or more. I have tried different USB ports. I have tried different flash drives some 32 gig, some 64 gig. The flash drives are recognized by the computer and I can put files on them and use the remove media command when I take them out. I have tried reformatting the flash drives in all formats offered. I have run sfc and no bad files were found. Any ideas?

Hello so I've pulled all my hair out already trying to install Windows on my Acer E - laptop in UEFI mode The laptop came with Windows preinstalled and I've used that for quite a while before deciding to wipe it and clean install Windows The laptop does not have a CD DVD drive thus I can only boot installation media from an USB drive The original installation was in UEFI mode and in order to switch it to Legacy BIOS so I could install my 7 Windows Acer E1-510 - UEFI Installing Windows I had to download an update for Acer E1-510 UEFI - Installing Windows 7 the BIOS which made such a switch available It installed and ran fine for some time Afterwards I decided to switch over to mainly using Ubuntu So I wiped the drive saving only crucial data like photos and such to a backup USB drive I have installed Ubuntu in UEFI mode with GRUB as my bootloader I swapped back to UEFI mode and disabled Secure Boot Since some of my applications which I use are unavailable for Linux I want to keep a Windows x installation on a small partition in a dual-boot environment so I can reach for it if I feel the need for some of my applications So borrowed a friend's PC to clone my Windows DVD to my USB drive in GPT format so I can boot from UEFI At first it was immediately giving a winload efi missing error the Setup couldn't boot but when I re-imaged it to my USB drive it Acer E1-510 UEFI - Installing Windows 7 started to work It shows up a progress bar saying quot Windows is loading files quot and then reaches the animated logo As soon as the animated logo starts the screen freezes and I get a red bar on top of my screen along with my Acer E1-510 UEFI - Installing Windows 7 fans starting to spin full-speed I've tried booting the same USB on my friend's PC and it gets to the entire installation without any issues I've reached the point where I actually choose which partition to So basically - install to A quick Google Search about the red bar yielded me that Windows doesn't support GOP which from what I've read is the functionality to display an OEM logo while the Windows is booting In Windows I'd get an Acer logo with the white dots spinning around below it suggesting Windows is starting up I've also read that to bypass that I need to enable CSM in my BIOS however I could not find such an entry anywhere in the setup utility Is there something I am missing I'd really prefer using Windows to or because of the whole Metro layout I also don't really want to wipe everything and recreate in Legacy mode I'll consider it as a last resort option Thanks for all the help

Is it possible to format and install Windows Xp Pro on Acer Aspire 7750z which originally had Windows 7 installed on it ? It is Canadian version Acer or bought in Canada anyways.

I see there is a Euro version laptop which is same model number, but it has Windows Xp on it and drivers for it to download.

My question can I use Windows Xp Pro, with the drivers on Euro version will it work ? Or will all the drivers used for Windows 7 work with Windows Xp ?

Since I prefer using Windows Xp anyways. I wish to do so if this is possible ?

Thanks

A:Installing Windows Xp Pro on Acer Aspire 7750z

If the specs are the same for the Euro model yes it should work.

A word of caution mainstream active support for XP ends in April of next year(no more security updates) and many vendors have already stopped updating drivers for XP so I would expect security issues with XP to become worse.

Hello...I will start from the begining .

I bought the Acer V5 and tried booting it up...it came with boot-up Linux which means nothing to me so I made a Windows 8 bootable USB and the problems started. First I could'n find the USB and after enabling the Legacy mode it finally found it and booted from it. Turned out the partitions are GPT and as I made the USB MBR it couldn't install so I canceled which I guess was my mistake but there was no other option. After that I created the bootable USB with GPT partition scheme and tried again. Unfortunately this time I got something called GNU GRUB....wth? I googled around and found the commands required for booting - root (hd1,0), then chainloader +1 and finally boot. Then I get the famous The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors with Status: 0xc000000e. Of course tried that couple of more times but still to no avail. I cannot recover or repair as Windows was never really installed, so I don't know what to do....Hopefully someone here would be able to help. Thanks in advance guys.

A:acer recovery not enought space. no working windows operating system.

If you have a External HD, you could copy & paste your data.
Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
than copy & paste your data to new install.

Hi fellow techies!
I'm helping a friend out with her Acer Aspire laptop- it had an issue a while ago, and in the process of trying to figure it out, it seems she accidently restored the factory defaults!
I know Acer usually keeps a "fresh" install backup on a hidden partition, so I think she's over-written her stuff with this.

My question to you guys is... is there any way to undo that? or restore her stuff?
I guess our only hope may be to get ahold of data-recovery software? ( for restoring deleted files)?

Cheers,
Jordan

You are right..there is no undoing it...but with sophisticated software some files can be saved {some of her user files will not have been written over and can be retrieved}....one has to stop using the machine immediately as to prevent further writing though

Hello tiesgr,

The dumps point to eamonm.sys as the probable cause.
eamonm.sys is related to ESET Antivirus, which is notorious for causing BSODs.

In order to eradicate the BSOD, please try to do the following:
Remove/Uninstall ESET and use MSE at least to test.

Code:

A:Acer Empowering Technology for Windows 7 Home Premium

I've W7'd a couple of recently manufactured Acer desktops designed to run Vista and which had no in house support from Acer for any change of OS. Forget the 'Empowering Technology' gimmick is my advice, and get a bulk standard keyboard if the redundant buttons bother you - but just make sure you have added all your device drivers, everything will turn out fine...

So, I have been having this issue with Windows 7 on my computer. The problem is that after time, Windows seems to get buggy as I have to reboot my computer to open certain programs, programs stop responding frequently, hold the power button of to shut it off (Hangs at "Shutting Down"), and sometimes have to deal with black screens at boot up. I've tried reinstalling Windows many times, and making sure all the drivers are installed and the problem continues. Does any anyone know how I could solve this issue?

I am repairing a customers computer and XP Home needs to be reinstalled The customer I am doing this for had his OEM hard drive replaced on his HP Pavilion desktop by someone other than me I ordered a set of system recovery cds I put the cd in the pc and when it booted from it the Home Recovery Windows XP installation said that the recovery cds were not valid with this compaq model I called Compaq and the Tech said it probably was because the windows version on the hard drive now is different than the one which was installed originally Subsequently the recovery cds only work with the windows version that originally came installed cd must check for matching product keys before installing I am assuming I told the customer he has to find out where the guy who replaced the hard disk got his version of windows Windows XP Home Recovery from so I can get that disk and install windows Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this problem Is there a work around for recovery disks with this type of error

A:Windows XP Home Recovery

Format the machine using kill disk or boot and nuke. This will wipe the
remnants of the first xp install. You may or may not need reg keys.
I did one on a compaq one time with the recovery cds, never asked
me for a key. Look around on the machine, there may be a tag with
the xp reg keys stuck on it, if so and there usually is use those keys
if need be. Always thought that it was very unsecure to leave those
tags on the box store machines. To easy to copy the reg #s

A:BSOD on Acer Aspire 5738ZG with Windows 7 Home Premium

Not a very firm answer, but several of the memory dumps blame NETIO.SYS
This is a component of the Windows networking subsystem
As such, I'd first suggest that you:
- download the latest drivers for your network device from the manufacturer's website
- uninstall the current networking drivers using Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
- install the freshly downloaded drivers and see if that stops the BSOD's

Here's a summary of the BSOD's:

I opened my monitor today to see where will a graphics card go. In most graphics card I see they come with some slots where you would connect some cables, however on my monitor those slots are built into the monitor and cannot be moved. Inside there is this long thin slot and a samll one next to it where im sure the graphics card goes. So my question is is order to ise that graphics card do I have to use all those slots on the graphic card in order for it to work?

A:Where does a graphics card go in a Windows vista 7, Acer home premium?

We can't really say unless you give us the specific model number of your PC.

Has anyone experienced no sound with Windows 7? Running Home Premium 64 bit on an Acer Aspire 5742G. A bit of a search indicates sound issues when people upgrade to 7 from XP etc, but this laptop came with 7 installed already. And there has been sound...sometimes. But more often than not, just no sound.

Troubleshooting doesn't reveal any problems. Apparently everything is "working correctly". So I suppose it could be a hardware fault. Oh and the volume is turned up and not muted

Still under warranty, so gonna go that route, but just wondering if anyone else may have come across this particular issue - and if so, how'd you fix it? I suppose downloading latest drivers could be a solution.

A:No sound with Windows 7 Home Prem. x64 on Acer Aspire 5742G

Does this have an HDMI port? Check the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound panel playback. Your "Speakers" should be set as the default playback device. If you have HDMI and the HDMI is set that would be why you are not hearing any sound on the PC's speakers. Same way if you have an S/PDIF digital output and it was selected, that would disable any speaker sound.

Im not sure if this is able to be done but I have a Windows 7 recovery disc made for an Asus computer. Problem is I built my own rig but was wondering if I could somehow use this disc to install 7. Figured it was a long shot but felt like it didnt hurt to ask.

Hi -

Not if the recovery disc was made on another system using its OS.

The best that I can do is to give you this link to Microsoft for the 90-day trial of Windows 7 Enterprise Edition -

Hi I made a bootable Windows XP CD and decided XP from Windows recovery Installing disk to reinstall pre-installed Installing Windows XP from recovery disk windows xp home edition on my laptop During the setup I was shown all partitions existing on the hard disk there were partitions have no idea where all these came from well I had dual boot system but still the number of partitions seemed too big for me So I deleted those quot unknown quot partitions and was about to delete C partition but got warning that this partition contains system configuration files and if I delete it i wouldn t be able to boot from the hard drive until windows installation is finished I chose not to delete C and installed windows on unalocated disk space While doing this I knew i was doing something not very clever but i simple didn t and still don t what to do with this C partition during the new windows setup Leave it or delete it Now of course I have quot dual boot quot system again - the old win xp home and the fresh win xp home I have no windows xp installation cd only recovery So the question is what will happen if i choose to delete C partition while reinstalling win xp from a recovery cd nbsp

A:Installing Windows XP from recovery disk

Once you've installed Windows on a new partition and are up and running, you can use third-party software to delete the unnecessary partition.

Try THIS.

You should have your files backed up at all times externally. Anything less is reckless. If you dont have an external drive you can look over these steps to Sync, Backup and Store your Files to the Cloud with Skydrive - Windows 7 Forums.

If you are still running the corrupt Asus factory preinstall then I would shed the bloatware by running a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything needed is in the blue link.

It shows in the tutorial how to decide which partitions to keep (probably none if you make your Recovery Disks first), how to maintain a Clean Boot, and how drivers are handled in Win7 which is not like XP at all.

I purchased a new notebook with Windows 7 in October. During the first weeks I uninstalled McAfee and replaced the harddrive. Since November Windows Update fails with error messages and defender does not start anymore. I made several virus scans (complete) with multiple antivirus programs but nothing showed up.Since it took my days to install various software, I do not want to re-install W7. I also have no good backup that I could restore. I am really surprised that there is not even a single entry regarding the error code in the Microsoft Knowledge base or elsewhere.I really would appreciate help.

Hi all I hope someone can will give me a definitive answer for my problem I bought a brand new Acer desktop Win home premium bits and I installed a USB audio card Right after connecting it to the PC after installing the correct drivers and plugging a pair of semi-pro closed headphones to the soundcard s headphone output I noticed noise interference whenever the HDD performs problem premium) M5802 Home audio 7 interference Acer (Windows 64 any I O activity or whenever the mouse is moved Acer M5802 (Windows 7 64 Home premium) audio interference problem around which makes the PC unusable for music purposes So I sent my USB soundcard back to the manufacturer Native-Instruments which Acer M5802 (Windows 7 64 Home premium) audio interference problem kindly agreed after years of usage and an expired warranty to take it back review it and or replace it and send it back to me And they kept the promise I mention this here to give them full credit But when I received the Acer M5802 (Windows 7 64 Home premium) audio interference problem new card it made the exact same noise So I said quot I will see what happens with the cheap internal soundcard that comes with the PC quot To my surprise and disapointment it makes exactly the same damn interference noise So the interference noise comes out BOTH from the internal cheap soundcard and it gets propagated to the USB bus as well Fortunately I also have a Firewire soundcard So I installed it and it makes ZERO noise NADA BUT of course that I would like to solve the irritating audio interference with the USB because that card has many goodies like knobs to control soft synths etc After fighting with Acer technical support for many many days they finally accepted that I HAVE a hardware problem on my PC I got fed up after a while and requested a Level or support person after several nonsense replies from their technical staff Unfortunately and this is just outrageous they ask ME TO PAY to ship my brand new PC to get it served by Acer Canada or Acer US Can you believe this The PC does not even have months of usage and I have to pay to review their cheap and defective components I have read similar threads from other users that bought Dell or HP computers but they goe sent back new motherboards or properly insulated internal cables or components and I was wondering if there is a way to open my PC and just fix this myself replacing cables or parts or using glue or something I also plugged the PC to the power outlet momentarily using a cable with plugs instead of I only did this for testing ground issues and it makes no difference so it is not a ground problem I have tried everything turning off the Audio card in the BIOS unplugging every PCI card and any USB peripheral in but it makes the same annoying interference Please let me know of any hints I am just desperate and so frustrated with Acer lame warranty policies They just promote bad business and want people to spread more how bad they are compared to Dell or HP Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks and regards J nbsp

Hi all,

I would like to create a Bootable Recovery Partition On my laptop, just like the one that came from the manufacturer, except since I am migrating to Windows 7 I need to have that recovery partition be Windows 7 as well. The laptop came with Vista Home Basic Edition.

Does anyone know how to do this?

A:Installing Bootable Recovery Partition in Windows 7

Welcome to Seven Forums.

I've seen some fairly involved sites with methods to try this, don't have the links.
This is not easy to do.
Maybe someone will have a link to a way to do this.

Most people use a Backup and Restore Image program. They are easy to use and reliable,
you can backup right after installation and/or weekly and get back your OS with all programs installed and the OS activated in about 15 minutes.

Here are a couple free proven programs.

Macrium Reflect

Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition
A long list of free programs that will work With Win7.

I have a 2 year old Gateway laptop (NV5929u) i5 430M w/ 4GB. It came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed.
The computer crashed with a blue screen a few months ago, and I could not locate the recovery disks, so I ordered a set from Gateway (1 System disk, 2 Recovery disks, 1 Language disk). My attempts at recovery were unsuccessful and I got the msg: failure disk 0 partition 3. I replaced the HD with a brand new one yesterday. My attempts at recovery went a bit further, to the point that the computer loads the information on the various disks, but when it tries to restart, the screen says:

Setup is applying system settings

and shortly after that a window pops up with the msg:

Windows setup could not configure Windows to run on this computers hardware.

Do I have faulty recovery disks? Do I need to do something with the new HD prior to booting from the System/Recovery disks?

Do you have the recovery CD in the CD drive? If there is more than one CD make sure you have disc 1 inserted.

What are you seeing on screen when you start the system?

A:windows xp home edition recovery problems!!!!

It sounds to me like your recovery CD has a scratch on it.

Sometimes you can get around this problem by burning a copy of the CD. Sometimes the burning software will try to read and re-read the scratched area until it gets the data correctly, then burns that correct data to another, more reliable disk.

Make a duplicate of the 3rd CD, and see if the error goes away.

Client Bought a New Lenovo Q150. Out of the Box it gets "No boot device detected" message. Lenovo overnights a new HDD. I go on site to swap out HDD's. Still no same message, Lenovo doesn't pre-image there HDD's. So i call them to ask what to do. I get told CX should of gotten a Recovery Disk. He didn't. There only option there willing to give is DEPO service 7-10 Business Days.

Is there anywhere I can inexpensively pick up a recovery DVD, and get this guy up and running. Everything I find are for recoveries, not clean installs.

Any help would be grateful.

Please give the make and model of your computer. Also which version of WinXP Home -- original, Service Pack 1 or 2? Is this the original hard drive or a replacement? What kind of external drive is it -- hard drive or optical, and what interface? And finally, it might help to know why you reinstalled Windows.

A:Re-Installing Windows Home over XP Pro

You will probably do best by using a windows 98 floppy to boot to and then format or fdisk the c:\ drive. reboot while putting in your xp home cd. This will competely wipe your c drive.
No difference between home and pro on the NTFS file system.
I've never actually moved from xp pro to xp home (not sure why on would want to). But, formating the C: drive will do it. You want to move anything on the c: first before you do.

Hello Folks,

First of all let me apologize for asking as I know this is a pretty basic question but it has been a while since I re-installed an OS. I did some searhes on the Internet but I would also like to hear from the folks on the forum.

Here is what I would like to do. I am planning on wiping my hard disk and installing a fresh copy of Windows XP home on my Dell notebook. I have already backed up what I want to keep. Everything else is expendable.

Questions

1. What is the best/safest way to wipe the hard drive?
2. How do I create a CD to boot the PC and install the OS
3. Any other suggestions

Thanks, Bill

A:Re-installing Windows XP Home

Hmmmmm. I just found:

Quote:

Turn off your computer, then restart it with either your Windows CD or the setup disks. During the setup process, you will have the option of formatting your hard drive; choose that option to erase your damaged/hacked Windows installation, and proceed with the reinstall.

Is it really that easy and clean? I want a completly new install. Will I have the option of formatting the hard disk? If so, looks like I answered my own question.

Thanks, Bill

A:Files skipped when installing windows server 2003 on Acer Aspire AM5641

Just run sfc /scannow (copy and paste that into run, or command prompt )
You will need your Windows server 2003 CD (maybe)

Also confirm all backups are complete (even though it's just a standard Windows command, sometimes installed personal firewalls and Antivirus softwares can cause issues during the scan)

You should always have your data backed up externally. Installing over the data is VERY RISKY!

But if you have Windows.old in C drive then your data may be in there under your User name.

The hard disk of my Gateway NV78 notebook pre-installed with Windows 7 HP has crashed. I have made the recovery discs in 3 DVDs . I will be buying a new hard disk. I would like to know whether it is possible to install Windows 7 HP on the new hard disc from the recovery discs or I have to go in for a new installation disc.

Nagarajan Chennai India

A:Installing Windows 7 HP on a new hard disc from recovery discs

Hopefully wouldnt be a problem. The only 2 issues that i have come across in people trying to use the recovery disks on a replacement drive are:

1) In HP (hewlett packard) computers, sometimes this process doesnt work on aftermarket hdds unless they have been purchased from HP. The reason ascribed is that the hdd needs to be "tattoed" by HP.

2) Acer notebooks may have an issue if the new hdd is unformatted. So make sure you format and
create 2 partitions before trying to install from those disks. The second partition seems to be needed for expanding recovery files.

Should all fail, you can still do a clean install of home premium using a disk borrowed from a friend or downloaded off the web. You can activate it using the COA key on the sticker on your computer, or if that doesnt work by calling MS. Should it come to that, post back and somebody will help you out with the tuts and procedures.

I had the issue where I had SFC could not fix corrupted files I read on another thread that part of the issue could be Windows updates that prepare your system for Windows which I didn't realize was happening to my system I tried SFC from safe mode and it didn't fix it I restored the entire image of the drive using Paragon Backup and Recovery and it got Chrome Browser working but the corrupt files were still there and there were many of them I then tried the recovery option for Windows that leaves your files and applications alone and just reinstalls Windows It got to the point of reboot and when it came up in a message box against a black screen it said something like recovery wasn't able to complete on start up Now it is just in a loop where it gives that message everytime you reboot And of course the only way to reboot at that point was to unplug the computer and plug it in again Since I cannot as yet get individual files out of the external hdd I have to be able to recover the PC itself in order to get my files off that computer and onto this new one running Windows Otherwise all my emails and work files in Word etc are gone What 64-bit on Home restart cannot recovery Premium finish Windows 7 is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit cannot finish recovery on restart the best way to recover that system now and still keep the files on it intact

I tried the "create a password reset disk" wizard and although most all tutorials and sources of reference call it a disk, using my DVD/CD drive to create a "disk" is excluded from the options presented. When I edit and enter the drive letter I get the error message: "The disk is not a password recovery disk" I would prefer not to purchase a thumb drive just for this since it costs more and is easy to lose or delete.

Does anybody know what gives? Thanks in advance.

I made recovery discs of Windows 7 Home Basic. Then I uninstalled Windows 7 Home Basic and installed a fresh copy of "windows 8 pro".
I have four partitions. Now I want to re-install the genuine Windows 7 Home Basic, from the recovery discs, in a separate partition. And I want both windows on my laptop. Is it possible? I have added an image also.

A:Can I install Windows 7 Home Basic from Recovery Disc again?

Yes, it pretty easy.

Your screen shot is not much use. Disk management always gives more information.

Type diskmgmt.msc in start search box and it will pop up.

You will be better using the official win 7 Home basic installation media. The recovery discs you made will probably be full of oem bloatware.

A:Recovery CD/Disk for Windows Vista Home Premium w/SP1

Hi and welcome to TSF

Try to contact the manufacture first.

If that does not work, maybe http://www.restoredisks.com can help.

My new laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed Home Premium 64bit, and what I know to Recovery (system image with installed drivers), which is placed in a hidden hard drive partition, you fail to restore the system with the drivers (to factory) .
But I do not have the Recovery Manager and I do not know from whence it could get someone knows where?

Hey all After Installing hard Windows refuses to XP Home; recognise Solved: Windows drives completely accidentally doing Solved: Installing Windows XP Home; Windows refuses to recognise hard drives something called quot RAID quot to my hard drives i am in the position of having to re-install Windows Unfortunately the Windows disk keeps telling me that i have no hard drive I have found this tutorial http www howtogeek com howto wind d-disk-drives-during-windows-xp-installation which seems to be based on the assumption that the problem is that Windows XP does not have SATA drivers I don t know if that is the problem but i am going to try it anyway Unofrtunately you need a SATA driver to try it I have been to the manufacturers website http www gigabyte com au products product-page aspx pid amp dl driver and found a list of drivers for my machine One of them says quot SATA RAID quot I don t think i want RAID and looking at the manual that comes with that driver it doesn t look like it is a SATA driver it looks like it is for something else involving RAID that i don t understand Does anyone know how to get a SATA driver nbsp

A:Solved: Installing Windows XP Home; Windows refuses to recognise hard drives

I believe the SATA drivers you need are these ones:

"Intel ICH5R /ICH6R /ICH7R (Preinstall driver, press F6 during Windows* setup to read from floppy)"

Download them and extract them onto a floppy or CD, then during the intial windows setup (when it is loading device drivers) it will come up with an option to install 3rd party SATA / RAID drivers, you press F6 at this point and then browse to the drivers to install them. This should allow the system to utilise the SATA drives to install windows.

I m planning to re-install Windows XP Home Edition tommorrow and I have a few Home XP Re-installing Windows Edition questions I placed the WinXP CD into my computer just to have a poke around It seems I have two options with the re-install I can upgrade or I can completely re-install I m planning to Re-installing Windows XP Home Edition go with the second option all files I need are backed up on CD However is there any trick to re-installing Will there be any conflict having Windows XP already installed as I try to re-install over the top Or do I have to delete everything first I seems as if I can just go straight ahead and install it over the top is this going to work Or do I have to delete it first Please help Microsoft don t give you much documentation on this stuff I think they d rather have us believe there is never a need to re-install Thanks ADDED I just had a look at the Knowledge base over at monopoly com oops I mean microsoft com Anyway I couldn t find any helpful information Just stuff on the re-install upgrade option The main reason I want to reinstall is to fix a program that refuses to run due to a conflict It used to run fine then one day it stopped working Anyway do you think the first option would cure this Or is the full-blown reinstall the best bet Any ideas and commments would be lovely Thanks nbsp
