Q: Hi, I am recovering my aspire 5733-6424 using the ...

Hi, I don't know if this is the right location for this question but I did not see my laptop in the list or understand the choices in the select location colum. I started the recovery and I put in all the disks and I am now at the point where all the disks are out of the laptop and the software and updates are being installed. I got to the screen that says its installing sysprep-factory mode. The progress bar is full and its at 36 of 36 and after where it says installing sysprep-factory mode.... it has these pulsating dots that looks like its still loading info. but its been at this point for about ten hours now,( left it over night) is it frozen or is it posible it takes this long. Thanks for any help.

Preferred Solution: Hi, I am recovering my aspire 5733-6424 using the ...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Did it tell you to take out the last disk before it was completely finished?I would put it back in and see if it helps.

hi everyone.I have an ACER laptop Aspire 5733 with a 3Gb Ram that I m trying to increase to 8Gb. I bought 2 modules of 4gb each (http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/?partid=kvr13s9s8/4).from what I can see on the ACER specs (http://panam.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/2011/Acer/Aspire/Aspire5733/Aspire5733sp2.shtml#sup_5) the max RAM supported is 8Gb.. unfortunately each time I try to insert the 2 new modules, W7 Home premium (64bit) wont load, and keep on getting an error message.. is there something I m missing there?Oli

Had big problems. Got software restore. Can't start from disc. Changed boot order, nothing. f8, f10, f12,got my no where. Won't start in safe mode. I don't have the options that the instructions with the discs say I should have. Here are my options:

1. IDE1: Pioneer DVD-RW DVRTD10RS
2. IDE0: WDC WD5000BPVT=22HX2T1
3. Network Boot: LEGACY PCI Device

1. Goes to eRecovery and just sticks there with a blue spinning wheel
2. Goes to f8 menu with no option for recovery or repair. When trying to start normally it goes to a blue screen with an error message that is gone to fast to read. Restarts
3. Goes to black screen with some unreadable stuff except for the word "failure". Restarts

I let eRecovery go for about 10 hours and it never booted up. Not sure what to do and tech support is a joke. Please help.

So I was looking around the Acer site because I can't seem to find the ACC application on my machine (Aspire 5733-6838) and found that there are no App/BIOS/Driver etc., etc. updates since 2013. Are there seriously none for it. I didn't figuer on "no longer supported" after only 3 years. I just want to make sure everything is as current as it can be. Any suggestions besides SlimDriver?

Hello all this is my first post on these forums, and hope you guys can help.

My cousins laptop had some issues with the os, so I installed windows 7 ultimate 64-Bit, but the issue is when I plug it in it will not charge, the battery LED says it is but the battery icon says it isn't.
Or sometimes it says its plugged in (The icon) for only a while then it says its unplugged, once I re plug it it will back to say its charging and then so on.
It actually says its charging and have done the power button hold, the Microsoft ACAPI thing in the Device Manager and nothing works. I have no clue what this is and if there is something that could help.
Thanks for the help and If you need more details feel free to ask.

Hi guys Just looking for some help regarding my Acer aspire its only around a year old now and haven't had a problem like this with previous laptops desktops The problem started a few days start acer after aspire 5733 system to fails restore. ago acer aspire 5733 fails to start after system restore. when id forgotton to put the charger in while I was still using it and it eventually shut itself down After putting the charger in and switching it back on all seemed normall until around seconds after turning it on when the screen flashed blue with a lot of writing on which I could not work out then it went straight to the screen where you can either start normally or start acer aspire 5733 fails to start after system restore. using start up repair At acer aspire 5733 fails to start after system restore. first I pressed start normally which resulted in the blue flashing screen and a restart which took me back to the start normally or start up repair screen Then I pressed start using startup repair which lasted around hours before displaying a recent hardware change might be the problem which isn't the case as ive not replaced any hardware whatsoever I clicked send info to Microsoft for more info but im not sure if that makes a difference or not Anyway I was then presented with a box which had option for start up repair system restore Acer recovery management etc I couldn't perform a system restore as it said I dont have a restore point which I know I definitely created but for whatever reason was not shown I then performed a memory scan from the same screen which restarted the computer and displayed a blue screen and a grey progress bar it said in yellow writing no problems have yet been found after completion system will restart and show results of the scan next time it starts however after it restarted it did not show any results but went straight to the start normally or with start up repair screen after the blue flashing screen I pressed start with start up repair to get back to the screen that showed all the options and it did that in around a minute again telling me a recent hardware change might be the cause I then tried to do everything again several times to no effect so I decided to go into Acer recovery management where I had two options restore to factory settings or restore and retain user files I chose to restore and retain user files as I would like to keep my personal files I couldn't back them up on disk as there was no option to do that and I dont have original back up disks to restore from anyway the restore completed and restarted the machine with no problem and started to run through the initial setup the first screen displaying setup starting services for a good minutes were the screen then goes completely black and all the fans stop and goes completely quiet all would suggest it was switched off if it wasn't for the power light indicating it was still on after a few minutes the fans start spinning again and the screen stays completely black and then returns to the previous screen it was on before and then prestents me with a dialogue box that says windows could not complete the installation To install windows on this computer restart the installation Which I do and the whole process just repeats itself with the dialogue box and restarting like a cycle and is where im up to at this point I will gladly answer any more questions in more detail as I know this a brief explaination Thanks for taking the time to read this and any answers or help regarding this will be much appreciated thanks again guys

If so, then try Last Know Good Configuration.

Failing that please refer to this tutorial:

I lost the shredder 64 file. I followed the instructions to restore the computer and after it finished it said it would reboot and to wait for the reboot. I did not reboot. There is a message on the screed that says "Setup is starting services" it never goes any farther. I tried the alt F10 and it did not work either. I bought this computer as a reconditioned unit and it worked perfectly until I tried to get the shredder 64 back. I tried putting a rescue disk in the D drive but it doesn't recognize it.

Hi

I've got a Acer 5733 laptop and it's had nothing but problems.

Whilst under warranty, i returned it to acer for a faulty hard drive. They replaced it.

Once the warranty had expired, it happened again so i replaced the hard drive myself and reinstalled windows. It then happened again, so i assumed that it had been a faulty hard drive that i'd used, so i bought another and installed windows. This one has now also failed.

I'm pretty sure it's not worth fixing again but just wondering if anyone could shed any light on what's causing these issues all the time and whether there's a fix for it? It's been driving me mad!

Or should i just sell it for parts and call it quits?

Thanks for your help

Hi. I am in the process of trying to recover files. My whole D drive (the 78,148MB - see jpg attached) says it needs to be reformatted and so all the files are gone. I download a recovery program (thanks to suggested from this forum -tks!) and it shows that the files are on my computer. Now I guess I have to have somewhere to put all the files when I recover them.

I am picturing I just need to purchase a 100MB removable hard drive. Then I will just have to plug it in via USB and then transfer using the recovery program. Kind of just like when I transfer music to my mp3 player. Obviously my level of computer knowledge is NOVICE. Is that all I will need to do?

Thanks.

Hi,

I am facing two different complications with external usb's

Problem 1: Hardware (?)
This usb IS recognized and mounts - however, the files on it are damaged - possibly because of hardware erosion...
I think ddrescue and safecopy are supposed to be good programs for this type of failure, but I do not know how to use them

Problem 2: Software (?)
This usb is recognized in the device manager, but not in the My Computer (so it doesn't mount). I think I can reformat the usb to make it functional again, but before I do that, I want to recover whatever files are on the drives

Any guide on how i can resolve these two issues?

Hi, Assuming you upgraded your dv6 series to Windows 10 from a previous OS and as long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the upgrade, you can just create Windows 10 installation media on another PC and then perform a clean installation as detailed in the guide on the following link.  Note: At the activation screen, select 'I don't have a Product key' - Windows will activate automatically once the installation has completed. http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-windows-10/ Regards, DP-K

A:Recovering Ram

If you like, you can try to disable superfetch. It caches programs you frequently use into ram so it loads faster but this will consume ram.

to disable superfetch go to start - in the search box type "services.msc" --- go down the list until you find superfetch and right click "disable". Then restart and use your computer like you normally would. After a while then check how much ram is being used.

if you find that disabling superfetch is slower, do the steps again but right click start and check start automatically

hope this helped.

HI,

I've got a pretty major problem...

A teacher where i work afked me to do some work on her machine. She said she had a c:\ with XP on (about 10GB) and the computer had a second drive which she wanted to store her media. This drive however had win98 on.

Along witha few other jobs she wanted me to wipe her second HDD so she could use XP and have a blank drive to store everythign she did.

So i came to start working on it. Using the XP CD i chose to delete the partition on D:\, format it, and restart. Only to find that XP was actually on the D drive and the old OS was on C:\ ...

I am now... pretty much boned...

Can anyone give me any advice on whether or not i can recover the operating mystem?

cheers

A:Recovering XP?

Well in all honesty once xp is wiped...its wiped.
Only option is to reinstall..and cry..and hopefully restore what she had on it if you can remember lol

Hello,

I'd very much like to recover both mail and address books from an image. I can mount my old c: drive and search though it just like any other drive, but I have no idea what files, in the Outlook 2007, hold this information. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A:Recovering .pst and .pab's

if your old os was xp, the data file should be in: <drive letter>\Documents and Settings\<user profile>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

if you were using an exchange server as your primary mail server the file extension will be .ost, if not it will be .pst.

the .pab should be in: <drive letter>\Documents and Settings\<user profile>\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

either way you'll likely have to turn on hidden files and folders to see those paths.

I'm running IE 11 and I'm trying to access a remote login through IE. One of my logins has a stored password but all my other logins do not. They all use the same password which I cannot remember. Hence why I'm trying to pull this stored password. I've tried some programs I found on google with no success. They find the credentials window but will not show the login name and password. I think probably because the said programs are old and outdated. I've checked the internet options\content\autocomplete settings\..... but no manage passwords option like some sites suggest. Is it possible to find this stored password on my computer ?

Password Key Forensic will probably be able to do so but it's a very expensive program and not sure if it lets you use it as a trial for a short time but maybe worth checking Password Key Forensic

I'm afraid your gonna be out of luck on this one.

You MAY be able to plead your case with sierra's customer support by providing them with a receipt of sale when you purchased the game. It's gonna be a longshot though.

[QUOTE=lucianfbf;451476]hi. i've purchased 2 days ago one notebook model msi cx600x-076eu and all i've done to it instead of enjoying it i tried to bring it back to factory defaults with the cd/dvd that came with the product after i installed windows 7 and i didnt really like it that much or maybe its not my type. my question is how long should last for one notebook like mine which is pretty ok for our days to go back to factory defaults ?cause it passed 12 hours and nothing happened. only the message "System is now recovering".Drived me nuts. do u think its because of the windows 7 or i have some problem with my laptop? what to do about that? Anyway i stopped the process "system is now recovering" and i went to "windows memory diagnostics tool" where i pressed for the standard check of the memory. Its been 6 hours and right now in this very moment i am on "running test pass 33" with no problems detected yet. Why it doesnt show how many tests there are like 33 from 35 for example, and why it lasts so long? how can i resolve these issues. i just wanna bring it back to its factory settings and start all over again with windows 7 but it lasts too damn long i'm not sure but as a beginer i think 12 hours its too much for one system to recover.. maybe its something wrong cause i wanna enjoy my laptop and u could tell me

I had to format my computer recently, and I was able to retrieve many files with a program called Pandora. However, it only finds select file types i.e. .zip, .doc, .exe, .jpg, etc... and not file types I still want. They are:

.htm, .html - probably used for other programs, but I mainly want firefox files back, such as bookmarks

.rar - similar to .zip

.deh, .bex - 'dehacked' additions to playing classic doom

.pdf - adobe acrobat

.bak, .proc, .cm, .map, .script - map information for doom 3 maps

.txt - notepad

My computer info (though this seems likely to be irrelevant) is:
C521 Dell, Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 3800+
2.00 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
Does anyone know of any programs that can retrieve at least some of the file types I mentioned above? Thanks in advance.

A year ago, I was having ME/XP opr sys problems and reformatted my HD.

Being cute, I formatted into a 29 G section and an 8 G HD and put ME upgraded to XP in the 8 and all 'personal' and controllable programs into the 29G section "C". All photos and video are in the 29G section. The 29G section has 23G free.

The 8G "D" has filled up (careless on loading software, etc) . I have now deleted programs, looked for large files, emptied trash, etc to try to get back to Opr Sys files only (as best I can determine). No matter what I do the free space seems to shrink. Now 7.97 G. total, 472 M free. I have XP and 97? office.

Except for deleted programs (I have the discs), everything seems to work, although slow.

Any ideas ? Thanks, Dave

You got some bad advice. Your old files were likely in the windows.old folder and should have been recoverable from there after the 7 to 10 upgrade, buit after downgrade who knows? Do you still have a windows.old folder on the C:\ drive? Do you even know exactly where the files were previously stored?

Hi all - although I m sure that people have fielded this question before had a quick look via google and got millions of hits the problem I am faced with is a little more specific and probably a little more hopeless as well I m in the final throes of writing my honours thesis and I went back to look at one of my old chapters When I did I realised that something was wrong as corrections I had made a month ago were no longer there After a lot of yelling at my computer made me feel a little better I realised what I must have done I ve been saving in two places to minimise loss if a file crashes but what it looks like I did was open one file and made all the corrections I m now missing and Recovering files old save it in one place then later I ve opened up the file in the other location to make different changes and Recovering old files then saved this file in both places overwriting my other changes Is there Recovering old files any way that I can access the first file from the date just before I over-wrote it I know the date that I must have made the mistake so if there s any way to access my computer s memory as it was at that point in time my work should theoretically still be recoverable if it s possible to do that Really hoping someone can help out with this my email is quot ohgodzines quot through hotmail - if someone has a useful suggestion they can throw my way Thanks all had to realise this a week before the damn thing s due didn t I sigh nbsp

when u do system restore, your hard drive get wiped clean in most cases, unless you done through a regular XP disc.
i you used the restore disk that came with your system. then you data is lost & most had drive recovery requires lots of work & results are not guaranteed.
so i would say you data is lost. hard luck this time. be careful next time please as some things can not be undone.

Recovery image installation has nothing to do with preinstalled OS. When you use recovery media whole HDD will be formatted, everything will be deleted and recovery image will be installed.

After recovery image installation your notebook will have factory settings again.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1905. The problem started with some viruses on the laptop I downloaded and installed AVG and ran it. During the scan the computer shutdown and will get to the Windows Screen and restart.

My cdrom drive does not have the little black piece in the center to keep the cd in place so I cant put the 3 recovery cds in the drive and recover the computer.

I found a tutorial online for installing windows xp on a laptop drive using a desktop computer, but that wont help because I only have the recovery cds. Im not sure if my external cdrom will work, but I am pretty sure it wont. What do I do?

Right now on my computer I have two SATA hard drives. One had an installation of XP on it but it got screwed over(long story involved lightning). So I installed XP on the other drive then hooked the second drive which contained all my old files. Now this worked good and fine, and I can access all the files on this drive except the folder for my user(Cocuments and Settings\Me). When I try to open this fold it says "Not Accessible, Access Denied". Also when I right click on it it shows the folder being 0 mb in size. Now I am assuming this is from Windows XP encrypting those files so I could only access them when I was logged on that user. So does anyone know if it is possible to get these files back or am I SOL. Thanks a alot.

This is the key that will ask if you wish to restore

If the f11 key does not work go to the website of the

Does the system restore really wip eeverything out that fast and is there any way to get that information back? I have a final project on there that is due in 4 days. Any help appreciated.

A:Recovering HD contents

Most of the contents of the drive are still there. The first thing to try is partition recovery. If a proper partition table can be written to the drive, you can then access the files that remain normally. Testdisk or Testdisk Boot Floppy Image is the best tool for that. It will not damage your files no matter what options you choose and it often requires some intelligent guessing. If it finds a partition that is close to the size it should be, write the changes to disk and then reboot. See if the drive is accessible. If not, try again. If you get nowhere with it (and that would be very unusual), then try scanning the drive with recovery software.

You need to clean out the virus/worm/trojan infestation. Just moving files and folders to another drive isn't going to protect you. Malware hides in all sorts of places.

You should post a HijackThis log in the Security Forum and get help to get your system cleaned out.

Howdy I have had a SATA HDD Recovering Data for about years and never backed up silly I know With numerous problems in the past month being solved I know have a very slow computer that takes literally half an hour to boot - and this is with a clean install Someone has suggests that I need to delete the MBR and start all over again Fair enough but I have Recovering Data some files that I need to keep I have tried to back them up to a networked computer even copying and posting them But to no avail I think that there are too many bad sectors so this just keeps on throwing up errors and causing the action to terminate So I need to recover the data that is on an GB HDD that is partitioned into two Gig drives It is the second partition that I need recovered - I dont care about the first I have tried Hard Drive Mechanic but this is only for IDEs I have one GB IDE drive thats ancient - cant remember the last time I used with windows installed on it to try and recover data Any help will be most appreciated David nbsp

A:Recovering Data

I purchased Norton's Ghost 10.0 to take images of my hard drive and to back up my files.

Using it as a recovery disk, you boot from it. It has a little know utility which allows it to analyse the drive and list the programs, files etc.

You can then select the drive you want to save them to.

It saved my butt, when I partitioned my C drive when I reinstalled Windows and my second "data" drive did not show up as a drive.

I had taken an image of my C drive but not my "data" drive.

The recovery disk of Norton's Ghost was able to recover all my files.

Hi there!

My aunt's laptop got infected with a virus (Australian Federal Police/Ukash) and I think I have removed it. I did a couple of Malware Bytes full scans and everything came up clear.

Problem is, the virus seems to have corrupted the file associated with Windows Security Centre because it can't be turned on. All I want is to be able to enable Windows Security inc. the Firewall so I can give her computer back with the all-clear!

I've tried looking for "Security Centre" in the Services, but it's not listed.

I'd appreciate the help!

Btw, she's operating on Windows 7.

Thanks in advance!

Hello matteey,

I'm kevinf80 and I will be helping with any malware issues you may have with your system.

Please be aware that some of the logs I may ask for can be very complex and can take a long time to decipher. I am a volunteer here with a job and family so I ask that you be patient when waiting for replies.
Please DO NOT run any scans/tools/fixes on your own as this will conflict with the tools we are going to use.
Either print or Save to Notepad all instructions and please follow them carefully, if there's something you don't understand or that will not work please let me know and we will go through it together.
Malware is often buggy and can be very unstable, with that in mind it is advisable to backup any important data before we begin.
If you do not reply within 72 hours the thread will be closed, if you need more time let me know. Likewise if I do not respond within 48 hours feel free to PM me.
If you have any P2P applications installed such as BitTorrent, uTorrent, Limewire etc etc, please uninstall them before we begin.
If you are using Cracked or Illegal software your thread will be locked and all help will cease.

It would appear that your version of Windows may not be genuine, Please run the following scans and post the two logs in your reply:

Step 1

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post back the report it creates:

Download MGADiag to your desktop.
Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
Click "Continue"
Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

Step 2

Download CKScanner from here

Important : Save it to your desktop.

Doubleclick CKScanner.exe and click Search For Files.
After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
A message box will verify that the file is saved.
Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.

Is it possible to recover data from a hard drive that was killed by power surge caused by lightening? Thankfully this didn't happen to me but a co-worker but I have Easy Rovery software from a couple years ago when i had a drive go bad and i was wondering if it would be useful on his computer. My guess would be no because his drive won't spin up and i think (?) the drive has to be at least physically working in order to read anything off it. How do the pros recover data from a lightening-fried h/d?

A:Recovering Data

you can create a bootable USB via some data recovery software, booting from which you may be able to recover the data on the lost partition. Use Runtime Live CD or Easeus data recovery Win PE edition. but data recovery is always not 100% guaranteed.

Hello,
My Laptop is once again in the Repair Mode Loop from Hell.

I'm trying to recover some important files I hadn't backed up yet with this ISO suggested on another thread.
Use Ubuntu Live CD to Backup Files from Your Dead Windows Computer
I put it on a USB flash drive but I can't get the broken laptop to read it.

When I start the PC I click ESC which gives me the option to open with the USB stick but it then goes directly to the page that says do I want to open windows with repair? (recommended)
Or normally?
When I click either I'm taken back to the loop from hell.

My laptop is so old that I'm given "floppy disc" as an option in BIOS

A:Recovering Files

You need to change the boot order in the bios first so it boots with the USB
If your computer does not have the option to boot from a USB you will need to put
Linux or Ubuntu onto a dvd or cd and boot into that
I use Linux Mint on a USB when I'm working on other peoples computers but have needed to have it also on a cd for older computers.

A:recovering videos

You need the proper codec in order to view. If you could find the
software that came with the camera it would help. If you had the
software even better. If you can see a file extention such as .mpeg etc
you may be able to download and install coles codecs, or k-lite codec
pack.....good luck

A:Recovering from a Trojan

You may need to transfer these files to the machine via USB pen drive. Another idea would be to navigate to the Firefox folder,

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

and rename firefox.exe to firefox.com

You should then be able to use Firefox

Ensure you have file extensions viewable.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Also make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types

=====================

Download OTL to your desktop. Rename it to OTL.com

Double click the icon to start the tool.Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted.
When the scan is complete, two text files will be created, OTL.Txt <- this one will be opened in Notepad and Extras.txt, on Desktop.
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of OTL.Txt and the Extras.txt in your next reply.

========================

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop. It will be a randomly named executable. Rename it to a .com extension. Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.
Double click the .com file.
The program will begin to run, and perform an initial scan. If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No.
In any case, after the initial scan is complete, click on the Save button, and save the log file somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in reply

Thank you for having such a great resource!

I'm not too sure this is in the correct forum, if not I apologize. I have a windows XP machine that has data recovery software installed on it. I have a external drive (HFS+) that can no longer mount on a Mac. My data recovery software can see all the data, the problem arises when I attempt to save that data to a new exernal. Since XP sees the new external as NTFS, I cant copy the HFS+ files to it. Is there a work around to this?

Thank in advance

I recently copy and pasted my laptop's hard drive local disk data on my external hard drive. I then deleted all the data on my hard drive. How can I put all the copy and paste data back? Or is it impossible and I need to reinstall everything? I also copied the "Users" folder, can I at least restore everything on my background? Also, when I right click my windows background, the graphic card options aren't there anymore. I deleted the data and used a Window 7 Installation Disk to recover. I dont seem to have any security either. Do I need to buy all of them again?
I'm not sure what its called, so the thing I'm calling background has the options Screen Resolutions, Gadgets, and Personalize when you right click on it.

A:Help with recovering data

Hi,
All of the data, not programs, that are on your hard drive can be copied back to your internal drive.
Programs will have to be reinstalled one by one
You should not have to repurchase any of the programs you currently own, developers understand crashes
