Preferred Solution: Can I upgrade my Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Laptop?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Dear, I have Acer Aspire V 15 nitro laptop. its under warranty. I am facing problem with color dullnes. I bought this laptop so that I will get proper color while designing on photoshop or related software. The problem is that when I attach charger in my laptop then  it showed me proper bright colors without any dullness. The minute I unplugged my charger, color becomes dull and bad. I have visited acer care centre many times but sadly they are not able diagnose the problem. I have also restore windows 10 to windows 8 acc. to acer service centre direction but it didn't help. I am looking for permanent solution so that the heavy amount which I spent on this laptop will not be wasted. Looking for reply with solution. Thanks, Shivin

I have Acer Aspire VN7-791G-71P5 with Intel Core i7-4710HQ and Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M. Running Asus ROG RealBench stress test, CPU reached maximum temperature (95 °C) and was thermal-throttled to 2.6 GHz (almost no turbo). After I replaced thermal compound with Arctic Silver 5, CPU reached 80-85 °C and was not thermal-throttled (full turbo). The pre-applied GPU thermal compound is actually comparable to the Arctic Silver 5; GPU temperatures did not measurably change after re-application.

I thought the battery had died so i just plugged it in. But now the light is blue and my screen says battery is 100%, but if i remove the AC adapter, poof, laptop dies.Do i basically have no choice but to have the battery replaced or is there something i can do?

Hi all: I have a problem with my laptop (model VN7-571G). After a recent Windows 10 update, now I am not able to connect the laptop to my flat  LG TV via HDMI. I think it has to be related to Intel Graphics 5500 (current driver 20.19.15.4483). When I connect the laptop to my flat TV, laptop screen goes black but TV message says "Without Conection". The HD Intel Graphic Control Panel only detects laptop screen. When I connect TV to HDMI port recognizes it for half a second, and then TV is not detected again. I cannot install Intel Drivers as I have to go to Acer webpage to get driver, which is the last version I already have. Computer was working ok till last update.Do I have to wait to get new driver from Acer when it is ready, or do I format computer and start from zero?. Thanks for your help.

A:Acer Aspire V Nitro HDMI issues

Hi, Of course you can install the latest intel driver from the intel webpage but just with a little bit of tricks. However, I cannot tell you that the latest driver from intel will solve the issue you are experiencing. Download the .zip file from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26228/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8... Then follow the instructions of jose423, which is marked as a solution from this post: http://community.acer.com/t5/V-and-VN-Series-Laptops/VN7-591G-latest-driver-2016/m-p/434317#M10190 This will install the intel driver even if you have a "custom manufacturer driver".

Just got it, it came pre-installed with Linpus Linux Lite so I installed Windows 8.1 on it. I used the CD that came with the PC to install the drivers. Everything worked well, but sadly, the WiFi driver just does not work. It does connect to my router, but once I try to load something, it instantly goes to limited connectivity, disallowing me to do anything. I am able to access the router panel, but the router isn't the problem here - everything works well on my Android phone. Any help?

Greetings So after 15 months of usage, my laptop fan has started to not comply with me anymore and is randomly going up too high speeds and making strained noises. It is the right fan closest to the power chord. My warranty has exceeded and thereby im turning myself to Acer's forums to see if there is someone able to help me with the troubleshooting and hopefully solving my problem. Best wishes-Antsos

A:Install Windows 8.1 Pro on Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7...

Changing the Operating System may cause driver conflicts. The compatible drivers for Windows 8.1 will not be available in the website for this laptop. Hence, some of the features on the laptop might not work after changing the OS.  1: Since you have already created the USB recovery media from the laptop, you do not have to copy anything else other than this.  Make sure you you backup all files before installing the OS, as it will remove all data from the laptop. I see that, you have the unused Pro retail key for the OS, hence, you do not have to have the OEM product key. You need to use the product key for Windows 8.1 Pro to activate it, not the Acer OEM product key.  In the BIOS, select BOOT tab.  Select BOOT MODE as Legacy Mode instead of UEFI.Disable Secure Boot. Under Boot Priority Order, you need to select 1 as CD/DVD (if you are using disc), or USB FDD or USB HDD (if you are using USB drive) to install Windows 8.1 Pro.  Then press the F10 key and select "Yes" to save the changes in BIOS.  ->You an install Windows 8.1 Pro using my ISO and installing the drivers from the Acer support website. As said before, there may driver conflicts.  -> If you want to switch back to Windows 8.1, you may use the USB reovery drive (which created you have created from the recovery partition). When you do this, the Windows 8.1 Pro and it's product key will be removed from the laptop and the factory shipped OS, drivers, apps (and the OEM product key) will be installed automatically. You do not have to use the Windows 8.1 Pro key with Acer OEM USB reovery media.  -> You need to do a clean install using the USB recovery drive to install factory shipped Windows on the laptop.

Sorry, but it looks like only a limited quantity of these were shipped to the Microsoft store. That is the only retailer I know that carries this specific model. If they do not have any stock of this model, I do not know of another location where you could purchase it from. You may try looking at other versions of the VN7-572TG.

I know this has been asked before but the answers given have not worked.1.  Edit the registery.2.  Disable fast startup.I have an Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black (VN7-791G) with Windows 8.1.  I want Num Lock on always.  When I boot the machine in the morning it is off.  When I wake the machine after a period of inactivity it is off.  I have edited the registry under the keyboard settings per other replys in these forums with no change.  I have disabled fast startup per replys in these forums again with no change.  I contacted Microsux because I think it is a windows issue but they said to contact Acer.  Acer chat is of no use they want you to pay them to modify the registry.  So here I and I believe others are stuck with a machine that does its own thing.

Have you tried to connect your laptop to another monitor or TV?just to be 100% sure it's a laptop issue. i'm not 100% sure but if i remember correctly display port is managed by nvidia card, HDMI is managed by Intel until your run a compatible 3D software (games or programs) that switch to nvidia card.

Hello,        When I first got my laptop, the internet connection worked very well. Now, if I can manage to undisable the network card, clicking on the Internet symbol on the Taskbar gives me nothing, and when I restart it and am able to open up the panel for a few seconds, it shows that I am connected with a limited connection to my internet, and when I hover over it's symbol in the taskbar it says, "Unidentified network, No Internet access." Restarting my computer doesn't work, and it's gotten pretty annoying, because Steam is in that limbo that it forgot my credentials, so I'm locked out of all my games, so I kind of want my internet connection back as soon as possible. I have the VN7-571G-50VG if that helps anything. Thanks in advance,Fed042

Hi all: I have a problem with my laptop (model VN7-571G). After a recent Windows 10 update, now I am not able to connect the laptop to my flat  LG TV via HDMI. I think it has to be related to Intel Graphics 5500 (current driver 10.18.15.4248). When I connect the laptop to my flat TV, laptop screen goes black (as it happened before), but TV message says "Without Conection". If I try to use Intel Driver Update Utility 2.6.1.4, it says I have to go to Acer website to get the drivers. I have already uninstalled all Intel drivers (VGA, chipset, etc.), and installed the ones in Acer website but the problem still exists. Any idea how to solve it?. Thanks and regards from Spain.Ignacio

My Acer Aspire is about 18 months old and I am encountering a problem for a few days now that had never happened before. Usually what happens is I'm playing a game and if I want to make a change in the screen resolution or if I do ctrl+alt+suppr the screen turns black and nothing works. The mouse pointer doesn't appear, the keyboard doesn't answer and my only solution is to force it off by pressing the power button for a few seconds and to turn it back on.I thought it was due to hard drive used at 100% but it seems not, and I really have no idea what it could be. The thing is I've noticed several problems of screen freezing and laptop being slower than usual right after I had installed Windows 10 (about 3 weeks ago). Could this be related?I really need help, please this laptop was already 1000$ I'm not buying a new one so soon.

Hi, I bought my Aspire V 15 Nitro Black Edition 6 month ago. Today my touchpad stopped working. The cursor disappeared, and no click or touch gestures on the touchpad would work. I tried reboot, still not working. Then I tried re-installing the drivers from the Acer Support website (TouchPad_Synaptics_18.1.22.2_W81x64) and rebooted.Still not working and now the touchpad is gone from the Windows device manager. At least USB mouse is working, but I'm working a lot with the touchpad so I really don't want to live without it. Any ideas how this can be fixed? Thanks a lot!

The touchpad drivers install but do nothing, I seen a post saying install IO drivers but those don't install. Selecting my laptop model and then Windows 10 64bit and downloading the IO drivers, they say "system not supported". None of these drivers seem to work, how do I get these working?  The laptop came with 8.1 installed and I upgraded that; however, the hard drive failed "end to end error" so I replaced it with another laptop drive. When I upgraded to 10 from 8.1 the touchpad did work. I know the touchpad isn't broken or disabled because it works fine on my linux install.

Have you tried to press Fn+F7 key? on device manager, click on View tab, select Show hidden devices and check again about touchpad. i would also check about ribbons connections on your latop, since you or someone changed the HDD and maybe forgot or wrongly connected something.

My Uncle bought an Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition VN7-591G-792U. He sent it to me in the Philippines. It is brand new, I got it from March. Windows 10 was installed and was updating like normal. I used it for about only 2 months before like a few days ago where it turned off by itself and now it won't turn on. I started up the laptop, everything was normal and I opened up Google Chrome. I was browsing Facebook and it turned off by itself, there's no lights on the side even if it was plugged in. I tried disconnecting and connecting the battery, holding the power button, holding the battery reset button, holding them both, and it does nothing. Anyone has a solution for this? Sometime this month, we will be going to the US amd my uncle will probably have to replace or fix it since he still has warranty. Thanks!

I must admit that I have little hope for the quick and perfect solution but I will give it a try nbsp I just bought an Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition VN - G with Windows and an external monitor for it a Samsung LS D and connected Nitro HDMI VN7 Aspire Samsung via Acer LS32D850... to both with the Acer Aspire Nitro VN7 via HDMI to Samsung LS32D850... HDMI cable that came with the monitor nbsp It worked extremely well However when the laptop switches off the monitor for any reason like a reboot or an energy saving setting then the monitor stays black nbsp I have tried many things but the only ones that work seem to be these nbsp Unplugging and re-plugging the HDMI cable This works every time Switching off the monitor for a long time at least several minutes then switching it on again Even disconnecting the monitor's power cord for a minute is not enough to make the laptop send an HDMI signal to the monitor nbsp All other attempts to wake up the monitor yield only spotty or no results like switching the monitor configuration in Windows Windows key P or the equivalent Fn F I can always activate the laptop's built-in display that way but not the external monitor I also tried changing the monitor input from HDMI to Auto and back and various other actions to no avail nbsp I checked the Windows Intel video driver which turned out to be up to date nbsp I changed to another HDMI cable same problem nbsp I have not yet tried to switch to the NVidia graphics adapter because I'm not sure how to do that If I could wake up the monitor that way I could then switch back to the integrated Intel graphics which I almost always use and that might be a viable workaround while waiting for the defect to be repaired perhaps in the video driver nbsp I have upgraded Windows from Home to Professional which made no difference to this problem nbsp Any ideas are welcome I am pondering the thought of returning the monitor but a I like it and b it is quite possible that the defect is in the laptop and the next monitor would have nbsp the same problem At first sight it is the laptop that causes the problem because it is obviously not sending HDMI output to the monitor nbsp I am also pondering the thought of adding an HDMI switch to allow me to wake up the monitor by switching the HDMI line For that I would have to identify and buy a pure HDMI pass-through switch which I find nbsp difficult so far It would be a stupid solution though nbsp I read that this is a widespread and long-lived problem Intel has an ongoing discussion thread about it that has been running for several years but no solution nbsp Any ideas are welcome nbsp A related question I would like to try the DisplayPort output hoping that it works better than HDMI but that would occupy the USB-C socket which I plan to use for other purposes Is it possible to use that connector for multiple purposes at the same time Is there a special external hub for that

I have a VN7-592G and I find this weird to see you have problems running something like CS:GO. I would consider overwatch to be more demanding than CS:GO.How old is your laptop? Did you try closing background applications and reducing graphic settings? Did it solve the problem? The temperature will get high while gaming which is why its recommended the vents are not blocked. As you have taken care of the vents cleaning, let me know what changing the settings does to the performance.

Hi,   I really hope someone here can help me out. I just bought a brand new Acer, with an Nvidia 960M graphics card with 4gig dedicated.  However I cannot seem to get it to work. It's there if I check my device manager. Hardware system check software does detect the video card, however the Nvidia Geforce Experience Software does not detect it.  I cannot choose the Nvidia card as the main video card for the games I want to play, or change any settings in the Nvidia control panel. I tried playing The Witcher 3, if it runs at all the video and audio are out sync, and it crashes the computer. I already tried the latest drivers etc. Nothing seems to work... Please help!

Rictus,

I'm uncertain of why it would just start happening randomly. I'm not sure if you have tried a system restore to before the problem started happening to see if there might be some sort of software corruption interrupting the cooling process. I know that you said you took the system to a authorized service center, I assume that means you contacted Acer and sent the system to them for testing?

Hello! So I bought this Aspire V Nitro back in January at Best Buy, I looked at the specs and it looked pretty good. However though ever since I bought it I keep getting this same crash. I'm playing a game on medium or high graphics and the laptop will cut to black and won't turn back on for roughly ten to fifthteen minutes. When I feel the bottom of the Laptop it's extremely hot. I don't know why it continues to do this, I've made sure coolboost is running. If anyone has had this problem please let me know how to fix it.  Here are the specs Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60Hz  2.60 GHZInstalled memory (RAM): 16.0 GBNVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M

Today I observed a few scratches on the lid like this on my month old laptop. Has anyone else experienced this on their Nitro laptop's? A quick search on the internet showed that this is expected from the textured lid. But now that the damage is done what can I do to prevent further scratches or fix these ones? This is my life's first laptop after saving a lot through university, this has been painful.

I cannot get the VGA driver for the nVidia 960M to install on my Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition VN7-792G-71ZL.  I am using the driver found on the Acer site.  I am hoping there is a straightforward solution from Acer for this problem.  I did, however, have no problems installing bios updates, firmware and the VGA driver for Intel graphics.

I recently acquired an Acer Aspire #7551-3029 laptop. I don't know that much about laptops these days and I justed wanted to know if:

(1) is this a decent laptop or not?
(2) it is possible to upgrade anything on this laptop [besides the hard drive]?
(3) if so, what would you recommend?
(4) i am looking for a really fast system that I can use for gaming and net surfing

Here are my laptop Specifications:

AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor P340 - (1MB L2 cache, 2.20GHz)
Acer CineCrystal HD+ 17.3" 1600 x 900 pixel resolution
4GB DDR3 SDRAM
640GB 5400Rpm Hard drive
Iintegrated Super-Multi drive
5-in-1 card reader
ATI Radeon HD 4250 Graphics
802.11b/g/N WLAN - Gigabit LAN
Built In Acer Webcam
Windows 7 Home Premium

* I already have a 2TB external hard drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Do you have $3,000 plus to spend on a laptop? I had a $3,500 Sony Vaio notebook with 8GB of system memory. It's Windows gaming experience number was 5.9

What is your Windows 7 Experience number dealing with graphics? My desktop graphics number is 6.9. That Acer might be 3 if you're lucky. Most likely its around 1.5. It is a decent laptop for anything besides gaming

My card reader worked fine before upgrading from 8.1 to 10.  Now the reader does not recognize a card and there is no card reader listed in device manager, including the hidden devices.   The November upgrade eliminated the possibility of going back to 8.1, which I'd rather not do anyway.  Any suggestions?

A:Aspire V 15 Nitro no card reader after upgrade

jtyrie,

If the card reader is not being recognized it is a software issue, the hardware is still there and "working fine". I can really only suggest that you try to load the drivers from our support site if they are there for it, or go back to Windows 8 and try upgrading again.

My system is roughly months old I had used the upgrade software that Acer provided to upgrade from Vista to home premium There was no issues with the install and everything worked great for a month and then it started going in to Acer M3203 Windows software Acer's upgrade and Aspire 7 deep hibernation The only way to wake it was to unplug Acer Aspire M3203 and Acer's Windows 7 upgrade software the power from the tower I did everything I could think of from editing the registry to updating drivers to finally reinstalling everything No go so I packed it up and sent it back to Acer I just got it back from Acer's repair depot They had to replace the motherboard hard drive and fans on the system They performed a factory restore and told me that I was good to go and updating shouldn't be an issue I went to use the upgrade dvd's from Acer and low and behold the hibernation thing started again It took me four attempts to restore it back to factory Now it seems stable running Vista I am in the process up updating the drivers and windows stuff so time will tell Is it me or is Acer systems flakey Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can go about updating to Windows without having to format every week I have tried doing clean installs without going the upgrade path and it still behaves badly Sometimes it won't even turn on Or is it just possible that the pc I purchased just can't handle Windows

A:Acer Aspire M3203 and Acer's Windows 7 upgrade software

Are you booting the Acer Win7 Upgrade Media DVD to do a clean install? You can do that to get the cleanest possible install, without the corruption that is imported from Vista in an in-place Upgrade.

The installer is driver-complete, but afterwards any missing drivers which don't quickly arrive in Optional Windows Updates can be found on the apps/drivers CD along with favorite apps like Works, cam, etc. Others can be found on the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model computer, Adobe (flash, Reader) and Java (runtime, free Ofc suite) sites.

Hey all,

I was wondering if at all it was possible to upgrade my Acer Aspire 5810T laptop.

Help and advice appreciated

A:Possible to upgrade Acer Aspire CPU?

The best way to increase performance in this laptop is to increase system memory to the max allowed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Windows, 4GB total memory is allowed. For a 64-bit Windows, 8GB is max allowed. There are a total of 2 memory slots for two 2GB DDR3 1066 modules or two 4GB DDR3 1066 modules. Upgrading CPU's if possible, won't do much for increased performance

How can I upgrade RAM in Acer Aspire Z1-611?

A:upgrade RAM in Acer Aspire Z1-611

There isn't much information about how to do this... But, essentially this machine has a single memory slot that comes from the factory with 4GB, which you can remove and replace with an 8GB module. Suppliers like Crucial and Kingston offer the correct specification. However, the hard part is opening up the unit and replacing the memory. It's not straightforward, which explains why Acer don't provide instructions. It's probably best done by an experienced computer technician- but for those wanting to do the upgrade themselves here are the steps: 1. With the unit turned off and disconnected find a table to work at. Turn the unit over, face down, and place it on something soft that won't scratch the screen or generate static. A wool blanket or something like that should do.2. Prise off the small square white plastic cover above the stand. You should be able to do this with your fingers - don't use a screwdriver because you'll scratch the plastic surface.3. With the cover off, you'll see the HDD. The are two Philips screws that hold the HDD and its caddy into the back of the unit. Unscrew the two screws and keep them safe.4. Slide the HDD across, you will feel it come away from the SATA interface. You will then be able to lift the HDD out. Handle it with care, put it with the screws somewhere safe.5. Now to prise the back off... You don't need any tools for this. Looking round the gap between the front and back mouldings, gently pull each mould away from each other. Slowly work round all the edges, the back will come away from the front and you will be able to lift the back away from the front.6. When you lift the back off, you'll see it comes away with the DVD drive. There is a data cable and power cable from the DVD to the processing unit. Gently pull the cables off the motherboard which is visible through gaps in the shielding. Lift the back plastic clear and put it somewhere safe.7. There are 4 screws holding the processing unit (motherboard in its shielding) against the front moulding. Unscrew these screws and keep them safe. You will now be able to lift the unit clear of the plastic front - however it will still be connected to the micro speakers, camera, ground wires and power on/off cables. Only disconnect what is absolutely essential and then turn the unit over to reveal the underside of the motherboard.8. There are 5 screws that hold the motherboard into metal shield. Undo these and keep them safe with the other screws. Then, work the motherboard out of the shield (USB and other connectors protrude through it) and you will then be able to remove the memory! Only do this if you are an experienced PC engineer. These instructions are given on the basis that I take no responsibility for the end result or for any inaccuracies. This is fiddly and complex work and it will be easy to damage wires and plugs if you are not experienced.

I have an Acer Aspire XC-705, Intel Core i5-4460 and I want to upgrade from the single 1TB HDD to a system with two RAID 1 drives and an SSD. Are there enough bays/slots to achieve this?

A:Can I upgrade my Acer Aspire XC-705?

your model has:2 SATA 3.0 port1 SATA 2.0 port so this is the first issue you will encounter, not enough ports if you keep the DVD drive connected. the biggest issue is the lacking of RAID (hardware) support from the BIOS (at least i can't find any reference to this option on the BIOS). so, not worth in my opinion, since you must rely on a software RAID 1 enviroment.

Hi, Of course it will not work... Did you check the last line from your screenshot? 1.35V vs 1.5V? You have DDR3L memory so you will need memory which works at 1.35V not at 1.5V as you bought.

I have had an Acer Apire T180 for a long time, and it is rarely used any more. I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade its CPU, and add in a graphics card so that it would be suitable for high end gaming? I'm not sure whether this task would be too difficult, or if it would require a change in motherboards? It has an AMD Sempron 3000+, and I would assume it has integrated graphics? Help would be much appreciated? Thanks in advance

Hello, I want to upgrade my ram and I would like to know which model should I buy so it will be compatible.I have an Acer Aspire 5741g with 2 DDR3 2gb Ram slots, probably Kingston (at least that's the name they have on them), but after running a program called CPU-Z, I've found out that the manufacturer is Elpida.I bought a 4gb GOODRAM but apparently it is not compatible. So if I were to  buy a 4gb Kingston DDR3 RAM and combine it with one of the aforementioned default ones would it be compatible?

I have an Acer Aspire R7-571. On the specs sheet it says that the RAM memory can be extented up to 12 GB of RAM. Can I still put 16 Meg RAM? Would it help to have more or would it be a problem? Right now I Have 2 x 4 GB. Thanks

A:Acer Aspire R7-571 RAM memory upgrade

First, you shouldn't need more than 8GB total unless you're doing something REMARKABLY memory-intensive. My high-end desktop has 8GB, and it would be cheap and easy for me to change that to 16GB, but it's simply not worth it. 8GB is fine for 98% of people, whether your uses include office work, Internet browsing, or even high-end gaming. If you DO really need more than 8GB, I think you'll be limited to 12GB. On the R7, 4GB tends to be soldered onto the motherboard. You can replace your other 4GB SODIMM with an 8GB SODIMM for 12GB total. You can always get a torx screwdriver and open it up for a look. But you should be fine with 8. If you're looking for a performance boost, according to that spec sheet you've linked, the R7-571 in your country didn't include any SSD. You should have an empty MSATA port that you can use with an MSATA SSD. Moving your Windows from the 1TB HDD to a MSATA SSD will make it far more responsive.

Hi. I'm trying to upgrade the RAM of my Acer Aspire 5024wlmi from 1 to 2gb. I have bought a couple of KomputerBay 1gb RAM  compatible models with the Acer RAM specifications (DDR SODIMM (200 pin) 333Mhz PC2700 DDR333 CL2.5).After the replacement of the two 512mb RAM, the computer starts up, you can hear just two "beeps" but the screen remains totally black, nothing else.Besides replacing the RAM, I must make something else that I don't know? Thanks for the help

A:acer aspire t160 upgrade PSU ?

1) YES
2) YES!
3) YES, but first I'd need to know if the Acer uses an ATX PSU, or some crap proprietary unit. Hmm. Start by measuring the power supply you currently have. (WHL)
