I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You can enable virtualization in the BIOS Configuration.Restart your computer and press "esc" or "f12" (not sure which one) to access to the BIOS.  Then on advanced options you may find the Virtualization preferences.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C 660 laptop. I downloaded a tool called securable that shows that virtualization is supported but locked off by bios. But I can not find any Virtualization option in bios. Can you tell me how can I enable virtualization. My bios version is 2.00

A:How to enable virtualization?

Enable virtualization on Toshiba Satellite - Have you tried these tools?:Tool: Microsoft Hardware-Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool - Test for Windows 7 XP Mode Compatibility : VMblog.com - Virtualization Technology News and Information for Everyone GRC*|*SecurAble: Determine Processor Security Features*|** The stuff that I read showed that the Intel processors supported virtualization - and that the newer AMD processors support it also. But virtualization support depends on your specific model.NOTE: Your CPU may support virtualization, but the option has to be built into the "specific model BIOS".Other than that, I'd have to suggest installing VMWare in order to see if it works.

Well I did search to 'Upgrading' enable CPU virtualization the forum 'Upgrading' CPU to enable virtualization for some other posts on this but some say also replacing the mobo's necessary 'Upgrading' CPU to enable virtualization other posts don't say that I've got a yr old Pavilion with Intel Core Duo CPU P GHz Core Logical Processor s Intel's website doesn't quite list this anywhere on their website instead it lists one as Intel Core Duo Processor P M Cache GHz MHz FSB which of course is NOT capable of virtualization which's a prime reason I installed W As for quot processors quot I thought I did my homework because I thought 'the processor' was the CPU and I'm guessing most laptops and desktops have only one CPU no or am I off on a tangent 'Neverthemore' does anyone know if it's feasible to simply upgrade the 'processor s ' to one that's capable of virtualization FYIO - The machine was running Vista until clean installing W Pro's System Builders Pack again -bit Lastly since the HP laptop's latest current BIOS is their F and doesn't list a 'configuration' setting for quot enable virtualization quot apparently another BIOS would be in order once the 'processor s ' is upgraded so dose any know if the BIOS must be an HP one and or how one gets a BIOS that affords the quot enable virtualization' setting

are you truly stuck on xp mode or can you roll with virtualbox? might be a worthwhile replacement for xp mode and you won't have to fork out any money for a new processor (and motherboard).

Hi: Please see this related thread.  Next to the last post. Since I don't use any security on my notebook, I just uninstalled all of the protect tools components and then the protect tools suite. I had no problems enabling VT on my 6930p. If you want to retain all of the security software, then I guess you can follow the steps in the link on the next to the last post. While your notebook is not specifically listed, neither was the 8560p. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/How-can-I-enable-VT-x-in-EliteBook-8560p/td-p/1246565... Paul

Hi, Rapidly tapping the ESC key after power on should get you to Startup Menu and from there you can select Computer Setup (bios). If you can't get to the Startup memu using the ESC key then you will need to take a longer route to get into the UEFI settings.  Review this procedure. The below image is reflective for the Leeds motherboard in your PC. There is not a lot of differences between the below image and that which Paul had posted.  You will need to change the Disable to Enable and then save the settings. The other changes will require Windows 8 Pro or higher and also to enable the function under Turn Windows Features On or Off.

Hello, If you wish to install a Virtualization platform, generally your processor should support Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x). EliteBook 2560p includes one of these processors: Intel® Core? i7-2640M (2.80 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache) Intel® Core? i7-2620M (2.70 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache) Intel® Core? i5-2540M (2.60 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache) Intel® Core? i5-2520M (2.50 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache) Intel® Core? i5-2450M (2.50 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache) Intel® Core? i5-2410M (2.30 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache) All the processors support Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x) and except last two, others support Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) (device virtuallization which you do not need to worry about right now). 1. Reboot the notebook. 2. Instantly press F10 to enter bios. 3. Check the settings and look for Intel Virtualization Technology (Aliases: Intel VT-x). 4. Turn is on and save and exit. You could use F10 to save and exit. If you have a doubt, you can install CPU-Z to check the availability. Source: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html Look for Intel VT-x Thank you!

I have Gateway NE722 notebook (AMD APU A4-5000 based). BIOS version 1.07. OS Windows 10 64-bit Home OEM.Windows says that virtualization is disabled, Hyper-V support is enabled. I won't use Hyper-V but VirtualBox which don't allow to create 64-bit guests only 32-bits. So I assume that virtualization support is disabled in BIOS or Windows 10 Home block virtualization by enabling Hyper-V support and don't allow to use them in Home edition.I didn't saw the virtualization-related items in BIOS so the question is to use another Windows edition (i.e. Pro) or ask manufacturer to release BIOS patch that show option and allow to enable the virtualization support.Anybody knows about BIOS virtualization settings in Gateway NE722?

Hi all,

I have an acer travelmate 8372 notebook, I have installed virtual box on the system but each time I try and build a VM I get errors indicating that VT-x is not enabled on my computer. When I boot into the bios to enable it I don't find any where and I also cannot find the advanced setting option which this setting should be found.

I have tried to research this problem and it seems as if acer has disabled the advanced option on the bios by default and that the setting cannot cannot be enabled as it's not supported.

Does anyone here know a work around on this that is safe that I can implement, I have tried everything but nothing seems to work. My bios firmware is on it's latest version which is 1.10.

You are welcome to add any opinion

Not sure if this is a Boot or Operating System issue so let me know if I need to move this to the other board. I'm trying to enable virtualization on my computer, which can only be done from BIOS (or apparently in the case of Windows 10 UEFi). I've followed various tutorials online to access UEFI (Shift + Restart > Troubleshoot), but when I get to the troubleshoot menu where there should be access to UEFI-Firmware, there's just a link to Startup Options/Settings (I can't remember the name of it exactly as obviously I don't have it in front of me right now). From what I've read the access to UEFI can vary depending on manufacturer, so I was wondering if HP might have moved access to UEFI somewhere else? Any help ASAP would be much appreciated as I need access to this to study!

A:Access BIOS/UEFI (Enable Virtualization)

Hi, You should be able to access this as follows. Shutdown the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  The option to enable virtualization should be found under the Advanced tab.....Device Settings.....Device Configuration. Regards, DP-K

How to enable hardware virtualization in Aptio Setup Utility?
I am not able to enable it in BIOS.
I want this because while installing Androin 4.4 in Virtualbox it is giving some error.

I have also uploaded Speccy CPU configuration which states that virtulization is supported and few pics of my BIOS.
Thanks.

A:How to enable hardware virtualization in Aptio Setup Utili

Hello,

Most important question: What is the error? We're not all-knowing here.
It might not be VT-x related at all, Android should be x86 in a VM and expect it to act weird.

Check the Virtualbox forums for specific details.
But a bit more on the VT issue:
I got a pc (here Medion) with Aptio as well. Problem is that I have AMD cpu on this one so the comparison won't help much.
Here the BIOS reports virtualization is on, I think. If your pc is new this year/last year, than VT-x should normally be on by default.

BUT: here Speccy says virtualization is disabled as well! Be careful, it might be a false warning. I can use virtualization in Virtualbox: the tab is enabled and I don't get any errors/warnings. So VT is ON even if Spaccy says it isn't. Check multiple sources to make sure.

Actually a good place to look is the VM log: Vbox.log in the VM folder: I see in my case AMD-V is used so virtualization is enabled.

Code:
00:00:03.677075 HM: Using AMD-V implementation 2.0!

In your case for Intel you should search for VT-X because it will report it ON or OFF.
Sorry, I'm not on my Intel machine at the moment but the previous lines should tell you what you need.

Good luck.

Hi All,

I have a Satellite Pro P100 P/N PSPA4E-00X00HEN on which I have just installed Windows 7 RC.

I desperately need to run Virtual PC 2007 (other versions won't work) on it but it wants Assisted-Hardware Virtualization enables in the BIOS (Phoenix Technologies V4.70).

I have just updated to the latest BIOS version but it doesn't have the facility to enable AHV in it.
I have checked the processor specifications and it does have the Intel Virtualization Technology facility.

From what I have read up on the internet, although the Processor is capable the manufacturers on the computers/notebooks, in this case Toshiba, program the BIOS to their liking which will either enable or disable certain features.

What I would like to find out is, is there going to be another upgrade to enable Virtualization or is there another way to do it.

Many thanks in advance.

A:Satellite Pro P100 - How to enable Intel Virtualization Technology

Hi

From my knowledge the usage of Virtual PC 2007 does not require a virtual technology supported by hardware (CPU).
I used Virtual PC and Virtual Machine on PC without the VT capability.

But you are right. The Intel CORE2 DUO T7400(2.16GHZ) CPU supports the VT
http://ark.intel.com/cpu.aspx?groupId=27256

Unfortunately from my knowledge the P100 BIOS does not support the option to enable/disable the VT.

A:Does HP Pavilion 500-297c have Virtualization?

@Mattwo?, welcome to the forum. The specs for the processor in the computer, i5-4440, show that it has Virtualization.  However, that doesn't mean that HP has made it available.  If you have gone through every section of the BIOS and can't find a setting, it is most likely not available.  HP has their components made to their specs.  This is the way that they are able to use the same processors in various models. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

So, how do you allow acces from one computer to another. I've set them all up on the same workgroup.....what am I missing? I've been able to send print from the wireless laptop to the printer attached to the wireless desktop. It's just the folders I'm having problems accessing.

Where exactly have "I've seen all over the place that you should not enable file sharing".

If you don't that is fine. But then you can't share files. Just a choice to make.

With a router you should be reasonably protected.

Hello,

Could anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of disabling cache writing on the priming HDD? Thanks in advance

A:Cache Writing - Enable or not to enable?

I think the default setting is usually to enable it?

I have a dim understand of it from memory. As I recall, enabling it provides slightly faster performance but has a slight risk of data corruption in cases of a bad shutdown--like from a power outage. It can also have consequences when using RAID.

The geekiest thing to do is to enable it, but use a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to eliminate the risk from power failure.

Me? I've always left it enabled and haven't knowingly suffered any negative consequences.

A:What Is "virtualization"?

Virtualization - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaIn computing, virtualization is a broad term that refers to the abstraction of computer resources. One useful definition is "a technique for hiding the physical characteristics of computing resources from the way in which other systems, applications, or end users interact with those resources. This includes making a single physical resource (such as a server, an operating system, an application, or storage device) appear to function as multiple logical resources; or it can include making multiple physical resources (such as storage devices or servers) appear as a single logical resource."[

Cheers for any info if you have some.

Hi johnmunch, yes you are right. Virtualization means you can run a guest OS within a host OS. Its useless and i would recommend you to turn it off as you run only one OS.

I have been searching the net and could only find old info on this subject, hopefully the answer is not as complicated as my info search has led me to believe it will be.

Simple question:

What do I need in order to run XP on a virtual pc running on a Vista Prem x64 machine?

Thanks in advance.

A:Virtualization ?

Virtual PC 2007 and a Windows XP disk.

is the B51-80 laptop supports virtualization capabilities (VT-x and EPT ) in its BIOS? it has the Core i5-6200U processor which supports them but i wonder what about the BIOS itself? also it has 4GB RAM and a 2GB-AMD video Chip

Hello all I have an AMD not OC d gb ram DDR and I run Windows bit and Ubuntu bit on seperate drives I do this due to past experience that if Ubuntu somehow becomes corrupt it seems to make booting into Windows difficult I know I should learn to just prevent fix that when it happens but it is easier for me to do it this way I have run Window OS-VM s before using Ubuntu as a host and liked the set up I just don t want Virtualization Software to live in Ubuntu fulltime Virtualization Software I have Windows and I want to move onto it but I have set up just perfectly it works flawlessly my opinion of course and am not ready to completely give it up Toss on Ubuntu and now it becomes very cluttered I would like to install bit as the host on a gb hdd install and Ubuntu as VM s give Win - gb and Ubuntu - gb statically I would enable the Virtualization within the bios so I could use more than just core for the VM s Is this Virtualization Software going to affect the performance of the host when I am not running a VM or only when I run the VM Oh I would use VirtualBox for the VM software Thanks Scott

A:Virtualization Software

Hi Scott,
This should not affect the performance of your host. Windows 8 runs well with VirtualBox; it doesn't use many resources and I haven't noticed any host slowdown (win7 x64). In fact in my experience Windows 8 runs a lot smoother on VM than its predecessors.

I installed Windows 8.1 with hardware virtualization (intel vt-x) disabled. After I installed Windows Phone SDK, I came to know that the emulator needs vt-x enabled. But when I enabled it, the OS is not booting, just showing the initial Windows logo.

Can anyone help?

Paragon has offered virtualization software but I do not understand what that is? I have only used Paragon to backup my system to dvd's.

Will someone explain the difference, and does it have something to do with a external flash drive?

Thanks'

Simono

A:Virtualization software

If it is a virtual drive software program it will allow you to make a drive like your CD-ROM to mount .ISO image files so you don't need the DVD or CD in your computer to play it
I use Daemon Tools for mine.
Some people have had problems with the driver.
It could also be the software to make the .ISO file with I don't know enough about what you have.

I use "Virtual Box" so i can run Windows 7 32 bit programs. I need to turn on virtualization to do this. How do I access the setting to turn virtualization  on. If it is in the BIOS can you tell me what key to hit when booting to access the BIOS. Thanks in advance

A:Turn on virtualization

Hi: Please take a look at the illustration below for where you normally enable VT on HP consumer desktop PC's.

I have enabled the Virtualization Technology from my BIOS setting and restart my system. I turned the system off for 20 minutes to make a cold restart. when I checked the status of VT in BIOS it's enabled but when I'm trying to run android emolator from android studio, It warns that the VT is disabled. when I check it's status from task manager it also shows that VT is disabled. My HP lap top is 6530b.please guide me.Thank you.

I have an Hp Envy m6 notebook(amd A10). I recently wanted to run virtual  box or vmware on my laptop. But found out that I need to enable virtualization in the bios to make it work. So I did go to the BIOS and enabled virtualization. But nothing seemed to be changed and the programs still didn't work. So, I installed an app called SPECCY to see if virualization is enabled or disabled and even thogh the vistualization is enabled in the bios, it said that it's disbaled. Can anyone help me with the issue ?

Does anyone know if the Dell Optiplex 780 Desktop Computer Windows 10 Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 Ghz 4GB RAM 320GB HDD  CPU is capable of virtualization?
Thank you.

A:CPU capable of virtualization

not anymore.  The Hyper-V client requires the core I3 I5 I7 series now.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1401.hyper-v-list-of-slat-capable-cpus-for-hosts.aspx

The Hyper-V role can be enabled on these versions of Windows 10:

Windows 10 Enterprise
Windows 10 Professional
Windows 10 Education

The Hyper-V role cannot be installed on:

Windows 10 Home
Windows 10 Mobile
Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise
Hardware Requirements

Hyper-V compatible hardware, the following items are necessary:
64-bit Processor with Second Level Address Translation (SLAT).
CPU support for VM Monitor Mode Extension (VT-c on Intel CPU's).
Minimum of 4 GB memory. As virtual machines share memory with the Hyper-V host, you will need to provide enough memory to handle the expected virtual workload.
The following items will need to be enabled in the system BIOS:
Virtualization Technology - may have a different label depending on motherboard manufacturer.
Hardware Enforced Data Execution Prevention.

Ben Fathi, VP of Development in Microsoft's Windows Core Operating System Division comments:

By bringing full virtualization to the desktop operating environment, Microsoft could accomplish two rather lofty goals. First, virtualization is ideal for keeping one user from ruining or dominating any particular system while giving them near-full access to that same system. This would be a boon for multi-user systems such as the PC that's shared by a family or a business. In fact, much like "profiles" can move around an Active Directory environment today, with full virtualization, a complete "system" could follow you around, provided a minimum standard of hardware be met. Even better, system maintenance and patching could be standardized in mixed-hardware environments.
