hp pavillion 15 notebook 15-p067 Windows 8.1 recover factory...

Q: hp pavillion 15 notebook 15-p067 Windows 8.1 recover factory...

hp pavillion laptop 15-p067ca model, purchased year ago, came with windows 8.1, was not updated to windows 10. seems to have a bug: on start up it welcomes me as a user "vladimir" asks for password and then hangs up forever with the white screen and unresponsive. Password I'm sure is right, because if I type different password, machine comes back with "Incorrect password" message. What do you think is a problem and how to go back to factory settings? I have not made a recovery disc. Any comp supposedly have a recovery partition, and Recovery Manager but how can I do anything if Window does not come up?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello katrapezo.  I understand you're having some trouble recording audio. Have you tried recording in another application such as Sound Recorder?  I'd also like you to remove your audio drivers and allow Windows to reinstall them.  Here are the steps.Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.Right click on your sound card and select "Uninstall."Reboot your computer.Verify whether the problem persists. Also, what is your notebook's product number?  This document can show you where it is located.Have a wonderful day.

A:Windows Vista Cant Recover to Factory Default

From doing some searches it seems the only solution was to do a clean install. But, try the following

Login to the account on the computer. Type CMD in the search box and Right Click > Run as Administrator

Type

net user administrator /active:yes
This will enable the hidden administrator account. Login to the Administrator account. Make sure your computer is part of workgroup and not a domain. Click the Change settings button

At a command prompt in the administrator account type

net user

Is OTHER USER listed?

I have a very old HP pavilion tx1210 that is not working very well and is loaded with viruses. I want to give it one more chance and try to take it back to scratch. I remember once when it was under warranty an HP service person told me to enter a word or two to completely erase the HDD but keep the operating system. I didn't keep that record and am wondering if anyone knows what that is or is there an eary method of erasing the computer while keeping the operating system. I have the disc for the operating system but just thought it would be easier to keep that on the computer.

A:HP Pavillion 15 Notebook PC-e061so

Hi: Run this free hardware analyzer that I have zipped up and attached below. Run the file, close the summary window and on the left side of the window, click to expand the Drives section. Then click to expand the sata/atapi drives section. Click on your hard drive name listed there.  The first line will be the Drive Controller spec. It will report the hard drive type running at a certain speed. For example Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 6 Gb/s. If your notebook only has a SATA II port, it might report Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s, or Serial ATA 3 Gb/s  @  3 Gb/s.

The first time I used the Migrate OS to SSD option in Minitool Partition Wizard. [/B]I have had the notebook for five years; yesterday the following message:

NTLDR is missing
Press ctrl + alt + del to restart

When the user does the instruction, the boot starts and the message repeats.

I really do not want to do a reinstall of the operating system; if someone has away to reinstall just the boot tracks.

Hello,I was recently given a pavillion dv9821ea laptop which was in bad shape after being infected with a virus. I eventually had to replace the hard drive and at the same time I upgraded the operating system to windows 7 PRO 64bit. I was unable to save nothing from the origonal hard drive, no drivers, HP software etc and since I installed Windows 7, the laptop seems to have several problems including not downloading Windows updates. I connect it to the HP assistant, but this recognises the laptop and only gives me the choice of Windows Vista as the operating system for which to support drivers etc. I wonder if you could help me by letting me know if there is anywhere I can download Windows 7 pro 64bit drivers for this laptop? my wife and I are both disabled and it would make a great difference to me if I could have full use of this laptop. Regards. Gerald

I purchased a HP Pavillion DV2222tx laptop computer that came with Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it. I then purchased Vista Business and installed without making a backup/recovery disk. I now want to put it back to it's factory condition and get Vista Home Premium back on it but can not seem to find how to do it.

There is still 4.46GB of HP_RECOVERY on D:/ that you can not see what is on it. Can anyone please help me to get it back to factory. I have tried pressing F11 repeatedly on startup - that did nothing, tried repeatedly pressing F8 as well - couldn't work that one out and just do not know what to do now.

When I installed Business it has taken away the Recovery Manager and I don't know what to do...

Please help me someone, PLEASEEEE.

Cheers

Sounds like it might be time for a reinstall to refresh the OS and overcome any lingering infection. Follow these same steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 particularly when it comes to drivers and Updates.

Extremely frustrated I've looked and tried to find a solution to no avail When the notebook boots up it gets to the login screen I wouldn't be able to do anything at that point but I can log in because I have a fingerprint scanner from there I'm dead in the water The only way to shut down is to hold down the power button While the computer is in bootup I have touchpad keyboard function I can escape to boot options BIOS repair etc and have normal functionality while there but not in safe mode I have ran SFC with commands several times chkdsk with commands several times nothing changes SFC says it found problems but was not able to fix all of them and keyboard Notebook and on Pavillion HP touchpad 3225dx dv6 Frozen the last chkdsk found nothing wrong Here are the events leading up to had disk errors and bad sectors in old hard drive could not repair cloned old hard drive to new hard drive there were errors but the new hard drive booted and worked for the most part correctly in the process of trying to fix missing setup files for applications and other miscellaneous small issues I ran troubleshooting updates chkdsk sfc etc removed various applications and added a few nothing worked I installed Revo uninstaller to remove Kaspersky Internet Security as it is THE MOST stubborn application to remove I've ever experienced The reason I mention that is because I went through my computer trying to find the leftover files even after Revo because Kaspersky was still running after re-installing it and uninstalling it again There were some files in System that had kaspersky attached to it's description I stopped them from running and deleted them They were close to the kb files and after researching which files Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to remove I remember in the end of the post it said it wouldn't delete Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook a certain file beacause you wouldn't have keyboard functionality I made sure I didn't but I can't help Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to think now that out of the files I deleted some of them kernel I may have deleted the mouse and keyboard files in error I tried a System Restore of the most recent point prior to the issue and it did not work I think now that I should have tried it again at an earlier point but didn't and I did that from the repair module obviously since I couldn't do it anywhere else I have tried since to do another but the restore points have disappeared The last time I had a working touchpad keyboard in Windows I ran sfc scannow offbootdir d offwindir d windows at boot in the command prompt I got the same message that it found errors but did not fix them all Then I ran chkdsk f r from boot at the command prompt When I returned to my computer after a couple hours I rebooted and no longer had a touchpad or keyboard I am up in arms and extremely frustratd as I feel I have tried absolutely everything to get them to work again I hope that the only option I have left is to format and clean install I do not have a full back up and can't get one fully executed at this point Please help Thanks in advance to any suggestion and assistance that you may be able to provide it's much appreciated The following link is to the support page of my Notebook http h www hp com ewfrf wc product product amp lc en amp cc us amp dlc en amp lang en amp tmp track link

If you have (and should have) a USB keyboard and mouse connect them and see if they will work.
Since your file system was already corrupted you cloned the bad files to the new drive.
If the USB devices work you should do a Repair Install.
If that doesn't work do this: Using System Recovery, Factory Reset and Minimized Image Recovery Options HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx Entertainment Notebook PC | HP? Support
From this tut:
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

   Information
On newer models HP Recovery may offer a Minimized OS Recovery option when booting from F11, which retains only the OS, Recovery Manager, HP Support Asst, and HP Wireless LAN. This is as close to a clean reinstall as you can get without doing one yourself.
● If you clean reinstall only to C and leave all other partitions intact, F11 Recovery key should still work later if you need it.
● You can also Extract HP 3rd Party Software from RecovCD.
● Problems with volume control lighting and HP Quick Launch buttons have been dealt with here where you can also get further support.

Hi

Several weeks ago I bought the new HP Pavillion dv9574ea notebook and the HEADPHONE SOCKETS do not work - there are two. Only the speakers work. Even when I put a working set of headphones which are the right size, I cannot hear anything through the hearphones. The normal loud speakers however keep working, although they should switch off when the headphones are plugged in.

Please see the screenshot of the drivers active (in system 32 folder) and other details about the headphone socket.

Thank you for any help.

Help please. I restored my computer to factory settings and am wondering if i can recover any of my lost programs such as my linksys wireless program. I did not ever backup

A:Can i recover after a restore to factory settings?

What is the make and model of your Linksys wireless adapter? On an internet computer you can download the drivers and software from Linksys
You will not be able to Recover any programs you had previously installed, but if the Restore didn't overwrite everything you may be able to find some personal files. (Documents, Pictures, Music etc) but there is no guarantee.
Try GetDataBack NTFS.

Am I now stuck with buying the IBM recover cd to get a clean XP install or can I work with ubuntu to fix this?

A factory install will erase all files on the hard drive, so essentially they are gone.

However, you may be able to recover some of them using a data recovery application like Recuva.

Hi guys

It's a cry (literally!) for help and I'd really appreciate if somebody can help.

My laptop was playing up constantly after the recent Windows 7 updates and eventually I couldn't get past a screen with system restore options. Having backed up my files on Seagate external hard drive beforehand, I've chosen the option to restore the computer back to the factory settings (which probably was a bad idea!).

After the system recovery, I went to access the external drive and encountered a massive problem: my files are not showing on the external drive (although the disk shows used space) and I can't access any files. I understand I might have to post this problem with not being able to access the files on Seagate drive as a separate thread, but my question is: Is there anything I can do to recover the files I've lost after I performed system recovery?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Lately my Laptop (toshiba satelitte) has become incredibly slow and full of crap I don't need. I would like to completely reboot the pc to factory settings.

I have searched and people suggest entering the hddrecovery option by pressing f8 going into 'repair pc' and then selecting the correct option.

The problem I have is that I have upgraded to windows 7 since I bought the pc and I know toshiba do not allow you to recover from the hddrecovery option once you have upgraded. My question is, how am I meant to restore the pc to factory settings without having to buy the CD's from toshiba?

Thanks

I recently aquired a laptop from a job I am working on.  It is a Folio 9470m running Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit.  I wanted to do a factory restore / recover on it, but it appears that those options have been hidden or removed.  I have a few questions: -Am I able to remove the corporate domain settings from the laptop?  The company logo shows up in the Control Panel>System page.  There is a company prompt when the laptop starts up after you press Control/Alt/Delete to login. -If there is no way to factory restore / recover the laptop, is it possible to obtain the OS / recovery material from HP?  This laptop has to CD/DVD tray so I don't know how I would even introduce the OS / recovery media. Thanks,Mark

Hello there

I have a net book accer with Windows 7 starter which I bought in Italy while I was there.
Since I'm not a windows user, I instaled ubuntu on it but kept windows because this netbook isn't stay with me.

So once I came back I start the recovery proccess. But, surprisingly for me, the recovery didn't rewrote the MBR and now I'm unable to continue it.

Since it is a netbook, it doesn't had a opctical drive neither I had any instalation disk.
I've tried to recovery it with a pen drive with recover console for win xp, to no results.
fixmbr and fixboot didn't work. It say the proccess was successful but at the restart the grub recover continue to show.

So, I'm without option but to try and put a Lilo just to make it boot to windows, but I don't want such 'by-pass' solution.

Any clues?

It sounds like you made the mistake of entering a BIOS admin or power on poassword.  If it does not provide a system lock code after entering the wrong password three times in a row, there isn't much we can do to help you. If you can't get past the power on password, even performing a factory recovery is not a possibility.  Contact HP for warranty service or out of warranty service.

Have a small Gateway notebook with win XP. Was talking to a Microsoft guy about installing win 10. He sent a link. Could not open. (Found out later the link would not open because the notebook could not be upgraded to 10). So he said go to win 8 and sent a link. Win 8 loaded but because could not change the resolution higher could not open any apps.

So he sent a link for win 7 which did load but did not load any drivers so cannot get on the internet. For 3 weeks he tried to help but could not. And he cannot tell me how to get back to XP or how to load win 7 drivers.

So that is my question how do I get it back to factory XP?
Thank You for help

If you have a Recovery disk boot to that and follow the prompts. Or, you may still be able to buy one from Gateway or a third party.

Else, if you have the original XP installation CD boot to that and install it.

Else, you may be able to borrow somebody's installation CD (assuming you have your Product Key); remember it has to be OEM.

PS -- I deleted your poll, as it made no sense to me.

I recently purchased an HP notebook with Windows Vista. I have no recovery or OS disks. Can I burn a copy of the OS and recovery disk from the recovery partition?

A:Vista Os Copy On Factory Notebook

The HP should have prompted you to make recovery disks. If not, go to Recovery Manager in the Start Menu and create them from there. Worst case, you can order a set from HP for about $20 US

I wondered what I could use anti-theft system for my notebook.I travel a lot bringing it back and was looking for a method to prevent or possibly recover my computer, and i often leave it in my studio and I would have no disappointments about. I saw that there are various software that can locate the notebook, but to do so the PC must be switched on and the boot completed, then any password access should be removed.Since the Zbook G2 17 has integrated SIM card, in the interior behind the battery,i was wondering if it was possible to use a Sim as a GPS locator in case of theft. What I wonder is whether it also functions with computer off or you have it turned on to send the signal Anyway, what kind of actions could do to prevent theft and / or locate the notebook after?

A:Prevent theft or recover the notebook

Robye64 What I use, and recommend, is Lojack for Laptops.  You install their software on your laptop and it hides it. You then register your laptop with their service. Whenever, after that, the laptop accesses the Internet, it sends information on the location of your IP address to the server, where it records it. If your laptop is stolen, you report that to the service.  They then watch for it to access the Internet again, and when that happens, they get the address. Contrary to the misinformation that is constantly presented in the movies and TV, the location reported is NOT the location of the laptop but instead, the location of the IP server that the laptop uses.  But, this does give the law enforcement authorities something to work with to recover your laptop. Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================================================================

I use the recover method from HP Notebooks to format and make a clean system. I have installed all updates from Microsoft. I had 3 or 4 BSODs in my notebook and I really don't what could cause this behavior.

A:Tips to recover info from Notebook HD

yes there is a device you can buy to connect it usb, however, if that drive is defective it will probably just be a defective drive connected through usb. there are utilities that can scan for physical drives to recover data if the drive is damaged. A program called "getdataback" may do the trick for you

Hi, I?m new to the forum and not really a computer ceek.
I got following problem, my hdd partition C on my HP Envy notebook is destroyed, the notebook has an recovery partition d which is also 500MB, how can I recover my personal data on the destroyed C? Is there the same data on the D like on the C?
The arms on the C are destroyed I guess everything else is working. I was thinking to get the same hdd drive and swap either the (double platters or the heads) but if I can do it differently I will refrain from taking the hdd apart.
Thanks for the help.

A:Dead hdd (C) on HP Envy notebook can I recover data?

Hi el condor,

Welcome to the SevenForums.

From what you have said I understand the HDD had suffered physical damage with a head crash. How did you decide that?

In such a case the HDD is a write-off and you cannot do a DIY.

If you want to do a data recovery in a physically damaged drive, you have to approach a professional data recovery service but it will cost you a bomb with unpredictable end results.

My honest advice would be to replace the hard drive. If you had made the recovery CDs, you can reinstall the factory installation.

If not you may have to do a clean install of the same Edition Windows that came preinstalled and use the COA key on the sticker of your HP Envy to activate it.

And if your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP Technical Support for the required service.

Some options: Press the F11 key when powering up to attempt running the recovery utility.Order the recovery media from HP and boot from that. I am not sure what recovery program you downloaded, I do not believe the recovery media from HP is available for download? You could also try a fresh install of Windows 10, instructions are here.

My hard drive is failing on my HP envy m6 and I need to install my windows 8.1 OS over to a new drive. The computer will not boot completely and I have bad sectors affecting the c: drive. Windows tries to fix them but it ran for over 24 hours and never finished. I have been able to copy over the recovery partition to a new drive, but an OS transfer using partition software does not work. Hi .

My initial impression...since they play in one program, it's probably a codecs issue. This may be complicated by the fact that this system has been insert/unused for 4 years and may be lacking various updates for the O/S which have been issued since then.

Since you have SP3 installed...I have to ask what version of WMP is installed...and have you installed any of the other noncritical updates pertaining to XP that might impact DVD play/WMP?
