Hello - I would be extremely grateful if someone coudl hep me, please!! I haven't used this particular laptop for years, but I desperately need to get back on it to retrieve some files. The laptop seems to work fine, but when I've turned it on a black screen appears with Enter Password in blue - it doesn't look like the normal Windows page that I can remember. It looks as though it's in some sort of safe mode or something. I don't know what this password is. If I enter it incorrectly too many times it says System Disabled Can anyone please advise? Thanks so much
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hi: See if entering this unlock passcode allows you to access the PC... ehwdihttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/HP-Pavilon-DV2000-REALLY-NEED-TO-GET-BACK-ON-MY-OLD-LAPTOP/td-p/5698086

While waiting for a reply:
I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests (located at this link: Hardware Diagnostics ). They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
Hard Drive Diagnostics (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.
Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)
There are also free, bootable antivirus disks at this link: Free Online AntiMalware Resources - Bootable Disks
The BSOD is a STOP 0x124.
This is most likely a hardware error - which includes:
- compatibility issues
- low-level driver problems
Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems due to the sptd.sys driver.
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ
I believe that you have Comodo installed on your system. Try uninstalling it to see if that helps.
AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.
Please uninstall all ATI stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download and install a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD
Then use the ATI uninstall manager to uninstall the Catalyst Control Center (CCC).
If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem in perfmon /report, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.
If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.
Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html
The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs:
3RD PARTY DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
- Please either update the older drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference links are included below.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
- Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers.

model dv2000 using the nividia chipset and not the intel chipset.
Check HP website. Believe your model is covered under service enhancement. Faulty motherboard probably. Fix on failure only. There is a document on the hp.com/support.
I have 2 of these laptops and both have surcumb to the dv2000 series mobo issue. I have found several places where they offer to repair the mobo at a reasonable price but I'd like to know, if anyone knows what it is that is causing the problem. I read something about possibly the solder on the video chip was comming loose and I know these units do put off some heat but I didn't think it was that much. As Uncle Sam was nice enough to teach me to solder I will be taking a look at that before comming off of a C note. Anyone have any other ideas on what might be the cause?
HP is offering extended warranty repairs (free) on some of the dv 2000 models

I have been given a HP DV2000 laptop by a friend that doesn't work.
When I turn the laptop on (with either battery or the mains) the power lights come on you can hear the fan start to spin for about 1 second and then stops and nothing else happens. The power lights still remain on, but there's no image on the screen, and I can't hear anything else making a noise. There's no beeps or anything either.
I had Vista on this laptop but i don't like vista so i decided to go with xp Pro but when i installed Xp Pro i don't see my network icon and it doesn't connect to the net .I tried 2 drivers and they are no good SP32144 AND SP33645 . I have a HP Pavilion DV2000 laptop running Vista/OS. When I power it on, all icons across atop keyboard are lit (blue). Below the keyboard keys, power and battery icons are lit blue, but hard disk icon is not lit. There is no display on the LCD. It never seems to boot into windows....just a black screen. The fan is spinning as well. I took out the hard drive and slave it to my work PC and can see the C:Drive and the data as well. Can't get into Setup/BIOS or safe mode via F2, F8, F10, F12... No display so I can't run a diagnostic system check. It's my daughter's machine and I am trying to resolve this before she goes back to college in January...."HELP"!
"Known Feature" As Microsoft would put it... here's the recall info page from HP:
I have a HP Pavilion dv2000 Laptop running Windows Vista and have owned since 2007 but it has been working fairly well with problem here and there that i could fix. But recently I have been browsing the internet and in the like 20 minutes after browsing the web the switch for the wireless connection goes orange (usually happens when you turn the switch off) but the switch has not been turned to the off position at that time and the connection where it says currently connected to it say limited connectivity. Does anyone have any ideas what this problem could be.
A side note* is that recently my subscription to Webroot Antivirus with Spy Sweeper has expired and not active but i don't know why it would affect my wireless connection.

Hi @guru99! I'm sorry to say that, but this error may indicate that your HDD is failing and needs to be replaced. If your notebook is still in warranty you can contact the support, but in case you're out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the hard drive yourself I would be able to recommend you some replacement. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Baselo Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! What will work is restoring your machine to its original factory condition using HP Recovery Media. This is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/driversOnce there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update". If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entry and click on Order Media for details.Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!---------------------------------------However, HP Customer Support is generally not available on the weekends, so you might have to wait until Monday to contact them.---------------------------------------If HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, a couple of other sites you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/Good Luckhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/pavilon-dm4-recovery/td-p/5733414

i have a Pavilion and when watching videos or listening to music the volume will go away or turn way down but the actual volume settings do not change just the volume its self. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and ran all the test. I have also shut off my mic and told it to do nothing in the auto volume settings yet it still randomly decides to turn its self down. I have spend hours with tech support doing the same things over and over and even rebooted my entire system. I have only had this HP for a month. never had a problem in 7 years with my old hp and this one is about to go in the trash.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/sound-issues-pavilon/td-p/5850816

Hi there, I am having problems trying to make a clean install of Windows 7 on my HP DV6000. I have rpeviously formatted and installed operating systems on many computers, but this one is giving me to fight!
The main problem is that the instalation never continues from the "Windows is loading files" at the start of the CD booting!
Does HP or this pavilon have any issues?
help will be appreciated!
Make your HP REcovery Disks or a backup image so you have a path back to factory condition. You can also extract apps from the HP REcovery disks using this method: http://www.sevenforums.com/installat...tml#post488270
Next make sure you have the latest BIOS version update from HP Support Downloads webpage for your model, which is safest installed from Windows.
CHeck also in the BIOS for SATA controller setting: try AHCI first, then IDE if necessary.
Now wipe the HD to get the cleanest possible slate: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation
Clean Install Windows 7
If install fails again, remove all but 2gb of RAM and test your ram with memtest for 5-6 passes. http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
Then test your HD using maker's full diag/repair CD scan: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
Where did you get Win7? DId you burn it yourself?

hi all i write this post becouse i realy suprised yesterday... My pavilon 15-ab291sa is 3months new and when i start use Ashampoo Movie Studio Pro 2 to create and build my movies my laptop stop working... Graphic card is realy low, and i thinking to add one more and that is the qyeston, can i add 1 more good graphic card to my laptop ???
robcioslaw Sorry to say this, but you're operating under a misunderstanding, as laptops to do not have customer-replaceable graphics "cards". Instead, they have a graphics processor (GPU) that is soldered to the system board which also contain the CPU chip. While these are sometimes replaceable, that involves sending the PC to an HP Service Center and paying a LOT of money to have it disassembled, have the system board replaced, and have it reassembled -- typically considerably more money than simply buying a more powerful laptop. So basically, it is not practical to upgrade the graphics on a laptop. I kept getting a blue screen with an error code 0xc0000185. I ordered the recovery Disks from HP but when I went to recover the machine, it sort of reads the cd and then I get the HP logo and the circle just spins and spins. We left it alone for hours and nothing. I ran a Hard Drive Test and it said Hard Drive Short DST Check: FAILEDthen gave this Failure ID: 63621R-7AQ87K-MFPV6K-60XL03Product K7U05UA HARD DRIVE 1 SYSTEM EXTENSIVE TEST: FAILED Any idea what I can do? It is just out of warranty- Of Course.
Hi, The 24 character error id does confirm a failure of the short Disk Self Test and would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced. This is also consistent with the issues you describe. If you would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know. Regards, DP-Khttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Pavilon-Failed-Hard-Drive-Short-DST-Check/td-p/5745096

Shutdown the laptop.
Turn it over and remove the battery.
Open the access door that covers the wireless card, reseat the card firmly.
Reassemble and see if that helps.
Another thing to do is in Device Manager, under the properties of the wireless NIC, configure the power properties to disable any power saving functions.
My notebook stop working as if someone pulled the plug. It is not overheating. I have a HP 12 cell battery and it is half full when it stops. I cannot reboot immediately. I have to wait about 30 sec. and runs fine until the battery runs out. Can anyone help me with this problem?
Some DV2000s had serious motherboard issues.
Might be time for a new Laptop.
Hi i have a hp pavilion in to look at it was not booting windows i got it going had it sitting on my desk when shutdown and displayed a hardware error message something to do with the memory.
so what i want to know is do the pavilians suffer with heat problems or any other problems that might cause this .........
All laptops suffer from heating more than desktops do. HP laptops are no better or worse than other laptops concerning heat. If you are concerned, go out and buy one of those cooling platforms for laptops. If you continue to get memory errors, check your memory using Memtest86. Let it run for 7 or more passes

hi and welcome
so on boot you get no boot screen? or does it give you the splash screen then go blanK?
I have the above laptop that won't power on with the AC and battery in, the battery out, the AC out with the battery in. The DC power jack is "loose" which I stripped the PC down and didn't find anything wrong with it. Swapped RAM, HDD, etc, and on boot got NOTHING.
Saw online this is not an uncommon problem, but the laptop is four years old, way out of warranty.
Wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and what you did?
From what ive heard and been told about the hp dv models they seem to have problems with motherboards failing.i would have it checked out and go from there if it turns out to be a bad board.

Have you checked your video card?http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/52342-hp-dv2000-refuses-everything.html
Ok it s been a long HP Dv2000 Problem week but i ll try to explain this the best I can from the beginning Feel free to question me if i ve missed HP Dv2000 Problem anything along the way Story broken to three parts Part Basically I have Windows XP on my laptop and I wanted to upgrade to HP Dv2000 Problem Vista the vista advisor looked through my comp and said my spec is fine Ran the install everything downloaded fine until the very last part where I had to restart and start vista for the very first time It would show the HP logo but then it gives me a sec blue screen then shows me a black and white screen with options on changing to safe mode revert back to original settings start windows normally etc pressing any of these options does not help the sec blue screen would show again and bring me back to the black and white screen I gave up on vista and wanted to leave it for a while until I had time to try it again however I can t change back to XP blue screen then black and white screen just keeps cycling Part I have no operating system for my laptop so I go and get my recovery disk that came pre-installed on my laptop but i ve burnt it onto disk before I attempted vista The recovery disk didn t work the blue then black and white screen came back to haunt me I did the correct procedures boot from CD follow instructions etc Lost everything on my pc basically so I decided to use a retail XP disk and give that a try at least same thing happens again the blue and black and white screen comes up I tried everything I can think of and I managed to install XP in the end by disabling SATA I tried with recovery disk but no luck Ok so I got XP back everything s running crap and slow so I go and re-download all my drivers from hp and microsoft website because it didn t come with the XP disk and the copied drivers is still in my recovery disk obviously However my laptop still is running very slow like it take seconds for me to load the start menu or pull up firefox or up to secs to load a program It strange because I have a new copy of XP so there shouldn t be any junk to slow me down I ctrl alt delete to look at processes looked at recycle bin checked my installed programs and everything else that could be deleted cleaned and there s hardly anything in there By the way I wiped my previous partition clean so everything on the laptop now is clean and past data free yet it s running slower compared to my old XP os that is game and data packed and ran faster than this Part The only thing I could think of was me disabling SATA so I tried enabling it again but I can t because the blue and black and white screen comes up again stopping me from loading windows Over the couple of days the slowness became ok slighter faster but is still quite slow compared to my previous version of XP on the laptop I looked into my system information in start gt programs gt accessories gt system tools gt system information and it showed my total physical memory is mb but my available physical memory is mb Where did the mb go I m not even running anything at the moment just an internet browser and background processing is not alot at all I checked this with right-clicking My Computer and selecting properties and it said mhz mb of ram What happened to all my memory and processing power I went into my BIOS to double check and it said I should have mb i ve got the latest update on my BIOS so if I SHOULD have it then where is it I m pretty sure this is why my laptop is so slow Please help This laptop is giving me hell nbsp
Looks like you still have vista installed on the drive too... the best way to fix it would be to flatten it completely and reinstall xp. Not 100% sure if this is going to be possible with the BSOD happening all the time. Before you start the recovery with sata anabled do you get the option to repair the current copy of windows installed? Does it ever ask you which operating system you want to start? just a feeler to see if i can get some more information on the problem.
i have a problem with winfast dv2000 tv card, i have the disk a it pops up the below error , i then downloaded from the site itself same problem
please help me in desprite need of the use of my capture card
Got a similar problem, my system [HP dv2000] laods up to the windows startup error screen with two options, (a) to perform startup repair (recommended) AND ( to start windows normally. Both options lead to the windows laoding bar scrolling thru then eventually only a blank screen. Waited for more than 2 hours but no change.
I've tried using a recovery cd to repair startup but it also hangs in the same way. What do i do please?
Please...don't hijack someone's situation, it's far too easy to just start your own and forego the unnecessary confusion/irritation.
Now that you have you own topic...have you tried booting into safe mode?

WLAN CARD: Broadcom Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-PCI Card
I bought my HP Pavilion dv2000 from Best Buy last October. I don't want to send my computer in to repair because I need it for school work.
Recently, the wireless light on my computer has gone orange, instead of the normal blue showing that the wireless card is active. I was on tech support with HP for hours, installing and reinstalling drivers. I ended up having to wipe everything off my hard-drive (which seems to be HP's solution to everything). Nothing changed.
HP mailed me a new wireless card in the mail. I installed it. The wireless light is still orange.
Is there anything I can do which wouldn't require me to ship my computer out?
Hi,I wanted to restore to factory settings, but when i press F11 the restore manager doesnt load. I dont have restore disc, but when i try to install a new Windows Vista, i see that there are3 partiotions, which partition 1 is guarded by the system. Is there any possible way to restore my OS from that partition. And if not, how can i get the original restore disk these days?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/HP-pavilion-dv2000-partitions/td-p/5653688
Hey, everyone. About a year ago I had a HP Pavilion dv2000, but it went into what I call a coma. When you turn it on, the Quick play buttons light up, all the lights light up, as in if it were in sleep/hibernation. One issue, the screen doesn't turn light up. Right now I'm on my new laptop, the HP Pavilion dv4, which crashed for some reason yesterday and lost all my files. But no worries about the crash I just need to know how to fix my dv2000. Here is a picture of what it looks like turned on.
I would want to just say bad backlight, which would be very difficult to replace, but in reviewing this person's response it sure seems to ring true, and there is a heat issue with the display chipset. HP acknowledges here some display problems, but most of the solutions there are HP repairs for systems still under warranty. Unless you have the skill levels to attempt the repairs on the chipset solder yourself this really is one for a repair shop to address.http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/hp-pavilion-dv2000-issues-356167.html
i have a hp dv2000 and i put windows xp on it and now i need the driver for the internet can some body help me and tell me wich one is the driver? it doesnt detect the ethernet cable i already install the one for wireless
Go to support.hp.com
You can either manually put in your model number or let it automatically detect.
From there you can get support for your computer.
since you don't know the exact model DV2000 just select automatically detect but it should be on a sticker on the computer.
i have a hp dv laptop that has had problems for a couple months it first help dv2000 Hp wont boot! froze up a couple months ago i left the computer on my couch and the colors on the screen the page had looked like the page had melted or someone tore it all up i then shut off the computer then i turned it back on and it was fine a couple days later it did it again shortly after i got Hp dv2000 help wont boot! to the desktop then again and this time it came just after it booted then while it was booting it did it once again but this time it showed vertical rows of chinese lettering across the entire screen i shut it off by hand holding the power button this happened a few more times then i finally got a longer period to try to fix it so i restored the computer to factory date then after it was done when i thought everything was fine it did it again i havent turned it on everysince and just recently for the past month ive turned it on but only the led lights come on and the light on the cd rom come on but the computer doesnt start up boot i dont know whats wrong a friend of mine left his heated blanket on a couple times and left my computer on it which may have caused something and my dad covered up the fan with a blanket to protect his leg from getting burned i need some help from anybody advice anything i havent been able to start up this computer for over a month HELP PLEASE nbsp
Even before the last part, when you mentioned the couch, I was thinking that it has overheated. It really is best to use laptops somewhere other than laps. Clothing and blankets often block the air vents, and laptops, being packed tightly, need cooling to be very efficient.
It's quite possible that a major component, maybe the CPU, is burned out.
Howdy I m having a problem with an HP DV laptop that I can t seem to figure out A couple weeks ago I got this laptop from a buddy on charging, turning not DV2000 but HP that said doesn t work Said I could have HP DV2000 charging, but not turning on it since its no use to him It came with a battery but no charger and has been known to work I took it home and plugged in my universal When using my universal I found it didn t have the power to start everything up HP DV2000 charging, but not turning on so I was out of luck on that I ordered a knock off charger Those ones you can order off Ebay or Amazon and thought that would have done the HP DV2000 charging, but not turning on trick When attempting to use the new charger and pushing the power button I could have swore I smelt something burning but wasn t too sure Anyways while still using the knock off charger the light at the end of the charging port lights up signaling there is power getting to it BUT the battery charging light doesn t appear and the computer still doesn t power on No other lights no beeps no display no nothing Does anyone have any ideas nbsp
"Does anyone have any ideas?"
yes, the motherboard is fried. You can get HP laptop motherboards from EBay too, sometimes for under $100
I have upgraded a HP dv2000 (HPdv2171cl) to Win 7 and now I have a touchpad problem. I have installed the HP Vista driver and the Synaptic driver trying to get the touchpad to work, as well as scoured this and other sites for advice. The touchpad is jerky and the scrollbar on the side is not functioning.
The only thing I can find that is out of place is that under device manager, there is listed "other device" Unknown device. ?
Try these drivers - I use Vista x64 on my laptop - and it works brilliantly.
Drivers | Synaptics
hi i got a hp dv2000 that stoped working i was thinking the hard drive was bad so i replaced it with another one and still nothing windows 7 disk wont boot to disk but windows xp pro runs through and come up and says that no hard drive was found please turn all drives on and make sure they are connected
Looking for a how to on building a Digital Photo Frame from one of these. Anyone know where I might find some instructions?
Do you mean to turn the Laptop into a Digital Photo Frame ???
I'd use Irfanview and make a Slide Show .. Then play the Slide Show.
Do I have to purchase another screen? It comes on but no display, it's blank, but the lights(LED) are on. The HD light on the left hand corner of machine does not come on.
I have a HP DV 2000 notebook that is about 3 months old. It is running windows Vista business. Yesterday i noticed that the front headphone jacks will not work. I have tired all the drivers i could find however the ports still will not work. I here a pop when i insert headphones into the jack however sound still ONLY comes from the PC sneakers . Any ideas??
my dv2000 is still not working, after a ntdlr error. anyways, due to HP theres a problem with my recovery software and the disk ive created no longer workd, so, befor i shed out £25 on a new set of disk does anyone have any ideas! either a way around the pc revovery(bear in mind i dont have the origanal xp disk) or maybe a file download for the disk. any help would be much apprisiated!
without xp installation cd or working recovery discs there is not much hope to restore NTLDR.
personally, i wouldn't pay HP £25 for a set of recovery CDs, ask for a windows installation cd instead.
for future purchases keep in mind: NEVER buy a system without OS installation disc
Hello Thank you ahead of time for taking the time out of your day to help me with my problem Laptop information HP Pavilion dv AMD Athlon x Windows Vista I am attempting to troubleshoot my laptop it will not boot past a blank screen I have tried the following troubleshoots already Connected external Monitor Performed a hard reset Disconnected the battery Checked the RAM connections Checked the CPU connection Checked warranty with HP expired of course So far the furthest I got was when blank HP screen boots DV2000 I started it up ONCE it said quot Operating System Not Found quot which was flashing It never happened again just once I read on a forum that the AMD motherboards in this computer were recalled but I cannot find that forum again nor can I find any relevant recall information HP DV2000 boots blank screen on HP s site Anywho just wondering if any of you have any ideas for me to help resolve this issue If possible I would OBVIOUSLY like HP DV2000 boots blank screen to retain the files on my computer I am a realist and realize this probably is not possible hahaa Thank you ahead of time Newman nbsp
does it use geforce graphics? cause there's been alot of complaints of faulty nvidia cards in hp laptops.
btw, just buy a $20 SATA / IDE to USB converter and you can retain all your data in your notebook, as long as the hard-drive is not defective.
or just buy a cheap 2.5" SATA HDD enclosure and mount your laptop HDD there.
Hey I own a HP Pavilion dv AMD My problem is that my wireless had suddenly stopped working This had occured about weeks ago and I have tried to fix it since then and there is no luck I am planning to get Geek Squad to try to fix my problem but I thought I would ask around on different forums first My wireless indicator Left Off Orange and Right On Blue Now when I flick it right it stays Orange Therefore I do not receive any wireless signals I had checked the drivers on Device Manager and HP my wireless Pavilion Problem dv2000 with it is not there SOMETIMES when I scan for Problem with my HP Pavilion dv2000 wireless Hardware Changes I pick up my WLAN card which is a Broadcom b g WLAN But it shows a Yellow Triangle Exclamation mark next to it as well I scan for Updates and it say mine is up to date Whenever I restart my computer it would be ORANGE Problem with my HP Pavilion dv2000 wireless again RARELY Problem with my HP Pavilion dv2000 wireless whenever I turn my computer on out of hibernate it would work The switch would be BLUE Whenever it is placed into hibernate or off then is turned on again it will be ORANGE again Therefore not working MY ATTEMPTS OF FINDING THE SOLUTION Scanned for viruses Re-installing the drivers needed It would ask to reboot and after its done rebooting it still does not work Any help is appreciated nbsp
Welcome to TSG!!!
Go to device manager, click on the network card, select properties, remove.
Immediately reboot the computer and let Windows find and reinstall the card.
This should take care of the problem.
Before you go to the "geek Squad' post back and let us know how this works. If it doesn't there are probably some other things we can suggest and save you the $$$$$
Hi guys I got myself a Pavilion DV Special Edition off ebay got delivered a few days ago and theres quite an issue with it Not sure whats wrong but when the AC adapter is plugged in it doesnt charge Bar none it doesnt Theres a - Rejects DV2000 Power? Pavilion ring around the AC adapter socket on the laptop to indicate its charging this doesnt turn on The charging light on the front of the laptop Pavilion DV2000 - Rejects Power? doesnt turn on either Before this happend the laptop was on and working happy as larry but it told me to plug in the AC adapter and it didnt do nothing when I did Ive ruled out faulty power sockets and the AC adapter works with my Pavilion DV standard and DV so it cant be a faulty powerbrick Whats striking is that I dont think its the motherboard If the mobo was damaged Pavilion DV2000 - Rejects Power? wouldnt the laptop refuse to start And when the power brick is plugged into the DV special the actual power brick makes a weird beeping noise as if the laptop is resisting the charge Any ideas Its an awesome laptop dont really want to send it back Cheers nbsp
The power connector on the laptop might be damaged.
so my fan is loud and doesn't stop running. it starts to run when the OS (vista home premium 32bit) is loading. i tried updating the BIOS, doubling my memory and using compressed air to blow out "fluffies", and nothing seems to work. But I'm not even sure what's really wrong with it. someone help me please I use it at school for notes, and during class all you would hear is the professor and my laptop Is it a hardware issue like could i just replace the fan or the heatsink or whatevs, or do i need to send it to HP's repair center (worst ever!!!) it's still under warranty
I somewhat recently purchased the above-mentioned laptop (several months ago). It has been great, running quickly, smoothly. But, recently, out-of-the-blue, it has begun to freeze.
A few days ago, it started to freeze for about 2 seconds, then stutter through a second, before freezing for another 2 seconds etc...etc...During these instances of freezing everything would stop, from sound to the cursor.
The problem has been getting progressively worse, and now my laptop will not boot Windows. It will just sit on the loading screen for half an hour.
Before it came to this point, I ran virus/spyware scans and found nothing. I tried a system recovery to a more recent time, but now it has stopped working altogether. Any suggestions?
ok all of the sudden my headphones stoped working. I can still hear sound from my internal speakers however neither of the headphone jacks on the front of my computer will work. I have tried several different pairs of headphones. I have updated all the audio drivers and still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated

hp pavilion dv2000 for windows 7 driver?
Hi: You can use the Windows Vista drivers for any drivers you need after you install Windows 7. If you can connect to the internet after installing W7 either wired or wirelessly, you should first launch the Windows Update program found in your programs menu. That will find the latest drivers for some of your hardware components. For anything else that Windows Update didn't find you can use the Vista drivers. Here is the link to the dv2000 series support page. You should select your specific model number for the Vista drivers. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/pfinder?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=228&sw_lang=&tool=&query=dv2000 You may also want to read this handy upgrade guide for your model series. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-systems-and/General-Windows-7-Upgrade-Guide-for-HP-L... The nVidia chips found in that series laptop are known to found problem, even some replacements could experience the same problem.
It's a 4 year old laptop, possibly 6 from original release and they are generally poor quality and low spec'ed laptops so I don't think it's worth putting in much money into it at all.
I am worried now.
What can I continue my lesson without my laptop? Right now, the battery is not working any more! I need ur helps!
Do you leave your battery attached to your laptop when it is plugged into the power supply? If so...DONT!!
It's always best to pull your battery when you are not mobile, since batteries have cells that contain "memory" and can only accept a certain amount of charges, or "hours of charging."
Also you want to allow your battery to FULLY drain before you charge it again. Also, allow it to charge 100% and then either remove the battery or power supply unit.
As far as the battery you have now you may need to obtain a new battery; either through your warranty or purchase of another.
Once a battery is dead, it's usually done.

Hey there, i m facing some problem in HP Pavilion DV2000 display. My Vista was working good and suddenly the screen got strange types of lines on it. I upgrade the video drivers but nothing went fine. So last night, I upgrade Windows to 7 and still got that same problem. I want to know whats the problem I cant understand whether its display card problem of screen problem. Please guide.
See the video
It looks like the LCD panel is damaged. It's quite easy to determine: take a screenshot and post it here and we'll see. (Screenshot with Paint)
If the screenshot does not show these lines, it's safe to assume your LCD is damaged because screenshot shows exactly what your GPU is sending to display.

I have an HP pavilion dv2000. When I turn on the computer it boots, shows me the options and everything, but after the windows symbol shows, the screen goes completely black. Everything works properly if I boot it in safemode, which is how I have been using it lately. I've tried the battery trick, as well as resetting my bios settings. The fact that it works in safemode tells me its not a problem with my video card, or monitor connection. I have also run a virus scanner in safemode.... nothing came up. Any other ideas?
Have you tried changing your resolution? Or do you have a dual monitor setup?
Try uninstalling the video card in safe mode, then restart and see what happens
My laptop is 2years old and the power turns on, makes a beeping sound in a series of

Please help me with my HP Pavilion dv2000, i changed it from Win7 to Win Vista. then when i was installing the drivers from the HP website. everything was working fine and suddenly i notice that the webcam does not work. i got this error message from the Device Manager.
My Laptop is currently running at
Thanks in advance..
PS. i tried to install the driver like more than 10 times from yesterday and until now. still no good i tied to uninstall and reinstall, still no good.
EDIT 2 i also got this error message when i reinstall the driver.
Are the drivers specific to Vista 32 bit? I've found that some drivers are cross compatible between Vista and 7 but not all of them. Also if you had a 64-but version of 7 you cannot use 64-bit drivers. Also is this Vista disk from the same manufacturer? If not you can't use it.
As a side note 1.4 gb of ram is not sufficient for Vista. With that little you would have been better off with 7 since it handles memory slightly better. 2 gb is the absolute minimum with either OS though. Without at least 2 gb more than likely your system will be relying on virtual memory which is really slow.
Hi, I have a problem with my HP Pavilion dv2000, I upgraded it to Windows 10 64 bit and the sounds are gone. I tried several methods such as: *disabling all the enhancements *uninstalling audio driver conexant smart audio high definition 221 and scan hardware changes, a pop up message says " a digitally signed drivers is required " *updating audio driver but it says i have the updated driver. I also tried to disable the signed drivers enforcement, it worked but when i restart my pc there it goes again, I tried disabling the signed drivers permanently by using the bcdedit /set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS and bcdedit /set testsigning on but my pc still dont have a sound. Can someone help me?
Hello, I had the same problem with my wife's hp pavillion dv2000 laptop. After a few frustrating downloads of various hp sound driver upgrades I found the correct one to use. I downloade and installed the following sound driver - Conexant Universal device install/uninstall x64 applicationVer 220.127.116.11. I uninstalled the old driver and manually installed this new driver. Vola - the sound worked like a champ. Hopefully you can have te same results as I had. Thanks for your help guys
My laptop is too slow, I have no idea why. I installed new copy of Windows XP last night and formatted the hard drive and it didn't sort my problem out. I did basic hard drive maintenance such as disk cleanup, defrag, checkdisk etc. I've had this laptop for about 5-6 years and it became slow a couple of months ago. I never opened the laptop or anything like that at all. Please help me what to do, thanks.
Lets hava a quick look at the system, even though it is a bit "oldish".

Thank You -
I have a strange problem. My system shutsdown unexpectedly. When I shutdown, this is what happens:
1. The system goes blank.
2. The power goes off.
3. On powering on , "Windows Resume" screen comes and I am redirected to login screen and once logged in I can see all my applications - just like hibernation.
This problem has started occuring repeatedly now. Could someone please help? I was following the other thread Vista unexpected shutdown and here are the attachments for the three files - AIDA32, CoreTemp and Process Explorer.
I don't play games. Could someone please tell me the cause of it? Only yesterday I have formatted my entire laptop thinking that might solve the problem only to face the shutdown again unexpectedly 3 times so far
I have Vista Home Premium. Please let me know if any other information is needed to be supplied. One more attachment to follow.

I recently switched over to Win7 but my graphics card wasn't working so I put in compatability mode which kind of worked except for the fact that now I can't open any programs that have to do with my graphics card I can't even put I screen saver without having the blue screen poping out.
If you go to C > Windows > Minidump, zip up the files and upload them with your next post, you may need to copy them to your desktop first.
Chances are its a driver thing, but the dump file will give us more info.
Can you include some system specs in your next post too, thanks.
I dont know how to fully explain it but when I hit the power button to turn the laptop on where as normally it would start up with the screen to hit F12 or F2, well mine just doesnt do anything and stays black but lit. So basically it doesnt start at all I guess. Any suggestions on the problem?
Also if it helps, when I restart for updates or for instalation of something, it never restarts right. It will shut down, screen goes black, then black lit, but never anything after it
Do you hear it trying to boot? Do you hear any beeps? If so describe, long, short, number etc.http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/275869-start-up-problems-vista-hp-pavilion-dv2000-home-premium.html

This is no guaranteed solution_but one which has worked for some.In Device Manager remove/uninstall all the entries under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.Start with the last and move up,removing each.Reboot to see if any change.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-built-in-webcam-doesn-t-work-Hp-Pavilion-dv2000-notebook/td-p/12429
It seems lee all of my USB devices are unknown. I try to update drivers and check their status, but it tells me everything is up to date and working properly. The reason I reset to factory default is because my wireless was not working and comp was slow etc. Now I checked for a wireless driver and its not there! I only have NVIDIA nForce networking controller and 4 unknown devices. I just want to surf tye Web for images and print them out. Please help! Also, I tried to connect my nook via Bluetooth (for image sharing) and it says paired but not connected, check Bluetooth radio. Oh and when I plug any type of USB device the pc doesn't even recognize it.
Factory Recovery normally includes all the drivers for that particular laptop, except for any third-party devices that were added since it left the factory of course, like a printer or scanner etc. That would explain why certain USB devices don't work now.
You need to download missing drivers for internal components from HP support and install them: HP Support & Drivers | United Kingdom
Note 1: The website above is for the United Kingdom. If that does not apply to you, click United Kingdom at bottom left to open an interactive World map(or click United States if that's what you want).
Note 2: there are 15 different models in the DV2000 series so you'll need to look on the underside of your laptop for the exact model number.
Drivers for any external hardware like printer, scanner etc. will need to be re-installed from the CD that was supplied with that device, or downloaded from that particular device manufacturer's website.
I have hooked up my Dell Inspiron 15 (N5050) with Windows 7 Home Premium to my big screen TV. I use a VGA cable, a converter box, and a s-video cable. The TV receives the signal fine, but there?s a problem:
When I plug the VGA cable into the laptop, I get images on both screens (laptop and TV) for about 5 secs. Then, both screens go black and then I only get images on the laptop. Then, after 5 secs, the screen goes black and then I get images on both screen again....and so on. Because I only have 5 secs, I don't have time to make any changes unless I unplug the VGA cable.
Also, each time the screens switch (from 2 to 1 back to 2 to 1...) for five secs, I hear the sound that you hear when you plug in a thumbdrive. It?s as if I?m unplugging the VGA cable every 5 secs and plugging it back in.
See if you've got a hotkey combo on the laptop that can control the display being used. Usually something like Fn+F3 or Fn+F4.
Also the display adaptor software may have some configuration settings to play around with to customize how it all works.
I have an HP Pavilion dv2000 Notebook. All of sudden the speakers aren't working but I can get sound from headphones. I hear chirps from the speakers when I touch the Quickplay buttons but that's the only sound I can receive. Nothing is muted. Can anybody help me figure out what's going on? Thanks!!!
Could be a sticky headphone jack, try plugging in and removing the headphones a couple of times rapidly.
I need to know (if its at all possible) how i can link up a typical desktop pc, with a dell laaptop, through ethernet cable, and set it up so i can transfer files, and possibly use the internet connection of one, through the other.??
Can somebody please help!!

Hello I downloaded Windows last Friday which seemed to be o k However when I entered my password It came up as an Incorrrect Password After several more tries I decided to contact Microsoft groans permitted I spent MANY hours on the telephone but only seemed to get through on limited occasions to operators in different Countries who couldn t help me themselves but told me they would put me through to someone in the Technical Dept I did eventually get contacted by can get into I back How Laptop a Technical Person who opened a case and has actually phoned me back twice He has guided me through several procedures none of which has allowed me to Log into my Laptop I m sure there must be a way of removing the password obstruction or bypassing it which he isn t prepared to tell me perhaps for Security reasons He is phoning back tomorrow I wont hold my breath but I would be How can I get back into Laptop most gratefull of any help to get back onto my Laptop It almost goes without saying I wish I had stayed with Windows Regards Brian henby nbsp
Did you make an full image backup before you upgraded. If so roll back. If the password isn't working it may be a key on your keyboard isnt working. The password should be unaffected during an upgrade.
