What M.2 SSD is recommended for ATC-710-UR61?

Q: What M.2 SSD is recommended for ATC-710-UR61?

Just got a ATC-710-UR61 Desktop. It has an M.2 slot for an internal SSD. Anyone have experience/recommendations of those that install and work without any grief? Thanks.

Preferred Solution: What M.2 SSD is recommended for ATC-710-UR61?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: What M.2 SSD is recommended for ATC-710-UR61?

these are the 2 models that Acer uses:? Lite-On ? 128GB CV1-CC128 / 128GB CV1-8B128 / 256GB CV1-8B256? Kingston ? 128GB RBU-SC152S37 / 128GB Micron / 256GB Micron i think that Samsung or Intel can work without issues, especially latest Samsung.

I'm looking for a decent ergonomic mouse to help take stress off my wrists while they heal and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations. Ergonomic keyboards are also on my list, but I will be unable to get them at the same time. I'm willing to go near $40 for one if that's necessary for a decent one, but I can't get them both at the same time due to a strict budget. I'd be happy if anyone could help me out. My only exclusions would be something being shipped directly from china Thanks

A:Recommended Ergonomic Mouse and Keyboards?

I like the Logitech Wave keyboard and mouse combo. Together, they go for $50. The MS ergonomic keyboard also seems fine looking at the reviews, but I haven't tried it personally. I would google, "Best Ergonomic mouse and Keyboards" and see what they recommend.

Hey, my processor is old and slow and it's time for an upgrade. I'm looking for something *substantially better* but not extreme high end. I'm looking to spend around... $250.

This is my rig here, could anyone recommend a CPU upgrade you feel would be reliable and fast for midrange price?

Thanks

A:Recommended CPU upgrade?

Your board will support Core 2 Quad processors which should give a bit of a boost.
All depends what you are using it for. For games, more and more are now utilizing more than 2 cores but not all so I wouldn't expect massive improvements. For video editing, 3d modelling etc. you would see a decent performance increase.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 Yorkfield 2.66GHz 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115057 - $181.99

(Your board will support up to Core 2 Quad Q9650(rev.E0,3.00GHz,1333FSB,L2:12MB) but none listed on newegg, since I'm not on your side of the pond I don't know many other sites to search. Pretty sure it would be an expensive part too)

For around your budget you could just get a new system and put your 6850 into it.

Core i3-2100/H61/4GB/1TB SuperCombo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.719539 - $297.99

The i3 processors aren't the best performers. I'd try and stretch to an i5 if you decide on this route. The linked combo is just an example of what you can get for your money. If you have a decent power supply unit and case you can cut down on what you need to buy. There are some decent bundles on CPU, motherboard and ram available. Have a look around before you invest in old technology.

I'm looking for a little 10-inch laptop for schoolwork and browsing, not gaming or anything intense like that.
Looking for what recommended minimum specs I should be on the lookout for.

I'm considering this little Samsung 10.1" Netbook featuring Intel Atom N455 Processor (N145)
http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product...l-atom-n455-processor-n145-n145/10161401.aspx

My local pc folks are selling it for $400 CAD tax included, including $73 upgrade from 1G ram to 4G.
Good price?

I'd rather buy from a local store than purchase online, if not for reliability of purchase and continued support options.

A:Recommended specs for a word processing notebook?

What is the ratio between Canada and US when it comes to money? According to that link the system is on sale until 8/11 for $219.00.

The biggest issues for me would be that the Best Buy offer only has a) Windows 7 Starter installed; not even Home Premium, b) no need for 4 gigs if the operating system is only 32-bit because only a 64-bit OS will utilize 4 gigs and more RAM, c) the Intel Atom is slow.

So, IMO, it isn't worth $400 locally as is and again no need for 4 gigs if the OS is 32-bit. Shop around more and search for a Lenovo x120e system.

Hi!

I'm about to buy a new LCD monitor to connect with my laptop. My laptop has a 15,6 inch screen with 1920x1080 resolution. For my external monitor I'd like to have the same resolution, but what about the size?

Does someone have any recommendations? Not to big (right now I'm using a 32 inch TV, way to big to be comfortable), but not so small that I have to sit too close to the screen. I'm thinking somewhere between 19 and 24 inches. Any opinions?

A:Recommended monitor size for 1920x1080

I have a couple 22" Acer monitors, my only complaint on them is their default color settings are horrible. That is of course fixable with your video card's control settings. I got a pretty good deal on mine about 6 months ago, I don't know what they cost now, but it should be pretty reasonable.

They replaced 2 Benq 20.1" 1680x1050 monitors which I really liked.

I've just assembled a new computer, but I am still using an old 15" lcd monitor. The processor is an i5-750 and the video card is a 4870 1gb card. What resolution wouldn't be too much for the video card to handle.

I will be using this setup for gaming. I am thinking 1680x1050, but that is just guessing. I am currently using 1024x768 for all my games. Thanks in advance.

A:Recommended monitor resolution for 4870 1gb card + i5-750

hey

the card can handle games nicely up to like 1920x1200, but it also depends what games you wanna play (thinking about the fps rates).

Hi

My previous PSU (ATX-400-JSP - 400W EZCool) has just decided to stop working after i smelt smoke coming from it! ive researched this PSU online and just realised it only costs 12! ive had the pc for 2 years and all has been fine until now.

(Please check my profile for my specs.)

Which PSU would you recommend for my PC? I wish to spend about 30-40.

Thanks.

Hi all,

A very good friend of mine offered me this hard drive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145180

It's a Hitachi Travelstar 7k200 2.5" SATA HDD.... It has 16MB cache and a 7200 RPM speed.
My current drive is a WD Caviar SE 8MB cache and 7200RPM speed, so that notebook HDD should be quicker, am I right?

Since its SATA, I'm thinking about buying it and use it as my primary HDD on my desktop computer......

Is this possible to do? Im mostly sure I can use normal SATA data and power cables to connect it to my motherboard, right?

So do you recommend it? (My friend asked me only 20 bucks for it, and yes, the HDD is new )

Thanks =)

hello,

just wondered what the reccomended refresh rate is for LCD widescreen monitors, as i have just bought a 20". On my old 17" CRT screen i always had the refresh rate at 75 hertz as my eyes could not stand 60 hertz. I now have the refresh rate set to 75 hertz on my new monitor, but was wondering if that was correct for a LCD widescreen monitor???

thanks in advance

Hi folks a couple of months bqack i built a new rig for d rendering at work cpu Core Quad mobo AW D case http www overclockers co uk showproduct php prodid CA- -AK amp groupid amp catid amp subcat cooler Stock retail Now at idle the cpu temps were C which at first i felt were a cooling for core2quad? A:Recommended cooling for core2quad?

Did you use thermal paste when installing the cooler? This cooler you just installed should outperform the stock cooler by a fair bit.

Also, you need enough ventilation in your case, you've got enough case fans? One at the back, and an intake either in the front, or on the side would suffice.

If you need better cooling, the Tuniq Tower is just about the biggest aircooler out there. The biggest is the thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, but the difference is not enough to warrant the higher price (you gotta buy your own fan too).

PWM is just a way for you to change/monitor the speed of your fan. Don't worry about it, its not crucial.

Hi everybody,

I have a Vapochill XE case currently housing a P4 system, but I'd like to replace it with a core2 system.

I'm thinking I can get new proc, mobo, ram and graphics card and use the existing Vapochill setup to get a fast system.

I'm looking at the E6700 or QX6700 (though the latter is pricey!), and I've heard that they are good (even warrantied??) for OCing. Is this right?

What do you guys think of the processor choices - better options? Also can anyone suggest a well reviewed motherboard, graphics card (with one dual link DVI) and RAM for a decent stable system. I do video work and 3D and would rather a stable system than a crazy fast one - however, a quad 3.2-3.6 system sounds pretty sweet!

Any advice?

Z.

the best overclockers are the low-end processors. this is because CPU models based on the same core will all have a similar overclock ceiling. the advantage to the higher models is that you have higher multipliers to work with, however that doesn't necessarily mean that it will overclock any higher. that being said, you may wish to save your money and go with a lower model.

yes, they are excellent overclockers. no, they are not warrantied for good overclocking. you will void your warranty by overclocking (however, there really is no way they can tell unless you say you O/C'ed it )

A:Recommended graphics cards for Oblivion

If you can stretch if 30, you can get this (7800GS), which is the best AGP card on the market. If not, you have it's little brother for 198 here.

ATI's offerings are a bit less competitive, but might be better suited for Oblivion (due to their support of Bethesda). The previous top-end card X850XT comes in at 155. It's very fast, but doens't support SM3.0.
Their fastest AGP offering that does is only about a 100, but doesn't perform near the X850XT, is the X1600 pro, which is the only 512Mb ram card linked here.

I suggest looking at some reviews to see how they perform in different areas, and then going for the one closest to your req's...

A:Would it be SAFE and RECOMMENDED to Overclock my current CPU?

What are you planning to use this PC for anyway? IMHO, there risks associated with overclocking. As usual, if you're not careful and didnt do your homework enough, you risk losing your hardware.

If I were in your shoes, I would probably think of OC at a later stage.

What soundcard works fine under Windows XP?

I wanna get rid of my SB 128 PCI and get a new soundcard without crackling trouble under Win XP , what about the terratec DMXFIRE 1024? anyone here with this souncard?

Thanks.

A:What soundcard recommended for Windows XP?

I personally have an Audigy and it works great with XP Pro, but I have heard of others experiencing crackling with their setup. Maybe I just got a good card

Here is a review on your product:

http://www.game-revolution.com/games/hardware/dmx_xfire.htm

At any rate, Terratec has done a really good job of manufacturing a card that has something for everyone, successfully teetering the line between gamers and music enthusiasts. It may be roughly, twice as expensive as the Maxi Sound MUSE, but in the end, the Xfire achieves at least 4 times the quality. With the DMX Xfire, you just get what you pay for.

Graphics Card

I am taking a survey for anyone who has an EPOX 8KHA+ Mobo... specifically what graphics card do you use and how do you like it?

Also, how much memory do you have and which OS?

The reason I am asking is because I have the following:

Epox 8KHA+
WinME
Hercules Prophet 3D 4500 64MB
512mb RAM (1 stick)

I have had all kinds of problems with my graphics and am about to the point where I am sick of trouble shooting and ready to just buy a new card...

I want to spend around $150 dollars or so, but I could spend over $300 if the right card came along...

Please let me know if you use this mobo and what card you have and if it works good... or if you just want to let me know what card you use and how it is that's find!!!

Thanks,
Dan L.

A:Recommended Graphics Card for EPOX 8KHA+, problems with Hercules Prophet 3D 4500 64MB

You have the latest drivers from Hercules?
You have the latest motherboard drivers from Epox or Via?

I see from your other post that you have these already
From what others have said its getting better with each driver release. But if you really want to switch cards the Geforce3Ti cards have come down in price (3Ti200 for about $125) with the release of the Geforce4.
Also the ATI Radeon 7500($83.50) and 8500 (can be found for as little as $149)

Hi everyone!

Windows updates are available in different categories: important, recommended and optional.

As noted, some of them, for reasons not known by users, have broken the OS of different users.

In your opinion, what is the best option of choice?

Grateful to all!

Sorry for my poor grammar,
and thanks

A:Looking for recommended anti-virus softwares

You ask a common question for which you will receive varying opinions and recommendations. There is no universal "one size fits all" solution that works for everyone and there is no single best anti-virus. Every vendor's virus lab and program scanning engine is different. Each has has its own strengths and weaknesses and they often use a mix of technologies to detect and remove malware. In many cases choosing an anti-virus is a matter of personal preference and what works best on a particular system. You may need to experiment and find the one most suitable for your needs. Please read:Choosing an Anti-Virus ProgramSANS Institute Choosing Your Anti-virus SoftwareHere are links to some recent BC discussion topics with opinions from other members:* What is the best antivirus protection?* What's the best premium security suite in the market currently?* Recommend a good free antivirus program* Which antivirus and malware programs should I use together?* Antivirus Solution? Here are links to polls about this very subject:* Poll: Best Antivirus and Firewall* Poll: Best Anti-Spyware/Anti-Malware/On-Demand ScannerMy personal choice is ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus if choosing a paid for program as it leaves a small footprint...meaning it is not intrusive and does not utilize a lot of system resources. Emsisoft Anti-Malware is also a good choice if looking for a paid for program and so is Kaspersky Anti-virus. If you don't want to pay then I would recommend avast! Free Antivirus or Bitdefender Anti-virus Free Edition.

Dear All,

I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question - if not can a Mod move it to the appropriate place?

I have fixed a colleague's laptop. It was running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with 1Gb memory and I gather that it prefers at least 2Gb.

Given that it is running with 1Gb (which I guess is the minimum), what is the recommended amount of memory for a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installation?

Thanks in advance

ESET Nod32 and Smart Security are excellent security software. Out of the box it will protect you, as long as you're not an ignorant Internet user who dismisses security warnings etc. Unlike Nod32, Smart Security also comes with Anti-Theft. You can log in to your ESET account here, https://my.eset.com/

You can customise ESET to detect PUP/PUA (Potentially Unwanted Applications), here's how: http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2629

Eset Nod32 has the ability to show and notify of windows updates, every time there is an update, it shows me
critical and recommended one's, but when going to the update center itself, it shows me no recommended updates
.
My question is why windows update doesn't allow the installation of recommended updates.

Eset is consistently showing many Recommended Updates pending to be installed. To confirm i even successfully updated one of them from Device Manager.

The problem is that neither Windows Update is catching these recommended updates nor is it downloading them automatically which includes motherboard, printer and many other important device updates. How do i force Windows to 'see' and download these 'recommended updates'? I did not find any setting to manage this feature.

Please help guys.

Is it necessary to install recommended updates that don't apply to me? They must be called "recommended updates" for a reason. But barely any of the issues they fix occur for me.

Also, there is one recommended update that I'm not sure if I need of not. This update appears to be for USB Type-C billboard support but what is a billboard in this case? I may get a phone with a USB Type-C port in the future but that doesn't mean the computer itself has a Type-C port, so do I need it?

A:Should I install recommended updates that I don't need?

Id say NO, some of them relate to W10 upgrades.
You can allways check them via the more details option on the same screen.

If you have WU set to "Check for updates but let me choose" then no updates will be auto installed. Not even security updates. They'll all appear in the list for you to selectm/deselect.
If you have the option "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important" then all the recommended updates will appear under the important section. If that option isn't selected, then all the recommended updates will appear under the optional section.
If WU is set to Automatic and that option is checked then all the recommended updates are installed automatically along with the security updates.

The only management tool I see specifically referenced in the installation documentation is MonogoVue which appears to no longer be maintained.

From the installation guide (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn707704.aspx):

To help in troubleshooting and product enhancement, it is recommended that you install MongoVue and any other MongoDB add-in, or any other third-party tool of your choice
However, www.monogovue.com is down and apparently has been for several months.  mongodb-tools.com lists MongoVue as Inactive with the last release being just over 1 year ago.

Microsoft initially released KB3121255 as "Optional" and has now upped it to "Recommended".

This update will replace NTFS.SYS with a newer version. This is perhaps the most important driver on any Windows 7 system.

As we have all learned from experience, newer doesn't necessarily mean better. But, of course, older doesn't necessarily mean better either.

Is there any consensus regarding installing KB3121255 or hiding it?

Hello, I recently did reset of my Windows 10, Today I got two messages Via HP Support assistant for udates is it safe to down load these recomendations? Thanks

A:HP Support Assistant recommended Updates

Yes, if updates are recommended by HP Support Assistant I would install them.  I suggest installing them one at a time by selecting them separately.  This will allow you to know which update causes a problem if one occurs.  I know this takes additional time, but it can certainly save frustration later. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Hi All As per the title suggests - just purchased one of these off the web and it's a nice little machine. Tried to fit a 128gb OCZ Vertex drive but it doesn't slot all the way into the SATA port, whereas a standard HDD does. Appears to be down to the physical profile of the drive and the slot. Does anyone know of an SSD which will fit? I saw another thread which mentioned the Crucial M4 and the x25-m SSDs, but wondered if there were any other owners who could shed some light on this.

I just did a clean install of Windows on my laptop, and one of the things that I'm missing from before is the HP recommended power settings, which gave me better battery life than any of Windows' build in power options. I tried looking on the driver download page for my model, but I didn't see anything that seemed like it would restore this option. Does anyone know if there is a way to reinstall this?

Hi All,

I am a computer scientist going for my PhD and I also run a small repair business for a living and while I know how to update my drivers manually it can be time consuming to figure out what drivers you are missing and where to find the latest driver. That being said I am wondering if anyone knows of a good driver scanner out there that gives good results. I have tried a few in the past but they appeared sketchy as after manually updating all of the drivers they suggested (if there was an update from the manufacturer, there wasn't always) they would continue to list drivers that needed updating along with the cost for them to do it. I don't mind buying a program if it will work but I can't waste my money on a piece of junk.

Thanks for your suggestions

Daniel

A:Recommended Driver Scanner

Hi,

the best way to get drivers is from the manfacturer, most people d/l drivers and install them in the wrong order ,drivers have to be installed in a sequence starting with the chipset and then so on,as of driver scanners most of them will find drivers and install them in the wrong order or even d/l the wrong ones this is by far the best one in my opinion,

this is a guide how to install drivers on a dell machine, most o/s install them in this sequence,

Hello, i've been having some problems with my Zone alarm security suite. I know how it happened. The windows update. But now, i don't wish to use ZoneAlarm and i need to know some recomendations.

Only need recomendations for ANTI-VIRUS software. Maybe the software has anti-spyware or something inside. Just tell me and i'll research the software.

Thanks in advance.

A:What ANTI-VIRUS software recommended?

As far as free anti-virus software is concerned I believe AVG 8.0 free edition is still one of the best. I think the new version also comes with a free version of the anti-spyware. My suggestion for ZoneAlarm would be to turn off the anti-virus program and anti-spyware (obviously after you have a different one installed) and just run the firewall at the medium setting which is a temporary workaround for the windows update bug.

Please read this sticky: http://www.techsupportforum.com/f112...ed-203704.html

If you cannot complete any of the 5 steps for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed, and post your logs in The HJT Help Forum; where an Analyst will assist you. However, it is very important to make mention of any of the steps that you were not able to complete.

After you?ve posted your logs, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are very busy.

I am hoping someone could recommend a proven safe free registry cleaner as my system now being 2 years old has a lot of junk in it and starting to slow down. I feel rather confident as this is the culprit as I know there are over 1000 bad entries in it. I am very cautious of downloading unknown programs. I have used regscrub to try to help, but we all know that this really doesn't do much for a system in this shape. Anyways, does someone know of one they would recommend?

A:Looking for safe/recommended free registry cleaner

registry cleaners are very dangerous, if used incorrectly it can do major registry damage. In fact theres a sticky in at the top of this forum telling us not to advise the use of registry cleaners. If you feel your computer is in major need of a registry clean up, it may be better to start from scratch by formating teh drive and reininstalling everything.

I personally use ace utiliies but its not free and it does have a 30 day free uncrippled trial. In the past I have used ccleaner from ccleaner.com for it will do a little clean up and does some registry cleaning - its free.

If you decide to use one, make sure you create a restore point prior to its use. If the registry program has one, do not rely on it.

Use any registry programs at your own risk.

Is this the problem only I face, a known problem or do I need to go for factory restart.

Recommendations needed:

I need equivalent applications, which will remove
All unwanted applications from start up
Application, which disallows any application to install in start up.
Snoop free for windows 7
WinPatrol for windows 7
Other tools which help to avoid virus, trojans etc.
And other essential applications which are recommended to run to avoid virus and suspicious pop ups.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Regards

A:[SOLVED] Windows 7 Recommended Tools for maintenance

You should be able to change startup programs from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools\System Configuration You can follow those items in control panel or click at the top of a window(where it shows a symbol and says my documents/control panel etc.) and copy paste that into it. Then click on startup. Unless you mean something that does it automatically?
As far as avoiding viruses and such, I see Malwarebytes Anti-Malware recommended everywhere and I use it myself.

If I ordered the Windows Repair disc--would this take care of the problem?

If so, what should I order--I saw the Windows Repair disc on Ebay for $10

Recommendations?

A:Recommended Repair disc

What is the error saying? What where the conditions before starting? It very well could be a physical hardware problem. Without knowing any conditions its hard to say if it's worth buying.

One of my suggestions is to use Memtest86+, which can help diagnose if it's a RAM problem. Do a google search to find it's website, and follow it's instructions. It's an ISO file that your going to have to use a disc burning program to burn to cd. The instructions on their website is all laid out. Let us know if it doesn't work.

Good luck,

Start Windows 8 PC - hold power button for 5 seconds whilst it's loading Windows - Warning - this comes at risk of corrupting user profile if not windows it's self though Microsoft in all its wisdom has seen fit to remove the F8 accessibility to safe mode. MS seems to get stupider the harder they try - unbelievable!!

A:Easy way to get Windows 8 safe mode - not recommended though

Why post something that's not recommended?A very simple solution to regain F8 safe mode....Go to above tutorials....and look under W8...This will also explain why Microsoft chose to go this way.

I know initially it'll run on a couple of gigs but, I also know after updates, antivirus, and firewall downloads and updates after some time the memory gets consumed and the computer gets really slow. My daughter got a laptop for her birthday and it came with 2 gigs of RAM, a dual core intel processor and windows 7. Shouldn't this thing have at least 4 gigs of RAM to allow for all the updates and the antivirus and firewall software and it's future updates, or does it really need more? You know it's cheaper to get it already installed than to add it later.
Thanks!

hi, like to know how to enhance my machine's performance (like stability, speed, etc.)?

hope any softwares & apps recommened be freeware.

i use XP's defragmenter, are there any better defragmenter out there?

anyway, like to know if there's any way to enhance internet speed, surfing, download & upload speed? memory speed, harddisk speed? stable OS? burn CD's & DVD's faster or avoid lagging or slow writing & buffer underrun probs? any tweaking needed?

my OS is XP pro, have only 256 RAM, 40Gig hard disk (2 partitions), internet speed is ranging 700 to 900+ kbps.

A:Recommended Ways To Enhance Machine Performance

256MB RAM is a bit on the low side - so one obvious method of speeding up your system is to add more RAM, although this will come at a price.

You should have a close look through all the applications and services that are set to run at system boot/login and disable any that are not needed. This will free up your CPU and RAM and should speed your overall system up a bit.

I recently had to replace my CPU and Motherboard.  The folks that built my computer replaced these items for me.  I've been noticing a lot of crashing and slow down of the computer.  Last year you guys had me run the following on my computer to clean it up and get it running smoother. I use Autodesk Civil3D software for my business.

This is the order of operations I used to do the cleanup per previous recommendations by you guys last year, is this still what I should do?
1.      MiniToolBox
2.      Malwarebytes (MBAM)
3.      TDSS Killer
4.      AdwCleaner
5.      Junkware Removal Tool (Shut down protection software to avoid conflicts)
6.      AdwCleaner
7.      ESET Online Scanner
8.      Update (MBAM) and rerun
9.      TFC

A:Losing SSD Space! Tried many recommended fixes; Malware?

Hello Wendy,
A typical Windows installation with bloatware ahd a few programs as well as personal files should really not be bigger than 70, 80 GB at most. So, something must be not okay here. I doubt it is malware though, so lets see if we can find out what exactly is taking up so much space.

Please restart your computer and tap the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Menu options come up. Select Repair Windows and press enter. The recovery environment will start loading. Please allow it to load and provide the information it asks for (keyboard layout and login details).

First of all, select System Restore and see how many restore points are available. Do NOT do an actual restore, just let me know the number of available restore points (if any).

I have two issues:

1. Constant "recommended for you" pop-under adware, sometimes on both sides of my screen at the same time. It's very irritating.

2. High percentage of redirects (either IE or Firefox) to weird, unrelated sites that have little to do a search query. These sites are sticky, in that you can't simply use the back key to exit. I have to close the browser tab and start over.

I had redirects a couple years ago and this forum helped me clear it up. I'm on XP, and have tried using many adware/spyware products and they don't touch these problems. HELP ME!

Thanks, Frank

Hello all.Thank you for providing a solution for these types of problems - your time will be much appreciated in advance. So for months now, I've had this very annoying "recommended for you" pop-up (in FF, IE, and Chrome) which pop in the lower right side of the browser. And then, most of the time, end up redirecting me to a website after I click a link on most any web page.I've been meaning to tackle this extremely annoying (and potentially harmful?) malware for awhile now.To whomever is kind enough to help me squash this bug once and for all, you have my full, undivided attention and I am ready to take orders. Thank you.

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster. NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of hartaches if things don't go as planed. Hello,

A month or so ago my PC became infected with the "Recommended for You" adware. Most sites (in particular ones that employ Google Analytics) cause my browser to bring of a black and white pop up in the lower right corner of my screen, often in the shape of an iPhone. You can hit an 'X' to close it but then it just shrinks to a smaller box that reads "Recommended For You." I've tried running every anti-virus program I have and more but nothing has helped. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I keep getting redirected when I click on links and a small pop-up that reads "Recommended for You" shows up just before or after I get redirected. This has been going on for months & I haven't done anything about it because Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Microsoft Security Essentials haven't found anything.

I could use some help.
