I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

I apologise if this is the wrong thread Hi My desktop is showing my warranty warranty information incorrect as expired which is clearly not the incorrect warranty information case as my warranty certificate states nbsp I contacted HP shortly after I bought it April of last year to tell them it was incorrect at the time showing only the standard yr warranty they said they would update it incorrect warranty information to the proper date yrs hence nbsp I have spent another minutes on the phone today only to be told again to provide proof of purchase and proof of warranty is it not enough that I provide the warranty certificate number nbsp Forgive me but it is not rocket science to enter the warranty details into a database they say it is not that simple I beg to differ nbsp I have just purchased another HP laptop x convertible with an additional yr warranty and I am expecting to have to go through all this yet again nbsp If the email I have sent to prove purchase etc does not resolve the situation where is my next port of call nbsp Regards nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp

Today I thought of checking the dell website for new driver for my Inspiron 3537 but when I ran the system detect application it said that the Service Tag was not recognised by the website.

Why did this happen?
I am using Windows 10 Home Edition (upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 to 10)
Tried calling technical support but the call never got to them. It just ended without any warning such as system busy or anything.

Yet again laptop has frozen and crashed.  This time will not reboot.  Followed instructions how to access recovery prior to contacting hp this morning.  Would not discuss problem with my as record shows laptop is out of warranty.  I contacted hp a few months ago and was told said thing scanned receipt sent copy assured record had been updated to reflect correct warranty status. This has got to be the worst laptop purchase ever, I spend most of my time trying to solve sluggish performance issues and recovery options due to laptop either freezing or crashing.  Please can a knowledgeable representative of HP contact me to firstly confirm status of warranty has been corrected and secondly how do I return through laptop under warranty,

I purchased a several call... even incorrect after is Warranty date new Y from CompUsa in October but the warranty expiration date on the Lenovo website reflected June nbsp My intent was to purchase a warranty extension so I wanted to make sure the dates were correct nbsp nbsp I called several departments and finally got someone who told me to email my proof of purchase nbsp In the meantime I ended up exchanging the laptop due to a RAM issue but this serial number had the same problem nbsp The date on the website indicated the laptop was purchased in June nbsp nbsp nbsp I went ahead and emailed a copy of my new receipt to lenovo pop suth com and I even explained that the serial number was different that I'd originally told them Warranty date is incorrect even after several call... due to the exchange nbsp I never heard back so I eventually called again nbsp The person had to dig through the email files to find my emailed receipt nbsp She found it indicated it woudl be corrected and even offered me a discount on the yr extension nbsp At Warranty date is incorrect even after several call... the end of the call she asked if there was anything else and thought it would be good to just double nbsp check she got the right serial number nbsp Of course she hadn't nbsp She was updating the old serial number and putting Warranty date is incorrect even after several call... the two year extension on the laptop I had exchanged nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp We sorted that out and when I got my receipt for the extension nbsp the serial number nbsp was correct but when I go to the warranty lookup it still shows the incorrect date nbsp I read in this forum that the website doesn't always show the extension date which is pretty sad nbsp but from what I've read the standard warranty should be correct nbsp nbsp I even saw that someone else on the forum said they gave it a few weeks for it to update nbsp nbsp It's now been months and it's still incorrect nbsp Will it ever update nbsp

I purchased a notebook on 02/08/2015 but when I checked the website today it says that the warranty started on 06/30/2014 and ended on 08/03/2015. I have the receipt which clearly shows the purchase date. How can this be fixed. Thanks.

Like so many others on this forum, my new HP Pavilion laptop has the wrong warranty start date.The laptop was only purchased on 11th January 2015. I have two issues. The first issue is that I purchased my Sprout on January 13, 2016 and when checking the warranty online it states that it started on November 6, 2015. I have read other forums about this being a known issue and I would like this fixed immediatly.  Secondly, I have just set up and started my new Sprout today. (It took a while because we just bought this house and wanted to make sure we had the office set up before we set up the Sprout.) The speakers DO NOT work. I have done everything that I could possibly think of to make them work and still nothing. I am currently on hold with HP Customer Service and have no spoken to a rep yet. I have been on hold for 15 minutes so far. Can someone please HELP me! Thank You

Brooklynn429, welcome to the forum. Here is a answer to how to deal with the difference in the waranty start date: We have a PoP process setup for this. Proof of Purchase. We don't have access to sales systems for everything we've sold through our partners and retailers so we have to use the good old fashion Proof of Purchase system. The customer simply sends (fax I think is the current method) us the receipt and we update the warranty status. That simple. I guess it goes without saying that they need to contact support for this. You will have to contact HP Customer Support to get this accomplished. As for your sound, I suggest going into the Control Panel / Sound to see if the speakers are selected as the Default.  Sometimes in Win 10 the settings are changed for no apparent reason. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Like so many others on this forum, my new HP 250 G4 Laptop has the wrong warranty Start and Finish dates. The laptop was purchased just two days ago on the 8th JULY 2016 from Tesco Direct.  However the Start Date of the warranty check is showing as 22-Feb-2016 with an End Date of 23-Mar-2017. Obviously I would like this corrected, the machine is still unused and unopened should I need to return it due to this Warranty issue. I have downloaded my Invoice as Proof of purchase from Tesco. Thanks in advancesparky

I'm having an warranty issue here similar to some others nbsp My factory warranty ended on I purchased an extended warranty on May th from representative through online Chat Got an email includes order number but with a wrong Start Date -JUN- The start date should be -JUL- instead of -JUN- Online chat representative agreed and replied the following message during the conversation PM Sa ar Yes that will be updated soon PM Sa ar From the warranty team PM Sa ar And the service Warranty Date Extended Start/End Incorrect order number will be sent to the email PM Sa ar within some hours The representative promised that the discrepancy of my warranty start end date will be updated soon within some Incorrect Extended Warranty Start/End Date hours but that hasn't happen till now I filed online Incorrect Extended Warranty Start/End Date warranty dispute and replied to the HP Support email twice all I got is an official reply as following without solving any of my problems According to our records the Extended Warranty start date for your HP Spectre x - - dx ENERGY STAR is and the end date is If I look up my warranty it says Covered under Extended warranty months remaining But if I click on Contact Support button I got a message says Your product Incorrect Extended Warranty Start/End Date s warranty expired on July and my only option indicates Out of warranty products may require a fee for phone support My HP Support Assistant also shows EXPIRED It's frustrating and my support option is limited since HP thinks I'm out of warranty but in fact nbsp I'm not Anybody knows how to deal with this kind of situation Thanks

I am trying to gather the warranty information on quite a few of our companies HP thin clients.I have a list of all the serial numbers I am looking to gather information on, but not the product numbers.These thin clients are spread out through 11 seperate locations and getting all the product numbers for these would be quite un-pleasant.I found an area in HP support to get the warranty information i desire but it requires both S/N and P/N.Is there another area that would only require the S/N?  This would save me much time and frustration. Thanks

I will request someone look at this to see if they can get it resolved for you. Did you get any papers for the Accidental Coverage? Thinking you may have to register that first- just a guess though.  As for the Product number being different that usually changes when you customize the base model and are assigned a new Product number to match the hardware/software in your model. This should not have any negative impact on warranty coverage.

Just purchased an XPS 15 9550 from eBay and the service tag, when searched in the Dell database yields no warranty. This can't be right. Is this a mistake?The ship date is also January 01, 0001 which doesn't make any sense.

Hi there, I have a HP Envy laptop that was purchased one year ago, last week the laptop stops booting up and  as I was traveling i did not have the chance to have it looked at or send it to HP.This friday i return home and have the laptop looked at by a computer repair workshop and they find out that the motherboard is shorting. Today i go online to go see what my options for repairs are and the warranty has expired 12 hours ago. Does anyone know what my options in this situation are if i can provide proof to HP that the laptop died when it was under warranty or am i just screwed by what happened to me ? With advanced thanks

Hello, my company has resold nearly 100 Acer laptops in the last year. All have worked great except one. It will not charge a battery. We have verified this by swapping batteries from identical units.
 
The real issue is that we cannot get this unit replaced. It was purchased from Newegg Business and when calling the support number and entering the SNID [edited for privacy]the automated system says it's out of warranty and sends us to the 3rd party.
 
So then we communicate with Newegg who says Acer has verified the warranty and for us to call back. This has been going on for over 7 months! Meaning in less than 5 months the real warranty will expire though this thing has never been used.
 
Please help!

Thanks, we tried that many times. The Newegg rep just found that by using the chat support and entering the full Serial Number it finally worked. The phone support nor chat would accept the SNID. So this was the root of the  problem.

Hi, I purchased a brand new Lenovo Edge 2 - 1580 Laptop from Bestbuy while I was at West Palm Beach, Florida, USA. The Serial Number of the Laptop is R90HPBVZ and Model Number is 80QF0004US. I travelled back to India. Everything went on fine until one day, when I heard a craking sound on the hinges while I was closing my laptop. Two screws came out broken. The touch panel got removed from the back panel and is almost hanging. The covers that are over the hinge region came out. Currently, the laptop is working fine, yet I cannot close the laptop. Im having a strange problem when im overclocking,
the cpu freq changes to random values, so does the multiplier.
It has done this with both the fox one OC utilily and the easy tune 6 OC utility
im using currently. I know they arent the true values because my PC wouldnt run at (1000mhz) for example. I dont press anything it just does it, this makes OCing
more difficult because it wont tell me the true CPU freq values.

Can anyone help me on this one?

Starting my PC for the day I notice that all the Windows folders had lost all the information at the top, thumbnails, titles, details.....etc. I checked everything that I knew to check and nothing. I went to MS support and found service bulletin #813711 and followed the directions without any results.
Using:
Windows XP PRO up to date
Intel 2.5 GH DURO 2
4 GB memory
Any help in fixing this will be greatly appreciated.

Enable and then Disable “Removes Folder Options menu from Tools menu”
Close all windows explorer windows and then open again.. most probably your folder options is back

I have been trying to submit a warranty claim for my wireless mouse that stopped talking to it's dongle device.  The laser works fine, but the communication to the laptop has suddenly failed and I can't get it to work again.  The internet confirms the device is sill under warranty, but when I submited a claim I get a message back from HP (email) that I've submitted erroneously and they close the claim.  Also, I followed their directions on what to do next online and it sends me in the same circle to nowhere... Msinfo32 is queried by the OS from the hardware you cant change it from regedit. You might want to run an additional app (like everest) to see if you get consistent results.

If you do and they both are wrong maybe the guts of the computer have been changed and are different

Just about ready to take my new machine in & pay Geek Squad $100 to upgrade it from Win10 to Win7  (got new Home Premium disk & key, also downloaded 7 & made an ISO image in hopes of saving hours installing all the updates when I thought I was going to try & do this myself).  Two questions: This isn't a reversion from Win10 upgrade, it's a native Windows 10 machine. Is this likely to void my warranty? And will I still be able to use HP Support Assistant, or is it going to look at my system and say"OMG, this fool needs all new drivers" and then send me the Windows 10 drivers that it thinks belong on this machine?

Hi: This is a peer to peer forum, so we can only give you our unqualified opinions regarding warranty info. There used to be written info online regarding warranty information.  I can't seem to find anything relevant to your question anymore. Based on what I have read in the past, you will void the software warranty since you are installing an unsupported operating system. This means that if you have a problem with Windows or any of the programs installed on the PC, HP will ask you to reinstall W10 before proceeding to troubleshoot the PC under the warranty. Installing W7 should not void the hardware warranty. I don't use the HPSA myself, but it should not scan your PC and recommend W10 drivers.  The safe thing to do would be to have it notify you of any updates but not automatically install them. Don't leave it on autopilot (automatically download and install updates).

Hi, I purchased an Inspiron 1543 on Oct 27, 2015 from an authorized dell store at GIP Mall Noida and since then I have been strutggling with Dell Warranty team to update the warranty status under dell festive offers. They have updated only NBD warranty date to Oct 2018 sine I have purchased two years extended warranty, but all the other warranty dates are yet to be updated and they are not even replying my emails. The worst customer service I have ever seen. I will never recommend anytone to buy a dell product. I have provided everything they reqested already. I have purshased a lenovo y50 laptop on 19th March during my trip to USA then I returned Egypt back and discovered that the laptop is defected with dead area in the trackpad and a horrible display with very ugly yellow color.
 
I contacted Lenovo Egypt and they told me to go to service provider to get these issues fixed. The service provider said they will replace the trackpad but they see that the screen is normal and they have no solution for it.
 
Before I bougth it, I made sure that all waranty services can be done from Egypt but Lenovo Egypt refused to replace the laptop and the service provider refuses to fix the screen. It is really disappointing!!

When I search my business name on Google, it shows up. However, the website is incorrect. My business shows with a huge image on the right hand side of Google search, but the website is of another business. There is a Feedback button at the bottom of the advert where I can send Google feedback and recommend changes. I've done this so many times, but my request is still pending. It has been months. Is there a way for me to get my website on my business listing without having to suggest feedback to Google?

Hey all,

Since today, Firefox has been acting weird. It messes up the layout of some websites. Most important being Youtube, of which I've made a screenshot:



When I click a video, it can't play/load it, and says I have to enable Java Scripts (which I have) or download the newest Flash Player (Which I also have). I've tried reinstalling Firefox, to no avail. I have no idea what's wrong, and was hoping someone here could help!

Also may be important to add; I just got rid of the System Tools 2011 malware rogue.

Hi This is a rant plea for help from someone at Dell nbsp For the past months I ve been through the wringer with Dell s warranty service nbsp Short story for patience horrible service with Dell's Out warranty of those who don t want to read this entire tail of woe nbsp I ve been through LCD screens one motherboard replacement nbsp and now one entire system replacement - Out of patience with Dell's horrible warranty service and I still have a computer with issues because Dell keeps sending me JUNK and wrong parts - nbsp And to top it off my warranty is about to run out And now the long story My story begins almost a year ago when I purchased a new Inspiron nbsp I loved that laptop and things were great up until Feb of this year when the LCD screen developed an issue with burn-in image retention I contacted Dell tech support about this and the tech agreed that the screen needed replacing He said he d send out an on-site service tech with an LCD replacement kit and a motherboard nbsp I thought sending the motherboard was strange since the issue was clearly with the LCD screen nbsp So I asked why they d send a motherboard nbsp The tech said incase the replacement LCD doesn t fix it nbsp Strange This should have been a red flag but I just shrugged it off Jump forward a few days later and the on-site tech shows up nbsp He says he doesn t know how to replace the screen in this model laptop nbsp He said any time he s tried the clips in the bezel break nbsp He also said Dell should have sent the entire LCD assembly as there are no instructions to replace the LCD screen only nbsp He called up Dell s on-site tech support line to see if they could supply him with instructions and Dell instructed him TO REPLACE THE MOTHERBOARD for an issue with an LCD screen nbsp He didn t know what to make of it but did what they said and replaced a PERFECTLY GOOD motherboard which OF COURSE didn t fix anything nbsp So the tech says to ask them for the entire LCD assembly nbsp So I contact Dell and ask them for the specific part number which to their credit they send nbsp But of course there are still issues with the screen Dead pixels backlight bleed and the touch screen often has a mind of its own and causes the cursor to go crazy nbsp Also at this point I m noticing the laptop runs much warmer than before there s a loud quot coil whine quot and the touchpad now randomly stops sometimes nbsp So my perfectly good motherboard was replaced with a broken one Great By this time screen number had arrived nbsp But it was the wrong part nbsp It was the k UHD screen and I had the p version nbsp I am a software developer and I use Linux and a lot of Java software which does not scale properly on Hi-DPI screens So once again I had to contact Dell and tell them I can t use a k screen After sending the wrong part Dell said they d replace the entire system with a refurbished one nbsp Great Finally an end to this I hoped nbsp But nope Dell sends me an Inspiron quot gaming laptop quot with a k screen Even after I specifically told them I am unable to use a k screen nbsp However by this time I had well and truly had enough nbsp I just wanted to be done with the entire ordeal nbsp But as I am beginning to learn there is apparently no end to it because guess what the Inspiron has a few issues of its own nbsp The screen dims flickers when certain shades of blue enter the screen lots of owners are complaining about this it s an inherent flaw of the LG quot pentle quot screen used in these There are a few youtube videos that show this if you search nbsp I could have just changed the resolution to p and lived with the flicker but nbsp It OVERHEATS LIKE CRAZY and the fan never shuts off nbsp Even when idle nbsp Tonight nbsp as I was trying to use it the thermal protection kicked in and it actually turned itself off right when I was in the middle of working nbsp UNACCEPTABLE I ve been patient and courteous throughout all this nbsp But now I ve had enough I am not going ... A:Out of patience with Dell's horrible warranty service

Tough luck. I've also have had more hardware issues than I can count, including trackpad failures, fan issues, lights burnt out, etc... I just continuously had stuff break on my $1400 laptop for no reason. 
After months of dealing with this ***, I decided I just wanted Dell to buy the laptop back from me or give me store credit as that's really the only repayment for the amount of stress and issues this laptop has brought me. I was basically told by the highest level sales manager that I cannot return the laptop and I just have to go the Dell's support system. There is really nothing you can do except constantly call in service requests and once your warranty expires, like me, you are pretty much screwed.
That being said, I will never buy any Dell product again.

I have a HP ENVY m7-010dx that died last night.  Upon power up nothing happens except a continuous slow blinking light on the cap locks key.  I went through their online troubleshooting help section and it looks like it is a hardware issue and will be going in for warranty service.  The big problem I have is that the hard drive has lots of sensitive personal information on it that I believe a good tech could copy and fairly easily decipher.
 
So what can I do?  I have never removed an internal hard drive and accessed it as an external drive.  I really need to wipe all personal info before returning for warranty service.
 
Any ideas?

Since most of us don't have that much (IMO) personal info on a system...either of the above should do.  Simply copy the data to new media and then delete it from your hard drive before sending.

I wonder if in your country Lenovo guys ask you to wait 45 days for warranty works in service centre.In St.Petersburg, Russia I was asked to wait 45 days cuz spare parts are not available. I had sent my Y50-70 to Giat Solutions Service Center (Malaysia) to fix its screen. They found out that the part of the separator inside one of my USB port came out a little. But they decided it was CID (Customer Induced Damage). I recalled that the USB port was slightly tighter than the others when i first received it. I take a very good care of my laptop and i had not drop it once even after 1 year. The damage of the USB port looks nothing like those pictures Lenovo posted on their official website. I m very disappointed with the service since i paid a lot of money for that machine. If they cant fix the USB port for me, i can no longer trust the Lenovo Products. Please assist me.

I sent my Asus K52Je to the warranty service last month, for a HD issue.

When returned, the HD was strangely partitioned:



Now, the Disk 0 has:
- a first (hidden) and not recognized partition: a 336 GB (!) RECOVERY;
- C:\ is the 116 GB NTFS
- D:\ is the 13.6 GB NTFS.

Should I resize the RECOVERY partition without any problem??
And after that, could I extend the C:\ partition? (I don't want to lose my licence and prefer not to use the 9-DVD-recovery tool...)

A:resizing Recovery partition after a warranty service

You will under no circumstances lose your Win7 license as long as you have a genuine Win7 COA sticker on the machine. You can reinstall this in any way you wish and MS will protect you, which is why they put the Product Key on the COA sticker - you should back it up now in case it rubs off.

In fact most tech enthusiasts prefer to get rid of the bloatware by Clean Reinstalling Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything needed is in the blue link. Asus may not support a Clean Reinstall but they cannot void your hardware warranty. I would simply not tell them if I reinstall. You'll get better support here anyway.

With such incompetent partitioning I wonder if Recovery will even run. Can you cue it up to see? I would also make the Recovery disks now so you have a backup if you want the preinstalled Win7. Another backup is to save a Win7 backup image of your customized install: Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup. With these backups you may feel you can afford to delete the Recovery partition.

Either way you'll want to shrink it. I'd use Disk mgmt first to see how much it wants to shrink it. But you'll need to use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to safely Resize C to the left afterwards, which can also be used to shrink Recovery more if Disk Mgmt bumps into files in the way. You'll need to leave ample breathing room for Recovery to function. Partition Wizard Move/Resize Partition Video Help.

Personally I would rely on Recovery disks if i ever needed to fall back to factory condition to resell the unit. Otherwise I'd rely on a Win7 backup image of a factory install after I Clean Up Factory Bloatware, or for the very best performance I'd Clean Reinstall.

When I went to buy a laptop, I have not considered any other laptop as I thought Dell would be perfect for me. However, let me tell you, it's not. Within the period of 1 month, I started getting touch pad issues which is not resolved completely yet. This is not ended here. I bought this laptop (which was the worst decision I have ever made) in October 2014 and this Dell dashboard shows my warranty expiring in July 2015. I am emailing to them and nobody even bothers to give a reply. On phone support I have asked several times that I want to extend my warranty, however nobody helped me for that too. Is this your SO CALLED superior customer service and quality product? If yes then please stop selling Dell Inspiron 3542 model. Pathetic touch pad! LET ME KNOW HOW CAN I FILE A COMPLAINT as I cant take this harassment further.

Chances are that the water sat underneath the keyboard and flowed onto the motherboard where it dried causing corrosion and damaging the motherboard permanently. You could take the laptop to a repair shop and they could give you a repair estimate. Of course, you will have to pay for this repair. If a liquid is spilled on a laptop in the future, immediately open it and turn it upside down. This allows the liquid not to hit and pool on the motherboard, or in a keyboard

Hey guys, how's everyone doing? I am having an issue changing the OEM system information in Vista. I can add all the information about my company, but the logo is doing something odd.

I can fix the issue with the pixel resolution, that's pretty easy. It's flipping the colors. It's a blue and white logo (visit http://digitalsanityservices.com, it's on the top left), and it's making the blue part white, and the white part blue. I used Adobe Illustrator to flip the colors in the hope that it would then flip them back to the original. No go, it displayed it the same way. Windows 7 does the same thing, XP and below works fine.

Any thoughts?

I'd like to be able to find information about a given website -- owner name, country of the servers it's on, any known legal problems etc.; ie a quick rundown on whatever can easily be found out about a website. It seems to me there used to be a tool for that sort of thing -- a browser add-on I think.

Any suggestions for software here at MG or browser add-ons or other software that can provide this kind of info?

I run WinXP Pro SP2, and when I initiate the following sequence:
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Information
the Help and Support Center Window comes up.
This also happens with Start -> Run -> msinfo32
Huh?

Does anyone know how to correct this?

I was checking the manuals for this machine on line in preperation for upgrading the RAM and there are two differing listings of what memmory will work in this machine.  The tech. support manual says that a 2Gig DDR3 pc10600 1333Mhz cas latency 9 is the max size for the machine but the lilustrated parts service manual list a 4Gig pc10600 cas latency 9 modual theat is supposed to fit this machine.  I just need to know which one is right. Thank you in advance for any help that I det

Hello!

My help and support, and system information is not working anymore. When I click on those, nothing happens. There are no error messages, and simply nothing happens. I don't know when this error has occurred because I don't use those features often but it may have been a long back time since those problems occurred.I tried to look for it online but nothing has worked. My CD/RW is also not working even though windows recognizes it and it shows up in my computer. I wonder if they are all a related problem.

Any help would be great!

am running AVG free 9 and updated everyday

I m not sure when this problem occurred as these are services that I seldom use but I had reason to do so this morning and found I was unable to launch either service Yesterday I performed an upgrade re-installation of XP in an attempt to deal with some boot up and occasional BSOD issues I had been having that had eluded all other repair methods I had tried I did this in a last ditch attempt to cure the problems before committing to a laborious clean install I do not know if the loss of these services pre-dates the re-installation The boot up issues were resolved by the re-installation I have had BSOD crashes since the re-installation though whilst I was trying to solve the problem I have searched for solutions to this problem and have so far replaced my index file in C WINDOWS PCHEALTH HELPCTR OFFLINECACHE performed a complete rebuild of help center run Windows File Protection to verify and replace protected files None of these have solved the issue As an aside - I doubt this is relevant - I have also been suffering from an unusual issue with the volume being constantly zeroed not muted - the slider is set to zero every time that I reboot This requires me to reset the system volume to desired levels every time of Information Support Solved: and Loss Help System & I reboot and is frustrating but hardly life changing I have looked through all options on my sound card and in Windows Sound and Audio Devices and can t find a reason as to why this would happen I don t think the issue is malware related I run Avast Professional Adaware SE Spybot S amp D Spyware Blaster Preempt Look n Stop Firewall Any suggestions much appreciated Whilst I await answers I m going to go through a selective boot procedure and see if I can get Solved: Loss of Help & Support and System Information the services to work in safe mode Thanks nbsp

I have solved the issue. Shortly after I posted this (using Firefox) I realised that IE7 was also not launching. I uninstalled IE7, then re-installed IE8. This seems to have cured the Help Center issues. All that for a piece of software I almost never use and would rather wasn't on my system!

I still have the irritating volume issue, so I'll re-post that as a separate problem and mark this thread solved. Thanks for reading!

By just visiting a phising website, they cannot obtain data you don't fill out unless they infect your computer with malware -- usually a trojan horse and/or rootkit would serve this purpose.

If a malicious or phishing website emails you and you click anything on the email, it's possible it could do just about anything from actually unsubscribing you to infecting your computer. All depends on what the person who created the email intended for it to do.

This is why it's so important to know who you're receiving email from and to know that they are actually who they say they are.

My work computer (Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8) will not allow us to click and get a cursor, or type in the search fields, log in fields, anything that you would input text of any kind. We can't log in to email, use yahoo search or google, or any search engine. We can access any website main page, and anything on that page that requires just clicking a link. We can type in other programs, just not in Internet Explorer on websites. We can type in the address bar of Internet Explorer. We have tried rebooting, we have an antivirus software that runs a quick scan every time we reboot the computer, and it did not show a virus when we rebooted it. We are completely lost as to what the problem is, or how to fix it. Any ideas?

When I go to System Information in my Accessories>System tools folder, then when I open System Information, I get the Help and Support Center. So it's like the System Information Program was replaced by the Help and Support Center program. Why?

This never occured before.

Normally i have used Tune Up utillities for this but i want to be able to do this manually on systems i build.
