Hi, my warranty ran out last month and whilst I get they only last so long in England we are also covered byt something needing to be fit for purpose. My power supply doesn't seem to be putting power into my laptop anymore and I've tried different outlets and checked the fuse so something is definately wrong somewhere. I believe that there is no doubt that this item should have operated for longer than the 13-14 months I've had it as having tablets I've probably only used the laptop half a dozen times to date. I however just get a message that the numbers I'm putting in for serial numbers and the like aren't recognised so I can't get to talk to anyone about my options which I think is pretty crappy service on HP's part. Can anyone steer me to where I can talk to someone even if it's just an chat window or something?

have just started using Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007. I have created some business contacts and linked emails with these contacts. The Communication History folder shows all the emails linked to these contacts. However, when I open the contact's business card and click the History button on the Show area of the ribbon to view the associated emails nothing happens.

The button depresses, but the window never changes and the General button immediately goes back to being depressed again instead of History.

Any ideas why this could be? This is one of the major functions that I would like to use!!

I seem to be unable to delete an unwanted contact from the list of offerings in "To:" section when starting an eMail.  (I have tried others with same result.)
"Help" section says I should highlight the unwanted, then click to "X" on right of name.
I do this, Yahoo Mail responds "Succesful Permanent Deletion", but the contact remains and is offered again in next email attempt.
I use Currently Update Firefox.  I have "deleted history" (Cleared Cache).
Guidance please ?

Spam contact added to Gmail can't be removedI know how to remove contacts from the list. Suddenly 5 have been added under the "people" category all with the name Davey, or Dave.... The "delete" command has been greyed out for these.They do not show up on the normal list but were discovered when searching for a similar name in the search box which then includes them along with the proper list. Hi everyone I'm new here, my problem is that I have a contact on skype but everytime i try sendin an IM i'm seein this grey circling notification stating that the message haven't went through. I can see when they come on and offline but I can IM or Call. Is this a problem from my account cause i can chat with others just fine. Also someone did a scan on my computer and told me i have some viruses that may cause it to crash soon and that is why the skype problem is happening can this be verified? As the title suggests - my invoice specifically says 3yrs warranty was purchased with my M3800 in November 2014. I'm now showing as out of warranty after 2yrs

I've sync'd my google contacts with the people contacts in 8.1. On initial setup everything transferred ok. To test the link I then added a new contact in google to see if it would sync with the people contacts. So far it hasn't. How often does the people app update with google?

Finding the same problem here, made some changes to Google contacts and still hasn't been captured by the People app days later although it says it syncs each time I've opened it.

To be honest, what I thought would be a very useful app when I first heard about it has become nearly unused by me because of things like this or the inability to add a birthday directly in the app to a contact. Just feels half done and forgotten by MS at this point.

Hello. For all you Outlook gurus out there: is there a way to copy information from a non-business contact to a new contact?

For example, I create an personal individual (i.e. - non-business) contact with home address, home phone, etc. I save that contact. A week later I want to add a contact for that individual's spouse where everything is the same - home address, home phone - except for the spouse's cell phone number.

For business contacts I would use the "Save as Same Company" feature, but this does not work for non-business folks because they do not have the Business address populated (or should I say, it didn't work for me).

Any ideas that would make this a simple task?

Create a contact from another contact

You can create a new contact (contact: Person, inside or outside of your organization, about whom you can save several types of information, such as street and e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and Web page URLs.) from an existing contact by using the existing contact as a template, and then changing any of the information, as necessary.
In Contacts, in Business Cards view, click the contact that you want to use as a template.
Note You can also complete this procedure in the Address Cards and Detailed Address Cards views.
Press CTRL+C, and then press CTRL+V.
In the Duplicate Contact Detected box, select the Add new contact option.
When you save a contact or an Electronic Business Card (Electronic Business Card: A view of specific information about a contact, in a format similar to a paper-based business card, that can be inserted into messages.) with the same name or e-mail name as one that already exists in your Contacts folder, Microsoft Outlook displays a dialog box with options to either add the duplicate contact as a new contact or update the existing contact with the new information from the duplicate contact. To find out more, see Resolve or delete duplicate contacts.
Click Add.
The new contact will appear in Business Cards view next to the contact you copied.
Double-click the new contact to open it, and then edit the information, as needed.
Click Save and Close.

If the battery is original to the system, it's between 4 and 5 years old - and likely well past its design life.  A "refurbished" system of that model is not the same as a "refurbished" new system - was it purchased direct from Dell, or elsewhere?

So, my HP Envy x360 has a screen problem that I described in an earlier post, but the situation that I am in currently is that around February, I contacted HP to get a box to send my laptop back and get it repaired in. Help please. HP Support Assistant changed overnight and now shows Warranty Expired and date Dec 2015 when I bought the PC. Expiry date should be 3 December 2016.Have sent HP Warranty Dispute form and evidence of purchase (twice). No response. Have used Assistant Agent twice and was very pleased with excellent service. Because warranty is out of date, according to HP, contact with them is limited and try as I can I have been unable to get a phone call through to customer service (its always busy!). I have even contacted HP  Head Office who gave me the same phone number and a complaints e- mail address which turned out to be in South America! Message on HP Support Assistant  received today asks me to continue  warranty by paying for 2 year cover. Have paid for this today and hope this will sort situation. I purchased a Dell Inspiron 17 7778 laptop last week. But the service warranty information is incorrect on Dell support web page. The ship date is January 01, 0001, the country is unknown and the warranty service is missing. Please fix it.


If this is the same system you asked about in your other threads, it was purchased outside Dell's sales channel in a country where Dell has no corporate presence --  all service, support and information comes from your seller.  
From the sound of it, the system either has a bogus service tag or was purchased as greymarket goods.

System is a dell studio xps 435mt/ os 7 premium/ I7 CPU/ 8 gigs of ram/ ati video card just replaced 3 months ago/ hitachi deskstar 500g hd/power supply delta 360w.

Had no error messages. Was running fine, it had a few glitches but nothing serious. I attempted to power up the system but nothing , it has power the green light is on for the power supply.. I get one amber light when i press the power button on front panel, and one flicker of the red light on the video card.

This system is only 2 years old. The warranty expired on it's second birthday, which was the day after the warranty ran out.

contact who you purchased it from and see what they can do. they should have records of the transaction. if you purchased it with a charge card you could contact them also for any record of the purchase.

Hi! I have a quick question, my laptop came with a mechanical hard disk which i would like to replace with a solid state.The problem is that there is a sticker saying "Warranty void if label tampered with or removed" covering one of the screws. The end date of warranty is until Jul 2017. What i should do? Why HP is doing this really? I never owned a laptop which was impossible to upgrade the ram or the hdd...

Hi I bought a display unit of AiO at the Singapore COMEX 2016 1 week ago. Warranty is 1 year from first retail sale. Either the seller sold you a laptop previously sold or it sat on his shelf for a long time. Keep the receipt as you may need it to prove when you bought it. The date in the HP system is automatically generated based on wholesale delivery plus an average shelf time.

Hello, my company has resold nearly 100 Acer laptops in the last year. All have worked great except one. It will not charge a battery. We have verified this by swapping batteries from identical units.
The real issue is that we cannot get this unit replaced. It was purchased from Newegg Business and when calling the support number and entering the SNID [edited for privacy]the automated system says it's out of warranty and sends us to the 3rd party.
So then we communicate with Newegg who says Acer has verified the warranty and for us to call back. This has been going on for over 7 months! Meaning in less than 5 months the real warranty will expire though this thing has never been used.
Please help!

Thanks, we tried that many times. The Newegg rep just found that by using the chat support and entering the full Serial Number it finally worked. The phone support nor chat would accept the SNID. So this was the root of the  problem.

Your warranty is one year from retail purchase. HP puts in a placeholder date based on when the laptop was made but sometimes they sit on the shelf for a while. If you actually have a warranty problem it will be 1 year from purchase. Keep your proof of purchase documents and register your laptop with HP.

When I check for the warranty status of my laptop, I am told that the country is unknown, the ship date is January 01, 0001, and  start and end date are empty. See screenshot below.

Hi buddies,                        I'm planning to upgrade my loptop RAM. the main reason to go for different brand RAM is to save some money.  come to the point, Probook 450 G3(T9R71PA#ACJ) model comes with 4GB RAM (DDR3L-16001.35V SODIMM). is adding different brand(simmtronics ) RAM with same specifications works or not?  if it works, does it cause to lose laptop warranty? i would appreciate it if you could provide response as early as possible..

Hi All  I was wondering if anyone happened to know the difference between a caseID that is being coverered by warranty and a case not being covered by warranty.  I was told a few years ago if the case starts with 4** it is a warranty job if it starts with 5** it's not covered by warranty. I'm not too sure about the numbers though,  thanks all

Hi All nbsp I purchased a Lenovo Warranty G40 Lenovo G - Laptop last year which is under warranty till th July It was purchased in India however I have since relocated to Dubai UAE I would like to know if the warranty for this laptop is valid internationally nbsp I recently faced a problem where Lenovo G40 Warranty the laptop would Lenovo G40 Warranty turn off arbitarily during use and on one instance it refused to come back on again nbsp I referred it to the local Lenovo Service Centre Lenovo G40 Warranty Dubai UAE and was told that the motherboard is to be replaced nbsp They took nbsp the laptop and invoice and kept it for over days and have now reverted saying that they are unable to obtain the required part They claim that this model is not available in the UAE and hence cannot be serviced here However a quick search of the Lenovo UAE website reveals that the model is very much available in this country nbsp Lenovo G nbsp Will appreciate if someone from Lenovo can clarify on this Happy to share additional details if required nbsp nbsp nbsp

Hi guys as lenovo y50 user i got some problems with overheatin, temperature i think are the same for all about 77/78°, i already got a cooling pad and it's help me but it keep the temperature 1 or 2 degree less, the problem is the dust inside fan so i think i will open it. The question is if i open the back of my pc warranty will void?PS->  i already used  the cleaning dust tool and seems quite useless if u need to clean the mess, i think it just help hold the fan clean.

I am really unhappy with hp warranty services i have recently bought a hp pavillion notebook due to some reason my windows got corrupted and now service center is asking me to order a recovery disk py paying money even though it is not a hardware issueI have to pay extra 1000 rs bucks to order the recovery disc even though my laptop is underwarranty . My lenovo idea pad - ibd ran into a problem while I was on it not allowing me to do anything So I turned the laptop off and tried to turn it back on When I did this it went into an auto repair trying to fix disc errors I let this run for more then hours before finally stopping it and turning the laptop off When I did this anytime I tried to turn the laptop on it would just sit on the Lenovo splash art and I couldn't bring up a console with f nbsp At this point I started looking up support on the forums and found something about cutting all power and removing the battery To do this with my Ideapad I had to take it apart warranty? Voided some I DID break a lenovo sticker that was hiding a screw I assume that is how they would know if it had been opened Cutting the power didn't work so instead I took it to a nearby compute repair store They told me it would likely cost more then half the laptops worth to fix because it needed a new hard drive and to be completely reset nbsp So I'm really just trying to see if the one year warranty that IS still active according to your website had been fully voided And if I'm just going to have to suck it up and drop the benjis nbsp Or if there is a chance that I could still have it fixed through its warranty Any help is appreciated nbsp

Sorry i didnt know where else to put this in lol Ok so im Warranty Computer on the pay weekly thing with the computer i have which is a Scaleo P Computer Warranty Fujitsu Siemens and i have been on the for years now and still currently on it until August this year Now when i want the computer serviced i get it free because im on a plan now im currently collecting info and prices of components for this computer to upgrade it but because im still on the plan and the Computer Warranty computer is years old not to mention it keeps restarting without warning and the computer and its components are out-dated can i have them upgrade it my computer for free cause im not really sure such as new graphics card processor RAM and PSU This was what i was planning to do myself but if i can get it done for free that would be great I know im on the plan but i dont Computer Warranty know if i can upgrade it for free as im paying for a year old computer that isnt worth what im going to pay for it in the end and would like up to date components Thanks in advance

I doubt very seriously they will up date it for free, but you have to read the contract to be sure.

It is getting old, in computer years, but a lot of it depends on what you use it for.

Also plan on replacing the hard drive down the road. Hard drives will die after a period of time.

The restarting could be as simple problem as it is dirty/dusty inside, i.e.heat!

Hi I'm having problems looking up warranty information for an HP Monitor I purchased at Tigerdirect (P.S. They no longer accept returns for anything per there policy change so this will likely be the last thing I buy from them). Anyway When attempting to lookup the Serial Number and Product Number it says it isnt found...I'm not sure what is going on. Someone I know purchased an identical monitor and is having issues and needs to turn there monitor in for warranty and is having the same problems I have.

I think I found it. I was about to login to the Chat Support Site and somehow it grabbed the warranty info (not sure how... Technically opening the back of the laptop can void the warranty since there are no consumer replaceable parts (CRUs) inside your model.  Fortunately most Lenovo Service Centers understand that owners will upgrade the memory and change hard drives so they tend to over look the fact that the laptop has been previously opened.  If you use care in opening the laptop and center your activities on just replacing the hard drive I don't think you will have a problem, but keep in mind the Service Center makes that final determination.   Also keep in mind if the system ever needs to be sent in the warranty won't cover the new SSD drive.  That warranty is provided by the SSD drive's manufacturer. 
For your reference I have included a link below to your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual that explain how to remove the exisiting hardware.  Please follow any advice or pre-cautions the manual has to offer.

Howdy, Is it possible to get HP to fix a broken laptop (spillage has broken the keyboard) out of the laptops warranty? Failing that, are there any repair shops licensed/recommended by HP in the UK? Thanks

Is the damage confined to the keyboard? That is not expensive or difficult and just about any computer shop should be able to handle it and it is even possible in many cases to do it yourself.  Please let us know if you want to try replacement. If not the best way to go about it is to procure the part and take it and the laptop to a local shop.  Where are you located in the UK? See pages 74-77 of the Manual here: Service Manual The video is also useful. Removal of the keyboard part stops at about 7:50.  Post back with any more questions.

Been trying to register my product but it keeps coming up with the wrong product. I put my S/N and Type number in and it says it's invalid but they're both right. It also says that the S/N is for a Smartphone not a G500 Lenovo laptop. Someone please help!

I'm having issues doing a clean install on this PC. It seems it comes with Windows 8 installed and another tech downgraded it to windows 7. I was then told to do a clean install on it and pulled the cd key with a program and installed Windows 7 Pro with a ISO I have. Now it won't activate the key saying it is invalid. I have the CDs coming from HP that I guess might help but I need this PC working today really. Is the key it pulled really a windows 8 key and just said 7 since that what was installed when I used the program to pull it? What are my options to get an active key?

Because the computer came pre-installed with Windows 8 the key is embedded in firmware. You can download the media creation tool here. You will need to download it using a Windows 7 or 8 computer.
Follow the clean install steps here. If you need data off the drive you can pull it using a live linux disk like FatDog64 or Hirens CD. You may need to disable SecureBoot in BIOS but I believe it has already been disabled if you are booting Windows 7. When you get to the Window asking for the Windows 8.1 key do not input anything and click Next. Windows 8.1 will self activate when online. 
If you cannot click next then use one of these generic keys depending on what version of 8 was on the computer.

My 15" Acer Chromebook CB5-571 just died a couple of weeks past the warranty deadline. It was wonky when I first got it from the Play Store but the updates seemed to help. Now it just died and won't start. Where can we go for recompense on these defective machines? I'm not willing to shell out around 1/3 of the purchase price for a battery when I'm not sure that's the issue. Google Play is nice, but not when the machines they're selling are crap and nobody can own up to the issues.

Hi,     My Desktop has 4 GB ram and 2 GB Graphics Card. But the RAM is not sufficient for me. I want to upgrade the RAM. I have checked and the Motherboard has 2 RAM slots. There is one 4GB 1600MHz RAM stick in it. I want to add a 8 GB 1600MHZ RAM stick, so that  there will be 12GB in total. The System is in WARRANTY.  So should i buy a RAM stick and insert it by myself or go for the Service Centre for upgrade ?  If i  want to upgrade the RAM by myself, i have to break the Warranty seal on the side.
