Get a load of this. I rebooted my computer this evening, got a message that one app was still running that was keeping it from rebooting. Reboot anyway? Indeed and only to get an exciting blue screen with three options. One was F8 which did nothing and the Escape which puts me into the BIOS.
When I go into Advance, I see a SATA Mode Selection. Hitting the Enter button, I see AHC1 is presently highlighted. There are two other options, one being IDE and the other RAID. Should I select one of those or do you feel my SSD has totally gone to pieces?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
The SATA mode selection should be set to AHCI, unless you have more then one SSD or HDD in a RAID Array then you would choose RAID. IDE is for the older IDE HDD's and running older OS's like XP.
In the Bios, on the Main screen it should list your Drives by manufacturer on your computer. Is your SSD showing in the Bios? If not, the drive may have become unplugged. Check the SATA data cable is plugged in tightly to the SSD and to the motherboard SATA port 1. And the power plug from the PSU is still plugged in tight to the back of the SSD. Make sure the SATA port is Enabled in the Bios. Try a different Data cable, try a different Power Plug from the PSU, try a different SATA port on the motherboard.
You also can remove the SSD and attach it to a USB Adapter, Dock or Enclosure with a power adapter. To see if it is recognized on another computer.
Samsung has announced that their latest 32-inch Ultra HD monitor, the U32E850R with support for AMD's FreeSync technology, is now available in the United States with a rather hefty price tag of $1,199.
With those prices of decent sized monitors and capable GPUs, We are years from 4K being more of a gimmick for the few rich. I just wait for QWHD to go down to earth prices. They're stuck at 350? for like two years now?
Samsung has announced a new pair of monitors today that both feature Qi wireless charging in their stands, allowing you to easily charge your Qi-compatible smartphone on your desk without the clutter of a separate charging plate.
Yeah...that's awesome. That's actually where I place my phone anyway
Hi Could anyone please confirm if I buy Samsung 850 Evo 500GB, will I be able to install this on my desktop? Just looks like it only fits for laptops?
There are adapters available if the drive doesn't come with them packaged. The adapters adapt from 3.5" drive bay to 2.5" drive bay.
If you have one drive bay and have been pining for faster local storage, Samsung's latest announcement is for you. They've just added 2TB solid-state drives to its 850 Pro SSD and 850 Evo families.
The street price will need to moderate a little, but this is still good news.
Basically I think it s Laptop Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 Problems; been happening for a month now My laptop screen glitches - the images distorting and sometimes green text appearing - Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 before Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 righting itself and crashing The only way I can get the Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 laptop to function again is to turn it off via the power button or take the battery out and put it back it again It has also become slow starting up - taking at least five minutes before you can log in and then a further five before you can actually do anything The cursor sometimes gets stuck in the center of the screen - I can access things using the tab screen but the cursor won t move whether I use the laptop touchpad or my USB mouse The fan has also been sporadically speeding up before calming down again - even though I ve been doing the same thing for the past god knows when I ve done a boot-up scan using avast had a look through all of my files and gotten rid of any old files that I don t need on there in an attempt to create some space but I ve got about - gb free so I can t see why that should be a problem Nothing happens before the glitches crashes so I don t think I m causing it by moving it and so on About a month ago the charger port was fixed at a laptop repair shop and then the laptop itself was sent off to SAMSUNG to have the motherboard replaced because I mistakenly wiped the bios since one driver update shut the laptop off in the middle of the bios update so I don t know if something is loose and so on I m planning on selling it in a month or two so it s not that much of a problem but of course I don t want to sell it to someone if its being a pain in the backside I also switched from integrated graphics to a nvidia geforce graphics card that is in the laptop when I bought it so that might be why Basic Info Samsung Ultrabook Series Intel Core i GB Ram TB Hardrive bit Operating System NVIDIA Geforce GT M nbsp
This sort of problem is tough to troubleshoot over the internet. It could be quite a few things that could cause the symptoms that you're experiencing. With that said, I'd probably start with updating the discrete GPU drivers. Since you did switch from integrated to discrete, this could be the main cause for the graphic glitches which is probably crashing the system.
Moving forward, I think you should download something like CPU-Z to monitor the CPU load and temperatures during the crashes. It could be that your CPU is overheating and could use some attention.
The Samsung 840 EVO has been one of the most troubled solid state drives since its mid 2013 launch. Last year, users discovered that the drive suffers from performance degredation in the long run, with read speeds dropping off dramatically...
I have bought several 840 drives myself, and our newest machines at work have 120GB 840 Evos. After installing Magician 4.6, I was presented with the option to upgrade to the EXT0DB6Q firmware. I then disabled rapid mode, and ran the benchmark testing(with rapid mode enabled, you're basically measuring your RAM). I saw about a 200 MB/s increase compared to my lowest score for Sequential Write, and more modest gains elsewhere. Note that with Magician 4.6, Standard performance optimization is not supported on Windows 8 or higher. However, a new "advanced" option is available, that performs a complete rewrite, refreshing data and alleviating access delays. It took about 10 minutes to complete on my system with about 60 GB used. I'll be doing more testing, and anxiously awaiting a Mac compatible ISO, as Magician is not available for OS X.
Some Samsung 840 EVO SSD owners noticed their drives were slowing down last year, specifically the read speeds. Samsung issued a patch to fix the problem in October but it was only a temporary solution as slowdowns returned a few...
But where is the 4.6 version of software for us 840 EVO owners?
The Samsung rv510 laptop I have has a rubber plug blocking the HDMI port.
I assume it's because they use the "Case/Shell" for multiple models and this one does not come with it.
My questions:.... Are these built into the mobo or is there a Video card I could replace inside?
I'm assuming it's onboard in which case I will need to get a VGA+3.5mm audio to HDMI adapter in order to make this work?
Samsung has started mass producing what's being called the industry's first ePoP, or embedded package on package. By combining two key smartphone elements into a single package, Samsung's solution promises to offer high-end handset makers up to 40 percent more space.
It's the natural progression of tech right now.

I have a Samsung monitor, model 460FP-3. It has been working properly by HDMI but I plugged a device by VGA, then I went back to HDMI source and it didn't work. Now the monitor seems to be blocked in some way that I can't run it by HDMI. Could you help me? I've tried resetting to factory settings.
In August I purchased one of the new Samsung Series laptops with Windows -bit I love the laptop However due to eyesight problems I need to connect it to an external monitor I talked to Samsung BEFORE I bought the laptop and asked if they had a docking station for it They said they did not but that I would be able to connect it to a VGA monitor When I received the laptop I noticed that it did not have a VGA connection only a micro-HDMI connection I again called Samsung debacle external monitor Samsung They told me no problem just buy a VGA to micro-HDMI adapter They told me I could find one at any electronics store I was in Phoenix at the time and could not find it at any electronics store But I found a VGA-USB adapter I tried it and found that it worked except for when I was trying my email or browsers Then it just did not work I decided to buy Samsung external monitor debacle a new monitor and figured I would buy a Samsung monitor because it obviously Would have no problems connecting to a Samsung laptop I found a good monitor the Series S A H Before buying it I called Samsung and asked them if it would work They assured me it would connect to my laptop So I bought the monitor and had it shipped to me overseas When it arrived it only had VGA and HDMI connections I called Samsung again and they told me they had a VGA to micro-HDMI adapter They would not ship it to me overseas but would ship it to a friend in Hawaii who would then re-ship it to me After weeks it arrived However it was not a VGA to micro-HDMI adapter but the charger for my laptop I called back to Samsung and then told me to order it from Samsung parts I contacted Samsung parts and they said they did not have such an adapter and just to get it at any electronics store same story I still could not find such an adapter so I ordered an HDMI to micro-HDMI adapter When that finally arrived I was able to connect Nothing but problems I got no picture on my external monitor unless I unplugged the monitor each time and plugged it back in When I finally got a picture I noticed that it had about a inch border all the way around it thereby making it only a little larger than my laptop picture I called Samsung again and they said something like because of the HDMI to micro-HDMI adapter I could not get the proper resolution on my external monitor This is driving me CRAZY I have spent over on long-distance international calls to Samsung they won t call me because I am out of the US but I must call them and get a call center which is usually out of the US Why would Samsung make a laptop that is impossible to connect to an external monitor Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can properly connect my laptop to this monitor Thank you nbsp
edit: okay, now I read it properly.
Your Monitor may not be scaling the resolution to match it's maximum output. Try setting the monitor to be the only active display (as in output to external monitor only) and adjusting the resolution in windows to match the maximum resolution your monitor will allow. If that works, you at least have a starting point.
Also, are they referring to the Samsung AA-AH1NAMB/US Micro HDMI to VGA Adapter??? I'd suggest trying to find an e-tailer that will ship to your location, rather than dealing with Samsung directly anymore, since it REALLY seems to be costing you unnecessary time and money.
I am a beginner of hardware. I find two series of SSD to compare, 840 EVO and M500, because the specifications and the prices of them are approximate.
Both of them use SATA 3, so you need to compare with the read speed and the write speed, if you prefer faster one. The sequential read speed of 840 is 540MB/s, and the sequential write speed is 410MB/s. M500 is slower, but the performance of M500 is great as well, its Shock-resistant design makes it more durable than 840. The most important thing of SSD is the controller, 840 uses 3-core Samsung MDX controller, M500 uses Marvell?s latest controller, maybe the second one is better.
This is my poor review, how to compare them with more details, give me your advice.
Read in-depth reviews such as this:
I have a tab 2..I want to be able to watch films and tv etc from my tablet onto my tv, I have a hdmi cable but I need an adapter which I am having trouble nfinding, as reviews say it doesnt work on a tab 2
I made a boo boo. I purchased a new Samsung 840 EVO SSD to replace the mechanical drive in my Windows laptop I just found out that I apparently have the older style eSATA drive and the new drive does not have power connection.
I also have a Apple MacBook 2008 all aluminum model which has a mechanical drive. Does anyone know if the 840 EVO drive might possibly work in it?
Thanks for any info.
Hey so I bought a new SSD since my T13 has an empty HDD slot and to my surprise it doesn't even fit.....
I bought the laptop with an SSD already installed, is there any way to have 2 SSD's installed for this laptop?
If so, would I have to get an adapter?
The SSD I bought is 7mm and 2.5", I thought it would have been compatible......
Anywho any solutions/help would be greatly appreciated..... I tried googling this problem but have not found any solutions.
Most laptops don't have 2 drive bays. What are you looking to do with the 2nd SSD? RAID it?
So over the last few days my Samsung laptop has been putting itself into standby mode without any Samsung warning standby into going mode without Laptop warning And I for the life of me cannot figure out why All options to turn off the computer have been set to Samsung Laptop going into standby mode without warning never while it s plugged in so it s not that I suspected it was the laptop overheating for awhile but I ve got SpeedFan running and with the latest shut down the core temperatures were only around degrees Celsius I ve seen it run up to degrees when I really pushed it to investigate how hot it got and that didn t prompt any response at all except Samsung Laptop going into standby mode without warning for the fan speeding up and the laptop cooled down pretty fast when I let up on what I was doing Is there any other reason the laptop would shut down like this I m not the most computer smart in the world when it comes to the internal workings so any help would be appreciated Potentially relevant things Samsung laptop NP V C Radeon graphics card Intel core i Windows OS nbsp

Greetings I have a problem with my LED monitor and I m not sure where should this be posted either as hardware or software so I put it here The thing goes as follow I bought a samsung syncmaster SA LED monitor for my pc about a year and a half ago and so is now out of guarantee I havent had problems with it previously but recently vertical SA300 LED Flashing monitor samsung lines on flashing white stripes have started appearing on the display particularly when the monitor is showing black or dark colors and when I Flashing vertical lines on samsung LED monitor SA300 just turned it on Also it s been getting Flashing vertical lines on samsung LED monitor SA300 worse as time passes first it would only happen on first few seconds after turning it on but now it happens whenever dark colors are abundant on the screen wich makes me think this could be my monitor telling me it s about to die I would really apreciate if you could help me sort this out and if this is in fact a hardware issue if repairing is viable possible and it won t cost me more than half of the monitor original cost or if I should start saving for a new one crap I do recall having read on some tech magazine that LED monitors are more quot repairable quot than CRT and LCD ones so I can only hope it s not something bad Thank you very much in advance for whatever time and help you can provide me for my problem nbsp

I have a Series 9 laptop, an external Samsung Monitor 2494 LW & Samsung HDMI to VGA adapter. It was working , laptop now doesn't recognize the monitor - do the $40 adapters fail?
I am having a 650GB Samsung Hard Disk. Once I was transferring files from the hard disk to my PC and lights went out. Now when I connect my hard disk it is not being detected though it shows up in the Disk Management menu. I have tried formatting the HDD but it shows time remaining as 300 hours so I had to stop it midway. Is any other solution available for it...??? Please help...!!!
If you feel confident enough, Open it up and remove the hard drive from inside the enclosure and fit it directly in to your pc.
This will help determine if the hard drive or enclosure is to blame.
Hi, I have run chkdsk couple times and keep getting about 4 bad sectors. With bad sectors I cannot backup my image on any backup program even windows. It will fail about half way through it. Does anyone know of a program that will bypass the bad sectors and back it up. Thanks. I am open for any solutions here.
I need to know if the HDMI motherboard in a 60" Samsung Plasma TV can be used in a Sony Bravia 52" TV. The motherboard in my Sony died and I have access to one in a Samsung Plasma that's screen cracked.
No, it would not be, in the past I had to repair a tv for a friend that had his board shorted that was an LCD Sony Bravia 52 Inch and its board was very specific as with all Sony Products. The Boards on the TV's are the hearts and the companies that built them don't allow for parts to be interchanged easily. Your best bet is ebay and finding the part number to find a board, that's how I got the one I used to fix it.
I need your help. These two smartphones cost almost the same in my country, but I'm not sure which one should I buy. HTC has a better UI, but Samsung's specs are more powerful, especially the camera (even though they both have 5MP). On the other hand, I'm not sure what to think of Samsung's screen with weird contrast.
Which one would you buy? Thanks so much in advance.
Well I can only speak for the S3 Mini because that's what I bought a few week back. Personally I love it, think it's great. Not sure what to make of your "weird contrast" comment, haven't found any of that myself.
I'd be pretty confident you wouldn't be unhappy with the S3 Mini

What Manufacturer and Model is the HDD? Also, on Windows 7, I believe the max partition size a computer can recognize is 1TB, so a suggestions is using Disk Management, seperate it into separate partitions of 750 gb or so, then just link them in a RAID configuration. This will allow Windows 7 to recognize it as a single drive, but will also allowed you to use the full 3TB of space.
Hi all, does anyone know where to find Samsung Preston themes? Please help. Thanks!
Will this work?
I have ASUS M3A78-EM motherboard and AMD Phenom x4
with onboard ATI Raideon HD 3200 Graphic,
suddenly after i reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate v6.1 (build 7601: Service Pack 1)
1440*900 high resolution.I also know that it must have that much max resolution, thats why i bought this monitor. But the problem is that in desktop->setting.There is not any 1440*900 resolution to select.
First there was resolutions 1440*900 resolution to select but now i don't see that option and all the resolution given doesn't fits the monitor
So can anyone tell me whats going on? I search the net for this problem but has no luck and i ended-up here http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic111502.html
the person in the above given link found the solution for intel based, but i had no luck finding it for mine,
Please help me to solve this issue.
I'm not super familiar with ATI graphics settings, but I had a similar issue with my nVidia 560TI, my monitor was 1080 x 1920 capable, but I could not select the resolution. In my nVidia graphics settings (in the control panel) i had to change the aspect ratio. For some reason it was set to something like 4:3, after changing the aspect ratio to 16:9 I was allowed the 1080 x 1920 reslotion.
Check in your ATI settings (Catalyst Control Center) for the settings to either change the aspect ratio, play around with the settings a bit and see what happens.

Since it is unlikely that your notebook/laptop has a floppy drive you will have difficulty installing XP on a SATA drive because of the lack of native SATA drivers supplied with the XP installation disk. No supplied drivers, no recognition of the SATA hard drive. During early Setup you are given the opportunity to hit the F6 key to install third party drivers (I.e. SATA/RAID drivers) but XP only recognizes a floppy drive for this process. These SATA drivers would have to come from the laptop's driver support page at their website.
An alternative is to make a slipstream disk which combines your regular XP CD with the appropriate SATA/RAID drivers to allow recognition of your SATA hard drive by Windows Setup. Perform an internet search for the procedure to make such a disk.
Another alternative is to enter the BIOS and set the controller mode to IDE instead of SATA, that is if your laptop BIOS has that option. Many or most modern desktops do but I don't know about laptops. When set to IDE mode, XP doesn't need SATA drivers to continue the installation.
So yea thats the drive I have on my computer, had it for about 9-10 months. Woke up this morning to play a game in my disc drive to have my computer say, "Hey enter the disc". Open the drive and the disc is in there, so I closed it and still nothing.
Looked on my computer and it shows now Blu-ray Drive under my HDD
Look in my device manager and nothing shows up there as well.
Downloaded the drivers from here only to be told there is no drive detected.
I checked all my connections tried them in different ports on the mobo. I tried different cables still nothing. There is power to the drive because I can open and close it and I hear it reading the disc it just wont send the info to my mobo.
Any advice here would be great.
If you disconnect the Samsung, will the My Computer return to normal? It is common for these drives to fail sooner than conventional optical drives

Alright, so I'm currently tied between the Samsung 830 512 GB and the Crucial M4 512 GB SSD's, and after lots of review reading and internet research I came to the conclusion that the 830 is overall the better drive. The Crucial M4 however is available for me for ~520$ while the 830 goes for ~650$
Now if it was only for the speed difference I'd certainly go with the M4 but seeing as it is a rather old model and the 830 is considered to be the more reliable of the two I just can't make up my mind if it's really worth the price difference. Any help?
I should also tell you specifically that I also want to look at how the drive would stand in say 4 years because that's about the minimum I want to get out of it. That's the main reason that puts me off the older and supposedly a little less reliable Crucial M4, but I just can't decide if 130$ is really what the difference is worth...
What does the "basic" kit of the Samsung 830 include? nothing but the drive itself?
I got a Corsair Force GT 90 but I guess the mounting is different?
Would you recommend the Samsung 830 256GB over the Corsair Force GT 240GB?
If you've already got the mounting kit, SATA cables etc. from your current SSD then the basic version of the 830 will be fine.
Yeah the 830 is better than the Force GT. Not as good as the Corsair Performance Pro but that costs quite a bit more.

Do you happen to have a bootable DVD? If so, try and boot off of that. This will tell us whether or not it quit working after the updates was a coincidence or not.
Bootable dvds would include several linux disks, Vista, 7, and the DevPreview or Consumer Preview of Win 8.

If it is within your budget, buy an external hard drive enclosure which operates with a USB or Firewire cable (depending on what you can use). They are available at many online stores such as Directron, NewEgg, Frys, and on eBay...
Do NOTHING more with your computer. Remove the hard drive now. When you get the external enclosure, insert your failing hard drive, then plug the "enclosed" hard drive into your new or restored computer, where you often locate the needed files and folders and drag them across,. This does not work everytime, but most of the time, the hard drive will not boot because of damage to the outer edge of the disks, but you can still see the data on the drive when it is on a USB connection.
Once you find you can access the old hard drive via a USB connection, do NOT turn it off or disconnect until you have rescued and verified all the data and images.
You may find that it works slowly and takes a lot of time, but it is surprising how often this will work to rescue stuff that is important to you.
If an external enlosure is not available to you, you may be able to insert the drive into another coputer as a slave, with changes to the jumper, and find them that way.
This works because the old drive no longer has to boot. It is not fool proof, but the only other method is to have a rescue company recover the data... it usually costs a lot of money... starting at $55 to test, and as much as $500 to retrieve the files.
recently purchased the above base unit and TV. i can play Xbox on it and use portable speakers which work fine. However when i switch to PC mode there is no sound and the speakers are not recognised. Is this a manufacturers fault or something else? Please reply asap.
What type of cable are you using to connect the PC to the TV?
How do I unlock my at&t windows mobile 6.1 without calling at&t support?
I noticed that no one has responded to this post, and one good reason is that, in most cases, unlocking a phone is against the carrier's Terms of Service, or ToS, and many members would rather not give the know how to break the rules, so to speak.
Hey all, I have recently bought this monitor locally. However, after turning off the eco-saving and other features, the monitor still changes it brightness for some reason. I'm using an Analog cable with a DVI-convertor on the other end. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit and my computer specs are as follow:
Sapphire ATI 6870
2x 1TB WD Caviar Black
Thanks for any help!
My guess is that your monitor has some kind of "Store Demo" setting. Both my LG monitor and my Samsung TV has this, it took me some time to find out. It changes your settings automatically to predefined settings that look good when showing the monitor in a store.
Look for settings like "Mode setting", "Quick start" or "Plug and play", and change to home use.
Edit: Find these settings on your monitors menu, not in Windows
hey ive been having a problem with my external hdd which im now trying to run as BIOS? HDD appears that's now in only External internal an internal one basically yesterday it was working fine as an external then i started to get quot delayed write failure quot or somethign like that and couldn t save E file and everytime it did this more files would disappear from the hd I tried to run a diskcheck on it and it crashed half way through when i restarted the pc the hd was no longer appearing and every now and then if i External HDD that's now internal only appears in BIOS? restarted it i could get it to show up in my computer but the hd was completly empty and also whoing it was now RAW Someone suggested mounting it internally which i did and as soon i startedu up great my xp recognized it and installed it and i thought it was going to work then the delayed write failure hting popped up again and boom gone External HDD that's now internal only appears in BIOS? from my computer and since then its being recognized in bios as a slave driver but cant be found in device manager disk management or by any programs like test disk nothing only in bios is there anythign that can be done as i have like years of recorded music over time built up on it the hdd aint that old but i transferred at some point from pc to it thanks nbsp

I've just been browsing on the internet through my wireless router.
Now its not working, its saying i'm connected to the router but not letting me go online.
I did the cmd winsock thing and that made no difference. I then connected through the cable and it was working fine, now i've unplugged from the router and its loading reallllllly slow/un usable.
Whats happened? it was saying it couldnt connect to dns server 192.168.1.1, but then it started working... but now its not :/
This sounds like either a fault with the routers wireless transmission or your wireless card in the PC.
Start by resetting the router, there should be a reset button somewhere on it, usually you will need a thin wire to push into the whole and hold it until the router responds. This will reset it to default so any security settings will need to be reset.
If there is no change take a look in Device Manager for your wireless card under Network Adapters, right click on the device and select properties, check to see if it reports any problems. If no problems are reported try uninstalling the device and then reboot so that windows will reload the drivers.
Let us know how you get on.
I have a samsung syncmaster 943nwx LCD monitor and it worked fine. but from yesterday i can see that my monitor doesn't display (but menu lights are on), it only shows black screen .If i made the monitor on for some minutes it automatically displays everything and works as normal .
Thanks and best regards from Argentina
Try the monitor on another computer, even a laptop and see if it operates normally. If it does, the problem is with the computer. Post back...
i have sata samsung 750gb hdd yesterday experienced data cycle error on reading one file on HDD (HDD had ntfs), so i ran full HD tune error check and it returned me one red block(286mb per block) others was green, but healthy hd tune shows ok. i did full format (with win7) and run chkdsk /f /r /x that retturnend no bad clusters or any errors at all
do i need to pay attention to that red block which shows in HD TUNE?
I would say No, don't worry about the HD Tune red block
I just bought a new Samsung monitor and it has 1 stuck pixel. I tried applying pressure to it and it didn't do anything.
Did you apply pressure during a full power on/off cycle?
I don't know if that still works, It's been years since I have tried it. If captaincranky finds this thread, He probably knows the best remedy or things to try....he's a bit of a monitor expert.
my motherboard is an ASUS P8H67-M PRO i built my computer a few days ago and haven't really had any major problems but i noticed today when i turn my computer on there is a little message the top left hand corner of the screen i can really make it all out as it is gone in an instant but what i can make out is
Does anyone know how to fix this? it doesnt make sense as my drives work fine and they are recognised inside the bios. The only issue i have had is i cam to install linux today and i received an error message saying CD/DVD + USB devices not found and i cant help thinking they are linked.
Thanks in advance
Did you install the chipset drivers?
Are there any devices in Device Manager with a yellow ? or triangle next to it.
What version of windows are you running.
I'm going to buy a laptop sometime in the next month or two and have some questions;
I was very interested in the Samsung QX410 but stores here in Canada no longer carry it. Should I wait for Samsung next 14" laptop (size i want) as they stated that 2011 will see a large surge in their laptops (and they plan to fight apple on top dog);
Should i just spend the grand on the sony VPCS131FDS which has the same specs as the samsung but is 13.3" instead?
Hi there I just bought a new Samsung printer model no CLX- series It is a multifunction color laser printer The disc that Samsung issued me with for installation is How new multifunction network? printer I can install Samsung wireless onto not working I have attempted to install it by doing what it says I set up the printer and connected the printer to the wireless router via ethernet cable I searched using wireless setup option How can I install new Samsung multifunction printer onto wireless network? on the disk for the computer on the network It reported back that it could not find it so I was unable to install it wirelessly as it says it is not connected to the LAN network which it is I then plugged it in via USB and attempted to install it via the disc This did not work so I tried to do it through windows This worked and I was able to print from the desktop through the USB This is all good and well but we have other computers on the network and they can t print Any help would be much appreciated We have a netgear wireless router by the way we ethernet ports and attempting to install on Vista There is another Vista computer and Macs on the network nbsp
To set up the printer for wireless use you need to assign it an IP address which it will transmit for the PC's in the network to log on to. If the printer does not have its own screen it will need to be connected by cable to a PC in order to do this.
If the setup disc will not run get a replacement as you need to install the printer drivers in all your PC's.
If you cannot replace the disc you will have to go the the Samsung site and download the drivers from there that are for your OS's.
As you now have the printer running off one PC you will need to install the printer drivers on the other PC's and then activate printer sharing. If I new what OS you are using on all the PC's I could give more details.
So yesterday I was on my computer and my monitor started displaying a "check signal cable" message on my screen. First thing I thought was oh snap my video card took a crap on me. So I plugged the monitor into the built in vga port. Still same thing. Then I thought, I would try plugging the monitor into my laptop. So I plugged it into my laptop. The laptop registered it was there so I set up duel screens. The laptop knew that the monitor was there, you could scroll of the laptop screen to the desktop screen, but still the monitor reads check signal cables. I then decided that my VGA cable must be faulty, so i replaced that. Still same error. I really don't want to get a new monitor, I have fallen in love with this one.
You have done decent trouble shooting... Replace the monitor or have it repaired
Hi to all (and happy new year!)
I want to buy a 2.5" external drive, but as you can imagine i don't know which one.
I have already opened a thread like this in tom's hardware:
[ I can't post the link due to rules, please google username gouzou in tomshardware to find the thread ]
but i wanted more like a debate on this matter.
The competitors are:
1) WD my passport Elite 5400rpm, 750gb
2) Seagate Goflex Pro 7200rpm, 500gb
3) Samsung S2 HX-MTA64DA, 7200rpm(i think..), 640gb
WD and Seagate come in same price, Samsung $20 more.
Please consider rpms, density of data, reliability and only usb3.0 or esata for your verdict.
I mainly want the drive to have high write rate.
Well for the start all those have preloaded software on them, if you like them or no thats up to you (for backing up your media).
the Seagate Goflex Pr haves some nice features, but only if you have a device to use it, ill say its between the WD and the Samsung, obviusly the Samsung will be faster but the WD haves 90Gigs more, its up to you if you want more speed or those 90Gigs more.
Ive got a Samsung Syncmaster 943nwx but a few weeks ago i had to replace some bad caps and when i was assembling back the monitor i broke the touch on/off switch, screen configuration, etc. The only way to repair is to replace for a new one i cant send on warranty because allready passed 3 years and i was wandering if any one knows a way to buy a new touch board to replace for the broken one.
OK, here is the problem. I'm browsing online with Chrome when all of the sudden it shuts off and refuses to let me browse more until I have disconnected and reconnected to the network. Its a wired network and ive disconnected my router and modem in exchange for another therefore eliminating those as the problem. The funny thing is i am still connected to the internet because I can still chat with my friends on Google talk and skype. Its very strange and i have not gotten any leads yet. Any help would be much appreciated.
I just added a new Samsung DVD writer to my system and when I booted into Windows the drive cannot be seen. I rebooted and checked in the BIOS and the drive could be seen. So logged back into Windows and still nothing could be seen.
I have a SATA HDD which the OS runs off so didn't think it was the drivers. When I checked around on the internet the only thing that I could find was to upgrade the firmware, but in order to do that, Windows has to be able to see the device. Device doesn't appear in device manager so I'm now at a total loss. Any one got any ideas?
Some motherboards include SATA controllers made by two different makers which need different drivers. Maybe you have such a second controller and you plugged the new optical drive into one of it's ports. If so, you can just install the appropriate driver.
This will probably seem strange to some out there but I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem I just installed a Samsung Spinpoint Spinpoint F3 me ill drive--making feel TB hard Samsung 1 F TB hard drive and as soon as I turned the computer on I began to feel quite strange It is almost like a headache particularly in my head but really over my whole body A weird almost numby achey strong feeling--really the quot strong quot part is most descriptive--like what you would imagine from a magnetic pull I don t really have the words to describe it properly I am guessing that it Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB hard drive--making me feel ill is the EMF from the drive I have had similar problems using a Compaq s laptop which I am writing on now Once I removed the wireless card I couldn t just turn off the wireless I had to remove the card things were much better and generally I can use the laptop The hard drive though is another story Obviously I could remove it but then I am out plus all the labor putting it in and formatting it One site I looked at Computers for the Electrically Sensitive said that some drives may have more powerful voice coils for positioning I don t really know what that is but if there is some way to adjust things perhaps that is a solution I am wondering if there is a way to find out the strength of the voice coil in a hard drive or how much emf the hard drive is putting out--before I buy it Does anyone know Another site mentioned that adding more and more devices will sometimes lead to quot too much quot EMF When I disconnected my other hard drive from the computer that helped just ever so slightly Does anyone know of any materials that will block out EMF There are claims for some materials but I don t know that I trust claims from websites trying to sell you something Other solution I could try moving my computer very far away from my keyboard and monitor I d prefer not to to do that as these days I need to access USB drives etc pretty frequently and I am not sure how far away I d need to move it Thank you for help or for links to sites that can provide me with more help nbsp
Make sure your motherboard is not touching the case chassic and instead is screwed on properly.
Make sure of all your connection turn off computer and turn off PSU switch.
Wait 10 seconds turn switch on and turn on computer and let us know what happens.
I have an Adaptec 5405 raid controller (1.2ghz ROC & 256mb DDR2) with 4 Samsung F3s in RAID10.
I get a minimum read speed of 290mbs, and an average of 380mbs across the array with an 11ms response time.
I was going to buy an SSD - but maybe it's not worth it?
Intel XM25 says read speeds of up to 250mbs... and writes of up to 70mbs...
Get an ssd for your os, they usually run faster on dedicated cards than through the mobo itself. Or maybe I should ask what exactly do you want to use the ssd for.
I got a gb SP C SATA HDD which I ve been using for some years now a week ago the harddisk started freezing like for - seconds etc and coming back and sometimes it froze so I needed to restart when I hooked SP2504C Samsung dead? up another harddisk for the OS and used the SP C as storage sometimes the harddisk would just go offline wouldn t appear in disk management mycomputer etc and finally now whenever I hook it up the BIOS into screen freezes up for a minute or two Samsung SP2504C dead? and it doesn t see my harddisk I tried all different SATA slots changed cables did everything but everytime I hook this harddisk up it just freezes bios for minutes and when I get into Windows the harddisk is of course Samsung SP2504C dead? isn t there I just need to recover some files wont even pass mb so I need a minute or two of an access to the harddisk what can I do about this Edit The harddisk also makes a clicking noise when it s hooked up Thanks already nbsp
In nour experience, the lifetime of a Samsung hard drive ends at about three years... or even sooner on the 250GB model... so it is probably time to change to another... If you do it soon, you still have a good chance of rescuing all of your data... but that total failure could occur at any moment... once you start recovering data, do NOT turn off that old hard drive until done.
I just purchased a 1TB Samsung Story Station. I am backing up some files from my PC and get an error message before it even reaches 30gb saying that the hard drive is full?
When I first got the drive I connected it to my PC and put some files on it. Since then I have also connected it to my Mac and and takes some files from my PC and transferred them to the Mac using the Story Station.
Can anyone tell me why I am getting the error message saying it is full when there is only around 30gb being taken up?
What do you see in disk management, especially partitions, space and file system?
I have a Toshiba Satellite A55-S6925 laptop. Several months ago I replaced the display monitor with another of the same manufacturer (Samsung), as the original monitor suddenly developed an internal crack (no trauma!).
The new monitor works, but my entire desktop is shifted 2 cm to the left and a couple mm down. So, part of my desktop I cannot access. I have tried several display settings and updated the monitor driver, both to no avail. Anyone have any thoughts?
You probably need to replace the inverter at the base of the screen as well. Your screen is a different model, and requires a different inverter is my guess.
My old 17" CRT monitor failed yesterday and my Dad bought me a 20" Samsing B2030. The maximum supported resolution (recommended) is 1600x900.
However, to me, the display doesn't look as clear or smooth as my CRT! Maybe it's just that I was used to it for so long.
The monitor has support for DVI and VGA but came only with a VGA cable. Does a DVI cable improve the display? Is it because I'm using a VGA cable that my resolution isn't that sharp?
Also, when my monitor powers up it says "Analog Source". It's attached to the Radeon HD 4890 by means of a VGA adapter.
Any advice is appreciated.
The VGA output is analog. DVI is a digital connection and the picture may look better when using a DVI cable.
I had a peculiar problem occur after my reformat yesterday. After installing my video card drivers (ATI Radeon 4870) i proceeded to install my Samsung Syncmaster 2333sw monitor drivers. After installing the correct driver (analog) i went to my 'display setting' and found the max resolution to be 1920x1080 which is what i wanted. However, selecting the 1920x1080 resolution and clicking apply put the monitor into the proper resolution but also executed a slight flicker in the graphics across the desktop (menu, programs anything really). The refresh rate is 30hz Interlaced when i select the 1080 res...and i want 60hz. Anyone else had this issue? I fear i might be stuck at less than satisfactory monitor res for years to come!
Is it a new 120Hz display? I believe that ATI released new drivers that added support for correct output for 120Hz displays. Might be worth looking into that.
Hello I've purchased samsung syncmaster 943nwx LCD monitor and it worked for 1 year since I bought. but from yesterday I can see that my monitor doesn't display (but menu lights are on), it only shows black screen .If I made the monitor on for some minutes it automatically displays everything and works as normal .
I'm really socked with these kinds of behavior from monitor. I've purchased in so more price but it worked for only one yr.. so boring.. Can any one say. what was the real problem.??
Samsung 943nwx problem
I also have a same sort of problem with my samsung 943nwx. All things are doing perfectly except the monitor.it goes black.i you take a closer look it has a very low brightness.i'm not able to get it.someone please help me.
so i have an Advent Laptop for about 5 months now. 2 days ago all of a sudden my L button on my keyboard stopped working. When i press it a j appears. PLEASE HELP,
ps the way i am using a L now is because im pasting it every time i need it
Replace the keyboard under warranty... or first place the computer upside down and blow out the lint, fiber, and dust out with a canned air such as Dust Off or other that is designed to clean computers... as a first step.
Do not clean with untreated compressed air.
This can be the first sign of a greater problem... so talk to the people were you obtained it.
i recently got the samsung 2233rz 120hz monitor, and whenever i set it to 120hz at 32bit colour the screen shakes. but when i set it to 16bit colour its fine. at 60hz it is fine either way.
i am running a 4850
connected with dvi
overdrive/clock is turned off
any ideas on how to fix this? and thanks in advance
The computer's video processor probably only runs at 72Hz max
I bought the Samsung 2494 monitor that was listed in your Tech Deals and I love it.
I was wondering why some web sites are full screen and some are not. I have it set at 1920x1080 & 60HZ.
T'is your system setup.
I am trying to tether a Samsung Reclaim to a lap top and I was just wondering if anyone knew how to do this...
I have called Sprint and they told me that if I can figure it out, I can use it. Apparently it is covered in the internet bundle that is standard on the phone.
does no one know how to do this?

have had a Samsung SyncMaster 753DF CRT monitor for a number of years now (6-7 years). It worked great with my old Pentium 3 system and is now part of our second family system.
In the last few years every once in a great while the screen would have a sheer pinkish over the screen. It wouldn't last long and for long periods never occur. In fact for the last year it was always clear -- until yesterday and today.
The sheer pink is ever present. No settings were changed. No power failures to speak of or hard reboots. It remained so until my son flicked the screen with his finger. Now it is back to normal.
Any ideas? If I have to buy a monitor so be it but if I don't have to spend the money so much the better.
I suppose with a monitor of that age there could be some dirty connections involved. It might be helpful to re-seat the CRT socket where it connects to the image tube, also the yoke connector and degaussing ring.
Before you go inside, make certain the plug is pulled and you bleed off any residual charge by holding the power switch in.
ALSO, most, if not all CRTs have a High Voltage cage, (sort of a box separate from the main chassis), do not attempt to go inside, avoid it like the plague, it will light you up big time!
I can't find one on the Samsung site. If you know where I can get one, I'd appreciate the info.
HardDrives and CD Drives and many others standard drives and things like Mouse and Keyboard etc don't have 3rd party drivers - Ever (except some have little programs and possibly an Inf file to name it in Device Manager)
Oh, obviously many USB flash drives come with drivers (for win98 and around that area )
Are you talking about the HardDrive Controller that's on your Motherboard?
And is found at your Computer manufacturer or Motherboard support site
Yesterday while watching movie on my PC it appeared as black on the screen and stopped working. After restarting the PC it was not responding as the BIOS was unable to recognize the hard disk. It creates an unusual sound while BIOS searches drives.
1. I tried by bootting the PC using another hard disk but this HD does not appear in the windows.
2. I also tried to boot using Ubuntu live CD but failed to find my HD on it.
As it is not recognized by BIOS, I cann't use data recovery software to recover the data. I'm badly in need of all data in it.
Please someone help me in this regard to recover the data.
Capacity : 250 GB
Interface : Serial ATA 3.0 Gbps
Buffer memory : 16MB
Try the freezer trick. Place your hard drive in zip lock freezer bag to protect it from moisture and freeze it overnight (or a few hours at least). Quickly hook up the frozen hard drive and try to boot from it. If it works, be prepared to copy your important data as soon as possible before the hard drive warms up too much. This is not a permanent fix but it may work long enough to save your data.
i'm away from home forgot my power pack !
can i use any power pack to charge my laptop
ie from another laptop???
eg from an acer aspire?
It depends upon the Voltage and Wattage of the Acer Aspire Power Adapter
In your Samsung:R710 laptop
If you are using battery: AA-PB2NC6B , you can use a 11.10V 60Watt Power Adapter
If you are using battery: AA-PL2NC9B , you can use a 11.10V 90Watt Power Adapter
If you are using battery: AA-PA1N90W , you can use a 19V 90Watt Power Adapter
Looks like a power Adapter ~ 19V 90Watt is preferred
My Samsung burner is spoiling all my DVDs. After burning windows says "nothing found on the DVD". The media appears completely blank in explorer. I tried several burning sw (nero, imgburn, Grab and burn...). Another thing I noticed is that when I load the DVD, the drive appears as "CD Reader" and not "DVD RW" as usual in Windows Explorer.
Worn out or just plain bad. There is nothing you can do to fix it. Luckily, great DVD-RW drives are available for as low as $24 or less at www.directron.com, www.tigerdirect.com, www.newegg.com, www.zipzoomfly.com, www.frys.com, www.techdepot.com, www.pcmall.com, www.cdw.com, www.krex.com... or at your local computer store for a little more.
Most of them do not last more than a year, and sometimes less, when heavily used. To many parts. Too narrow of tolerances, and wear out of specs too easily.
My monitor and computer shuts down after approx. 20 minutes. I have narrowed down the problem to the digital cable; if I unhook that cable, the computer will stay on. Once I hook in the digital cable to the video card, the computer shuts down after approx. 20 minutes. Help, please.
Get into the power/ display settings and reapply them. What Operating System are you running?
I have just finished fitting a new dvd drive into my computer - Dell dimention 8400. The promlem is - it will play previouesly recorded cds from Picasa 3, it will also play commercial dvds, but when I record photos to disc from Picasa with the new drive it will not play them.
can anyone help.
Maybe a firmware update is needed on this Samsung
I bought a samsung 2233sw monitor a month ago, and running with evga 8600gt using D-Sub(VGA) connector.
Now-a-days i am noticing a intermittent flickering or text shaking artifact is displayed on my screen only when i run it in its highest(native) resolution that is 1920x1080 full hdmi. In lower resolution there is no such problem. but in lower resolution the display of the monitor is very poor and showing a text/screen bluring or tearing effect like other tfts.
Can u guys suggest some solution to the problem.
Can dvi-d connection wipe out this sort of problem.
I suppose I'd spring for a DVI cable as a matter of course. It will look better, (assuming everything is working correctly) with the Digital connection
But, I'd really try your monitor on another computer ASAP. >>>(read this as first)<< In case it needs to be RMAed.
It seem's logical to eliminate that first.
The last time I saw anything such as you describe on a computer monitor was with an old Emachines 17" CRT. I think that was due to the degausser. Or maybe RFII.
First, any graphics adapter, even onboard, should be able to display up to 1920 x 1200 even connected via VGA.
So, in no particular order,
Video driver corrupted or wrong version
Bad video card
I bought a Samsung recently, but haven't used it. It has a "driver disc" (?), so much for universal PnP. It was giving me trouble setting the color, brightness and contrast. Don't know if that was the video card driver. But the control sliders were really acting funky.
I installed a hard drive into my pc to access stored movies. The drive appears in explorer but when trying to open drive I get the message please insert disk media into storage device. Any tricks on how to get to the files.

You might have auto-run worm on the system. Does it appear on C also? When last you scan your system for malware/spyware/adware/worms/viruses/trojans?
I am using a Samsung LCD monitor on my laptop, the last week or so when I have dark colors or images up, I see in the backround of my panel, it looks like everything is shaky or freaking out, the images themselves arent moving but I was curious how to fix this (If I can). I updated to my current driver, I am wondering if this is a side effect of me hooking this monitor up via VGA cable instead of DVI, my laptop didnt have anything else so I used what I had, it's been fine up until this week...is my panel just dying slowly?
You will need to try that monitor on another computer to verify its operation

When a print a black and white text document straight from the computer, the quality is fine. Color printing is very faded, and color copying is bad. When I make black and white text copies the copies are all faded. Is there anyway to set the printer so that the color is darker or is there setting in the computer? I have tried using different types of inks, and I have emptied the toner waste cartridge. Is there anything else?
Everything else on the printer works fine though, and I don't want to get rid of it, but this is really annoying. I don't understand why the quality is so faded, no error signs have come up on it
Are you using Samsung ink? Is it within the Samsung dates?
All settings for that printer are on the computer... using the Samsung drivers.
It appears yours needs a cleaning.

2) Interestingly enough see this link about check the cable jumpers as well
Hey, I have a Samsung 19" widescreen LCD monitor that I use for my PC. It is being run through HDMI but also works with VGA and typical TV inputs. (Model number LA19R71B) It works great and I enjoy using it although it has an unusual characteristic. The color of the monitor is fine whenever its in the native resolution (1440x900) but it seems whenever it rescales to a lower or higher than normal resolution, the color is extremely bright and strong and while there is nothing wrong with the amount of color when in native mode I would love if it had the same level of color as when its not.
This is very apparent when I run a game, like Braid, that has no support for my resolution, so it attempts to rescale the lower resolution, but as it does, the colors become very strong and great. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Just a suggestion; try un-installing and re-installing your display drivers. Also, see if this happens in another OS such as a Linux Live CD.
I am in search for another back-up HDD for a good price. I found a 500gb Samsung for $50 which seems good even thou its a bit slower then others. I know there are some good 1TB deals which is the best gb to $ but that's a little more then I need atm. I have a TV, headphones and some other general entertainment electronics from Samsung and they've never failed me, but nothing PC related. Just looking for some input if anyone used one of there HDD and how there quality is.
Is this a good buy? Or should I stick with more familiar HDD brand such as a 500GB WD? They even have a $75 TB Drive =X .
All hard drives will fail sooner or later. It could be you will have good luck with the samsung, BUT I prefer to go with proven brands (for me it would be WD or Seagate). This is assuming you data is valuable. If it is not that valluable and/or you are backing it up anyway then go with the samsung.
Here is a WD for $60 with free shipping. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073
and if you shop around you might find even better deals
Nevermind. Thanks for checking, but I sorted it out.
Nevermind, I figured it out.

Hi my Sony Viao will not display on my Samsung LE40M87BD TV.
It is not a straight forward problem. The TV will recognize my Mac mini on a VGA lead and then if I unplug the VGA lead and plug it in to my laptop the desktop extension will appear on the TV. Fine but if I change the source on the TV and come back to the PC port it is blank on the TV, well on the Samsung if it dose not see a input it dose not give you the option to display this input. I have checked my Sony and updated it as much as I can but it is not sending a signal to the TV to say here I am. My Nvida graphics card can see the TV but I am stuck any ideas would be grateful.
another one bites the dust
Nothing you can do!
I had the same problem with my Samsung HDTV connecting to sony viao.
I called Samsung, they said it was a firmware issue. Anyway, we tried a couple different things and nothing. Call sony he says.
Sony first of all charges by the way in case you didnt know. For an hour we tried all kinds of different things even tried that firmware and nothing. he says call samsung they may be able to help.
HA. yeah right. you see where this going.
P.S. If Samsung doesnt play well with others then why do i have to pay the price.
My mp3 player Samsung YP-T9 QAB displays that , and I can't turn it off except for pressing the a/b button and menu simltaneuosely which I discovered at anythingbutipod.com
Before it displayed something like F/W v1.26 and I thought it was a firmware problem so I downloaded the most recent one a couple weekes ago-Obviously it didn't work
By the way this mp3 player had a preexisting problem-I dropped it in water-but I fixed it thru this thread: dropped yp-t9 in water
Anyway, I recall having this bluetooth problem before and I fixed it but can't remembr how
I can no more install win XP because it does not find the HDD 0. I made all kind of tests belong this the samsung HDD should be okay. in the bios SATA is enabled.
then by RAID he can see both HDD. That's happened after a necessary low level formatting, the only possibility to clean the HDD. All tests say the HDD is okay. Can't set HDD 0 - primary master - not active. the secondary master, same HDD is active, there are all important data saved. It may be there is somethings wrong with the MBR. but no program can find something.
can anybody help, how I can reinstall Win XP home SP2 again to HDD 0?
Strangely, I just answered a similar question here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic123022.html
Basically go to your Manufacture driver page (this may help: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic117607.html)
Locate your Motherboard raid driver
Download and create a disk (some you just extract and copy to a disk (disk meaning floppy or CD)
Then start Windows setup, and when you see the "press F6" at the bottom of the Windows setup screen. Press F6, then put your downloaded Raid driver in the drive
Also here's your ES Tool (The Drive Diagnostic Utility) to test that specific drive: http://tinyurl.com/bd5fjt
But this is totally unrelated ie you're not going to Samsung to get the driver
