I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Dell Inspiron 5521 | RAM Upgrade | Memory Module

1. Yes, albeit at a performance penalty. It's designed for a pair of matched modules.
2. Either will work by itself. Don't mix DDR3 and DDR3L though -- if you have DDR3, use that; if L, use that if you're adding a module.
3. Crucial is hard to beat particularly given its compatibility guarantee when purchased through its memory configurator. Anything else- ask the vendor about compatibility guarantees (or be sure you understand the possible restocking charge if a return is required).

I have the laptop model inspiron 15R-5521 with service tag <Service Tag: Removed as per privacy policy>, and would like to replace the touchscreen. The screen has two groups of vertical white lines, which do not appear on an external monitor, but these lines do appear on the LCD BIST test on all colors, except for white. The screen's glass is also cracked in a few places.
Firstly, can I purchase and install only a replacement glass for the screen? Alternatively, would it be possible to entirely replace the touchscreen with a non-touchscreen, matte display?

A:DELL inspiron 15R-5521 screen replacement

Hi JG12345,
As there is no warranty, then you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
If you wish to replace the parts yourself, then check this link - http://bit.ly/2cZX70m
If you choose to replace the screen with non touch / matte screen - you would need to replace the LCD backcover with a compatible one designed for non touch functionality.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

The laptop was used 2 hours before the wifi adapter suddenly went "missing", as in no wifi driver is shown in the Device Manager list, and when I try to install the driver, the installation was unsuccessful due to absence of hardware.
Now, this laptop was bought 3 years ago, and this problem reoccurred a few times, each time it just magically fixed itself after a couple of days. The problem usually happens after having carried the computer outside during bus ride, so I'm guessing the hardware component somehow got shaken out of place?
What should I do now to fix the problem ASAP? Thank you!

Could it be becausr of this?

A:Dell Inspiron 15R 5521 BIOS update error.

No -- 5G is more than enough free space for a BIOS flash.  Is the system failing to recognize the AC adapter (F2 at powerup to check)?
If it is, the BIOS won't flash - this is a hardware problem a BIOS update won't fix -- either the adapter, the DC jack or the mainboard is bad.

Hello there, After upgrading to Windows 8.1 i sadly found out that the MaxxAudio software is missing from my computer, is there any way to get it back? I've had it on my PC before the upgrade and i want to use it again.

A:Dell Inspiron 5521 Waves MaxxAudio driver missing

Hello. MaxxAudio is included in the Realtek audio driver package. Download and install this Realtek audio driver which is for the Inspiron 5521 model with Win 8.1.
If that doesn't work there is no other way -- no separate download for MaxxAudio.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1564 and I am trying to upgrade the memory to 8GB.  I bought two KTD-L3CL/4G.  It seems to meet all the specs, but when I try to install it I get a message from windows that it can't restart and needs to be repaired.  If I put the old memory back in, it works.  is there something special I have to do to upgrade this memory?  I thought you just shut down windows, pull the battery, unplug, the replace and start back up.....
If I look in Setup at the start, it shows 8GB memory.  The Kingston page says KTD-L3C/4G, no reference to the CL, just the C.  Is there a big difference?  I am using Windows 7 Home version.

A:Dell Inspiron 1564 8GB, Memory fails to upgrade

Below are the memory specs and configuration information on the Inspiron 1564.
Memory
The Inspiron™ 1564 system supports dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM with memory speeds of 1066 MHz. At 1066 MHz, this memory offers a significant increase of memory performance over previous platforms.

The memory solution is implemented in a dual-channel configuration, allowing the system to have twice the memory bandwidthwhile using the same memory technology.
Memory modules must be installed as a perfectly matched pair to take advantage of the dual-channel memory bus. If not a matched pair, the system's memory bus operates in a single-channel configuration.

Memory Configuration

Inspiron™ 1564 has two user-accessible SODIMM sockets, both slots can be accessed after removing the base cover. Basically, when both DIMM connectors are populated, the system has optimum dual-channel performance unless channels A and B have different amounts of memory.

4 GB Memory Barrier
The Inspiron™ 1564 system supports a maximum of 8 GB of memory. The Windows® XP as well as 32-bit versions of Windows Vista can only use a maximum of 4 GB of address space. However, the amount of memory available to the operating system is less than 4 GB. Certain components within the computer require memory address space in the 4 GB range. Any memory address space reserved for these components cannot be used by the operating system.

NOTE:
This is a limitation of a 32-bit architecture: the system can only address 4 GB of allocated memory. Allocated memory is made up of physical RAM and any I/O space needed by devices. Normally this is not a problem, but when a system has 4 GB of physical memory, the memory addresses needed to map RAM overlap the space needed for the I/O devices. In this case the need for I/O space takes precedence, and the amount of RAM visible to the operating system is limited to 4 GB minus the I/O allocation.

I have a Dell 1521 running Vista, I have had no issues with the laptop, it runs great. I wanted to added mmore memory just for and little boost and max out the system. I purchased some Kingston 2 gig ram modules which are compatible for the system and installed them. The Bios does not register that I have 4 gigs of Ram just the normal 2 gigs. I have updated the Bios incase this was an issue and this did not fix the issue. I have reseated the ram, still just the 2 gigs are registered.

Is there anything else that I need to do for my system to resgister the other 2 gigs of ram for the system.

Thanks

Hi all,
I have DELL INSPIRON 3250 desktop supported by DDR3L RAM. Is it possible for me to replace DDR3L with DDR4 RAM (Intel 6th Gen I5-6400) and chipset is H110.
Existing RAM : DDR3L 1600Mhz (UDIMM slots)
I tried CRUCIAL website. They only mention DDR3L RAM. Some internet websites mention that SKYLAKE motherboard support both DDR3L(1.35v) & DDR4(1.2v). I assume my motherboard chipset fall under SKYLAKE category.
I don't want to feel disappointed after investing in DDR4 RAM. That's why I want to clarify before buying. If DDR4 shall be supported, what speed I should choose. Also only if DDR3L RAM supported, can I try going beyond 1600 mhz

This all-in-one desktop has and easily accessible panel for maintenance purposes – so does anyone know if the 12 MB RAM (8+4?)  could be upgraded to 16 MB, and the 32 GB SSD drive be swapped out for a larger SSD drive?
I know I could just buy the 27 inch version with more memory etc but I've had a 27 inch Dell monitor before and the reflection on it was terrible, so bad that I had to return it because I just couldn't use it.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello All.
I have a Dell inspiron 14R n4010, actually working with 4GB ( 2 x 2gb 1RX8 PC3-10600S-9-10B2 1033mhz DDR3).
I am trying to upgrade memory to 8 GB with 2 x 4gb DDR3L - 1600 SODIMM 1.35V CL11  recommended by Crucial.com (crucial.com/usa/en/scanview/B8204BC231D926C3).
After upgrade memory,  Bios phoenix (version A13) recognize it.  but windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits won't boot.
I read so many post about this problem, but I can't find an answer how to solve it. I tried updating BIOS and did not work. Tried to change memory speed, but BIOS does not leave me to change settings.
Is this memory really compatible with Dell inspiron 14R n4010?  anyone knows how to solve this problem?
Thanks

Ask Crucial support if you can't get an answer here. Crucial is good for helping with problems like this when you buy memory from them. A13 is the latest bios. IMO 4GB is plenty of ram for this 5 yr old model. Replace the 4GB and use it until you can buy a new computer.

I want to add another 8gb memory module.  I have asked Dell representative 5 times about which module to order.  I have received 4 different recommendations and one "your PC can't be upgraded).  I do know that my PC has two slots for memory and is only using 1 8gb module so I know it can be upgraded.  I just don't know which module is best suited for my PC.
Any suggestions??  Thanks in advance

A:Inspiron 3250 Small Desktop Memory Module

Have you called Dell Spare Parts directly (totally separate from Dell tech support) and given them that part number?
You can look at Crucial.com. They have 2x8GB RAM for this system model for ~$94. The good thing about Crucial is they guarantee it works in whichever system they recommended it for or they take it back. Many people around this forum buy from Crucial.
But do yourself a favor. Start at Crucial's home page and work through their product finder on the left side so you know you looking at RAM for your system. Don't just rely on the link I posted, because -after all- it is your money.
You will have to click the "Show more" button when you get to the page for your model to see the 8 GB modules.
And I guess you could sell the Hynix module on eBay etc to recover some of the cost of a new pair...

Pretty sure you'll be good with 240 pin DDR2 modules. Best to install in pairs, so keep that in mind. While newegg isn't guaranteed to give you the best price, they've always been reliable wherever I am in the world when it comes to shipping.

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Memory,Desktop Memory,240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM

Those are the modules for your board sorted by rating. I personally have Mushkin brand in my tower, but I'm not partial to any brand. Check out the reviews. Maybe someone else here has the same mobo as you and can offer some first hand experience on what you should get. Good luck.

Also for future reference

You can go there and find the proper ram size/timings and then use that info to do a search on newegg or your favorite shopping site.

I have an Inspiron R - the on-board sound card is having some issues the volume from the speakers is very very low accompanied with a loud hissing and static noise the headphone jack is not working no headphones are detected at all I am a tech person myself who has worked for dell support so i Audio Inspiron 5521 R Issues have tried everything from the Knowledge base but nothing seems to work Drivers Reinstall OSRI volume tests enabling disabling features power management tweaks Bios updates Inspiron 5521 R Audio Issues every possible thing in the book I tried a tear down of the machine but since the audio is on-board there isn t much i could do to rectify the problem I know as a standard procedure dell would ask me to pay for support for this out of warranty laptop and the only thing they can do is a motherboard replacement which would not be an economical option I tried using a usb DAC and some USB headphone with the laptop which work fine but then again they have this highly annoying high frequency pitch which is caused due to power being fed to Device through usb Using headphone with these devices have made me go crazy because of this noise i might even go deaf if i use it for long Is there as possible way i can fix this i highly doubt it also if there is a device i can use for external audio with headphones that would not make this high pitched noise then that would be great Need Ideas and lots of help

A:Inspiron 5521 R Audio Issues

Hello. I don't think you mentioned your operating system. If it is Win 7 or 8 and you are using the Realtek 6.0.1.6788 audio driver, that driver is buggy and doesn't recognize the headphone jack. The previous version works okay, 6.0.1.6690.If you are using one of the Win10 or Win 8.1 audio drivers for the Inspiron 15R 5521, I don't know if they are buggy or not. What I would do is to switch from the Realtek driver to the Windows native driver. If even the native driver does not recognize the headphone jack, then probably hardware failure.
Zubidxalso if there is a device i can use for external audio with headphones that would not make this high pitched noise
Sorry but I had not previously heard of that problem.
Zubidxwhich is caused due to power being fed to Device through usb
If it is a common usb issue, I'm surprised that the usb DAC wasn't designed to filter out the noise

I have an Inspiron 15R 5521 and the built in LCD display is failing. Rather than repair it, I want to remove it and run the base attached to an external HDMI monitor. However, after unplugging the LCD connector from the motherboard, the system won't boot (8 beep code) even though the external monitor is plugged in.
Is there a way around this? A bios setting perhaps? Does anyone know if it would work if I left the connector plugged in with the cable cut rather than unplugging it?
Thanks.

Hi , just wondering , I have a 4GB laptop (dell inspiron n5010) with i3 350 processor and 500 GB HD ... lately I wanted to play the most recent GTA and what happened ? well the game booted but barely have i gone out of the first corner the whole background disappeared ... I went to my graphics settings and it says Generic PnP Monitor and Intel(R) HD Graphics
-Chip type Intel HD
-Dac type Internal
-Bios info : Intel Video BIOS
-Total Available graphics memory 1696 MB
-Dedicated Video Memory 64MB
-System Video memory 0MB
-shared system memory 1632MB

Is there any way to increase the Video memory on my laptop ?
I will add to it that in the Bios itself there are no options available for me to even lower it they are all kind of @[email protected]
I have been trying everything even updates from intel etc but not helping...

All you can do is max out your system memory, if it isn't maxed already. There might be an option in the laptops bios to increase the shared video memory

I am in the process of upgrading the Inspiron 530 for my mom. It was running great but has started to show it's age.  I want to snag some new faster memory, was contemplating upgrading the processor but at this point not going to bother cause of the fact that it's an older machine, she mainly uses it for emails and the occasional web surfing session.
I see that Dell is silling RAM but feel it's a little more expensive side and was trying to find it elsewhere but see there's different speeds...So rather than get the wrong speed and have it not work, can someone point me in the right direction so I make sure I get the right memory?
Thanks

A:Inspiron 530 Memory Upgrade

You can get an E8400 CPU on eBay for a modest sum. You can get four GB of lifetime warranty memory for $50, including shipping.
The biggest improvement you can make will be an SSD boot drive; it will make the 530 seem like a whole new computer, faster than some new entry level models.

Lately I have been noticing that my laptop has started slowing down so I Ispiron HD disabled AMD DELL Radeon 5521 on 8730m decided to use the recovery option in the settings app on Windows to reinstall Windows and hopefully have a better experience overall After I have finished the process I installed the AMD AMD Radeon HD 8730m disabled on DELL Ispiron 5521 driver crimson edition to make sure things will work properly but when I opened the driver software under the display section I have a message saying quot No displays are currently connected to AMD products quot and under the system section there are labels on the top overview software and hardware Next to hardware the following is written quot AMD Radeon TM HD M M Disabled quot I tried the GPU and GPU stress tests on the Dell website and on both of them the score was lower than expected I opened the DirectX Diagnostics Toll DXDIAG and I had Display and Display being the Intel HD graphics and being the AMD one When I opened the Device Manager under Display Adapter I can see both the Intel HD graphics and the AMD card and everything seems fine I tried to compare my benchmarks in games League of Legends Battlefield Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor to what other people got with this card yet my results were lower Anything I can do Maybe I didn t install it properly If so what should I do Thanks for any help

A:AMD Radeon HD 8730m disabled on DELL Ispiron 5521

The question is, was the AMD GPU working after the recovery but BEFORE you attempted to install the driver you installed?
Bear in mind there is indeed no display directly attached to the AMD GPU on this system - the display is connected ONLY to the Intel GPU, which funnels ALL video data, even if processed through the AMD GPU, through to the display panel.

Hi everybody,

I have an old Dell Inspiron 1100 (Celeron 2.4) with 256MB RAM (two 128MB sticks). A friend of mine gave me a 512MB stick and I happily thought that I finally would be able to upgrade the memory of my old friend. The new memory I got is:

Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 266MHz DDR Non-ECC CL2.5 200 Pin SODIMM
(KVR266X64SC25/512)

However, when I install the new memory the laptop won't start! The LED blinks for 5-10 seconds and then the computer turns off. When I put back my old memory everything works fine again. I've tried it with the new memory alone in both of the empty slots and also together with one of the two 128MB sticks. I've tried all possible combinations but the laptop simply doesn't start whenever the 512MB module is installed. What's going on? I thought this memory was compatible with the Inspiron. Am I wrong?

Cheers,
Ma

You need SATA connectors.

Realistically you could probably get away with using your existing PSU, but either of those PSU's you linked would do the job.

However any of the Thermaltake PSU's that aren't from the Toughpower series aren't generally regarded as quality units. I haven't much about the Gigabyte models. Unfortunately quality PSU's have a price to match.

But at least they aren't SHAWS (Never, ever, ever buy a SHAW PSU)

But yes, a 9500GT will work with a 450W PSU.

Hi

I was try to find another one, but it out of stock at local markets in Russia.
Help me to find alternative module please.

A:Inspiron n5040 memory upgrade

ILYAILYAILYA,
Below are the system specs for the Memory in your Dell Inspiron N5040. Unfortunately, I have no information to purchase Memory in Russia except for contacting Dell Sales in your area.
Memory Specs:
Memory module connectors Two user-accessible SODIMM connectors Memory module capacities 2 GB, 4 GB and 8GB Possible Memory Configurations 2 GB, 3 GB, 4 GB, 6 GB and 8 GB Memory type DDR3 1333 MHz SODIMM (Operates at 1066 MHz) Minimum memory 2 GB Maximum memory 8 GB
The Inspiron N5040 system supports dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM with memory speeds of 1333 MHz. At 1333 MHz, the memory offers a significant increase of memory performance over previous platforms.
NOTE: Since the Front Side Bus on the HM57 chipset is 1066 MHz,the memory on Inspiron N5040 will be operating at 1066 MHz

The memory solution is implemented in a dual-channel configuration, allowing the system to have twice the memory bandwidth while using the same memory technology.
Memory modules must be installed as a perfectly matched pair to take advantage of the dual-channel memory bus. If not a matched pair, the system's memory bus operates in a single-channel configuration.

Memory Configuration
Inspiron N5040 has two user-accessible SODIMM sockets, both slots can be accessed after removing the keyboard  . Basically, when both DIMM connectors are populated, the system has optimum dual-channel performance unless channels A and B have different amounts of memory.
Inspiron N5040: DIMM Configuration Slot A         Slot B     Total Memory 2048 MB    None          2048 MB 1024 MB    2048 MB    3072 MB 2048 MB    2048 MB    4096 MB 4096 MB    None           4096 MB 4096 MB   1024 MB     5120 MB 4096 MB    2048 MB     6144 MB 4096 MB    4096 MB    8192 MB

A:Dell Inspiron 1100 memory problem

The Dell Inspiron 1100 is infamous for this problem, and sometimes motherboards have to be replaced. The Kingston memory, even though ValueRam, is usually pretty good in that model. It does not like to have mixed memory sizes or speeds.
However, try removing all the old memory, then inserting the new module in slot one, then if that does not work, try slot two. If it doesn't work by itself, it is doomed in your machine. If it does work, then you can try adding
The Inspiron 1100 really works best with memory that is not "value" or lower tier memory, and is PC3200 (400 MHz). See if you can borrow other memory to try. Two modules of PC3200 Sodimms that are exactly the same should give you 1 GB of working memory. There many vendors sell good DDR Sodimm
memory for $15.80 (256 mb) to $25.00 (512 mb) so for $50 you could have one GB, assuming your Inspiron 1100 is working properly.
But we are now seeing so many failed 1100 motherboards for unknown causes, that it might not be worth attempting the changes.

The Inspiron 7347 system has 2 SODIMM slots. The system accepts a memory capacity ranging from 4GB and 8GB. The memory type accepted is DDR3L 1600 MHz SODIMM only. The computer supports a maximum of 8GB of memory when installed with two 4GB DIMMs.

A:Max Memory on Dell Inspiron 15 (3521) Touch

To your question,How much RAM can my computer hold? Most editions of the Windows 7 and  Windows 8 OS are 64 bit. If you are running Starter or Home Basic, your RAM limit is 8GB. The RAM limit for Home Premium is 16GB. If you are running a 32-bit OS, such as Windows XP, Vista 32 or Windows 7 32-bit edition, you have a limit of 4GB of memory. As a side note, that's per slot! That means that can be 8gb (4gb per slot) if using a OS 32bit version and up to 16gb (8gb per slot) if 64bit is running on your laptop!Source? You can uninstall updates if you think there is a bad update. Open Settings, Update, Advanced Options, View update History, Uninstall updates. Not all updates can be uninstalled but some can. You should also check the Event Viewer for clues as to what might be hanging up the computer.

Hi,

I was looking to upgrade my Dell Insprion 2330 all-in-one PC to a solid state drive, to improve the performance. Firstly, is this possible? If so, is it practical?

Currently I have the factory 2TB hard disk installed and it seems a shame to loose all that storage space. From what I have seen it may be possible to replace the blu-ray drive with a SSD instead? Primarily I would be looking to run my operating system of the SSD and then use the existing drive for the bulk of my storage. That being said I am not sure if I would want to loose my blu-ray player either. I don't use it all that much, but it is still nice to have it there. I understand I may need to make some compromises to make the upgrade, so hopefully someone will be able to point me in the best direction and tell me whether it is really worth it. My PC doesn't run slow my any stretch, but from what I have seen it can make a big difference!

Thanks in advance,

Alex

A:SSD upgrade for Dell Inspiron 2330, is it possible?

Technically speaking, yes you could replace the hard drive with an SSD. I have never changed anything (hardware wise) with an All-In-One unit, but it must be possible. If you are looking to keep the extra storage space, you could take the 2TB hard drive and put it in an external hard drive case and connect it to one of your two USB 3.0 ports. That way you still have storage space to use while keeping your Blu-ray drive and having a SSD for your Operating System and Programs. It wont be as fast as leaving it inside connected with a SATA cable, but it will be better then connecting it USB 2.0 or not using it at all. If you do go through with this "venture", take photos and document what you did each step and then post them up here. May come in handy for someone else in the future.

I just had a chance to buy the basic edition of Windows 7 on the cheap, so I took advantage even though I'm not sure if it'll work on my Inspiron e1505, which is currently running XP. I checked the minimum requirements on the box, and figured I meet them all so I picked it up. I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, and that seemed to confirm that I can run it. I have a 1.8 GHz processor and 1 GB of ram. The only issue is that my computer is not listed as a Windows 7 compatible system on Dell's website: http://support.dell.com/support/topi...7&docid=364750

So who do I believe? Dell's website or the Windows 7 upgrade advisor?

A:Should I upgrade my Dell Inspiron e1505 to 7?

well if it was me i would would check to see if there is any drivers for 7 for your machine and if there are you will want to get more ram even thow windows 7 will run on 1gb be much better if you had 2gb. but i think you will be better off with xp on that machine.

I just want to know if it is possible to upgrade the E1705's CPU to something faster than 1.66GHz that I have now. I'm looking for something in the 2 GHz and up range. Plus I would like to know when/if the old E1705 that came with the Intel Core Duo changed to the new one with the Intel Core 2 Duo processors.

Now, I'm at work so I can't check my laptop now, but if I have the old Intel Core Duo processor. Would it be possible for me to upgrade my processor to the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

A:Dell Inspiron E1705 CPU Upgrade

That depends on the way DELL made your laptop. Some you can remove the CPU and replace it with higher speed. Butyou got those Dual core ones where you can change the CPU, but doing that will have to be check with DELL online support first. Remember faster CPU more battery life will be shorten. Going from 1.66GHz to 2.0GHz isn't that big of a deal.

Folks,
hoping somebody can assit here.  I have an old Inspiron 530 mini tower desktop.  Not sure of the uP or MB model.
Got it new in 2007 and it has been generally a reliable PC, had one raid drive fail which I replaced and recently video card has failed so running off embedded VGA port.  Power supply has just failed and replacing that with one from ebay.
Now I know 99% are thinking buy a new one!  Finances don't allow that but I could probably afford some upgrades if cheap enough.
Replacement Video card is easy however I'd like a bit more grunt to deal with the new OS WIN10 & associated programs out now so looking at potentially a MB upgrade.
Can anyone advise suitable upgrade option for a Dell MB that that would fit the mini tower and power 300 W supply?

thanks in advance.
cheers
Peter

A:Dell Inspiron 530 upgrade options

I suggest an SSD boot drive and a Sapphire 6450 video card rather than a new motherboard. The IO shield of the 530 is non-removable, so you'd have to modify the chassis to fit a different motherboard. And, Socket 775 is long obsolete, so there are no modern choices available (with features like SATA 3 and USB 3).

I use it for work, mainly translation tools, and also for some ocasional gaming (Witcher 3, Cities skylines, etc.).
So I was thinking on maybe upgrading it a bit, but as I´m on a budget I can only afford upgrading the ram up to 16GB or to buy an SSD of 250GB, what would you suggest to upgrade?, which of both would have more impact on the performance?.
Thank you very much!

If it's running a conventional (or hybrid) hard drive, the SSD will make much more of an overall impact than the memory upgrade.

There are a number of pitfalls:
The Dell system includes a proprietary wiring scheme and power supply connector - while you can use an adapter to overcome the latter, the former is not as easy to work with.
If you want to upgrade the case and power supply, figure on needing a replacement mainboard, heatsink assembly, and a retail copy of Windows (the OEM one won't work with a non-Dell board).  Essentially, you're building a new system, carrying over your CPU, memory, drives, mouse, keyboard and monitor.

It is a little strange you get such a message, because you really did not alter your hard drive, the files were just put in memory.

Do you think it is trying to continue the Windows 7 install, or some Dell Recovery utility activated and might be involved?

Do you have any recovery F key options that might help, maybe an F8 or whatever Dell uses?

HI,

I'm planning to upgrade my Dell Inspiron N5010 RAM from current 3GB(2+1) to 6 GB(2+4).
I heard that some Dell Inspiron Laptops require same RAM to be present in both slots so that the O.S can detect the installed RAM, else only one slot will be detected( ex: 4GB RAM (Usable 3GB)).
So, can I go ahead with having a 2GB RAM in one slot and 4GB RAM in another?
So, can you suggest me any best brand(verified by Dell) to purchase the RAM and also the recommended frequency it should be supporting?

Many thanks in advance!!!

A:RAM upgrade on Dell Inspiron N5010

Hi venkat_bollineni,
This system model supports a maximum of 8GB memory. Memory modules must be installed as a perfectly matched pair to take advantage of the dual-channel memory bus. If not a matched pair, the system's memory bus operates in a single-channel configuration. Basically, when both DIMM connectors are populated, the system has optimum dual-channel performance unless channels A and B have different amounts of memory.

hello i am currently using a dell inspiron 3847 which ive gotten a couple years back. Now that i plan to upgrade the gpu from a gt705 to a gtx1050ti,  i think i may need to upgrade the PSU as well.  Now i know that  there are other posts about this but i would like to ask if i could buy a corsair VS450W instead of the CORSAIR CS750M (which everyone is recommending) since its a little pricey for me. My current PSU(Dell PSU that came with it) is only 300W. My cpu is a core i5-4460. Thanks :)

A:PSU Upgrade for Dell inspiron 3847

There are specific models that I have tried and they work fine.
CORSAIR CS750M works   CORSAIR CX750 DOES NOT
lower power versions like the CS550M and CS650M do not have enough 3.3v/5v combined power.

EVGA NEX 750B works fine.
Power supplies that do not have 150W combined on the 3.3V/5V rails may not EVER work or may fail. Note the power ratings on each railThis label is from the NEX 750B1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438025

This is a label from a Dell 525w unit.  Note the ratings on EACH rail not just the total watts.

On many other vendors as the power goes up the 3.3V/5V rails max power GOES DOWN to 100W max.  However in the case of dell 875w unit the power goes UP to 225w on the 3.3V/5V rails.

This is what the NEX 750B1 looks like installed in an XPS 8500

A:Dell Inspiron 7559 ram upgrade

There's only one memory socket on this model, so an 8G isn't going to get you an upgrade.  You need a 16G module to upgrade.
These are available, but brace yourself of the price - they're expensive:
(as you can see, going from 8G to 16 causes the price of a module to rise by a factor about five).

A:Dell Inspiron 3847 - What to buy for SSD upgrade?

You cannot install an SSD as the boot Drive while the original drive is hooked up.
There will be issues.
You can install an ssd after upgrading DBAR to 1.7.5.64 and then making a 16 gig or larger usb flash recovery.
Then install the SSD
and then optimize it.
Then put the old drive back as a secondary.
I Usually recommend INTEL Retail drives for this so that you get Tools for optimization.

You can upgrade the RAM to 4G as 2X2G modules - 3G isn't advisable as it will disable the dual channel configuration.
You cannot upgrade to any video card at all - there is no socket in the system for any card.  Integrated video was and will forever remain the only option for this model.

I received a Dell Inspiron 600m for free. Has 1.6 GHz CPU and 80GB HDD.

Installed Windows 7 x86 and have all the correct drivers. Everything is working fine.

It is slow but not too bad with hard page faults high and CPU usage hitting 100% depending on activity.

Currently has 768GB memory @266MHz (it actually uses 333MHz but has a one 512GB stick @266 that reduces the overall speed).

I can upgrade the RAM to 2GB @333MHz for $46. (It also needs a nes battery but that is a secondary consideration.)

Intended usage is web-surfing, email and Word. Can anyone who has this model comment on whether the $46 will be worth it in terms of performance boost? It seems to be a pretty solid, though older, machine. A bit more "snap" in web surfing would make it fine for the intended usage....

A:Is memory upgrade for Inspiron 600m worth it?

I'd say don't bother. What you should do is Install XP, or the original version of Windows that came on it using the License key on the COA sticker.

Win 7 take a lot of resources, much more then XP, and really isn't meant to be run on that model notebook.

XP will work just fine for your intended usage of that system.

A:Question about memory upgrade for my Inspiron 17R (7720)

The memory is designed to run in matched pairs, but that's not required -- you CAN use mis-matched modules with a slight performance reduction.  That said, going beyond 8G isn't going to net you any performance boost unless you're running an unusually memory-intensive application.
.If the system is running a  conventional hard drive, replacing it with a solid state drive will net you far more of a performance boost.

Hi, this may seem like a stupid question, but I recently got the entry level Inspiron 13, 5000 series (i3, 4gb Ram). I want to upgrade the memory as it's a bit sluggish. Dell's site said this model only has one Ram slot. I've been told it actually has two. I'm a clumsy oaf and don't want to open the case unnecessarily (and break those awkward little clicky 'lips'). Can anyone tell me if there is one slot or two?

I ask because, if there is just the one, I'll go for 16, if it's two, I'll go for an 8 to make a total of 12.
Cheers,
Dave

Check the service manual at dell support. Go Here for memory configuration.
Adding memory to a laptop will work better if you match the ram. If it has 2 slots replace both or match the one it has.
Here is the service manual for the Ins 13 5368 2 in 1--

A:Upgrade RAM for Laptop DELL INSPIRON 14R N4010.

Hi Ho Xu Zhe,
The Inspiron N4010 system supports dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM SODIMM with memory speeds of 1333 MHz.

Yes Kingston Brand RAM Memory ( KVR13S9S8/4) is compatible with your system. You can install both 2GB DDR3 RAM on slot 1 and Kingston memory on slot 2.
1600MHz clock speed memory is not compatible your system.

Please let us know if you have any queries.

Hey,
I have a Dell inspiron 15 5548 with a regular lcd (1366x768) and I am planning on upgrading my lcd to a better lcd (1920x1080). On eBay I've found different 1920x1080 lcd screens (touch and non-touch). Is it possible to upgrade to a 1920x1080 touchscreen with my motherboard?
Kind regards,
Thomas

A:Dell inspiron 15 5548 touchscreen upgrade

To upgrade the resolution, you'll need the screen AND most likely a new wiring harness (very rarely does one harness work with both resolutions).
To upgrade to a touchscreen, you basically need the entire top half of the system - screen complete with wiring harness, bezel, back cover and hinges -- these parts are not interchangeable with non-touch systems.

A few days I ago I bought the Inspiron 580 with the i3-550 processor at a good price at one of the local stores that is close to my home. I really don't want to use the onboard video card because its does a poor job for cleaning up streaming video on the internet. I would like to know what video card is recommended for my use. I want a entry level dedicated video card that has decent video processing and also I want to know if there is a way to disable the onboard video when I get a new video card?

A:Dell Inspiron 580: Which Video Card Upgrade

gregpod9 I want a entry level dedicated video card that has decent video processing
You get what you pay for, an "entry level" video card may not be any better than the on-board video, if that is the real problem with streaming video.
The 580 has a PCIeX16 slot for an add on video card.  The stock power supply is only a 300 watt which will somewhat limit you on choices of "HD Video" cards.  The manual does not detail it, that I can find, but on most the BIOS will autodetect a PCIeX16 slot video card and make that the default.  On models that do not autodetect, you can manually change that in the Setup (F2 at POST to access the Setup (BIOS)).

Hiya Ladies and Gents,

I got to hand a Dell Inspirion One 19T that has been upgraded from Win 8 to win 10.  The speakers have a nice big red cross through them and keep saying that there's no issue and to plug in speakers or headphones.
What I have done so far...
Updated Audio device drivers
Updated Reltek HD codec and general drivers
Checked in BIOS to make sure the on board audio device is enabled
Windows updates
Uninstalled the driver and restarted
Uninstalled the driver and installed from fresh download
Sacrificed a top end calculator to the God of electronics

The last two things I can think of being the issue are...
a) Audio card knackered
b) Restore to win 8 and then NOT doing the update

Any suggestions other than those????
