installed intel ac3160 dual band + bluetooth system wont allow bluetooth to star

Q: installed intel ac3160 dual band + bluetooth system wont allow bluetooth to star

installed intel ac-3160 dual band + blue tooth in a Sony notebook system wont allow blue tooth to start.
also there is no interface available to connect any hardware to it, i know it has something to do with some Vaio software on the system.
it allows me to use dual band mode and it shows that blue tooth is present but disables it claiming interference with 2.4 GHz band.
now i have had blue tooth dongles installed working while using 2.4 GHz band before with no issues, so i don't get the issue now.
any input would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just upgraded my laptop wireless adapter from "Broadcom BCM43142" to "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac" upon confirmed that the new card is supported from service manual.  Both latest Intel wireless and bluetooth drivers are installed (18.33.0.2 and 18.1.1611.3223 respectively). AC connection works perfectly fine; however, the bluetooth seems to be having issue here.  For pairing and maintain active connection between bluetooth device and laptop, I have to put them right next to each other literally.  Any distance more than 10cm apart, the bluetooth device will be inactive and unusable.  I don't have such problem with Broadcom which I can perform pairing and maintain active connection even a meter apart.  Does anybody face the same issue before with Intel AC 3160 bluetooth?  Or is this a hardware issue with the card itself?

Hi @cfc723, Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand from your posts that you are having an issue with your HP Pavilion 15-p041tx Notebook and the new Wireless card you installed. The only one that was compatible in the service manual for a Intel processor was the Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi adapter.  Here is a link to the service manual. Thanks.

No. Sorry. That model still has the HP BIOS whitelist which will prevent the laptop from booting if anything other than officially sanctioned wireless cards are installed. None of the approved devices is an ac type receiver. Some are combination wifi/bluetooth. Post back if you are interested in locating and installing one of them.

My school has now only got 5ghz wireless and now my laptop doesn't see the wireless network as a result. To fix this I need to upgrade my laptops wireless single band WirelessN card to a dual band AC card with bluetooth preferrably. I don't care if it is an original HP card so long as it fits properly and works. My laptop has an I7 quad core in it, 1 gig DDR5 graphics, 4gig RAM, 15.6" screen.

Also, is my system eligible for Win 10 upgrade? It says upgrade now or later but I have friends with the upgrade making their system freeze, corrupt recovery partitions and refuse to restore. Any help I would LOVE! Oh! Also, How would one partition part of their HDD to be used as RAM and is that even a good idea? I'm learning.

Hi: You can't use an Intel wireless card in a computer with AMD hardware.  That is why it doesn't work.  And there is nothing you can do to make it work. Plus your notebook has to have 2 wireless antennas or you can't upgrade the wireless card at all unless you take the whole notebook apart including the display panel to add a second antenna. If your notebook has two antennas, and if you want a dual band wireless N card, you need to get a Broadcom one. Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2×2 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter --  HP Part # 730668-001

Hey guys and girls. First post in the forum here I'm about to upgrade some parts on my Pav G6 1344sa, namely replace the HDD with a SSD and replace the DVD drive with the HDD, replace the tired keyboard for a new one and upgrade the wifi card for a 5G dual band so i can untilize the speed of my newly installed fibre broadband. After a bit of research i have read there maybe issues getting the Intel AC 7260 card i just ordered to work in this notebook. Can anyone confirm if it will work? I read that some users have used a tweak of covering pin 20 and/or pin 51 with tape to make it compatible, anyone tried this or can explain how this works? Cheers

A:Intel AC 7260 Dual band wi-fi card compatibility

No it will not work and the covering of the pins is actually a Lenovo trick that I have never seen anybody recommend for an HP. I would think it will not work since the problem is a whitelist. The card has to prove to the BIOS what it is, not hide what it is from the BIOS so stopping the identification data from being read will just cause the wifi card to be rejected by the BIOS. As stated, there is a BIOS whitelist and only the specific HP branded wifi cards originally offered with the laptop will pass and allow the system to boot past BIOS. If you want that list just post back.

A:Intel dual band wireless-ac 7260 Compatability

Hi: From the several posts I have read on the forum you should have no problem installing any wireless card you want in your notebook, as it appears that HP has done away with the BIOS whitelisting of wireless cards. Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. Memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=7582630& Now, I have some bad news for you... You will void the warranty if you install a wireless card or memory yourself. Unfortunately, you have to pretty much take the whole notebook apart to get to the hard drive, memory and wireless card.  You can refer to chapters 5 and 6 of the service manual for the removal and replacement procedures.

Hi! First of all, I'm sorry if my English is bad. My laptop is running on Windows 8.1 Single Language. I just bought this about a month ago and I'm having this weird problem.

Cases that my network adapter connects to my computer:
1.) After restart
2.) When the network adapter successfully starts and then shut the computer down then start it again

Cases that my network adapter does not connect to my computer:
1.) Turning the computer on after a few hours from the last shutdown

I have done the following things:
1.) Update the driver
2.) Not allowing the computer to turn off the network adapter
3.) Uninstall and reinstall network adapter
4.) Release and renew IPv4 address
5.) Disable Proset services
6.) Disable Bluetooth driver and services
7.) Set WLAN AutoConfig to automatically start

Is this a hardware related problem or a driver problem? Do you know how to fix this?

Thanks!

Not enough information regarding which model of wireless adapter you have, what mfg & model of router/gateway. Download Speccy from piriform.com and post the URL it gives you after you run the tool.

Hi!I am planning to purcahse an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 mini-PCI card for my Lenovo Z710. My Z710 recently does have an Intel Wireless-N 7260 wifi card which is non-dual therefore does not cooperate with my router on 5.0 GHz (only 2.4 MHz). My concern is that according to some comments on the Internet Lenovo blocks the 5.0 GHz option of the Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260. Can you confirm or deny? I would appreciate any comments on that issue. Thanks. Zoltan

I have Lenovo y700 gaming laptop. It has windows 10 home operating system. Since past few weeks wireless adapter(Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165) is showing abnormal behavior. Many times wireless/wifi available connections list becomes empty. I have tried installing latest drivers from both Lenovo and Intel website against Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 adapter. I suspect windows 10 updates has done something wrong. Sometimes after trying installing drivers again and again fix the issue but appears again after few restarts.

Hey guys,

So i spent the entire day trying to figure out why my Bluetooth installed fine but after one restart it disappeared and it wouldn't come back. I finally figured it out that the FN+F2 (wireless/bluetooth switches) is what enables/disabled it HAHAHAHAHA.

default (after startup): WiFi on / BT off
first time: WiFi on / BT ON yay~!
second time: WiFi off / BT on
third time: WiFi off / BT off

and repeat.

I hope this helps people with their bluetooth issues =)

Windows 8 was able to install all my Function Keys so I'm going to assume this will be the case for others. Good luck

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite L745-S4235. I replaced the wlan card with a new Intel 6235 dual band mini pcie card because my router only broadcasts the N band on 5ghz.

The hardware install was a breeze but I am having trouble loading the bluetooth driver. Wifi works perfectly, but I cannot get the bluetooth driver to install / my computer to recognize that I have a bluetooth option!

Could anyone help me with getting a driver that works for Windows 7 Home Premium? My computer did not originally come with a wlan card that had bluetooth so I am not sure if this is even possible but I would think that installing a wlan card with bluetooth should give me this option.

Has anyone else tried installing this card and had problems? Is there a different driver I should try?

Any and all comments are much appreciated!

Thanks,

Scott

Has anyone run into a problem installing the intel bluetooth drivers? I have t450s with win7 64. Every time I try to install either via system update or intel's own installer, I get this error saying a problem and a program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. ? So it can't install. But then because it failed, I get error messages at startup where dll loader tried to start btmshellex.dll because the file is misssing. And it is not in the program filesx86/intel/bluetooth folder because the install failed. But the failed installer must have set a program to run at startup. Anyone else seen this and know how to make it install? Thanks!

I don't see it listed in the spec sheet, nor the user guide.

On both of my android 4.2 devices, Bluetooth is listed after Wi-fi in Settings. I would think it's the same w/ android 4.1. It's possible the tablet doesn't have bluetooth.

Hello!

I recently installed the latest version of the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack (v9.10.32T) for one of my desired applications to properly function. However, connecting my Bluetooth headphones through Toshiba's bluetooth manager does not seem to support the media buttons on the headset. These include Play/Pause and seek buttons. Before the Bluetooth stack, when I used my default bluetooth driver for connection, these controls had worked fine.

Also, there does not seem to be a specific setting to fix this in the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack Options.
How would I go about getting these controls back?

So I had this Bluetooth mouse that I only used occasionally. After installing Windows 8, I tried turning it on only to find that it was wasn't functioning. So, naturally I thought of pairing it once more. Unfortunately, the god damn thing just wont show up! I have a feeling it's because I had that mouse as an active device when I was on Windows 7. Anyway to get this to show.

I have a feeling completely removing any traces of the mouse might get it to work again. But I don't know how to do that. I removed it from Device Manager's Bluetooth Devices' section but that didn't do the trick. Furthermore, the Mouse Settings' Bluetooth Tab still lists my mouse as a functioning device although it doesn't show up in the Control Panel's Bluetooth Device list.

PS: The Mouse has no issues. It works fine on my Friends system on Windows 8.

Hi,

Update Bluetooth drivers to latest, and then also the mouse drivers to latest.

If this is a Razer device as your screen name alludes to, be prepared for the possibility of multiple bsods a day. Razer is good for that, for sure. Maybe you'll luck out and they've actually fixed their drivers by now instead of putting fake dates on their webpage that make it look like ancient drivers are new.

However, I can't seem to get Bluetooth to work.  It doesn't detect any bluetooth devices.  I tried installing the Dell/Intel Bluetooth driver/update, but that didn't seem to do anything either.
I guess my questions are; does anyone else have experience with this?  Should I have Bluetooth?  If so, what am I doing wrong that it's not working?
I did check the BIOS, and Bluetooth does appear as an option, and it is enabled.
Thanks.

A:Bluetooth not working? Not installed?

If you check your Network & Adapter Settings do you see an option for "Bluetooth Network Connection"? To check do the following:

Open Control Panel and click on Network & Internet subgroup, then Network & Sharing Center
On the left click on "Change Adapter Settings"
"Bluetooth Network Connection" should be the 1st or 2nd option

If it is there Right Click and you can use the first option "View Bluetooth Network Devices" to sync Bluetooth devices by clicking on "Add a Device" in the new window that opens
You should also check Properties, as the discovery option is disabled by default. Right Click on Bluetooth Network Connection, Select Properties, Click on the Bluetooth Tab, then click on Bluetooth Settings to see if the box next to "Allow Bluetooth Devices to find this PC" is checked off or not.
I'd also suggest looking at Device Manager and checking if Bluetooth Device appears under Network Adapters

A:no "onboard bluetooth installed"

This means that you computer does not have any bluetooth capability built in. The easiest fix is to invest in a 'bluetooth dongle' that fits in one of your USB ports. They can range anywhere from 5 USD to about 25 USD depending on range of operation and quality of device.

Hello, Since a few weeks,  I haven't been able to use my bluetooth speaker anymore. I used to simply connect (Bluetooth Devices -> My speaker -> Services -> Listen to music) but the "Listen to music" link is now grey and disabled : impossible to click it.I investigated a bit and realized that the "Intel Wireless Bluetooth" driver was not correctly installed. I tried to uninstall, repair, reinstall it, but couldn't do any of these actions, I always got an error message near the end of the installation process.I'm pretty sure this is the problem : I checked the device manager and discovered 16 "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" with a warning icon in the "Other devices" category ... Doesn't look good, right ? Is anyone struggling with the same issues ? Have you found a way to fix it ? Thanks a lot for any help. Best, Sylvain E.K.

My Intel Centrino dual-function Bluetooth card is built into my GIGABYTE GA-H N-WIFI LGA Intel H motherboard Upon updating all Bluetooth Centrino barely 2230 mic Intel audible, Bluetooth amp Wi-Fi drivers all-in-one card I was able to get my VXi BlueParrot B -XT to connect as a VoIP headset There's one major issue however the input is incredibly distorted and low-level If I yell through the microphone I hear a buzzing noise but otherwise Bluetooth mic barely audible, Intel Centrino 2230 the output from the speakers is virtually silent This is all with the microphone gain maxed out Turning the gain down does nothing but silence the microphone entirely I understand why I tried to talk to Bluetooth mic barely audible, Intel Centrino 2230 my sister over Skype and she said that she heard low-level distortion and nothing else This headset works well with my phone and has no issues pairing with the PC or phone Whatever it is must be in the PC I tried a USB Bluetooth dongle and was able to get great input from the microphone but then the dongle stopped working The adapter simply just quit This was not due to interference Bluetooth mic barely audible, Intel Centrino 2230 from other Bluetooth equipment or software as neither was operational while the dongle was installed I would very much like help with this issue as I purchased the motherboard with the intent to use the on-board Bluetooth and it seems that USB Bluetooth dongles just don't last based on my experience and the experiences of reviewers across the 'net Thank you for any and all assistance with this issue

Hoping for some assistance Intel Bluetooth Driver is not functioning well when deploying the driver as an app via MDT Task Sequence.   I am running into issue when using MDT Lite Touch 2013. Even though I have been able to import this driver as an app the outcome is still not good. I imported it as an appI am using silent syntax "InstMultiPkg.exe" /silentThis installs as a mandatory application for model 840 G3.I can verify the install is successful from my MDT log with return code 0. Once 840 G3 does final restart, i log on, i verify in Device Manager and it says "Generic Bluetooth Adapter". I am not sure what I am missing. I am not sure if there is some dependency of installing some other HP application though I have tried this manually and it works just fine.

A:Bluetooth Dongle Not Detecting Bluetooth Mobile

Hi Sri, Welcome to 8 forums.
On windows type "msconfig" in search field at the start menu and open MSconfig. Go to the Services Tab and search for services related to Bluetooth. If any of them are unchecked they will not load on Windows start so make sure you have checked them.

Keep us posted.

In windows 10 mobile, I can go into my bluetooth devices, and 'disconnect' a specific device. In Windows 10, I can only 'remove' the device (which I don't want to do) or turn off BlueTooth altogether.
Does anybody know a way to just disconnect a device? For instance, I want to have my headphones connect to my phone instead of the PC.

A:How to disconnect a bluetooth device without turning off bluetooth.

'Remove device' is probably not the best choice of words they could have used on this! When you close the process (i.e. 'disconnect' your headphones) on your PC, you are performing the same function as what you describe on your phone. You are not actually removing the device, just closing the process. I hope that makes sense!

I bought a bluetooth dongle which for some reason isn't working in Windows 7. It shows up in Devices and Printers as "CSR Bluetooth Chip" and when I right click on it and select bluetooth settings, nothing happens. It shows up under Bluetooth Radios in device manager. As a test I tried using it in a Windows 10 VM. When connecting the USB dongle via VirtualBox it was referred to as "Uknnown device 0A12:0001 [134]" and it worked just fine in the VM. Any clue as to what is wrong?

Probably Windows 10 replaced the original Bluetooth driver with Microsoft driver which doesn't work well, if at all. Go to manufacturer's site and download the Bluetooth driver. If there is no Windows 10 driver, use that of 8.1 This should fix your connectivity problems.

Hello I have an issue with my Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter Bluetooth LIT Adapter's USB Is Bluetooth OFF? Light IS When Blue - Version Class Smart Ready Adapter Model No MUA-BA Let me explain Okay I have setup my Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter with the drivers for my Windows operating system USB Bluetooth Adapter's Blue Light IS LIT When Bluetooth Is OFF? Now when I plug this USB Bluetooth adapter into my USB port connector on my desktop computer it automatically lights up with a blue light on the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter itself and on my Windows system tray notification area I get the Bluetooth icon displayed as ON Then I go ahead and pair the computer and my device s example a Smartphone to connect which they do successfully When I am done using the Bluetooth technology I disconnect the Bluetooth connection from each device and then instead of leaving your USB Bluetooth adapter ON with my Windows operating system I go into my Windows system tray notification area and select Turn Adapter OFF I then get the red Bluetooth icon in my Windows system tray notification area demonstrating that my Bluetooth is indeed OFF and the Bluetooth blue light on the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter goes OFF or is not lit any longer Okay so far so good everything is normal However when I shutdown my Windows operating system and then restart the computer at some later point I notice that the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter still shows on my Windows system tray notification area as OFF okay normal BUT THE BLUE LIGHT ON THE MEDIA LINK USB BLUETOOTH ADAPTER IS NOW ON The only way I can turn off the blue light on the USB Bluetooth adapter is to manually go through the Windows system tray notification area turn ON the Bluetooth technology and then promptly turn back OFF the Bluetooth technology in order for the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter s blue light to go OFF again I find this to be a real pain and chore each time to have to go through these manual steps to turn OFF that Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter s blue light when the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter s blue light SHOULD BE OFF TO BEGIN WITH I would assume after the system re- start and leaving the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter plugged into the USB port connector on my desktop computer if the Bluetooth technology is indeed OFF as set with the Windows operating system settings then the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter s blue light should be OFF as well BUT IT IS NOT I have no intention of consistently plugging in and out the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter when I plan on using it or not but instead leaving the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter always plugged into the my USB port connector on my desktop computer at all times and using the Windows system tray notification area s Bluetooth icon to turn ON and OFF the Bluetooth technology when needed I have contacted Medialink Mediabridge and they have informed me the rationale for this issue quot The only reason the light would be lit is if the bus power from that USB port was running I they looked for ways to manage the bus power settings of the USB host but was unable to find anywhere in the Control Panel that would allow you to adjust that particular setting quot Makes perfect sense to me that the bus power for the USB port is ALWAYS RUNNING and the computer starts the USB ports are powered and therefore the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter is always lit at system start until I turn off the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter via Window 's system tray notification area Specifically the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter is connected to one of the USB ports on the front of my desktop computer The front desktop USB port connects to one of the USB pin connectors on my ASUS P Q motherboard Further I have an OLDER ASUS P Q motherboard that does NOT support Bluetooth as part of its BIOS settings -- PRE-Bluetooth capability Therefore I installed the software on my Windows Professional -bit and drivers that came with my Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapt... Hello everyone, from Snowy Michigan.
My HP Pavilion p7-1446s Desktop came installed with Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g/n.
I already have an N Router.
Anyone want to offer suggestions on how you might use these features? if you had them .
I had been looking at Streaming Players for my TV, like Roku, Netgear or Western Digital...and then I found out about gadgets that stream a Wi-Fi from my PC to the TV, like McTivia or Warpia.
My PC is in the basement and the TV around 15 ft. away.
All thoughts are appreciated.

I had earlier posted this in Networks & Sharing, but wanted it in General Support.
Sorry if this causes any issues.

Also it's often used to play music with Bluetooth speakers...

There's a lot you can do with Bluetooth, even connect your phone to your PC and fling files between the two.

I have an HP ENVY Ts15 Notebook PC.  Product #  E1P05AV.   I tried to find ways to connect to bluetooth device but can not find a place to turn or switch the bluetooth.  Does my notebook come with the bluetooth enabled hardware? Augustine

A:Can not turn on Bluetooth? Is it installed in my Notebook?

Hi, Augustine: Some models have bluetooth networking and some don't. It all depends on what model wireless network adapter each notebook model has. Some wireless network adapters are also combination bluetooth adapters and some aren't. If you post the name and model number of the wireless network adapter your notebook has, I will let you know if that card is wireless only, or wireless/bluetooth. If you don't know what model wireless network adapter your notebook has, go to the device manager, and click to expand the network adapters device category. There you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

A:bluetooth driver installed-something went wrong.

There are a few things that can cause this problem but the most likely cause is the Apple Bonjour service. To fix that problem perform the following steps.
Run msconfig "command prompt"
Select Services tab
Uncheck the service Bonjour Service,> Under the Services tab uncheck the service called "##Id_String1.6844[... and then a bunch of numbers]" by Apple

Other problems with an unidentified network can be fixed by following the link below.

The other thing that causes this is a messed up Mac address. You can change it if you need too.

A:Can't Uninstall Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software or Bluetooth(R) Tech

Hello Sava, go to following link and run the microsoft fixit program on that site and tell it to try and uninstall the intel software. I had exactly the same problem and it managed to uninstall the software (it took several minutes to do it!). I have not yet re-attempted to install Windows 8 yet because it took so long to solve all the issues with incompatible software, however I am optimistic! How to troubleshoot problems when you install or uninstall programs on a Windows-based computer Hope it works for you. martin armstrong, PS I now have Windows 8 installed!
