Acer Aspire 7551G NO BOOT

Q: Acer Aspire 7551G NO BOOT

Hi, my Acer Aspire 7551G laptop switches on butthe screen does not turn on (tried VGA to TV connection but no signal). I'm thinking it's a corrupt BIOS.So I need to flash the BIOS. I downloaded the BIOS from the Acer drivers pageand there are these files in the DOS folder (I have to use DOS since I can't get into Windows because no boot) ACERACDC.exeFLASH.batJE70D118.ROMJE70D118.WPHphlash16.exe I've tried copying/pasting these files onto USBand even tried the CRISIS DISK methodbut neither are giving the laptop any response. The USB light does NOT blinkeven if I hold the FN + Esc keys. What am I doing wrong? Please advise. Do I have to rename the .WPH file to some model specifc name? What is the code for this model?

Preferred Solution: Acer Aspire 7551G NO BOOT

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I can't find driver for aspire 6551g dvd rw, it quit working after windows 10 install...please help

A:aspire 7551g dvd rw quit working with windows 10

Easiest to tryOpen DVD drive, put in a DVD, close and reboot. You can open the drive with a pin or paper clip through hole in front. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/314060Resolution #5 works the most. Go into device manager, under IDE ATA/ATAPI, uninstall both channels 0 and 1. Reboot immediately. When it reloads, your lost DVD player should now be there.

I restarted my computer like normal and for whatever reason the computer is now stuck at the Acer boot screen. I try to press DEL to enter Setup and I even tried pressing F12 to go into the Boot Setup, but for whatever reason the computer does not respond to anything.

To shut it off I have to hold down the power button and eventually it shuts off.

Stuff to know:
- I have a wireless mouse and keyboard being used on that desktop.. Should I perhaps try to plug in a corded mouse and keyboard?
- I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate.
Thanks

I have tried everything I can think of I have already read through a few other threads with the same issue but none of the fixes work for me It gets to the acer screen logo not boot Acer will Acer Aspire E15 past loads that little loading circle then it just goes black I have tried pushing Alt F and it got to the acer screen and said please wait then the screen went black again I have installed Windows on a USB drive and have went into the bios and enabled the boot menu as well as change the order Acer Aspire E15 will not boot past Acer logo of the boot to the USB This got me a bit closer but still stuck After about minutes it finally went to a purple screen and a window popped up asking to install I selected my language and clicked install it went to another screen that says setup is starting and it's been sitting this way for about minutes now I'm out of ideas Don't have a clue why this is going on This is a friend of mines computer he said he was in the middle of playing a game and the laptop froze then something came up and then it shut off When it booted up it wouldn't load past the acer screen

A:Acer Aspire E15 will not boot past Acer logo

Try booting to Memtest86 you can burn a CD and I think it can also be run from a USB bootable flash drive. This will test your memory for problems and also let you know that the hardware in general will run (except the hard drive which is ignored at this stage. If the memory is good, then boot to your hard drive mfg's utility or Seatools from Seagate (DOS version) the same as Memtest but it tests your hard drive to see if it is just the drive that you cannot install on.If the memory and hard drive tests OK then you may just need to delete all current partitions on the hard drive before trying to install. If the memory does not test good, try cleaning the contacts on the memory with a soft pencil eraser and snapping them in and out 5 or 6 times to also burnish the slot's contacts. Then try memtest again on one stick at a time in case one stick is bad, swap and try again. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

My son's Acer Aspire AM5100 won't start. Fans didn't even start. Opened, found tons of crud on CPU heat sink, removed fan, cleaned off heat sink, replace fan. Still no start. Removed CMOS for one hour, held power button on for one minute. Fans finally started but no boot. No beep. Reseated all plugs, removed and reinstalled RAM. No burn marks on Mobo. What next?

Thinking that it would help, I turned it off and turned it back on. Now it won't boot past the acer logo. It gets to the green acer logo and just stays like that. Can someone please help? This is the only laptop I have and will have fir a while.

i don't think that you are able to select windows 7 or 8.1 from BIOS, maybe it's a bootloader that gives you that option. press Del to enter BIOS and check if D2D support is enabled, if not, enabled it and then press F10, save and exit.at next reboot, press Alt+F10 to enter Acer erecovery, if this doesn't work, you need to buy Acer recovery disks. Acer recovery mediaif you are in the US you can buy it:http://us-store.acer.com/erecovery/rcd/if you are outside the US, you must call/email your regional Acer support service:http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/

I've had the netbook for about 2 years, and it has performed very well.

One night I shut it down normally and the next morning when I turned it on windows XP Home edition started normal for about 20 secs, and a fast blue screen comes up which I can't read.

Then a b&w screen comes up saying windows could not start, and gave me several options. I've tried them all.

What happens is windows tries starting but I always come back to the black and white screen.

I can't get into safe mode.

I have the factory restore disks, but don't want to lose the data on the hdd.

Is the hdd toast?

A:Acer Aspire One won't boot

On the Safe Mode menu there is an option to disable the automatic reboot. That will allow you to check the blue screen for error codes.

When you say you can't get into safe mode does that mean you get the blue screen when booting to safe mode also?

Chances are the data is fine but there's no way to know without additional testing.

Hey gang,
I have an acer aspire axc-603g that is stuck in a loop boot after running windows updates. I can't get it to boot to a Hiren's CD or USB drive. I've tried disabling secure boot in the bios and enabling the boot menu but whenever I access the boot menu the only option that shows up is "windows boot manager" which then sends me back into the boot loop. The bios version is P11-B0
I'm at a loss and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an Acer Aspire M1100 that I bought for my late wife in 2008. It has been sitting in the corner of my living room virtually untouched for 6-9 months. I have not used it as it is using Windows Vista and is incredibly slow in comparison to my laptop.

I have recently decided to try and sell it as I need the space but it refuses to boot up. I switch it on and occassionally the monitor flashes up ACER followed by NO SIGNAL but does nothing else. I have tried different monitors on it and checked all the connections but always get the same result. I can hear the internal fans whirring and the 'on' light comes on but nothing else.

Any suggestions?

Hello folks,

My sister's Acer Aspire 3002LMI has recently ceased to power on whatsoever. Bought in '05 and run mostly from the mains, it suddenly acted as though it was running out of battery - despite being plugged into the mains - and went into hibernation.

By the time she showed it to me, pressing the power button would just make the battery charge LED flash 8 times - nothing else. Now, a few days later, absolutely nothing happens when I press the power button.

The problem occurs regardless of whether the battery is in the laptop. She never used the laptop without the battery in - as it formed part of the base - so whether it ever worked without the battery is not certain. I've also tried using another power cable, to no avail.

So, any ideas what the cause of this problem could be? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Rob

Several months ago, i was using my acer aspire 5100 laptop when the mouse suddenly stopped moving and the computer became unresponsive. When i restarted it it worked for about 30 seconds and the same thing happened. I've removed the operating system and initially, i was able to re-install it, only to find the same problem. I then wiped the hard drive using a boot CD and now it won't even boot from disk. Also, it froze when installing windows xp (I think this was the same issue as when it initially broke), and for a while it came up with a PXE-61 error which now no longer appears.
The laptop managed to run linux ubuntu for about a week no problem until the same error occurred.
any tips would be great

Thanks

Hi,

I have a Acer Aspire, which had a boot issue, so it wasn't able to boot correctly into Windows Vista Home Basic.

I ran the Acer Recovery by pressing F11 at boot time. And it was able to recover and boot into Windows Vista.

However after the automatic Acer Launch Install and a some smaller Windows Updates, the computer have the same boot problem as before.

I have tried to run Windows Vistas Startup recovery thingy, without luck.

Have anyone faced this problem before or know what may be causing it?

Well I've got this problem and couldn't find any solution in here that helped me.

I've formatted the C disk where windows 8 was on and then tried to install windows 7 from with a boot USB.
Did didn't work. I've tried literally everything.

1. I've the right boot order.
2. I've turned of secure boot.
3. I've tried it with a DVD.
4. The USB and DVD boot both work on my laptop.

It looks like whatever I do I always get this text in my screen:

"Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected device and press a key"

Has anyone any idea what this can be? It gets really frustrating that this PC is unresponsive to any change and will not boot anything. Much thanks for the help in advance.

A:Acer Aspire XC-603 Boot problems

Work through these steps to Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums

It sounds like your boot media is not formatted correctly. If you have UEFI BIOS then flash stick must be formatted using only Option 1 of UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows
and must then be booted only as a UEFI device. Delete all partitions to clear formatting and install.

If problems persist report back any BIOS settings related to UEFI, CSM, Legacy BIOS, Secure Boot, and BIOS Boot Priority order. Pictures will help. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums - Windows 7 Forums

A:Acer Aspire boot issues

Have you installed SP1 and Sp2 and subsequent updates?

Since the CD lights come one and then nothing afterwards, it sounds like a hard drive problem. I'm assuming the CD drive is the first boot device in the BIOS.

My Acer Aspire R14 laptop went completely blank a few weeks ago. When I unpluged the power cord, it started right up, but the moment I plugged the power cord back in it would shut down. The battery soon died this way, because it would not charge. I removed the battery then the it started up with the power cord. I thought it must be the battery, so I installed a new battery. that did nothing to change the problem. So, I ordered a new motherboard and after a few weeks, I recieved it today, installed it, and I still have the same thing. It works well with the power cord plugged in as long as the battery is disconnected. But the moment I connect the battery, everything shuts down, not to be revived unless I disconnect the battery.  I need help!! What could be the problem?

Ok, so my just over a year old laptop fell off of my bed today. When trying to turn on the black acer screen comes up and a few seconds later it restarts. I have tried f 8, just beeps, f 12 still nothing but beeping, alt 10 same. I have tried removing the harddrive and starting it, still nothing. I then tried removing the ram one at a time, still nothing. Could the mother board off went bad? Any ideas? Thanks

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire 3680 and yesterday, when I tried to boot up, it gives a black screen, no images, prompts, sounds etc. I can hear the fan and the lights on the front are on.

I have read many posts and tried some things but I am now lost. I have tried;

*Plugging in external monitor - cannot get anything on second screen
*Taking out battery, draining power, restarting numerous time - no luck
*Hitting function keys to try to get to set-up screen - no luck

The memory is very full (close to capacity) althouh I'm not sure if this is related.

I have read in some posts about dowloading BIOS files on a memory stick but I can't find any information specific to the 3680.

Thanks in advance for your help. I really need to get booted up so I can recover and backup a lot of personal files and photos.

Regards

A:Vista will not boot - Acer Aspire

Are you hitting the F8 key early enough, you should start to tap on it as soon as the Acer logo dissapears.

You have set the USB CDROM to first in the boot order, are you using an external CD drive? The drive in the laptop will not be listed as a USB device, you need to set the internal CD drive to 1st in the boot order.

You can buy a device called a USB Hard Drive Adapter for about €10. If you get one you can remove your hard drive and use this device to connect it to another PC. You can then extract all your files and run some diagnostics on the drive which I can give instructions for.

If the copy of Vista you have does not exactly match your version of Vista and is at the same service pack level, or higher, it will not work. It should boot the laptop but you will not be able to use it for any kind of repair as it will produce an error. You can download a Vist repair disc for your version from here: http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/

Just checked the above link and downloads are suspended but may be back soon.

Hello,

I have an acer aspire 5100 that does not even boot. It crashes early and tries to reboot without success. None of the other booting modes work either, all crash early. I can go to the bios with f2 and something seems strange. In the boot priority order, I have:
1: IDE 0: TSHIBA MK6034GAX-(PM)
2: IDE 1: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T10N-(P
3: SATA:
4: PCI BEV: Realtek Boot Agent
5: USB HDD:
etc. usb all empty.

Shouldn't the hard drive be in SATA?
I don't know how to solve the problem. A boot disk maybe?
Thanks,
Serge.

We have a netbook that crashed this afternoon - went to the wall paper when we were doing a virus scan

Did the scan - found the virus - deleted the virus - computer monitor went to the wallpaper.

Netbook has been shut down and started back up, several times. Now we get the wallpaper.

I can push F12 and start it in safe mode. But there are no icons and right clicking on the mouse does not bring up the normal menu,

Control Alt Delete brings up the task manager that shows a bunch of stuff happening - but none are shown as icons on the desktop. There is no task bar at the bottom either.

ANY help you can offer - would REALLY be appreciated

Thank you

I need your help people I have a practically brand new ACER ASPIRE month old max and I was experiencing some reboot failures and also having problems turning the computer on how's that Well for example when rebooting the computer it did not turn back on kept a black screen no sounds in other words wasn't booting So I manually turned it off by holding down the power button and then back on sometimes it took a couple of tries to make it work but usually that did the job The same logic goes for powering it on form the start Now at this moment the computer won't boot up at any means not that I know of I noticed that the HDD light isn't blinking at all So I though that maybe for some reason the computer could not access the HDD the other LED indicators lt is that correct aren't blinking either actually they blink just one time when I hit the power button and then stop The power button stays on So I did some research and found that it could be a BIOS problem the solution I found is for the Acer Aspire One notebook therefore I couldn't figure out a way to make that work on the didn't even try 'cause I know how risky messing with the BIOS is -- Quite a text right there hum Okay so here I'm Can anybody help me please I honestly don't won't Aspire 4553 boot Acer up know what else to do BTW here are the articles I found http apevere blogspot com ck-screen Acer Aspire 4553 won't boot up html http en kioskea net forum affich- -won-t-boot-up A little more research and I found that this problem is called quot The Black Screen of Death quot motherfukc sorry Found this site http www acerlaptoprepairs info there are a few articles showing how to recovery the bios and stuff but there is none regarding my model I'm honestly giving up hope I'm running out of time too Am I in the wrong section 'Cause nobody seems to have interest in helping me

A:Acer Aspire 4553 won't boot up

Well first, if this is a new laptop it is under warranty and you should first attempt to return it for replacement or repair. Making major changes on your own may void that warranty.

If the laptop will not boot at all you could try a power reset:
To perform a power reset:
Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter or the power cord from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button on the computer down for 30 seconds and then release the button.
Plug in the AC adapter or power cord again, reinsert the battery, and power on the computer.
The BIOS upgrades for the 4553 show corrections to a no-boot situation, so you may be on the right track with a need for a BIOS upgrade (but see point one above). The problem is that you need to be able to get into the BIOS to do an upgrade on most machines, so until you can get it to BOOT that option is not available.

Flashing the BIOS is serious business. Do it wrong and you turn your shiny new laptop into a brick. So let's see if you can get into the bios first and check some things. Usually you press the DEL, F2, or ESC key when the laptop first starts to get in (check your screen - it will say what key somewhere). Don't make any changes unless you are sure of what they do. Just check to see you can get in and look around, then we can take it from there.

Also, be sure your model number is exact: 4553 and not 4553g. Installing the wrong BIOS will cause a very bad day.

Your 4553 laptop BIOS versions are here:

Hello everyone!
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but ...
I have Acer aspire e1-571 laptop for a while now more than one year. Recently it started to boot really slow. Not the windows part but the time between pressing the power button and Acer logo appearing.. Was very long about 10 to 20 min. I searched for a solution, and I tried removing the bios battery and putting it back. But now it dosntieven boot up anymore. I waited on it all night all nothing. The lights are on I even hear the fan but nothing the screen doesn't show anything.
Could anyone help me with this.
Thanks in advance.

A:acer aspire laptop won't boot up.. help !

Try reseating the memory. If you have more than one stick, try booting with just one stick, and then alternating. Sometimes, it can be the memory slot itself, so try the other.

Also, be sure to have all external devices unplugged: USB sticks, hard drives, mice, etc.

A:my acer aspire 5920 does not boot in any means

The stop error indicates that your boot device in inaccessible.

Insert your Windows 7 disc.
Restart your computer.
If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc. If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check your BIOS settings.
Click Repair your computer. NOTE: This Option will be skipped if using a Recovery disc.
Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next. If you know your keyboard is for another language then select that from the list.
The system will scan for installed operating systems. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
Select your user account and click Next. If there is only one user account this will go straight to the System Recovery Options.
On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:

Startup Repair
System Restore
Windows Complete PC Restore
Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
Command Prompt

Select Command Prompt and type in rstrui.exe and hit the Enter key.

This should open the System Restore window. Take it back to before things went wrong.

I'd start with the power supply first, partial failures are very common with Acer's. Do you have access to another power supply that you can try?

Acer doesn't provide service manual's.

Remove and reseat the hard drive and see if they go away.

Sounds like a mobo problem. could be a capacitor bubbled up and leaked, could be a short on the board, could be a crossed/not grounded pin. I would see if it has any warranty.

Hello guys,

I have just come across a serious issue with my 4 year old Acer Aspire 5536 (I know its old but i like it and it still performs). Anyway when pressing the power button the fan speeds up the lights come on but the computer will not start.

To get my computer to start I need to power on the computer and cover the fan vent for about 10 mins and restart and after i have done that it will run perfectly.

Does anybody have any ideas? I would prefer to fix the issue rather than buy a new laptop

Jason

A:Acer Aspire 5536 Bios Won't Boot

You have to cover the fan vent to get it to start ? One of the problems with laptops not starting or overheating is dust clogging up the internal CPU fan causing it to stop and thus overheat and shut down the system which CPUs are designed to do, so I am surprised that by covering the fan vent this allows the laptop to start or am I not understanding your problem ?

Acer won't 5535-5050 Aspire the last few weeks Then I decided to hook it up to my flat screen TV via VGA connection It worked great for a few days but after turning it off one night and removing the VGA cable I found that I boot into a black screen no BIOS splash screen activity lights anything but the power button the next day First thing I thought was the computer was trying to display to an external monitor I hooked it back to the TV and still nothing I looked around the forums and tried the following methods Remove all power sources hold power button for Acer Aspire 5535-5050 won't boot. - seconds try to boot Failed Re-seat the RAM failed Re-seat the CMOS battery failed Press Fn f during boot cycle failed Yell and rage at the machine failed but mildly therapeutic I am literally out of ideas on how to get this thing working again When I turn it on I can hear the optical drive fan and hard disk spinning like usual but there are no lights showing activity besides the green power button Help is very much needed at this point Thank you to those who respond

A:Acer Aspire 5535-5050 won't boot.

The first thing to try is remove one stick of RAM and try to boot, if not swap sticks and try again.

my acer aspire one netbook sometimes boots with an off center screen to the left with the right half of the screen black. this happens about one time in ten in a random manner. I updated the video driver, same problem. the only repair was a new keyboard.
Thanks

A:Acer Aspire One Screen off center on boot

If the image is off-centre only until Windows starts, it has nothing to do with the third-party driver (since the driver doesn't get loaded until Windows starts). Or have I misunderstood you, is Windows off-centre too when it happens? If it doesn't affect Windows I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi I am planning to help a friend who had an issue with her laptop an Acer Aspire G I recently had to use the Acer eRecovery Management boot Aspire Acer Dual 4752G because her unit went berserk and could not boot after a visitor had inserted a usb stick Well it's all okay now and have recovered a default factory image now Now she was asking me if I could make it a dual boot system One thing good about it is that if the main partition cannot boot you can always boot to the other well that's in my case with my desktop prior recovery via Acronis or Paragon HDM Now this laptop came with the stock OS Windows Basic which is licensed including all the software that came bundled with it Now I plan to partition the GB hdd to partitions Let's say A with the Windows Basic and B with Windows Ultimate and C just a logical drive for files documents etc Will use EasyBCD and iReboot from Neosmart Tech for booting Will there be anything wrong if that was the arrangement I mean the nd partition to boot with Windows Ultimate What happens to the System Reserved of the laptop Have not yet done a dual-boot with a Basic and Ultimate that is why I asked this I'd also like to ask you guys for help for anything that I need to check and have prior undertaking her wishes Please do share some thoughts and input to me as Dual boot Acer Aspire 4752G I do not need to boink this one for her Thanks and a Happy New Year to you guys too

I really don't see the benefit in dual-booting Starter and Ultimate. Just format the HDD, install Ultimate, and then create a 2nd partition for data.

As the title reads I'm not able to boot to flash drive on my Acer laptop. I have Hirens boot program installed uising Grub4dos to configure the downloaded ISO of the hirens boot disk.
when computer start press I F2 to enter the bios, I go to Boot and chose USB HDD then press F5 to get it to the top to number 1. then go to EXIT and press exit Saving changes.

When restarting the computer it goes directly to the screen taking me to Windows 8.1.

When going back to the boot options it shows that none of the changed configuration has changed.
Any ideas?

When I launched the startup recovery it gave me a black screen for 5 minutes, then an Acer desktop screen with nothing on it. A:acer aspire netbook boot failure

I have two Acer netbooks in the house (different models). The first thing I did was buy an external DVD burner. The next thing I did was go to Programs, Acer, Acer eRecovery Management and burn the recovery DVDs.

Note: this is a radical last resort step because it restores your netbook to how it was when it left the factory. You lose all the programs you have installed, all the windows updates and patches and any programs you have removed because of new computer bloat will be back on your netbook.
You'd hold down the alt key and press F10 when you tirn on the computer. Click Restore Computer to Factory Defaults.

I'd probably recommend a less drastic measure first.
1. Buy an external DVD burner.
2. Get someone running Windows 7 (if that's what you are running) make a repair disk. If your computer is running 64 bit Win 7, the disk has to be made with the same bit-ness.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/create-a-system-repair-disc
3. Use the repair disc to see if you can get Windows to boot.

A:Acer Aspire 4520 Boot Problem

Hello and welcome.

First try:

1. Start your computer.
2. Press the F8 key.
3. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
4. If you are running other operating systems on your computer, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP/Vista, and then press ENTER.

We can also check if we can start the system in Safe Mode:

1. Start computer.
2. Press F8.
3. Select Safe mode.
4. Press Enter.

For the past few days, I've been running into some Booting trouble concerning my Acer Aspire R13 Laptop that I bought around this time last year.

The issue that I'm trying to deal with at the moment is that, after the Acer Welcome Screen, the Screen goes black, and then reverts back to the Acer Welcome Screen in an Infinite Boot Loop. I can access only two commands. Function F2 and F12 which are InsydeH20 Setup Utility and Boot Manager. I've tried doing the common solutions to the problem which is pressing Alt and F10 to no avail. I've also tried draining the battery of power and static, but I'm not too sure if I did it correctly. I'm in desperate need of help here, and any sort of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A:Acer Aspire 5335 laptop will not boot up

First, we can suggest a number of security softwares that are absolutely free and are excellent in protection.

Second, there is the possibility you'll need to do a reformat due to infection. However, first go to our Virus and Malware Removal forum and read the Updated 8 Step sticky. At this point it doesn't see you'll be able to necessarily do the steps but at least familirize yourself with the process.

Then on that forum, if you cannot do the steps, post your issues and make sure you tell them about the virus.

Hello!

I have an Acer Aspire One, that doesn't boot into Windows or into Safe Mode. I have tried to Flash the Bios as explained on many other sites, but I can't get that to run. I have also tried to F8 to Repair Computer option, but I do not get Repair Computer as an option. I'm stumped! When I restart it, it gives me the option to run in Safe Mode, if I do that it gets hung up on file: amdagp.sys. If I start normally it gets stuck on the Windows start screen. Help!!

A:Acer Aspire One won't boot, can't flast bios!

F8 is to access Safe Mode, Alt-F10 is used to access the Acer Recovery partition. See this link on the Acer website. I'm not sure why you were trying to flash the BIOS as that most likely wouldn't fix your boot problem.

A:Acer Aspire Laptop won't start/boot

You can either have a failing hard drive on your hands or an over heating system or perhaps both. First lets test your hard drive by going to another computer if possible.

Download UBCD which is in my signature.Burn the ISO Image to a blank CD using Imgburn (How to burn a ISO Image using Imgburn) burn at lowest speed. With the newly burned cd boot with the cd go to HDD>Diagnostics>The make and model of your hard drive, Seagate, Maxtor, Drive Fitness which is Hitachi, Or Western Digital. Perform a short and long test. Could also be called "Standard" and "Extended" test or also "Comprehensive" test. The Seagate hard drive test will work on most drives.

If you can not find the right test for your hard drive your OEM computer may have it's own hard drive diagnostics testing tool. Refer to your OEM computer documentation to find out how to access these test. Also try going to the manufacture of your machine to find documentation about it. Also consider going to the manufacture of your hard drive to look to see if they have hard drive diagnostics test. The ideal test or method would include an ISO that could be burned via an image to a cd which would be made bootable.

Also go into bios under Hardware Monitor or PC health and look at temp readings and post here.

Then we will give the next steps depending on the results.

Also I see in your profile you have listed Windows XP. This a Windows 7/Vista portion of TSF. Can you tell us which version of Windows you have so we can better assist you.

I have a Acer Aspire laptop It came with Windows Vista installed has GB RAM GB HDD in partitions I've mainly used the computer for basics like web surfing using Office email and some streaming video When it was newer my son played games with it online and being what he thought was pretty computer-savvy at the time would often change settings and so forth So while I was pretty careful who knows what he did when I wasn't around Relatively recently I had the screen replaced when I could be remembering this incorrectly the backlight burned out That was about - years ago I work for a university and faculty staff members can get Windows and MS Office for - so last December I bought the upgrade from Vista to Windows to Acer 7-8 5920 minutes Aspire boot takes Of course when I tried to install it I found out that the upgrade was for Windows Professional and my computer had Home and Office The same person who replaced the screen for me Acer Aspire 5920 takes 7-8 minutes to boot and IT guy from work brought me a copy of Windows Vista Professional to install instead of the Home and Office don't ask - I didn't We moved all of my data files off the computer installed Windows Vista Pro installed the upgrade to Windows Pro and it seemed to work However since then the computer has been slowly how should i say this degrading as far as speed goes Web pages load more slowly Documents open more slowly Firefox crashes much more frequently And lately over the last - weeks it's been taking or minutes to boot up after being shut down I tend to want to just jump in and try things myself so I of course ran a complete scan with the security software that's free from the University - Symantec Endpoint Protection All it's ever found is tracking cookies I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a full scan I downloaded SuperAntiSpyware and ran a full scan Neither found much of interest except for duplicate files that I'm working on cleaning up I have HijackThis on my desktop and have run it several times The first time there were a few things listed that I was pretty sure I could take care of myself but a lot that I just don't know enough about to be sure After getting some advice I uninstalled Symantec's software and installed MS Security Essentials instead I've uninstalled some software that I wasn't using I did de-select a few items from the start-up list that I didn't think needed to be running like ABBY Fine Reader OCR software for the printer that I've never used At this point I don't know if the computer is infected it's suffering from too little memory or the motherboard is failing Any thoughts Thanks so much Cyogd

So I have this Acer Aspire M and M1202 Acer issues Aspire boot Solved: its been acting weird lately I turned Solved: Acer Aspire M1202 boot issues it off one night fine and the next day i turned it on and the blue light on top did not come on but the system powered up the hard disk spun up and the cd drive light was flashing non stop So I Solved: Acer Aspire M1202 boot issues reseated the ram and then the processor and then I reset the bios by removing the cmos battery and then I tore the entire thing apart down to the motherboard and rebuilt it all Stoping and testing it as I was connecting parts to see if there was a part inside that was causing the issue But there was nothing still I thought it was done for and I left it alone while I ate lunch And when I came back to it it was booted I restarted the machine and it booted again and again over and over perfectly I thought the problem worked itself out But after turning it off and leaving it over night again I had the same problem in the morning I turned it on and left it on for minutes and watched it and it ran with blinking lights on the front with no power light for a while After about minutes the power light came on and then another minutes went by and the computer restarted itself and loaded the bios and booted normally So I thought I could make this work by waiting on it but not today now its been on for an hour and no boot or post or anything What in the heck is wrong with it I know i typed out alott I appreciate anyone willing to help me and read through my post even though its fairly long Thanks nbsp

A:Solved: Acer Aspire M1202 boot issues

This random action could be a failing battery on the Mobo (what looks like a coin). If the unit has some age to it this might be a simple first expense. Batteries do not last forever and some do fail from time to time.

i recently bought an acer aspire m1640 off of someone. But when i turned it on it made a loud EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE noise. I narrowed down frow where the noise is coming fom and its coming from the lower right corner of the motherboard. Its not from the hard drive or any of the fans. it seems that its coming from a small cylinder with a hole on top of it and there is a small lithium ion battery next to it. Does anyone know whats wrong or how to fix it???

A:acer aspire wont boot noise EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

The EEEEEE noise you are referring to is coming from yur motherboard onboard speaker, and is a series of high pitched beeps. I;ve looked at the board maual and it does not refer to the different beep combinations it has.

Try powering up the Pc with the top off the case and check things such as the CPU fan is running, check all hardware is seated correctly as it more than likely will be some form of hardware failure. Also try replacing the CMOS battery (the small lithium ion battery you mentioned)

I really hope someone can help me--I have no recovery media no recovery partition thanks to gateway and no idea how it got from what seemed like a normal update to this I'll start from the beginning Tonight I went to restart my computer and surprisingly it needed to update though it had installed some a few days ago I thought little of it and waited I sat for about half an hour and upon the second time it restarted it said quot we couldn't Acer error! Aspire V3-551 boot to Failed Help! updates complete the changes--- Help! Failed updates to boot error! Acer Aspire V3-551 quot etc and stayed Help! Failed updates to boot error! Acer Aspire V3-551 on that screen for another half hour It then restarted And went to the screen again I waited mins before holding the power button down to shut it off Turned it back on and the screen came up again So I tried to use f to access the boot menu and found it password protected somehow I'd never seen this before I looked up how to remove the password and removed the bios battery and replaced it This fixed that issue So now able to get to boot options I decided I'd enable the f recovery menu and try to use startup repair or system restore Startup repair failed system restore said I needed a system image And recovery said the drive Windows is on is locked I know the previous hd had a Windows recovery partition but ever since gateway replaced it it does not So turning it off and on once more it now gives a Help! Failed updates to boot error! Acer Aspire V3-551 boot error x f tells me to insert recovery media and shuts off and restarts in a loop This has gone horribly wrong There's been no power surge the he should be physically fine I removed all power sources and the hd before resetting the bios battery and was careful in replacing everything and I don't see what else could have been done as far as turning off my laptop when it was stuck on reverting the changes from the failed update I can't afford to pay for recovery media or worse yet having it repaired right now as I have important files on my hard drive that I'd like to recover by not just replacing the hard drive and I need this laptop for my work I hope this post is understandable since I'm writing from a phone and I'm half out of my mind with worry--I've been up very late trying to fix this Can anyone help me

A:Help! Failed updates to boot error! Acer Aspire V3-551

You can download and create Windows 8.1 Setup media > Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help

Once you have the setup media - insert the usb into PC and boot from USB.. At install screen select > repair this computer

When I turn on my acer aspire one, it first boots on Android. Android was its main operating system. In Android, there is a button to switch to Windows. I rarely use Android and I wanted to make Windows to be booted first. I saw this option in 'msconfig' and I changed it. It worked! Now, whenever I turn on, Windows boots up first. But now, I wanted to use Android but I cannot see the option on msconfig again .

How do I boot Android now?

A:Acer Aspire One Happy Android Dual-boot

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

Take a look in eRcovery, there may be a option to reset boot for Android.

You can Order Acer recovery disks from here:
