I want to add an expansion card to a new Tower 3620. I can get the box open to access to chassis just fine, but how does this black plastic cover on the expansion slots work. Looks like it's designed to make it easy to pop open all the slots at once, but it's way to clever for me to figure out. Hand me the big pliers!
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
When all else fails, read the manual (page 18-19).http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19984217
We have a Dell Precision Tower 3620 and have purchased a firepro W7000 to install. only problem is the 6 Pin connector provided by dell has a different pin arrangement. the middle top pin as you look at the plug is square instead of the usual rounded corner pin so will not go into the socket.
Anyone know why this would be?
The only video cards validated in the Precision T3620 did not need the power supply lead. So this may be why the 290w PSU is lacking the correct cable? Perhaps another Precision T3620 can open their case and also check the PSU cabling.http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/t/19682569
I have a Dell Precision Tower 3620 that was purchased May 2016. I'm looking to use the Thunderbolt capability but can't find the addin card that I'm supposed to use. This unit was advertised as having Thunderbolt capability but I can't seam to find how to take advantage of it.
It looks like its an add-on card that you purchased with your build. If you didn't select it at time of purchase, then it didn't come with it. You can always buy a PCIe add on card yourself and throw it in the computer.http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19995187
Last night i was updating the bios on this 3620 and it froze at 100%, after 30 minutes or so i forced to reboot.
Now always as an Amber light blinking when i connect the power cable and only the fan starts to spin for a few seconds and turn off in a loop.
I already try CMOS reset - nothing
Jumper in service mode - nothing
Is there any way to flash a bios from an USB drive. I've been reading a lot of foruns and all talk of some switch /writeromfile but doesn't work on this dell bios setup.
Does any one have an idea for me to try?
Thank you very much
We have bought a Precision Tower 3620 with an External Graphic card.Nvidia Quadro K620 graphic card.
The Graphic card has one DVI port and one DP port while the on board card has 2xDP and one HDMI.
We have to connect two monitors to this computer . We have been able to connect the monitor to external DP port. But for some reason the DVI port is not working.
So we decided to use the on-board card but it is not working....we removed the external graphic card and set BIOS to Intel Graphic card but still it is not working (I have only tested the DP port at the moment)....
So what do you think the reason might be?
Thanks in advance for the help
My 3620's current PSU is 290W. I have a hard time finding any other power supply to upgrade. Can somebody provide a list of PSUs compatible with 3620?
There is a 365W power supply for this model - note though that these are not standard power supplies, so aftermarket units won't work.
I ordered a 3620 with 2 hard drives configured for RAID 0. It has already shipped. I realize now that I made a mistake and should have ordered the RAID 1 configuration. I realize this will reduce my total drive capacity.
Also, I'm planning on adding a 3rd HDD that I do not wanted to be included in the RAID. Any help on switching RAID levels and adding the 3rd drive would be appreciated. I'm expecting the machine to arrive tomorrow.
I have an expansion slot, and I was wondering what goes in there? I know it's a stupid question, but I never hear much about it.
I have a shared PCI/ISA slot on my MB. What (or better how) can I use this slot? I want to add a NIC for DSL but all my PCI's are in use by Firewire, SCSI, and sound cards? Can I use this shared slot for the NIC or swap out one of my others and use them in the shared??
Thanks for any help!
well, most PCI cards sohuld play nice nice with the shared slot. But i'm not to sure abuot that. I'm not sure if the sound card would like it though. You can probably just put the NIC in there
Just remember, i could be wrong.
Hi, when i uprgrade the ram, i see on MB a expsansion slot, is a msata o a mini pcie? i want to put a ssd here if is possible. thankshttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/question-on-expansion-slot-on-Mb/td-p/5835240
The PCI card (Adaptec 29160N RAID) is 32-bit but the expansion slot on the motherboard (Super Micro P4DPR-6GM+) is 64-bit 66MHz PCI (3.3V). The card's POST doesn't show up during boot. Is this because it's 32-bit and the slot is 64-bit?
What size are the screws for PC expansion slots? Are they 6-32 x 1/4"?

There's a small expansion slot labelled PCIE1x1 next to the longer slot in which I've installed a graphics card. What can the smaller one be used for? Can it for example hold an SSD? Thanks,Tom
Go to Solution.
OK, Yes that is the one that I was Refering to... There was some boards that could connect to that slot I don't see any ATM but they were non Controller systems Plug in and some would be found. Some wouldn't So I think they have done away with them... One with a Controller like the one in my picture here.... Can be used for SDD and also an extra HDD off it as well. They have others that are just SSD and some that have 2 spaces for SSD on the card but may not work for your space as they are longer cards. There are also some that offer SSD, SATA and exta ESata out the back... It is all up to what you want and how much you like to spend.http://community.acer.com/t5/Aspire-Desktops/TC-705-EB53-expansion-slot-question/td-p/411193/jump-to/first-unread-message
1. Expansion SlotWhat is the expansion slot specification for this model as we would like to add a dedicated graphics card with DisplayPort ? 2. MemoryHow many memory slots does it have on the motherboard ?What type of memory is required ?What is the maximum memory supported on the motherboard ?
Go to Solution.
Ok, Sorry looking up the model at Kingston and a couple other sites didn't show your computer and seeing I hadn't seen any I was confused. Based on what I have found maybe a Model from other country. With that said it looks like it comes with 2gig DDR3L Ram and is Upgradable to 8Gig Also looks like yours comes With 1 PCI Express x16 Slot. I am not sure with the PSU and with that slot if you would be able to upgrade to a different Graphics Card. GPU and size of case would put a huge limit on what could be able to fit... Do you guy knew if Dell E7250 is able to install ADDITIONAL ssd in M.2 Expansion Slots?
In the specification it's show there are free M.2 slot for WWAN or SSD.
If it's support what SSD M.2 model should i but 2242?
The additional slot referenced is in the E-dock expansion adapter - NOT the system. The system takes only one internal M.2 drive.
If you have (or purchase) the E-dock port adapter, you'll have the additional M.2 slot.

@Dr_Saiful?, welcome to the forum. Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer. Beginning on Page 26 you will find the Workstation Specifications. In the specs it says that two video cards can be used as long as the required wattage is no more than 150W. I suspect that you may be exceeding the wattage of your power supply unit (PSU). I ve got several excellent computer cases and a tight-fit on a PC system desk setup Typical problem is most all the PC quot connections quot to it are on the quot back quot amp on the expansion slot panel all jacks amp connectors are Ind standard As you ve probably figured out from my long Title above - I don t know what these extension arrays are actually called I have seen them usually threaded inside the PC case from the back or Mobo to the front Not knowing the correct omundo name for these things has made googling for um a lot harder What i d like is to extend the connections for at least all my Graphics card Audio in out jacks - and rear USB connections up to the front of the machine where they should be on all machines in the first place Actually Other than things like the NIC card and A C I d just as soon move quot all quot the quot user access quot connectors up front to the top the side where ever they would be actually quot accessable quot I m just tired of having to stand PC cable slot) case (expansion extension array on my head - with a flash light in hand - tangled in wires that i m not looking for - i m sure lots of you have been there Any ideas where I can find these things or a correct NAME for um I ll buy them individually if PC case (expansion slot) extension cable array i have to or a harness PC case (expansion slot) extension cable array with all the extended connections on it would be Ok with me Video connections extended up front might also be nice but with xVGA S-Video and a HDMI out really don t cause that much climbing over in the back Thanks guys GerryH nbsp
Usually, newer motherboards have extra headers for connecting
the front panel connections.
Afraid graphics and network usually don't have header extensions,
but something like this can get audio/usb firewire up front.
You need to find one to match the headers.
USB is standard but audio can be standard or HD.
I have a FujiFilm XD-Picture card, and I noticed for a while when I go to put my card into the card slots in the tower it would pop up a notice such as:
I guess what I am wondering is what is causing this message to come up? I always just exit it, and access the card a different way because when I exit the dialogue above another box pops up such as:
I guess my question is, what exactly does the Scan and fix mean on the first dialogue that pops up? Should this be done and does it have to do with the XD card itself, or the slot that I put it in?
All this message means is that the card was pulled from the PC or the camera at some point before a file operation was complete. It would be harmless and helpful to allow windows to 'scan and fix' on occasion.
Something else that would fix it would be to allow the camera to format the card the next time the card is empty.
I have run into a problem with my PCI Expansion Ports
I have been using a 3 port USB PCI Card. The other day, any device plugged into the card quit working.
Did some troubleshooting, and found out that the card is receiving power only, and is not transmitting any data. Some of the USB Devices I have - Printer, Flash Drive, USB Hdd, USB Wifi Adapter, Mouse, keyboard, Sidewinder Control stick, webcam, and a UPS.
I plugged each one into the card, and they all received power, but no data. Windows is not detecting that the device is plugged in, but the device does light up the LED's
I do not have any other PCI cards to test to see if it is the Card, or the ports that are bad. It is doing the same thing on both of the PCI slots on my Motherboard.
All of the other USB ports are working fine.

Without testing in another computer I'd assume the card is bad. I went a different way, put a 4-port USB Hub in the floppy drive bracket on the front of the computer, connects to the internal power supply and the data cable plugs into a USB port on the back. I do have a couple of the PCI Add-in cards salvaged from other computers but like the front ports for accessibility.

Okay so I have the Corsair Force GT Series 120GB SSD. Its port's are Sata 3 and well my motherboard is a MSI Pro-E long story short it does not have a sata 3 port. So my question is there anything out there I can buy that does have a sata 3 port like something that will hook on the PCI slot's or something. I basically dont wanna have to buy a new mother board but I still wanna get the amazing speeds because right now im getting half its peformance anyways please write back soon. If you give me a link to a product I prefer www.newegg.com and my max budget is $50.
You will need a free PCI-E slot. But this should get the job done.
I do not know much about the brand. But it does have 5 Eggs on Newegg.

For Windows 10 you should have a UEFI Boot with SecureBoot Enabled. The USB should be made using the GPT partition scheme for UEFI BIOS. I hope you mean 120 GB and not 120 MB....

My mate has a Dell Inspiron 4150, it has some expansion ports on one side however I have no idea what sort they are and my computer store told me that they had no idea as usual unless they looked at it. Can any one help I need a reply ASAP please. It's for USB 2.0 expansion ports the laptop only coming with one USB port, and from what I can tell it's only USB 1.0. Yikes! Can any help?
We chose an M800 for a project due to the picture shown on the Lenovo site for that model as having a PCI slot. After recieving it, of course we learned that it is an "optional part". There was no way to select this when we originally ordered it. I know the Fru 00XG124, MSI M.2 to PCI card_V1.0. I would prefer to order the part, and bring it up to the spec we need as opposed to returning the unit. Any suggestions? My modem-router is in bridged mode (everything is disabled except internet), i have disabled windows firewall i have taken my firewall offline (until this issue is resolved) but still no one can access my server (they can't even join a game if i create a server)
if i go to port checker it says connection refused on all ports except port 80? how do i force open the ports?
i called my ISP and they say they should be open and there not blocking any ports.
I have a static ip address, 24Mbit up 2.5Mbit down.
when i run my filesharing program (for sharing files between my and my clients) and they try to download a file from me it says it will take (99years, 99days, 99 hours) now i don't really have that long to wait
edit: and yes my network properties are configured manually (and not on auto detect) i have no problem accessing the internet myself
It would be better to open the ports in the running firewall than to turn it off. Firewalls load drivers, running or not. Many firewalls block everything by default when they are turned off so that the machine is protected during boot.
You may need to uninstall some firewalls to get them to open all ports.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop and two days ago all the usb ports and my SD slot stopped working. I went to plug in my external hard drive and an sd card to back up photos and they both stopped working. Not just the usb port that I was using, but all 4 of them are not working. They have not worked since, even with a shut down, or restart. I have windows XP. Not sure what else to put here, but appreciate any help.
Okay, odd...they are all working now. I guess, is there anything I can do to make sure this doesn't happen again?http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/375708/usb-ports-and-sd-slot-all-stopped-working/

It sadly does seem quite likely you have caused a problem with the motherboard usb 'power grid' It is possible the bios has simply stuck the system into a protected mode in order to protect the hardware inside.
The only way I know to check that this is the case is to power down, unplug the laptop and remove the battery for about an hour, then attempt starting back up with no usb devices connected, and see if proper functionality returns. It could simply be as of the moment the laptop has never fully shutdown and been given a chance for the hardware to reset after the fault caused by the faulty plug.
Sadly in your current situation that would probably be the best case scenario.
I have a satellite pro l300 - only 1 usb port is working the others have been physically damaged. I was wondering I could put a card into the express card slot ..I was thinking one of these
but I am confused, with pcima, express slot converters......would the above work ? - laptop is running vista.
Yes this adapter should work fine
ok, simple question, will opening the tower case to clean my computer's cooling fans violate the warranty? or am I better off trying to arrainge servicing for my system for this specific purpose?I tried calling support to ask, but the agent didnt quite follow and seemed to think I was saying I had a fan failure, when all I wanted to know was if opening the case to clean it myself would void the warranty.so I decided to post here in the hopes that an hp employee versed in the terms and conditions of the limited manufacturer's warranty wouldnt take pity on this poor uneducated soul.
Greetings, This action will not void your warranty unless you cause damage. Shut the system down, disconnect AC power and disconnect all peripheral devices. Move the system to an area where you can remove the side panel. Clean the sytem using compressed air and allow time for any moisture caused from using compressed air to dissipate. I periodically do this on all my HP desktops and it is wise to do this. I am not an HP employee. There is no official HP presence in this Forum. Cheers!http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/will-opening-the-tower-case-to-clean-the-cooling-fans-void/td-p/5631184

But my PC has a SIM card slot on the right side (side opposite to the microphone and the headphone)
Even after taking off all the 14 screws (including the torx one right in the center), the back cover can not be lifted up on the side of the SIM card slot. Something is holding it back.
Has anyone in the community already succeeded in removing the back cover for this confiuration ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Did you manage to remove the cover?
There is no other method to remove the cover? if your notebook is equipped with SIM card, remove firstly the SD card (bridge media dummy card), then SIM card (you will need to insert a slender object into the hole of the sim tray) and then the 14 screws from the cover at the bottom of the unit.

I am using DHCP Enabled. But I would like to open specific ports for a couple of computers, so that they can use the P2P programs. But to do so they should retain the IP address. I would like to keep the IP address constant for some of the MAC addresses.
I was able to do so on the old ADSL router (D-Link) that I had before.
Kindly advise how I can open the ports for these computers while they get their IP address on DHCP?
Sorry, we cannot assist with the use of P2P programs.
Please read the Forum Rules before posting again.
I have recently started running a program called "Utorrent" and it has asked me to connect to a port for downloads. I have disabled the Windows Firewall. And i have opened My Networking Connections to manually add a port. But when i put in the port # 1183 and enter my IP address, it gives me an error message saying "Internet Gateway cannot accept" and I'm back to square one. I have been following the windows help steps from this location:
help would be much appreciated.
Hi and welcome to TSF.
I'm afraid we cannot help with what is effectively a P2P programme.

Hello. I have a problem. If i use this Open Port Check Tool, located Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router there, it says that port 8080 is closed for my ip. I have tried shutting down my windows firewall, aswell as adding an inbound and outbound rule for TCP Port 8080, in which it was allowed.
Still, it shows as closed. How could i open it?
Check your router, to see if it has its own firewall. Also, you should be able to make the necessary ports open on your router.http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/opening-ports-549112.html
Hello. I have a B-focus ECI 270pr router, and I'm trying to open my ports without much of success.
I tried to use portforward.com to define my ports, but they use the old firmware of this router, which has a kind of different layout.
I succed in opening my ports only one time, and tested if they were actually open with two sites:
http://tools.slsknet.org/porttest.php?port=55776 - Which said that the port is open and ok...

So I have three questions:
1. Is there any way to open all of my ports? I have firewalls of my own and i don't want to use the routers'...
2. If not, Can you guide me how to open my ports properly?
3. Why am I receiving different answers in the two port testing sites?
Thank you very much in advance!
Is their a firmware upgrade for the router?
Is their a DMZ option in your router?
ok so i got madden06 and im having one hell of a time opening the ports on my router to allow me to play onlineive been having to unplug the router to play. i found that i have to open
HTTP: 80 (outbound only)
HTTPS: 443 (outbound only)
TCP 13500, 28400-28499, 32768-65535 (outbound only)
UDP 1795, 1797 (inbound and outbound)
the problem is i logg onto my router (D-link DI-524) but i dunno wtf virtual server? application? firewall? and suggestions anyone who has done this and could step me through would be great.
Don't bother with any of the outbound stuff - it is all enabled by default.
In router config you forward the ports in the virtual server section. Just put in the port (you have to make two rules to have both 1795 and 1797), type (UDP), your computer's IP adress (it has to be static) and optionally the port on your computer (the same as before).
hey, I've been trying to figure out how I would open multiple ports at one time.. like with XP where you could just go like.. open ports.. 1 - 100000000000000000000 by typing that into the port thingy.. with vista.. I can only open it one at a time for now.. so.. if anyone has the answer to this problem.. please.. and I mean PLEASE help..
anyone get any ideas? pleasee post them
Alright I saw that someone had a similar problem to this but I tried the suggestion and it didn't seem to do anything and you guys were so ports.... Opening helpful last time that I'd thought I'd see if you could help me again I am fairly new at building websites - I just know the basics so be gentle but I've had my site Opening ports.... for a few months now and I have been fine at accessing my control panel until last month that is Now for some odd reason I can't access Opening ports.... my own website's control panel I get the - Forbidden error Opening ports.... message whenever I try to access it so I asked my webhost what was up and they said that it must be something on my system blocking the port I need to access it My problem is I disabled any firewalls I had up and I don't even bother putting the XP one on seeing as it's useless anyways and I haven't made any new changes to the location of my site so how in the hell do I unblock the specific port I need And why is it all of the sudden forbidden when two months ago it was fine Let me know if you have any ideas and thanks for your time D Yogurthttp://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f56/opening-ports-17614.html
I have a Linksys WRTG54 router which doubles as my firewall. Up to this point in my life I've been to afraid to dabble in opening ports and haven't really had any reason to do so, but I may be getting into bittorent soon.
As it relates to this or other possible reasons one might want to open one or more ports, am I correct in assuming that if you open ports to things you want that they are wide open for anyone else to use as they see fit? How is it that all you computer geeks out there (a term which I use endearingly) are opening your ports all the time and not getting hijacked?
Ok, am trying to open up one of my ports but it wont. I test my ports by using this website https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
I fail to of the 3 tests put pass one of them which I dont want to the results are as follows for the test i passed.
"Unsolicited Packets: PASSED — No Internet packets of any sort were received from your system as a side-effect of our attempts to elicit some response from any of the ports listed above. Some questionable personal security systems expose their users by attempting to "counter-probe the prober", thus revealing themselves. But your system remained wisely silent. (Except for the fact that not all of its ports are completely stealthed as shown below."
I dont want to pass this test, can someone tell me what is stoping mefrom failing this test? I know its not my firewall. Thanx
Since you didn't tell us what ports are in question, it's real hard to offer suggestions.
Need some help getting a couple of ports open on my pc, I have dsl and they're ports are open. I also run through a linksys wrt54g wireless router, feeling that could be the problem but I'm at my wits end, any thoughts
Ive been trying fo some time to open a port on my college network to play an online game i cant however seem to be able to access the network device. can anyone suggest a way to access it and is it possible at all to open these ports using CMD?. when i do a netstat i get 3 different local addresses which are: 10.2.11.226 127.0.0.1 0.0.0.0 ( which i presume is the subnet but i really dont know lol)
Thnx in adavance
Can't help you here. I suggest you talk to the IT folks at the college about opening ports. I suspect that the reason they don't allow that is because they foolishly thought you'd be using their network for school related activities and not playing games.
A friend of mine told me that as a default that Windows only opens (or half opens - not sure what the difference is) 10 ports for TCP/IP....
What would happen if you opened more? I mean say 50, or 100 or 1000?

I've been trying to play 'Quake Live' but I can't connect to a multiplayer game.
I know that the problem is my firewall. If I turn it off it works perfectly, but of course I'd rather have it on but allow the game to communicate. I've allowed all the programs associated not to be blocked but this doesn't work.
Opening a port is what I think I need to do, but I have fairly limited knowledge about how to do this, which port to open or how safe doing it would be.
I'd appreciate any advice, cheers.
My AV is Virgin PC Guard (which uses Kaspersky)
OK I've found that if I turn off my AV's firewall and then turn on Windows firewall then it's ok. Is windows firewall safe enough?http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/opening-ports-452872.html
I am need of someone to help me why I cannot open ports correctly in Windows 7, but in XP I had no issues. If someone has the time..please contact me. I have tried reading, watching videos....and I am still unable to figure this out...
Thanks in advance...
I have a lantronix printserver. I can print test page from setup on my computer but will not print from ipad. tech support need to open port 631. This will allow the ipad to communicate with the printer. Does anyone know how to accomplish this task.
Is this problem happening at an office where there is an IT department?
Is there a software and/or hardware firewall within the network?
Some of my programs (for example mIRC, GameSpy) suddenly are not able to connect with no apparent reason I suspect it has something to do with closed ports and firewalls but I don't really know...
Another problem I have is I can't access secure connections (like buying something through Amazon.com).
a friend of mine told me to try PortMagic but it doesn't seem to work, it says it can't recognize an internet connection.
I'm running WinXP and have 1.8 Mbps connection.
thanks in advance.
Oh, My sister recently installd the trial version of Panda AntiVirus Platinum but the problem continues even when I shut it down.

You may need to do a factory reset on the router and reconfigure, it sounds like it's confused.

If you have a Cisco 675 all ports are open by default unless your ISP has specifically blocked them.
How do I open ports inside windows 7? I know in Windows Vista there's supposed to be an Add Ports button in Control Panel/All Control Panel Items/Windows Firewall/Allowed Programs but in 7 there is no button for this, all you can do is add programs but you can't open specific ports.
when you are there, click on "Advanced Settings"
"Inbound Rules" or "outbound rules"
double-click on a program name
click on "Protocols and Ports" tab
(I haven't used this, I just found it.)
Hello everyone, nice to meet you all, this is my first post, and i look forward to being a member fo this amazing community!
I need to forward or open ports 60001, 60002 and 13242 UDP.
Can someone list the method step by step for me? thank you so much!
Hi Soutel, welcome to TSF...
the exact method for forwarding ports will depend on your router so it will be a bit difficult to give you the instructions. However, check out the website in the following link as it should have more details for you:
All you need to do is select your router make/model and then you should be able to choose the application/game you are trying to forward ports for and then follow the detailed instructions given.
Hope that helps.
details here: http://www.tocomet.com/post/69737/
i do not use this for downloading files except for work because i find ftp difficult. i simply use it to transfer/copy files to my 6 computers (4 in my house 2 at my work)
any more details needed feel free to ask.
i have no idea what to do next...

Nearly weeks ago my Skype stopped working It actually happened after installing BitDefender and a simultaneously automatic Windows XP update But Skype How Comodo: and in Ports Opening do I? should keeps insisting that it s a firewall problem I use Comodo v So I have questions How do I open outgoing ports in Comodo Is that really a safe thing to do Here is the actual message that Skype Opening Ports in Comodo: How do and should I? sent me Ideally outgoing TCP and UDP connections to all high-range ports should be opened This option results in Skype working most reliably If the above is not possible open up outgoing TCP connections up to port If the above is not possible open up outgoing TCP connections to port Some firewalls restrict traffic on port to HTTP protocols only in this case Skype can not use it since we do not use HTTP With some firewalls it is possible to open up all traffic to port not just HTTP in this case Skype will work If none of the above is possible Skype can use a HTTPS SSL proxy In order to do that you have to configure the proxy address in Internet Explorer options Then Skype will be able to use the proxy as well Incidentally I tried to do the last option the HTTPS one and got the message quot bad ports quot Any help will be extremely appreciated Regards to everybody nbsphttps://forums.techguy.org/threads/opening-ports-in-comodo-how-do-and-should-i.565239/
I have been having this problem of my ports not opening These ports specifically are amp The problem has been troubling me for some time where it is disrupting one of my programs to Ports Help in Opening needed function properly I have searched on the internet to find a solution by myself but nothing has worked to open the ports I have read tutorials and forwarding ports in my router and Help needed in Opening Ports still nothing However I think it was me on ticking a setting and it closed my ports but I have no idea what it was or how to undo the process I checked the ports on www canyouseeme org to see if I opened the ports and even tried to open ports through the Windows firewall and still nothing The only thing I haven t done is check with my ISP if they have blocked the ports but I don t think that would be the case as I went through ISPs in the last six months and it has happened on both of them So finally after sometime I decided to get help from this site as this site helped me get rid of the happli virus that was plaguing my system
Port 80 is HTTP and Port 443 is HTTPS. If your browsing the internet than they aren't blocking the ports.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/455318/help-needed-in-opening-ports/
Hello there. I am trying to open a couple ports in my router to make a minecraft server but when I go to here http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and test the port it says that the port is closed.
I have 1 modem and 3 routers in my house. Do I have to forward the same port on ALL the routers AND my modem? I dont know. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!
My router is a CISCO E900, and my modem is an ARRIS. I'm not shure what type it is.
Ive another problem (again -.-)
This time i noticed using bittorent(a file share program) and im pretty sure some ports are not opened in my router (6881~6999). Im 100% sure something is wrong because ages ago when i didnt have a router i used to get download speeds of 40kb/s at least. Now i get 3kb/s and never get anything above 10kb/s.
I need some help opening ports. heres a screenshot but im not pretty sure what to fill in in every field .
Im not sure if im on the right page, if i am pls tell me what to fill in there.
It could be a problem with you ISP. If it has been happening recently, maybe there is overcrowding, or something of that sort. Try calling them and see what they say, they could be having problems.
i have Verizon fios internet i would like to find out if some of the ports that i need to have open are open or not.is there a program that you can download. and put the port number in and checks to see if the port is open or not?
thank you for any help on this
You can use this online utility to do a port scan on your Internet connection to see what ports you have exposed.
In order to play a multiplayer game I need to open ports on both my firewall and router, and hey presto, it works and I can even create servers.
However, is this a security risk? I read on this forum that all ports should be "stealthed", but when I open them on the router+firewall a few ports come up on the GRC port scan as "closed" as expected instead of stealthed.
Can I just leave these settings in place or do I just have to change the settings everytime before and after I play, which would just be plain annoying.
Thanks in advance.
I was wondering(for the convenience of my customers) is there any type of command I can send to Command Prompt to open up a port in the firewall? If not how would I do so in the C++ language.
Thanks a lot, Jeremy.
I'm assuming you are talking about the WinXP firewall. If it's a thrid pary firewall, you'll need to get it's documentation.
The netsh firewall command will do what you want.
Enter netsh firewall /? to get started. For setting ports check out netsh firewall set portopening /?
Google on Netsh firewall and you get lots of info as well.
Yeh I've been trying to open my ports for quiet a while now.
I've tried open the ports 6112 - 6119 UDP was well as TCP. I've also tried allow the new ports to go threw my windows firewall. I can't figure out what i need to do to get my ports to work so that i can host games on starcraft.
I have a Linkys router, Avg, and windows firewall on my computer.
We play guitar hero online but when we go to accept a friend request or view any score charts it crashes and have to turn wii off and on again, and its now showing my name under as all players names when playing online.
Im under impression its port forwarding issues. Please see print screens below, can anyone explain to me why when I test the ports they still show as closed? (These are the ports activision asked we ensure are open. Router is a Dlink DSL-2640s. The wii is the unnamed device)
As much as i hate to say that im a noob, BUT I AM !!!
The thing is : Im due to make and ''game'' server i need to select a random port
Now, is there any limit to ports ? Where can i open ports manualy ? I know i can do it on windows firewall in advanced settings but my firewall does not activate ...well if it sayd i cant start the service in there i went on manual, wnt to controlpanel services and tryed to start it whrom there but an error 10047 replays to me .
So now i have 2 problems firewall, and is there anyother way to open ports with out that firewall, PS: i have ZoneLabs
Replay me on [email protected] ( its msn and email together, add wich u like )
Edit: Do not put your email address on public webpages! -- Nodsu
zonelabs will not run along side other firewalls happly
your lucky it runs at all.
The Well Known Ports are those from 0 through 1023.
The Registered Ports are those from 1024 through 49151
The Dynamic and/or Private Ports are those from 49152 through 65535
if zonealarm fails you disable it in startup
switch back to xp
if xp firewall does not run you have diff other problems like a trojun and or spyware already on machine
I can't stand ZA they s**ck big time in my book

Im using uTorrent and i got the error saying that my port was closed. I tried opening a port on my Belkin wireless N router. Model number is F5D8233-4v3. I check the port that I tried to open on these two sites but it says that its closed:
I have the firewall turned off and also used the virtual server tool and added an inbound port and a private port with the same port number. No luck though. Any help would be appreciate.
See www.portforward.com for help.
I have a very basic question about opening ports A lot of times for some of these games Ports Port Forwarding/Opening it asks you to open ports using words like quot outgoing quot and quot incoming quot but when I open ports with my Verizon router it s ActionTec but Port Forwarding/Opening Ports Verizon is slapped on the front and I only was able to figure that out by finding a label on the bottom of it when I go into my router I don t see ActionTec anywhere it s just source and destination A program I use Skype requires me to open a very large port range I ll quote The minimum requirement is that Skype needs unrestricted outgoing TCP access to all destination ports above or to ports and the former is better however If you don t allow either of those Skype will not work reliably at all Click to expand I DO see destination in there but I really need to be sure Is source outgoing and destination incoming Or are they completely different When I open source AND destination for - TCP how do I know I m not leaving a huge hole in my router open By what I believe I don t need to leave system info Please help Thanks nbsp
It's great isn't it? All this different terminology. Nothing better to reassure you of hours of problems.
Outgoing ports are ports you want to allow out of your network. Some businesses only allow ports 80, 25 and 443 to prevent users using things like p2p, skype or encrypted communications. It is generally better to allow all ports out at home unless you are specifically blocking an application or suspected rogue application.
Incoming ports are ports you might want to allow through your firewall. Generally you allow certain ports from certain addresses. I can see you understand incoming anyway.
Source is a source IP address and port. You can define all ports from a specific address or a specific port from a range of or all addresses.
Destination is the opposite. You may want to use this if you wanted to only allow certain traffic out to a particular destination address.
I am sure when using incoming and outgoing the option to define ip addresses is available, so it's just semantics really.
Please can anyone help me I have signed up to VoIP with BT I already had a wireless Speedtouch router and they have provided me with a BT Voyager V I can go through the set up for the voyager and receive configuration successful message but the a speedtouch580 on with the Problems ports opening BBV light on the voyager keeps constantly flashing Problems with opening the ports on a speedtouch580 BT say I need to open the ports on the Speedtouch and I have contacted the support team who have provided me with details but still no joy BT gave me lots of info regarding the incoming and outgoing ranges etc but not sure where I need to put these as all the NAT manager on the speedtouch asks me for is the inside and outside ip I have read the manual a number of times and still can t figure it out Have been trying to get this set up since beginning of April so if anyone could give me some advice I d be very grateful Many thanks nbsp

Hey I am trying to open ports 1023 through 65535, which I did with my gateway and I did with my windows xp firewall, yet it still didn't work. I turned my firewall off, and still nothing. The game company, SOE, was telling me that I was getting a 100% packet lost and by opening these ports it would fix it, but still nothing seems to work. Is there another way to open these ports?
By the way I followed this link on how to open ports http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308127
Did you open them on your router if using a router? If so, did you restart the router for the changes to take effect?http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/opening-ports-for-an-online-game-218709.html
I have an Xbox 360 and when i go onto Xbox live it works with all my friends except one who i can only play with if i connect my xbox directly to the modem. Another one of my friends said he had to open up ports on his router. I had tried this but i found many different tutorials online and none seemed to work correctly. If anyone has a proven method of opening up ports can you help me out. My router is a Linksys WRT54GS. Thanks.
Okay i'm having some trouble opening my ports, and lately i'm starting to think its impossible. I have a dynex wireless router, a gateway computer and my internet comes from optimum. Ive already tried finding out my ip using command prompt but it just says that its incorrect command. Please help.
hi, I am going to upgrade my graphic card to ATI 5770 so I need a new power supply which has power about 550--600 watt. But the most frustrating problem is that I failed to find a proper power supply with the correct dimension.
I have an HP pavilion e9300 which uses a very wired power supply tower-150mm(W) 86(H) 140(D). But so far all the PSUs I found is the standard size --150mm(W) 86(H) 150(D) which cannot fit in my setup.
So could any PC God give me some suggestion, please??
Is any PSU with the size of my tower or can I just simply install a bigger PSU which can still successfully power up the comptuer?
Thx in adance.
If the power supply will physically fit your case, it should work fine with your computer. Will the extra 10mm interfere internally with anything inside the PC?
Some basic info about my current network setup.
I'm connected wireless in my apt to an airport express, that is connected through a 80ft cable to an airport extreme down in my business.
I.E. Computer => Airport Express => Airport Extreme => Cable Modem.
The airport express is in Bridge Mode so it shouldn't be doing anything more than propagating the settings of the Airport Extreme. The problem is, when I go to the port forwarding options in the Extreme and open up the port I want to use with the IP of the computer I want to use as a micro server, and check them on check port sites, they show the port as closed.
The computer I'm trying to open up to use is a mac with OS 10.6.8, it has its firewall disabled.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have several ports( 3 cameras) that will work when I place Tenvis camera on Ethernet,, but when switched to wireless the port wont stay open,, my router is a ATT router
