My laptop hasn't stayed on for couple of days now. Whenever I turn it on it will in a page that says automatic repair then turns off. Then I attempted to turn it on again it won't turn on. I tried the hard reset but didn't do anything to the laptop. This laptop is just 1year and 3 months old. It would be a complete waste of money if I couldn't use it anymore. I need help please!http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/HP-11-n010dx-doesn-t-turns-off-after-one-second/td-p/5670097
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
For the last month or so, every time I log off my account, the keyboard does not register at the Windows Log In screen. This makes it so I have to restart the computer and then it works fine.
There are three accounts on the computer, the casing has been half removed for the last 3 months, a DVD burner and driver recently installed 3 months ago and I am using a wireless off brand USB keyboard and mouse.
OS: Windows Xp Home Edition 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
As for the second part, the computer requires several restarts to boot up, sometimes up to twenty minutes of turning on and off to boot up. Only started doing this a week ago.
It sounds like something is wrong with your Windows XP drivers. Something like that happened to me while building my computer, and when I boot up the keyboard did not work because my copy of windows XP was bad. You could try reinstalling windows XP, and It might work better, but I dont have a definite answer to your problem.http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/my-keyboard-doesnt-work-and-the-computer-turns-on-but-doesnt-start-381732.html

Hey guys, I've built my computer and the motherboard (ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, 2.08 Athlon 2800+ chip) turns on and gives power to the hard drives, but the monitor doesn't turn on. The one problem that I can think of is that my motherboard doesn't recognize the video card I put in it and since the motherboard doesn't have an onboard VGA slot, I don't know how I can get the monitor to turn on. Any ideas?
doesn't have onboard VGA slot?? I'm not sure what was meant by that statement, so I'll just run throught some basic things to check and some additional info you need to provide.
What is the rating of the Powersupply you are using in the machine. Wattage as well as rail current ratings are important.
what are the full specs of the system?
Is the video card well seated in the AGP slot?
Is the monitor cable properly connected?
Without having that additional info, its difficult to go any further
So I was just sitting down watching a gaming stream online when all of a sudden i hear a beep My monitor goes blank but my computer still appears to be on I then decide to try and restart my computer it gets as far as the windows XP loading screen and stops so i try to restart again This time it manages to get past the loading screen but then a small blue box with nothing inside appears on my screen I restart again and this time i get a blue screen with text detailing the issue and that i should restart before more damage is caused I restart and this time nothing happens The computer turns on but nothing else It sounds as if the psu fan is speeding up Doesn't But Up Computer On Boot Turns and slowing down continuously It s a hard noise to describe It doesn t feel like the psu fan is blowing any air out when i put my hand next to it am i right to Computer Turns On But Doesn't Boot Up think that i have a dead psu or is it something much worse S thankyou for anyone that can provide advice and thoughts on this Computer Turns On But Doesn't Boot Up situations EDIT I m beginning to think it is the graphics card the sound which i originally thought was coming from the psu seems to be coming from my graphics card It would make sense seeing as the monitor went blank but the computer remained on Now the question is is my graphics card dead nbsp

Computer with Windows xp professional turns on (fan and power light) but the other hardware: monitor, usb connections (usb harddrive, usb hub, mouse), Keyboard do not come on. I wonder if motherboard since there is also no sound? If got hit by surge or lightening would I still have power?
If it is Motherboard due to lightening can I just change out IT only?

This sounds like a computer problem and not a monitor problem. Try another monitor first, to rule that out

Hello, lately I have been building a computer, this is my first time in doing so and i am very close to finishing. However, when I turn it on all my internal lights turn on and all of my fans start spinning but for some reason the BIOS wont show up on my monitor, (and I have made sure the monitor is plugged in correctly, etc.)
Does anybody know what might be the problem?
Something not connected or seated correctly would be my guess. Can you list the hardware you have?
When I shutdown my computer my display turns off, so I am guessing that my graphics card shuts down, but nothing else shuts down, and I am forced to manually shutdown. I have tried to clear CMOS, as I have had this problem before and fixed it for a while by reverting back to default BIOS settings because I had an overclock, but it has come back again.
Maybe this is the problem?http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/346903-shutdown-display-turns-off-but-computer-doesnt.html
Hi, can someone please help me, I have all important files on my external hard drive and now it doesn't want to work. I connect it and the computer sounds like it has something connected but it does not show up on my computer or anywhere else I connect it. The light turns on and it flashes every 5 to 10 seconds but nothing. After a couple of seconds the computer makes a sound like if its disconnected but its still connected to the computer. It also makes a weird sound when I connect it for a couple of seconds and then it stops....I dunno what to do! I tried everything and nothing! Tried different cables, different computers and nothing, please anyone help!
"It also makes a weird sound when I connect it for a couple of seconds and then it stops"
Can you explain this in more detail?
Is this an "desktop" external drive with it's own power supply, or a "portable" external hard drive that gets its power from the PC over USB?

I am running windows 7 x64
I have Comodo Internet security (antivirus and firewall)
And it recently started doing this.
I have the PC networked to a home server running windows server 2003, and recently changed my login on this pc to match the user I created on the windows 2003 server with which it logs in as. (This negated me having to log in twice- once into this PC and the second to a network share on the server.) I'm not sure if this is significant, but it seems like a networked pc would be less likely to sleep.
Things I've tried
- I set both display to turn off and pc to sleep after one minute then:
Unplugged all USB devices
Turned off all Network adapters
Picked up a book
One minute later the PC's display shut off, but still no sleep. Whats the deal?

OK, first of all no one [other than you] has any idea what we are attempting to fix/troubleshoot. Post ALL of your exact system specs; ie exact mb, exact ram, exact video card [if used] exact pw supply, etc, etc. Note do not post 8gig of ram; post the exact brand and model# Do that for all of your parts.
If this is a big box system ie dell, hp, whatever, post the exact make and model# If you have a service tag# post that as well.

I was playing around with Task Scheduler to turn on laptop at specific time, it works great. However, while the system starts up just fine, the screen remains black until I touch the mousepad.
Now that doesn't seem like a big deal, but what I was experimenting with is having the computer turn on so I could use TeamViewer app on my phone to access my desktop when I'm not home. Problem is, TeamViewer won't access desktop if screen is black and if I am not physically present, I can't tap the mousepad.
Anyone know why the screen doesn't turn on? It worked great on my old Dell with Vista, system and screen came on know problem.
It's most likely in the power options to turn screen on when computer wakes from sleep. Just a guess.http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/218213-computer-turns-but-screen-doesnt-task-scheduler.html
So. I turn my desktop on today, and it sits there, the main monitor light just blinks, my secondary monitor, after showing the MSI screen, just shows this http://i.imgur.com/hCBoFyd.jpg
After that, nothing. Computer is still on but nothing happens. I was thinking maybe something is wrong with my primary monitor, so I type in my password and hit enter. no sounds. I unplug my primary monitor and restart. No change.
My computer was also unplugged all night. The only changes made yesterday was the installation of System tools. Would that screw my computer over?
Any advice, tips, suggestions, or explanations are all welcome. I use this computer for working, and I have a mountain of important information on it.

Hello guys, I'm new in the forum and I hope that I can help to solve this problem. Today I cleaned up the dust off from a Hp pavillion a1600n and after I finished and put everything back together the computer turn on by itself each time I connect it to the power outlet and will make long beeps but doesn't display anything. I took the memory RAM and make sure that there was not dust on it but it didn't help. I also checked the fans and are working fine. The computer turns on even when I unplug the wires that connects it to the power button. I hope somebody can help me solve this problem, Thank you.
If the system is powering on with out the power button, You have wires crossed. Double check the manual and make sure you are putting the front cables on the right pins. You may find you have one crossed and so it is getting continuous power instead of being properly shorted.
From there double check that you have everything connected correctly. If you need to disconnect and start from scratch. As far as the video is concerned, are you connecting to a video card or to on board video. Either way, check to make sure the card is tight to the motherboard, and that the cable is screwed in tightly. Re-seat the memory and or any cables to the motherboard.
This problem has been going on already for about a month as far as I can recall The laptop turns on but the display is totally empty and Windows does not start at all This happens frequently after hibernation sleep What I do usually is I just turn the laptop off and turn it on again and the OS starts successfully but now it takes more than twice and it may be dangerous already to do such The laptop is still under warranty and I have it checked already at the store where I bought it The tech person did a few tweaks in the power settings It did work but after a little less than hrs the problem came back I am working as an architectural intern and most of the programs I use are heavy D drafting and D modeling softwares e g Autocad Sketchup and Lumion as well as Adobe Photoshop I use Sketchup very often Just mentioning this as it may have some bearing to the problem Thank you very much

If this is still the factory preinstalled WIn7 then that is a corrupt install which causes many of these problems, which is why most tech enthusiasts will not run it but choose to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

I am not sure which OS is on this unit so I am assuming it's windows 8. I want to load a linux disc to attempt a data recovery but I don't know how to enable the legacy boot option to boot from USB optical drive? The down arrow will stop at Network Adapter in the UEFI Boot Order. I have attached a screenshot of the BIOS, help please?
Just enable Legacy Support and disable Secure Boot. If disabling Secure Boot gives you access to Clear All Secure Boot Keys, you may need to do that too.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/603884/hp-11-n010dx-legacy-boot/
Hi Guys I need some help here My PC is screwed After reading a bunch of loading screen problems I saw that all of them were problems that occurred after the XP loading screen happens But after around yesterday night Monitor doesn't screen XP before black turns load loading and I got up and used the computer and when I was done I put the computer into standby mode and went back Monitor turns black and doesn't load before XP loading screen to bed A few hours later I woke up and still a bit sleepy I got up turned my computer back on and held the Power Button until it shut down all of which I did not turn on my monitor or move anything I was sleepy Then today when I started my computer the computer booted up as usual and I saw my ASUS loading screen and the the flashing s that happens when my computer loads Monitor turns black and doesn't load before XP loading screen when I start it up But then it just goes blank I tried restarting the computer Monitor turns black and doesn't load before XP loading screen and try again with the power button turn off which just turns off when I press it unlike when my computer is acting normally which takes a few seconds Can anyone help me I just hope my hard drive isn t fried or anything Thanks nbsp
Could you explain this again please"?
"turned my computer back on and held the Power Button until it shut down, all of which I did not turn on my monitor or move anything"
Do you mean you pressed the power once then held it for 4 seconds? Do you normally turn your system OFF this way instead of using Start /Shut Down?
Sounds like this is a desktop, recommended practice is to turn the monitor ON then the system, after use, turn the system OFF then the monitor.
Standby, Suspend to RAM and Hibernation where windows is concerned, do not always work and are highly hardware and setup dependant.

Help my left hinge is broken like so many others and I'm out of warranty! I just spent 2 hours on the phone with HP only to discover I will be charged $220!! It's clearly a design error since it's happened to literally hundreds of others with this computer! There needs to be a recall it's not fair to have to pay for something that I've never dropped, etc. I've also read where some have gotten theirs repaired free of charge without being covered under warranty
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.
I realize after researching the error that my only solution is to replace my hard drive but I need some advice on what exactly I need in regards to a new hard drive. Not very tech-saavy. Please advise.Failure id 9fnhbr-7b783q-xd7v6k-61ed03.Thank you for any help.
Here is the Service Manual: Manual Hard drive replacement is shown on page 36 of the Manual. Your laptop, by the specs, came with a 500 gig 5400 rpm drive. This model only uses the superslim 7mm hard drives so that is what you need to buy. There are also options for an M.2 solid state drive or a regular-sized SATA solid state drive in lieu of the slower 5400 rpm mechanical drive. In other words, this would be your opportunity to speed it up a bit. This would be a 7200 rpm mechanical drive of 500 gigs and would be a nice replacement at a low cost: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Laptop-7200RPM-Cache-ST500LM021/dp/B00ISKS416/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1462017567&sr=8-2&keywords=7mm+laptop+hard+drive Solid state drive which would replace the hard drive: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E250B-AM/dp/B00OAJ412U/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1462017682&sr=1-1&keywords=Samsung+850+Evo If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Hard-disk-error-long-dst-failure-pavilion-11-n010dx/td-p/5603063
hello, my computer had a Windows update today, and now the touchscreen (which was fully functional before the update) is not working. it is not the screen, as this happened once before to me and I did a system restore to fix it. I tried a system restor this time, didn't work. I looked in the Device Manager, and there IS NO DRIVER for my touchscreen. how do I reinstall, it is NOT listed in the driver list on the HP website for my product. help! I have an external DVD CDRW drive that keeps being added then removed added then removed. That is all that it does. You know how Windows XP does. It plays that little two tone sound each time a device is added or removed...it is so annoying. I cannot use the drive as it does not stay "added" long enough. I am stumped...I have never heard anything like it. Have you?
Did the unit ship with drivers? ?
It also might be a cable issue. Inspect that cable or try a new one and or another USB port. If you have it on the front of the case try it on a rear USB port. I've seen machines where the front ports carried less power than the rear ones.

Do you see anything on your screen at all while this is happening?
Have you tried to press the setup key to see if the BIOS will come up and make changes?
Do you have any USB devices (other than keyboard or mouse) hooked up? If so, try disconnecting them and see if it will at least POST or attempt to go into the OS.
WARNING: Before checking the capacitors, disconnect the power cord on your system and press & hold the POWER button to allow the power to discharge! Also, you should always ground yourself before touching computer components to prevent static discharge!
Just FYI, some of the motherboards in this series of HP’s have issues with the capacitors.
You should take a look at the capacitors to see if the tops of them are raised or discolored. Also, if you put your finger on the top of the capacitors, they should feel as if they are INDENTED and not flush or raised. Raising or discoloration (up to and including a black tar looking substance on the tops indicate a leaking capacitor).
Any POST sounds (beeps) produced at all?
Have you tried the monitor from Desktop 1 on this one?
Anything at all displayed on the monitor, to include CHECK CABLE message?
Recommendation: Open the case again and ensure that all the cards, memory, drive cables and so forth are all connect properly and not loose or dislodged.
Do you know how to RESET your BIOS to default using the onboard jumpers?
Here is a detailed link on troubleshooting this issue:

Somtimes I turn it on and it stays on for about three seconds then turns off then on for another three seconds somtimes the lights are very dim red and the fan barly spins and most of the time it dosnt even turn on. Will this happend to me about three month ago and one day it just started working normally but now its been broken for a while and I tried to fix the power button I seen that was the problem on some forums but that didn't work I tried alot of things but nothing seems to work and just turned it off one day and it stopped working so i dont know if its the power source but just give me something to try please.
Have you tried checking on the fan/ ventilation? i use to have this problem with my P3. fan was jam with debris/ dust. when i boot up, it was fine, once i go in to window it freeze. After i got the fan moving (cleaning the dust) it works fine.
Hope it works for you.
Oh, Zenosincks mght have a point there too. Thought my experience was on the CPU. Cheers,

The power button normally doesn?t turn it on at all, though occasionally it boots up normally, starts to load windows, then always cuts out after 5-15 seconds anyway.
It still charges up the batteries fine, but won?t turn on. I?ve checked the ram, hard-drive, and I re-set the bios to defaults - nothing stops it from cutting out if you can get it to turn on.
Any ideas what could be the problem? Any help appreciated, it?s the second time one I?ve had - the same problem last time!
Have you already tried cleaning the fan? Maybe a lot of dust is blocking the fan so the notebook can?t start and turns off itself due a higher temperature. It would be worth a try cleaning it.
But in my opinion you have everything done what you can do and it looks like a mainboard malfunction. If cleaning the fan doesn?t help I think the mainboard is defective or something else. If you are familiar with notebook disassembling you can try to repair it yourself with second hand parts. Otherwise it?s time for a new notebook I think?
I HAVE READ OTHER SIMILAR THREADS ------ My PC actually has the fans turns few shuts after on off seconds, PC retarded, back turns lights AND can t even get anywhere on the BIOS gb ram GT GHz Intel Pentium D gb HD CD ROM Foxconn P A mobo My mom took my PC away from me I got it back and it is retarded now I start the PC the fans come on lights are all good then PC turns retarded, shuts off after few seconds, turns back on about - seconds it shuts off and then comes back on by itself When I turn the power on the monitor does not show anything at all I have tried many of different things Different PSU problem is not the PSU D C the CD ROM HD so it can t be one of those as PC turns retarded, shuts off after few seconds, turns back on a failure stick of RAM my memory is fine Checked ALL of my cables they are connected properly checked many of times unconnected then reconnected alot Replaced the grease between heat sink CPU can t be my CPU or overheating problem Heat sink Fan is properly mounted not loose at all and is flat All of the aluminum capacitors on the mother board are perfectly fine not leaking and PC turns retarded, shuts off after few seconds, turns back on are on proper Reset the mother board a few times well thats MOST of the stuff I have done there is probably more but I can t think of what else I have tried at the moment And BTW can t access BIOS so don t ask if I can get into it Any help would be appreciated nbsp

Do you mean you have tried resetting the bios jumper, on the Motherboard?
If not do that.
Also, have you tried disconnecting all HDD; Floppy; CD data cables (from the motherboard end (actually I'd do case fan too and front USB connection to motherboard)
If this works, you will need to put one back in at a time, until you find the problem
Usually this fault is related to faulty Ram or CPU
Trying to build a system for my brother. I put the 3200+ Athlon XP CPU in and with the heatsink. It turns on for maybe a few seconds and then turns off.
People were saying heatsink but I have tried it on 2, one is the ALK-800A, then some CoolerMaster one. I have to admit the CoolerMaster was originally from my 2100+ setup but still, it's all copper.
I do notice when I remove the CPU, it stays turned on. I know pretty sure this CPU works as I tested like hours before I put it in my brothers. Cant do that now since it was a quite a drive back home from college.
Jumpers? Settings? Anything?

My computer turns off then pressed again and turns on fine. This maybe due i went cheap and got a psu with case but i believe it needs to warm up for it to turn on.
Thanks for the help!
So, I installed Vista yesterday and it was working like a charm and last night I turned the computer off.
I woke up this morning, pressed the power button, lights/fans/computer came on for a few seconds (3 seconds approximately) and then the computer just shut off instantly, then another 3 secondsish later it turned back on and did the same thing, and it keeps doing it.
The only way I could fix it was by unplugging the power cable and turning off the switch at the power socket, I thought it may was a one-off thing.
I left the computer on, got back about 6 hours later and the computer was off (nobody turned it off, no power blackouts etc), I turned it on and it did the same thing. So I had to turn it off at the power etc and it boots up fine and it works.
This wasn't happening until I installed Vista.
Thanks in advance.
I just realised, I haven't been shutting the computer down, just been clicking the power button in the Start Menu (which I have just realised isn't shut down - hovered over it: Keeps your session in memory and puts the computer in a low-power state so that you can quickly resume working). I'm fair sure this is "Sleep" (Vista noob).
I just went into Power Options and saw that Sleep was set to 1 hour, so I'm assuming:
* Last night I put my computer into sleep
* Today it went into sleep by itself (after 1 hour)
Therefore it's a problem with the sleep mode?
Hey guys I need help, during startup Windows Firewall turns off upon system startup and then turns back on a few minutes later, then network connections open up to finish up my bootup process. I have SP3, and this little problem is causing my computer to startup slowly significantly. I have tried scanning for viruses and spyware and have found none, so I really don't know what's causing this to happen.
That's normal, in my experience.
Not just with Windows firewall but any other firewall I've played with...the network connection is the last line of system defense when the system boots.
The firewall won't allow contact with the Internet...until the system is totally setup and out of danger. The firewall activates (along with the other startup items), then the network connection is made.
Hello I m looking for some advice and guidance I am not a technical expert on computer hardware I understand the basics and that s about the extent of it My current PC is a Dell desktop tower it runs Windows it uses an Intel Core Duo processor It is a few years old I d estimate or years old I plug my PC into a Belkin surge protector multi-outlet device which plugs into the wall electrical outlet My problem is that recently the PC randomly has been instantly powering-down and then a few seconds later powering-up again and rebooting This happens twice or turns then randomly turns quickly PC off on itself back times a day on average I have no explanation for it I do know that it s highly annoying and I m concerned and want to do something to fix this problem before any permanent damage occurs to PC randomly turns off then quickly turns itself back on my PC Last week I searched the internet PC randomly turns off then quickly turns itself back on briefly for advice and the two possible causes that popped-up in search results were A overheating or B issues with the power cord Given that over the past week in my spare time I have totally rerouted all the cords and wires behind PC randomly turns off then quickly turns itself back on my computer desk to ensure that no wires were tangling pulling or weighing-down on the power cord for my PC I also totally dusted out the cabinet and backside of the PC tower and gently vacuumed the quot fan quot area on the back of the PC to ensure it was free of dust and lint I removed some random objects from the PC cabinet CD s mice keyboard etc to ensure that there was plenty of quot airflow quot around the PC tower presumably to ensure no overheating I rerouted several electronics that previously shared the Belkin multi-outlet device to another electrical outlet in the room I m not sure if any of these actions was helpful or not but I know that my PC is still having the same original power-off power-on issue no change I also updated and ran the quot Malwarebytes quot anti-malware software and the full scan showed no infections problems identified I am at a loss at this point and would appreciate any help or advice I ve owned several PC s over the past decade or so and I ve never encountered this problem with any of them nbsp
I just swapped my PSU and GPU with RMA ones, swapped out all power cables with new ones and reconnected everything.Tested PSU by itself. It works. It was working prior to me taking out the parts for RMA, but one of those hardware were causing shut-downs.Now when I push the button power after putting in the new parts and connecting everything, it'll start up then stays shut off with the 2 phase LEDs lit up. A green and a yellow.Any suggestions to what the problem is?http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,158604.0.html
Seems I have the same issues as "someonedying" had,
here's my spec.
CPU - Intel Core i5 760 - LGA1156
MoBo - ASUSTeK P7P55D-E LX
RAM - 2pcs of Corsair Dual-Channel DDR3 2GB
VidCard - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470
PSU - Fortron/FSP Everest 80Plus 800
when I turn my computer on, all the lights, the fans together with the MoBo lights turns on for 1 second, then it turns off for 3-4 seconds then turns on again until the OS loads..
when I restart my computer, this doesn't happen anymore.. It only occur when I completely turn the computer and UPS off..
I bought this system a month ago. I have to option to bring this to the shop where I bought it but I want to know what the possible issues are.. Most of computer shops here in our country replaces some parts w/o the owner's knowledge.. >.<
Please help.. Thanks =)
Seriously, I'd take this back to the shop and have them fix this at their expense. I would also take note of the parts you have now and compare them when it is returned.

What, if any, error messages are you getting?
Have you gone into Properties for the LAN card to see if it has any diagnostics?

I leave my computer on for a long times like 1-4 weeks at a time so that may be part of the problem but it doesn't get really hot (it has 7 fans so yea) but back to the problem when its started i turned it on and i wasn't looking and then it turned off (still not looking) and it turned off again and then it on (looking this time) and i saw it booting up then i saw it froze at the windows 7 logo and then either i turned it off or it turned its self off then. Now when i turn it on it turns its self off after few seconds. but when i leave it alone for a day it stays on for 5-15 seconds.
If you can please help me!

okay so i am able to turn my computer on for a few seconds but then it automatically shuts itself off after a few seconds but the thing is after letting it sit for a couple seconds it says something about how the clocks on my processor have been overclocked too high and asks if it wants me to restore them, so i do that and then the computer works fine, but then when i turn it off and turn it back on it does the exact same thing until i get that message again.
any ideas on how i can fix this?
i've tried manually reducing the clocks on my cpu even though they were already at stock clocks and that didnt work

Try resetting the bios on the motherboard.
You can do this by opening up the computer and remove the battery and then reinstall. There are also a jump to do the samething, but you have to look at your motherboards manual /user guide to see where it's located.
When I boot up my computer or restart, and not always but most times, audio from my home web page of ESPN comes on. No web pages have been opened. I can adjust the audio. If I go to the web page I can see which videos the audio came from and if I open them they are behind. It just goes away after a bit 5-10 minutes. Hello I own Toshiba Satellite C55-C1984.
Immediatlty after I turn on my laptop, it turns off and turns on again after few seconds with no apparent reason.
Should I worry about this?
I have an older Compaq laptop that usually works fine, but now when I press the power button it just lights up a few of the lights, makes an odd beeping noise and immediately turns off. Nothing appears on the display and it never goes farther than that. I?ve tried a "hard reset" and reseating the ram modules, but neither worked and I have no idea where to go from here.
Could you mention the make and model of your laptop please and explain what the odd beeping noise is (e.g., is it a quick one beep noise, or long beep noise, or many different beeps?) Any other sounds?
(Have you tried turning on the laptop with the mains power plugged in and the battery out?).
This problem suddenly happened when I came home from school. I have tryed a new power pack, the same happened, I have tried a new motherboard, the same happened.
I have also tried the trick with the paper clip to see if my power switch is broken, but again its the same problem.
Please help, i am so frustrated
I don't know if this would be it but I have seen this type of problem on a computer that turned out to have a bad power and reset switch. One way to check to see if this is the case pull off the wires for the power switch and reset button going to your board. Then you would want to find something like a screw driver or something that you could cross the power pins with and see if the machine does the same thing.

I have an ASUS notebook running windows 7 64-bit. I am using the QuietOffice power profile, however the screensaver won't kick in no matter what I do, and the display does not turn off even though I set it to be after 5-minutes of inactivity. I don't know if there is something running in the background... I have turned off my usb wireless mouse, and nothing....
This is another case of factory bloatware interfering - in this case a useless factory utility overriding Win7's superior built-in version.
Googling the Quiet Office feature of Asus there are multiple reported problems. Best to default to the Win7 built-in Power Options in Control Panel. Set up a Balanced Plan unless you're a gamer then use High Performance.
Here are other tips for cleaning up factory bloatware
I've never seen this problem before in my life and it has me mortified.
My Sony VAIO starts. It's plugged in normally. The power lights flash, it checks the CD-RW drive, and then remains on with the main power light on and the fan on, but the screen remains black and nothing else happens. Windows XP doesn't load. No Sony logo, no "Operating system not found," nothing. It's like it's had a lobotomy.
I haven't installed anything new, and the notebook has just been sitting around unplugged for a few days. The last thing I used it for was to burn a CD with Windows Media Player. The only change I can think of is that my USB tablet isn't plugged in.
Any suggestions? Thanks, everybody.
If it has a battery installed, try removing that. Then with the laptop power plug UNplugged press and hold the power button for a second or two.
Then plug the power adapter back in WITHOUT replacing the battery and see if you can get a normal start.
I have no idea what my sister and her friends were doing on the comp for a couple recov not work computer shut down loading right, sys right, doesn't programs doesn't of days that i decided not to use it but now - a few programs take forever to load or don't load at all but they do show up under the processes tab in the task manager - after pressing Ctrl Alt Del the task manager icon appears in the system tray but the thing only shows up a minute later - my system recovery is quot not able to protect my computer quot and restarting does nothing - actually when restarting or shutting down Windows it stops at where it only shows my desktop background and cursor which is still able to move and nothing else after that so i have programs not loading right, computer doesn't shut down right, sys recov doesn't work to hold the power button and force it to shut off - when I right click the desktop and click on quot Properties quot or something similar to programs not loading right, computer doesn't shut down right, sys recov doesn't work this action it doesn't show up at all and whenever I try to open any application after that they don't even load at all either - and probably other stuff that I haven't took note of yet Things i've tried to get rid of these problems - Virus scan with programs not loading right, computer doesn't shut down right, sys recov doesn't work avast a couple viruses found and fixed but nothing changed - disk clean up nothing changed - registry clean nothing changed - CURRENTLY defragging my C drive hope something changes Anyone know what the heck's going on Anyone got any suggestions on what to do next Anything helps and would be greatly appreciated
no replies yet? :(
anyway, just stopped by to say that when shutting down, it takes forever to get to the "Saving your settings..." screen, and that's where I decided that it stops and nothing else after that.
Defragged my C drive, still no results besides the computer feeling a bit smoother-running o_o
I have a 4y old Sony VAIO (VGN-NS11J) that stopped working today morning after making a whirring noise
Repeated attempts to restart failed and after many attempts, I managed to get to the Startup Repair mode - after a long time, startup repair says it failed to automatically repair the problem
I managed to run system restore but after a while I got the following message: "System restore failed due to an unspecified error. The disk strucgture is corrupted and unreadable (0X80070571)
My laptop did not come with a Windows Vista CD/Recovery disk
My first priority is to recover a few files in the laptop - if I am able to do this, then I dont mind junking the laptop
Since this is an old laptop, I would prefer not to use an expensive professional to recover the data
Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated!

I have a dell inspiron n it has the following specs years since purchse core i GB b of RAM nvidia gt graphics card gb dedicated Windows bit GB HDD The laptop was or screen booting turn beeps no doesn't on, Laptop boot, sounds doesn't are heard error working fine yesterday and when i went to sleep i properly turned it off without any errors occurring Today when i turned it on - -the power button turns on -the three support buttons on the top Laptop doesn't boot, screen doesn't turn on, no error beeps or booting sounds are heard right corner of the laptop flash -i can see battery and power notification lights but the hard drive light doesn t blink or turn on -i can hear and in fact glimpse the fan working -the screen shows nothing it isn t a black screen because that would imply that the screen still turns on but the screen remains off nbsp -I hear no error beeps or any kind of booting sounds -I should also probably mention that recently the AC adapter of the laptop wasn t working properly and i had part of its main connecting wires replaced while keeping the circuit board or main work board intact and it worked fine after that but i am guessing the repair may have something to do with this new issue I have tried the hard reset or flea power method hoping it would solve the problem but it hasn t work even after multiple attempts The laptop is no longer under warranty and if the issue is dire and i suspect it is i would have to send the computer to a dell support nbsp and repair center and i have nbsp heard maintenance and repair costs may be as much as the laptop s price depending on the nature of the fault nbsp But at this moment i have no idea what the fault is nbsp Please suggest any faults that may cause such a situation and a suitable course of action for a solution
This fixed my problem with my Lenovo. Thanks so much!http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19516269

Hi Everyone nbsp I'm sorry if a similar question doesn't and the Y580 charge charger doesn't detect has already Y580 doesn't charge and doesn't detect the charger been posted here but I couldn't find it myself I'm having really weird problems with my brand new Y It doesn't detect the charger and because of this - won't charge I managed to figure out how to temporarily fix the problem but it keeps on happening Long story short nbsp What's wrong after applying a temporary fix and the laptop IS charging when I unplug the charger and plug it back in again the laptop doesn't detect it it keeps on draining the battery and does't prompt that a charger is connected The same happens when I close the lid and open it again - the charger magically disconnects itself nbsp My temporary fix I somehow managed to get the laptop working when connected to the charger after applying these steps nbsp OS shut downbattery removedcharger unpluggedpressed power button once just for a second charger plugged to a different wall socketcharger plugged to the laptoppower button pressed once laptop boots up when the OS loads up battery inserted again nbsp As I mentioned this fixes my problem only temporarily as I can't close the lid or unplug the charger without repeating the same procedure I'm pretty sure the same thing happens when I simply switch the laptop off from the OS level nbsp I'm using Windows now but the same thing happended when I was on Windows nbsp Has anybody had a similar experience I appreciate your help and advice nbsp Piotr nbsp
Hi again, I checked the charger again and it seems that it's not working when I unplug it a plug it back in. If I get the charger working and close/open the lid or restart the machine, it is still working fine. Any ideas why unplugging and re-plugging the charger makes it unavailable for the laptop? Have a friend with a relatively new Lenovo laptop using Windows XP SP3. Overnight he can't access the Internet via browsers, email or AIM. His desktop connected to the same router is working fine.
He can access the router by IP address using either IE7 or FireFox 3.5. Anything that needs a DNS server doesn't work. This does say though that he has a working connection to the router.
He's run MalWareBytes and his own McAffee software looking for bad stuff but has found nothing.
Running "ipconfig /all" from the command prompt gives exactly the same results for the laptop as his working desktop. The DNS servers are there. He can ping the DNS servers using their IP addresses. He is being assigned a proper local network address so DHCP is working on the router.
Any thoughts on where to look next to discover why the Internet applications don't seem to be able to find the DNS servers?
FWIW, my friend took his laptop to a PC shop. Their diagnosis was malware. I don't know the identity of the malware. Anyway, the shop saved his data then formatted and reloaded XP SP3.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/239603/cant-access-websites-email-doesnt-work-and-no-aim-doesn/

I am quite new here, but I've been wanting to get this problem solved for a long time, and I haven't seemed to get any answer.
So here's my problem:
I bought my Asus N53SV for around a year ago, and it worked great. But for some reason something changed.
When I try to open bluetooth, nothing happens. And when I want to connect anything using bluetooth, it doesn't work.
I tried to do this:
[windows] + r >bttray
But nothing opens up.

Welcome to Seven Forums.
You would need to re-install Bluetooth software/driver for your system. Please check the link below for finding out the drivers:

Hi safemode reboot, XP work doesn't doesn't xp stopped responding and I decided to power off Was never able to restart after that Normal boot shows the windows initial screen but eventually just restarts safe mode does the same thing whether it s with network XP doesn't reboot, safemode doesn't work command line or plain safe mode Last known good configuration does the same Needed to use a file so decided to remove the HD and re-install to another PC I did have access to the file in question but now I d like to fix the problem The other system uses AVG I started a scan and it detected Cekar d A exe wdfmgr exe and initially ntldr exe Dropper Inor ntdetect hta A hta PSW Generic ABVW ctfmona exe PSW OnlineGames AAFI ctfmonb exe PSW Generic AFYK ctfmond exe PSW OnlineGames ZWT LotusHlp exe and some others but for whatever reason the scan stopped I restarted it and now the AV still finds most of the threats it was seeing before but not Cekar d in the ntldr exe file The system that had the problem was running Win XP Home SP Unfortunately I can t find the manufacturer s recovery CD HD is still in the other PC How should I attack the problem nbsp
Update... Three passes of AVG and all threats were put in vault. Tried to re-install the HD to the initial system but no change... System says it didn't start correctly, that a new software of hardware could be responsible, the suggests to try las known good config, none of the options work, they all perform some tasks then windows reboots and ends up in the same screen.
Hello,I have a big problem with my 5400, after changing the hard disk for a bigger one and realizing it wasn't detected by the bios, I decided to reinstall the previous one. Now the computer doesn't start windows and it doesn't load the windows dvd from the dvd reader. I've tried to boot from a usb drive but it seems the usb ports aren't detected by the bios.I've noticed that the dvd driver and the hdd is not detected for the bios if the sata mode is set to AHCI but they are detected when "compatibilty" mode is set.I've also tried to get into the diagnosis utility but I'm getting this weird message:BPF Version Check ErrorWhat's this? After showing the message, the computer restarts and I can't access the utility. If anyone has some info regarding this, I'd appreciate it.Thanks.
it also happened to me. You solved?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-C-E-K-M-N-and-V-Series/M5400-doesn-t-boot-and-doesn-t-detect-anything/td-p/2246251

Help my windows 7 laptop just keeps rebooting and i cant get to safe mode or recovery what should i do ?
System manufacturer and model?
hi, I know there are many in the forum who have the same problem as mine.

I tried to use system restore to earlier dates, it still can't startup. The computer has trojan virus before and I tried the anti-malware from internet to kill them. seems that it create more problem for my PC. I have some important files in the computer that I wish I have archived.
wonder if any one can help. thx in advance.
I'll report this topic to appropriate helpers.
Hold on there...
Updated to Windows from Windows two weeks ago Had problems with Firefox Tried to download to replace existing Firefox CNET site appeared to be correct but something seemed wrong so I killed the download But - The windows start menu doesn't come up when I click on the icon but if I right-click a text menu does appear and lets me for example shut down - If I click on the Windows End icon in the task bar the screen flashes but End does not come up Ditto for the Windows Store icon - Somewhere SpyBot S amp D was erased etc windows - problems 10 doesn't appear, menu windows doesn't start key work, but I was able to download it - If I double-click on a photo in Windows Explorer I get a popup that lists the name of the jpeg and says Invalid Entry to Registry If I right click on the photo and go to any of the options the photo is opened except if I choose Photo - Firefox cannot properly display the Yahoo mail page though Pale Moon windows 10 problems - start menu doesn't appear, windows key doesn't work, etc and Opera can - I have Avast Anti-Virus and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and when I run their scans they find no issues SO there are a few issues that I need help with
Well the first thing you should try is to Run System Restore to before all of these problems started or to when you first installed Windows 10.
Then try to download Firefox from there website
Third thing is I would recommend to get rid of Avast it is low end and could be allowing virus I recommend ether McAfee or Norton Security.
Those are some things to think about
but it is all up to you when making your final decision
Everything turns on, fans and everything. It's a completely new build. No input detected from a Samsung monitor.
I've swapped ram sticks to see if one of them is dead
I've reseated the video card
Don't know what to do.
Gonna pop my 4870 X2 into the computer to see if the video card is DOA. If not, the motherboard?
your vga could be causing the issue, but that's only if you dont have onboard video as well.
Next time you post with a problem, make sure you give us detailed specs of your rig, when you dont its like saying "Hey, I have a red car, and it wont start."

Hello, Welcome to TSF.
I'm nasdaq and will be helping you.
You may wish to Subscribe to this thread (Thread Tools > Subscribe to this thread) so that you are notified when you receive a reply.
Please read these instructions carefully and then print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the fix.
Note that the fix may take several posts. Please continue to respond to my instructions until I confirm that your logs are clean. Remember that although your symptoms may vanish, this does NOT mean that your system is clean.
If there is anything you don't understand, please ask BEFORE proceeding with the fixes.
Please ensure that you follow the instructions in the order I have them listed.
Please do not install or uninstall any programs, or run any other scanners or software, unless I specifically ask you to do so. Also please copy and paste logs into the thread, rather than add them as attachments.
Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:
* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
Disable your Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
Some Rookit infection may damage your boot sector. The Windows Recovery Console may be needed to restore it. Do not bypass this installation. You may regret it.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.
Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:
Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
Note: If you have difficulty properly disabling your protection programs, refer to this link --> How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs
Do not mouse click ComboFix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall
For AVG antivirus and anti-spyware security software users only.
Due to recent changes in AVG and how it interacts with CF, AVG must be uninstalled to run ComboFix. You will get a message from CF stating such.
If AVG will not uninstall, it is first recommended to uninstall it with this AppRemover by Opswat. The AVG uninstaller can be downloaded from here > AppRemover.exe Go to their homepage and you will see they have support for removal of other AV's as well AVG appremover tool.
Sometimes suddenly my pc just turns its self off. It happens in just a second or two. I hear a click and then its off. It has done this 6 or more times. The last couple of times when I pushed the button on the front of the pc it would not turn on right away. I would push the button in and hold if for a few secs and release and nothing would happen. I triend to push it in quickly and release and nothing happened. It was only after 5-10 minutes that it would work.
Heat? Bad connections? New or old problem? More when hot from use?
My problem with a pc is that sometimes it powers up sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I have to keep pushing the power button like a hundred times before the pc respond. On some days it only takes a few attempts to power it up. Actually this is my neighbor's pc -- in fact, two of them exactly the same make on the hardwares (power supply, motherboard, casing, cpu, fan, memory, etc.) and both have the same problem. They are clones by the way. Anybody who can help me please?
My computer is a Acer Aspire v5, with windows 8. It will only light up a black screen where I can move my mouse across without lags, but this is how far it comes, the Acer logo appeard the first time I turned it on but after I shut it down with the on/off button it just shows me the black screen with the possibility to move the mouse.
So when you turn this laptop on now, you get no Acer logo or BIOS screen? Absolutely nothing...? If that's right, then try disconnecting the mains adaptor power lead which plugs into the laptop. Remove the battery from the laptop, then hold down the laptop's on/off switch for 10 seconds, then release it. Leave the battery out for the moment, but now plug the mains adaptor power lead back into the laptop. Switch on, and see what happens. If it works, then switch off, remove power lead from laptop, replace battery in laptop, connect power and restart.http://community.acer.com/t5/Veriton/It-turns-on-but-that-s-it/td-p/313452/jump-to/first-unread-message

Hello everybody! I have an issue with my Dell 710 XPs. After i click power button, it turn on, and after 1 second it does turns off. all fans are spinning as normal.I have took all ram sticks out to identify the problem, after i have took them out, computer does turns on and making long beep signals. As soon as i put 1 ram stick back, it back to the same problem.
Can anybody tell me what this can be? i also tested psu, and it does give me correct voltage.
I have also check Motheboard for blown capacitors, there is no blown capacitors they just a bit fat. The numbers on them are c391, c395,c396, What are this capacitors do?
Capacitors are used in circuits to regulate voltage - prevent sags and spikes. If any of them have bulging tops (which is what your description sounds like) they have failed, whether or not they've outrigt blown out - you will need to replace the mainboard (and it would be a good idea to replace the power supply as well, since they've been on the downward spiral for some time, and may have caused damage to it as well).http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19993533
