Dell Latitude E7250 - bios PXE UEFI bug

Q: Dell Latitude E7250 - bios PXE UEFI bug

Hi! :-)
On an A12 BIOS on my E7250, UEFI PXE booting doesn't appear in one-time boot menu and BIOS configuration (of course UEFI Network Stack and NIC w/PXE boot is enabled). After downgrading BIOS to A00, it magically comes back, but after updating back to A12 - it's gone again.
I've also tried A08, no option in here, so it was probably broken before.Legacy NIC boot works nicely and flawlessly.
Are there any Dell guys out here who could forward it to BIOS development team?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I ve been trying to get all of the machines in our organization up-to-speed on the latest standards nbsp I figured that as long as anyone is getting any NEW machine imaged and set up for them that machine might as well be set up in UEFI mode with GPT partitioning as those are the latest standards for PCs We have a lot of Dell machines and I UEFI my E7250 Professional detect doesn't 7 - Latitude drive Windows reinstallation USB mode in have had no problem getting tons of them booting to my Windows Professional installation USB drives in UEFI mode and installing Latitude E7250 - doesn't detect my Windows 7 Professional USB reinstallation drive in UEFI mode a build of Latitude E7250 - doesn't detect my Windows 7 Professional USB reinstallation drive in UEFI mode Windows in UEFI mode using GPT partitioning for the drive nbsp E s E s Latitude E7250 - doesn't detect my Windows 7 Professional USB reinstallation drive in UEFI mode E s all work fine The Latitude E doesn t even detect the USB drive that I plug into it that has worked flawlessly for so many other machines nbsp I have the latest BIOS A nbsp Secure Boot is disabled nbsp I have tried plugging in the USB drive in a USB port on the E-Port Plus docking station nbsp I have disabled USB nbsp The machine does not detect USB devices in UEFI mode This is a laptop that costs north of Dell nbsp For real

A:Latitude E7250 - doesn't detect my Windows 7 Professional USB reinstallation drive in UEFI mode

This is not Dell's doing - it's Microsoft and Intel at work.  They removed the ability to boot Skylake-based systems from USB to install WIndows 7:
wccftech.com/.../
While you can find ways around it (see below), whatever reasons you have for running Windows 7 should be very seriously rethought now -- the Skylake platform is the very last Intel platform that will run 7 -- the soon to be released 7th generation (Kaby Lake) CPUs will not run Windows 7 at all.

Hi,
So I have Dell Latitude e7250 with i7 CPU (5600) and the CPU temperature is reaching 103 C when it's under load.
I did the self test and I got a warning about the temperature out of range issue.
Is it normal for this laptop ? Please note that I'm not getting any auto restart or shutdown, just seeing overheat using HW monitor SW.

Hi Aghanem
Thanks for writing to us.
Is there is a performance lag? Is the machine overheating to the extend that you cant touch the machine?

Does anyone know of a way or download I can use to remove an existing service tag on a Dell system board? Working on a Dell Latitude E7250.

Your feedback would be much appreciated.

Hi there guys I have the following:
- when booting my notebook using Legacy Bios mode the sound card is visible
- when booting the notebook under UEFI Bios, the sound card "disappears"
As a result I have tried DOUBLE Windows 7 Ultimate (64) installation: in Legacy mode all works fine - In UEFI mode, no sound (sound card is not visible in the device manager and there's no "unknown device" in the list).
This could be a firmware bug. I'd like to use UEFI Bios and have the soundcard visible!
Please don't suggest to run diags, as I have said, in Legacy mode the sound card is visible and fully funcrional. BTW I can't run DELL Pre-Boot utilities because I have wiped out disk partitions before installing
My notebook:
DELL Latitude E6520 with BIOS A01

A:Latitude E6520 + UEFI Bios = No sound card

The notebook has passed the ePSA diagnostics. No problems detected.
My 2 cents:
- A) Some UEFI settings in the BIOS may conflict, technical support should tell how to configure properly
- B) Faulty firmware (A01) - Hope in a quick fix

Whatever, two words from a DELL Technician would help a lot

Hello, I have a Dell Latitude E7250 that I recently reset it to factory settings. When I tried tuning laptop on afterwards and a screen that pops up that says, "Windows isn't Activated" then when I scroll down and click on the "Activation Details" section it says
Error Code: 0x80072EE7
The serve name or address could not be resolved

The laptopl will not let me go online with WIFI, stating that there ae no Wifi connections available.
Could anyone tell me how I could resolve this without having to connect to WIFI with the laptop?
Please and Thanks!

Did you do a factory recovery, or  a reinstallation of Windows?  If the latter, where did the copy of Windows come from?  What version (7, 8 or 10)?

I have a fairly new laptop and the cover is peeling from the casing.  Is this covered by the warranty as I would have thought this should not be happening so soon.  The service tag is CJY4J72 and the laptop is less than a year old.

Your images are not linked -- but you should call Dell support to see what they say.
If it's cosmetic damage, they won't cover it -- if it's a manufacturing defect, they should.

Me and 2 co-workers got new computers, E7250.
Together with the E-Port Plus II docking station. (PR02X)
Problem is that one of the external monitors keeps flickering to black, as if loss of signal after a while.
Docking out and in again solves it, or removing the DVI-cable and putting it in again.I run 3 external monitors + internal.
Co-workers runs 3 external only.Same on all, one of the external monitors flickers.I have the latest BIOS, latest driver for GPU and Chipset. This does not help.Any suggestions?

Why is the XPS 9550 POST speed so slow. The amount of time it takes from when you press the power button to when it starts Windows is about 5-7 seconds. This slows the startup time of the laptop significantly! With an SSD a cheaper Acer computer beats this computer to POST by about 3-5 seconds. It takes the Acer about 2 seconds to start booting Windows. I am on the latest BIOS/UEFI as of 24/04/2016 which is 01.02.00. I suspect this could be something to do with fast booting! Please fix this as it would be amazing to have a faster booting computer!

You will need to call Dell with two things:
1.  verification of ownership, and
2.  a credit card (the call won't be free of charge).
They will help you clear the password.

This is a tough one, That can be a problem with buying from Ebay is that if you don't have information of the original purchaser then any existing warranty may not transfer to you,  and tech support will not be able to offer any services, or even help with a BIOS password.  If you haven't already i suggest contacting tech support again and showing all the documents that you have to verify ownership.
This document goes over more on recovering hardware passwords.

Trying to upload this E5530 bios. When thru detect drivers which shows
"Dell Latitude E5530 System BIOS, non-vPro supported (Broadcom TruManage)"A16 as the correct one. It reboots, doesn't display anything and then after I login a window pops up and says no changes were made. I've also tried A10, same thing. I didn't think about the fact that it's in a docking station until I'm just now typing this message. Could that be the issue? I'm not onsite today so can't check for a couple of days.

I also tried the boot cds you link in some posts, but i cant not boot from the cd even if i take out hdd...Im becoming crazy! could you help me?

A:Dell Latitude D620 BIOS Password

Short answer: You need the original password.
That unit has been refurbished by a Dell-authorized shop (as all with the 595B are) so the restore discs cannot be used.
All of the suggestions your tried, are known not to work in that model... The D600 and D620 are the most difficult of all Dells to fix. You will likely need to replace the motherboard with one known to work. Most of the boards on eBay have the same problems you have.

If anyone could help (Rustam I have heard mentioned) I would be most greatful. I got the above mentioned laptop off ebay for an ill family member whom cant get around too well and needs a good laptop for computing.

Its service tag is f86mgc1-595b

I was able to remove one password with removing the cmos battery, but it still has the main passwords in the bios locked. The unlock -setup- password, admin password are locked. I reset the system password by removing the cmos battery.

We'd be most greatful.

See the thread on this forum related to this issue. It will take a long time to read through it, and there is even a disc available that if often helpful... some models cannot be saved, while most others can be rescued.

Hi, I have repeated experience of failed BIOS firmware update on Dell e5570. More precisely the part
"Sending Intel (R) Management Engine Firmware Update" always hangs on 100% and never finishes.  The annoying thing is that laptop cannot be shutdown via power button (even with the long press) and I have to wait hours till my battery dies :-(
Im trying to update BIOS from 1.6.3 to 1.7.3. In the end, I have 1.7.3 BIOS version, but Embedded Controller stays on A07 instead of A11 so I got my PC into middle of versions :-( First broken thing I noticed is WiFi always turned off after wake from sleep or after startup.
Dell support, please help. I need new BIOS (and Embedded Controller) to resolve some NVMe and other issues with the laptop.
Thanks, M.

I have seen several people with the same problem. My daughter received a Dell Latitude C400 from her boss and it was working. Somehow the bios password got set and I cannot resolve it. I have spoken with Dell support and they generated a passwork that did not work. I have also tried to use latitude.exe with the same results. I have read that it will not work with a service code ending in -595B. I have also read that member name removed can get around this problem. Can anyone help.

I've had a look around the other threads and nobody seems to have a clear answer on how to get around the grey screen which is stopping me from loading up my laptop.
It asks for the system/admin password which I don't have as I bought this from an auction in work.

If anybody can help me to crack this I will be very happy!

I updated the BIOS on my D600 to the latest version A16, last released 2005. Is a BIOS from the D630 released 2008 usable? They seem extremely similar.

A:Dell Latitude d630 BIOS usable on D600?

unless they are the same MB, I would seriously doubt that the BIOS are compatible. Also, are the bios not working on your current mobo? If they are working, there is no need to update.

Hello,
I desperately need a Bios Dump of an Dell E6430 Version A18, as somehow it is impossible to update the Bios (currently it is A14). I have some problems with networking when using a docking station I hope to solve with this..Please no advice how to update Bios, I already tried everything(!). The Laptop does just a reboot instead of flashing the update.
I can create a dump of A14 from Windows using Intels FPTW (64bit Version) without a problem, so I hope it will work with A18 as well.At least using Windows 7 Pro 64bit with Adminstrator account. If anybody with an E6430 and A18 could just create a dump (just click "dump.bat") and upload it here it would really make me happy.

With best regards
André

I have a Dell Latitude D630 and the motherboard died, It's out of warrenty so I bought a Motherboard on ebay. The Bios Service Tag does not match the number on the bottom so I would like to chage it to the correct one. How can I do this?

I read about a DST CD = Dell Service Technician CD that has this option but I can't find one.

It's not a real important thing but when I use the Dell System ID application it reads the Bios Service tag and not the real system tag that Is registered to me.

Dear Community,
Do you guy knew if Dell E7250 is able to install ADDITIONAL ssd in M.2 Expansion Slots?
In the specification it's show there are free M.2 slot for WWAN or SSD.

If it's support what SSD M.2 model should i but 2242?

A:Dell E7250 SSD Expansion Slot

The additional slot referenced is in the E-dock expansion adapter - NOT the system.  The system takes only one internal M.2 drive.
If you have (or purchase) the E-dock port adapter, you'll have the additional M.2 slot.

After updating to BIOS A15, the keys to my Dell Latitude E5440 get "stuck" again with Linux. This has been a problem for many frustrating months back when I originally bought it, then solved by a BIOS update eventually, and now back again with A15. A14 worked fine.

So I downloaded the image from Dells site and put it on a USB and booted from it. My SSD does show up, but it gives me an error when I try to install it on a partition. I forgot the exact error, but it says something about checking the log which I also can't find. I even tried deleting the partition and installing it on the volume it shows and even tried creating a new one. None of it worked.

Basically I took out the old SSD (I think its an M2 SSD) and put in a larger one and just want to put Windows on it again.

Hi,
Hopefully someone can help with the problem we have.  We have purchased several E7250 and E7450 laptops, which we've managed to configure with our corporate image but, when applying McAfee Endpoint Encryption v5.2.12, the following reboot reports an error at startup
"Error: 0xe002001b
No Boot disk was found"
We've applied this version of EEPC to all our previous Latitude models without issue, it's just this new model range.
We've tried imaging using AHCI and RAID, other don't change the outcome.

If anyone has an answer to this, we'd be most grateful.
TIA

Joseph mate best leave as is after all it was made to function as it came. Now for the compound and copper shim personally I would not bother with the copper shim I can see no good reason for it the dual pipe again if it was made to work with one pipe then leave alone.

It is better if you renew the compound using a decent cleaner and compound and I can recommend these for that job

Arctic Silver Incorporated - ArctiClean for thorough cleaning and preparation and Arctic Silver Incorporated - Arctic Silver 5 for the compound.

Now it depends on who you listen to but I always use these products and after the old compound is thoroughly cleaned off and the surfaces prepped I spread the compound very thinly and across the both entire surface of the CPU and the heatsink with my finger inside a vinyl or latex glove and then place a rice grain sized piece of compound on the CPU and replace the heatsink. If you touch the surfaces after clean and prep then redo it.

While you are in there do make sure the fan and the radiator are really spotless and I sometimes relube the fan bearings to make sure the fan is running at full tilt when needed.

Good Evening All,

I having a problem with my Dell Latitude D610.

I went to update the BIOS and it said that the battery is not installed despite the laptop running solely off of battery power!

I have ran the dell device diagnostic and device manager and no issue appears to be with the battery. When you check the battery info in the BIOS settings it says the batteries are not installed and also when you log into XP it constantly says running off of AC power even when its not plugged in!

Any one got any ideas what could be causing this and how it can be solved?

Thanks Nick

A:Dell Latitude "battery not installed" preventing BIOS update

It may be referring to the CMOS battery which is wired to the computer beneath the keyboard. The battery can be replaced for $8.95 to $29.95 depending on where you purchase...

But regardless, you do have a problem that must be resolved. The D610 has been one strange little irrelevant problem after another... but you cannot afford to irritate it and have that mysterious unremovable password appear as it has on so many D610 and D620 Dells.

A:Dell TB15 Desktop Dock - Step-by-step driver/firmware/BIOS installation instructions for XPS, Latitude and Precision notebooks [UPDATED 04-22-16]

Unfortunately I see no updates to firmware or drivers from what I already have for the TB15 and my XPS 15 9550. I have experienced issues with the Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller Driver (generating BSOD's) and the mini-Displayport connection from the TB15 to an external monitor (screen blanks out). Time is running out for me. I will be forced to return my TB15 this week.

A:Dell WD15 Desktop Dock - Step-by-step driver/firmware/BIOS installation instructions for XPS, Latitude and Precision notebooks [UPDATED 04-22-16]

Hi Brian
Thanks for being active on this issue. (This thread was closed - so had to use the TB-15 Thunderbolt thread above this one). Thanks for opening this one for WD-15
I've been having  most of the problems mentioned in the other Thunderbolt dock  thread .. USB problems, fan noise, not recognising on startup,
I tried the driver list above (for 5510 win7 64) and some refused to install because they were for xps product not  precision. However I when on 5520 support page (for the nth time) and found a new USB driver. ie > Chipset_Driver_V2WY5_WN32_1.16.32.1_A01.EXE
I've installed that but NOPE ... still has USB problems eg stuff like usb (2) keyboard not working. BUT unplug/replug the dock at USB C connection at laptop and it works !! (but this is a PITA and probably will wreck the socket in the long run).
I guess my point is please sync the support page and this support forum if you can, we all love Dell but would appreciate some reciprocating :-)

So I have a Dell Latitude E5570 and I'm wanting to install Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on it so we can use Bitlocker.  I was able to create the flash bootable flash drive, add the OS to the drive, embed the USB3 drivers, etc.  However, when I boot I can select the USB device as a UEFI device and it looks like its going to start the install, but then it just hangs at Starting Windows.  The system is currently running Windows 7 pro in legacy mode, but I'm needing Windows 7 ultimate in UEFI mode to run bitlocker (the TPM used by bitlocker will not work if the OS was installed using legacy and the BIOS UEFI).  Thanks in advance

You need to prepare a new WIndows 7 boot media set -- see here:

So apparently the E laptops are a bit difficult to get Windows on in UEFI mode due to the new chipset and USB only support nbsp Anyways I was able to get a Windows Ultimate ISO copied it onto a USB drive formatted Fat and embeded USB and Samsung HD drivers nbsp I m able to boot and install ultimate from the USB as a legacy device nbsp However I am NOT able to install via the USB drive as a UEFI device nbsp It acts like it is going to work but just sits as the quot Starting Windows quot screen nbsp The reason I need to install it via UEFI is I need bitlocker enabled and from what I can find bitlocker will not work on Windows ultimate if the OS was installed via the legacy option on a UEFI enabled system it has issues with the TPM nbsp Is there anyone out there who knows how to get around this nbsp I really don t want to go to Windows and bitlocker is a must for these laptops nbsp Thanks

You had another thread about this - did your build of Windows include SP1 (it must - the original version won't work)?
Also - is the system set for AHCI mode (NOT RAID on?)

Hi There,

I just built a desktop with a sabertooth x79 motherboard, and am running Windows 8.1 pro 64-bit. When I click the UEFI BIOS Firmware live tile via the change PC settings>update and recovery>recovery>etc. my computer reboots normally to Windows and will not open BIOS. I have tried accessing it using the delete and f2 keys, but this does nothing either.

Any ideas? I am up to date in terms of my BIOS, and am definitely running UEFI and not legacy.

Thank you so much.

I have a Dell Latitude D630. It has an admin password for the bios. Nothing is locked except for the settings. I can't change any of the settings in the bios. It lets me boot to windows just fine though. My question is, since I don't know that admin password for the bios, if I upgrade the bios firmware, will the admin password be deleted? Since I'm flashing the bios, I would think that all the settings will be lost. Is that the case?

A:Will upgrading the bios firmware on a Latitude D630 delete the bios admin password?

What?

Didn't you reply here, and say it worked (after the unusual 9th try ) http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic109612-109.html#post747024

Awfully strange!

A bios update can't remove passwords. As You Must Know

Oh and thanks for the extended long Title. I'm thinking this Topic of yours would be best removed? What do you think?

Hey guys.
Pretty much what the title says - Dell's new, recently-released ControlVault driver (version A19) does not successfully install on a Dell Latitude E6330.  I followed the driver installation order from the "Dell Business Client Re-Image 'How-To' Guide" and installed the Dell ControlVault driver last.  It did not work.
Attached is a screenshot of what I got, and the Windows Installer log.

I installed Windows 7 64-bit on my Latitude E6400. I cannot seem to find any way to install Dell Control Point. I got the Driver Pack to install. I found one download of Security Manager that worked, but I would like the Power Manager one.

I've looked on this forum a few times and any links I click on just redirect me to the Drivers and Downloads page. I get errors saying that my service pack is not supported.....I'm on Windows 7 Service Pack 1. I also got some 32-bit errors, but that's my fault for downloading the 32-bit version.

Does anybody have a link to the full Dell Control Point package (Power Manager, Connection Manager, Security Manager) that will work on 64-bit Windows 7?

Thanks
-Ryan

The Win 7  Control Point System Manager files are a bit tricky to find, but they can be downloaded from the following link.

This should help if you have installed the correct drivers in the correct order.

for the basics and schoolwork
and which is newer

A:which is better dell latitude e5440 or dell latiude e6430

The E6430 has a metal case and is more robust, but uses an older CPU and chipset.
The E5440 is a plainer chassis with a newer generation CPU and chipset.
The E6440 is the concurrent update to the E5440.
There are too many possible configurations to definitively say which is better -- it depends on the CPU, GPU, etc. in the specific model (or that you choose when you order one, but since the E6430 isn't a current model,  you may be looking at used systems).

Hello Computer,

Here's a quick way to tell what mode you are using.

BIOS Mode - See if Windows Boot in UEFI or Legacy Mode

Hope this helps,

I own a Dell Latitude E6430.   I am looking for a Dell Companion 12000mAh or 18000mAh type of device to power and charge my Dell Lattitude E6430 when I am traveling (no outlet available).   When I view the compatibility list for both the Dell Companion 12000mAh and the 18000mAh I don't see the Dell Latitude E6430 in either list.  I went and purchased the 12000mAh and I am attempting to use this to charge and power my Dell Latitude E6430.  It powers my Dell Laptop for about a minute and then quits.   Is there a solution for this problem?   And/or is there another Dell Companion type device that I can purchase that is listed as 100% compatible with the Dell Latitude E6430?   I would like to either get this solution working or purchase the product that is listed as 100% compatible.

Never have run into "It is old fashioned cursor less one.", can't comment on that.

If it is using Secure Boot it most likely is UEFI. Since it is new it either is properly set up or you need to contact ASUS about getting it fixed.

I want to keep my RecoveryPartition, but also want to partition the 750GB HDD into three partitions.
What tools may help, what are the cavetats, where are the minefields?
Is there a tutorial somewhere?

A:UEFI Bios, Win 8 and big HDD - How to partition the HDD

The Windows built in partition tool can do that.

Lots of third party options for this as well but 3 partitions 750GB nothing special to create three partitions there.

Although in my opinion Windows 8 is simply NOT dual boot friendly at all, something to keep in mind.

Hi
I have windows 8.1 installed on 120gb ssd. I also have a 1tb HDD too. So I was trying to install Hackintosh/Linux when I noticed that the System Reserved partition was on my HDD instead of the SSD. So, I used easybtc to migrate my boot files to my SSD. I deleted the system reserved partition. Now I want to convert my BIOS to UEFI. I have Z87 pro mobo.

I tried this tutorial: https://social.technet.microsoft.com...n-to-uefi.aspx

But it seems to be geared at the C drive, where I don't have room for that 350mb as disk utility wont let me shrink it.

Edit: would downloading a third party partitioner, shrinking C about 350mb, or whatever is the minimum, and then use that new space as described in the guide work?

If you have Windows 7 installed, & two HDD's, you can clone Legacy to UEFI.

The above is for Windows 7 x64, Paragon 14 has a app for Windows 8/8.1.

I'm expecting delivery later in the week of my new laptop. I selected Windows 7 Professional option as installed OS but OEM are including Windows 8.1 Professional media, as well.

Not sure how this works, but I'm wondering if I will have UEFI or bog-standard BIOS to contend with for firmware interface.

Does a standard exist for this, or is it down to OEM requirements.

A:UEFI/BIOS Query

We would need to know the exact model laptop you are receiving to know what BIOS you will be getting. UEFI is the most likely (if new) but it depends on how new/old your laptop is.

Is the new laptop the one you added info for in the system specs or is that the PC you're using now?

If its not the new one, please post which Laptop/model you're getting

Hello. I have a S3-391-6497 which came with Windows 7.Currently it has BIOS 1.29. If I upgrade it to UEFI 2.17, would it enable Windows 8 Fast Boot feature?(I'm aware that it needs GPT partitions and maybe other technical adjustments) Thanks.

A:S3-391 BIOS to UEFI upgrade possible?

no, you can't.you can't mix BIOS versions, so: BIOS 1.x can be updated only with 1.x updatesBIOS 2.x can be updated only with 2.x updates

I have an SSD System Drive which contains Win 7 64bit Professional OS and all of my Programs, which was built on a GB BIOS MB, so has MBR Boot Sector.
I wish to transfer this SSD, complete as is, to a new GB MB which has UEFI Boot Sector and then install Chipset Drivers.
a) Is this idea sound.
b) Are there any associated issues doing it this way.
c) Recommended Best Procedures, if my idea is wrong.

Experts advice please.

A:BIOS MB & UEFI MB Installation

You can use the SSD as is, you don't have to use the UEFI "GPT" drive format.

However, is the Win 7 64 bit Professional you have an "OEM" version or a full license version? If its an OEM version legally it is only licensed for the original PC (motherboard) it was installed on. Its iffy on whether Microsoft will activate an OEM on a different system. If its a full version there shouldn't be any problem activating it on the new motherboard.
