I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hello! I have made many driver pachages and image loads of lenovo pc, but i cant figure this one out. I think I have spent 4 hours of researching and I have realised I need to put down my pride. I need help. Using:Sccm 2007.WinPe 3.1 I'm using the Onelink+ pro usb to RJ45 adapter to get ethernet. It says it supports PXE. We use winpe 3.1 and want to deploy Win7.I have added all the drivers from Lenovo sccm pachage. I have turned "only legacy" in the bios. I have added the USB3 Exstension driver to both the image and WinPE. I get to download the Winpe and start it up. It have an IP and shows activity untill it start Winpe and check connectivity. It show error, but simply just reboot. When i f8 and type ipconfig /all it shows nothing. Hello all, We've got the same problem here with our x1 Carbon 4th gen (20FB). Lucky, we just purchased 2 but not 2 dozen. Both of them have the same problem which same as Swhitcher. We've called the Lenovo support hotline and ask for the onsite support. The on-site engineer replaced the mother board for us, but after 1 hour, problem occur again. We're going to deploy those computers to the end user very soon.So please, give us the solution as soon as you can, Lenovo! Many Thanks! I recently got a X1 carbon 4th gen (20FB), and I have been super happy with its performance. However, it seems like whenever I have the laptop closed, the keyboard is leaving a mark on the screen. I sent it to repair, and they changed the screen, but that didn't seem to fix it. I noticed that the body and the lid are not perfectly aligned - one of the corners of the lid seems to be jutting out a little bit with respect to the rest of the body. I've attached picture to show this. I'm not sure if this is a part of the general design of the Carbon. Can anyone with a X1 carbon 4th gen confirm that this alignment feature is not present in their machine? Hi, We are having an issue with our X1 Carbon's(20FB). The audio output via an HDMI cable works, we see the Epson speakers in the playback devices. After the user is logged on for a while, the speakers will no longer showup in the playback devices and the auidio will just come through the laptops speakers. Hi, I've got an X1 Carbon 20FB (4th gen), and noticed it doesn't have Lenovo System Update on it, which I've found useful in the past. So I went to the Lenovo downloads site and found System Update, but it doesn't list the 20FB as one of the X1 Carbons it supports - it only goes up to 20BS, 20BT: http://support.lenovo.com/se/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-... (See the "Note for ThinkPad X1 Carbon users") Should I avoid downloading System Update then? I've not noticed anything that's not functioning, but I figured it makes sense to keep things up to date from a security and features point of view. Why is it not included by default? Thanks for any advice!https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/System-Update-on-X1-Carbon-20FB/td-p/3427436
Hi, does anyone know if there is a list of compatible embedded LTE chips that will work on a X1 Carbon 20FB? The reason why I ask this is bec the current model, EM7455, only operates at some frequencies that some abroad contries do not support and the older models such as the EM7355 support those frequencies. One being GSM. I tired to install a EM7355 into my 20FB laptop but the bios isn't allowing it. Thanks!
EM7455 is versatile enough and supports a lot of 4G/LTE including LTE-A and 3G bands worldwide. It does not support 2G (GPRS/EDGE) access technology.

Hi all, I have have new X1 Carbon and really like it. However I am getting regular BSOD failures once or twice per week. I am running Win7 Enterprise SP1 and have all the lastest Lenovo urgent updates installed and most of the recommended and optional updates installed too. The BSOD have been of the following types:KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e) on June 28thMEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a) on June 30thBAD_POOL_CALLER (c2) on July 6thMEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a) on July 7thDRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5) on July 21st At first I thought it was faulty RAM so I ran MemTest (http://hcidesign.com/memtest) for over night for two nights in a row and no issues were detected. Has anyone encouneted this issue and know how to fix it? Any recommnedations from Lenovo? If required I can attached detailed log dmps. Thanks,Ian
Look in the event log to see if a driver is throwing an error before the BSODshttps://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Frequent-BSOD-with-2016-X1-Carbon-20FB/td-p/3377470
I'm setting up a new X1 Carbon with machine type 20FB. It came with a Samsung MZNTY256HDHP SSD. I noted there was a recent SSD firmware update package for this laptop model, so I downloaded and ran the updater. It reported there were no updates. However, after digging a bit deeper, I discovered that the SSD firmware updater for the X1 Carbon 20A7/20A8/etc. DOES have an update for the SSD in this machine. What is going on here? Does this firmware update somehow only apply when the SSD is installed in a 20A7? Or did this particular model of SSD just get missed when Lenovo was putting together the firmware update package for the 20FB?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Missing-SSD-firmware-update-for-X1-Carbon-20FB/td-p/3485035

Hello, I have this problem for month now :I close my X1 Carbon lid before going to bed, and in the morning, when I resume it from hibernation, the trackapd and trackpoint are totally unresponsive. Everything else work fine, I just have to wait, sometimes 20/30sec, sometimes a whole minute, to have the trackpad working. This is very frustrating to have a computer resuming so fast from hibernation but being unable to use it. I have the latest BIOS (1.15), latest UltraNav driver (126.96.36.199).Tried several drivers uninstallation/reinstallation, several fresh windows install, problem is still present. Actually on a fresh install of Windows 10 64bit (Anniversary update).https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-2016-20FB-Ultranav-unresponsive-for-30sec-1Min-after/td-p/3386336
Hi, trying to get a Windows 7 Install done on a Carbon X1 2016 20FB w/ Samsung950 Pro. Bios 1.14 (latest as of May 2016)Special issue is, I need to get it done in a Legacy mode (BIOS,MFT style). I was able to install Win7 based on a win7 image that got the 950pro drivers and the USB3 drivers infused through NTLITE, and then I build an image with Rufus 2.9 (both UEFI/GPT and UEFI/MFT) worked, with the X1 BIOS was set up to UEFI only with CSM.BUT I need to to run on the BIOS setting 'Legacy' and in MFT style, b'cause the special Win7 installer I need to use does not support anything else. I know, sounds weird, but..... . So- is there a fundamental limitation against booting / installing a Win7 on a Carbon X1 2016 20FB - Samsung950 Pro in Legacy 7 MFT mode?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Carbon-X1-2016-20FB-Samsung950-Pro-Windows-7/td-p/3338627

Hi, the power options sets that the display should turn off in X minutes. But it doesn't do it at all. Instead, the computer is locked and the display dimms. I'm pretty sure that I have installed the latest monitor and graphic card driver. For testing it, I have also unplugged all USB devices. What can still be the reason? Hi all, I have the X1 Carbon 2016 (20FB) and it is running Windows 10 Enterprise. I have all the lastest Windows and Lenovo updates. It all works pretty well except when it comes to starting back from sleep mode. I have the laptop configured to go to sleep when I close the lid. However when I reopen the lid, the power button and keyboard lights come on but the display stays off. Opening and closing the several times doesn't help. The only way to get the display to turn on is to quickly press the power button. This puts the laptop to sleep. If I press the power button again the laptop comes back to life and the display works again. Anyone else have this issue? Any possible solutions? Thanks,Ianhttps://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-2016-20FB-display-doesn-t-work-after-opening-the-lid/td-p/3454282
Hi, I updated my X1 Carbon 4th gen to 1.17 BIOS, and since then, opening the lid won't wake the computer from hibernation, except when plugged.Bios changelog states Disabled the power button when the computer is in battery mode and the
computer lid is closedbut when I read "power button", I don't think "this is gonna break the behavior of the lid". And of course, no rollback is possible from 1.17, so I'm stuck with a computer wich won't wake from hibernation correctly. I just can advise you all to not upgrade bios, and see what's inside the next version...
Just got my brand new X1 Carbon (4gen 2016/20FB) with the 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD (THNSN5512GPU7). Was expecting a blazing fast disk, but it felt sluggish something that AS SSD Benchmark confirms (see attachment). According to the specs this drive should offer up to 2400 Mb/s read and 1500 Mb/s write. But I get 1800 MB/s read and abysmal 113 MB/s write. The machine has all the latest updates from Lenovo (incl BIOS) and all the drivers for Windows 10. Anyone else tested their drives? Found a Dell XPS owner with the same drive that complained about the same issue. Turning off windows write cache buffer flushing does help, but that is not a good answer.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post I am attempting to Wireless Deployment Model Network setup a new wireless network model in my home and am looking for some advice on the proper hardware I need I currently have a laptop which I use to connect wirelessly to my network I previously Wireless Network Deployment Model used a wired-router to connect directly to a cable modem and would then have all my network devices Storage media Wireless Network Deployment Model etc connected to the wired router I would use a Airport Express to create a wireless signal from this network and connect to my laptop Worked fine In my new home I d like to keep a router in my room which is not where my modem has been installed What I am looking to do is connect all the above hardware to a separate LAN I have been looking into using a wireless bridge access point for this In checking out these options I m a little confused Bridges and Access Point are expensive why are they so expensive when they do less than a router Also it is very important the access point can connect to the network wirelessly I do not want to run wires all over my home so would like a device that can join a wireless network and connect to my router I will buy a new router if I have to one with wireless support if it has a bridge repeater access point mode Is there a specific feature I should be looking for Today I cannot use the internet and access my personal network devices without changing my network connection from my laptop This is irritating as I can t do things such as backup or listen to music while surfing the net I am looking for a device that can bridge these networks wirelessly and am also looking for something extremely inexpensive Can I accomplish this Thanks again for your help James nbsp
Truthfully, I think a wireless bridge is a bad idea. If you try to do file sharing over a wireless link, you better have patience, because it'll be pretty slow! The best topology is to have all the wireless access points hard wired to the network.

I bought my X1 Carbon Touch 2014 brand new about 2 months ago.Today was a normal day, I set it to sleep before leaving work and came home. A few hours later, I pulled my laptop out and connected AC and pressed the power button. It woke up normally into the login screen so I swiped my finger to login and 1~2 seconds after, the screen suddenly turns funny and then shows black screen (I think it powred off or something at this point). And then it turns on (but not the screen) briefly for about 1 second and then turns off, turns on for 1 second and turns off, and repeat... I tried the reset button and it made it stop the loop. But then whenever I try to power it on it starts that loop again and I have to use the reset button to power it off (holding the power button will not stop the loop). Also, pressing the reset button does not stop the loop when the laptop is plugged into AC.. I have work tomorrow and this is my work laptop.... Any ideas of what's wrong??This is so disappointing. It will be a huge headache if I have to send this in to Depot as our company policy requires the SDD to be wiped before sending it in for repair. UPDATE:Seems like I'm doomed now. After leaving it for a while I powered it on and it powered up normally and went to boot screen. I chose to normally boot up window but then screen turned blank again... After that, trying to power it up will again enter that power on/off loop. So I reset it again and left it for a while. Then powered it on again and it shows the boot screen normally. I chose Safe Mode this time and it asked for the bit locker key because the system was not turned off normally. While I was looking for the key in my other computer, the screen suddenly turned funny again (lots of red dots and stuff). Keyboard was unresponsive and soon after it went into the power on/off loop again..https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-2014-Model-endless-bootloop/td-p/1554308
We're doing a quick POC for ATA The first stage - where a couple of DCs had the ATA Lightweight Gateway deployed - was promising and we'd like to extend the scope to further DCs However since some Deployment Issues of our DCs are running Windows Server R this presents a problem since NET Framework X requires a reboot To add to the problem the ATA client itself requires another reboot We also want Deployment Issues to avoid doing a manual install on each DC - which would mean automatic deployment maybe as simple as a GPO with the exe first packaged as a msi - an older thread about it here or invoking psexec with an include file to specify the list of remote machines Looking at the nbsp silent installation instructions nbsp the setup can pause automatically and not initiate the reboot of the machine - allowing a degree of control and preventing critical systems going down at an inappropriate time In the referenced article above it's stated that quot When using the -NoRestart flag and restart will be required as part of the installation the installer will pause until the server is restarted quot which hints that there's no way for avoiding the -restarts issue But just to be sure - has anyone found a workaround for deploying this in one go Eg deploy NET Framework followed immediately by the ATA client Also - I was just thinking above of some ways to deploy the client automatically but probably they might not be the best pick or someone went already through this process and could provide insightshttps://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/65ab48d3-fe93-48c5-b69c-b70fe8720aca/deployment-issues?forum=mata

I have added a new set of drivers (Latitude E5570) to the deployment workbench. After importing the drivers I ran the update deployment share.
However when I try to start the Deployment on a workstation (via USB flash drive) I'm receiving an error that states "A connection to the deployment share could not be made. Connection OK. Possible cause: invalid credentials.
If I image any other workstation that already have drivers (HP/Dell) in the deployment workbench, the image installs with no issues.
If I'm missing any details please let me know, and any help will be appreciated.
We are working to move our base OS to Windows 10. I am able to image a Optiplex 7010 with no issues but having issue with Latitude 7470s. I am able to PXE boot to the Task Sequence list. It kicks off fine, and the OS deploys without an issue. The issues starts after the first reboot, the task sequence starts up again but fails once a Task Sequence needs network access. We use Apply Driver Packages to deploy our drivers. I have tried the Dell Drivers CAB package, the Intel drivers package, no driver package, and deploying all drivers. Nothing has worked. I have manually installed the drivers from the Dell Support page after failure and they apply fine. I added those to the driver package but it still does not work. Hi TheRealGMC, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
Yes the 45W power adapter does not support RapidCharge. For that you need 65W. I'm looking forward to the 65W Micro power adapter being available.
You are right, it's WiGiG OR WWAN, not both. This is what we were told at CES, and there was no indication that would change.
The PSREF seems to imply that the HUAWEI is a Western Europe (WE) only option. The Sierra card supports the faster LTE-A standard.
Hope this helps!

Dear. X1 carbon users. I got a brand new X1 carbon 3rd gen and update to windows 10.But when I scroll up/down or move images, vertical lines are flickering all over the screen. Also, I can see these vertical lines flickering at the wall paper with gradations.I am not sure this is one of hardware problems because I update windows 10 righr after I got this.I updated recent intel graphics driver and all drivers using 'lenovo pc experience'.(Actually I tried to instal newest driver on intel website but failed because this is not a manufacturer's version.)Please let me know how I can fix this. Thank you.
Hello. I have the same problem. Do you have a solution? Or you keep the problem I downloaded from Intel the graphics card drivers and the same problem like you. Hello - nbsp I have a X Carbon with the ThinkPad USB dock nbsp Everything worked great under Windows nbsp I would occassionally have an issue with the dock not coming online after resuming Win but it was easy to fix by powering the dock on off or rebooting audio USB X1 dock ThinkPad issues 3.0 Carbon nbsp However since upgrading to Win I have a very frustrating audio issue nbsp Application seem to have trouble picking between the sound device inside the laptop and the dock nbsp For example I'll get an incoming call from Skype and it will start the call on the laptop internal speakers then say the Realtek audio device is unavailable nbsp If I call the person back it then completes the call and works fine through the dock audio device which is what it should have done the first time nbsp However the issue isn't only with Skype it's with all apps nbsp For example if I start Pandora in the Chrome browser it will start playing the audio through the laptop speakers for about second then stop nbsp I then have to refresh the web page a few times to get it to start playing out of the dock sound device nbsp All the while Windows is configured and properly reports the dock sound device as the default which X1 Carbon ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock audio issues is what I want nbsp I suspect this is an issue with the drivers for either the dock or the X not properly talking to Windows but both are up to date and either Lenovo or DisplayLink who makes the dock drivers have any noted issues with audio-switching nbsp Has anyone else experienced this issue nbsp It's very frustrating
I'm having the same exact issues !Have you find a solution yet ?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-ThinkPad-USB-3-0-dock-audio-issues/td-p/3297610

Hi Windows 8 helpers,
I have a HP Pavilion notebook, model: 15-B010TU.
About 2 years old, generally runs OK, but have recently been experiencing it freezing and sometimes slow to start up, it also has only had Avast Antivirus programme running in the background.
I also had the "please wait" page frozen on screen for about 12 hours before it thankfully sorted itself out.
Just wanting some advice on how to look after my notebook better? any system cleanouts I can run, system scans, virus (free) software I can use?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you
There can be a lot of different causes of lock ups/slow boots. It is hard to know exactly what is causing it without doing some elimination.
First I would run some optimizations if you havent already. First step I would take is to download CCleaner. Run that to clean out any junk files from your system. It might take a while if it has a lot to do, so be patient with it.
Second, run these commands in an elevated command prompt:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Wait for each command to finish processing before going onto the next. Each will take a while to complete so please give it enough time.
Third, I would run a disk defrag program to optimize the drive. Download Defraggler and give it time to run. If a defrag has never been done, this will take a good amount of time to run, probably on the order of 3-4 hours easily, if not more.
After all of that, I would check what is running at startup. To do this, I would use Autoruns and look under the logon tab. Uncheck whatever you dont need. If your not sure about something, best bet would be to leave it alone.
All of this should help at least a little bit. Try all of that and let us know what happens.

2 HP vs17
Bought a HP vs17 dual monitor in February, and another last week. It seems their fundamental colors are mismatched...
Nothing I try - manipulating the graphics card settings or monitor menus will match up the colors between monitors. I've been reading that if you do not buy the same model around the same time from the same batch it may not be possible to match. People have suggested looking at the serial numbers to see how close they were manufactured.
Is this the case?
You can load adjust the color balance in the setup screens of many LCD's, have you given that a shot? You can also load the LCD drivers that come with the screen...

We have been replacing workstations at our college with OptiPlex s We are running Windows Enterprise x We use SCCM to image and have the latest Deploy OptiPlex Windows Driver Pack loaded so the audio driver is current There have been many reports of students not getting audio from their headphones in the labs that have been with OptiPlex Headphone 5040 issues model upgraded to OptiPlex model When I would head over to a lab Headphone issues with OptiPlex 5040 model and test a few random PCs because the reports I was getting didn t include actual station designations they would all work fine I would plug in my mm plug earbuds and would get the audio popup asking what type of device I plugged in Headphones is the default and so I would click quot ok quot and a few seconds later the audio controls in the Windows taskbar would re-enable and sound would work fine through the headphones What I discovered was that if a student used USB headphones and then left the lab then another student comes in and plugs in mm headphones they will not work unless the run the quot troubleshoot sound problems quot option from the task tray Anyone else experience this issue Hopefully Dell is aware of this issue All of our previous OptiPlex models had two audio ports mic and headphone and never seemed to have this issue

I recently reformatted my computer's harddrive, and I've been working on getting everything back to it's normal working order. I'm having issues with my video card. It should be installed correctly, I haven't taken it out at all, and it worked a while before the reformat. I think I have the correct driver installed (This one).
But when I plug the monitor into the video card's plug, the monitor won't show anything, it's just blank with the little light, normally green, glowing orange. When I go to the System Information, the only video card that shows up is the one on the motherboard.
Am I using the correct driver? Any other possible solutions?
G'day Redalert95, I gather you have onboard video and that is working but your card is not. It is not a good idea to plug video leads if the machine is running, it could quite easily kill something.
It is possible that you may need to disable the onboard video in BIOS to allow the daughter card to operate.
This makes it odd that it may have changed from previous settings which were apparently working OK.
If this might be correct it may be pertinent to replace the battery at this time before going any further.
Your board manual BIOS settings should help determine what is happening. In some machines if you plug in a video card the onboard is automatically disabled, but your note does not infer this to be the case, therefore it seems you are going to have to carefully follow the BIOS set instructons in the manual. You likely have an onboard enable somewhere. The LED showing orange instead of green simply indicates no information is being received by the monitor.
You should not need any driver to be loaded to give your card operation for the monitor to operate in a basic mode.
The proper driver will only give the thing all the colours and abilities you are used to normally seeing.
Be extremely careful and ensure the power lead is removed anytime you plug items like cards, and ensure your follow antistatic rules.
hi i have a compaq sr1610nx http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/hp-compaq-presario-sr1610nx/4507-3118_7-31589100.html?tag=mncol;psum

after formating and the copy of files it does the requiered restart but the installation dont continue, the computer stays on the on the black screen that says "Press any key to boot from CD..."
hi and welcome to the forum
This is because you can upgrade but not downgrade on a harddrive.
Go here and get a utility to wipe the harddrive first of vista, then you will beable to install xp again.
These are the sites where you can update your drivers again after your xp install.
Hello everyone this is my first post I have looked everywhere and I can not come up with a solution for this issue So I decided to do a clean reinstall of windows because of previous sound card issues I bought a top of the line card hoping that it will fix my driver issues It was a sound blaster fatality pro series This did the exact same thing when I tried to update the drivers from some unknown issues So to me the reasonable solution was a clean xp Dell model? XPS horrible issues. reinstallation 2005 wipe This turns out to not be a good idea But I really had no choice seeing as the installations were so messed Dell XPS 2005 model? horrible xp reinstallation issues. up I did everything I could but with no avail Now here comes the real problem I put in the XP SP CD hoping that everything will be fine and it was everything worked like a charm but after the formatting the setup starts up again Now I get an error called a cyclic redundancy check error This causes the setup to restart and I have done everything and I am stuck in a fail cycle The CD is clean and I have no idea how to access the checkdisk feature when I have no operating system Please Help Me I am completely stuck
Hi hackroot and welcome to TSF
I would think you have a hardware issue. I'm not a Dell user, so I really don't know what a Dell model 2005 is. If it is a desktop, remove the side panel and blow out the dust and cobwebs using a can of compressed air. Clean the fan blades with alcohol and qtips. Be sure to blow out the heat sinks and also the powersupply. If you haven't been in a computer before, be SURE to touch the bare metal case before touching anything inside.
If my memory serves, a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) is when data is written somewhere (memory or harddisk) and read back. If it don't match, you get a CRC error. That said, reseat the cables to the harddrive, CD/DVD drives, and the motherboard. Do both the power and data cables. Also, reseat the memory sticks. If there are any jumpers on the back of the harddrive or CD/DVD drives, reseat them also. The reseating process is not just pushing in on the cables, but pulling them back some and sliding them back on. That action is needed to insure the pins and recepticles have good contact.
Try this and see if it helps

Having really bad resolution issues on Dell XPS 13.
I'm using it for University, and I'm doing a computer science course so the command line is an important feature. The text on it is completely zoomed out, I have went into the properties and maximized the font to no avail. Here's what it looks like, the image may not do it justice - I really have to squint to read it.
Most other programs are like this too. Unity 3D looks really blurry, Sublime Text 2 looks the same. Text looks like it has been zoomed in on a few times so it fits the resolution and as a result you can almost see the individual pixels on text.
Here's another program: Malwarebytes
This does feel like a bit of a joke considering the laptop is worth well over a thousand pounds.
Have you gone into the screen resolution control panel for your system and selected the option to "Make text and other items larger or smaller" ?
If not, right click anywhere on your desktop and select the option to change screen resolution. You should see that text size option near the bottom of the screen. Alternately, you can go into your control panel on your system and go into the "Appearance and Personalization" section.
TBH, I'm not sure that text control will work in the Command Prompt or not. I would think that it basically another Window that the OS can control the font size, etc., but I've never really tried it so I am not sure it will work. You may need to change the overall resolution of the monitor to get to an appropriate screen size.
Let me know if that text size adjustment helps or not. if not, I'll see if I can find something else that may help.
Suppose, while working, its doing fine.Suddenly the display light goes very very dim, almost dark but enough to see that its not completely turned off.Not like it went to sleep as the sounds(like,if i'm watching a movie)go on.Sometimes few more restarts randomly work. But,mostly within a few seconds of restart, the light goes deem again.Even when battery is fully charged(as it shows so),it happens.Tried checking the AC adapter both connected or disconnected, the same happens. Is there any loose connection. After a fresh install of Windows Professional N x on a new build of my PC at the beginning of this year the system was fine for a few months This problem then appeared but was cured by a fresh reinstall of Windows about a month ago However the same problem has since update requested restar following software Unexpected shutdown/restart reappeared and I do not want to go through the trouble of another reinstall particularly as the problem has now reoccurred and is therefore likely to occur again even after another fresh install So I would really like to get a solution to the root cause The unexpected shutdown restart occurs only after a software update that requires a restart I click the restart button that is presented Unexpected shutdown/restart following software update requested restar and then minutes after that restart logon the system suddenly and completely powers off with no warning whatsoever then reboots automatically to the Windows did not shut down properly screen Hitting enter starts the system normally and everything is then fine This problem occurs only and always after a software update that requests a restart and is after any software update that requires a restart it has happened with Windows updates and application software updates A manual restart using Start gt Restart is fine Indeed if I manually restart the machine immediately after the software update requested restart has completed then the unexpected shutdown restart does not occur CNG Key Isolation Service has entered the running state is always last entry in System log before the unexpected shutdown restart A Kernel-Power event ID appears in the System log after the unexpected shutdown restart The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first This error could be caused if the system stopped responding crashed or lost power unexpectedly All Windows updates drivers software firmware amp BIOS are up to date The system runs fine in all other respects I suspect that some update or maybe an application that I have installed along the way has introduced this problem but as not all updates or installations require a restart then it is not obvious which one caused it and when Whilst I am not getting a BSOD with this problem I have nonetheless attached the requested analysis files So does anyone have any ideas what may be going on here I have searched extensively for answers but have not found anything conclusive yet or anyone else that is having this particular problem Many thanks in anticipation of your suggestions

Hi,Brand: Dell Laptop Studio 1535 Model: PP33L start up issues. The laptop lights go on like it's going to start, then the PC shuts off.1. Checked the ram2. Checked the power cord and battery.3. Discharged the electricity from the PC holding down the the power button and doing that procedure. No Luck?
You have three options.
(1) Send the motherboard in to be repaired (poor choice) I have used this option several times. Fast fail again rate is very high. You can easily find people on ebay that fix boards.
(2) Get a new motherboard if you love the laptop and it is very good condition other wise
(3) Junk it and get a new laptop (best option)

Run Memtest from a cold boot.
Memtest - Instructions:
Download the ISO (or the .exe for USB drives) from here Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
Then (if you have chosen the ISO) burn the ISO using ImgBurn: The Official ImgBurn Website
Boot from the CD/USB and run the test (at least 7 passes)
If that passes then run Prime95: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95 - Windows 7 Forums (run the Blend test as well as the SmallFFTs test)

I have a nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro pci bus videocard.
The other day I bought the follow up of MOH (sorry forgot the name because returning it to the store)but ofcource you already see the problem rightaway:error log file of the game told me the card was missing out on some functions. Can this card be updated so "heavy duty games won't be a problem in the future?(il2/fb-wolvenstein-cfs2 run good though!)
Thanx for listening!
Well...you can get the latest drivers for the card, but it won't help that much, because it's a TNT2...and PCI....
If you wanted to play newer games, you'd have to get a new video card....but if you're running a PCI video card right now, then it may not be worth it...check if you have an AGP slot, is should be above the PCI slots on the motherboard, and slightly offset from them...if you have an AGP slot, then that's good, because you could get a good video card...but if you don't, you'll probably be better off getting a whole new system rather than just upgrading the video.
i broke my dell xps 12 model 9Q23 lcd screen and i've been searching high and low for a replacement screen but to no avail. I have however found a replacement lcd screen for dell xps model 9Q33, from a quick google search, they both look similar to one another but with different specs.
So i was wondering if i purchased replacement lcd screen for model 9Q33, would it work on model 9Q23?
According to parts-people.com, the LCDs for one don't work with the other despite the similarity in design of the two systems.
There are some places showing screens for the earlier 9Q23 in stock.
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro PROBLEM..
i saw something about this in another thread but can't find it
anyway my 32mg card only shows 16mg
the other thread listed a driver that worked for one member and i have the same driver...doesn't seem to work for me
is there a dialog or setting...?
I have the Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 / Model 64 pro video card and i want to install a game but the video card has to be in 256 color mode and in Windows i can only go to 32 bit what can i do? Any comments or posts would be great! Thank YOU!
Just to be clear, 32-bit is actually 16,777,216 colors, so its much more then 256 which is just 256 colors. So for 256 you need to lower the color depth not increase it.

This scanner ran with Pagis 3.0 without any problems at one time. Since my system crashed and HDD was repartitioned and formatted, i can't boot up with scanner on. The driver that came with cd works for a while but it will hang up when i reboot. I tried the newest driver for scanner which does not work at all.
There are no conflicts in device manager and it does recognized scanner by name and model when using driver version " MiraScan V3.20". Anyone have any ideas how to deal with this problem.

HiI own a X1 Carbon Gen 2 thinkpad and wonder if it is possible to replace the current keyboard with a X1 Carbon gen 3 keyboard (with proper mouse buttons), or if it will not fit?I have tried to check the manuals and the connectors seems similar although some things, such as the fingerprint reader, seems different. I have no problem "loosing" the adaptive keyboard and fingerprint reader if I can have all the functionality of the keyboard and trackpoint on the new "keyboard" (i.e. the gen 3 frontpanel).
I am interested in this exact topic as well. Looks like the Gen 3 keyboards lack the adaptive keyboard - that clear stripe on the top that changes. The FRU for these X1 Carbons seem to be the whole keyboard, adaptive part, trackpad and bezel - they go for 150 USD or so. Problem is we don't know if it will work given the model year differences. A nice alternative would be just to replace the trackpoint. They came close with this one, but it is no macbook in terms of tactile feel of the pad. I really am having a hard time with it and it's been about a month. Lenovo please help!https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-Gen-3-Keyboard-on-X1-Carbon-Gen-2/td-p/1939212
I want to download a Users Guide and check for newer drivers for this laptop, but the model number area is worn off on the bottom. I can see the Service Tag number, but there doesn't seem to be anyway to use it to find my model number.
Hi, Shut down the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as soon as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu, then select f10 to enter the Bios Menu. The first tab should list both the Model No. and Product No. - enter either on the link below. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/ Regards, DP-Khttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Model-Number-Worn-Off-How-Do-I-Find-Model-Number/td-p/5801708
(do any of you have any experience using group policy to deploy service packs? i would like to automatically push out sp 4. i am currently using the microsoft software update services to automatically push out the critical updates. i actually ran into a problem with that as well. if i edit the default domain policy, my updates are pushed out. if i try to only apply it to a given ou, the updates are not pushed out. has anyone had this problem?
i ran across this link:

i don't have a test environment as such to test this first so i would like some feedback before i go forward with this.

i'm looking to find out the best tool to use in order to automatically deploy windwows xp / 7 onto our Dell based workstations
also looking for appropriate software for application deployment and patch management to these PC's
can you help with any recommendations?
You need to create a WSUS serverhttp://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/pc-deployment-569970.html
Just want to know what solution do you guys use to install Win XP pro corp over 90 computers. All computers are identical and I can network them using a switch or router with a centralized server. I was thinking doing a LAN boot and then from there each PC would install XP from the server. What do you have to say?
Just a quick question. Is there anyway I can specify a serial number when deploying a package via GPO? Its getting a bit tedious deploying the software then having to input the serial number 60 times :S
Use a program like nLite to create an installation package to which you can incorporate the Serial Number and any number of tweaks. This works pretty much the same way as a Sysprep install.
I downloaded PowerPivot for Office 2010 and installed it manually to one computer with no problems. Now I try to deploy this MSI package to few similar workstations with GP but this fails. I can see from logs that installation has started but failed. I suspect
that this has something to do with UAC on Windows7 clients.
I can start the MSI manually with command prompt from same network location that my GPO starts it but the UAC prompts me to accept changes rightaway. So is the a option to disable or say yes to user prompt automatically?? Thanks!
You can try to disable UAC on Windows 7:
1. Access User Control Panel from Start Menu -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Account
2. Click on
User Account Control settings link.
3. Move the Slider to Never Notify
4. Click OK to make the change effective
Hope that helps.

VB6 - Does anybody have any suggestions on how to deploy a vb6 application to a computer using Windows 7 or 8. I have vb6 running on my win7 computer but I would like to be able to deploy my application on a client's win 7 machine. This application has been running successfully on the client's Win XP machine for years. The client wants to buy a new computer which will probably have Win 8. Can the Package and Deployment Wizard that comes with VB6 be used? I do have a copy of VB10. Can this help me deploy a vb6 program?
Hi All, new to the forum,
Has anyone had any joy using the DISM image deployment tool,
below is the message i get trying to capture an image
DISM doesn't recognise the command-line option "d:\thinimage.wim"
I've tried the below.
dism /capture-image /capturedir:f:\ /imagefile "d:\thinimage.wim" /name:"MyCompany"
I've checked this over and over and i'm defiantly following the line they require.... any ideas? Thanks.
I know nothing about DISM, so please check what I say first...
...but looking at the format of the command line, I wonder if there should be a colon after /imagefile?
dism /capture-image /capturedir:f:\ /imagefile "d:\thinimage.wim" /name:"MyCompany"
dism /capture-image /capturedir:f:\ /imagefile:"d:\thinimage.wim" /name:"MyCompany"
Here is our situation.
We have a little over 100 users all of whom have a corporate signature. However these signatures are images so each individual user has a different image containing their name and contact details. Is there any way that we can deploy all of these signatures to the relevant users automatically rather than having to go round and install them on each individual PC.
We use Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory, but if there are any other tools that can help us do this then any information would be much appreciated.
It would be hard to deploy the image to every user in that manner since the file names would be different. I am sure you could use some sort of environment variable to grab it from their user profile or some other shared location and integrate it into the script found here:
Any thoughts on the best and/or simplest way to deploy applications to workstations which are not members of our Domain? What apps are available that will allow me to, for example, create an installation package for an appilication complete with all the configuration options I'd like and then place that package somewhere on a server or even burn it on a CD so that launching the package would be the only task required to install/configure the app. Also, what's available that would allow me to remotely place the install package (or any file for that matter) on the desktop (or start menu)of a large number of non-domain workstations based on the IP address of the workstation. Thanks for any pointers...
I do tech support and training for a software company, our application runs through Mozilla firefox.
The problem with this is that there are often more than 20 users that i need to install Firefox and acrobat reader on.
Is there a way that i run one program that can run through the installation of both firefox and acrobat in one.
Thanks for taking time to read this

Finalizing XP deployment I am looking to simplifying the deployment of my company XP deployment Finalizing s standard build Iv tested a few different methods and found one that is close to working perfectly So far I have been able to build a WinPE CD boot into it then apply an image that I have Finalizing XP deployment stored Finalizing XP deployment on another local drive This works with the only problem being two different media Iv been trying to add the Finalizing XP deployment standard image to the WinPE CD but that makes the CD over GB - so needing a DVD Iv added the file during the WinPE CD build but the software cant handle a CD being over MB Iv used ImgBurn to add the image to the ISO of WinPE This will burn eventually but when booting I get 'CDBOOT Cannot boot from CD Code ' When I try burn the complete ISO under Nero it runs to part way through then stays at that percentage forever Different values each time left over the weekend and still no change or error Iv played about with a couple different boot files - Neros standard ones microsoft corparation img ImgBurn standards and the original boot file from the WinPE CD None have been able to complete the boot - different problems each time - each message just telling me that it cant boot not much of a reason Can anyone help with their experience or give advice for a better deployment methodhttp://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/finalizing-xp-deployment-347079.html
A couple years ago, I began a help desk job where no imaging was being used. Someone had been manually setting up as many as 20 machines a month. I quickly figured out some half-assed ways to image which I don't think will work in Windows 7 so I was coming to ask to be pointed in the right direction.
-Setup a machine the way I want
-Take Image with Acronis off of a BartPE disc
-Run NewSID before joining to the domain
-Join to domain and setup user account
I read that NewSID was nothing more than a tool for breaking things Vista and later. Is sysprep where I need to be headed or is that for people not using an imaging tool?
I'm always looking for help and great forums - I hope to find both here!
You might have a look at something like this:
Paragon Paragon Adaptive Imaging Tools - Overview
Paragon Adaptive Imaging Tools
Get essential system tools for free!
The software installation process isn’t as trivial as it seems, especially when performed on multiple machines at a time, from operating system installation to client software configuration. The process to set up a new system can take a long time to complete - time which could be spent on your business or other more important tasks. Paragon's Adaptive Imaging Tools can help you prepare a universal image for further deployment on new machines and best of all is totally free.
I was wondering if there was a way of doing a Windows Xp installation over the Network without using a enterprise solution like Windows server 03/08.
I was thinking maybe there is 3rd party software that can emulate this feature of windows server?
OK, so I have been doing XP the easy way and now I have to deploy Win7 the Microsoft way. They give you all sorts of tools to use but no direction on how to use them. Does anyone have a link to senisble instructions on this process? How to create the image (I can do that I think), how to get it to the server and how to image multiple PC's.
Microsoft has quite a few articles including step by step instructions on Windows 7 deployment at TechNet that you may find helpful: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...8WS.10%29.aspxhttp://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/vista-deployment-408209.html

I wonder if you can help me with deploying Windows 10, I have a few questions;
Can I deploy W10 like I currently do via WDS 2008?
What software can I use to create a customized W10 DVD that allows me to alter/disable some of the standard initial setup questions?
We pay for an OVS agreement, should I be able to get a copy of Windows 10 from the VLSC? I cant seem to find a Windows 10 ISO, just 7 & 8?
Further questions may come aling, just trying to get a grasp of it all.
