MIDI Keyboard - Connecting Casio Keyboard to Lenovo Z51 Laptop

Q: MIDI Keyboard - Connecting Casio Keyboard to Lenovo Z51 Laptop

Hey guys!

I recently got a Casio keyboard, with a new MIDI cable.

I'm a music artist and I'm totally new with this 'keyboard-to-computer-via-MIDI' stuff.

I don't know how to connect my Casio Keyboard to my computer with a MIDI cable. I've mostly been using Mixcraft's music library, but I want to start something new with my new keyboard.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how I can connect my keyboard to my laptop via MIDI?

I've looked at other forum posts and contacted a few music artists..........they had nothing.

Please help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi forum,
I don't know where to ask this type of question as i am new to this forum. But urgently needed help to connect my CASIO MA-150 keyboard to my Windows PC via inexpensive USB-MIDI Cable.
I've successfully connected it via cable but i didn't get any input in my FL Studio via my keyboard. No response anymore. Don't know what's the problem. When i connect this cable, windows install basic drivers for that but perhaps there is a problem with driver OR cable OR keyboard. Bit confused..

Let me know what's i'm doing wrong OR what i have to do to successfully get MIDI input to my FL studio as MIDI output from my CASIO MA-150 keyboard.

These are images of my MIDI-USB cable purchased from Snapdeal:

Thanks in advance.
Please help !

Hi and welcome to 7F. When you start FL you need to choose the correct sound input. I haven't used it for ages so can't remember exactly where it is but I'm sure it's there somewhere and I'm sure one of the sound gurus here will be able to point you in the right direction

My son has been using a Casio keyboard along with the Finale music composition software with Windows XP. We have switched to Windows 7 (64 bit) and have a compatibility problem-- Casio says that none of their products support 64 bit. However, we have seen a Casio keyboard at Costco that says on the box that it supports Windows 7 64 bit. What we would really like is a 64 bit MIDI driver that would permit us to use the existing keyboard with Windows 7. Any suggestions?

I was wondering if anyone knows what virtual midi controller works with win7 x64 in order to turn my pc keyboard into a virtual midi keyboard to use with Reason 5.

I can't afford an actual midi keyboard at the moment.

Any suggestions or tutorials would be great.

I've searched google and youtube but mainly only found things that worked with xp and I don't want to screw anything up.

Thx in advance

Hi there. I'm experiencing problems with a Lenovo Laptop. I cannot log into Windows because the keyboard is not functioning as normal. The 'H' button is operating as a backspace for example and because I cannot see what I'm typing in the password bar, I don't know which keys are what. Only some keys produce characters and when typing other keys the system just beeps. I had this problem yesterday and I fixed it by holding the FN button and F4 or F7, I think it was F7 but now the same combination isn't working. If you could help me it'd be great. Cheers.

A:Lenovo Laptop Keyboard Not Working

If water was spilled on or in the keyboard theres not much that can be fixed on it. it will have to be replaced and checked out to make sure nothing else got damaged by the water such as the motherboard etc.

So I've been asked to give my Mom a hand with her laptop It's a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga though the website seems to drop or parenthesize the IdeaPad part of that running a bit version of Windows Two keys aren't working the F increase screen brightness key and the PrintScreen key This is why we just discovered it no idea when the error cropped up I've found workarounds for all of the things the keys do - brightness can be adjusted in Power Options and the F and PrintScreen functions can both be duplicated using the on screen keyboard function But they're kinda annoying and cumbersome and the error may be symptomatic of a larger problem I've tried rebooting the computer on - Lenovo Keyboard keys Dead laptop and cleaning the keyboard thus far to no avail though it is using one of these stupid new chiclet keyboard styles which makes popping off keys and cleaning the actually functional part of the keyboard impossible through the normal convenient method I've used in the past The keyboard was replaced relatively recently and I will be getting in touch with the gentleman who handled that when his store is open tomorrow I'll also be checking with the official tech support people at Lenovo but I find this and other fora are usually much better at cutting through that ploddingly systematic approach that big Dead keys on Keyboard - Lenovo laptop tech support divisions use and finding the real problem in a reasonable timeframe If either of these resources pays off I'll post the solution here as well Thanks for your time

Hi! I bought this one 2  days ago and I'm amazed how bad the keyboard is. Just check the video: keyboard actually doesn't match the photos: enter key is weird form and there are two \ keys. Space key sticks depending on which part of it you click. It also makes a weird noise. Definitely not the quality you expect from a premium model. I would actually be happy to return it, but I'm in another country for a while so looks like I'm in trouble. This is the second Yoga I have, but seems that I will never buy a Lenovo again.

A:Lenovo Yoga 710 - the worse laptop keyboard ever

Yeah, you see a lot of complaings about those keyboards, they are trying to make them too thin in you ask me. I would return it if you do not like it, even if you have to pay shipping.   The Thinkpad line have much better keyboards, and in my opionion are far more durable too.  Good Luck,

So I finally am settling on a resolution for this problem I've been having with midi not working. So, I found out that my digital piano, a Casio Privia PX-120, has it's own driver, but the driver is only for 32 bit computers. My computer is a 64 bit. Casio does not have the 64 bit driver yet. So I need an alternative driver for my digital piano. BUT, the midi interface (USB-MIDI cable) I'm using has to be able to go with it also. I'm using a Yamaha USB-MIDI Interface UX-16.

So I need a driver for my digital piano that will be compatible with my Yamaha USB-MIDI Interface UX-16 cable. Thank you!

A:Casio Privia PX-120 needs driver to go with Yamaha USB-MIDI UX-16

Welcome to SevenForums

Since you have a 64bit system and Yamaha doesn't have a driver for it, one of the things you can try.

Go to device manager>click on the device>properties>details tab>drop down menu>hardware id.

Copy and paste the hardware id string into your browser and search fo a compatible driver that way.

Or post a snip of it on here and we can look.

You can also search the Microsoft catalog for one, but I'm thinking your going to have trouble with this one.

This problem started or severed from the time I updated all drivers of the computer (using Driver Booster 3.5).

To reactivate my keyboard/touchpad again I have to hibernate the reopen the computer.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Using the part number for your keyboard on your search would allow you to find compatible and available keyboard in your location faster . You may use the parts lookup page to get it (just keep your serial number confidential) that would show your Machine model number and likewise FRU part number for your keyboard.
You can try it match it from the FRU keyboard part number list from the hardware manual (page100-103).
Update us with the Machine model number if needed .
Hope this help answer your query.

A:Solved: Connecting laptop to external monitors/keyboard

Take a look at Lenovo's USB 3.0 docks here, type your model in to get the recommended ones:
One USB cable will connect everything back to the Yoga.

The converting to Bluetooth makes no sense, you're just adding more devices and hassle. A simple USB hub would be better if you didn't go for a full dock. Connect the wired mouse and keyboard to the USB dock or buy a new Bluetooth keyboard/mouse.

Once you undock the Yoga's screen should kick back in and work at it's supported resolution.

I wanted to connect a Steinberg CLEAN recording interface to the joystick port, but found out that the SB-card does not supply the power needed to feed that interface.
Must indeed be an SB-problem. We don't have a joystick, so I dont know either if that would work.

I was going to build a new PC anyway, so I bought a mobo with built-in sound (C-Media) and that works fine.

I Have a Casio MIDI keyboard that I want to connect to my PC. I have turned the keyboard's local settings off so it should go through the computer and connected up to the computer via a MIDI cable to the Game/MIDI port on the back of the pC. hi guys,

I have run into the biggest mystery ever:

I recently purchased a 25 key midi keyboard (fame digital kc25 !drive free!)and connected it via usb. the computer (xp sp3, on board asus scard p5gd2 mboard) recognizes it without problems, every time i switch it on/off the characteristic xp sound plays. In system->device manager->sounds audio devices it displays as usb sound device[(Location 0 (WORLDE CONTROLLER)] working properly. in propelheads reason 4.0 it isn't recognized on my pc. I tried a friend's vista home pc, installed my copy of reason4, plugged the device in, manually added it into reason and voila, it worked fine.
reinstalling the copy of reason on my machine had no effect and i've basically run out of ideas.... please guys, help meeeeeee!

A:midi keyboard wmd-->FAILURE

From past experience, music software often seems to have configuration issues. Start with the basics. Uninstall the app. Ensure your system/motherboard drivers are up to date. Then ensure you have the latest audio drivers. Reinstall the software and install any available updates.

Aside from that, contact the manufacturer. It is likely a conflict with audio card/drivers or a bug in the software.

A:MIDI keyboard problem

update: It says this on some FAQ page:

Q: I am having a problem with MIDI sound and I have AC97 onboard sound.

A: The VIA WDM driver does not support playing MIDI files. The midi file is translated by Microsoft's SWMIDI driver. SWMIDI.SYS passes midi files to PCM data and then send it to portcls.sys for playing. So this is not a VIA WDM driver issue. People with MIDI file issues should contact Microsoft for advice.
Wow, if it can't even play MIDI files, what chances are there that it could detect a keyboard in the gameport. The information coming in is MIDI after all... or does it have any effect? I don't know, I'm a super-noob...

I am considering getting rid of my CME-UF5 Midi keyboard since there is no possibility of running it under Windows 7 and purchasing something new.

Anybody have any suggestions as to what I should be looking at? Besides this make, and M-Audio I really don't know what my other options really are. Although I did like the quality and weight of the keys with CME vs M-Audio, I suspect M-Audio would have much better driver support and customer support for future updates, CME was certainly lacking in this department considering they didn't even provide a Vista driver for this damn thing. I browsed through forums and it seems that someone had created their own Vista driver for it by modyfing the XP one while others claimed that due to the hardware inside this keyboard, there would be no way to run it outside of an 32bit XP environment.

Why would you think this? MIDI is MIDI and the model keyboard you have is irrelevant. It's all about the MIDI interface you have. If you are using an old interface through a game port you just need to upgrade to a USB port interface or purchase a card that has MIDI ports built in like some of the M-Audio cards do. If you buy a new keyboard and use the interface that doesn't work with Win7 you'll be wasting money.

I've got a Casio LK-44 keyboard, which I've hooked up with MIDI cables to my Extigy sound card, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to record music from the keyboard onto the computer (Win XP SP2). I'm trying to use Cool Edit 2000 to record, but nothing's happening. I thought that I would need to change the Device on the options menu, but the only options under Waveform Record are Creative SB Extigy and Wave Mapper, and neither of those are working for me.

Any suggestions?

A:Recording from a MIDI Keyboard onto a PC

I haven't used cool edit recently, but last time I did it was only a audio editor, not midi. To record midi from your keyboard you will need a midi sequencer. Personally I use cubase, but if you search there should be some freeware sequencers available.

I have a Roland PC-200 mkII midi controller connected to the PC via a MIDI to USB converter. The system claims to recognise it, and sets up a USB2.0-MIDI device with two hardware items: USB Composite Device and USB2.0-MIDI (sound, video and game controllers).

The keyboard is recognised - and sends MIDI signals. However, it will only send one at a time now, meaning it will only play single notes rather than chords. This is independent of whatever programme runs with it, indicating that it's a problem between the keyboard and Win7. The keyboard worked properly on Vista32 and previously on XP.

My mobo will not accept a direct MIDI (game port) connection, so I have no choice but to use the converter.

Am I missing any settings in Win7?

A:USB-MIDI keyboard controller

i hear what you're saying. i own two controller keyboards with a usb interface, as well as a digital piano with midi in/out.... yep, winxp worked great when i plugged in either my EST (or is it ESI? their logo is hard to read) 49 key controller, or my M-Audio 49 key controller. I can't vouch for vista - installed it once. hated it.

When I first started using windows 7 I thought wow, this new OS is great! much faster than vista, more intuitive blah blah, then i loaded up all my music software, vsti plugins etc, and the final bit - plugging in the m-audio usb keyboard. "searching for hardware" - at this point i thought oh-oh as i remember on xp it instantly recognised it. so i waited, thinking ok its a different OS, maybe it needs to dig deeper to find driver, then i was faced with the devastating news that the device was not functioning, let alone being recognised. FORTUNATELY however, i bought a piece of sh*t USB to MIDI IN/OUT dongle from ebay. it was very cheap, the wiring is way too thin but hey it did the job for my digital piano when i needed to, so NOW, regardless of which USB keyboard I use under Win7, I must use this gay dongle. As for your issue - the mono polyphony - weird. My advice? Hit ebay. Buy another one from hong kong, just not the one you got originally. If you want, I am happy to provide a photo of the one i have - which works wonderfully and yes, it has full polyphone (ie i can play chords).... sometimes its not worth the headaches of waiting for forum replies of people stating obvious answers and things you already knew or tried, so i suggest you get a new dongle my friend.

this may be an obvious question but did you try different USB ports? Did it say "your USB device can operate faster"? - if its recognising it as USB1.1 that might be the problem. Otherwise, I'm out of suggestions...

Oh, and I am using Windows Ultimate 32bit on both a laptop and desktop, and both work with this dongle.

you'd like the dongle! it looks pretty when youre playing cos it has 3 lights, power on, midi in and midi out LED's

hope this helps u dude!

PS: Microsoft: Please fix this. You're already losing the music market to Mac enthusiasts, can't you get this right? Get a calculator and work out how many musicians will migrate from XP (or vista) to Win 7 and be pissed off then think fvck this im switching to mac?

Hey guys,
I am running Win 2000, and just bought a MIDI Keyboard to control a music program. The keyboard hooks up USB. On install, it is installing and reconizing the piece as a USB device. However, in order for it to work properly, it is supposed to also reconize it as a MIDI/Sound device in the Device Manager. It's not doing that. In previous Win 9X, it would let you first search for hardware, and then if it didn't find it, it would let you find it manually. But in Win 2K it dosn't do that. Is there a way I can install this keyboard to have it reconize it as a MIDI device?

I have ran through the install instructions many times, and nothing's working.

Any ideas????

Thanks in advance.

I have a home studio, using Sonar X3 (and ProTools).

When you reinstalled the MIDI driver, did you uninstall the old driver and restart the PC BEFORE reinstalling? If not give that a shot.

Another thing to try, connect the keyboard, go to the Device Manager and the device (with the error code). RIGHT click on the entry for the Device and then LEFT click "Uninstall". Disconnect the keyboard from the PC and then Restart the PC. After Windows starts, connect it and Windows should detect it and reinstall it as a "new" device.

Hello again I have a Yamaha YPT- model keyboard that I am attempting to hook up to my Windows Home Premium bit machine via a MIDI-to-USB cable The cable came with this eMedia USB MIDI Keyboard Interface Kit The drivers for the USB MIDI cable installed without issue but my system does not appear to recognize the Yamaha keyboard I attempted to install the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver but it raises an error quot Error No device is connected Connect a Issue MIDI Keyboard Yamaha device and Yamaha MIDI Keyboard Issue try again quot The MIDI USB cable has two lights that blink when everything's working properly one of the lights is blinking the other is not The light that isn't blinking appears to be related to the plug for the MIDI IN jack on the keyboard if that helps Some of the simpler stuff I've got the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT cables plugged into the right jacks on the keyboard i e the MIDI IN plug goes to MIDI OUT jack and vice versa -- it makes sense when you think about it The cables are not loose I've googled all around for an answer but I've found nothing but dozens of topics with no solutions or topics addressing something else altogether And yes I have tried turning it off and on again This may not even be a Windows issue specifically but poking around Windows a bit I can't even seem to find the controls for MIDI volume that always used to be available in WinXP I even tried this MIDI Tool meant for Windows Vista But nothing seems to help Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing EDIT After some toying around with settings I was able to get the eMedia software to recognize the keyboard for both inputs and outputs It can detect which keys are being pressed on the computer and it can send its own lessons etc to the keyboard However I still cannot install the Yamaha drivers or use Yamaha's Musicsoft program see 'Support' section to upload custom MIDIs to the keyboard to play So it would appear that this problem pertains specifically to Yamaha's programs etc if that helps any EDIT-EDIT Well I've apparently solved the problems I was having I still haven't been able to install the Yamaha driver but their Musicsoft program is working Should anyone find this thread in search of an answer I'm not sure if I can give you one But as best as I can tell the only real reason I was having trouble was that I was doing things out of order To use the Musicsoft program Turn off and unplug the keyboard Open Musicsoft Plug in keyboard while still turned off And then power on the keyboard and enter PC mode The connection would fail if I did this in any other order but the above While it's still not working quite the way I would've hoped it seems that any issues I had regarding hardware and or software for this thing are taken care of Thanks CxG

A:Yamaha MIDI Keyboard Issue

Hi, I have the same issue you described.
Can you tell me if your procedure, beyond allowing to use the Musicsoft Downloader, enables also the general midiin/out capabilities (for instance, can I use my keyboard with a software such as Cubase as an input?).

Thanks in advance for your answer.

PS: when you say "plug" or "unplug" the keyboard, you are referring to the midi cables, aren't you?

A Yahama YDP-223 piano is connected to a Lenovo computer on Windows 10 with a Yamaha MIDI-USB cable. In the "Red Dot Forever" program, I can record MIDI piano to the computer and play it back as long as I am in the program. If I try to play back any recorded MIDI files, they only play on Windows Media and not on the keyboard. How can I direct MIDI playback to the piano?

I just bought an Impact iX61 USB MIDI Keyboard. Connecting it to my Win7 64-bit PC, it get recognized and is visible in "Devices and Printers" panel inside the unspecified group. No driver installation needed.
No midi applications (Cubase, EZ Drummer) see it.
In this PC is installed an old EWS88MT PCI audio card, that has 1 MIDI-IN and 1 MIDI-OUT port and these ports are accessible to the applications.

The keyboard works: connecting it to a win7 64-bit installed inside VirtualBox (Linux host) it gets recognized as before inside "Devices and Printers" panel al midi applications are able to use it. But I need on the PC, obviously.

Could you give me some suggestions to get my keyboard working?

Thanks a lot!

I bought a M-Audio Keystation 49e today, because it seemed to be a very good MIDI keyboard, and because of it using USB instead of the old Gameport, it should be a lot easier to install.
Or so I thought. I managed to install it on my Windows XP machine, which wasn't hard at all, since WinXP detects the keyboard on it's own. It doesn't need 3rd party drivers.
I just couldn't get it to work with my MIDI programs. Not with Modplug Tracker, not with Anvil Studio, not with Cakewalk Sonar and not even with the included copy of Live Lite 4. None of those programs detected the keyboard.
I tried installing some XP drivers found on M-Audio's website, but those didn't work, and neither did that midifix of theirs.
Can anyone help me with the installation of my midi keyboard? I'd be very pleased... Thanks in advance.

Hi all. I have already posted this once here. The topic had quite a few views and not a single reply. I'm giving this another try, as the problem persists and is not getting any better.

The keyboard on my Aurora m9700 is having some strange issues. I cannot figure if it is software or hardware related, either. At random intervals, the keyboard will cease function. But when I go into standby, then come out of standby the problem seems to be magically fixed! In fact, the problem just happened right after I finished typing the last sentence. I checked event manager, nothing changed. I had to go into standby and come out of it...

So please, is there anyone on here that can help me out? I have reformatted the computer since this started happening and nothing has changed, so I do not know what could possibly be causing this!

Hi I've just switched to win7 from xp, and i used my yamaha CS2X keyboard hooked up over midi joystick port on my Audigy LS to control and play music in Reason 4.0 and it worked great in XP. Now in win 7 i cant even select the midi in port i want to use, so i was wondering how would i get midi to work in reason with my keyboard?

A:hooking up midi keyboard over jostick port in windows 7

I had to use Daniel_K's driver pack (There are links on these forums) to get my Audigy 2 ZS working in win 7 64bit and it now works a treat. Infact when i first put the Audigy in Windows installed it's own basic driver for the midi port and WDM drivers for the card. I just prefered having some proper drivers running.

In the process of trying to find the solution i was told many times that Microsoft had stopped support for the old midi interface once Vista was released but i refuse to believe that seeing has i have mine working.

Oh i also run a XFi Xtreme Music card as my main output device

Hi, I do a lot of typing at night time and the click of my keyoard's keys can be quite noticeable when there is pure silence. I have a Logitech K520 which isn't so loud but I would really love a keyboard that has the same type of keys as my Samsung laptop which are practically silent. Most laptops I've tried have similar keyboards in that the key doesn't travel far at all and there is no 'clicky' sounds either.

I have no idea what I would search for as I don't know what the style of keyboard is called. There are various names on the market, 'soft touch', 'quiet touch', 'low profile' etc etc but nothing that specifically identifies a laptop style.

I would just like a wireless laptop keyboard basically, even if it's the same size as a laptop keyboard but preferrably full sized.

Thanks very much for any advice

A:laptop keyboard does not work but works fine with usb keyboard

The fact that a USB keyboard works fine when your built in one doesn't, proves that it is the keyboard itself (or connectors) that is damaged/defective, otherwise, if it were a software problem, the external keyboard would do the same.

If you are just interested in recovering your data to save elsewhere you could purchase an external enclosure for about $8.00 at Newegg, remove the HDD from the laptop and install it in the external enclosure.  You can then attach it to another computer via a USB cable (which comes with the enclosure) and access your data to recover what you want.

Hi, I have an old Time laptop (so getting any drivers/chipsets will be a pain) that I'm using as a Home Theatre PC under my TV. Anyone have any idea what would cause this? Please help me guys, I use this machine every day and really need it to work  .

This is my first post here so please be kind!

The keyboard of my Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop has developed a fault. It uses XP Pro

A few keys have started to map to the wrong letters

't' is displayed as 'tb'
'y' as 'yn'
'b' as 'tb' and
'n' as 'yn'

This is both in lower and upper case and affects all software including at the Dos prompt. All the other letters are OK

'Backspace' deletes 1 character but leaves the cursor in its original position
'Space' does nothing at all unless it is held down and then I get repeated spaces with no carriage return! This is also the same effect when holding down the Backspace.

Any ideas on what is wrong and how I can get back to the original correct mappings?

So this computer is less then a year old, bought it in august 2014.The A key fell off while I was using the computer. I was not able to reattach the key. After talking to the support at the store where I bought it, they said to send it in for repair. I did and now Medion who handle the repairs for Lenovo want me to pay for a new keyboard and labor.I have photographic evidence of the state of the computer before I send it in. Not a scratch on it. Does Lenovo not have warranty on laptop keyboards?  Is there any written document with information on how long the estimated life span of a Lenovo keyboard is? What parts of the laptop are under warranty? Thanks.

A:Lenovo Y50-70 keyboard warranty

You can read through the warranty book but I dont think it will ever mention about specific parts warranty -
However, your keyboard should be covered by warranty unless ofcourse there is visible proof of mishandling of the laptop.
You can call Lenovo customer sevice and talk to a supervisor. This is not the official Lenovo forum and I believe you need to talk to a Lenovo rep.

A:My Lenovo G570 keyboard problem

Hi Anitajp ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
When did the issue started ? A system restore would be able to correct this as it most likely be triggered by an application change / registry / drivers setting since both external keyboard would be doing it. Just jump back to a previous working date , then apply appropriate security scan to make sure that it is not software related.
How about typing in a notepad then counter check in your email .
Try doing safe mode and see if you are having same issue .
If you pull out onscreen keyboard from ease of access , would you have the same problem?
You can also refresh your BIOS by shutting down your PC , unplug the adapter and remove the battery , Press and hold down the power button for 12 seconds and place the battery and ac charger back .
Turn on using the Novo button instead of the power button to access BIOS ,

I have a device manager device warning for the Lenovo Virtual Keyboard. The manager says the driver is corrupted and will not load. Everything seems to work. The touchscreen keyboard comes up when I ask from the lower taskbar.  It sometimes comes up on some web sites and some entry areas. I have no problem with how it works right now. The device manager should not have a device that is not loading or have a driver that is corrupt.

I have been using my IdeaCenter for about a month when I got up one morning and it was on the blue screen asking for the keyboard language After picking oneit goes to a screen with options for restting the system etc and boot to Windows When I pick boot to Windows it rebboots and goes back to pick a language for the keyboard This 710 boot IdeaCentre with will Lenovo not keyboard continues endlessly Tech support had me reset back to factory setup This painful solution did not IdeaCentre 710 will not boot with Lenovo keyboard fix the problem Another Tech support guy had me unplug the key board This allowed it to boot up but with the keyboard plugged in it has the same recurring endless nonboot cycle I tried several of the usb ports this did not fix it I unplugged the keyboard and the mouse and put a wireless keyboard and mouse from another computer This boots fine I then took the wireless mouse out of the loop and plugeed in the original wired mouse and it boots fine It will boot with another keyboard just not the one suppplied originally After explaining all this to two different Tech support technicians they both cam to the same conclusion which is my computer has the wrong version of the operating system on it They are sending me a recovery set disks I assume I reluctantly agreed to this solution I tried to get them to send me a keyboard with it but they felt that was way to radical That would combine what they believe is the problem with what I believe is the problem nbsp Has anyone else had this problem Do you have a solution Do you know why Lenovo believes my computer has the wrong version of Win on it

I know this question has been asked before, but those solutions do not work for me. I just got my new Lenovo z51 80k60030us and I quickly put a game on it just to test out the waters. ran well. However, I can't move (use the keyboard) and look around (use the mouse) at the same time. I looked all over the internet and understood that it has something to do with "palm tracking" however no one had the solution for my specific mouse/keyboard issue. when I try and change the options under the lenovo mouse, it is grayed out. I tried everything to ungray it, but I have yet to succeed. help please??

Hi, I have searched the net and forum to find a solution but have not found anything that helped to solve my issues. I have downgraded from OS Windows 8 to Win 7 last month. I installed all drivers from the Lenovo website. Following the downgrade, some of the F / Fn (function) keys stopped working, such as the flight modus that allows to disable the wifi. Also the 2nd row of keys does not represent what's printed on them which makes it almost impossible to use the machine. Also, Windows Update is inaccessible. Any ideas anyone ? I am about to lose it here. Many thanks !   I tried the Windows fix-it tool for the keyboard but this did not make a difference. I also downloaded the Lenovo energy management tool.

Is there anyone with K2450 experiencing the same thing as me?  My K2450 keyboard, when I press Shift + Home / End, is not working as it should. It's working good when I press Page Up / Page Down / Home / End.It's also working good when I press all this combination:- Ctrl + Page Up / Page Down- Ctrl + Home / End- Shift + Page Up / Page Down FYI...Home = Fn + Page UpEnd = Fn + Page DownOn text editor (e.g: Notepad, Microsoft Word), Shift + Home is used for blocking text from cursor to begin of line, and Shift + End for blocking text from cursor to end of line.

Hey. My Lenovo Y-50 is just over a year old and all of a sudden the keyboard started acting strangly. On the windows login screen everything is normal but then the keyboard doesn't work at all. When I turn on the on-screen keyboard it starts working right away. Any ideas what the problem might be?

A:Lenovo Y-50 strange keyboard behavior

Hi Svalm ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
How was it if you use an external USB keyboard?
Erratic key behaviour may be influence by softwares (ex. malware/virus ) so would this also happen with the laptop working on safe mode ?
Try to update the keyboard drivers and if same issue , uncheck the box to disable filter keys .
When did the issue started ? If there was changes made on default settings a system restore to go back to previous date maybe able to fix it the way it was on that date .
How was it if you create another user account as administrator? This is to isolate if issue is systemwide or only on user profile.
Finally check the keyboard performance in the BIOS (refer to manual downloadable from the support site on how to go to BIOS specific to your model) or booting on a rescue image. If same issue then it may be an issue with the hardware and best to check if there are obstructions (dirt/particles/ liquid spills) that may cause this .
Update us how it goes.
