I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I sent my laptop in to be serviced under warranty because the keyboard would not work. was denied service because of water damage but now my screen doesn't work, can someone help

A:My screen won't turn on after service was denied on warranty due to water damage

Water can destroy a laptop or any other electronic device. Chances are that the water sat underneath the keyboard and flowed onto the motherboard where it dried causing corrosion and damaging the motherboard permanently. You could take the laptop to a repair shop and they could give you a repair estimate. Of course, you will have to pay for this repair. If a liquid is spilled on a laptop in the future, immediately open it and turn it upside down. This allows the liquid not to hit and pool on the motherboard, or in a keyboard

After years of building PCs for friends and family I purchased a Dell Vostro 410 for work as it was a good deal.

Anyway as things happen, the jack pin from the speaker system broke off leaving the end in the pc.

Try as I might I could not pull it out and ended up drilling out really carefully. Unfortunately now cannot use the onboard sound and have installed a pci sound card.

From what I can see, there is no evidence of my abuse and I have paid for 4yr warranty, should I come clean and get a new mobo or just keep quiet?

I contacted Asus support for warranty claims for a friend as his motherboard was faulty and was within the warranty period. But there was no response might be the email on which I contacted was wrong in a similar case Intel had given a very prompt response can some one tell me where can I get the contact info as the email given on their website was non responsive.

A:How to claim warranty

The case I referred to was from India so some contact email where I can contact here,
I raised this thread because when I went to the shopkeeper it was very very difficult for me to make him understand the BSOD ,STOP screen error which after reading memory dump I came at a conclusion was a motherboard error and the service personal in India at Priya were not convinced even though I had changed motherboard so I wanted to know the procedure.

Spent a good while "chatting" w/ NewEgg & Seagate - India about OEM vs "Retail" hard drives.

NewEgg clearly states on their site that many "OEM" Seagate internal drives drives have 5 yr parts & labor "Manufacturer's Warranty" (on the specific HDD specs page).

Seagate - India, tells me that drives designated as OEM will NOT have any warranty (or support) honored by Seagate to the end user.

For those w/ experience in this, what's the actual truth about OEM drives & warranties, from NewEgg or any other E-tailer?

A:Warranty difference OEM hard drive vs "Retail"

OEM you have to go by what the Manufacturer of company says as they're the one going to help you out. So OEM drives if you buy them from a vendor at a computer show they'll replacement for free. The vendor not the Manufacturer company. HDDs I just buy them wholesale and still get the protection from the manufacture. Unless NewEgg is going to protect after 5 years down the line, but you'll have to get that in writting..

Retail - Price is higher unless you get it on clearance then it would be the same price of OEM but you get protection

OEM - Price is cheaper low overhead
OEM - no hardware brackets
OEM - no retail box
OEM - no manual
OEM - no warranty (unless you a PC repair shop of PC vendor since you would buy in blunk)

Noticed that a couple of the online shopping networks are giving quot Lifetime Support quot on many of the computers they are selling They never talk about the quot Warranty Period quot not even once during the hours long show I can believe that with quot Lifetime Support quot that years from now I could call one of the major computer support numbers and they would answer some questions support vs Warranty Lifetime but are they trying to deceive us in a way so that we as customers could call in in years and complain of the computer not booting up and they would diagnose it and say the hard drive is bad and they send out a new one FREE Come on - most of us that have bought computers in the past know better but there are new first time customers and older folks that aren t that familiar with using Lifetime support vs Warranty or purchasing a computer that certainly can misunderstand that there is a BIG difference Lifetime Support is NOT Lifetime Warranty I think this kind of sales bull needs to stop - their lying by omission Just makes Lifetime support vs Warranty me furious when I watch them Your thoughts please nbsp

Has anyone carefully reviewed Comodo's hardware warranty? It will pay the user $500 malware permanently damages the system - beyond any repair - with CIS installed. In 99.99999% of cases a clean install of the OS fixes everything. And how are you going to prove that malware permanently broke your HDD, your screen, or any other hardware?

Comodo's Warranty is phrased and termed in a manner that makes it a virtual impossibility that Comodo will ever have to make a pay out.

It's all fine and good that Melih stands behind his products - but the warranty is absurd.

This illustrates the ridiculousness of it all...

I, HJLBX, will personally insure anyone - absolutely free of any cost - against "The Sky Falling," and will pay anyone who presents a valid claim - $1,000,000,000.

Such insurance is worthless.

Just sayin...

If anyone wants that Falling Sky insurance, then send me a PM.

Hello, my company has resold nearly 100 Acer laptops in the last year. All have worked great except one. It will not charge a battery. We have verified this by swapping batteries from identical units.

The real issue is that we cannot get this unit replaced. It was purchased from Newegg Business and when calling the support number and entering the SNID [edited for privacy]the automated system says it's out of warranty and sends us to the 3rd party.

So then we communicate with Newegg who says Acer has verified the warranty and for us to call back. This has been going on for over 7 months! Meaning in less than 5 months the real warranty will expire though this thing has never been used.

Please help!

Thanks!

A:No Warranty Support

Thanks, we tried that many times. The Newegg rep just found that by using the chat support and entering the full Serial Number it finally worked. The phone support nor chat would accept the SNID. So this was the root of the  problem.

Hi! I have a question about the Win10 update. I bought my unit last June this year. Will it void my warranty if I download the update and update my Unit form Win8.1 to Win10?

A:Warranty Question

It will not void warranty if you download the update and update the Unit form Win8.1 to Win10. You may create the USB recovery media before making any changes on your computer. Install all the updates for windows 8.1 and wait for the windows update 10 icon to be displayed in taskbar.

A:Incorrect warranty start date

Hi @Jtsnr ,

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Hi Is it registered with HP? When registration occurs the warranty would be adjusted to start from the born on date (I think you press ESC and then F1 to view this). So if you could try that and then ask again if there is still a difficulty.

I have two issues. The first issue is that I purchased my Sprout on January 13, 2016 and when checking the warranty online it states that it started on November 6, 2015. I have read other forums about this being a known issue and I would like this fixed immediatly.  Secondly, I have just set up and started my new Sprout today. (It took a while because we just bought this house and wanted to make sure we had the office set up before we set up the Sprout.) The speakers DO NOT work. I have done everything that I could possibly think of to make them work and still nothing. I am currently on hold with HP Customer Service and have no spoken to a rep yet. I have been on hold for 15 minutes so far. Can someone please HELP me! Thank You

A:My warranty start date is incorrect.

Brooklynn429, welcome to the forum. Here is a answer to how to deal with the difference in the waranty start date: We have a PoP process setup for this. Proof of Purchase. We don't have access to sales systems for everything we've sold through our partners and retailers so we have to use the good old fashion Proof of Purchase system. The customer simply sends (fax I think is the current method) us the receipt and we update the warranty status. That simple. I guess it goes without saying that they need to contact support for this. You will have to contact HP Customer Support to get this accomplished. As for your sound, I suggest going into the Control Panel / Sound to see if the speakers are selected as the Default.  Sometimes in Win 10 the settings are changed for no apparent reason. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Greetings, No one in this forum can give you assurance in writing. You can use the SSD. I have an 810-150se and did what you are contemplating. My PC came with the option to select a 128 GB or 256 GB SSD, or a 2 TB HDD. I selected the 2 TB HHD and then added a 256 GB SSD as the OS drive after purchase with no ill effects when restoring the factory image. One caveat, you must put the PC back to factory specs if it has to be serviced by HP. Some hardware changes can make it difficult to load the factory image. HP will do this (load the factory image) before returning the PC to you after performing warranty service. Cheers!

A:Notebook M30-70 - SSD and warranty

Technically opening the back of the laptop can void the warranty since there are no consumer replaceable parts (CRUs) inside your model.  Fortunately most Lenovo Service Centers understand that owners will upgrade the memory and change hard drives so they tend to over look the fact that the laptop has been previously opened.  If you use care in opening the laptop and center your activities on just replacing the hard drive I don't think you will have a problem, but keep in mind the Service Center makes that final determination.   Also keep in mind if the system ever needs to be sent in the warranty won't cover the new SSD drive.  That warranty is provided by the SSD drive's manufacturer.

For your reference I have included a link below to your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual that explain how to remove the exisiting hardware.  Please follow any advice or pre-cautions the manual has to offer.

Hi,

I am not from the US, but I bought my laptop online (Microsoft Store) while visiting at the US, I want to register my product at the dell site so I can transfer the warranty to my home country, but when trying to register the product, I only have a option to feed a US address (which I don't have). What can I do?Thanks

Hi, I need help please.

My Dell Inspiron 13 running on Win 8.1 has a blue screen crash on startup with the message along the lines of Boot Configuration Data missing etc. I learn from this https://www.dell.com/support/Article/us/en/19/SLN287103/EN post that I need to basically recover from a separate boot cd or drive, but i procrastinated on making one while my laptop was still OK. Then I hit a snag with trying to make one via downloading according to instruction here http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN130027 because apparently my warranty had expired and because of that It wouldn’t allow me to download and make a USB Key… (Really, Dell, why? Why not just give consumers a boot cd/usb key in the first place?)

What can I do?

A:Inspiron 13 Out of Warranty, Boot Configuration Data crash

Hi REYLEE,
The OEM media is available for purchase while placing the order.
Ensure the HDD is fine before you troubleshoot the OS - Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
You would basically need the OEM media to repair the OS as stated in the first article you have posted.
If you are in the US / UK - you could order the media online - http://dell.to/12vcZ27
Let us know if you have any other queries.

A:Out of patience with Dell's horrible warranty service

Tough luck. I've also have had more hardware issues than I can count, including trackpad failures, fan issues, lights burnt out, etc... I just continuously had stuff break on my $1400 laptop for no reason.
After months of dealing with this ***, I decided I just wanted Dell to buy the laptop back from me or give me store credit as that's really the only repayment for the amount of stress and issues this laptop has brought me. I was basically told by the highest level sales manager that I cannot return the laptop and I just have to go the Dell's support system. There is really nothing you can do except constantly call in service requests and once your warranty expires, like me, you are pretty much screwed.
That being said, I will never buy any Dell product again.

Hi, I purchased an Inspiron 1543 on Oct 27, 2015 from an authorized dell store at GIP Mall Noida and since then I have been strutggling with Dell Warranty team to update the warranty status under dell festive offers. They have updated only NBD warranty date to Oct 2018 sine I have purchased two years extended warranty, but all the other warranty dates are yet to be updated and they are not even replying my emails. The worst customer service I have ever seen. I will never recommend anytone to buy a dell product. I have provided everything they reqested already. My service tag #<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>. My contact # are<ADMIN NOTE: Phone number removed per privacy policy>. Can anyone help? And specially Dell should not sell it's product through cheaters like Skope computers(A dell authorized showroom, GIM Mall, Noida.) They are thieves and cheaters and not have manners.

Hello. You have posted on the Laptop Audio discussion board. I suggest that you post on the Customer Care board. Do not include your service tag and contact numbers, because those will be removed as per forum policy. If someone from Dell replies to your post, they will ask you to send them that information via the forum's private message feature.
I hope you find success in resolving your warranty issues.

I have purshased a lenovo y50 laptop on 19th March during my trip to USA then I returned Egypt back and discovered that the laptop is defected with dead area in the trackpad and a horrible display with very ugly yellow color.

I contacted Lenovo Egypt and they told me to go to service provider to get these issues fixed. The service provider said they will replace the trackpad but they see that the screen is normal and they have no solution for it.

Before I bougth it, I made sure that all waranty services can be done from Egypt but Lenovo Egypt refused to replace the laptop and the service provider refuses to fix the screen. It is really disappointing!!

Hello I just bought a refurbished laptop from staples and i'm wondering, do I have a one year warranty. It says it in the page but the staples manager told me to get a 1 year warranty from them because I don't have a warranty. Take note the page says "The warranty is covered by the manufacturer for 1 year" but Staples says I don't have a warranty.

A:Flex 2-14 - Warranty: Replacement policy

Hi wavare_ajinkya ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As a general rule, CRU (customer replaceable parts ) will not void the warranty as listed from the hardware manual . However most upgrades on this model shows that such are considered FRU (field replaceable unit) , meaning you would have to open up additional parts and might require skill and specific tools thus CRU ID is N. (item6 page 72 ).

1. Upgrading your RAM however would not void any warranty.
We had same issue discussed on this thread .
On quotes: " Similar to this query is this case  for the Z500 replacement of optical drive which is also a CRU Id - N and this thread.

Warranty agreement :

What this Warranty Does not Cover
- failure or damage resulting from misuse, abuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical or operating environment, natural disasters, power surges, improper maintenance, or use not in accordance with product information materials
-damage caused by a non-authorized service provider
-failure of, or damage caused by, any third party products, including those that Lenovo may provide or integrate into the Lenovo product at your request

Warranty is not covered if during the process of modification , damage or accidents may incur both on the replaced parts and the original devices ."

The answer would be no , upgrading  the harddrive ,RAM will not void your warranty not unless that original parts gets damage because of or during the process of upgrade.

For best measure , you may give Lenovo Tech a call so that they would be able to note it on your account for the pc that you have plan for upgrades .

2. Changing the original operating system would not void the hardware warranty , but support for the software such as the new or original Operating System (example to restore it back/ drivers issue etc.) would be users responsibility and functionality thereof.

Hope this answered your query .

Regards

Hello I am wondering what a normal response time for a replacement hard drive under warranty might be I had a client who's hard drive was diagnosed as faulty with the assistance of a Lenovo technicial on-line He told me the supply of a new hard drive would be between and days I just received an email yesterday telling me it would be shipped on May which is days from the time I called and had the on-line technician diagnose it was faulty But that is not all that is solution slow Very Warranty only to supply the hard drive then an installer will contact my client to arrange the installation Who knows how long that is going to take It is likely to be more than Three Weeks for this issue to be solved This is an unacceptable delay Lenovo Very slow Warranty solution - is that normal for your company nbsp I am in Australia the machine Very slow Warranty solution concerned has a serial number of PC C and the support reference is nbsp nbsp

So just now i checked the motherboard revision and the graphics chip on it . Dell has replaced my motherboard with a older refurbished version even though their own bios update caused the damage to my motherboard.
It has a ATI 1 GB 5470 HD instead of the one that i was having before the replacement (ATI 550v 1GB)
which is better than 5470HD
Does dell always cheat like this if people are ignorant ..wow!

So I have had my XPS 13 for a couple months now. Recently I noticed some backlight bleed in the lower left corner. Also there is some uneven backlighting but that is unnoticeable by the naked eye only seen under a camera lense, I dont mind it. The lower left corner bleeding shows at even 25% brightness. The picture below shows the bleeding at 100% brightness, it actually looks worse.
Its really disappointing that there is any bleeding at all on a ultrabook that cost 1500 dollars, I work really hard for my money. Now I was wondering, if Dell would cover this under there warranty. Has anyone dealt with this problem? If so how was Dell able to help, is it worth trying.
If it matters this is the Dell XPS 13 9350-1340SLV Core i5 128GB Signature Edition Laptop. Purchased in Canada at the Mircosoft Store.
Thanks

A:XPS 13 (Skylake) Backlight Bleeding & Warranty?

I also just purchased the same model in the Canada from the Microsoft Store and just noticed a bit of blacklight bleed in similar areas (an inch or two from the bottom of the screen, except for me its on the right hand side). Design flaw on some units or could Dell be giving Microsoft subpar units to sell?I would try contacting Microsoft since thats where you bought it from.

A:Dissapointed: Dell's warranty parts are refurbished

If you read the warranty statement, they DO tell you that they use refurbished parts - so too does every other computer vendor.  Read the terms of your washing machine or car warranty -- same deal there as well.  It's standard practice in just about every industry.

This has got to be the worst laptop purchase ever, I spend most of my time trying to solve sluggish performance issues and recovery options due to laptop either freezing or crashing.  Please can a knowledgeable representative of HP contact me to firstly confirm status of warranty has been corrected and secondly how do I return through laptop under warranty,

Software Concerns:Security Software: ??? Make sure to install security software. I recommend:Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows coupled with Malwarebytes. Do not start the free trial of Malwarebytes. Just use the standalone version, update it, and scan your computer once a week with Malwarebytes and with Microsoft Security Essentials.

After installing your security software, update it, and then run full scans today with each program. Report back the results of the scans.

A:Computer Warranty

I doubt very seriously they will up date it for free, but you have to read the contract to be sure.

It is getting old, in computer years, but a lot of it depends on what you use it for.

Also plan on replacing the hard drive down the road. Hard drives will die after a period of time.

The restarting could be as simple problem as it is dirty/dusty inside, i.e.heat!

A:bios update for a out of warranty comp

Go to www.dell.com, then go to Support, then Drivers and Downloads. On that page choose to find by service tag, then enter it and it will give you downloads, inlcuding BIOS, for your machine. I'm not familiar with pogo.

The laptop still fails the memory extended diagnostics! After coming back from QSL in Sydney Australia for warranty repair. QSL refuse to talk diectly so I'm faced with phone tech support again. QSL Silverwater Sydney, seemed to be hopeless in fixing memory issues and checking, I'm quickly losing faith in recommending Leneovo as there after sales service seems to be pretty poor.

I am in the market for a new high end laptop. I'm looking at a Dell XPS 15 and a high end HP Envy laptop. I know both manufacturers are going to hose my operating system with junk before they ship it off, and so here is my question -

If I reload Windows 7 on a brand new laptop, does that void the warranty?

Hi just bought an HP desktop computer at Walmart I also support. HP vs. warranty and phone Walmart bought a Walmart service computer Walmart vs. HP warranty and phone support. care plan which kicks in after the manufacturer's warranty ends assuming it was from the manufacturer not the Walmart vs. HP warranty and phone support. store I called up HP about their extended warranty and they also offer one They seem comparable on price and as far as I can tell on repairs if Walmart vs. HP warranty and phone support. a hardware problem arises I'm wondering about the quality of Walmart computer phone support I know what HP is like from previous experience For example does Walmart use native English speakers They told me they do but it seems unlikely to me that a company with Walmart's history would not farm the tech support out to Asia but I can't check it for another year I'm thinking of either bringing the Walmart plan back which they said I can do and then buying the HP extended warranty -- OR maybe keeping the Walmart one and also buying the HP one I'm not that up on computers and usually run into troubles I can't handle on my own fairly frequently Any advice appreciated Thanks Tom

A:Walmart vs. HP warranty and phone support.

Hi Tom -

If the HP extended warranty includes parts & labor and the price is affordable to you - BUY IT and fore go the Walmart phone support.

I have an HP Pavilion Notebook, well out of warranty. I keep getting the pop-up to buy an extended warranty (which I do not want), and when I click 'next', it refers to inability of IE to respond. How can I get rid of this pop-up for once and for all? I have pop-up blocker on in Firefox. I have even selected "already bought one" and "buy now", but get same result.

I'm having issues doing a clean install on this PC. It seems it comes with Windows 8 installed and another tech downgraded it to windows 7. I was then told to do a clean install on it and pulled the cd key with a program and installed Windows 7 Pro with a ISO I have. Now it won't activate the key saying it is invalid. I have the CDs coming from HP that I guess might help but I need this PC working today really. Is the key it pulled really a windows 8 key and just said 7 since that what was installed when I used the program to pull it? What are my options to get an active key?

A:HP pro desk 405 still under warranty

Because the computer came pre-installed with Windows 8 the key is embedded in firmware. You can download the media creation tool here. You will need to download it using a Windows 7 or 8 computer.

Follow the clean install steps here. If you need data off the drive you can pull it using a live linux disk like FatDog64 or Hirens CD. You may need to disable SecureBoot in BIOS but I believe it has already been disabled if you are booting Windows 7. When you get to the Window asking for the Windows 8.1 key do not input anything and click Next. Windows 8.1 will self activate when online.

If you cannot click next then use one of these generic keys depending on what version of 8 was on the computer.

Windows 8.1 (Not Pro): 334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT Windows 8.1 Pro: XHQ8N-C3MCJ-RQXB6-WCHYG-C9WKB

The key you pulled may be for Windows 7. You can verify it using this utility. When you input the key what is listed under Edition Type?

Hello,

My Toshiba Satellite P755-S5265 has been acting strangely lately. Whenever I start it up, it starts up and goes all the way up to the windows 7 screen, with the symbol that has the 4 colors. However, after that my mouse shows up and that's all that shows. It's basically a blank, black screen mouse with it.
I have a one year warranty that was included with the laptop that expires in 3 months. Should I use this warranty and go back to Office Depot for them to fix it...or should I use my recovery disk to fix it?
I'm not sure if the warranty will help as I heard bad things..any advice would help.
Thank you!

P.S. I have also tried troubleshooting the problem. I have tried holding the power button for 1 min and have tried cleaning the RAM. None of these have worked.

A:Use recovery disk or warranty?

<<Should I use this warranty and go back to Office Depot for them to fix it...or should I use my recovery disk to fix it?>>

It seems to me that the nature of the problem...which is not yet defined...should determine your options more clearly.

I've not owned any OEM systems covered by a warranty. Seems to me that the terms of that warranty are something that you should become familiar with.

If the terms indicate that you should return the system for everything that might go wrong...then such is a viable option. If the warranty covers system/component defects (such as a typical component warranty will), then I would think that you need to be able to assert with confidence/proof that such defect exists.

Recovery disks are supplied by OEMs...as the routine way of overcoming system Windows problems that the user/customer cannot deal with. These disks may or may not be supplemented by system support webpages at the site of the system manufacturer.

If I had an OEM system...the support webpage for that system would be the first place that I would look...for possible answers to situations that I encountered while using my system.

FWIW: Office Depot is not the OEM, Toshiba is. If you have a warranty with Office Depot, that is quite different than the Toshiba warranty. In either case, the written terms dictate.

I have a HP ENVY m7-010dx that died last night.  Upon power up nothing happens except a continuous slow blinking light on the cap locks key.  I went through their online troubleshooting help section and it looks like it is a hardware issue and will be going in for warranty service.  The big problem I have is that the hard drive has lots of sensitive personal information on it that I believe a good tech could copy and fairly easily decipher.

So what can I do?  I have never removed an internal hard drive and accessed it as an external drive.  I really need to wipe all personal info before returning for warranty service.

Any ideas?

Thanks

A:How to Secure Hard Drive Before Warranty Service

DVDs?  USB flash drive?

How much personal info are you talking about?

Since most of us don't have that much (IMO) personal info on a system...either of the above should do.  Simply copy the data to new media and then delete it from your hard drive before sending.

Our company runs a lot of warranty jobs for Circuit City and other big companies who no longer service or are just outsourcing their labor We go to hundreds of homes all for the same issues- Power Supply MotherBoard and CPU What s Crazy is most times the warranty company sends a whole motherboard and only part needed was a power supply The process for the company diagnosing the problem is all CRAZY is Companies-- Warranty This Computer messed up BUT-- THIS IS THE CRAZY PART They don t require the customer to use a Battery Bakup or UPS Are they also offering a warranty to keep the power at a steady voltage in your home because here in Florida the power is VERY inconsistent and your computer WILL be messed up if you Computer Warranty Companies-- This is CRAZY aren t using a Battery Backup Why don t they tell the customer this when they sell the computer It would be an add-on to the Computer Warranty Companies-- This is CRAZY sale Instead the customer buys the warranty- which doesn t cover personal data loss and then has to wait around for the warranty company to diagnose the problem And if your personal data is gone--- I bet you were wishing you Computer Warranty Companies-- This is CRAZY would have just bought a UPS and NOT the warranty Thoughts nbsp

Just a quick question...I know that switching to Linux will void my warranty, but does downloading and using Open Office usually result in a void of warranty? Just wondering if anyone knows

So I, like many xbox360 owners am now experiencing the infamous red ring of death, the wrinkle: I bought mine on ebay. Now, when I bought it I also signed up for a one year warranty through a company called Square Trade. I remember reading that often times they will simply issue you a check, but if they think they can fix it they'll ask you to send it in; I don't wanna send it in because I partially opened it (thinking for a moment that I might be able to fix it but then deciding otherwise) and in so doing this broke the warranty seal. How should I word my description of what happened so they will think they cannot fix it?
Thanks a million

Dear GPU owners/buyers,

I was trying to get my GPU RMAd but lost the invoice and got this answer from TGT overclocking support:

"Dear Mr. xxxxx

I am sorry, but without a copy of the original invoice, the warranty is void. I know the experience of losing documents during a move, but the warranty claim requires a proof of purchase.

Another issue about the warranty claim is that TGT ceased operation. The closing is quite recent, I don't know yet what will happen regarding warranty requests."
Please be informed of the situation if you have a TGT GPU or planned to buy one.
TGT overclocking is the company making the overclocking for Point of View GPUs

I ve been really suffering and cursing my laptop When I attach an external monitor under + fault this atikmdag I covered - am software or is hardware? warranty? it will work fine - for a while And then it will just crash If I don t yank out the external monitor cable in time - I see the dreaded bluescreen of atikmdag fault - is this software or hardware? + am I covered under warranty? death Today the same thing happened - but I noticed in the bubble from system tray mention atikmdag I googled and it atikmdag fault - is this software or hardware? + am I covered under warranty? seems I am not alone - atikmdag fault - is this software or hardware? + am I covered under warranty? there are millions and billions of people suffering from the same problem The thing is tooo much information I couldn t figure out head or tail of what exactly the cause and solution was Many links say that it could be based on a zillion different thing and to each of these there are different solutions Firstly is it hardware or software Secondly can I make a claim against my warranty I have a Dell laptop and am years into a year warranty - so I m still covered I would add I have updated the latest graphics driver from Dell - doesn t solve problem And also I thought I d mention I rebuild my laptop every days and make sure all Windows and Virus updates are in place - so it ALWAYS is a fresh new laptop - just mentioning this to dismiss the fact that it could be a Windows problem Any replies would be great Thanks OM nbsp

A:atikmdag fault - is this software or hardware? + am I covered under warranty?

The ATI driver that is being blamed in the error pop up is for your graphics card but it could mean that your card is failing.

When you say "I rebuild my laptop every 30 days" what exactly do you do and what software are you using.

Windows and all Anti Virus software can be set to automatically update so you should not need to check either of them.

Follow this to post a few of the latest minidumps from the BSOD's so they can be analysed.

First locate your minidump files, they are usually found by clicking on your C: drive, in windows explorer, then click on Windows to view the contents. If your operating system is installed under a different drive letter then look there. They should be stored under a file called minidump. The files will have a .dmp extension.
Zip up at least 6 of the most recent files into one zip folder and save on your desktop (if there are less then just zip up what you have).
Below the reply box click on Go Advanced. Then scroll down until you see a button, Manage Attachments. Click on that and a popup-window opens.
Click on the Browse button, find the zip folder you made earlier and doubleclick on it.
Now click on the Upload button in the popup. When done, click on the Close this window button.
Enter your message-text, then click on Submit Message.Click to expand...

Extended warranties are a waste of $$$ imho.

The reason every one wants to sell them to you is they are so profitable. High profitability means a very high percentage of the contracts sold never get used.

i have an older dell e1505 laptop that has 4 years of accidental damage warranty. it was bought in 2006 and the warranty will soon expire. dell does not make or sell the E1505 anymore. recently i dropped my laptop and its pretty badly damaged. are they going to give me a new laptop like one of those they currently sell, or are they going to find the same laptop (maybe refurbished?) and give me that instead? anyone had experience with these warranties?

A:how does the accidental damage warranty work?

Most likely they are going to repair what is wrong with the one you have, or if they can dig up an exact model they may replace it. I doubt seriously if they are going to replace it with a brand new current model, and if they did they would probably do so with a model of comperable value to you rexisting laptop.

I have a Western Digital hard disk which I purchased from NewEgg The warranty on this drive is years I went to their web site and attempted to get an RMA for the failed drive Problems Several attempts over several hours told me consistently I was entering an invalid serial number Not possible--I was copying and pasting the number from their test report to their web site Next I was advised the web site was down and on Western Heads web status Digital warranty site from up suggested I use Chat Next Chat was down The next day the site finally accepted the serial number and responded the drive has no warranty and never Heads up on Western Digital warranty status from web site did that it was a drive sold to an OEM builder like HP or maybe Dell and that I should contact the OEM builder I called by phone talked to a real human verified the warranty was good through November and got an advanced replacement So if Western Digital s web site tells you your drive has Heads up on Western Digital warranty status from web site no warranty don t believe it Phone them up nbsp

A couple of weeks ago, my ECS 8800gts (320mb) video card began having problems displaying things. I tried everything i could think of but it still doesn't work.

I decided to try and send it back under warranty so i submitted a case to ECS. They told me to contact my re seller (MSY) for any RMA claims but on the re seller's website, it says that they give a one year warranty. I've had the card for a little over a year but the ECS warranty is 2 years.

I'm very confused about who should take responsibility for replacing the broken card. Any light shed on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brent

A:Video Card warranty

Well that wouldbe MSY being an *** and ECS being a pesky manufacturer. Did you submit the warranty claim to ECS's local (AUS) website/whatever?

I have been looking at getting a TB hard drive the setup and reason on my computer I won t explain However the brand I like the look of is Seagate WD choose to go green which is about the only feature they like to brag about Nothing seems any better than Seagate with Hitachi So far I understand they have two models which is why I looked up quot ST NS vs ST AS quot in google The actual difference is small being the NS having more restistance to shock because they might be 1TB warranty drive Seagate used in Seagate 1TB drive warranty trays of hard drives Can you imagine getting read errors all because four of the other HDD s are creating problems to one other on the same tray Oh and the amount of hours it is expected Seagate 1TB drive warranty to have in it s life I suppose I don t mind which model I choose out of the two as long as it is available and is the cheaper one The main question I have to ask is why from what I have noticed in NZ is there usually a year RTB warranty on this drive when Seagate offer years warranty which is a lot compared to other HDD companies I can understand if they reduce year on the drive but I am missing a pretty big years warranty If I can t get that warrenty how can I get that somewhere else nbsp

Dear TSG community,

This is my first post here at TSG(This is probably what u call it in short, I hope).

I want to check out the warranty available with my Intel Original 945GNT motherboard. Where can I check it. Where do I enter the s/n. Is there any link as it is there at seagate site?

I searched the Intel website, but could not locate it. So please guide me.

Thank you all in advance.

Is NewEgg (& other online retailers) WRONG about the warranty, or is Seagate WRONG? They can't BOTH be right.

Thanks.
