Power button turns yellow instead of blue

Q: Power button turns yellow instead of blue

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 (desktop) with Vista Home Premium. Until the other day, when I pushed the power button to start the PC, it turned blue and the PC went through the boot-up process. Now, it turns yellow and nothing happens unless I do more. So I push and hold the power button until it turns off. Then, I push the button a bit more strongly and it turns blue and boots.

My first thought was that the power switch for this 2008 PC is getting old and that I may become unable to boot at all. So I have decided to just let it go into sleep mode for now rather than turning it off for the day.

Any ideas on solving the yellow light issue?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It's an error indicator (not a failing switch).

Depending on the model, there may be other error indicators as well. In any case, q quick search found this: Inspiron 530 steady amber power light. - General Hardware - Desktop - Dell Community

Toshiba Satellite A25-S2792 w/ XP & P4 has greenpower chord is lit and yellow battery light is flashing when power chord is plugged in. After I press the power button, the power chord light changes to yellow, begins flashing and the battery light goes out. Removing the battery gives the same results. Pressing and holding power button down for 20 seconds w/ battery out yields same result as well. Suggestions?

Well the most likely posibilities are the Powersupply and the Motherboard. First inspect the motherboard and any other components for phyiscal signs that they have been fried (burn Marks, burnt smell). If no phisical damage is seen replace the powersupply
Here are some links to replacements.

A 300W powersupply should be suficent but has limited upgradeibility

I'm having a problem with my computer monitor. It used to be okay but somehow the computer monitor power button is not green now, instead it's yellow, therefore there's nothing on the screen. I checked the power cable and connection to the cpu and it seems alright. I also shut down the computer and monitor and waited for a minute, the computer booted fine but when I turned on the monitor power button, it was green for a few seconds and then turned yellow.

Can somebody tell me what seems to be the problem with my monitor? And how would you suggest to fix it?
Thank you much.

A:Computer Monitor Power Button Stays Yellow

Check the cable from the monitor to the video adapter at the back of the case. Then you'll need to try another monitor. If it works the problem is inside the case. Making sure your video card if you have one is secure or trying another one would be next.

To be clear, my PC turns on and seems to run exactly as it should, so this is possibly more of a cosmetic/superficial issue. The little light located on the power button no longer lights up when the PC is powered on. Strangely, the light still blinks on and off as it should when the PC is in sleep mode, so the light still has some functionality. My PC is only a couple of months old, so I'm just a little concerned that this could be a sign of things to come. I hope that other components don't start failing on me.Does anyone here have any possible explanations? Thanks.

My roommate tried to "fix" his PC but god knows he doesn't know crap. The PC acts like it is going to turn on, but the light on the front of the tower does not light up, nor does the display. The light on the motherboard is solid green, and he is still able to charge a phone through the PC, so I'm guessing the power supply is good if it can do all of this. At this point I am at a loss because I'm normally very good with this stuff, any suggestions? and I don't believe it's the video card.

When the power button is pressed on the tower, it flashes it and the computer sounds like it about to start up when the button goes back off and doesn't start-up. Occasionally it works after end on end of pressing the button (sometimes up to 30 minutes) but crashes after 15-40 minutes. What can I do!!

I'm considering buying an all in one PC but I don't know if they're goof for playing games with high detail I.e Simulations. Any views?

I recently built a new PC contianing new components. I bring them home and assemble them (pretty sure i did it correctly first time build). I turn on my compter, the all the fans spin, and the LED on my front intake fan lights up for about half a second and then everything just dies.
Note: There's a green LED on the motherboard which lights up regardless of whether the computer is on or off.

Could this be a power supply problem or a newbie mistake?

A:T7600 and T5600 were working fine. i stored them away for year. i opened them and now they both do not start. shows yellow 3 and 4 with power button lit

Start off by replacing the motherboard batteries on both because they're probably dead.

Power off, unplug
Press/hold power button for ~15 sec
Open case, remove battery (see each model's service manual on Dell's Support site for details)
Press/hold power button for ~30 sec
Install fresh 3-volt CR2032 lithium ion battery (~$2)
Close case and try to boot with only mouse, monitor and keyboard connected

This morning I came to my computer and it had a BSOD from my wireless adapter driver. This has happened a few times before. But when I turned it off and tried to turn it back on, it wont start! As soon as I press the power button, the lights flash and the fans get one jolt of power causing them to spin and die out immediately and then everything stops in under a seccond. What could be causing this? I did add a new new hard drive to my computer yesterday, but it has restarted fine a few times since then, and unplugging it didn't fix the problem. Other than that, I can't think of anything that is different that would be causing this. Any ideas?

When I turn on my computer, a blank blue screen comes up and remains.  The startup sequence does not initiate and the computer will turn off after a minute or so.  Hitting the esc key after power-on gets me to the "Choose an Option" page.  From "Advanced Options", I have tried "System Restore" and "Startup Repair" neither fixed the problem.  Unable to boot in safe mode or change any of the startup settings because the system startup (restart) sequence is broken. A hard system reset did not work and pushing the F2 Key does not bring up the sys diag page. At this point, it seems that the only options left are trying to boot from a USB device or doing a PC Reset (keep my files)? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Computer has new motherboard, it powers up and everything sounds like it's running. Power button should be blue but it's orange. And nothing will display on the monitor.

A:No display power button orange not blue.

Likely it's only the fans and drives and LEDs that are powering up while the motherboard isn't.Does it give any beeps when you start it up?It's a hardware problem somewhere. Why did you replace the motherboard and if it was because the previous one was bad, how sure are you it actually was bad? It could have been the power supply or a peripheral connected to the motherboard. Is the new motherboard the same as the one you replaced? If not, is it compatible with the cpu and ram--which I assume you swapped in from the old board? With the power cord removed, temporarily disconnect the drives and remove any add-on cards not needed for an initial bootup, remove any USB devices. Then plug the cord back in and see if you at least get a posting or logo screen on the monitor. If not recheck all connections and verify the cpu and its heatsink are correctly installed.

I don't know what's wrong with my laptop It's an MSI CX62 2QD if it helps. The laptop power button keeps turning blue then fading and the screen stays black no matter how many times i hit the power button. Before this happened, I was using the laptop and it was fine except for the laptop suddenly black screening twice.
And the night before, i don't know if this i related but i got a notification saying that the laptop memory is running low and that I should remove or close some programs.

Now i dont even know what's wrong with my laptop. Please, does anyone know? I have my finals coming up and Programming is next and I'd definitely need to use my laptop.

Update: I just hit the power button again and it flickered red and blue and now it stays blue except the screen is still black.

Hey guys, just a shot in the dark question, but:

I put a fresh install of windows 7 64-bit on this PC I built for my sister, and everything appears to go fine. However, after updating the bios, and installing the gfx card drivers, she tells me that when she presses the power on button, she gets a blue screen, the computer reboots, and then everything is fine.

Ideas as to what that might mean? If this is too little to go on, I'll head over there asap and go through the whole process, I just want a starting point.

Thank you for your time

Small edit: the system specs of my profile are the ones for her computer.

My monitor Dell 17in flat screen will dislplay all colors great. But if the cable to the cpu or the monior gets moved or bumped. Or if I am inside my PC installing a card and then close it up and turn it on the display has a yellow cast.
Could it be the VGA card, the Cable or something else. Where should I start checking?

A:Monitor turns Yellow cast

Is the screen constantly yellow or is it intermittent?

Usually it is caused by faulty GFX card or bad connection with VGA pins. Do you have the VGA cable screws tightened? Is there a bent or missing pin in the VGA slot? Try checking those. Have you tried a different VGA cable?

A:Monitor/Display turns to yellow

If your video card is an addon card plugged into your computer's motherboard it may have become loose inside. (ie you may need to remount the internal video card securely)

If you video card is onboard, ie part of the main internal motherboard. I would suspect that one of the pins, either on the motherboard video connector, or on the monitor, has been pushed in slightly. (not creaing proper contact)

Otherwise it could just be a faulty monitor

Hi,
In reference to the following posting, http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19676126:
I am not the individual who initiated this query but I did have the same issue with my Dell Inspiron 5547, where it wouldn't turn on after a power button shut down.
I followed Hema's instructions by removing the battery and charger and then holding down the power button for a few seconds, and then putting back the parts. It seemed to have done the trick... At least for now. Is this just a temporary fix?
While doing a Google search for a solution I seem to have encountered a number of people who experienced the same issue. Can you also explain why this happens with this particular Dell laptop? Is it a model flaw?
Thank you

Does the case actually have a separate Sleep Button? I suspect it's not even connected, as the motherboard manual doesn't show a connection for a Sleep Button, only a Power Button.
Windows Power Options won't list it, as it doesn't exist.

If you have a Sleep Button on the keyboard, it might not be listed in Power Options either. That would be up to the Driver software to add that option. You may have to use the software that came with the keyboard to configure the sleep button on the keyboard.

In short, the shut down button's yellow shield won't go away. It's the button at the lower right on the start menu. My computer is up to date. I've shut down and restarted several times. Each time, the yellow shield comes back.

I've declined the KB 3035583, KB 2962664 updates.

Four updates failed a couple of days ago:
Intel - Other hardware - Intel(R) Management Engine Interface
Intel - Other hardware - Intel(R) Active Management Technology - SOL
Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Audio Device, Other hardware - Realtek High Definition Audio
Microsoft - Other hardware - Microsoft Digital Media Server Module

I'm going to give Microsoft FixIt a try. There's a troubleshooting link to it under update history.

Hi, I am having a problem with booting up my computer. Everytime I turn the computer on, the HDD light comes on but the power light doesn't. When I press the reset button, everything starts working and the computer boots up. I think the problem might be the wires that get plugged into the motherboard. I don't know how to correctly install them and the manual that came with the motherboard doesn't help at all. I have a GA-7IXE4 motherboard with 1000 MHZ AMD and 256 MB RAM. If anybody could assist me with this problem, please do so. If anybody knows how the wires are suppose to be plugged into the motherboard correctly, please let me know because I think that might be the main problem. Thanks.

I dont know toooo much about computers, so does anyone have any ideas for me?

A:push-button switch turns on, but nothing else

No way to say for certain without changing the hardware around. Could be PSU or motherboard. Might be video card, but less likely.

Disconnect all other hardware except for the motherboard and turn it on. If the symptoms do not change, it's going to be either the motherboard or the PSU.

Next step then would be to put in a known-good PSU and see if that fixes it. If not, it's motherboard.

recently bought a Dell Inspiron 14 5459 on June 12, 2016 and first thing I noticed is that to turn on the laptop I need to press and hold down the power button at least for 3 seconds in order for the laptop to boot up, this seems strange, I brought up this issue at the Dell Store where I bought the laptop and the sales people there told me that they noticed this in most Inspiron models.  Is this normal?

A:Windows 7 blank screen after sleep mode (unable to power off with power button)

Hello,

Is it possible that you can test with another compatible PSU? I would strongly suggest doing so.

Also try the following steps:
?Make sure that the (internal) speaker is connected to the motherboard
?Remove all memory and attempt to boot the PC
?You should get the no memory beep errors

If the Power Supply is in working order and no beeps are present then it can be indicative of a faulty motherboard.

For troubleshooting purposes it may be a good idea to remove the components from the case and bench test to rule out a short.

I have had my Hp laptop for 3 years now. It has been working perfectly, up until 2 weeks ago. It would not turn on when I clicked the power button. After clicking the power button, 15 minutes later I noticed it just came to life. Sometimes it doesn't turn on at all for days, but sometimes I click the power button and it boots within 15-30 minutes. When i click the power button, nothing happens at all for that duration. No fans, no lights nothing. The only light on is the power cord button that is always on when i plug it in. I did replace the power cord, and tried cleaning out the insides, it did nothing. Should i just replace the motherboard?

My laptop will no longer turn on.  When the AC adapter is plugged in, the LED light is white indicating power is arriving at the laptop. However, nothing happens when I push the power button. Troubleshooting steps I have completed already include: Hard reset (several times including after each step below)Tried starting without the batteryRemoved all removable components and reseated themRemoved all removable components as well as bottom cover. Cleaned with compressed air. Put everything back.Nothing appears wrong and nothing happened between the last time it turned on and this time that I am aware of. The laptop is out of warranty, and I am pretty handy with computers. Is there anything that can be suggested short of a hardware replacement that would help get this resolved? TIA

@jthayne Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips, Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out  As I understand the computer receives power from adapter but power button does not work,Don't worry, please perform the below steps to resolve the issue: If the computer does not start, the LED lights do not glow, and the display is black, you can perform one or more of the following actions to resolve the no power issue:  1. Examine the adapter and power cord for physical damage2. Test the power from the AC wall outlet to the notebook connector3. Start computer using the battery only4. Check that the lid switch moves freely5. When you have completed the troubleshooting steps covered in this document, there should be power available to the computer. When you press the power button, the LEDs should glow, and you should hear the sounds of the fan and the hard drive spinning. * If the battery does not accept the charge or the notebook does not turn on without the AC adapter, contact HP to order a replacement battery. * If the LEDs do not glow, and there are no other indicators of power being available to the computer, contact HP for technical assistance in troubleshooting a potential problem with the AC power connection or the system board.* If the LEDs blink or the computer beeps, but it does not start, go to HP Notebook PCs - Troubleshooting LED Blink Codes or Beep Codes During Startup or Boot. * If the LEDs glow but the computer does not start on either battery or AC power, go to Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot. Eager to help, I hope you have a good day ahead, And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.Regards,

Please let me know the difference between sleep button and power button

Is sleep button the one which will be on the keyboard?

On the CPU there will 2 buttons one will be to start the computer and another one to restart computer?

Can these buttons be used to work like to enter in sleep mode, hibernate mode etc(Making changes in power options in control panel)

I'm having windows 7 computer

A:Power button and sleep button

sleep buttons depend on the manufacturers to where they go. most laptops sleep function is assigned to an F key and used in conjuction with the function or "fn" button. usually on F2 or F3.
These buttons are not programmable via the power options in control panel.

if its a desktop and doesnt have a dedicated sleep button you can reasign the task to either the restart or power button within control panel and or set it to sleep/hybernate after a given time.

Hello guys I bet this thing is all over the internet but I can't possibly fined a working answer for my problem. So the problem is that i have that annoying blue and yellow shield on all of my icons. I download a installer for something and that shield is on that. And not just the installer it's on some of my shortcuts. And I cant get rid of them. I know it's because you need admin and thing but I have administrator and yes before someone says this answer I put the UAC and restarted the computer but nothing worked maybe someone could help me, thanks.

Why would you want the shields off? They have a reason to be there.
Can't you run them with admin rights? Just asking.

This reminds me of task manager in Win7: green, no shield on shortcut.

And the new task manager in Win8: white, with shield. But this is a new program: former TM.exe in CP version.

I also asked myself why the shield but I never found (or want) a way to remove it.

I recently upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10. When I power down the system from the menu, my computer does not completely turn off. The procedure I use is described below:

Click Windows_Start_button > Power > Shutdown

The system closes applications and appears to initiate a shutdown procedure. Everything appears to be shut off, but my mouse is still lit up. I do notice that the fan stops and everything else appears to be completely shut down. When I was running Windows 7 before my upgrade, my system completely powered down.

I have a dual boot system with Linux, and when I power down from Linux, the shutdown is complete, so I don't think I accidentally did anything to the hardware or BIOS.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm pretty sure there is some tweak in Windows 10 that would fix this, but I haven't found it yet. Thanks for any suggestions you might be able to offer.

A:Power down button does not completely turn computer power off

I found the solution on another thread. If you have this problem try the following:
1. Log in as an administrator.
2. Right click the Menu button.
3. Left click -> Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power button does > Change settings that are currently unavailable
4. Uncheck the box next to Turn on fast startup (recommended)
5. Make sure Hibernate is unchecked.
6. Left click Save changes.
The next time you shut down the computer, it will be completely powered off. At least this worked on my machine.

It's probably just a trivial thing, but I'm curious. If I open my users\PD folder from the Start Menu, the Taskbar icon is blue; but if I open another folder from that window, Music for example, it's yellow. But if I open the Music folder from the Start Menu the Taskbar icon will be blue. Is that normal for Vista? Thanks.

Hello i got my new Toshiba laptop yesterday with Windows 7.
Whenever i try to download anything, i get to the 'install' phase, if i click on 'install' nothing at all happens. There is small blue and yellow shield icon that appears to be disabling my ability to press 'install'.
Just to clarify i have not altered any settings, and i am using the free McAffee trial that the laptop came with.

Hi

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix tool:

Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

Hi firstly sorry if this is in the wrong section I really have no clue Blue/Yellow and Lines Symbols as to why this problem is occuring whether it is Mobo or Blue/Yellow Lines and Symbols Graphics or just the operating system Anyway what happened is I was play CoD World at War when the game suddenly froze with lots of blue horizontal lines then shortly after it blue screened me and shut down The blue screen is far to fast to catch what it said It restarted and at the start when it has all the boot up info drivers and crap it has loads of different symbols and things all jumbled up on the page Most of the symbols look like backwards capital F s It gets past them parts fine though then gets to the windows loading screen The loading screen goes and looks as if windows is about to start up It freezes on a black screen for a moment then blue screened again I can get into safe mode though there is lots of blue lines on dark backgrounds and yellow lines on light backgrounds Screenshots do not show the lines My GCard is a Nvidia GTX I ve tried installing drivers and stuff for that Still have the same problem nbsp

Some of the programs that I have pinned to the taskbar have a blue and yellow shield over the icon which means when i try and run it i get a dialogue box pop up saying do i want the program to make changes to the computer.
Is there any way of turning this off without putting the securiity settings right down?

A:[SOLVED] Blue Yellow Desktop Hijack

Hello, and Welcome.

We prefer a more comprehensive set of logs to begin an analysis, as indicated in this topic, Step 5.

http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...oval-help.html

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt here.
Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

Click Upload.

What DSS will do: create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

A:Blue/Yellow box with Warning Spyware detected

Hello, and Welcome to TSF.

Please subscribe to this thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this click Thread Tools, then click Subscribe to this Thread. Make sure it is set to Instant Notification, then click Subscribe.

Before beginning the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.

It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download ComboFix from Here:

* IMPORTANT !!! Place combofix.exe on your Desktop

We will first use ComboFix to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery mode if needed. This allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Next, download the Microsoft file from this link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Download the file & save it as it's originally named, next to ComboFix.exe.

Now close all open windows and programs, then drag the setup package onto ComboFix.exe and drop it. Follow the prompts to start ComboFix and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Recovery Console.

ComboFix will now automatically install the Windows Recovery Console onto your computer, which will show up as a new option when booting up your computer. Do not select the Windows Recovery Console option when you start your computer unless requested to by a helper.

As part of installing the Recovery Console, ComboFix will begin to run. Follow the prompts to install the Recovery Console. Your desktop may disappear. This is normal. It will return.

Once the Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see a message that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:

Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

It does not appear as though DSS was allowed to download and install HijackThis. To produce a HijackThis log for your next reply, please do this:

Please download HijackThis to your desktop

Alternate link

Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.

Should it not open, navigate to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis and double click on HijackThis.exe

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Post the hijackthis.log file here. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have any questions along the way, STOP and ask them before proceeding.

My system had become very slow. And there also appears to be some problem with the graphics. When I close a window, there remain blue or yellow lines on the desktop, where the border of the window used to be. I saw a suspicios process whose name I have forgotten, but I remember that the search I conducted returned that it has something to do with nvidia and is not actually a malware maybe. It was taking too much resources. I ended it and the performance got a little better. I also did something I don't remember, after which, that process doesn't start again.

Also, dap.exe was taking so much resources. The process was there even after I exited DAP. Although DAP was functioning perfectly. I also uninstalled DAP. The process doesnt come back now.

But the blue and yellow lines are still there. And the system is still slow. What do I do???

Hi,1. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.2. Do part 1 of 2 of S!Ri's SmitfraudFix Please download SmitfraudFixDouble-click SmitfraudFix.exeSelect option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

For whatever reason, this morning I have a thin blue vertical line down the right side of my desk top monitor. I purchased a new HP with Windows 7 in December of this year. The Samsung digital monitor is only 7 months old. I tried (foolishly) to tap the screen and the blue became yellow.

Wierd.

Any ideas?

The box appears in the middle of the screen. I can run limited programs because the computer thinks it needs an administrator. The desk top has just turned red and there is a red circle with a white X in the middle of it located in the task bar. Please help.....

Hey folks Thanks for checking out my post I've looked online but couldn't find a solution so I thought I'd make my own post nbsp Some details This laptop is an HP DV - ca It was purchased refurbished about a year ago and has had almost no problems to this point I was at a friend's house using my laptop and everything was working fine Shut down packed it ... response NO No from power DV6-3000 HP button Getting power. up took it home pulled it out pushed the power button and nothing I didn't leave it in HP DV6-3000 Getting NO power. No response from power button ... the sun or bump it on anything Just brought it home and it wouldn't turn on with no warning signs or anything nbsp Now I looked into power issues and I can guarantee my battery as well as the AC adapter are perfectly fine I also tried the hard reset but still get nothing The light by the DC jack does not turn on when I plug it in HP DV6-3000 Getting NO power. No response from power button ... Now I'm relatively tech-savvy and since my laptop was no longer under warrantee I figured I'd check HP DV6-3000 Getting NO power. No response from power button ... it out for myself Don't really have the resources to take it to a repair shop The DC jack looked like it might have had some wear on it so I ordered a new one from a reputable seller on eBay replaced the old one and nothing changed nbsp I'm completely at a loss here Weird thing is when I have the laptop opened and plugged in I can feel the motherboard heat up a bit Not sure if it's supposed to do that but I know there is power going to it even though the DC jack light still does not light up nbsp If anybody has any insight PLEASE let me know and if you need any more information I'll happily give it Thanks for your attention

A:HP DV6-3000 Getting NO power. No response from power button ...

Bannor,  The LED on the DC jack usually is an indicator of whether the AC adapter is working properly.  That light is on a different circuit and does not require a good system board.  If the light does not come on usually the adapter is bad. If you've already tested or replaced the adapter then the dc jack is the next step however when HP replaces this part in the repair depot they usually replace the entire board (with jack soldered on) at once.  You might consider replacing the entire board. Wes

Hello. Today, not sure how it happened, but my desktop turned all blue and in the middle is a blue/yellow text box with this--"Warning! Spyware Detected on your Computer! Install and antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer." I can't run my antivirus program or spyware programs and can't use System Restore. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

A:Blue/yellow "warning! Spyware Detected On Your Computer"

PLease try to run this. If you install and cannot start it try renaming the desktop icon to something else ( eg: donuts)Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Reagardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

I am bananas over this! I have Windows XP Professional and my monitor will only display in green/blue/yellow/black combo of colors. I have tried all of the display options I know of and tried the monitor options, too. My correct monitor is loaded. Any suggestions??

A:Monitor Displays Only Green/blue/yellow/black

A few questions:

When did this start happening?

Have you recently installed any new software?

Have you tried altering the monitor's own settings via the physical buttons on the monitor as opposed to the settings in windows?

Do you have the most up to date graphics drivers installed?

For those looking, the solution is here:
Remove yellow/blue sheild icon from shortcuts

-Original post:
After upgrading from windows 7, some of my desktop shortcuts have this shield icon graffiti sullying their lovely visages. Can I remove these somehow?

A:Remove yellow/blue sheild icon from shortcuts

Would appear that you need Administrative rights to run those programs. I wonder if you could use a hack like the blank.ico trick for not having the shortcut "arrow" overlay on shortcuts, the way Ultimate Windows Tweaker 3 does.

A:Blue and Yellow warning sign has taken over desktop! (It looks like this is common..)

Hello and Welcome to TSF.

Please Subscribe to this Thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this click Thread Tools, then click Subscribe to this Thread. Make sure it is set to Instant notification by email, then click Add Subscription.

Please copy this page to Notepad and Save it to your Desktop in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions.

Before beginning the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding.
Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below.

It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence.

------------------------------------------------------

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

------------------------------------------------------

When you posted the HijackThis log, you cut off the very top portion. Please post logs in their entirety.

------------------------------------------------------

Please download ComboFix and Save it to your Desktop.

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

First, we need to install the Windows Recovery Console.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery(repair) mode, if needed. This allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Download the file from this Microsoft page:

For XP Home >> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

For XP Pro >> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Save it as it is originally named to your Desktop.

Now close all open windows and programs, including all antivirus and antispyware programs. Get help here

Then drag the setup package onto ComboFix.exe and drop it. Follow the prompts to start ComboFix and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Recovery Console.

As part of installing the Recovery Console, ComboFix will begin to run. Your desktop may disappear. This is normal. It will return.

ComboFix will now automatically install the Windows Recovery Console onto your computer, which will show up as a new option when booting up your computer. Do not select the Windows Recovery Console option when you start your computer unless requested to by a helper.

Once the Recovery Console is installed, this blue window will appear:

Please continue as follows:
Close/disable all antivirus and antispyware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. Get help here
Please click Yes to continue scanning for malware.
When the tool is finished, it will produce a log for you.

Please post that log, ComboFix.txt along with a new HijackThis log so we may continue cleansing the system.

------------------------------------------------------

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan and Save a Logfile'. Save the logfile and post it here.

------------------------------------------------------

Go to Start > Run and copy/paste the following single-line command into the Run box and click OK:

C:\Qoobox\Add-Remove Programs.txt

A text file should open. Please post the contents of that file in your next reply.

------------------------------------------------------

Please post the following in your next reply:

C:\ComboFix.txt
new HijackThis log
Add-Remove Programs.txt

If you have any questions along the way...STOP and ask them before proceeding.
