Q: Outlook 2013 to Outlook 2016/restoring email accounts

Hi, is there any way of backing up all email accounts in Outlook 2013 (including username+password) and restoring them in Outlook 2016 without having to manually recreate the accounts? Thanks

Having .iaf type accounts from former Outlook (2000) and Outlook Express, is there a way to import these into Outlook 2013 rather than manually keying them on a restore?

- From what I've been gathering, this cannot be done. That signatures have to be manually recreated. This right? Even when restoring Outlook 2013 to Outlook 2013 - they aren't stored in a retrievable spot?

I use Outlook for all my email requirements One BTinternet com email address One Outlook com email address Previously had above two email accounts sending and receiving from the same PST file each using POP Wanted to change the Outlook com to IMAP with my understanding being that this would then sync both ways with the web-mail for Outlook com Deleted the old POP account settings for the Outlook com email address and then went through the process of setting up again using the automatic configuration rather than the quot manually configure quot 2016 Outlook POP3 accounts email and Server Exchange - thinking this would automatically use IMAP Left settings unchanged for the POP BTinternet com email address To my surprise the Outlook com email address was not setup as an IMAP but as an Exchange Server Initially thought this would be ok as this would also Outlook 2016 - Exchange Server and POP3 email accounts sync both ways with web-mail Soon discovered however that any email coming in to my still remaining BTinternet POP email address was also arriving into the Outlook com Inbox Why is this happening and what do I have to do to still keep the POP email Outlook 2016 - Exchange Server and POP3 email accounts separate from the Exchange Server email each using their own Inbox Both Inbox's are listed in the left hand panel Outlook 2016 - Exchange Server and POP3 email accounts of Outlook Any help much appreciated

Hi Everyone,

I recently created a new profile in Outlook 2013 (using Control Panel > Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2013)(32-Bit)) due to my Inbox becoming corrupt (as the result of intermediate Exchange Server access).

In the new profile I have successfully added my primary email account, and I am receiving / sending emails fine. However when I add additional accounts either through the Control Panel > Mail..., or Outlook 2013 > File Tab > Add Account I am not able to see them in the left hand panel of Outlook.

Outlook 2013 with 3-4 different email accounts with data file. How can I have 2 of them deliver the new emails to the data file? I've looked through some internet posts and I can not find "change folder" in the email account in account settings. I'm not sure if this is the correct way and if it's a good idea to have the new emails delivered to the data file.

Can anyone advise on how to set up outlook.com custom domain email accounts with outlook desktop 2013 or 2016
i have 3 accounts that are oulook.com custom domain accounts working fine in outlook 2013 - suddenly 2 of them stopped working  and i have searched the webs to no avail - answews.micorsoft.com techs sent an open thread to the forum.

the typical m.hotmail.com server ins't working and neither is IMAP

if anyone has any troubleshooting tips please help -maybe a new server address? ive tried a few still not working.
maybe thiers a way to find out what server the account is on?

In various places it says to close down Outlook 2013 prior to restoring from a .pst. To simply copy and paste the .pst file into the proper location which is often listed as an email address.

Why is this, and does restoring in this way really apply when restoring Outlook 2013 from earlier versions of Outlook?

I recently imported a .pst file from Outlook 2000 into 2013 (all emails/contacts) and to my amazement, the source 398 MB .pst ballooned to over 1 GB.

Does importing the .pst ( as opposed to copying and pasting while Outlook 2013 is closed) cause such great multiplications in file size of the .pst?

It is always good to use the Import option if you want to Import the .pst files from a very older version of Outlook. Outlook 2003 and later versions use a different file format compared to earlier versions of Outlook. That could be the reason why the file size has increased.

Hi

I am using Vista Home premium 32 bit and i am using windows mail for all my emails. I also have office 2007 with Microsoft Outlook.

Problem is that i want to use microsoft Outlook but i can't transfer/export my email accounts from Vista Windows mail to Microsoft Outlook or even outlook express for XP. I have forgotten 3 critical passwords so I cannot recreate the email accounts in Outlook....

I think you need to import the required info into Outlook 2007 -

In Outlook 2007, click File > Import and Export > Make the appropriate choices
> & hopefully the Import / Export Wizard will oblige.

I have recently installed Office Professional Plus 2016 (the full package, with nothing left out, as well as Outlook 2016). However, I recently discovered that Outlook 2016 doesn't support the Business Contact Manager addin.

So, can I install only Outlook 2013 (and BCM) alongside Office 2016, without removing/breaking either? Does anyone else have this setup working without issues?

Hi,

I've read in many forums about Outlook/Office365 using a tremendous amount of bandwidth. I have an office with 10 heavy outlook users, half being delegates of the bosses that have HUGE mailboxes (~15GB) and that refuse to archive emails.

They have a 30M internet connection that seemingly is not enough and constantly makes their Outlooks "hang" when searching for delegated contacts or just sending and replying to emails with big attachments etc.

I just want to confirm that this is seemingly is the case and that it's nothing else weird. Does it sound right to you guys? I told them to get the max bandwidth they can get there, which is 50MB but they are at the point where they are grumpy and don't believe my advice to upgrade their connection.

I have many hotmail accounts (over 10) and was using Windows Live Mail 2012. Because WLM stopped support for ActiveSync, I switched to Outlook 2016. One issue I see is when I add my hotmail accounts to outlook, some are setup as "Microsoft Exchange" and some are "Exchange ActiveSync". On one o fmy PC, everything seems to work fine but not the 2nd one. Most hotmail accounts on my 2nd PC ended up being "Microsoft Exchange" and I hit the outlook limit on # of MS Exchange account Outlook will support. Anyway to force Outlook to set these up as ActiveSync.

Hi there
My main e-mail client is Outlook 2010 with IMAP (I've tried email clients but Outlook for me is still the best and most convenient for handling multiple e-mail accounts including work ones).

I'm thinking of upgrading to Office 2013 -- if I do this has anybody tested the GMAIL integration with Outlook 2013

Works fine with Outlook 2010 on W8 Enterprise edition X-64.

I would like to restore my mail accounts from saved data on my old HDD. I did restore my message folders but don't know how (or if) I can restore the 4 mail accounts I had setup in OE7. Any suggestions?

Under account settings > Add

For multiple accounts, I'm trying to understand if the data for each account is held separately.

My main concern is to have a single backup location, not 10 or 12 that represent all of my email accounts.

I know you can create another account, like "My Personal Folders" (not based on an email name) from "Create or Open Data File" that will show within the folder list. But how might all the accounts be associated?

If the user goes to Export - with all subfolders checked. Does it matter which email account is present above all the folders being exported while doing so - this is no minor point?

- Much appreciate any help. Even a manual like "Plain and Simple, Microsoft Outlook"(Boyce) doesn't clarify.

It depends on how you have set up your Outlook. If each account is using a separate Personal folder, then each is a separate PST file. Look on your system and see if you have more than one PST file.

I have all of my email going into one PST file, from 4 different email addresses.

Hello I've (outlook email back changing address and 2013) email to server put just found a pst file with all my old email I'd like changing email address and put email back to server (outlook 2013) to put them back on the server hotmail but before doing that I've seen that some of them were not recived or sent to my actual address hotmail com but to an old one infinito it So I was thinking to export them from outlook to CSV modify that address into the new one and then import them back on outlook The problem is that when I export them to CSV in that file they don't have the date received or sent and so when I get them back on changing email address and put email back to server (outlook 2013) outlook they miss that info Can anyone help me doing this I've been told that VBA macro should be useful for this but having a look in it I have no idea of what I sould do Ah instead of outlook I can also use thunderbird if it's easier with it but then I'd have to convert that pst file Thanks

When my email client is open on my desktop it appears its not looking for emails, but when i shut it down and re-open it then looks and delivers emails that are waiting. can any on e help on this as i have contacted microsoft which they were no help!!!

There are red 'x'es in email on Outlook 2013.
However when I log in as Administrator, I can see images in email without red x.

The value of "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Cache" is "Z:\Temporary Internet Files".

And I tried "safe mode" way - open outlook in safe mode and close and open - but it's not working.
Any helpful comment would be appreciated.

In Outlook 2016 I want to delete emails in batches by searching for a keyword and then deleting all mail that is displayed by the search. How do I do that?

Once you have searched for a particular term, click on one of the emails that comes up and press CTRL+A to select all the messages, then hit the delete button. That should hopefully work for you

Since I have this notebok Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro with screen resolution of 3200x1800 I have problem on visualization email in Outlook 2013.
When I open email in the reading pan, show me long and narrow. I hope this is due to wrong office setup but I tried everything and no change.

This morning I tried to compose an email in Outlook 2013.I entered the address and subject but when I tabbed to the body of the email nothing that I typed appeared. This is odd. What could be the cause? Everything was working fine yesterday.

This just started a few days ago.
Will not send emails from outbox
Will receive emails OK
I have done no changes other than the standard updates thru MS.
Contacted Charter and went through troubleshooting - they say its a MS Outlook issue. I am able to send/receive thru my web based accounts @ Charter.
I have gone through "safe mode" w/ MS tech and wants a ton of money, didn't fix anything!
I am on a hotel wifi network but have been for months and this just started a few days ago.
On a quirky sidenote: The B/G color always wants to default to white. I always had it dark grey, changes back to white when I restart Outlook.

You could try Repairing Office 2013. To do that open Control Panel, select Programs & Features, then scroll down to Microsoft Office 2013, Right Click on that & select Change & that will open a couple of Repair Options to try.

Ages ago i used XOBNI to search for email adresses, now with Outlook 2013 this is no longer possible.

When i open Outlook and type a search i hardly ever get an answer.

So does anyone know/use a good search program?

I tried to install LOOKEEN, but installation did not go well.

running windows 10 outlook 2013 and I clicked on an email that was junk or spam. But got a pop up from outlook stating contacting what i can only assume is the email client. Was this an attempt from the recipient to steal info from me. Or is this normal on outlook 2013. Concerned but my computer does not have any secure information on it. Ran numerous scans with bit defender malwarebytes superantispyware. and came up clean.

This is going to be very difficult to answer without additional information. 
 
It is not uncommon at all for e-mail clients to download nothing but the message header, but not the message content, until you try to open it.  This saves bandwidth and lets you mark stuff as junk without ever having opened the message or downloaded the message content.
 
It's also not uncommon, if this is how you have Outlook configured, to get a message if the Outlook client is trying to retrieve the message body from the server and that is delayed for any reason.
 
If you still have the message and/or can do a screen capture (Alt+Prt Sc) of the message dialog and post it that would be helpful.  I'm willing to bet that the message dialog would not appear again if the content was fetched the last time you touched the e-mail message under discussion.

Hi - I'm trying to set up my addresses in Outlook, having previously used WLM but although I have been able to do it in the past, I had to delete them and start again. This is the message I'm now getting. I tried online chat with Plusnet, but the person kept telling me to 1) remove my email address and then 2) send myself an email from Outlook. She then said it was an Outlook problem - any ideas, please?

When I installed Outlook 2016 on a Windows 10 PC, it automatically downloaded all of my mail history from Google mail.  Now I want to delete some of those emails in batches.  I would like to do a search for a keyword in the spam, such as "sweepstakes" and then click a "Delete All" button, or something like that.  How do I do that?

Checking a web based email (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail) with Outlook is as safe as doing it using the web browser (Firefox, etc)? I know that using the browser is safe since the connection is encrypted, but I'm unsure about Outlook. Thanks for your feedback.

I have a picture in my outlook signature. When I change my settings to give each mail message the new background color i selected, there is a white box around my picture on my signature. I found out how to fix this by making my signature picture transparent. Now, my question is how do I save this so I don't have to make it transparent each time? Thanks.

I've never run into this issue before. I went to check email this morning and it fails with the message: "receiving reported error 0x800CCC0F. The connection to the server was interrupted".

My username and password are correct and I didn't change any settings since last night when it worked. I did restart my computer this morning due to Windows automatic updates needing to be installed.

edit: Can't check email from my iPhone either.

Fixed. I went to xfinity.comcast.net to see if I could log in and check my email. It says my password was reset due to unauthorized usage. I made a new password and now my email works.

Hi,

In my company if a user prints an email their name appears at the top of the page. I have one new user who, when she prints an email the attached appears rather than her name. Does anybody know why this might be?

For years I have used Microsoft Office but never used the Outlook part for emails. With Live Mail on its way out I thought that I would try it out. I have set up my accounts and can send and receive with no problems and it is slowly populating all the various Received/Sent/Deleted sections.
I have loads of contacts in the Contacts section but what I have yet to figure out is how to get the To: box to autocomplete the email address as I start to type in the recipients name. I am finding that I have to look up the email address and get that inserted. I am sure that there must be an auto complete but I have yet to find it.
All suggestions gratefully received.

I have set-up my outlook to automatically receive my hotmail and gmail accounts. I have 2 questions:

1) If I delete emails from outlook will they automatically delete from my actual hotmail/gmail inbox? I have my blackberry set-up that way.

2) How do I get subfolders to show up in Outlook? In my gmail inbox I have subfolders labled for different emails to be saved. However in Outlook all my emails, even ones saved in the subfolders, are all shown in the inbox.

I don't think either will push subfolders down to your Outlook client. You can, however, just create some folders and set up the Rules Wizard to move them upon arrival.

I did some damage recently and now that I'm up and running again I'd like to try and get my outlook 2000 POP3 email and address book back. unless there was a file in my root directory I needed, I know I have everything, its just I don't know where to find and replace.

Am beginning to wonder if Microsoft ever launch a product that works with other Microsoft products First all the recognised email Outlook default 2013 as client not browsers no matter where stopped working in windows I tried command prompt as admin netsh winsock r worked on st computer running win that the browsers failed on but this had no effect so I did a clean boot which seems to have resolved this issue nd computer Outlook 2013 not recognised as default email client with win on that the browsers stop working but internet running fine on them Before this was done all of sudden outlook decided when starting to display the message Either there is no default mail client or the current client cannot fulfill the messaging request Please run Microsoft outlook and set it as the default mail client Now this I have done in all areas outlook control panel and internet options within the IE browser But nothing changes and they were all set as default anyway Anyone have any idea why this happening and if there is a fix as I am getting to the point where I am beginning to despair with win and outlook respectively and recommend roll backs till they get their act together and sort them out

As described in the title. I have a colleague who has to work through a large amount of old emails in his particular folder. Whilst he has scrolled down to look at older mail he finds that when a new email arrives it automatically goes back to the top of the folder to display the newly arrived message.

Is there a setting to turn off so that he can work further down the folder and then manually scroll back up to view new mail rather than it doing it automatically?

Hello,

Previously used Win XP, Outlook 2003 32bit. We backed up our emails using software called msgsave. This allowed us to select which folders where to be backed up and saved each email as separate .msg files using a naming convention we could choose (eg Received date - Subject - From).

This allowed us to easily search for an email and drag and drop it back into outlook if required.

We have now upgraded to to Win 7, Outlook 2013 64bit and found that msgsave does not work with 64 bit versions of outlook.

Does anybody have suggestions for similar software?

If not, does anybody have suggestions for a different way to back up?

Running Windows 7, 64bit
Outlook was woking fine until Monday the 23.
Send/Receive error message reads: "Sending reported error (0x80042109):"Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail serve. If you continue to receive this message, conntact your server administrator or internet service provider (ISP)."

Checked with earthlink, my email provider, and all account settings are correct. My Outlook e-mail account also stopped working on Monday.
The only thing I can think of is that Microsoft released an update that dissabled Outlook. Has anyone else had this problm?

No problems here but I noticed a silent automatic upgrade on the 24th for my Office 2013. I have a Click-to-run version so it's separate from Windows Update. But I can't find any info on what was changed in that update. The last update before that was on "Patch Tuesday" the 10th, and the Office version didn't change the 24th. It's still 15.0.4693.1002 so somewhat confusing...

I don't know if this is exactly what you need to accomplish.
Here's my recommendation:
Is your email hosted via Exchange or POP3? You may setup both if you wish in your Outlook.

From each computer and each User (with unique Email Account) you will need to setup all 4 Email Accounts including Public (Yahoo, Hotmail etc.), you may do so. For each one you will need the proper POP3 and SMTP Server. Here's a list of different Providers.

Windows 10 running Outlook 2016. When I did a fresh install I set up 3 email address and added my .csv files of contacts and calendar form prior install. I did not pay attention and Outlook 2016 assigned them to an email address I now wish to get rid of.

Did a web search and didn't come up with a good reliable way to transfer the folder to another email address PST file. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Within the past week when I click on an email in Outlook 2013 Inbox, instead of simply displaying a preview of the text within the preview panel, it now pops out the email in a new window.

How can I switch this behaviour off? And why did it start happening?

I have already tried ?File, Options, Mail, ?replies/forwards? untick open replies/forwards in new window.

However, I am not even trying to reply to the email. I simply click on it to read the preview.

Any advice appreciated.

Are you sure your'e not accidentally double clicking on the new email to view it. On my Outlook 2013 if I double click an email it will open in a new window, but just a single click with open the reading panel & not a new window.

Suddenly I can't open hyperlinks/links from an Email opened in outlook 2013,(I have Windows 10) I can open from the Email on any browser, I receive a warning from Microsoft Outlook, perhaps maybe it is a problem from my control panel with block/allowing programs?

This is a weird problem: in outlook 2013, I click New Email and the new email window opens on top but somewhat slowly and the says (for just a second or two) Not Responding, then it is underneath the main outlook window. I click on the new email form to get it on top and start typing the address and then click on the address I want and it goes through the same procedure, ending with the new email underneath the outlook window. I click on it to bring it on top and from then on it is more or less normal, occasionally giving me the Not Responding message on the top bar.
 
Very annoying as it takes about 3 seconds each time it starts doing its Not-Responding-Underneath thing.
 
Anybody have any ideas what is going on? You guys saved my bacon a while back so I figure maybe somebody knows!

I archived a lot of emails and after a day or so it seems to have fixed itself. It didn't right after I archived the emails, but I day later it was working fine. No idea what the problem was, other than possibly a lot of emails clogging it up.

This is an easy one: How do I Export email accounts from outlook 2003

For 25 yr Ive been quickly exporting my email acct settings from outlook express via iaf files that easily & accurately import into a new pc sw installation.

Now I'm using W7 pro with outlook 2003 & all I want to do is export my email acct settings, nothing else, so they can be easily & accurately imported into my laptop.

I'm not a typist & things can get screwed up quickly going thru outlook 2003's menus. Also one of my email accts are on a crappy isp & the others are on a private so I have a lot of picayune details to deal with.

Tried exporting from outlook & got error below.

There has to be a smarter way. Can anyone please help?

I have email accounts that were configured in outlook and both worked fine But outlook was slow to send and receive not badly but enough that i sought a solution I found something that suggested i delete a file in C Users my name AppData Roaming accounts of no Outlook can longer my access one email Microsoft Outlook I didn't delete it but saved it to desktop then restarted outlook It then would not connect to the email server of one of my accounts but the other worked fine still So i replaced the file and still no joy Deleted the non working account and tried to add it back but it couldn't find the server still so it couldn't configure Outlook can no longer access one of my email accounts it and i can't do it manually because i don't know te server settings and the email provider has no info on that Then i uninstalled office and reinstalled No joy trying to add the account tho the working account was in there so it was stored somewhere on the PC and maybe if i knew i would find the other there too and could delete it and maybe that would help if something in it is corrupted Uninstalled office again and looked to see if that folder at C Users Dale AppData Roaming Microsoft Outlook was still there and it was so i deleted it and found the one in program files was there still too so deleted that Then restarted and installed office again Nothing It just will not connect to the server I know you're thinking the email server may be having a issue But i can go to it as webmail and i get and can send emails from it Plus the fact it started when i moved that file suggests something is corrupt Guess i'll google quot outlook clean uninstall and maybe that'll do it In the meantime if anyone has any ideas i'm all ears I've googled it even using the error number and even then no joy

I have 4 email addresses on the one account, when I generate a new email, the account icon is missing, making it send by the default email rather that let me pick which email address to use.

I believe that it did work but for some reason this option has stopped.

Open a new message, verify you have the Standard Toolbar showing:
View > Toolbars > Standard

If the Standard Toolbar does appear and it is missing the Accounts button, right click on the Toolbar and select: Customize
On the Commands tab > Categories pane scroll down and select: Standard

Highlight the Accounts command on the left side and drag it up to the Toolbar and drop it.
Let us know if that works for you or not.

I am in desperate need on someones help. I have been working on this all day and have no idea how to fix this. I am using outlook XP on windows XP pro. For my business, I have 5 seperate email accounts that I receive email to each day. The thing is, with outlook XP, all emails are placed into the same inbox. I need to seperate each email account into its own inbox. Could some one please tell me how to create 5 seperate email inboxes? For example, I need on named: Questions, another named: Payments, etc. I also need to be able to place a shortcut of each of the seperate inboxes on the outlook shortcut menu. Please, if anyone has any idea how to do this, or could point me to a website that explains step by step how to accomplish this, i would be in debt to you.

Have you tried to use a filter for each account? In Outlook these are called *Rules*. Go to Tools then click on Rules Wizard. These are easy to set up and will work as long as you're not using a http email account such as hotmail. As for adding folders to the Outlook bar... create the folder you want to use in your 'personal folders list'. Then just drag it on to Outlook bar to create a shortcut. Hope this will do what you need. Later

Hi,

In Outlook 2007 I've setup an email account(email1). I then went into mail settings and added an additional mailbox(email2). I have two problems though.

1. When I want to sent an email from email2 it is actually sent from email1 on behalf of email2. Is it possible to just switch between the two?

2. When I send an email from either email address the message is put into a general sent items folder. Is it possible to put it into the sent items folder of the particular mailbox it was sent from?

I,m having terrible problems doing this at the moment.

I,ve already been through all the, "Re-install outlook", update service packs etc.

I simply cannot get outlook 2003 to work.

I want to set up Outlook 2016 on a windows 7 laptop. I will be setting up 4 POP3 email accounts just as I have on my other computers. They all have their own .pst files on the other computers and I wonder if I can set them up on the new computer to use the default account's .pst file for the three others? I've never chosen the 'use existing .pst file' when setting them up on my existing computers.

Are there any advantages to doing so other than just having one .pst file to backup and manage. That is enough for me to do it if it can be done.

Hello Everyone,

I am setting up my email accounts in Outlook 2016. I always do a manual setup and on my outlook.com email accounts, I use Exchange ActiveSync.





My questions are this.

What is this new option of selecting Office 365 and when would I use this option?When I did select the Office 365 option and pressed next my outlook would crash, any fix?What is the best selection to choose from when setting up my outlook.com account that would be great for automatically syncing with my calendar etc. on outlook.com or apple etc.?

Manual setup for outlook.com accounts is absolutely unnecessary, Outlook 2016 does that automatically in a few seconds.

That being said, if you insist in doing it manually the correct option is Exchange ActiveSync. Office 365 option is for so called workplace email accounts, Azure AD / Office 365 for Business or Enterprise users. You select that option only if your organisation uses Office 365 and you want to set up your workplace email in Outlook 2016.

Hey everyone I appreciate any help with this We're moving from one email server to another using google apps all while using outlook During the transition and after if we can set it up we have our old server forwarding email to our new email addresses So old oldmailserver com forwards to new newmailserver com and we now use new newmailserver com exclusively Most email comes from our old account still For junk email we block sender and the message is sent to the spam incorrectly as Outlook spam/junk marked 'safe' 2013 email folder We also set our oldmailserver com and things that aren't spam as 'safe senders' via outlook and remove them from the spam folder to inbox Yet for some unknown reason some email that is forwarded from our old email addresses are still being marked as spam even though they're on the safe senders list Not all of them just some Like an email from account-security-noreply account microsoft com was marked as spam but not an email from Dusty oldmailserver com yet Outlook 2013 'safe' email marked incorrectly as spam/junk both are forwarded from dusty oldmailserver com and both are safe senders Any suggestions or further explainations on how this all works is greatly appreciated

I have a desktop Pc and a laptop Pc with Office 2013. I want to export the contacts fra from the desktop to the laptop and when I export to a csv file on the desktop the e-mail adresses is missing in the file. They are not in the csv file. When I import it on the laptop names, phonenumbers, adresses etc. is ok but no e-mail adresses.

I think it is strange and I have not experienced it with Outlook 2010??

when exporting as a csv file you have to map custom fields first and take the email 1 address and move it into the other side for the addresses to get in there (from left to right) or the email addresses will not go correctly into the computer you want to do it to. Problem
When I start Outlook 2016 for first time users it still prompts the "Welcome to Outlook 2016" setup wizard where I have to create a profile.

What am I doing wrong?

OK...wow...can someone share their insight on this one.

Just installed MS Outlook 2010. I set up my 3 email accounts. Now I have a separate Inbox for each of my 3 accounts....AND one for an account called Outlook.

Why does MS have to make this sooooo complicated. On my older verson of Outlook, all my email came into the same Inbox.

I don't mind if there is a separate Inbox, Sent, etc, for each account...but what the heck is the other "Outlook" account for.

A:Solved: Outlook 2010 with Multiple Email Accounts

Go to accounts (file->Account Settings) and look at your list of accounts. The 'Outlook' account may just be one you inadvertently added as the default account name. Check the settings of that account and see if you need it. Delete it if you don't.

Also, if you haven't already noticed, the email account you send from depends on what inbox is highlighted. I had to break old habits with 2010 to keep from sending mail out through the wrong account.

Hi Everyone I have just migrated a user from Windows Live Mail to Outlook As the user originally had email accounts in WLM it has been a challenge to set up Outlook suitably The approach suggested by Microsoft is to use Profiles but the challenge with this is Outlook can only load one profile at a time This email Trying in Outlook 2007 get well 2 together accounts working to Solved: is not suitable as the user requires access to both accounts simulateneously Due to the above I took the approach of creating PST files One for each email account However unfortunately there is no ability to couple email accounts with PST files As a result all emails from both accounts are delivered to the same PST Solved: Trying to get 2 email accounts working well together in Outlook 2007 file Nonetheless I did persist with this approach for a time as I figured that I could create a message rule which diverts messages to the appropriate PST file depending on the originating email address Although the message rule did redirect incoming email where appropriate to the secondary email accounts PST folder it also left a copy in the Inbox of email account This doubling up of messages in the Inboxes of both email accounts is not an acceptable quot solution quot I finally gave up on using PST files and instead created a Solved: Trying to get 2 email accounts working well together in Outlook 2007 new folder in the one default PST The message rule now works fine and there is no doubling up of messages My user would still like to see emails deleted from email account going into an independant and separate Deleted Items folder and a likewise scenario for Sent itmes related to email account Is there any way of achieving this kind of files separation based on email address within Outlook Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated Thanks David nbsp

A:Solved: Trying to get 2 email accounts working well together in Outlook 2007

I just changed computers, and after years on Outlook Express, made the move to Outlook. In Outlook, I have 3 different email addresses (all POP accounts) set up under the same profile, but each account has its own .PST, and mail for each one goes to its own inbox. I can also choose which email address any new mail is sent from.

You completed the first half of the trick to having different inboxes for different email addresses by setting up unique .PSTs. However, you also have to then associate each email address with the .PST you created for it. To do this:

1) Go to Tools> Account Settings.

2) You should be on the email tab, and you should see a list of your email accounts. Click on the email account whose inbox you want to change. At the bottom of the window, it should show the path where the mail for that address is currently being delivered to. (From your email, it sounds like both addresses are going to the "Personal Folders\Inbox" destination.)

3) Click on the "Change Folder" button at the bottom left of the window. This should take you to the list of .PST files you already created.

4) Click on the .PST file that you want that email address to be associated with.

That's it!

Just make sure that when you created your separate .PST files, that you did it using the "New Outlook Data File" option, and not just the "New Folder" option. You will only get the additional inbox/outbox/sent items/deleted items folders if you make a new Outlook data file.

Hello,

I'm using Windows XP Home and Outlook 2000.

I cannot see the 'Email Accounts' option under the Tools menu.

I have Administrator rights and can see the Email Accounts via Control Panel ==> Mail ==> Services ==> Properties, but not via the Tools menu.

Can anyone help please.

Here is one way of doing it -
Did you 'include subfolders' when you imported your mail?
1. If yes:
You could possibly go into each folder (ie sent, inbox, deleted folders) and press Ctrl+A. This selects all your mail. When you do this for the inbox, hold down Ctrl afterwards, and then deselect any recent mail you've been sent. Then, delete it all, minus the mail you deselected in order to keep. Then import your mail once again from the file, and do not import duplicates.
2. If no:
You could possibly go into the imported folder (ie sent, inbox, or deleted folder) and press Ctrl+A. This selects all your mail. If you do this for the inbox, hold down Ctrl afterwards, and then deselect any recent mail you've been sent. Then, delete it all, minus the mail you deselected in order to keep. Then import your mail once again from the file, and do not import duplicates.

I'm not thinking of another way right at the moment. Keep in mind, you can start again and import stuff you seem to be missing. Use this tutorial: Import Outlook items from an Outlook Data File (.pst) - Outlook - Office.com - you'd select not to import duplicates, and the subfolders should be imported if you check the box to include subfolders.

Hello - I have OUtlook 2007. I recently installed the full version after having the trial version. With the trial version, I could save my passwords without a problem, but with the full version, it grays out the option, so I cannot even type in the Password field. I have already tried deleting the "AppData/Roaming/Protection" (not the exact path I used!) folder, and that did not help the grayed out fields. I'm up for suggestions!

I use Outlook 2010 to process several email accounts. I noticed a few days ago that a couple of the email accounts had vanished from the list. I also noticed that one still present was not sending or receiving. I tried re-entering the password and when that didn't work I deleted and re-entered the account. It tests fine but the test message never shows up in my Outlook inbox. It does show up immediately on my phone when I check my mail there.

What gives?

I am trying to get way from the nightmare of Windows Live Mail mostly due to two bugs that are still in the latest version of the program I'm trying to migrate from WLM to Outlook or into email ACCOUNTS Importing WLM2011 from Outlook 2003 2007 and I have run into a brick wall on importing Importing email ACCOUNTS from WLM2011 into Outlook 2003 or 2007 my email accounts Microsoft has extensive help pages on migrating TO Windows Live Mail but apparently they do't think anyone would ever want to go FROM Windows Live Mail There is a good article at Migrate from Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail to Outlook HowTo-Outlook which covers migrating the messages and contacts but no one seems to have found any way to get your account data from WLM into Outlook WLM will export the account data as iaf files just like Outlook Express did but Outlook doesn't recognize the iaf files I found a couple of old Outlook help pages that talk about importing IAF files but the procedure shown does not work because Outlook doesn't ever give you any chance to tell it where to look for the IAF files it just says quot No internet accounts were found to import quot

Let me begin by saying this WAS working but is no longer Years Exchange permits accounts address Outlook and longer email app no same with my Mail ago I created a Microsoft Account I used my primary email address at my personal domain Some time later I learned about the Office Hosted Exchange plans These met my needs perfectly I Mail app no longer permits my Exchange and Outlook accounts with same email address moved my email address to the hosted plan For some time this tripped MS up though I now had two accounts with Microsoft that used the same email address But they seem to have eventually figured things out and for the last couple years it's been no trouble to set up both accounts on my Lumia or Surface using the Mail app This week I needed to reset the Mail app on my Surface Inexplicably I'm no longer able to set up both my Outlook com account Microsoft Account and the Exchange account Trying to add the second account results in an error that says quot Account already exists There's already an account setup to use quot my email address I still have both accounts working on my Lumia and I don't dare make any changes for fear of breaking it as well The web interfaces for both accounts still work and I still get the normal promote asking if I want to sign in with my personal Microsoft account or my work school Exchange account Can anyone shed some light on why this is suddenly broken again after years and what I can do to once again configure BOTH my accounts in the Mail app Thanks

I currently am operating ACER laptop and running windows XP.

I've got a hotmail account which is accessible through Outlook, and runs completely fine. I have a private domain email address that is linked to my hotmail account, so both emails to both addresses are recieved in the same inbox - but i want the private domain to be what is viewed as the 'from adress' through outlook?

when i use outlook the 'from' address is my hotmail one.

and when i use hotmail the 'from' address is from my 'private domain' on behalf of 'hotmail address'

I want the private domain set up in outlook, but cant find the options to have that, and link it to the already set up hotmail account.

I run Outlook 2007 Academic version, and mircosoft outlook connector.

I used Zinstall to move all my files/programs from my old computer to my new one in the last few days. I also upgraded the new one from 8.1 to Win10 after the migration. Knowing Win10 doesn't work with MSOffice2007, I subscribed to MSOffice365 in the new computer. Now, Outlook 2013 doesn't show the same folders I had in Outlook 2007, and I need to know where all my saved files went and how to import them to this system. (They are still sitting in my old computer, if I have to copy them to a zip drive & move them again.)

I am so confused about where outlook 2013 keeps things.

I have installed Outlook 2013 and would like to import my contacts from my outlook 2007 in another computer. I have already prepared the contacts.pst file from outlook 2007 and made it available in my public folders. I then imported the .pst file into Outlook 2013 via network. However the contacts shows up as a separate contact list rather than integrated into the outlook 2013 address book . How to correct it?

I must have got the process wrong.

I have a Dell Inspiron running Window Pro I had been using Outlook for about a month with no problems when I got a message saying my OUTLOOK PST file was approaching maximum size of Gb However I could not open it to compact it or delete items to bring the size down I just kept getting the quot approaching maximum size quot error Outlook was NOT asking for a password for my mail server It's specifically asking for a PW to open OUTLOOK PST So I opened the OUTLOOK PST file in Outlook successfully did some housekeeping and reduced the size to about Mb However when I tried to open the PST in Outlook again I was prompted for a password to open the PST I tried my MS Account PW and several other PWs but none worked I never set a PW for the OUTLOOK PST in the first place I was never prompted for a PW before the quot max size quot error came up I am able to open the file in Outlook without being prompted for a PW but every time I try to open it in OL I get the PW prompt I have also run the SCANPST EXE utility on the OUTLOOK PST file but that has not changed the PW prompt Any suggestions would be appreciated Ken

I am stuck in Outlook. I cannot do anything in there at all, I have no idea what is going on. Never had this problem before....can someone please proffer a solution please? Computer & Monitor are new as of July 2016,Tower came with WIN 10 installed.

I am still using Outlook Express on a Win XP laptop but I have now bought a new Win 8.1 laptop and installed Outlook 2013 (which is working OK)

I am looking for the most fool proof way of moving literally tens of thousands of emails onto the new machine. This needs to be done with total 100% accuracy because these emails are fundamental to my business and go back to the last century! Some may be needed as evidence in court so accuracy is extremely important

Obviously I will keep the old machine just in case ...

In total there is at least 10Gb of data to transfer and about 2,000 email addresses

I can't open any messages, opened or unopened. I have tried "repairing" Office 2013--both the quick and full repair--to no avail. 
I can send email I can open my email on my phone. And I can use Outlook Web Access to access a Microsoft account.

But I can't open it on my computer. Using Windows 8.1 HELP!!!

Hi there Unless you have an ACTIVE Internet connection or other Network Mail Server connection such 2013 2013 set to --OUTLOOK connection Internet Office requires up as Exchange you will NOT be able to set up OUTLOOK Outlook requires and there is no option unlike in Outlook to disable it by unchecking a box a TEST email to be sent and working before your account s can be configured-- Once it's done you don't have to be online but if you need to set up several accounts and you don't have a working internet connection -- Tough luck Why on earth did Ms do this --it's not necessary and it is a Hassle for some people who are on the road have purchased Office and want to set it up Office 2013 --OUTLOOK 2013 requires Internet connection to set up instead of having to wait Office 2013 --OUTLOOK 2013 requires Internet connection to set up until they get home Also a hassle if they want to prepare company laptop computers with email parameters in advance of the new Exchange email servers being rolled out to the users Even if your work policy has mechanisms where the USER can configure the email connections themselves they won't be able to set it up until the Servers are actually in place so you can't set the accounts up in advance The box I've shown here is from Outlook In Outlook the option is filled in and greyed out so you can't change it BTW I prefer and use Office myself but was trying to help a colleague to set up Office Cheers jimbo

Of course you can uncheck the Test email box. It has been so in all Outlook versions, is still so in Outlook 2013.

The option is grayed out exactly as long as the NEXT button is grayed out i.e. as long as they could not be used due missing credentials, until the setup has all relevant information for an email account to work (email address, incoming and outgoing servers, username and password). When you have filled the needed credentials, both the Test box and NEXT button become visible and can be clicked / selected.

Although I could well understand that setting up an email account, which in any case needs a working connection, would require an existing connection, this is not the case with Outlook 2013. You can set your email accounts up while sitting in a pub in Brussels watching Premier League Football without Internet connection if you want to .

HI Guys, tried uninstalling office 2010 to open Outlook 2013 when I got the two following errors:

1: The resource that you are trying to use is located on an unsupported version of Microsoft exchange. Contact your email administrator for assistance.

2: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Your Microsoft exchange administrator has blocked the version of Outlook that you are using. Contact your administrator for assistance.
Does anyone know what these two errors are referring to and how I can fix it so I can start using Outlook 2013?

Just need some help with outlook.com.
I have synced outlook.com with my desktop outlook 2013. In my outlook 2013 I have archive folders set up so when a email comes in via outlook 2013 I drop it into the correct archive folder. I have noticed that these emails disappear from outlook.com and wonder where they are stored on outlook.com and is there a way to retrieve them via outlook.com. Note: I have not set up any archive folders on outlook.com.

Hi,

They might be getting downloaded to your computer since you synced the two together and then deleted off your Outlook account. I haven't done that with any accounts in a while, because I just didn't want all that stuff taking up space on my hard drive. I could be wrong, but it seems a possibility.
