Windows 8 Bypass Modern UI

Q: Windows 8 Bypass Modern UI

In Windows Microsoft has prohibited the user to log on straight to the Windows Desktop through a system licensing policy Due to this policy you always have to start with the Modern UI If you re a power-user or you just want choice you should be able to boot your system straight to the desktop I m not against the Modern UI and I have no problem with the start screen but I m pretty sure I and many others don t need it Modern Bypass 8 Windows UI right from the beginning of a session It is also Windows 8 Bypass Modern UI annoying to use Windows 8 Bypass Modern UI some of the current solutions out there as all they do is skip this screen on every sign-in but this results in showing the start screen for a split second which can be a very jarring experience for the user After a lot of work and research I finally think I found a native way and maybe the cleanest solution to bypass Modern UI during sign-in Therefore I wrote an application to skip this behavior Modern UI is not disabled It all works only the sign-in behavior is affected Source A Guy

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

"Modern UI"? Is that what they're calling it now? LOL. It's actually the "Atavistic UI", because its full-screen, modal program launcher is reminiscent of running Hotwire on my Atari ST circa 1988, except Hotwire didn't have anything as stupid as Windows 8's "4 Corners". And while I haven't read the article, bypassing the login to the "Modern UI" doesn't mean you never have to work with it. After installing programs, to pin programs to the taskbar, I would have to use the "Modern UI" or open the Start menu folders, which Microsoft has made hard to get to as a side-effect of getting rid of the Start Menu and its menu with "Open" and "Open All Users" commands for the "All Programs" menu item. My advice for people who recognize the ridiculousness of the "Modern UI" is to stick with Windows 7. Why spend money on a non-upgrade and then have to run various hacks to get it to a usable state? And then spend even more money to get Windows Media Center back, a part of Windows essential to anyone using CableCard, a part that hasn't even seen bug fixes much less improvements? Just because they're not thinking doesn't mean you have to stop.

Hello guys, i got a BSOD, got it many times in a row, i think it's my ATI drivers, but i'm not sure, could you check it and tell me how to fix?

It's just restarting after a while of playing, after that it's turning on telling me that windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown, after it dumped all of the memory i can't turn it on for like 10 minutes, if i try to turn it on then it imediately turns off again. After waiting ~10 minutes it can be turned on again.

My Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Intel Pentium Processor T4400(2.2 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650

It's a laptop, Acer Aspire 5738ZG to be exact.

There's an OEM for it for $100 on eBay. (AUD, 72.91 USD) I don't have a paid OS yet (Win10 IP, planning on Linux Mint) I'd like a retail copy of 7 at some point, so I've always got a transferable licence for future systems.
Basically the plan is to have Windows 7 retail dual-booting with XP x64.
But I don't want to waste $100 on XP64 if it's not any good. I love XP, and to be able to use it with a 64-bit CPU and 8 GB RAM is enough to make me want to buy this. I'm just not sure if there will be any major problems with the OS that make it no better than the 32-bit version. (I know of the little glitches already)
So basically, is XP64 worth buying at $100?

A:Windows XP x64 on modern PC

IMO XP is not worth $100 plus it is no longer supported by MS so no updates leaving it vulnerable, I would move to 7 which has support until 2020.  That will give you time to think out your next step, 7 can be bought for about the same $$.

Hi all

Also there are some apps I want to use too like Clouder! and Tunein radio. when I start those apps it opens but I can't play anything. I've upgraded all my drivers, I tried the windows 8 troubleshooting, and I did a command in CMD forgot witch line it was.. something like SMC or something. I'm out of solutions. Please help me out! I have a HP Pavilion G6 2004SD notebook pc with Windows 8.1 Pro N on it.

Firefox 46 works fine on my XP system. I have my "era appropriate" Lexmark Z816 Printer connected to that system. If the browser can't print it is probably better to copy paste to a word document and print that way, which is better in general since you can print only specifically what you want. On an older system that is no longer receiving security updates it is likely a good idea to keep the browser as up to date as possible.,156122.0.html

I find when there is a pending update to the modern windows apps they won't work correctly. Then navigate to store and generally can see an update waiting. It then updates and seems to work fine. I've had it before where photos or calculator flash on screen and then disappear. I then see the updates are lurking. So basically a looming update seems to break functionality until you actually go and update.

Hello all,
We have some workstations running Windows 8 that we would like to get upgraded to 8.1. We originally deployed Windows 8 using a customized image with all the Modern UI apps removed, e.g. Mail, Calendar, People, Maps, News, Food & Drink, Health &
Fitness, Reading List, etc. I've run the upgrade on a test machine using "Setup.exe /auto:upgrade" as documented at and it works; however, all the Modern UI apps are re-installed.
Is there a way to perform this upgrade without all the apps installing, or, at the very least, not have the icons appear on the user's Start menu?

Hi I was given these instructions from another forum to show me how to remove unwanted apps from my computer. Problem seems to stem from the fact that I am unable to replicate a certain "caret" into the command, for example: "Get-AppXPackage -User <username> |  Remove-AppxPackage". I highlighted the caret in red that I mean. It says to open Powershell and at then "Type the following command to remove all Modern apps from the system account", but I tried this but because I cannot put in the " | " in the command it only opens another command beginning, for instance:

Hi, could you boot into Safe Mode? If you can, you will be able to go into the default Adminstrator account. Go in there and delete that old account and create a new one for yourself.

To disable the windows login screen, take a look at this site for information on how to remove it.

So my question for you is, with only access to the guest account, is there any way I can get around the password on the main account and be able to modify the accounts so that the previous owner's files are not passed on to the next coustomer.

And I'm also hoping for a solution that will allow me to get it done without something like a complete whipe and reinstall of windows

Does anyone know of a way to bypass a windows 8 password yet? I'm more interested in bypassing a local password than a M$ account password. I have had people come to me with computers that they have forgotten the password before, and on XP I've had a bootable disk to remove the password. I was curious to know if there had been any information on a similar program for Windows 8.
I'm not trying to perform anything malicious or steal computers. Thanks! Brodie

Is it possible to change the bypass key to something other than the Shift key in Windows NT?

A:Changing the bypass key in Windows NT

Not that I have seen. I think this is one of those things that is going to be either deeply buried in the registry, or that is hardwired into the OS.

You can tell Windows to not use the shift key at all by editing the registry.

Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Add a string value (REG_SZ) of IgnoreShiftOverride

Set the value to 1.

Unfortunately before it arrived, I accidently unplugged the computer as it was booting and now the system is stuck in the "Windows Resume Loader" screen. Neither the new keyboard, nor the old keyboard work to select an option to proceed past "Windows Resume Loader." I have tried a usb keyboard as well, without success.

Of course, i cannot boot in safe mode either since I cannot press f8 since the keyboard is broken.

On my windows 8 pro machine windows keeps wanting to run the automatic repair upon boot. It always fails and I know as a matter of fact that there is nothing wrong with it. How can you disable, bypass, or permanently remove this "feature"?

A:Disable/Bypass Windows 8 Automatic Repair

As Robert has just mentioned, you can fix that by disabling the Automatic Repair feature right in Boot Configuration Database, here is how:
1. Press WindowsKey and type 'cmd' (without quotes), then hit Enter holding Ctrl+Shift pressed.
2. Confirm elevation for the Command Prompt application.
3. At the elevated command prompt type the following and hit Enter when you are done:
bcdedit /set {current} recoveryenabled No
This command will modify the boot entry that has been used to boot your current Windows 8 configuration and turn off Automatic Repair feature for this boot entry.
Now that when booting Windows 8, you will always have Automatic Repair disabled.
you can craft a separate boot entry that will have the Automatic Repair turned off.
1. At the elevated command prompt type:
bcdedit /copy {default} /d "No Automatic Repair"
This command will copy the default Windows installation entry used to boot Windows automatically. Typically this is your current Windows installation, however, if you have multiple Windows installations and want to modify currently booted Windows which is
NOT the Windows installation booted by defeault, use this command:
bcdedit /copy {current} /d "No Automatic Repair"
NOTE: Everything that goes in quotes after the /d switch would be a text used to name the newly created boot entry, the one you'll see in the boot menu after the POST screen.
Now write down the GUID returned by either of the two bcdedit commands.
2. Configure the newly created boot entry and modify its recoveryenabled option:
bcdedit /set {GUID_YOUVE_MEMORIZED_OR_WROTE_DOWN} recoveryenabled No
Specify the GUID string returned by the bcdedit command above instead of the {GUID_YOUVE_MEMORIZED_OR_WROTE_DOWN} placeholder like:
bcdedit /set {de686ca2-e0c7-437e-b8d9-618bc5aad674} recoveryenabled No
WARNING: if you ever wanted to turn Automatic Repair on in the future, just use the following command:
bcdedit /set {de686ca2-e0c7-437e-b8d9-618bc5aad674} recoveryenabled Yes
3. List the Boot Configuration Database to display all the available boot entries, the ones you'll see when you boot your PC next time by typing:
C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /enum /v
Locate the recoveryenabled option under the Windows Boot Loader list for the boot entry with the identifier option set to the GUID on your newly created boot entry (the {de686ca2-e0c7-437e-b8d9-618bc5aad674} one in the example above).
You will have a display like (this is just an example, your output will have different GUIDs):
C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /enum /v

I have a bunch of Windows 7 computers at an office that all use a Radeon X1300. That card is preventing upgrades to Windows 10 now because it's apparently "not compatible" with Windows 10.

Testing one of the systems, I simply removed the X1300 card, put in a newer card, did the Windows 10 upgrade, put the X1300 back in, and then manually installed the newest available Windows 7 driver. Everything works great.

Rather than having to swap out each card in each system just to do the upgrade, is there any way I can simply bypass the compatibility check instead? Especially since I know the card will work just fine... These computers are just for basic web browsing and word processing anyway.

I am running a Windows XP computer, and like many others, I am having trouble with the installation of certain Net. Framework files using Windows Automatic Updates.

Specifically how can I "tell" the Windows Automatic Updates feature to not list certain Net.Framework files for installation (ones that will not properly install) while Windows Updates continues to function normally with respect to other files? Or to put it another way, is there a way to temporarily list certain files for Windows Updates to ignore, until the problem with those Net. Framework files is fixed?

A:How get Automatic Windows Update to bypass certain files?

go to control panel/windows updates and change the settings to notify me but don't automatically download and install them, click apply, then you can do a custom install whenever you get updates, leaving out the ones you don't want.

I have a Portege P2010 laptop with no floppy or cd drive.
Please can someone tell me how to reinstall windows or bypass the ctrl alt delete password on start up because I can?t find a way..

A:How to bypass password or reinstall windows on Portege 2010?

You mean you want to bypass the admin password?
I doubt this is possible? I didn?t find a way to remove such password if it?s not known to you?

However, the new OS installation can be done without the CD/DVD drive?
You can copy the i386 folder from the Win XP CD to the HDD.
Then you should access this folder on the HDD and have to execute the winnt.exe in order to start the Win XP setup procedure?

I managed to forget my login password for my account so I can't bypass login now. Is there any way so I can restore my password? My account has admin rights.

A:Windows Vista login password lost - How to bypass?

There are many ways to "restore" a lost windows password... But I guess you are not involved in that stuff so it is pretty hard to explain it. Takes plenty of time. You have sensible data on your account? Otherwise I would advice you to reinstall windows. If you have sensible data you could try to take your harddisk to another computer and make an account on that which has the same name like yours now. You might be successful to copy your data then.

Windows Vista x64 decided to implement a 'security measure' by which all drivers must be 'digitally signed' to be allowed to install and run. I have a program which is compatible with Vista and x64 bit operating systems, however as its drivers are not digitally signed I cannot run it correctly - I recieve the message 'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' and access to the driver is blocked.

Is there a method of bypassing this?

A:'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' - How can I bypass this?

When you boot your system hit F8 and you can bypass it there. You will have to do this every boot. There are a couple applications out there that will do this for you but the names escape me right now.

Less than a month after disclosing a Windows User Account Control bypass, researcher Matt Nelson today published another attack
that circumvents the security feature and leaves no traces on the hard disk.
This time, the bypass relies on Event Viewer (eventvwr.exe), a native Windows feature used to view event logs locally or remotely.
Nelson said he figured out a way to use eventvwr to hijack a registry process, start powershell and execute commands on Windows
machines; he collaborated with fellow researcher Matt Graeber on a proof-of-concept exploit, which was tested against Windows 7
and 10. A report published today by Nelson said it would work against any version of the OS that implements UAC.

IDG News Service - The Windows Secure Boot mechanism can be bypassed on PCs from certain manufacturers because of oversights in how those vendors implemented the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface UEFI specification according to a team of security researchers The researchers Andrew Furtak Oleksandr Bazhaniuk and Yuriy Bulygin demonstrated Wednesday at the Black Hat USA Secure exploits demo Windows 8 that bypass Researchers Boot security conference in Las Vegas two attacks that bypassed Secure Boot in order to install a UEFI bootkit -- boot rootkit -- on affected computers Secure Boot is a feature of the UEFI specification that only allows software components with trusted digital signatures to be loaded during the boot sequence It was designed specifically to prevent malware like bootkits from compromising the boot process According to Researchers demo exploits that bypass Windows 8 Secure Boot the researchers the exploits demonstrated at Black Hat are possible not because of vulnerabilities in Secure Boot itself but because of UEFI implementation errors made by platform vendors The first exploit works because certain vendors do not properly protect their firmware allowing an attacker to modify the code responsible for enforcing Secure Boot said Bulygin who works at McAfee The exploit is designed to modify the platform key -- the root key at the core of all Secure Boot signature checks -- but in order to work it needs to be executed in kernel mode the most privileged part of the operating system This somewhat limits the attack because a remote attacker would first have to find a way to execute code in kernel mode on the targeted computer The researchers demonstrated their kernel-mode exploit on an Asus VivoBook Q E laptop but some Asus desktop motherboards are also affected according to Bulygin Asus released BIOS updates for some motherboards but not for the VivoBook laptop the researcher said He believes that more VivoBook models might be vulnerable Asus did not respond to a request for comment sent Thursday The second exploit demonstrated by the researchers can run in user mode which means that an attacker would only need to gain code execution rights on the system by exploiting a vulnerability in a regular application like Java Adobe Flash Microsoft Office or others The researchers declined to reveal any technical details about the second exploit or to name the vendors whose products are affected by it because the targeted vulnerability was discovered recently The issue that makes the kernel-mode exploit possible was discovered and reported to the affected platform vendors over a year ago Bulygin said At some point after enough time has passed the public needs to know about it he said Several other issues that can be used to bypass Secure Boot have also been identified and their disclosure is being coordinated with Microsoft and the UEFI Forum the industry standard body that manages the UEFI specification Bulygin said quot Microsoft is working with partners to help ensure that secure boot delivers a great security experience for our customers quot Microsoft said Thursday in an emailed statement https www networkworld com news -researchers-demo-exploits-that-bypass- html page nbsp

Google has built an app for the new Microsoft Windows 8 operating system that lets users tap an app to access its services rather than obtaining them through a Web browser.

Unlike previous versions of Windows where you are taken to desktop at system startup, Windows 8 welcomes you with Metro Start Screen, providing quick access to applications and system shortcuts, pinned programs, and so on. Apparently, Windows 8 doesn?t allow users to bring the classic Windows Startup behavior back. If you don?t want to click the Desktop metro tile every time after logging into Windows, here?s how to bypass Metro Start Screen and jump to desktop directly.

My modern apps no longer will run in my windows 8.1 Pro laptop.
The two that I use are Microsoft Solitaire Collection and the Weather app.
I don't want to uninstall and reinstall them (also for the umteenth time), because I DO NOT want to lose my Solitaire collection stats, 500 wins out of 500 plays in Freecell.
What to do!
I know it's just a stupid game, but, still, there should be some way to fix this without having to uninstall and reinstall, again!
Or, if there is a way to preserve the stats in an uninstall/reinstall scenario, that would work for me.  In the past, the stats get reset in an uninstall/reinstall of Microsoft Solitaire Collection.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

A:My "Modern" Apps have stopped running for the umteenth time in my Windows 8.1 Pro

The answer turns out to be quite simple.  When I added the "Authenticated Users" user in the security tab for my Users folder, and propagated the changes down through the directory tree, any folder that had the ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES (or
some other metro based user account) user got hosed.  (The ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES user got dropped).
This, combined with the fact that, I guess, the metro apps run under some user other than the logged in user or depend on a software component that does the same, AND that when folder access is denied to the metro app, the program just closes with no error
message, created the problem.
I understand that the metro app programmers are just too cool to need to bother with such error popups ...
Once ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES is added, the metro apps start working again!
