Preferred Solution: bsod crash while playing games

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Your dumpfiles can be divided in 2 groups.
3 Dumpfiles blames Probably caused by memory corruption

Please check your memory with memtest 86+ for faults.
Tutorial Memtest86+ and download

The other dumpfiles all are related in some way to your graphics/video.
Probably caused by : atikmdag.sys ( atikmdag+121223 )
PROCESS_NAME: CLMSServerPDVD
Probably caused by : dxgmms1.sys ( dxgmms1!VIDMM_GLOBAL::PrepareDmaBuffer+19357

You have already the videocard drivers from april 2014 and you installed another videocard.
But to exclude that you have a faulty videocard you could run Prime95.

Many of your gamingdevices have older drivers:
Creative Headset drivers from 2008. Please update to windows 8.1 compatible drivers.
Logitech mouse and keyboard or logitech? drivers from 2009. Please update to windows 8.1 compatible drivers
The drivers of PowerDVD are from 2011. Is your version compatible with windows 8.1. Upgrade?

Please also update your networkcards to windows 8.1 compatible drivers.

Drive: C:
Free Space: 1.3 GB
Total Space: 122.1 GB
File System: NTFS

You have only 1.3 gb free space on your Systemdisk free, (less than 2%), windows needs around 15% free space to run the system in a proper way. Please make more space on your C:drive.

Hi. I've recently been trying to play Metal Gear Solid 5 but every time I boot it up my PC either crashes as soon as the splash screens are done or after a few minutes. It's been crashing while playing other games as well but it's been much rarer. It's not a BSOD crash and it doesn't produce any crash dumps so I'm leaning towards it being a problem with either the PSU, the motherboard or one of the graphics cards. Any help with finding the cause of this would be appreciated.

The PSU model is fd-psu-newt2-800, the graphics cards are both Nvidia GTX760s and the motherboard is a ASUS Sabertooth Z77

Recently my computer has begun to crash in the middle of games (Counter strike and League of Legends). The crash happens abruptly while playing, the screen tears the image completely where nothing on the screen is now identifiable, just shreds of the image/colors/pixels. The PC then stops all tasks and continues to run with the frozen image on the screen with no sound or anything running. I have to hard reset and hold the power button. The computer runs fine right after, a slow boot up at most. I know my CMOS battery is dying due to the clock on my computer losing time. Is could that be a problem linked to this?

I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Just got a new PC and I'm experiencing BSODs while playing games (generally high end games). Sometimes there is no BSOD and the game just crashes, or the GPU driver stops responding and recovers.
I tried everything I thought of, that is clean install of GPU drivers, updated all other drivers and even a Windows format, but the problem still persists. Attached please find the latest dump files and a DxDiag system specs file.

Thanks

Can you return the PC to who you bought it from to be fixed? A Windows Defender file is being flagged as a problem. Are you running another 3rd party antivirus program?

Issues started not long ago when I purchased a new gtx 750 ti graphics card. Get varied Bsod error messages such as video_tdr_failure nvlddmkm.sys, and DPC_Watchdog_violation as well as one or two others. These issues present themselves upon starting of certain games. Specifically first person shooters but is rarely a problem for my most played game League of Legends. Very easily replicate-able as it happens everytime i start said games. Starts out as odd stretched lines and screen disturbances (spasm like textures and light shafts in game) and then black screen with sound followed by either display kernel crash message of my video driver or complete computer shutdown.

Also included below is a DxDiag system info save file.

Both RTCORE64.sys (MSI) and asacpi.sys from 2005 and loaded in the only DMP file present.

Those need to be updated before we can do any underlying investigation.

Asacpi.sys

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Scroll down to the utilities category, then scroll down to the "atk0110 driver for windowsxp/vista/windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).

Download and install it.

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the asacpi.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (not before).

Ok here s the story I am a gamer I play some games on my computer Not a ton but a few And most of the time the games work great no story needed here However I ve noticed an odd crash that happens when I play more intense games ones that I have downloaded The games that the crash happens when I play are Mine craft Guild Wars and crash Why when games? does my computer playing Edge Of Space a beta game The only thing I can find in common with these Why does my computer crash when playing games? games is I bought them all They all had to be downloaded The all have large over worlds That s honestly it Now let me tell you what the crash itself does First the computer screen goes ALL black The monitor is still on Why does my computer crash when playing games? but the monitor light says it s sleeping and nothing I can do can wake it back up Also usually if there was any sound playing when the crash happened the sound that had just played in the last few seconds will repeat on a short loop for about - seconds before the sound stops with a dull whine No keys do anything moving the mouse does nothing turning the monitor on and off does nothing The only thing that will fix this Is holding down the power button and turning it back on or just unplugging the computer itself I highly doubt this is a virus as the games are all coming from pretty trustworthy websites and I have a Why does my computer crash when playing games? safe computer Also this crash only happens when I play these games Also something that might be very important Rune scape DOES NOT crash or if it does it happens very rarely since I don t ever remember it crashing I had to download it and it has a big over world also but the graphics are unimpressive and it was free However the graphics for mine craft and edge of space are also unimpressive and they still have the crash I ve looked around and I think it might be a overheating problem I don t think it s problem with the cards because the games DO load and work fine until the crash Also something worth noting I m not using the monitor that came with my computer It s a older model then the one that came with my computer since that one broke Is that part of it Does anyone know what s going on Can I PLEASE get some specific help nbsp

A:Why does my computer crash when playing games?

Hi and Welcome to TSG!

First of all, you have not told us what computer you have. This makes it very hard to provide any level of help for your situation. Please run the TSG System Information Utility and post the results back here in a reply. If your computer is a prebuilt system from a company such as Dell, HP etc please also provide us with the make and model #. If it is a Dell computer please also provide the service tag which will be located on a sticker on your computer. If you have made any changes to a prebuilt system please also list them (eg additional graphics card: added a GeForce 650 ti). For your situation we also need to know what PSU you have, please post the make, model # and wattage.

One possibility is that your computer is overheating as you suspected. There are a number of monitoring programs which will give you the temperature of various components in your computer. However, these can be unreliable. Unless its a program designed for your computer.

Another possibility is that you are overloading your computer and your power supply is insufficient. Please provide the voltages across the 3.3V, 5V and 12V rails. These can either be found in your BIOS or from monitoring software as mentioned above.

Generic Monitoring programs include SpeedFan, HWMonitor Pro, Pc-Wizard, Open Hardware Monitor, Real Temp and Core Temp.

As generic programs I recommend you use both SpeedFan and HWMonitor Pro. Attach screen shots of both programs to a reply. Attach two screen shots from each, one just after turning on your system from a cold boot and the other from after you have put a bit of load on your system. IF you have a game which allows you to access your desktop whilst its running, this would be the best way to apply load to your system.

Please reply including EVERYTHING asked for in this post. That includes the TSG system info results, your computer make and model if it has one along with a service tag if its Dell, your PSU make, model and wattage, if a prebuilt system list any changes you made to it since you bought it and finally the 4 screen shots asked for.

A while back, I upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 64bit.

Sense then my computer has crashed constantly while playing games. I can keep it on for hours working on Zbrush, 3ds max or photo shop, but with games I keep crashing. Sometimes its quick and vicious.Other times is slow and cruel. Letting me enjoy my favourite games for about four hours before dying before my very eyes.

I tried reformatting the computer, this did not work. I tried sending it in on service, they found nothing wrong with the hardware.

It is getting really annoying, not to mention depressing. if anyone here knows what I can do to solve this, I'd be very grateful.

hello everyone,

im getting an issue when im playing games. or any games the computer completely crash or sometimes freeze i get white screen so what to do ?

A:windows 8 crash when playing games

Lower resolution and/or graphics quality? Perhaps they are set too high for you system. I've had no issues gaming on W8 at all. Go to canirunit.com and see what it says.

Also, do you have any mods installed for that game? If so, you will have to disable/enable one at a time to determine which mod is causing the crash (at least from my experience with Skyrim)

A:System will crash when playing games

Let's first see if theirs any hardcore errors in event viewer. In order to get into event viewer click on start, control panel, admin tools, event viewer. Take a look into applications and sytem and see if their are any errors around the same time as the game crashed. This may give you a lead as to what failed when the game crashed.

Also does this happen on just one game or is it all games? It could just be a simple game patch

If you need more assistance just post back!
Good luck

I recently upgraded my PC by buying a new CPU AMD 5200+ 2.70Ghz overclocked to 3.0Ghz and all games started crashing. Here's my PC's specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte-GA69VM-S2
CPU: AMD 5200+ 2.70Ghz currently 3.00Ghz
Video Card: Galaxy GTS250 512MB GDDR3
RAM: 3x1GB Super Talent
HDD: Seagate 500GB
PSU: Fortron 400W
2xDVD-RWs
OS: Windows 7 x86

For example when I start GTA IV the PSU starts making a loud noise and after 15 min the game freezes. Not only GTA IV but Crysis,Metro 2033,Need for Speed Shift...

All temperatures are normal except the motherboard. It was stable until I bought the new CPU. The old one was AMD 4000+ 2.1Ghz
CPU:30 to 40 degrees on standby when playing maximum 60
Video Card:45 degrees on standby and up to 65 while playing
Motherboard: 45 degrees on standby and up to 67 when playing
All help would be appreciated

A:Most games crash while playing. Could this be a PSU problem?

Yes it sounds like a problem. The next thing you're going to hear is probably a "pop," if you're unlucky. Upgrade to a quality 450 watt psu or higher, asap.

A:Random crash while playing games :( win 7

Try a clean startup - Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Then a System Restore to a date prior to the issue - System Restore

If still happening:
Follow Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions
Make sure the zip file includes the dmp file/s. If not, configure a small memory dump - Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD and wait/trigger another BSOD. then re-run the "Dm log collector" and attach the new report.

Hello all,

I've been having a few problems with my laptop since I bought it. The problem mainly occurs when I'm playing a game (usually xcom: enemy unknown or deus ex HR at the moment) but has occurred when I'm browsing the internet (albeit far less often). The BSODs appear to be random but I'm using a blue tooth mouse and have noticed the BSOD will usually happened if I'm using it. I've also noticed that my laptop screen with black out for a split second on games that are quite graphics intensive for my system.

Its been frustrating me a lot so I reinstalled and fully updated windows 7. The GPU drivers are all up to date also.

I've attached the SF file that is required and would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks for your time

You may want to install your AMD drivers without the Catalyst Control Center/Vision Engine Control Center software. Download the version of AMD drivers that you want to install, and then do the following steps.Start the installation program to install your drivers and AMD software. When you get to the option to Express/Custom install, cancel the installation. Your drivers should now exist in C:\AMD\Support\xx-x_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc where the x's replace your version number of the driver software.
Uninstall all AMD software related to your graphics card by uninstalling AMD Catalyst Install Manager in Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program
If AMD Catalyst Install Manager is not listed, use the following method to uninstall the graphics drivers:Click Start Menu
Right Click My Computer/Computer
Click Manage
Click Device Manager from the list on the left
Expand Display adapters
Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)Right click the adapter
Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK

Alternatively:Login as an adminstrative user
Click Start Menu
Click Control Panel
Click Hardware and Sound
Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
Expand Display adapters
Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)Right click the adapter
Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
Restart your computer.
Re-install your drivers from the C:\AMD\Support\xx-x_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc folder. See You cannot install a device driver by using its installation program in Windows Vista and scroll down for steps to manually install the driver.

As the title says, I occasionally get ntoskrnl.exe crashes randomly while playing games such as Dota 2 or Warframe, so far these are the only games it has crashed on, despite playing more demanding games such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim with mods. These crashes involve the screen turning a single solid color, not always blue, but seeming to be the color that shows up on the screen the most. I may go a month without this crash, or an hour, I can't seem to find what controls it. I've already fixed the Motion Joy driver crashing, but I can't seem locate what is causing this one. Link to the zip file requested, and please ignore the driver not less or equal crashes, as that's been fixed.

I had a desktop that was just sitting for about 2 years without use and just hooked it up to my TV to make a media center. I immediately installed Windows 7 and had a fresh slate so old software problems shouldn't be an issue. All drivers are up to date.

The problem is that whenever a game is played, it will randomly create a black screen with buzzing sound. Some games is completely random, other games crash at about the same point. Sometimes the video signal cuts out to the TV, sometimes it just stays black. Either way it needs to be manually turned off. I have checked GPU temperatures and they are about 80C under load. I have ran memtest86 and no errors on the RAM. I just don't know what else it could be.

The specs are:

Intel Core 2 3000MHz
2x2GB Corsair DDR2-400
ATI 4850
OCZ 500W Power Supply

I have a very serious issue with my brand new Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 GT 650M SLI system (specs at the bottom) . I can't play games at all because my system will lock up as soon as I enter the game, requiring a hard reset. My Windows Action Center is filled with Video Hardware Error reports. Is this because of a bad video card or is it a driver/software issue? I am on a clean install of Windows 8 Pro and have already tried the 314.22 WHQL and 320.00 BETA drivers. Nothing is overclocked.

A:Crash and video hardware error when playing games

Youre using the 314.22 now were you using the 314.07 previously? Ive read that a few people have had the same problem with the Idealpad and the 650 series graphics card. They resorted to the 310.90 drivers and said their problems are gone.. Wanna give that a shot?

Stop 0x124 is a hardware error

If you are overclocking try resetting your processor to standard settings and see if that helps.

If you continue to get BSOD here are some more things you may want to consider.

This is usually heat related, defective hardware, memory or even processor though it is"possible" that it is driver related (rare).

Quote:
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try
Synopsis:

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.
Generic "Stop 0x124" Troubleshooting Strategy:

1) Ensure that none of the hardware components are overclocked. Hardware that is driven beyond its design specifications - by overclocking - can malfunction in unpredictable ways.
2) Ensure that the machine is adequately cooled.
If there is any doubt, open up the side of the PC case (be mindful of any relevant warranty conditions!) and point a mains fan squarely at the motherboard. That will rule out most (lack of) cooling issues.
3) Update all hardware-related drivers: video, sound, RAID (if any), NIC... anything that interacts with a piece of hardware.
It is good practice to run the latest drivers anyway.
4) Update the motherboard BIOS according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Their website should provide detailed instructions as to the brand and model-specific procedure.
5) Rarely, bugs in the OS may cause "false positive" 0x124 events where the hardware wasn't complaining but Windows thought otherwise (because of the bug).
At the time of writing, Windows 7 is not known to suffer from any such defects, but it is nevertheless important to always keep Windows itself updated.

6) Attempt to (stress) test those hardware components which can be put through their paces artificially.
The most obvious examples are the RAM and HDD(s).
For the RAM, use the in-built memory diagnostics (run MDSCHED) or the 3rd-party memtest86 utility to run many hours worth of testing.
For hard drives, check whether CHKDSK /R finds any problems on the drive(s), notably "bad sectors".
Unreliable RAM, in particular, is deadly as far as software is concerned, and anything other than a 100% clear memory test result is cause for concern. Unfortunately, even a 100% clear result from the diagnostics utilities does not guarantee that the RAM is free from defects - only that none were encountered during the test passes.

7) As the last of the non-invasive troubleshooting steps, perform a "vanilla" reinstallation of Windows: just the OS itself without any additional applications, games, utilities, updates, or new drivers - NOTHING AT ALL that is not sourced from the Windows 7 disc.
Should that fail to mitigate the 0x124 problem, jump to the next steps.
If you run the "vanilla" installation long enough to convince yourself that not a single 0x124 crash has occurred, start installing updates and applications slowly, always pausing between successive additions long enough to get a feel for whether the machine is still free from 0x124 crashes.
Should the crashing resume, obviously the very last software addition(s) may be somehow linked to the root cause.
If stop 0x124 errors persist despite the steps above, and the harware is under warranty, consider returning it and requesting a replacement which does not suffer periodic MCE events.
Be aware that attempting the subsequent harware troubleshooting steps may, in some cases, void your warranty:

8) Clean and carefully remove any dust from the inside of the machine.
Reseat all connectors and memory modules.
Use a can of compressed air to clean out the RAM DIMM sockets as much as possible.

9) If all else fails, start removing items of hardware one-by-one in the hope... Read more

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try: Stop 124 - What it means and what to try

Hello

I've been experiencing the same crash repeatedly now, while playing any game(it's happened so far in Rainbow Six Siege, Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3) my screen will randomly lock up and there's always a loud EEEEEEEEEEEEE sound until I shut the PC off manually with the power button.

I've tried checking the event logs and there doesn't seem to be anything in there when the lock happens and the PC is completely unresponsive during the lock.

DM Log attached.

DESKTOP-81TOIO5-Fri_12_04_2015_214545_73.zip

A:Hard lock, loud noise crash while playing games.

I am having the exact same problem. Tropico 5, Prison Architect, Battle Field, Guild Wars 2 at this point.

20 minutes or so in and It freezes. The only relevant error is the critical error in the logs related to the hard reboot. I have an AMD 7790. From what I can tell it worked fine before I upgraded to Win10 but I don't want to say that for sure was the cause because I was really busy with work for 6 months and did not play any games during that time (March through August).

I have:

1) reinstalled windows 10
2) ran Fur Mark for 8 hours (no crash)
3) Ran memtest86+ for 24 hours (no errors after 12 passes)
4)removed existing AMD drivers with DDU and installed the beta drivers
5) blown out the dust from every crevice of my PC (there wasn't that much since I have filters)
6) re-seated my GPU
7) scanned for malware with malwarebytes
8)cleaned my registry with CC Cleaner

The only thing that I have not done is adjust my timeout settings in the registry because I have not seen anywhere that doing so would solve this problem on Windows 10 (seems to be a vista/7 solution)

My last resort will be to buy an Nvidia GPU and hope that there are no issues.

A:Black screen crash and sound loop while playing games

If that +12v rail voltage is accurate then that would definately be a problem. Check the voltage in the BIOS as it could be a simple case of HWMonitor not reading the sensor output correctly.

Can you give us a DXDiag report.

Click Start and type "dxdiag" (without the quotes) in the Run box.

When the dxdiag window opens click the Save All Information button and save the text file to your desktop or another location so you know where it is.

Then copy and paste the entire content of that text file into a reply here.

About 7 months ago, i had to RMA a graphics card cause it kept causing BSOD's. The graphics card I had received from EVGA seemed to be dead on arrival so I RMA'd that one as well. The next one(my current graphics card) worked for about 6 months. About a couple days ago it started to get intense artifacting then the display driver will crash receiving the typical message of "display driver crashed due to taking to long to respond"- but it mostly crashes playing mildly graphic intensive games, sometimes i get crashes just being on the desktop, but it's rare
So far i have tried

Hello guys So here is my issue i dont really know how to specific it further then this still hope it will help I have been getting BSOD for a flash playing When BSOD player. playing games and while now and it's getting to the point BSOD When playing games and playing flash player. i cant do a single thing on the computer I did the config for dumps and so on and ended up with this RAR file with all the info i assume I mostly get the bluescreen when i try to watch anime etc on googlechrome It never BSOD When playing games and playing flash player. works it's a matter of seconds before the BSOD comes But when watching it on other browsers like opera it works just fine quot mostly quot even there it bluescreens from time to time And then there is when it's most fatal Playing onlinegames Whenever I play online games like World of warcraft League BSOD When playing games and playing flash player. of Legends Heroes of Neweart etc etc etc i risk getting bluescreens It differs very much from game to game how often the bluescreens appear and it seems to not be preformance related since sometimes i play constantly for hours when maxing out games and pushing the computer to it's limits when it comes to frames And still the bluescreen lies in dorment waiting for a more suitable interrupt for me From the looks of it the bluescreen is related mostly to my operatingsystem more then commponents after i looked at the dumpfiles via quot Bluescreenviewer quot I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this and i hope you guys can help me with this also this is my first post so I maybe did this typical quot bad thread quot Still i hope this will get me atleast closer to the solution of this current hell of bluescreens

Hi Guys,

I have issues with my desktop. I randomly get the bsod (kernel data inpage error). I thought it started after I installes the new ATI drivers. So I tried older drivers but without any result. After that I thought it was an issues with Win 7 64bit. So I installed 32bit. But still I get the bsdod.

can you please help?

Win 7 32 bit
oem original
hardware about two years old.
I have a new installed os.The old one started giving trouble after 2 years.

A:BSOD randomly after playing games or playing movies )

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

You have an 802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card. Win7 doesn't like these devices. They will rapidly spit out BSOD's if using Vista-era drivers. Here's my rant about these devices:

Quote:
I do not recommend using wireless USB devices. Especially in Win7 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 - and using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.

Quote:
Please uninstall all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download and install a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

STOP 0x7A specifically refers to a problem with a missing Service Pack ( BSOD Index )
The c000009d parameter means DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED
And the memory dump suggests that there might be a hardware problem with the hard drive.
Just to be sure, please run this free hard drive diagnostic: Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Microsoft Security Essentials dynamic driver showed up in the memory dump. I'd suggest:
- downloading a fresh copy
- uninstalling the current copy
- installing the freshly downloaded copy and IMMEDIATELY updating it
- perform a full system scan.

Hello, first time poster looking for help as I can't diagnose my issue after trying numerous things. Currently when I play a game the BSOD happens randomly, I can go a whole day without it, or it can happen frequently. It happens the most when I close or exit a game, then it'll kick to a blue screen.

I really appreciate what you guys do and I hope I followed all the instructions right on how to post my logs and stuff, here's the attachment and some basic system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have reinstalled to this computer numerous times.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad q9550 @ 2.83 ghz

GPU: Radeon HD 5770

Mem: 4 Gigs of Memory

Motherboard: p5n32-e sli nforce 680i chipset

A:BSOD Playing various games, closing games, no overheating.

Before we can even begin to find the underlying cause you need to update the following drivers. Especially asacpi.sys. Yours is from 2005

Code:
ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 10:30:36 PM
Lycosa.sys 1/18/2008 4:51:42 AM
nvm62x64.sys 10/17/2008 5:01:06 PM
netr28x.sys 2/25/2009 11:02:09 PM
How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference

Hello So first of all I am not a computer wizard Some terms I might not understand as i've never had a problem like this before but i'll try to enlist as much information as possible Since last friday or so i've suddenly encountered a BSOD Now i've had them before and it was only once After a reboot it usually never happend again and everything was cool But since friday they popped up again Mainly during playing Battlefield but i've also had it happen during Dragon Ball Xenoverse I've had multiple BSOD errors which are - IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL - BAD POOL HEADER - MEMORY MANAGEMENT - SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION - APC INDEX MISMATCH Now if it were one I might've been able to pinpoint the issue but They're constantly different errors that happen Now to explain a bit more in detail how it goes So i'm just playing a match of Battlefield After minutes give or take it'll bring me to the multiple inside listed BSOD so playing games, far errors, BSOD 5 blue screen After processing whatever it has to process computer shuts down and it starts to restart At this point it will be stuck in an infinite restart loop where my monitor will not display anything as well It just says it's not connected to something which it clearly is After manually closing and rebooting i'll have to do this a few times or mess with the HDMI a little bit before I get my monitor to pop up again Once that happens I get stuck in the beginning screen where you can see your HDD SSD installed It won't go further than that unless I hit F There have been times where I had to go into BIOS and revert it to default settings as well even though I never change a thing in there but it worked Then it reboots back up as usual Very rarely i'll get an instant BSOD when it logged in but that only happens rarely Now the solutions i've been trying - Deleted graphics drivers all of them and reinstalled them Did not work - BSOD playing games, so far 5 multiple BSOD errors, listed inside Out of frustration reinstalled Windows Did not fix anything - Brought him in to a shop The BSOD's never appeared there and seemingly there's nothing wrong within the system according to him - Went BSOD playing games, so far 5 multiple BSOD errors, listed inside to my parents house to test there since I do not have a car Played games there no BSOD I BSOD playing games, so far 5 multiple BSOD errors, listed inside got the hope that maybe it was fixed but then I returned home tried it out and after or so minutes of playing Battlefield BSOD This time it gave me the IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL amp BAD POOL HEADER errors I've even been paranoid enough to think that it might be external hardware that is causing it Like my headset or speakers or SOMETHING that was different when I brought it to the shop or when I was home at my parents house Is that even possible It's good to know that i've had my current video card since release of the GTX and it never caused any sort of problem before Here are two dump errors I cannot show the others as they occured before I reinstalled Win so I do not have those dump files anymore but here are two of the most recent ones In case system specs are needed System Spec Computer type PC Desktop OS Windows x CPU Intel Core i GHz Motherboard Alienware JNH CPU Memory GB DDR MHz Graphics Card s MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX MSI I'm pretty desperate at this moment so any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks for the read

Hello masta518.

A stop 0x116 is a graphics/display related error.

We know that the latest version of the nvidia display driver is buggy in some cases. So I would suggest you to install the 314.22 WHQL only.
Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features3D Vision Control Driver
3D Vision Driver
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
PhysX
nvidia Update
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:
Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

A:My Games Crash (Not BSOD)

Sounds like the same problem I have these days. When you reboot and it loads back into Windows, does it say 'Windows recovered from a serious error' and quote the error code 1000007f in the error report that is generated?

Are all your chipset and device drivers up to date?

Is your RAM 1, 2 or 4 sticks? Are they matched? Have you tried reseating them or running just 2gb?

Is your Windows 7 32 or 64 bit?

Post back with the full BSOD message, including the stop code and file name.

Hello,

I recently put together my first computer and everything has been going wonderfully, up until I started playing games.
The other night I was playing an online FPS and the computer suddenly crashed and I got a blue screen with an error message that dissapeared too fast for me to read.
However I've gone and attached the minidump file in my post.
The problem has returned 4 times already and I'm starting to get worried, I'm not quite sure what to do.
It only happens when I play games though, which is different from the other posts I've read...

If anyone could help me out, I'd very much appreciate it! ;3

Update ASUS ATK0110 ACPI Utility - ASUS support:

ASACPI.sys Thu Aug 12 22:52:52 2004

Update Atheros AR8121/AR8113 PCI-E Ethernet Controller:

l1e51x86.sys Wed Aug 05 01:49:35 2009

There's something I ask you to clarify, how come you have both via audio and creative labs? Perhaps removed your creative card but still having its drivers left? If so uninstall all Creative software and drivers and sweep its remnants with the Driver Sweeper:

Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

-> viahduaa.sys Tue Jun 02 04:52:36 2009 (VIA)
-> monfilt.sys Wed Jan 04 02:41:48 2006 (Creative)

Your report shows your audio is VIA, so update VIA Audio audio card driver:

viahduaa.sys Tue Jun 02 04:52:36 2009

If new crashes crashes reoccur, submit the new crash dumps for further analysis. But first be sure to follow the steps suggested above.

A:BSOD after playing games + Random BSOD on startup

Welcome

Your dumps don't have a probable cause, keep blaming windows files (Not true causes)

Since everything was fine with the laptop before the power failure, your best bet would be to dismantle and reconnect all the hardware components (if you're good with it) and do a fresh install of windows on your laptop

Fill in your specs and the make of the laptop

I was playing Skyrim and then I hit Esc to go do something and then when I came back to my PC and sat down to play again it BSOD. Its BSOD before but I fixed it by unistalling Windows 7 and reinstalling it. Its been almost a year with out a BSOD. Now its BSODing randomly and sometimes one after another within 2-20min. I replaced my RAM in the past and that helped and also my Graphics card in the past. Im thinking it might be my graphics card. I noticed they stopped making it recently so maybe they stopped with updates too. I don't know. Just want to get my PC running smooth again.

I have a 1 year old Toshiba Satellite A660:
i5-450m
Windows 7 Home premium 64bit OEM original install
4GB of ram
Geforce 330m 1GB

Recently while gaming I've been experiencing BSODs and on the blue screen it'll say something about DPC. I'm not sure what's causing this and in reliability moniter it'll usually have something about Windows failing a bugcheck a minute or so before the BSOD the bugcheck states:
The bugcheck was: 0x000000b8 (0xfffffa800a2b1b60, 0xfffff880033ddfc0, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

A:BSOD troubles seem to be while playing games - different BsOD codes

Hello, tbrown26. I will try to help you with this.

None of your dump files were overly definitive, as usual. The first thing I would like you to do is fill out your system specs in detail. Sometimes we have to look up a component and Manufacturer and model number helps us to do that.
Please fill out your System Specs

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs

After completing that please open a elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

A:BSOD Various BSOD's whlst playing games/other tasks

Hi Aviraj & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints the driver/function that caused the problem.
Let's check the stack -

Code:
7: kd> knL
# Child-SP RetAddr Call Site
00 ffffd002`01ea7970 fffff801`ae339456 nt!KxWaitForLockOwnerShip+0x12
01 ffffd002`01ea79a0 fffff801`ae2e2280 nt!MmZeroPageThread+0xc36
02 ffffd002`01ea7b80 fffff801`ae360fc6 nt!PspSystemThreadStartup+0x58
03 ffffd002`01ea7be0 00000000`00000000 nt!KiStartSystemThread+0x16

So, we see that the system was waiting to get a lock on a resource but sadly it was not fulfilled and hence the system crashed . Sadly, the dump file failed to capture the culprit in this case.

Below is a list of 3rd party drivers present on your system -

A:BSOD When playing games random Bsod messages

No Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 70 to 140 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

You have a 802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win8/8.1 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later systems - using older drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have the latest Win8/8.1 drivers - DO NOT use older drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

This device is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?

Multiple Card Reader USB Device USBSTOR\DISK&VEN_MULTIPLE&PROD_CARD__READER&REV_1.00\058F63666438&0 This device is disabled.

Please enable the device and then ensure that it's drivers are fully updated to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version. Then feel free to disable it again if you'd like.

Out of 14 memory dumps there were 8 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case. Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Please get a head start on the hardware diagnostics - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.

Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install".

Please uninstall Speedfan as it's drivers date from 2012

Beyond this I have these 4 suggestions:
1. Get ALL available Windows Updates. It may take several trips to ge... Read more

Hello,
i used the Driver Verifier, up on restarting, i instantly got a bluescreen, restarting the PC 2 times, ended up in a BOSD right bevor the log-in-screen. (Note, the BOSD was not stable, i could not read any information, as it restartet right away)
Needed to start in safemode in order to log in again.
i am not sure where to find any results of the driver verifier. How can i grab the log, and what should i do now?

A:Non-BSOD crash while playing any game

Sounds like overheating to me.
Check to make sure that:
- the cooler is firmly mounted to the CPU/GPU and has adequate thermal compound (without being excessive)
- that the cooler is clean and free of dirt/dust/hairballs/etc
- that the fan on the cooler is working properly (visually verify that the fan is working on both the CPU and GPU)
- ensure that the proper power connections are firmly connected (the power connections to the motherboard and the video card).
- that the system isn't pumping hot air into the CPU/GPU coolers.

You may want to open up the case and point a house fan (set on high) into the case - then see if that stops or delays the shutdowns.
If so, that's a clear indicator of overheating.

Event logs generally don't show clear signs of hardware caused shutdowns (such as overheating).
Rather, what we look for is a lack of a pattern just before the "unexpected shutdown" error.
Here's a link that describes that error in a bit more detail:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504
So, in short, you'll have to troubleshoot your cooling systems for both the CPU and GPU (these aren't the only things that overheat, but they are the most common).
If nothing fixes that, then we'll look at some reports - so please post back with the results of your troubleshooting.

When I'm playing games such as Empire: Total War, Starcraft 2, Shogun 2, Just Cause 2, the screen will go black/dark blue and the audio will loop, then the computer will either restart itself or I will have to hard reset it by holding down the on/off button on the front of my case. I have completely no idea as to what could be causing the problem. I have tried downloading and installing Catalyst 11.11, 11.5 and the newest 11.12. I've contacted AMD Support and their support hasn't been great, the best thing they have done is shown me how to uninstall all my drivers properly, which I have done and reinstalled the latest catalyst to no avail. I have also tried re-installing Windows, updated my BIOS to the latest version and downloaded the latest chipset driver. I'm completely stumped on what the problem could be. Sometimes I get a "The AMD Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered successfully" message. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've tried posting on other forums but have got no replies. I can attach my DxDiag and MSINFO if needed. I also did a clean re-install of Windows 7 on the 23rd.

My system specs are;

I have tried running Memtest86, I ran two tests and it came out fine. I also then tried Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool, which also came out fine with zero errors. I've also ran Furmark at 1920x1080 (FS), the scores are below in the spoiler.

Hi

I have past problems with this pc and never really got to the bottom of it. I have now just started playing SWTOR online and these blue screens are becoming very annoying.

Please could someone point me in the right dirrection in terms of clearing these up.

I have just tried a Windows 7 home Premium x64 re-install to see if that would help but i have had no luck with 3 blue screens in about 2 hours.

I just ran into a random restart while playing Dirt3. Display turned off and PC rebooted. No error reports after restart. Only Kernel-Power 41 error in Event Viewer. I just installed windows 8.1 and I thought this solved my problem with Windows 7 freezing very often randomly. Well now I don't get freezes but it's just restarts sometimes. Few people have told me that my Chieftec A80 750W could be the problem, but it's like 4 months old. It also did the restart on Windows 7 once I was playing GTA IV. Might the error report help if I find it?
Here's the SF Diagnostic Tool file.

Its not really just BSOD I guess games while BSOD playing various BSOD is a end result of the crashes I keep getting its the all too well known problem with display driver xxx stopped responding and has recovered I've been fighting with this problem ever since I got my new graphic BSOD while playing various games card detailed specs later from time to time when I play a d game doesnt have to be with really intensive graphics the screen goes black for a couple of seconds then recovers unfortunately in some games it does not recover multiple flickers like this usually BSOD while playing various games result in a BSOD The BSOD while playing various games worst thing is that its completely unpredictable and some of the newest graphic intensive games for example might not get the crash at all while others get it multiple times in a row same with some older titles Now theres a lot to say so I apologize for the quite chaotic post build P Lets start with what Ive tried in order to fix or find out whats wrong - I tried many different NVIDIA drivers very old ones like and the newest one currently I think also many in between those with no real results what sometimes seemed like a fix was just the randomness factor - I tried various different settings changes to the NVIDIA control panel which I found on the internet as theres tons of people having similar problem but theres just as many fixes - I bought a new PSU a W Thermaltake TR Bronze which supplies more than enough power - I tried different cords with no real result - I checked for viruses and I formatted and installed fresh system multiple times also with no result -I tried the registry edit thingy I think I saw it in one of the posts here which was supposed to help by making the black out time longer this actually had some effect but it wasnt a good one it just made the black outs much more common and increased the chance for a BSOD -I never overclocked this graphic card however it is stock overclocked so I tried underclocking with no result -I ran various benchmarks and stability tests ran Prime for over hours with no errors ran FurMark benchmarks without any stability issues and temperature reaching a stable C on full load Theres no overheating problems whatsoever GPU in idle is at about C and while playing doesnt go over C quite similar stats for CPU Ran Memtest aswell without any errors Thats about it if Ill remember something later ill be sure to edit it in Oh there were also some other slight fixes but it was nothing major and also had no effect This started around October last year when I bought the graphic card at that time I figured out the PSU I had back then was insufficient for the new graphic card and I hoped that the purchase of new one would fix everything however as I did get new PSU few months back it did not solve anything I thought also of testing the GPU on some other PC unfortunately everyone I know uses laptop Im writing here as a last resort before sending the GPU away on warranty which I really really dont wanna do cause the only replacement I got is a very old GF GTS that overheats C I refuse to accept it that the new graphic card I got was faulty from the start until all possibilities are exhausted Hopefully someone here will have some bright idea whats going on its either something really basic or extremely advanced and rare As for my PC specs - Windows Ultimate x quite fresh install around - months old I think - hardware's age varies oldest HDD is about years old most of the PC is - years old x gb ram stick around years old while graphics and PSU are only few months old CPU Inter Core Quad ghz RAM x gb Corsair ddr mhz and x gb Corsair ddr mhz GPU Asus ENGT GeForce GT GB DDR bit PSU Thermaltake TR W Bronze Thats about it for the important parts I guess if I missed anything or any other information needed please tell I also attached a rar file with the System Health Report and BSOD dump Im eagerly awaiting any responses with regards Netami

Read more

Counterfeit installations such as yours can contain heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSODs and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable. For this reason, many analysts won't attempt it.

My recommendation is to install a genuine Windows 7. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSODs far more reliable. Once you are running a genuine Windows 7 installation, and are still experiencing BSOD's, we will be happy to help you solve them.

I had the same problem last week when updating the grafix card drivers, I didn't do a clean install and got all sorts of problems the second I played any games. The pc would act normaly on all other applications.

Have you looked in device manager to see if you have any conflicts?

Daemon Tools is known to cause BSODs with Windows 7, and therefore it recommended you uninstall this program, many people prefer to use:MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor
Windows also has some in-built features for burning DVDs/CDs too.

Overclocking -
I recommend if you are overclocking any hardware, that you reset these values within the BIOS to their default values in order to increase the stability of your system.

Please run the following tests for your graphics card and RAM:
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Run Memtest86+ for least 7-8 passes, and preferrly overnight as it can take a while to fully complete.

Test each RAM stick individually, if an error is found then move the same RAM stick into the next DIMM slot and test again, if errors are found for the same RAM stick in every available slot then you have a faulty RAM module. On the other hand, if no errors are found in the next slot or the other slots for the same RAM module, then you have a faulty DIMM slot.

Test each RAM stick and every motherboard DIMM slot available.

Graphics Card:Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
NVIDIA/AMD Video Card - Test with OCCT
Read all the steps within the hardware test tutorials very carefully, as stress tests is designed run components to their maximum capacity, in order to point out failing or faulty hardware components.

Use the following program to monitor your hardware temperatures during the stress test:CPUID HWMonitor
Hard Drive:Disk Check
CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World
SeaTools for Windows | Seagate
Scan for corrupted or missing Windows files with:SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot
Please check for the latest driver updates for your graphics card on the manufacturer's website, and check for any driver compatibility issues with:Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows
