I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,
I am new to this forum..
To start, I had just bought an ASUS computer.. wanting to play games like borderlands 1, left for dead 2 etc. But, when I was very trilled waiting to start the games, both of them had blacked screen and forced shutdown my computer every time after the game has been launched!
I had done many researches in the net, changing the registry values in directx11, reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers (halfway black screen upon reinstalling), changing the compatibility to Windows 7, adding missing physxcudart_20 to the games...None of them works..T-T
Any help is greatly appreciated!

A:Unable to install Nvidia driver and also to play games on Windows 8.1

I'd recommend to do the following:

Perform a clean install of Windows

Re-install Nvidia drivers
Download CPU-Z and GPU-Z (or any CPU and GPU monitoring software)
Monitor both while attempting to play games - check for temperature spikes.
Doing the above will help you rule out a lot of potential issues that are causing your problems. The clean windows install will get rid of any OS related issues. You never want to touch the windows registry unless you really have to, especially if you're not very well versed in the way it works. It can cause way more harm than good. With that said, the system crashes were probably due to a bad driver instillation and was causing a BSOD - most modern systems are set to restart / shutdown when this happens. You'll never know it happened unless you changed the configuration to stop the automatic shutdown. It could also be temperature related, if your CPU or GPU overheats, it'll typically trigger a system crash as well and result in the same BSOD sequence.

Let me know how it goes after you've tried what I've mentioned.

Hi guys,
I'm planning to make an order on buy I'm still thinking: I want to buy a powerful machine for playing new big games and decided to ask someone's thoughts about it. So what would you buy for playing games: PC or Laptop?
If you choose PC: i7 4790k or i7 4930k? or another proposes?
If you choose laptop: which one?

A:What would you buy for playing games?

An i5 with a good video card. Games are GPU intensive so you'll need a video card to handle the latest games with 8 gigs of memory.

I personally play on a PC. There are those who play on a laptop. It boils down to a personal preference. if you need the mobility you go laptop. However, I can build a PC significantly cheaper.

In a strange turn of events, Nvidia elected to use Epic Games' media event (instead of its own last night) at the Game Developers Conference to reveal its newest flagship graphics card, the Titan X.

A:Nvidia crashes Epic Games' media event, announces Titan X graphics card

Soo... What are the chances of a 6GB "980Ti" variant? A bit like the 780Ti was to the Titan Black?
Because it would be better for games and a hell of a lot cheaper

If the rumor mill is to be believed, the price is going to be $1,349, Most people who buy this for gaming will have no use of the double precision floating point prowess of the card, and the few that would probably should have spent a couple hundred extra bucks to get a proper Quadro!

I'm no tech wizard by any means and I need some help. Pretty much it'll open to the load screen for a few moments then disappear back to my home screen. Any ideas on what it could be and what I can do?

Hi Guys

I have a Dell latitude ES5500 which is a recon model
It works fine and on start up I hear the fan going. (so I don't think this is the problem)
All of the airways are clear.
When the laptop first arrived I could get 4-5 mins of video or game time before it shut off, it is now down to virtually straight away.
The laptop does not feel hot to touch either and when turned back on will perform any other function ie e mails word processing database and excel etc without a problem.
I can go on facebook and read post search the internet with no problems but as soon as I try to run a video or play a game it drops straight out.
I have to hold the button down to shut the laptop off and then it will restart with no bother.
This is fairly frustrating and I was wondering if anyone had any advice/ solutions to this?

A:Laptop keeps turning off when playing video's or games

It's worth installing HWMonitor or SpeedFan to check temperatures when you are playing video. My laptop fan doesn't kick in until the GPU temperature gets to 60c and it then drops rapidly to about 50c whereas your fan is working from start up.

A:Games are losing video

(I don't own any of the games you mentioned.)

for troubleshooting purposes:
1. since this is an NVidia card, try to update driver package to 337.88 (or latest).
do normal installation of NVidia driver pack or clean installation if you want it.
GeForce experience (part of NVidia driver pack) can also download automatically any game profile for supported games.

2. launch one game at a time and select lower resolution, less game details. if the problem disappears, then the game details is set too high that the video card cannot cope up. if the problem is still there, then troubleshooting continues.

Hello everyone,

I have an Hp Pavilion that I got about 2 years ago and I do play games on it. One game in general which is League of Legends. My concern is that if anyone knows about this game during teamfights when the computer is operating extensively because of all the action going on I always frame lag. My frames drop only during fights. When nothing is happening my frames are okay. As well other programs on my computer run slowly now as well like windows media player and just when I'm starting programs up on my comp. This happened now so long ago and it was a sudden change. I don't know what to try anymore. I have reformatted my comp and still the same issue. Help would be much appreciated thank you.

A:Hp Pavilion Dv7 FPS drop during games

The HP Pavilion could be over-heating. After years of use, the CPU's thermal pads and paste become hardened and this causes the CPU to run hotter and hotter causing game play to suffer

Hi, my relatively new "HP ENVY TouchSmart m7 Notebook PC" has been having crippling lag while playing video games. The lag slows the computer down to about 0.2-0.5 frames per second, and slows the audio down to match the video speed (which produces a grinding sound). This lag happens every 10-45 seconds depending on how long the computer has been running. Some help would be appreciated.

When I play Diablo 3 I get some fps drops , usually at the same places. usually im around 130 FPS but can go down to 50 or even 25 sometimes when its bad. its not unplayable but its no fun at all.

The places are demanding I guess, there is a lot of **** on the screen and action all around.

My current setup :

Nvidia 780Ti HOF , goes to around 60C during load
i5 4570 goes to around 65 during load
8 GB ram,

Im assuming the 780Ti should be able to handle Diablo 3 even when its demanding?

I used an AMD r9 290 earlier and got the same issue at the same places.

Before I changed card from the 290 to 780Ti I formated my computer and installed Windows 8 Pro.

So it shouldnt be any software causing this,

Am I doing something wrong here?

Is it perhaps my CPU?

What can I do?

if you want to I can record the actual gameplay and show you

I built a computer a few months ago. At the time I couldn't afford to buy an SSD so I just bought a 1TB HDD. However I just bought a new 128GB SSD and I would like to move Windows 7 OS to the SSD but keep all the games I've already installed on my HDD. I don't want to waste 128GB on games when I could save it for stuff that I want to run faster. My problem is that I don't know how to move my Windows 7 OS to the SSD and keep the games on my HDD and be able to play them. Could I just install windows 7 on the SSD and then navigate to the D: drive and play my games. Also could I delete the OS on the HDD and keep just the games and applications I want on the HDD?
Thanks in advance!

A:Transfer OS to new SSD and keep Games on HDD

So the current 1TB hdd is in the system & you now have a 128 ssd in as well? if I am correct, then you are wanting windows on the ssd & the hdd as the "data" storage, correct??

first to clone the existing win7 to the ssd you will need a 3rd party cloning app, try one of these: both do a good job, terabye unlimited is a much easier interface to navigate than clonezilla.

once the hdd is cloned to the ssd, then disconnect power to the hdd & boot with ssd alone. when it boot up into windows successfully a few times, then adjust bios settings so that ssd is the main boot drive and the hdd is NOT the main boot drive. now boot the system with the hdd power plugged in and boot into windows, it will detect the hdd, reboot, then back up again. now browse to the hdd and move & delete files accordingly. Games on steam & origin can be pointed to the hdd - check each vendor's support site for instructions on doing so.

Post back, Hope this helps!!

Can't guarantee it isn't hardware related but COD: Ghosts has an issue where the auto settings can be too high for your PC, do I recommend checking the games and setting them onto manual and find the sweet spot for your system. If you can try another game and see if the issue isn't just restricted to COD: Ghosts. Also use a program like CoreTemp to check your temps when a game is running.

Mine is only a 4GB internal HDD so will not perform this function!

Can anyone help me make the external USB HDD perform this function???

A:Making an External HDD backwards compatible for Xbox games on an XBox 360

360 isn't backwards compatible with Xbox games. Since you have digital copies of the game, we can't be sure you actually own a legit copy. So, we can't help you sorry.

But, you can use this to format external drive for your 360.

I recently just put a new gpu and motherboard evereything was working fine but I had a few issues. I took it to the shop and they fixed it. when I tried to run any online games my fps would be horrible but offline it would be fantastic. I am using the same connection/router I used before, before I was having no issues but since I got it back online games are unplayable my gpu is a gtx 780 and my cpu is a i7 2600k.

You may not have the latest LAN drivers for your motherboard. Go to the manufacturer's website and update them, and see if that helps.

Hey there.

I recently bought and installed the game Godus. After I installed the game, lots of my other games started lagging horribly, and with horribly I mean below 10 fps. To mention a few (if it helps), theres the following: Rising storm, Dead Island: Riptide, Planetside 2.

Ive tried to run SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, Tuneup Utilities 2014 and I have AVG antivirus installed.

I have the latest java drivers, flash drivers and nvidia drivers.

This is my specs:
Running Win 7 ulti 64 bit.
Core i5-2500k 3,3 GHz
8 gigs of ram
GeForce GTX 570
and the MB is a Maximus IV Gene-Z/Gen3

Any help/fixes/solutions or suggestions is MUCH appreciated, as this is starting to annoy me quite a lot.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to uninstall the Godus game to see if that fixes the problem? Even if it doesn't, its worth a try. You can always re-install it afterwards if it does or doesn't correct the issue.

I bought a pre-built gaming computer a few months ago and I've had no lag(FPS) problems at all. Today when I booted it, I opened my favorite game and its lagging like crazy. I don't know if its something bottlenecking or its some kind of malware/virus etc. I've tried Malwarebytes(free version) and deleted the files that were said to be infected, still having lots of lag. Please help guys, Thanks!

I have a Sapphire rhadeon 7850. It can run almost any game on highest quality. So I purchased Crysis the original off steam and attempted to run it at Very high settings. After about 10 mins the graphics card crashed. So I had to downgrade it to High. After about a day playing on high it begun to crash on high as well. I now can only run it on medium. Today it crashed while I was playing Planetside2 and it has never don't that before. And just a few minutes ago it crashed while I was playing saints row 3. I believe I have the latest drivers and I don't know exactly what to do in the amd catalyst. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any suggestions would be helpfull.

A:Radeon HD 7850 crashing when I play games

Try the following things:

Uninstall and go through a Clean Re-install of your graphics drivers.

Download HWmonitor or your choice of GPU tempreature monitoring tool and see what type of Temps you are getting while playing games. Overheating will definitely make a GPU crash. (If it is overheating, go ahead and thoroughly clean your GPU. )

What is the rest of your computer setup?
What resolution do you play these games at?

Are you using updated graphic drivers? This is usually the case with a lot of people. What are your temps like? Did you overclock your card or processor at all? What sort of settings are you trying to play your games on? A GTX 680 should handle most games perfectly fine. But, you never know. Are you running any other programs while trying to game?

If you could provide us with the actual temps (numbers) it would be helpful. But, firstly, when something like this occurs. It's good to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the latest graphic drivers. Is this something you've already tried?

Also, what settings are you trying to play these games on? While the GTX 660 is a pretty decent card. You can't expect it to play at MAX settings with desirable frame rates.

I've tried everything now. Reinstalled drivers, mic is unmuted, made sure it isn't the steromix selected.. etc.

I have my microphone selected as default device and my headphones set as default. I've been through all the properties and still not luck, need help.

Someone on another site mentioned this:
Are either of you using NVidia onboard lan connections?

If so, have you disabled the now infamous checksum offloading?"

No idea how to checkf or this but that might help? I don't know.

One more thing:

It has these alienware programs too which might be doing something:

Alien Command Center
AlienFX Controller

I installed the game Rift and it plays as it should. I don't know why this is different than the previously stated programs, but apparently it is. Those programs still can't connect.

Also, I ran safe mode with networking and they couldn't connect in that either. At least, steam and wizard101 couldn't. DC Universe Online couldn't run withought the graphics card.

Anyone have any idea at all? I'm soooo bummed right now.

Did this laptop come with Windows 7 Ultimate or did you purchase the OS and thus installed it?
Best bet for you is to get the HP Recovery CD or DVD for your model it will have all the drivers needed for your model. Basically it will install the HP Factory Windows 7 along with everything that's suppose to go with it. This process takes a few hours to run.

So contact HP Tech support tell them you need the Recovery CD/DVD for Model HP laptop. There is a cost for this so be aware. Then you won't have these issues saying graphic driver stopped because you don't have the correct drivers etc. The HP recovery will have all those installed.

Also with every HP system you get recovery with it but it's on the HD in it's own partition so whatever got installed might have blown out that partition and now you have an issue.

Well, it looks like I solved my own issue. However, if anyone is running into the same issue you will need to enter your Bios and set your voltage options to Auto. Here is the link that helped me solve my problem:

Specifically fantassin's respoonse. I don't know why you have to set the voltage to Auto (on my board I simply set the AI Tweaker Turbo option to Auto and saved it), but it solves the problem in the interim until Intel can release a new driver to address the issue permanently.

It's a mobile low-end APU. You don't actually have a graphics card.

You need to turn down the graphical details in games.

RAM won't help you much, 4GB is OK.

Hi there RayRay,

It might help to download the latest wireless drivers for your laptop. I'm sure if you go to the ASUS website for your specific laptop, there will be a download section where you can download drivers. Look if you can find one for your Ethernet (LAN) port if you are connecting via cable to the internet, or one for your wireless one. Let me know if this is any help.

Hey guys I can't figure this out myself.
My computer keeps going low of FPS playing some games (apparently not console ones), but f.ex. Path of Exile, Heroes of Newerth and such. Mostly its when there is a lot of skill animations, but then it drops to abot 3-7 FPS, and runs with 30 FPS without any animations going on.
I've updated my drivers, and now checked my temperatures of everything, here are the speccs:

Hello Techspot! So yesterday, I built a new computer and everything works fine except one thing. I get these weird distorted buzzing noises when I play games. It only happens ingame and its coming from my headphones. Youtube and media players work fine. They are kinda non existant when you start the game, like really low buzzes but then they get higher when I get into it. Like the main menu is fine in Saints Row 3 but when the loading screen and the game itself starts it just gets a lot higher. Can it be soundcard drivers? I don't think its my headphones fault because I tried them on another computer and they work fine. My motherboard is: Fatality Z77 Performance.

I bought a Lenovo z580 laptop with a dedicated Nvidia GT 635m./w windows 8

Every time I open a game,Steam makes me aware that it is running off of the i5's built in HD 4000 graphics.
I have went to the Nvidia control panel on my graphics card to run when a game is open just to get the same result - Graphics are still running off the i5's HD 4000.

Why is it so difficult what is making it such a pain in the arse to simply use a built in device for what it's supposed to do.

I also have checked and all updates on graphics card are up to date.

A:Can't get GT 635M to run my Steam games

The problem probably lies within your BIOS rather then Nvidia settings. You may have to disable the Intel HD 4000 graphics in BIOS to enable the dedicated GT 635.

to get the most out of it I will be keeping my OS(around 20gb) and 4-5 games (total around 80 gb),that keeps around 20 gb free on it,and I will be keeping the rest of the data in my HDD
Am I correct or should I modify it?

I'm wondering on which one I need. My computer specs are the following:
You Have: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GHz

You Have: 3.1 GHz (I should have 4GB RAM, not sure how some of it got used)
You Have: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 32-bit
You Have: GeForce GT 430
RequiredYou Have
Pixel Shader version 5.0
Vertex Shader version 5.0
Dedicated Video RAM 1.0 GB
You Have: NVIDIA High Definition Audio
I cannot run ANY of the newer games, even on the MINIMUM settings. I consider myself PC hardware-incompetent, so can someone tell me which parts I need to upgrade, and which are just fine.

A:Do I need a new CPU or video card to run the newer games?

First thing you are limited to less than 4GB when using a 32-bit operating system. If you want to use all 4GB of memory you will need a 64-bit operating system.

To answer your question, I would say both CPU and GPU needs upgrading. (I am assuming you have a desktop and can upgrade since you don't have a mobile version of CPU)

Maybe get yourself an i5 for the LGA1156 platform, something like an i5-650.
And then upgrade the graphics to GTS-450 or better. Better yet upgrade to the current AMD HD 7000 or nVidia 600 series and get a GTX-660 or better. Keep in mind though that a GPU upgrade could also mean a power supply upgrade would be required.

Hi, I've recently bought a new laptop because the former one had huge, unfixable overheating issues even if I used a cooling pad, didnt play games etc. It was a Acer Aspire 5738G.
My new one is a HP Pavillion G6.
I haven't had any major overheating issues with it yet and it has an average CPU temp of 40-45°C when I'm only surfing, which I know is completely normal/safe. When I play games like GTA San Andreas or other older games it goes to around 55°C and reaches 60°C if I've played it for more than one hour.
Yesterday I tried L.A. Noire, which is a pretty new game and it didnt take more than 5 minutes for the CPU to reach 70°C, which gave me haunting memories of the Acer Aspire.
Is this normal/safe? Should I lower the settings?

CPU: Intel i7-3612QM
AMD Radeon HD 7670M (1 GB DDR3)

A:Reaching 70°C when playing a game like L.A. Noire normal?

70c is not to bad try keep the laptop cool as possible. just keep the heat vent clear and you should be fine.

I have a brand new HD7870 in my Core 2 Duo E6850 machine (Win7) with 4GB or RAM. I get low fps (like 20-30) whatever the game settings I put in World of Tanks (from low to very high) or older games. It never reaches the 60 fps limit.

My resolution: 1680x1050.

Furmark, OCCT, 3dmark Vantage return nice scores, in line with expectations for that videocard. Unigine Heaven, everything to max, returns FPS between 10 (min) and 80 fps (max) with a nice score.

GPU and CPU usage are low while gaming (10 to 50%). High in benchmarking (close to 100%).

Did not try it yet (not at home for a few days), but another forum tells me to update drivers, especially audio drivers. IIRC I use the default windows drivers, so they are pretty old!

I assume you used Asus GPU Tweak during game play to monitor frame rate and clocks, and that everything looks good. It's possible the card itself has a problem, but more likely its a bottleneck somewhere. Have you tried unplugging everything that's not absolutely required (other PCI/PCIe cards, drives, USB peripherals). Could also be a weird driver issue (some other hardware's driver conflicting with the 580's driver). A bad stick of RAM could also cause this. Did the problem arise after a hardware change 3 months ago? Was it working fine before with all the same hardware? You may want to consider a clean install of Windows (time-consuming but if you can't play games you should have plenty of time on your hands).

It may very well be your fans again. You may need to open it up and clean it out with a can of air. Try replacing the thermal compound or pads. This may solve your problem. RAM: APACER 8GB DDR3 @ 1333 Mhz

I was trying to play Rome: Total War (a game made way back in 2004) at max settings and at 1600x900 resolution (which is the max resolution of my monitor) and I get an average framerate of 20 fps, often even lower. So I checked GPU usage during the game, turns out it never reached 20%. But when I lowered the graphics settings, the fps immediately jumped to 60. As far as I can tell from task manager, there seems to be high CPU usage during gaming, but it doesn't tell how much exactly. So does this mean higher graphics settings require faster CPU clocks and not just a faster GPU? Or does it just mean there's a stability problem with my PC that's affecting its performance?

A:Computer crashing/restarting when playing games

Hi, You should find out what Graphic card you have, and download the correct driver for it.
A clue is that you say it crashes when playing games, but does it crash if you open 'Computer' screen, or say 'Notepad'?
If you just booted the pc and did nothing, just left it on the Desktop screen, would it crash then? ( No, I am guessing.)
So if you can uninstall your current graphic card driver, that's, 'Device manager' ,Look for 'Display adapters',
Click on the tiny arrow to the left of the word 'Display adapters'.
Right click on the name of your card.
Then, 'Properties', 'Driver' tab, 'uninstall driver'.
Reboot the pc, let Windows install a generic driver. (Just wait , it will happen and notify you near the taskbar.)
Go to the Nvidia website, choose 'Support', then 'Download drivers' then 'Option 2' Automatically detect card.
That should find the correct driver for your card.
If it does not, then in your 'Search for files and folders' box, type 'dxdiag'. In the display tab you will see the type of card you have. Go back to the Nvidia site and search for it manually. Get the correct version 32 or 64 bit.
If your problem is the wrong driver, it should now be fixed. If it's the PSU overheating, then you will need to upgrade it.
Hope this makes sense.

Dude, I have the exact same problem! In fact, I just made the exact same post basically. I have an Alienware m17x. Last night my laptop got very hot, for some reason, and my FPS rates were lower. I can still play games but it seems that it is not as smooth.

Previously when I had FPS problems it was because my "power supply" settings where set to minimum. When I set them back to average it was fine. Today when I set my power settings to maximum power it seems to make my game run fine. But still the problem is why? It should not take maximum power usage. Something is wrong here and I do not know what it is. Maybe the fans need to be dusted?

However when I playing game like gta 4 I got form 70-75 temperature and one time I got 80 but its was just for one time. So and I have fews questions, its normal, its safe ? And when I playing game like crysis gta 4 I got fps drop in some places, but I hear that is normal when fps drop in some places on gta and crysis, fps drop is not so big. On other game no fps drop like postal and mafia II. But maybe it can have influence for performance I dont know so that why I ask you.

A:It's this temperature normal for processor and games performance?

Slowing down depends on what's happening on-screen, e.g. the FPS during an explosion or a lot of smoke/dust would be lower than normal. But at high temps, thermal throttle would kick in, slowing things down.
Anyhow, to the thread's main question:
The "normal" temps depends on ambient temps, really. 30C, while hot for Antarctica, is a miracle for Sahara. Knowing your ambient temps and system configuration/placement would help.
But if you are uncomfortable with those temps (should be, IMHO), refer to the Cooling Guides in my signature for help.

I have got fx 8150 processor and hd 6670 gpu but still can't run high end games like ME3 and crysis2....even deus ex human revolution stooped running after 6th level!!.......when I checked the requirements my configuration was more than suffice!...plaese any suggestions??....should I call up the manufacturer as its only a month old?

A:Got latest hardware but still can't play high end games like ME3 or Crysis 2

The 6670 is really a weak card for a game like Crysis 2... though it should fare a bit better with ME3. I think DEHR falls somewhere in the middle. Your GPU is your likely bottleneck on that system.

I've been experiencing a significant decrease in frames when playing games such as Battlefield 3 and Skyrim on my laptop. This problem only occured after cleaning my laptop from Sirefef trojans (Thread for solved Sirefef issue:

My laptop has the following specs:
Windows 7 64-Bit OS (Professional)
Intel Core i7 (Dual Core)
NVIDIA GeoForce GT540M (1GB)
I've always been able to play my games under 50 - 60 FPS, especially when my charger is plugged until now. I don't understand why this is no longer possible after the sirefef-trojan-cleaning-process.

What can I do to solve this issue?

I should also note that my games, particularly Battlefield 3, only runs at a dreadful 20 frames or less at the moment. This applies when my laptop is both charging or not charging

A:Laptop reducing FPS when playing games after cleaning Sirefef trojans

Try formatting and re-installing Windows fresh. Most laptops have built-in factory restore options on boot up. Virus infections can leave nasty things behind or file damage even after they are "removed"

I m just starting plans for a DIY PC for racing games my first build I don t demand cutting edge performance a reliable fps on a singe -inch display would be fine But I want at least Intel? racing games: or for AMD CPUs that in TDU GRID GRID if it s ever released SHIFT and pCARS SMS And this probably won t be built with parts purchased all at once I expect to buy a few CPUs for racing games: AMD or Intel? parts each month or so CPU next month mobo the month after etc But I do want a build flexible enough for future expansions My old Vista machine works fine for home office and non-game entertainment and I plan to keep it So I presume I need to choose a CPU and mobo to start graphics card etc to follow What about the rivalry between AMD and Intel Are there still problems with modern games and AMD CPUs It seems like mobo swaps are required more often with Intel CPU upgrades than with AMD Is that still true Would an AMD-based machine be easier to upgrade in the future Would like to keep total cost less the peripherals at or below Thanks for your help folks Frank nbsp

A:CPUs for racing games: AMD or Intel?

Those games you mentioned aren't that taxing so you should be able to easily get a smooth 60fps for $1200. You can use this as a baseline, the components come to $1500 so to meet your budget I'd say get the ASRock Extreme4 mobo instead of the Extreme6, ditch the sound card and BR drive and get the Corsair 400R case instead. The Samsung 830 is only $5 more than the Crucial m4 so I'd get that instead.

The most important part for gaming is the GPU. While the GTX 670 is an excellent card it will be overkill for the games you're running (not sure about Grid 2 obviously), something like a 7850 for $240 or the GTX 570 for $260 will easily run all your games.

I wouldn't worry about upgrade paths, the i5 3570K will last you 3-4 years at least.

Not sure why you're purchasing parts separately but if it's because of cashflow issues, I'd recommend saving up and buying everything together because components usually only ever decrease in price, especially GPUs. But if you're really keen to upgrade something I'd recommend getting an SSD first.

What are your temps? I've had the same problem when the fan on the video card quit working, or was clogged with dust. I use OpenHardwareMonitor because it seems to read all the temps accurately and also shows loading info for the CPU and GPU.

Hi I posted a thread in quot viruses malwar quot After running a some all coming at slow, not running freezing, Computer up games check on the computer they saw nothing malicious suggested it is a hardware problem and suggested I post something here When I restarted my computer the other day Windows loaded normally boot time was seconds However when I clicked on the icon for Google Chrome nothing happened I tried others and the same thing I was sitting there thinking I may have picked up a virus and Google Chrome opened I discovered that it just took awhile for the programs to open so I updated and ran SE and MWB then did a disc cleanup The computer was fine The next evening I turned the computer on and the same thing happened So I repeated the process Since then the programs are sluggish to open and some of the games I play won t open at all I have Windows and have only had the computer since Sept Oct of I am not great with computers but have cleaned a computer in the past through TechSpot so I can follow instructions Any ideas nbsp

A:Computer running slow, freezing, some games not coming up at all

well the first step is making sure you dont have a ton of programs running in the system tray (next to the clock.).
If you could click the windows button, right click computer, click properties, and tell us what is written down in system, it would give us a better idea of the caliber of PC we are talking about here.

Hi everybody, if I'm posting this in wrong category I'm so sorry! but I only got 2 days to choose if I want to buy this pc or not.
It has this info:

Acer aspire M3641
Intel® Core?2 Quad Processor Q6600 Series @ ( 4 x 2.4GHz )
Ram Memory : 4 GB ( 2 x 2GB)
ZOTAC nvidia GeForce CUDA GT 430 - 1GB

So please whoever knows (for sure) if I can play "ALMOST" latest games.
example: GTA IV , Need for Speed: The Run , or assassin's creed 2 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 , Battlefield 3 or even GTA V

A:Can I play latest games in this PC?

For gaming, you will want a little more power in the graphics card.

I have a 20" monitor with 1600x900 for resolution and a GeForce GTS 450. I've noticed a little lag when playing at standard resolution (no anti-alias) on less demanding games.

Hi I have been having problems playing Runescape on my crappy computer I wanted to ask someone to see if there is any way i can rectify the problem My system specs http h www hp com bizsupport TechSupport Document jsp lang en amp cc us amp objectID c Just a website that shows all my system specs Basically this computer is a wal-mart computer Problem running games A Black Friday Bargain But despite that I ve not had problems running games that I know I should be able to run until I got to Runescape In fact this computer can run WoW perfectly fine On quot performance quot settings of course but it can t seem to run a simple browser-based game any higher than FPS I m here to ask if there is anything i can do hardware-wise to upgrade this computer Problem running games to help run the game while spending the least money possible I know that the graphics card sucks but I don t really care about running popular high-end games right now And I know that the card sucks because its integrated And I know I m posting in the Motherboard section But I was told to download a program called quot GPU-Z quot that basically monitors what parts of my computer are being used when I do certain things While running Runescape it says my Graphics card is at and my CPU is doing all the work Apparently this means the CPU or something is quot bottlenecking quot my graphics card and it isn t even doing any work at all So I wanted to see if it really is a CPU problem and not a graphics card problem Another hiccup is that my computer apparently only has W power supply which is terrible Is it even possible to upgrade my computer s hardware without buying a new power supply I know they can be pretty expensive Anyways thanks for the help I m kind of sporadic in this post I am just really tired Haha nbsp

A:Problem running games

The computer can handle only 4GB of DDR2 667MHz memory max. Your only real option is to buy a PCIe X16 DirectX 10 or DirectX 11 video card... The power supply may or may not support the video card though

Hey. This is an awful issue for me I've been having.

I may open a browser and it will work fine for a while. Or I may be browsing and it takes 10 seconds just to highlight whatever I'm hovering my mouse over. I check CPU usage and it's at 100%...

Usually I will play a game of sc2 and it will be chugging along at 65-110 fps on lowest and then suddenly lag... freeze and jump. Then maybe 2 games later I play through a whole game at 90 fps.

I recently REFORMATED so it is NOT a virus issue or a ****ed up registry issue or similar.

I'm using AMD Athlon 64x2.

Windows Vista 32 bit. Service pack 2.

Please help me, this is killing me

Hi. I'm not sure, but perhaps a run down of your system specs would be helpful? I mean the hardware stuff: CPU, board, graphics card.

Does your rig "act weird" when you use other applications? Also, have you checked your CPU and GPU temps?

EDIT: Oops, sorry, I see you've got a Radeon 5700 and a dual core.

Does the screen go black at any other time when not playing games?

Just to be quite sure, try another monitor and see if the problem is the same.
