I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Sorry I can't answer your question, but this post piqued my interest. I use the Logitech 620 touch mouse on a Windows 7 box at work. I find a little touchy and has to tweaked. But I haven't tried the 620 on Windows 8. Because I'm always looking for the perfect mouse, I think I might just pick up the 400 tonight and let you know.

I have set my one-touch search button on my Logitech MX620 mouse to open Google when pressed. I now want to alter that to open Bing, but the Logitech Mouse and Keyboard Settings item does not allow that (it only shows Yahoo, and AOL Search as options). Is there any way I can get round this and open Bing from the One-Touch search button on my mouse instead of Google?

I purchased my Laptop 8 months ago with Windows 8.  Worked perfectly. Upgraded to Windows 10 after 1 week, and still worked perfectly for 7 months. Now the mouse and the touch screen does not work properly. If I hook up external mouse, it works perfectly.Tried to resolve with HP support, but after getting cut off on the support line 3 X finally talked to support who said it is a Windows 10 issue with their drivers, even though it worked perfectly on Windows 10 for 7 months.Told me it is not a hardware issue, even though it obviously is, works perfectly with an exteranl mouse, and that I would have to pay $100 for him to supoort looking at the OS Drivers.Should I do a wipe, re-install Windows 8, and then phone to get support since HP will not support any issues if you are running Windows 10?Thank you

Yesterday I was on my laptop and before I shut it down it went into what looked like a different mode. I booted it up this morning and it is still in this mode. It looks like touch screen mode but I do not have a touch screen.  The icons on the task bar are spaced out and there is a back button on the task bar too which is not normally there. When i right click against the task bar, one of the buttons says "Show touch keyboard button".  All of my files are spead out as if to have room for touching if I had a touch screen but I do not. I am finding this very annoying because I cannot get onto my desktop properly and is not in the right mode. Please help!

My MS Arc Touch Mouse stopped working. A friend of mine who has the same mouse had lost his mouse's nanoreceiver and he had given his (almost new) mouse to me couple of years back (kept without batteries).
Now I'm left with one Arc Touch Mouse and one nanoreceiver v1.0. Is there any way I can pair the two? I tried to install Intellipoint and do something with it, but without luck. I'm using a Windows 10 laptop.

hi Hersh,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.
Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.
If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.
I hope this links helps you.

Hi @frostygirl13, and thank you for your post.Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. My understanding of your post is that you are dealing with two issues, one, the projector lamp is on, when you expect it to be off, and two, the touch mat is not working for you. I am happy to give you a hand with this. For the first issue with the projector, I found the following post, with suggestions from forum experts @DavidPK and @WyreNut:  Sprout Projector.  This may be difficult to do based on your second issue. For the second issue with the touch mat, I would first make sure that you have all of your drivers up to date, and make sure you have the latest update for Sprout Workspace installed. You can use the HP Support Assistant, to check for updates. Please let me know how that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Check the Touch funtionality in OKR environment.
Turn off the computer and Turn it back on and right away start tapping F2.

If the touchscreen works in OKR Environment, I suggest you perform a One key recovery (expect dataloss).

I have a kiosk on which I've just installed 8.1 pro. It has an oem touch screen manufactured by General touch (p/n st6001u). I've installed the driver and it seems to work but Windows still says "no pen or touch available". My customers using the
kiosk will need to type on screen in addition to just clicking. Is there any way to for the OS into touch mode? I believe under 7 there was an option in Windows features but I can't seem to find anything on 8. Google has been no help.

Hello @JeffJadoo, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the Touch Screen, and wanted to assist you! Did the notebook originally ship with Windows 10?  How did you go about formatting the notebook, and installing Windows 7?  You may be able to use the Recovery Manager to restore the drivers, however, based on how you installed Windows, the Recovery Partition may already be removed.  You can also try reviewing the following document, to see if the information helps: HP Notebook PCs - Touch Screen Issues (Windows 8) Please post back with the results.  It is possible that the Touch Screen may not be supported for Windows 7 on that particular notebook. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

A:Touch Screen / Mouse out of Control

Hi Krooz,
I'm not an expert on this, but it seems similar to a problem that I've had with my Surface Pro 3.  If you live in a humid area, use evaporative cooling (swamp coolers), or accidentally leave the laptop in the bathroom while taking a hot shower,  moisture can get between the LCD and Digitizer assembly and create these "ghost touches" you are experiencing.  As you have mentioned the touches appear to be concentrated in the center line.  This could also be cause if you carry the laptop around by hand (like a book) and the pressure and friction (and sometimes sweat) from your arm can affect the screen.
The way I have dealt with this before was to fold a large towel several times and place on a flat surface,  Prop the laptop with the back of the lid flat on the towels.  Take a hairdryer and carefully heat the screen to soften the adhesive between the screen and digitizer.  Then take a clean dry folded hand towel and with firm, but GENTLE pressure wipe from the middle of the screen outward.  Much like removing air bubbles from under a sticker.  Depending on how much moisture is trapped in the screen this may not work.  If this does not fix the issue, you could always go into Human Interface Devices in Device Manager and disable the HID-compliant touch screen, and just use it as a standard laptop.

I have a Samsung series 7 Slate, which works great and is really fast with Windows 8. But with one piece of software the touch screen doesn't work, the menu items will light up but nothing happens when you press them. If I use a mouse it works fine and as it should. I don't think it's the software because I also used it on a HP 500 Slate and the touchscreen worked fine on that.

If anyone has any ideas for a solution to this problem I would much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Mouse works but touch screen doesn't!

There is a bit of a glitch when using older touchscreen hardware with windows 8.

Nearly all older touchscreen hardware is implemented as an mouse emulator. So when pressing on the screen it simulates a mouse click.

Windows 8 makes use of the touchscreen interface rather than the mouse interface for touchscreens, and the driver it installed for your touchscreen (if it installed one) may not be working too well with the hardware. If you install a driver separately for that touchscreen you may get back the mouse emulation for the touchscreen, but then some of the better options like gestures and sweep scrolling may not work well or at all in windows 8.

So what you really need is a touchscreen driver that is really a touchscreen driver (not a mouse emulator driver) for that model of touchscreen on your slate. If you know the touchscreen manufacturer you can maybe find a beta on their site for Windows 8? Find the touchscreen device in the hardware control panel and look up it's VID and PID to find the manufacturer if the driver page doesn;t already tell you. (There is a website somewhere that'll look up the VID/PID and tell you what the product and manufacturer is)

But.. may be slim chance. If not, try finding the normal windows 7 touchscreen drivers for it, that may help some, though not guarantee it'll be fully functional.

Please excuse me as my knowledge on computers is very limited.
I just bought a Dell Inspiron second hand. The person who sold it to me has no knowledge or doesn't want to tell me what's wrong with it. A few minutes after you power it on and start using the touchpad it will sometimes glitch. The screen will go grey and there will be lines. If I stop using the touchpad for a few minutes it will go away. But it continues to do it randomly every few minutes.
I would really like to know what is wrong with it and how I fix it. I know that it has been dropped as there is a chip in the corner under the keypad.

Is it possible?I've read that whether screen you are changing, its working depends on the quantity of pins on the Video signal connector.

Hi there I see more and more What is use laptop a screen TOUCH on laptops are being sold now with Touch enabled screens -- Now using a laptop in the Classical position I e with the screen at RIGHT ANGLES Vertically to the desk what possible use is touch Now if it has a detachable screen or can work in Tablet mode as a convertible that's fine but as a standard laptop -- what would you USE the touch facility for even if you were running Windows Touch is fine on accessory devices such as drawing devices What use is TOUCH on a laptop screen which you would have placed HORIZONTALLY on your desk or if you were using quot Electronic Drawing table quot type devices - but on a bog standard laptop screen But on a standard Laptop - Maybe on a Train Plane if you were using the computer as an e-book reader What use is TOUCH on a laptop screen - but if you just wanted to read would you be using a computer anyway -- e-readers are ridiculously cheap now All it does is just push up the price of the laptop for NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER Am curious - anybody here got a laptop with Touch - and what are they actually using touch for Cheers jimbo

A:What use is TOUCH on a laptop screen

I totally agree with you jimbo. I bought a new laptop a few weeks ago and specifically looked for one that did NOT have a touchscreen. I tried out the touchscreen models in the stores and decided touch is not a good interface for larger screens. Works great on my phone and tablet but requires too many exaggerated arm movements on the larger screen. Constantly moving between touching the screen and going back to the keyboard was a pain as well.

A:How do i use touch screen on my laptop

Hi timishi, welcome to the Seven Forums.

You can connect a touchscreen display to your laptops external monitor port (VGA) and use it normally. Your laptops display is not a touchscreen.

So today i woke up to find my laptop has a lovely greeny-bluish vertical line through the screen. It comes and it goes when i move the screen so its probably something that can be repaired, right? (Thats question 1 over with).

I have always wanted a touch screen laptop but unfortunately the price was out of my league when looking for a laptop. Now i have a 15.4inch laptop which is fine (apart from the screen problem above^) and i was wondering if i could purchase a new screen which has touch screen capabilities. I really don't know where to look for answer so i thought i'd ask here.

Question One: Could be a prob with the pixels, or the cords are playing up :S

Question Two: You could either get a new laptop with the touch screen, or you could get another screen and plug it into the vga port.

Touch screen began to experience phantom touches in the lower and upper right hand corners of the screen. It interferes with the use of the laptop entirely, preventing me from even turning off the drivers to disable the touch function of the screen. I can only power the laptop off by pressing and holding the power button for several seconds. On reboot, PC behaves normally for up to 1 minute until phantom clicking resumes.  I would have have emailed support directly, but it seems I have no options but to call, which will not resolve my issue.

hey guys, im thinking of getting a laptop with a touch screen, and i was just wondering if there is any way to also hook it up to a normal pc and use the laptop as a tablet?

A:touch screen laptop capabilities

The only "touch screen" laptops I'm aware of are tablet PCs. You don't really hook them up to a "normal" computer. A tablet PC is a computer unto itself. If you just want to use the tablet interface to enter input on another computer, I can't think of a way. The input-related software and drivers have to be running on the tablet itself. You can buy separate tablet hardware for connecting to any type of computer. That would be far more effective and cheaper.

The screen of my laptop is cracked and the touch screen feature is jammed. I can not type in my laptop password and so I can not deactivate the touch screen feature. The cursor keeps on going around the screen.  Is there a way to deactivate the touch screen feature without logging in? Can I deactivate the touch screen with just the hard ware or the keyboard short cuts?  I was able to use the laptop before even with the cracked screen as I was able to deactivate the touch screen feature. But when I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10, the touch screen feature went back again. How do I deactivate it again?

I aquired an HP TX1305US convertable touch tablet. it seems to have some issues with the touch screen. first of all, half the time, the touch doesn't work. anytime i flip the screen around into tablet mode, the pointer goes haywire and when i go back to laptop mode, the pointer is stuck in the corner, and it can't be moved. also, the application toolbar comes up and the only way to fix it is to reboot. i uninstalled the tablet functionality through windows and reinstalled and the problem is still there. additionally, when the touch screen was working, i had to use alot of pressure. i was kind of expecting it to work like an ipod touch or pda. i'm not sure if this could be hardware or software. the laptop has vista ultimate. i checked ho for all the updates and everything should be current. any ideas of what could be the problem?

This is the second time I've bought a new laptop in 2 weeks, because my old Dell's hard drive crashed.  The first replacement HP wouldn't connect to Wifi and Geek Squad couldn't help from the store, so just traded out for this new one, and that problem is solved.  I'm not sure if my Win 10 is 32 bit or 64 bit, BTW, and don't know if it matters for this issue.  I was on my laptop last night and the keyboard kept acting wonky--slow response and I'd have to hit a key a few times to get the letter/number to type at times.  Also, even though I hit the numlock key, it wouldn't stay locked.  Please tell me this is a quick driver reset.  I really don't want to go back to Best Buy again.

Try dragging it a little past the edge of the screen and release. It should work. 8 Isnt so much of a "snap" as it is a "drag and place it there" thing.

This is my third time making this thread with no working solution being posted.I purchased a Lenovo Y70 Touch Laptop several months ago. Since a few weeks after its initial use, it has had constant horizontal white lines flickering across the screen at random intervals. I updated the BIOS and it fixed it temporarily. The issue came back once more.I am running Windows 10. I have updated my NVidia and Intel drivers. The BIOS is up to date. I have tried to change the power settings with no luck (the recommended options are not present). Many others seem to have this issue and also have not been helped. I really don't like causing a fuss, but these computers aren't cheap and the lack of help has been very alarming.

Why because my Samsung ATIV Book plus screen has a slight crack I mean barely noticable but it totally wrecked the touch screen as in it starts to freak out little circles come up on it as if it is being touched and so it seems when I disable the touch screen that does not happen But when I restart the permanently touch my would screen disable laptop like I to computer it I would like to permanently disable my laptop touch screen enables itself Also sometimes it enables itself in the middle of the computer being I would like to permanently disable my laptop touch screen on I have gone to the Human Interface Devices and even clicked on the uninstall of the touch screen but it installs itself right back in minutes I can disable it then if I restart it is enabled again And it can mess with things when it is enabled as it starts flipping out So I want to be able to have it permanently disabled somehow Is that a possibility and it is incredible if it is not I do not want to spend for a new laptop screen The crack is barely visible actually but it is there from top to the bottom of the screen but barely visible Lara

A:I would like to permanently disable my laptop touch screen

Using Autoruns, you have to hunt down all the EXEs, DLLs, etc etc etc that involve the touchscreen operations, and disable said files. I did that for my extra antivirus program [now mummified] -- and it has not come back to life since then.

Hi, my laptop running 8.1 (came with 8 from factory, updated when 8.1 came out) was updated a couple of days ago, through an official prompt. Since the restart, I am getting a Touch Keyboard icon on the taskbar, Office apps have a touch mode and the pointer keeps disappearing. It never did this before the update. My laptop is NOT touchscreen, it is a series 5 Samsung, I don't mind the new icons to be honest, but can't stand the pointer disappearing and having to reboot every time. Any ideas as to why it happened and how I can fix it/avoid it in the future? TYIA

A:Laptop thinks it's touch screen after update

If you go to the bottom left of your screen, right click, then click on system, does it say that there is pen and touch support?

Also go to Device Manager, and check to see if there are any Pen and Touch devices installed.

If you can, post a screen shot of your device manager, Your system Window, and your desktop, that will help me, and others to find out the problem to this issue.

Its strange if Windows has loaded drivers for a device that isn't present, or installed the wrong drivers for a device on your system.

Hello I've bought a Lenovo Y70-70 Touch laptop. It worked well but the screen started flickering black and showing horizontal lines with rainbow color.I've Updated Video Card drivers for the both cards but it didin't work. Please help me to resolve this issue. My laptop is new I have it from like 2-3 months.

A:Y70-70 Touch Laptop (Lenovo) Screen flickering

Hi there, Mons   -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.
To fix the flickering problem, you should first check the laptop cables for loose connections. So engineer have already diagnosed and confirmed, it was not the lcd cable which is faulty.
Another possible reason for the flickering problem in computer screens is interference of magnetic fields from other gadgets. Yes, check if near your laptop, you haven't placed speakers, fluorescent lights, cell phones, radios and any other electrical device. If it is so, you must remove any such interfering electrical gadgets away from your laptop. Studies have proved that cell phones do cause screen flickering.
Try and identify when you face this issue, when on Battery power, mains AC adapter or in both scenarios? Is it for a particular power plan or for all power plans? Also check if this happen when you enter BIOS and in Safe Mode too.
Please follow the below steps:

If updating video drivers does not help, uninstall and reinstall the Video drivers.
Open Control Panel\All Control Panel It ems\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings and restore the default power plan settings by clicking on Restore default settings for this plan. Do this for all your Power Plans.
Change the refresh rate and see if that helps.

Update us how it goes.

I have an HP Pavillion DV9010us. It's a 17 inch widescreen laptop that I am interested in adding touch capabilities to. I've seen several different ways to do so, and it seems adding an overlay strip to the screen (under the from bezel) would be best.

Is this correct, and if not what would you recommend instead?

Are there any manufacturers that are preferable to others?

Haven't updated your laptop's trackpad driver lately? Then you may well want to consider doing so, at least if your laptop is equipped with a Synaptics trackpad. As a user on the Hardware Zone forums discovered, the latest Synaptics driver seems to enable multitouch gestures on older laptops that didn't previously support them, including two-finger scrolling, and three-finger click. What's more, while the drivers themselves come from HP, they should work just fine on other laptops with a Synaptics trackpad. Hit up the link below to try it out for yourself.

This is an fyi about the final resolution of this issue.  After a lot of arguing dell sent me what was supposed to be the touchpad but what I got was only the plastic palmrest no touchpad. Then because it's a "daughter card" I got more argument about the touchpad.  I got hot enough that I opened up the back, lifted out the battery, took out the two funky looking screws and the whole pad just fell right out of the machine.  The buttons seemed fine so I screwed it back down, put the battery back in and closed it up.  It's now great, the button was indeed hung up on the edge of the plastic palmrest.  This is a very well designed inside machine, it all screws down and all connections are with plugs or ribbon cables.  I wrote back to dell and told them they need to fire their tech manual writers because they're idiots, a monkey could have done this.  Apparently it is not easy to find only the mouse pad it's generally sold with the palmrest from what I can tell.  This whole machine is so well designed I scratch my head why the cpu isn't socketed unless they decided there was no room for a socket etc, which I can see that argument.  So if your mouse pad quits try popping it out first it may just be hung up.

The computer treats touch pads as mice in most instances.
I used to know how to create a shortcut that would toggle it, apparently that command no longer works in win 7.

Can I enable Touch Pad from start up in the absence of my mouse

Note I keep Touch Pad disabled for convenience but my wireless mouse can sometimes fail leaving me stranded

A:Enable Touch Pad without mouse

It is possible, but the solution depends on the brand & model of the laptop? What is the brand and model?

To go with their new shiny operating system MS are launching their touch mouse.
You will be able to buy this at the bargain price of $79.99!!!!

Somehow I do not feel tempted to replace my 10year old 5 button mouse that has the paint worn off but still works perfectly. This cost the enormous sum Of ?4.50 call it $7; media keyboard ?6 ($9)

A:M$ touch mouse $49.99 keyboard $79.99!!

I've got a lot of old Ms hardware that I still use. They're pretty solid.

I'm really WTF on the price though. I can get a decent mechanical keyboard for less, and that will be significantly better in typing quality.

The scroll on the touch pad causes my cursor to freeze on the screen. It displays a frozen tiny scroll bar on my screen with the cursor attached. Locks up  the compute. Have to log off to get it working again. Help!

A:touch pad mouse locking up

maybe hit ESC a few times. Once you are out of the lockup, see if there is an update to the touchpad driver. Also, check the touchpad settings (some model let you define which area and the size for the scroll, etc).

I have a Dell laptop loaded with Vista. I have upgraded to Windows 7. When I attach the external mouse the touchpad is not deactiviated like it was with Vista. Is there any correction to disable the touchpad when using the external mouse?

A:Touch Pad/Exteranl Mouse

One suggestion would be to manually update your touchpad drivers, when you loaded Win 7 the odds are you got a generic driver... hence the loss of functionality...

My touch-pad mouse is going crazy. It's highlighting and opening extra windows when i just slightly touch it.
Ive researched and people said that it could be because of a virus I've done scans and found none. I recently just had a new keyboard fitted as the other one was missing keys. Could this somehow be the problem?
Ive ran my laptop in safemode the touch-pad mouse seems to be fine goes crazy but not as much.
It's really starting to bug me.
Thank very much for any help received.

I can move the pointer, but I can't click anything. If I right click, it's like the left-click button is being held down and I can't click anything on the menu. A USB mouse works.

Thanks in advance, SawronZXZ~

I recently clean-installed Windows 7 Professional (x64) on my Alienware M17 laptop. Regardless of whether I use the Touchpad or my MoGo mouse (operated wirelessly via Bluetooth), when type anything, the cursor jumps around uncontrolledly. The Device Manager states that "Mice and other pointing devices" are properly operating. I would be greatly appreciative if someone could provide a fix for this problem.

Thanks so much!

Have you got latest drivers for the touchpad from the pc's manufacturer ?
If nothing else, it would rule out that problem.

Hi ProcuradorGeral,

So in your control panel under mouse does it have a touch pad at all? Is it enabled in the BIOS, as I know some laptops give you that option to disable it. By mouse stopped working do you have an external mouse? Is it USB?

I have a Windows XP laptop PC and have enabled Synaptics TouchPad V.6 on PS/2 Port 3. I also have enabled the Tapping Option. My problem is that I can't get the mouse/touch pad to recognize right-clicking. When I try to select several lines on my screen at once, nothing happens when I click the 2nd time, to select the parameter of lines. Not sure if this makes sense, but could use some assistance.

Thanks for any help.

Hi guys,

I have an hp 430 pro book with Windows 7. It comes with the ps/2 compatible touchpad. Couple of days ago when I was dragging some pictures the touch pad stopped working. I can still scroll and the right button works but I can't click with the touch pad and the left mouse button.

Tried uninstalling the hardware from device manager but it just reboots my computer twice and I don't think the mouse got uninstalled.

I've been told to update my drivers but I'm not sure whether my copy of windows is genuine.

Any advice is much appreciated

how do u disable touch pad mouse click

I have a touch pad mouse on my laptop and if u touch the pad it clicks and if u move your finger on the pad it moves the mouse. I am fine with the moveing i dont like the clicking, if i want to click something i can use the mouse buttons for that

A:how do u disable touch pad mouse click

hi yiiyyii,

there should be a setting in your mouse properties control panel. labeled "enable tap to click" (or something similar).

since you wish to disable the feature, I assume that you're "clicking" by accident. you can probably solve that problem by reducing the touchpad sensitivity (same control panel).

personally I can't do without that feature when using my laptop. I don't have the patience to move my finger over to the buttons

cheers

I would download the windows 7 driver and install the driver in windows 7 compatibility mode. I had to do that for my son's WIFI card in his tower when we upgraded it to Windows 10  because there were no drivers for 10

Hi first time here!
I have no idea if this is common problem. I have a laptop Acer Extensa. I like to listen to the music on Pandora....but unless I am working at the computer and using the keys and mouse it stops. In fact as soon as I walk away, within about 30 seconds it just freezes and stops. So I go back and tap the laptop left key and it starts up agin. then stops if I am not there...AND SO ON! Any reason for this? I would so appreciate a solution. tahnkyou

Hey there everyone, I have been looking at a friends laptop recently that has been having a few problems. It is a Dell vostro 1000 and it came originally with Windows XP on it. I have upgraded it to Windows 7. It started off alright but then started to get slow and I re-installed Windows 7 again. This time I have made sure that I have all the correct drivers and programs. However even after a fresh install the mouse occasionally just jumps a bit. As you move the mouse around it will freeze for half a second then jump to wherever I continued to move it to. I thought it was a RAM problem but then I changed the RAM and it is still happening. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks, Jack
