Wifi is on on but no laptop can't find network!!!! Please

Q: Wifi is on on but no laptop can't find network!!!! Please

I just bought a msi s30 laptop yesterday. So everything went fine when I test the wifi connection before I go to sleep. When I say fine, I mean I could connect to the internet. Then when I woke up this morning, I turn on the wifi but it says "no network found". I check the router and it is working perfectly fine. I also checked the device driver and its also working properly. I can't seem to find the problem. Please help

Preferred Solution: Wifi is on on but no laptop can't find network!!!! Please

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Wifi is on on but no laptop can't find network!!!! Please

Perhaps you have set your router to disable SSID broadcast, and you didn't save the WLAN settings before powering down (ie didn't select 'connect automatically') ??

Q's

1. Can you connect wired?
2. What WLAN symbol is showing in the notification area?
3. open a cmd screen and type ipconfig /all then post the resulting output

I'm new here so if this isn't the place to put this, I'd appreciate it's being moved. :)

We changed ISPs a few days ago. All worked well except that my laptop isn't showing me any area networks to hook onto, including mine. My tablets work as does 3G on my smartphone. Apparently my Dell Vostro is locking me out?

Any help here? Anyone know if there's a switch inside the laptop that got turned off?

MM.............and thanx! for any help I can get. I really hate to call the Geek Squad. :(

A:Laptop Won't Find My WiFi Network

and welcome to the Forum

Are you sure the wireless router is set to broadcast a SSID ( the name you see when you search for signals)

The laptop should have either a sliding switch that turns the wireless on and off, or a FN + F key that does it.

lease Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework.

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. I just got a laptop for work, but can't get it to find our server so I can get to work files. If I use the RDC, I can get on the server.
I want to map the network drive so I have access to my work files no matter where I am at.
I know the IP to get on my work desktop from home, and i can connect directly to the server via RDC from home too.

How do I get my laptop to map a network drive when it can not find the server in the network?

Thanks

Taken the IDE hard drive (with Windows 8.1 installed) out of HP Pavilion 15-e72sa laptop and replaced it with a Crucial SSD drive, then installed Windows 7 but cannot get an internet connection. There are yellow warning markers in Device Manager next to the Network Adapter and Ethernet Controller. The laptop has a Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11bgn Wifi Adapter for which I can only find a driver which is for Windows 8. Tried and tried to find a suitable Windows 7 driver version to no avail. I would really appreciate any advice.

A:Can't Find Network Wifi Adapter Driver

qurios, welcome to the windows 7 forum. Have you looked at the HP website for the model of laptop?
they usually have drivers for most OS's. Sometimes the Vista driver will work on windows 7 if it is an older laptop.

you need the motherboard drivers as well as the network device drivers and video card drivers.

Hi there

My toshiba Satellite L40-139
Model PSL40 - 02R00NEN

The problem is that i was connected to wifi and all was working fine, then it just cut off.
I have tried resetting the hub, and taking the plug out and back in, and changing every setting in the computer and the hub that i can think of and a couple that i didn't know of that i read online (on phone). And STILL no wifi will connect. It work's fine with ethernet cable, but as soon as it is disconnected, no internet for meeee.

Is there such a thing as a wireless card in the laptop and if so could this be the problem (faulty)??

any help is very much appreciated.

I just reinstalled the OS on my laptop, and would like to know which drivers or download I need to access the internet via wifi. I get my signal from a free wifi public wifi. When I set up, it asked if I connected to the internet through a cable or another option, I think I incorrectly chose cable, should I reinstall? Or can I just download the proper drivers and be able to find a signal from there?

I access the internet on another computer and transfer whatever I need via USB. Thanks for looking.

I've got an old HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop, and after reformatting, I can't seem to connect to wifi, it won't even find networks, it says I don't have a wireless network adapter installed and configured. It worked perfectly fine before the reformat. I've tried a bunch of things on other forums. I've updated drivers manually and made sure to get the right ones. I have no clue how this even happened or what to do. Could anyone help me, please?

A:ASUS Laptop cannot find wifi

Ok Clueless mate sounds very much like a problem I had with my new Asus ROG gamer laptop and I found the local Service Centre (if you can find one locally to you) was so much more help than the global and "local" (call centre in the Philippines) Asus sites but that is something you will have to find for yourself.

But in the meantime these are the latest drivers for your machine and it is always best to get them from the manufacturers as personally I find the Windows update feature not really much good.
http://www.asus.com/au/Notebooks_Ult...Desk_Download/ < from these download and install the LAN and wireless ones (just open them out and download the latest - usually the top ones) the others we might need to have a look at later.

Let us know how you get on and don't worry I don't think it will involve taking anything a part.

Just two things you can do are run these to make sure the OS system is running ok
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2
You can do that in safe mode if you want (power off and then power on while tapping F8)

connect by ethernet and have a look at the name and channel- it could be using channel 12 or 13 which is allowed outside the US but your PC is using channels 1-11 if US based setting

look at the SSID name and if indeed set to broadcast

I have seen that issue a few times - although xirrus usually shows the channel

all those signals are very low

whats the name of the wireless signal at your girlfriends
and where is that xirrus screen shot from - your girlfriends ?

Hi all I m having a bit of a trouble with home All Laptop other One find WiFi, can't laptops can my eMachines netbook M I was going to contact their customer support but for some reason their services kept One Laptop can't find home WiFi, All other laptops can telling me that quot One Laptop can't find home WiFi, All other laptops can That serial number is not in our database quot I m hoping you guys can help me I have laptops and a desktop PC Two of my laptops are connected through wireless and my Desktop PC through a cable Now this small isnt finding the wireless network my other computer are connected One Laptop can't find home WiFi, All other laptops can to It has found all other wireless networks tons of them neighbors city wifi etc but just cant find my home wifi I have reinstalled windows XP and reinstalled the wireless drivers Also checked that they re the newest out there EDIT I found a solution to this problem Once I changed the Channel Selection settings from my router from Auto to out of My laptop could find the wifi After changing it back to quot Auto quot it loses the connection to the wifi The quot Auto quot selection chooses channel which is the channel with the least noise according to the channel scanner of the router Is there any cause to worry that I have chosen Channel Why cant my laptop find the wifi when the router is set to Channel Thanks dertzi nbsp

A:One Laptop can't find home WiFi, All other laptops can

the US are only allowed to use channel 1 to 11 and some machines sold still have that restriction - Europe can use 1-13 - hence the router is switching to 13

there maybe a setting in the wireless adapter properties to allow you to use channels 12 & 13 (Japan are allowed to use 14)

goto device manager and network adapters and right click on the adapter - choose properties and see if anything there helps

Lets see the wireless networks and channels in use - use xirrus and post a screen shot

channels 1, 6 and 11 are the most common used, as they do not overlap - so wee need to look at signals greater than -80 and see what channels are in use around you

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

http://www.xirrus.com/Products/Wi-Fi-Inspector.aspx
Direct link to the program is here http://info.xirrus.com/Wi-FiInspectorConfirmation.html

{If the above link does not work heres another link http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download/fid,77196-order,4/download.html}

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.
On windows 8 - (i do not have windows 8) but, it would appear that, When you first try to run, you may get a message that .net framework is needed, and included in that message is a link to download/install.

Run the program

A user guide is available here http://www.xirrus.com/cdn/pdf/Xirrus-Wi-Fi-inspectorguide-1-2-1-RevB-6.aspx

post a screen shot of the program running.
if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information.

post which SSID name is yours, its located in the list, under network "Adapter Name" (1st column)
Note:
For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better. "A desirable signal level for a robust Wi-Fi connection will be green".
note: the signal level is a negative number, so for example -88 is worst and -40 is better

To post a screen shot of the active window.
Windows XP
Hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application (Start> All Programs> Accessories> Paint) and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.

you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here. We purchased a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, and it appears to be working. The issue we are having is when my laptop is connected to the wifi network (LAN), it doesn't find the wireless adapter.
If I disconnect from the wifi network, it finds the wireless adapter and connects fine. It appears that my laptop isn't creating a Wifi Direct connection when searching for the Adapter and therefore can't connect to the wireless adapter unless
the wifi is disconnected and therefore available. Does anyone have experience with this, and ideas?
I haven't yet tried other laptops, but we did test with an Andriod phone, and that connected fine, and was also connected to the Wifi (LAN) at the same time. The laptop is Windows 8.1, and appears to be miracast compliant. (the search for wireless display
button is available)

Thank you!

Try reseating the wireless adapter

If the adapter is easily accessible, usually through a cover on the bottom of the laptop.
Remove the power adapter and also the Battery before doing the following
Remove and reinsert carefully and firmly several times to cure any possible looseness or corrosion.
At the same time check to make sure the antenna leads are securely attached.

Note: This is not taking the machine apart. I do not recommend removing the keyboard when that is necessary to find the wireless, unless you are experienced in this sort of disassemble.

There are often some good examples of how to disassemble laptops on "youtube" and you should see if the wireless card is on the bottom of the laptop

Heres an example (they do vary) of a wireless card - with the clips where the aerial leads usually clip

Hi all. I have a laptop in my dorm room about less than block away and I have a very weak signal (1 bar or less) and I want to know if I could be able to hook on the net with the this network. I've gotten about 45,000 packets sent to me when I had 1 bar but none were received. This is probably because the signal is so weak. Is there anyway I can increase the network strength? Maybe I can buy something like a router or antenna or something to make it reach the network. I have no idea, I'm new to this stuff. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Often with that adapter you need the driver from the laptop manufacturer's web site.

I think that adapter is not compatible with WPA2. Try with no encryption and if that works then try WPA-PSK.

A:my laptop is not connecting to wifi network

The following was put together mostly by etaf with a little help from me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Atheros AR5007EG & AR5007
We have been seeing a lot of problems with the above adapters for over a year, mainly concerning WPA and WPA2 encryption and windows Vista.

The adapter gets an IP configuration, and shows as connected, but communication is non-existent or sporadic.

Log into the Router and disable the wireless security and see if you are now able to connect to the internet and surf OK.
--- Please post back here if that works or does not work.

Here are a number of possible solutions

--- 1) In Device Manager right click on the wireless adapter and "update driver." That apparently has worked for some posters.

--- 2) Download and install the latest wireless driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site support section, as some manufactures, appear to now have a working driver available.
Toshiba - update has worked for some PCs
HP The latest HP Atheros driver dated Sept 2010 has fixed the issue - so check the driver date, However, that does NOT apply to all HPs / Compaqs machines
- the poster did an online scan for driver updates on the HP website here HP Product Detection which resulted in a solution. Solved: Can't connect to internet wirelessly - Atheros AR5007 Wifi through Clear Comm - Tech Support Guy Forums

If you can post the Make and EXACT model of your PC here, along with the windows version you have and we will see if we can find the driver and will post a link as a reply here.

--- 3) On one occasion re-setting the router back to factory default and re-configuring the router settings has resolved the issue

--- 4) A few posters here with the same issue have found that the driver from this site ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows resolved the issue

Assuming that after all the above the wireless still does not connect to the internet, all I can suggest is to use wireless security of WEP or to get an external USB wireless card.

You might also bug your laptop's tech support about the problem--maybe people can put pressure on Atheros to find a fix.

Hi. I'm using a Gateway NV54 laptop and the wifi isn't connecting to the home network or internet. The wifi worked before the install, but not after. I have another laptop and the wifi works fine for it.

Recently did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, 64-bit. Installed all drivers. Current wireless driver is Intel Wireless LAN Driver (since the laptop uses Intel Pentium processor).

When I click my home network in the list of connections it asks for the security key. I put in the key and immediately it says "windows was unable to connect to this network." Tried this multiple times. I can connect with ethernet but not wireless.

Tried pressing Xfinity router wireless button to pick up the laptop but it didn't work. Tried logging into Xfinity router from the other computer and manually put the laptop's computer name and mac address into router, restarted router, still can't connect.

Any ideas? Thanks.

i just bought a hp pavillion 15-R005TX , but it refuses to detect my homes wifi signal .i have gone through the previous posts on this site and i hv changed the ssid name of my router, but still the laptop is not detecting the wifi. Then is used my android phone as a hot spot and it was detected by the laptop but no site not even google could be opened (it may be bcoz of weak signal). i hope to get some solution soon thanks in advance

A:hp laptop not detecting home wifi network

Hello @rohitseth21 , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand you're having connection issues on your 15-R005TX notebook. If the notebook sees the hotspot but doesnt see the routers SSID you might be better off inquiring with your Internet Service Provider or router manufacturer. Here are some steps you can try. Powercycle the network:1. Shut down your notebook.2. Unplug the power to your router.3. Unplug the power to your modem.4. Wait at least 45 seconds.5. Plug in the modem, and wait for it to come back online.6. Plug in the router, and wait for it to come back online.7. Turn on your notebook, and test your connection.Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.4. Restart your PC and test.It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.3. In the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.4. Restart your PC and test.Reinstall the network adapter drivers:1. Download the drivers from here but do not run them yet.2. Go to your start screen/menu and type Device Manager.3. Expand Network adapters.4. Right click on the wireless adapter and choose Uninstall.5. Run the downloaded drivers from step 1.6. Restart your PC and test.If those three steps do not resolve the issue, try this document published by Microsoft for networking issues: Wired and wireless network problems. You can change the operating system with the dropdown in the upper-right corner of the document. Hopefully this helps!

For the fastest repair option, you could do a repair install.

Repair Install

You do not need to upgrade your OS to fix the issue.

When did this start happening?

Install any hardware or software recently?

I am unable to get my laptop to connect to the internet when my wifi network has any type of security option or authentication selected. i want to password protect my network and it shows that the network name and passphrase i selected are correct on the router setup page. I can connect to wifi just fine when there is no authentication set on the network, but when I change it to WPA2 or WEP or any type of security on the router setup page, my laptop is able to find the network and connect with local only access. it gives me the option to reset the network adapter or generate a new ip address, but the problem still persists, and the connection only works when there is no password. is it my laptop or the router that is the problem. it has worked previously with a different router with password security.

can we have the wireless adapter make and model - will be in ipconfig /all

Post an ipconfig /all

also have a read about a particular issue we are seing on vista with an AR5007 type adapter - which may apply if its the same adapter and you are on vista

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

Atheros Wireless Adapter - AR5007EG & AR5007
We have recently been seeing a lot of problems with the above adapter over the last few months, mainly concerning WPA and WPA2 encryption and windows Vista.

What is the make and model of the router, what is the firmware version on the router? Are you using the latest driver for the wireless card? What OS? 2k? XP? sp1, sp2?
Is the Router broadcasting its SSID? This info would be very helpful to help narrow down possible causes of the problem and possible resolutions.

Hi,
This is a strange one. I have an Acer netbook, Win7 Starter, which will access the internet fine, and which will view share folders on the LAN fine. But if I open up a share folder and view its contents in explorer, the machine will freeze within ten seconds.

Using ethernet, there is no problem.

I've updated drivers. Acer only had version 14, but the Intel site had version 16. This is an Intel N 100 wifi card.

I also swapped cards from another same model Acer, with no change.

The card's settings seem fine. File sharing is turned on on both machines. I'm not even framing the why's of this problem very well at this point.

It's very likely that the Hamachi connection is causing your problems. You will need to uninstall Hamachi to fix the problem.

This happens all the time with Hamachi.

Hey guys I've been having a problem for a few days and have laptop) Wifi suddenly (through working Hosted not Network been looking everywhere for a solution with no luck thus far I recently moved in with my girlfriend and Hosted Wifi Network (through laptop) suddenly not working my internet plan didn't include a router Since she's not going to stay here for long just til the end of the year I've been routing the net from the cable modem through my laptop so all of our devices can be connected Problem started happening when she had to plug the cable on her laptop one day as I was away for uni and we simply cannot take Hosted Wifi Network (through laptop) suddenly not working the damn cable out of it I'm working on getting a replacement one before I can try bruteforcing it but I'm also worried that it might break the port In any case we've been using her laptop as the router for the last few weeks but somehow Virtual Router Manager doesn't work here it fails to recognize the virtual mini port so I'm manually routing it using the netsh wlan script The problem is that it simply stopped working last week and I have no idea why The network is still being set succesfully and all devices can connect to it but they can't connect to the internet Doing a adapter troubleshooting windows says it's because it doesn't have a valid IP connection I've since looked for solutions for this online but none of them fit my problem I've tried the netsh reset log commands with to no avail The computer connected to the wired modem has perfect connection I'm currently writing from it it's just the hosted wifi that doesn't work Thoughts Thank you so much in advance

Router : Cisco E4200
Vista Business
Laptop
Recently my laptop started connecting to my guest Wifi network vs the main network. I cannot get Vista to automatically connect to my main wifi over the guest after boot up. This problem only occurs when i restart or boot up.

Things i have tried:

Removed the guest network from list
Unchecked connect automatically under guest properties
Made sure main wifi has Connect automatically checked under properties
Made sure main Wifi has connect when in range automatically.

Any other thoughts?
Thanks

I recently bought a new Vista HP Compaq Presario CQ50 notebook, and have had no problems, up till now, connecting to my home network via my home PC and Linksys wireless router.

I had left home for 2 days, bringing my laptop with me naturally. Keep in mind that my wirless connection was fine before I left, but when I returned, the laptop failed to find my home network. It has no trouble at all finding other local networks, but for some reason, not mine. Now, the only way I am able to connect it to my network is via ethernet cable.

Once again, my wireless card is on, as I am able to locate other networks in my neighborhood. My home PC cannot be firewalling/ preventing access to my laptop, if Im able to connect via ethernet cable, right?

Im not really an expert on computers, so advice or help would be great.

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 running Windows 7, 64 bit, which works fine. Except...

Whenever I put it to sleep, on waking, it cannot find any WiFi network. I constantly move between my office and home, and each time I do, I have to reboot so that I can find the network.

If I actually physically plug it into the network, it works fine, but it can't find any WiFi network at all - just endlessly thinks about it and fails to find anything.

A:Vista laptop does not find wireless network

well the route is enabled for wireless (ie it should be transmitting) and you
should see the SSID dlink.

you already have wired access on your Realtek RTL8101E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet
so why are you attempting the wireless too?
You will not get additional thruput with multiple connections.

If you want to TEST your wireless, disconnection the cable from the NIC
and then use the Wireless Wizard to find DLINK

I am working on my aunts computer and it worked while it was hooked up to the cable modem and router. I recently hooked up another laptop (that worked wirelessly with no problem) to the cable modem and router and then tried to work my aunts computer (the Gateway MA7) with the wireless network and it says it cannot find a network. I try to use the wizard to connect to the internet and it says "wireless capability on this computer is turned off" and tells me to turn it on by using a switch (which I could not find any) or a function key combination. I have no idea where to begin. I have searched a few forums and also googled this but to no avail. I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks so much.
Have a blessed day!

A:trying to find wirless network on Gateway MA7 laptop

I don't know what Gateway uses for a wireless switch. Most times the physical switch or function key is identified by an antenna icon. If in color it will probably be blue.

Fn + F2 is a common key combination. On the front of the laptop, down low where you don't see it unless you stand on your head, is a common place for slide switches. To the upper left of the keyboard is a common location for push button toggle switches.

Let us know when you find it so I can add it to my list.

My son just purchased a Vista HP laptop. I am attempting to connect him to my home network in which the main computer and printer runs with XP. When I try to add the network printer, the Vista laptop says it cannot find it. Do I need new drivers maybe? Thanks for your help.

A:New Vista Laptop Can't Find Network XP Printer

You'll certainly need the Vista driver for the printer. I'd first connect the printer directly to the Vista and get it working that way. Then move it back to the XP.

Have you enabled file and printer sharing on the XP? Shared the printer? Configured any 3rd party firewall (security suite) for the desired access?

A:Can my Laptop simultaneously connect to a 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz Wifi network?

You can stream HD movies fine at 150Mbps or even less but it depends on how much of the bandwidth is being used by your neighbors. This can be a big problem in some areas. You won't be able to use both frequency's at once.

Finding the best clean channels to use are what matters most on 2.4 GHz, channel bonding comes in handy sometimes but works best when the channels are mostly clear.

5Ghz is better in this respect because hardly anyone is using it so you tend to get all the bandwidth to yourself but the drawback with 5GHz frequency is that it won't go through walls worth a darn so it's really only useful for open area's outdoors or for large rooms.

I'm running the Asus AC66U router and the Asus PCI-e AC66 NIC which usually runs about 877.5-1.1 Gb. I can stream multiple YouTube video's while watching movies although I could also do this using the 2.4GHz frequency at 300Mbps.

Hi everyone,

I need some help with a laptop, all of a sudden it stopped detecting my home WiFi network.

The laptop worked fine with this network before and it was configured to connect automatically.
The laptop detects the whole other bunch of networks around here (neighbours and such) but not my home. Other PCs and smartphones detect and connect to my network just fine.

I tried restarting the laptop, reinstalling and updating the drivers for the WiFi card and nothing worked.

It's an Asus laptop with Windows 8.1

I thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Hey, i'm not really good at explaining things, but I'll try my best.
The problem is that I have an old computer Acer Aspire 5315 which has this problem with WiFi, it can't find Wireless Network Connection.
I tried installing drivers but that doesn't help, I don't kow if wireless switch is responding, because nothing happens when I click it. But I does work well when I insert ethernet cable, and everything works just fine on another laptop. Is it a problem with computer it self? Is it possible to fix it?
I'm uploading a picture which shows that the laptos is able to find LAN connection, but it can't event detect Wireless Network Connection (so I can't manually enable it, how many videos, forums suggest)

A:Laptop doesn't find Wireless Network Connection

Check in Device Manager to see if it is listed there.

There may be a button or Fn key combination to turn on/off the wireless, see if that's the case.
If above fail, try loading defaults in BIOS (either first screen or exit menu).

can we see the ipconfig /all

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG , Webroot etc

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

This should also work for windows 8
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Hello there Please bear with me as I'm new here and I'm internet network Laptop connection, find cannot wireless has lost honestly not super tech-savvy I'm seeking help because my laptop seems to have spontaneously lost the ability to connect to or even detect my home network internet connection Details about the laptop and OS are towards the end of this post When I open Chrome I get the error message quot Unable to connect to the internet quot When I Laptop has lost wireless internet connection, cannot find network click on the usual icon that I'd use to locate my home network I Laptop has lost wireless internet connection, cannot find network see quot Currently connected to Unidentified network No network access quot My network does not show up There is a link for quot Open Network and Sharing Center quot I attached a screen shot of what I see when I click on that link Clicking on the quot Connect to a network quot option leads me right back to quot Laptop has lost wireless internet connection, cannot find network Currently connected to Unidentified network No network access quot with a link to open the Network and Sharing Center I can't get the laptop to find my home network no matter which choice I try I got out my old HP laptop which has wireless for troubleshooting purposes It immediately found my home network and accessed the internet without any problems So I it would seem there are no issues with my modem and or router I suspect I've just done something dumb in the laptop settings I once accidentally turned off all sound for internet websites and couldn't restore it until a friend came to troubleshoot so this scenario does not seem unlikely Also in case it provides any clues I can tell you when the problem started My laptop started grousing at me about an IP address conflict I ignored it and kept closing the error box I wasn't using it for internet when that happened Then about a couple weeks ago my desktop PC i e my command central told me it couldn't access the internet due to an IP address conflict I depend on internet access for work and school so in a panic I disconnected the laptop from the internet hoping it would fix the problem How did I do that I'm not sure I even recall I think I just did some right-clicking on the quot connected to the internet quot icon at the bottom right and then chose quot disconnect quot But I might have done more than that Maybe disabled wireless That did not fix the problem so I placed an emergency call to a tech-savvy friend who said I should unplug my router and then plug it back in PRESTO I had internet on my desktop PC again But I've not had internet on my laptop since then Any hints or troubleshooting advice would be sincerely appreciated I started to include the information from the introductory quot Basic Requirements Before Posting your Networking Thread quot post below but then thought it best simply to post my question before getting out a flashlight to locate router and modem model numbers as I doubt there is anything wrong with either of them However should you need this information I would be most happy to provide it Thank you so much Danielle Specs I have an Acer Aspire V - - laptop Pretty much anything you'd want to know about the specs on it can be found at the link below you can scroll down a bit for the specifics The only difference is that I had Windows taken off and replaced with Windows Home Premium -bit Amazon com Acer Aspire V - - -Inch Laptop Silky Silver Computers amp Accessories My service provider is Comcast cable my antivirus is Norton Security Suite and I have ABP Popup Blocker installed This is where I sorta trailed off and decided simply to post my question before continuing

I have a HP Notebook 15. I restarted my laptop this morning and when it came back on, all options for connecting to the internet via WiFi were gone. I am able to connect to the internet via ethernet cable, and everything works this way. There are no options whatsoever to connect to WiFi or reset the connection or anything, however the WiFi itself is working because other devices in the house are connected to it. I followed a HP technical support online page, which provided step-by-step instructions of various ways to reconnect to WiFi but nothing worked. I tried restarting the computer, updating the driver software, making sure it wasn't in airplane mode, and troubleshooting. Nothing worked. What should I try next?

Hello Every One
I have the admin laptop and it works fine except the wireless. The wireless works fine if i take it out from the domain and join the workgroup.

I have used the domain admin account and the machine local admin account and it does not work.
The hardware is OK and seems enabled with no problem except it does not see any wifi network.
The Laptop run Win 7 Pro.
Best Regards

Hi there

This USB Wifi adapter seems to be a MEGA performer --Lovely finally to be able to THINK of getting rid of LAN cables all over the place.

I've no probs with decent HD Movie streaming from a SERVER with one of these (I unplugged the LAN and inserted the USB Wifi adapter into a USB3 slot --note this needs genuine USB3 to work at proper speed). My Home router can deliver 802.11ac so no probs there.

Brilliant piece of kit and NO MORE CABLES !!!!!!. Wifi will soon be able to deliver comparable speeds to LAN especially for HOME networks. !!!

Here's the UK Link but is available in US and Europe. In any case it's delivered (in my case) by Amazon S.A.R.L (Luxembourg) so no tax !!!. even though I ordered from UK web site --they will ship outside UK tax free.

Hi, You have a couple of options as I see it please try these steps might help you to fix your issue. 1) Disconnect the Battery & Adapter then press & hold the power button on Notebook for 30 seconds then turn on the unit and check if the Wireless light turns on. 2) Go to Device manager then uninstall the wireless drivers and restart the unit and check if the light turns on. 3) Please update the Bios & Wireless driver from HP website. 4) If you are comfortable reseating the wireless card which will be on the back panel off your unit you could try this steps as well. Let us know how it goes! ****Click the White Kudos star to say thanks********Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem****

A few day before the wifi disappers, my laptop had started to lag every few seconds. I tried to find a solution for this problem, but it was of no avail. After the last time I restarted it, it did not recognize any wifi or network. the upper keys have all stopped working, and the screen has become very bright. Moreover, troubleshooting does not recognize any problem.I'd appreciate any help.

Hi, My laptop has a very weak wifi detection. Only when the wifi signal is very strong can it detect the wifi. I tried contacting HP regarding the same. They said it could be a loose connection with the wifi antenna. I have been waiting for the custumer service in my area to contact me(like HP promised!!!) for quite a long time now . Now I am in urgent need to get this fixed. I was wondering if an external wifi adapter would solve this issue. Mine is a Windows 10 laptop. Model no: ab030tx (pavilion). If an external adapter works, what would you suggest? (I am confused as a lot of products available in market only convert the laptop to a hotspot)

I have issues connecting home specific to my issue and wifi Wifi laptop my Laptop to the Wifi router in my house however there are no issues connecting to other routers You would therefore assume that the issue lies with Wifi issue specific to my laptop and home wifi the router at my house However every other device and laptop connects to the router at my house with no issues at all So it seems to be specific to the combination of my laptop and the router at my house I have been having these issues ever since I downloaded Windows I fixed it initially by downloading an old driver for the Wifi on my laptop This fix lasted for about months but since the latest windows update the issue has come back The issue is intermittent wifi where it shows I Wifi issue specific to my laptop and home wifi am connected to the Wifi but then the internet doesn't work It says quot DNS probe cannot be found quot when running troubleshooter and then it resets the wifi on my laptop This can temporalily fix it sometimes for seconds Sometimes for hours But then the issue comes back Does anyone have any clue what the issue might be or how I might fix it Sometimes when I run the troubleshooter it says that I have missing protocols But then this doesn't happen every time I have tried a variety of fixes that I have read up on Wifi issue specific to my laptop and home wifi in forums but none seem to work permantly One thing I haven't tried is a clean install of windows which is something I am very reluctant to do and also have my doubts as to whether it would actually resolve the issue Many thanks Joe

A:Wifi issue specific to my laptop and home wifi

It all depends on location, location, location. Some Gateways are just garbage. If you are not getting a strong enough signal, get an Access Point. Also you need to make sure that you are not on a congested channel, which is usually Channels 6 & 11 for 2.4 Ghz units.

If wireless are enabled then perhaps check services.msc for WLAN AutoConfig (automatic - started). Your repair install should have taken care of this though so not very hopeful.

Hi i have a hp probook 4530s. I recently installed a new norton security package upon restart the wifi icon amd every thing to do with wifi has dissapeared. There is a wifi on off button on the keypad area and when i press it, all that seems to happen is the Bluetooth turns on/off i have looked in the network adapters amd nothing is there. Its like wifi option has just got up and left my laptop. I recently upgraded to windows 10 and when i went to the hp support site they dont provide drivers for windows 10 as i was going to try install the drivers for wifi again. Im stumped can anyone help?

I remember seeing a post on the HP Forums about this, but just now, I can't find it. From what I remember, this was a known problem with the new Norton security package. You should check the Norton security forums to see about this as they probably have a fix for it.

Okay, usually when you hover over the networks listed and available from the taskbar icon, you get a nice little window with a few helpful tidbits of info for each listed network when you mouse action hover over the names. It tells you the encryption type, and the SSID, plus a few other details.

Well, on my computer, the information is appearing behind the list to where I can't read it. The network list is overlapping on top of the hover info. Talk about annoying. I searched for various things on google, with no luck. I tried:

Windows 7 network list obscuring hover details, and various other combinations to no avail. Anyone here have a clue what might be breaking this? I'd like the hover details to appear properly so I can read it. In the meantime I've installed the free version of Acrylic Wifi to work around the issue. Thanks.

A:Wifi Network info/details appearing behind Network List on hover.

The problem must be driver based or an add-on program because I don't get any of that. All I get is the name and whether it's connected or not. Check that your adaptor driver is up to date and/or the program you use to display the data is up to date.

Forgot to mention:
Dell adds "bloatware" to their PCs to "improve the user's experience" so I would check Dell Support for your specific model and look for updates.

My labtop was downgraded from Vista to XP, now I can't find any wifi connections. I've done the My Computer, network connection thing. Now I'm at a loss. I know I shouldn't need a router, I'm connected through my cable modem, but my computer is wifi compatible. The button is on for wifi. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi:Not much to go on,but generally when this situation occurs after a re-install/re format,It is a driver issue.
Take a look at device manager. What is the status of the wireless adapter?
Let’s take a look at the status of the network adapters

Device manager:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?
4. should be enabled and working properly.
5. If error code,what is it ?
Look at the driver section for the adapter.Note what is installed and where it resides.

I would also go to the pc makers web site, download and install:
chipset driver and network adapter drivers for XP.

Hello.. I'm new to this, so please forgive me if I make any mistakes.

For about a month now, I haven't had an WiFi at my house. I used to have something called Netgear that worked fine on my iTouch, but then it stopped connecting to the internet. However, Netgear still showed up. Next, linksys began showing up occasionally and only in some areas of the house, instead of everywhere like Netgear. Linksys was the only connection that would work all the time.

In early June, both WiFi's stopped showing up. The internet access for the Wii upstairs also stopped working.

Netgear is the name of my router and Windstream is the modem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
