I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello there!

The only app I really have issues with is Music Info, great app, but buggy as a bug. It crashes kind of more often than I'd like.

As for other apps, like the Bing apps, I don't have issues with. Sometimes the News app doesn't launch, but that's sometimes.

Odd, and you're using a new PC with Windows 8 preinstalled?

I use the system apps Mail, Calendar, and Groove Music. Since I first starting using Windows 10 many months ago, these apps keep closing without any indication of why. They close when during active sessions and on awakening they're usually closed. Groove Music will close at times while I'm listening to music. Why is this happening? I kept thinking that system updates would eventually resolve the issue, but they haven't, despite many updates.

A:Windows apps opening and closing extremely slowly

Hi wacky60 and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I do not see any signs of problems in the log. It is quite clean. having a program take 5 seconds to shut down is not uncommon. I have many programs which take that long or longer. It just depends on what resources the program has to release and what cleanup it has to do at the time of shutdown. There are a couple of housekeeping items we can fix so let's do that.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...rch/search.htmlO2 - BHO: netMonior Class - {85810C93-C14C-11D5-BC4B-0050BA28E4FE} - blank (file missing)O3 - Toolbar: 1toolbar - {2184469F-67DA-49CB-BF3C-9CAB5974A280} - C:\PROGRA~1\1toolbar\1toolbar.dllNow close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):c:\program files\toolbar\ <--folderOk, reboot the machine and you should be good to go.Cheers.OT

I had reset my mobile lumia 730, then i installed few apps newly. Most of apps working correctly with new features, but some of the apps have closing unexpectedly when i opened. I have surfed, but didn't get any solutions or cautions for that issues. I have enough internal memory in my mobile, i thought there won't be the issue cause. Can anyone help me?

A:Nokia windows lumia 730 mobile, Some apps are closing unexpectedly? what might be the issues there?

Sometimes my computer turns off by itself without shutting windows down. It doesn't restart itself. I have just put a new-ish power supply and it's done it now with the new PSU as well as with the old.

I checked the event viewer and this is what I get: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Source: Kernel-Power
Event ID: 41

If anyone wants more details I can post a screenshot...

My CPU is sitting at around 37 degrees celsius, it's max is supposed to be around the 80 degree mark.

It shuts down sometimes when I have 4+ browser windows open.

I will try to post my system specs soon, and I'm sorry that this post is a bit disjointed, I typed things as they came to me.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Welcome to TSG Mobius427.

I'm very sure this isn't a hardware problem, and I accepted this could be a lengthy bug hunting. So here's what I did so far

1. Ran Malwarebytes and quarantined all detected malwares

What malware and variants were detected?

2. Checked nVidia drivers for update. Honestly the latest firmware is very buggy to begin with. But it wouldn't spread the crashes to Windows environment surely?

What version of drivers are you using now? Have you tried legacy drivers? Were you having issue prior to the installation of the Inno3d GTX 770"

3. Ran health check on RAM, no results

The Windows memory diagnostic does a decent job. But to make sure I would run a full diagnostic using Memtest

4. Ran cmd/scannow for corroupted files, no results

You mean sfc /scannow Upload that file so we can take a look at it. But check if the latest scan is there. Go to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS and check if the CBS.log file is there. Here's how: Go to the CMD "Run as Admin" and copy and past this command;

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

The sfcdetails.txt should show up on the desktop. Upload that file please. How to; Click Go Advanced \ Scroll to Manage Attachments. Locate the file and upload. Click to expand...

Hello all I don't know if this is intended or not but my Metro apps will only completely close if I use alt f from within the app to close it If I pull the app down from the top with my mouse or Metro closing apps f4 only alt with I go to the switcher right click and click close the only thing that happens is that my Metro apps get removed from the app switcher Metro apps only closing with alt f4 and from the alt tab list Using the task manager I can see that they are still there and still using the same memory that they were before I tried to close them With alt f they disappear from the task manager and I get back the Metro apps only closing with alt f4 memory that they were using Additionally when I close them with pulling down or the switcher when I open them again from the start screen it is as if nothing had happened They still open into whatever state they were in and the splash screen with the app icon doesn't appear again like it would if the app had actually closed and been reopened This definitely seems wrong as all three options to close apps worked in Windows but in Windows only alt f works Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello The Visitor,

It has changed a bit on how to close an app from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. In Windows 8.1, you will now need to wait until the app flips to show it's tile when you drag it down to close it.

Here are some more ways to close apps in Windows 8.1.

Hope this helps,

Mate, you mentioned Registry Booster! You've located the problem. As far as I can tell, 95% of people on this forum recommend never using any registry 'booster' (apart from ccleaner), and the number one reason is because it makes a system unstable, and the second is like it: it doesn't actually provide any tangible benefit.

I recommend a system Refresh or a system reset, and failing that, a complete reinstallation.

No defragmenter, reg editor, optimizer, etc. should ever be installed. Upgraded Windows OS's also have SAFE upgraded built-in tools to do the same things as the other guys' stuff (like optimize drives). See Optimize Performance for better speeds.

These are my recommendations, hope they are helpful to you! I really think the only fix for you would be in the tutorials I've suggested (System refresh, and how to optimize performance). Good luck in your quest for the solution!

Windows Vista 64 ultimate has done this to me as well. It's kinda of a feature than a problem. It opened up the last programs that were running before the shutdown. But I never had windows update reboot without me telling it to. That's a new one.

Hi

I work on my pc until late at night so have several programs open plus firefox with numerous tabs. I go to bed, the pc goes to sleep, but when i come down in the morning all my programs have closed. All I see is my desktop. No error messages (as pps have mentioned). The pc come out of sleep but its like its restarted itself at some point in the night.

Its rather annoying as I will have all the programs set up ready to start work again in the morning and wont have bookmarked all the browser tabs but everything has disappeared.

It doesnt happen every night.

Thanks.

A:All apps closing down overnight when pc is in sleep.

Do you have Hibernation enabled?

you may want to check the following setting in Power Options. Navigate to Power Options in Control Panel and click your power plan (usually Balanced or Power Saver). Click the Advanced power options link and look for this setting:

If the setting for On Battery is similar to mine here, change it to 0 (never). That should correct it for you.

Hello I'm new here so if my question has been asked and/or answered I apologize.Since yesterday's 8.1 update 1 apps will no longer close on my non touch laptop by dragging them to the bottom of the screen and flipping them.I have noticed that when I go to the top of the screen to grab my cursor no longer becomes a hand but I can still drag the app to the bottom to flip it but then in immediately goes back to full screen and continues to run.Has this method of closing apps been removed for non touch devices in yesterday's update?

I open up my Live tiles screen on my 2nd monitor. When I open an app, say facebook. All is fine. When I drag from top of screen to bottom with my mouse to close the app, it goes to desktop. Is there a way for me to go back to the Live tiles screen?

Also, is it possible to have the live tiles screen visible all times on my 2nd monitor. I use Stardocks Start8 BTW if that helps

A:Closing Metro Apps takes me to desktop

Hello gizbug,

If you are using Windows 8.1 now, then:

You could uncheck the When I sign in or close apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start box from step 4 in OPTION TWO of the tutorial below to go to your Start screen.
Desktop or Start - When Sign in or Close apps in Windows 8
You could open the Start screen from the taskbar on your 2nd monitor to have it show until you either open the desktop there or drag and drop a desktop window there.

Hope this helps.

Hi, whenever I open a Metro app like Weather, even after closing it using the red cross in the upper right corner (feature added in 8.1 Update), the app will keep running in the background forcing me to end it with Task Manager. Is this normal?

A:Metro apps keep running in the background after closing

Hello Antares,

Yep, when you close an app with the red X on the upper right corner it only suspends the app to the background. When an app is supended, think of it as being placed in standby mode. The app will not use any system resources if suspended. A suspended app will still sit in memory (RAM) until that memory is needed by something else in Windows 8 and is then closed automatically to free the memory. While the app is sitting in memory, it will allow the app to be loaded faster the next time you open it since it's already in memory.

The tutorial below can help show you how to completely close an app though.

I often switch back and forth between desktop and metro apps - for example, looking something up on Chrome in desktop mode while messaging someone on my skype metro app. After around 45 seconds in desktop mode, the metro app is closed when I return! My 8.1 Update 1 HTPC now sends us to the desktop instead of the Start screen when we close an app. I know of the setting in taskbar properties to always go to the desktop instead of start when an app is closed. This option is unchecked. It looks like any non-touch Update 1 PC just ignores this setting. Anyone else suffering from the same problem? Any thoughts?

A:8.1 Update 1 - Closing Metro Apps Always Sends to Desktop

Crisis averted. You need to go to the taskbar properties and uncheck the box that says "Show Windows Apps on the Taskbar."

So lets say you have a program open, and its not pinned to the taskbar, calculator for example. You close it, and the animation for the programs icon on the taskbar disappears smoothly. Now, if I pin the calculator onto the taskbar and open it (or any current taskbar pinned item) and close it, the icon disappears with a sort of a chunky, or "blocky" animation leaving just the normal taskbar icon.

My question is, should this happen or is my Windows install lagging somehow? Can anyone recreate this and see if you get a similiar result? Simply, non taskbar pinned apps icons seem to close smoother, while ones that are pinned dont really have an animation and just close with maybe 3 different frames.

A:Quick Question About Closing Apps/ Taskbar (Could someone test this? )

Hello Keyes,

This would be the Animations in the taskbar visual effects setting. It's normal for there to be a slight delay with the animation. If it's to long or jagged, then you may have something else running that's using a lot of resources causing a temporary longer delay for this.

If you like, you could turn off (uncheck) this setting to have them be instant instead.

In the past two to three weeks Internet Explorer 7 has started randomly closing every now and again and is coming up with the error message has encountered a problem and needs to close message. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Ie 7 Randomly Closing

Hi everyone. Like Ms. Clegg, I'm having the same error when using IE7. My PC operates on Windows XP Home Ed. I notice the error (IE has encountered a problem and needs to close message) occurs when I've opened a webpage in a new window, get the info I need, then close the window. At this point the error occurs, I click "Send Error Report" and IE7 closes all open webpages. It is annoying and wastes alot of time starting over. Can anyone tell me what causes this and what should be done to correct the problem. Thanks for your help in advance.

Recently IE7 has started closing whenever I run Housecall (of all things...). I will be able to select the kernel and even scan a little, but after a certain point IE will close with no warning.

It's very irritating since I was scanning to try to get to the root of another problem with a "Run DLL as App" error.

I upgraded to Windows 10 when it first came out, and everything has been fin until recently. It feels like most everything I click on has a 1 in 20 chance of just closing itself with no error message. In Edge for instance if I double click on the top part to full-screen the page a message pops up asking if I would like to close all tabs, this message could pop up any time I click anywhere but it occurs 100% of the time if I double click the top.

League of Legends clients will flicker on the taskbar as if something is trying to close the program but failing, and occasionally it will close itself with no warning, same with a lot of Steam games, any other browsers, or most programs I try. I just recently reset my computer attempting to fix the issue but the problem is still there, any help is greatly appreciated

I play Warrock, and I just installed a new graphics card 2 days ago. Everything has been working fine until today. I opened Warrock, and it exited at the login screen. Then I re-opened, was able to log-in, join a game, and then at middle of game it quit!

This has never happened before...

Hi When I was on my laptop I was surprised to see Firefox was no longer open I'd turned away for a few moments to do something else and I was sure I hadn't closed it but there was no error When closing randomly Firefox I clicked to open it back up it restored my previous tabs I thought it was a bit odd but it's the first and only time it's happened However a few moments ago I was just in the middle of typing something and Firefox just vanished almost in a sort of flash No error messages it wasn't going slow it didn't freeze or crash like I've seen before it just vanished It wouldn't reopen straight away either I should also add that the sites I were on are ones that I Firefox randomly closing go on daily so nothing odd in that sense to make it vanish Seeing as this has happened on both my computers now and I've never seen it vanish in such a way I'm wondering why it has happened Has anyone else had this problem

A:Programs Keep Randomly Closing Themselves

Likely malware. Try scanning using a tool such as MalwareBytes.

You should boot into Safe Mode and perform the AV and malware scan.

Hello, I have a windows 2007 xp, and my internet keeps closing! Usually when I'm on a flash game, my browser stalls, and goes non responsive. I close it and it gives me a message asking me to send an error report to microsoft. I figured out how to disable the message, but how to I stop getting nonresponsive internet? Btw I use internet explorer, and my connection is pretty fast.

A:My internet keeps randomly closing!

it might be because of your internet sometimes 'leaks memory' if it is used lots. i dont know how to fix it but it did happen to me before and my friend is a it guy and fixed it so i would get someone to take a look.

If I do wait it out and I do get into my Internet Explorer or Mozilla, any links that I click or addresses that I type, it again, takes forever.

I've run a deep system scan with my Anti-Virus software and came up with nothing. I did a system restore to a point where the problem was not happening and, again, nothing.

Any suggestions?!

Have there been any recent changes? ie, hardware/software installs, auto updates? Did you try a system restore to before the issue began?

Hello, I have recently been having some CMD issues the passed two weeks or so. I don't recall the specific date that this started happening. I've read some of the other threads here that have similar problems, but I didn't want to take it upon myself to do more than just run maleware bytes and ccleaner. I happened to click on it once when it opened and the CMD was blank and just said something about SCHTask.exe at top bar. I would greatly appreciate any assist thanks in advanced.

When I run starcraft and I start playing and everything is running fine. sometimes I can play 1-2 match's then in the middle of one I go to the desktop and starcraft wont re open. Is there an easy way to fix this?

A:Starcraft randomly closing problems....

It may not have shut down completely. When that happens, type process explorer in search. You will see what is using memory.

If that is not running, make note of what is. One by one shut them down, try the game. When it works you know what is causing the problem.

Hi

Just recently, my internet browsers (Mozilla FireFox, IE, and Safari) have been randomly closing. I've noticed it happening when I load Java scripts or play games that require some sort of plugin. For example, Runescape or Club Penguin. Also, sometimes my screen would just turn blank when I play or load stuff like that.

It does not close when I load normal pages like these.
I have done a full system scan with the latest Norton and it has only found 2 tracking cookies, so I doubt it is a virus related issue.

Someone somehow made the BIOS look into the CD/Floppy drive for the OS. I changed the settings so it would look into the C:\ like normal. This is when the browsers started acting weird.

Any help would be appreciated! (I know I can buy a new PC, but I can't atm so please do not suggest that)

Thank you!

Well the issue started after I cleaned my computer out with Kaspersky Whenever I leave my computer alone a blue screen will pop up BSOD and say like Bogus driver bad pool header etc I press f and it will go back to normal I usually use Mozilla Firefox but one of those steps I was sent said I needed to use etc. closing randomly/bogus_driver, BSOD, IE and WoW Internet Explorer to get Microsoft updates but I discovered I couldn't use Internet Explorer just like World of Warcraft software program It used to also do it for Itunes and Ventrilo but BSOD, IE and WoW closing randomly/bogus_driver, etc. doesn't do that anymore For warcraft it only closes once I begin to type in my password If that helps at all My Kaspersky also is saying somthing about wanting BSOD, IE and WoW closing randomly/bogus_driver, etc. to neutralize Internet Explorer but it ends up saying it was skipped Hijack Log Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v Scan saved at PM on Platform Windows XP SP WinNT MSIE Internet Explorer v SP Boot mode Normal Running processes C BSOD, IE and WoW closing randomly/bogus_driver, etc. WINDOWS System smss exe C WINDOWS system winlogon exe C WINDOWS system services exe C WINDOWS system lsass exe C WINDOWS system svchost exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe C WINDOWS system svchost exe C WINDOWS system spoolsv exe C WINDOWS Explorer EXE C Program Files Kaspersky Lab Kaspersky Anti-Virus avp exe C Program Files hpq HP Wireless Assistant HP Wireless Assistant exe C WINDOWS system ctfmon exe C Program Files Kaspersky Lab Kaspersky Anti-Virus avp exe C WINDOWS eHome ehRecvr exe C WINDOWS eHome ehSched exe C Program Files Common Files LightScribe LSSrvc exe C Program Files Common Files Microsoft Shared VS DEBUG MDM EXE C WINDOWS system nvsvc exe C WINDOWS system svchost exe C WINDOWS system mqsvc exe C WINDOWS system mqtgsvc exe C WINDOWS system dllhost exe C DOCUME Ian LOCALS Temp csrssc exe C Program Files Trend Micro HijackThis HijackThis exe R - HKCU Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Search Bar http ie redirect hp com svs rdr TY lion amp pf laptop R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Default Page URL http ie redirect hp com svs rdr TY lion amp pf laptop R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Search SearchAssistant http search alot com sidebar pr as sion obfuscated R - HKCU Software Microsoft Internet Connection Wizard ShellNext http ie redirect hp com svs rdr TY lion amp pf laptop R - HKCU Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Internet Settings ProxyOverride local R - URLSearchHook Yahoo Toolbar - EF BD -C FB- D - F- D F - no file O - BHO C WINDOWS system jdsfg w jedf dll - C AF A - F - BD-F - C D - C WINDOWS system jdsfg w jedf dll O - Toolbar ALOT Toolbar - AA BA - - dc - - AB FA AE - C Program Files alot bin alot dll file missing O - HKLM Run AVP quot C Program Files Kaspersky Lab Kaspersky Anti-Virus avp exe quot O - HKLM Run NvCplDaemon RUNDLL EXE C WINDOWS system NvCpl dll NvStartup O - HKLM Run hpWirelessAssistant C Program Files hpq HP Wireless Assistant HP Wireless Assistant exe O - HKLM Run Cpqset C Program Files Hewlett-Packard Default Settings cpqset exe O - HKCU Run ctfmon exe C WINDOWS system ctfmon exe O - HKCU Run Jnskdfmf eldfd C DOCUME Ian LOCALS Temp csrssc exe O - DEFAULT User Startup Vongo Tray lnk C Program Files Vongo Tray exe User 'Default user' O - HKCU Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies System DisableRegedit O - Extra context menu item E amp xport to Microsoft Excel - res C PROGRA MICROS OFFICE EXCEL EXE O - Extra button no name - B E C - FCB- CF-AAA - C - C Program Files Java jre bin ssv dll O - Extra 'Tools' menuitem Sun Java Console - B E C - FCB- CF-AAA - C - C Program Files Java jre bin ssv dll O - Extra button Web traffic protection statistics - F - A - D - CA -AA ACF ED E - C Program Files Kaspersky Lab Kaspersky Anti-Virus SCIEPlgn dll O - Extra button Research - B - CC- C -B BE- C C A - C PROGRA MICROS OFFICE REFIEBAR DLL O - Extra button AIM - AC E - - d -... Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

Hi DRKdragon, and welcome to BleepingComputer.Look in the Event Viewer and see what errors are showing up at the time that this is happening. Each error will have its own date and time shown.Start> right click on My Computer> Manage> Event Viewer. On the right side of the page you will see the options Applications, Security, and Systems, double click on Systems. There are eight columns on this page, the three that you will want are Type, Date, Time, and Event. The errors will appear in the Type column, they are red dots with a white X inside of them.Warnings will appear as a yellow trinangle with an exclamation mark inside. When you see an error, double click on it and see what the description is.Please post the error code/s found in the Event column and the descriptions back in this topic.

Welcome to Bleeping Computer, please be sure you have read and followed the Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log, Instructions for receiving help in cleaning your computer http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/34773/preparation-guide-for-use-before-using-malware-removal-tools-and-requesting-help/All advice given is taken at your own risk.I apologize for the wait, if your issues are not resolved, read the instructions posted above and then follow the directions below. If you no longer need help, I would appreciate a quick post letting me know so I can close your topic.I am not seeing a log in the HJT log, but I do see AVG 7 and my information says that is out of date as of 5/31/2008. If you know something I don, please make me aware.Assuming you are runing the free version of AVG, here is a link to the newest version:http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-an...us-free-editionIf you intend to run the free version, take care not to choose trials, etc. Download, install and update, then run a system scan. Quarantine (virus vault) at least what is found and post the scan results for me to view and we will work from that point. If you are going to run HJT on your Desktop, you need to create a folder to hold the .exe, logs and backups before they get los, right click and create one, call it HJT and it will look lik this:C:\Documents and Settings\Dark\Desktop\HJT\HiJackThis.exeThanks

Hi,

I am using the SDLC Threat Modelling tool 2016 by Microsoft on a Windows 10 virtual Box 32-bit.

When I am trying to generate a final report, it discards all the different risk ratings for each threat, and instead of having the respective high, medium, low levels next to each threat, it produces a html report putting only high next to each
one of them.

Any help?

Windows 10 Insider, Build14965
When the PC is resting, 2 apps seems to start by themselves, almost as if they were a screen saver. I haven't timed them.
I have dual monitors. On one screen will be the Settings menu, on the other the News app, only with the red and black border with no content. I have to x-out to get rid of them.
To try and demonstrate, the best I can do is a snip of the Task Manager.
The Theme settings has only a Desktop Background of a Folder with some sunset pics, change 30 minutes, that have nothing to do with the weird app appearances. Screen saver is None.
Its the same 2 that always show up.
Pete

Hello Pete,

This appears to be a bug in Insider build 14965.

I have the Mail and Photos apps automatically open blank for me like this.

Lately for no particular reason I could find applications from MSN Messenger to Solitare have just been closing themselves randomly with Internet Explorer being the exeption to the problem. I'm using Windows XP SP2 with IE7. I've already tried searching for the works with HijackThis, Spybot S&D, and AdAware after checking for updates on each. I've cleaned and defragmented my C:/ disk drive and even deleted any recent downloads as well as any registry keys associated with them I could find. I'm at a loss at this point, so if anyone could help, it would be appreciated.

A:Apps Close Themselves Randomly

I've not seen any app close itself.

I've seen Windows close applications (for violating Windows rules, etc.) but I guess that I cannot envision what you are saying.

No error messages...no warnings...no explanation of any sort?

Alright so let me explain the sequence of events that led to this happening Not sure if they're related but I have no idea where to even begin to start to try randomly just started programs Computer not failing, opening/closing/not working to fix Computer just randomly started failing, programs not opening/closing/not working this My computer was on streaming via WMP to my Xbox from an external WD tb usb hard drive All of a sudden it Computer just randomly started failing, programs not opening/closing/not working lost connection to the computer So I went to check it out Didn't find anything wrong that jumped out so I decided to restart and see if that fixed it After the first restart the external HDD failed to recognize After Computer just randomly started failing, programs not opening/closing/not working being unplugged and plugged back in it recognized fine no files missing or anything Still wouldn't show up on the though No change in config and it's been working fine for about - months So I kept restarting and trying different stuff to get WMP to stream restarts in and it all of a sudden showed up on the The files all came up but it kept saying the connection to the computer was lost I started to notice other things going wrong as well on the computer My torrent program Deluge wouldn't connect to anything but I could still get on the internet Note that the torrent program is saving to the internal HDD No changes in config to the torrent client Another restart to attempt to fix that Nothing Programs started either not opening or not closing even through task manager they just remain stuck in the processes area Explorer was freezing constantly very unusual for my computer I decided to defrag the external to see if that would solve that problem It froze in the middle after running for a few hours I cancelled it and then it wouldn't recognize the disc at all It still showed up even after I unplugged it The computer is continuing to having problems with closing processes and getting stuck As I'm typing this explorer exe isn't even running I've never encountered a problem like this before and have no idea where to start I've ran a full system scan with both Malwarebytes Pro and Microsoft Security Essentials found nothing No recent changes that I can think of I'm very close to reinstalling Windows but I hate to lose all my program configs and what not I'm also just praying that my hdd is ok Can't check too much off hand until I restart but I wanted to get this up asap Running a custom build Windows ultimate version Service Pack Build gb ram ghz amd x Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

A:Computer just randomly started failing, programs not opening/closing/not working

First off, people around here don't like you mentioning Torrents. They consider people who use this are downloading Pirated software and if you continue to mention it, they will refuse to help you and close the thread down.
That being said, disconnect all USB Mass Storage drives (WD 2TB etc) and the X Box from the computer until we know what the problem is.
Go to Start/Search and type CMD Right click the CMD icon in the search results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Command Prompt type chkdsk /R and press enter. Now type a Y for Yes and restart the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup and test the integrity of the drive.
You can also download the ISO image for Seatools in my signature, burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD and run the Short and Long tests on the HDD. This may solve your problem, but if either tests fails the HDD needs to be replaced.
Also, since you have a WD 2TB drive you should always keep a current backup of your Whatnot in case of HDD failure.

Hi, I'm new, nice to meet you Well, It seems like every few minutes the last metro app I used opens itself and I don't think I'm clicking anything, I even disabled the hot corners with start8. does anyone know why this is happening?

A:Metro apps opening randomly?

Hello Adriana, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Are you using a touchpad or trackpad by chance when this happens?

If so, then you may want to disable the Edge Swipes feature of the touchpad to see if that may help.

Hope this helps,

After a doing a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit, I've been getting some programs to crash after a couple seconds. For example, after opening up Mozilla Firefox, the browser just crashes almost immediately. A few minutes later while my computer is idle, it crashes and restarts my computer. I then get this Blue Screen message upon startup:

BCCode: 3b
BCP1: 00000000C0000005
BCP2: FFFFF80002BC3000
BCP3: FFFFF88007811D60
BCP4: 0000000000000000

OS_Version: 6_1_7600
Service Pack: 0_0

I'm unsure of what to do. I'll attach the minidump.

Thank you

Hi all,

any ideas what might cause various apps to minimise to Desktop randomly every 15mins or so? Not crashing or doing any damage, just minimising. Apps still run in Taskbar fine, just need to maximise them again, very anoying - especially in the middle of a shootout...

Wondering if it's an autoupdate trying to gain focus but I keep a very lean system and about the only thing which should be updating is Avast. I tried the Avast option which detects fullscreen apps before displaying update popups but it doesnt seem to affect things...

Drivers up to date, virus & spyware clean, startup minimal etc.

Only started doing this recently, and no, I'm not accidentally hitting any keys

Any ideas?

So I am just using my laptop (HP ENVY m4) and sometimes when I am moving the mouse/touchpad, apps will randomly start up. It is very annoying and infuriating. If the pointer is on the left corner and I try and move it to the right corner some app like the webcam or the video app will start then I gotta move to the start/metro screen then back to the desktop. Is there a way to fix this?

A:Ie And Other Apps Randomly Close/crash Immediately After Being Opened

Hello;

The cause of your problems is most probably because you are having several Security suits installed.
This really doesn't make any sense, because they are incompatible, can cause these problems you are dealing with, and won't help you protect you in a better way, on the contrary.
It causes also a serious system slowdown and can cause BSODs as well.
It's like you are building your own Security Center.

This is what you have installed:

Kaspersky Antivirus
Escan/MicroWorld AntiVirus
Norton Internet Security
Antivir

You may only install ONE of above. So uninstall all the rest and only keep the one you purchased or you prefer.
Reboot after uninstalling.

Then post a new hijackthislog.

System info:
- Windows 7 Ultimate x64
- It is the original installed OS on the system
- It is full retail version
- Age of system (hardware) is approximately 6 months
- What is the age of OS installation is approximately 6 months
- I have not re-installed the OS since the initial build.

Suddenly, over the last week, my system has been suffering from BSOD randomly. The system seems to lock up just prior to the BSOD.

I have trying putting it into Safe Mode but the same occurs.

I have run a Memtest and no errors are reported.
I have run an SFC scan and no errors were reported.

My dump file and Perfmon are attached. Any light you can shed on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks

A:BSOD seemingly randomly. No new apps or hardware installed

No DMPS included in upload try this method.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Anyone else run into this?

I'm running Vista x64.. After awhile, say a week.. or maybe just 1 day.. frequently when i have say 4 explorer windows opened and grouped in the task bar.. I can click on the group, but attempts to click on an individual explorer session fail.. its not just explorer's that have been minimized, pretty much anything that has more than 1 item (grouped) wont let you click on any of the items.

Only fix is a reboot.

Cheers

I was given a Windows 8.1 tablet that once had a detachable keyboard which the guy lost. he reset the whole computer and after I got my information on it instead. After the reset, Windows was no longer activated and I had to reactivate it. which neither of us knows why, it was activated before we did a data factory reset. after I created my user, I installed a bunch of exes. now I go to try to see if I could test out the Windows Store to search for apps. but I search "Windows Store" or "app store" and several other things that may bring it up, but it always says, "no apps match your search" like if the Windows store is missing or somehow magically removed with the reset process. How do I get it back?

I have some dmp files i would like checked out if anyone has the spare time, maybe i can finally fix this issue

Thanks for any help, much appreciated!

I never tried sysprepping 10 but i have faced similar issues with 8.1. Turned out that you need to save the default app associations to an XML file using DISM (before Generalizing the image ) and later import it.

Export or Import Default Application Associations

Configure, export, import App File Associations in Windows 8.1

I have used "Setupcomplete.cmd" to auto import the app associations during the last face of install.

Add a Custom Script to Windows Setup
You may also need to disable the new app notification before generalizing the image.

As a standard suggestion - try restarting your device, checking your internet connection, checking time and region settings, checking if your microsoft account is syncing properly or not
What device is this? A pc or mobile?

Have the apps being developed for W10M improved in quality or features compared with the old 8.1 apps? Or have they become worse?
I remember reading that Uber in W10M is worse compared with WP8.1 but the instagram app in W10M is better
What are your thoughts? Please state which app or apps you're basing your conclusions on
Thank you

That's because there are thousands of em and more are added daily. So any list would be out of date.

I was using Windows 10 build 10316 normally until I use the Razer Game Booster.
After that, All Applications List in the start menu no longer shows any application...

I uninstalled the program but the problem persists.

Now, I update to build 10328 and nothing changes!

Any help?

P.S. Sorry my bad english.
