I don't want another cell phone for my PC's OS

Q: I don't want another cell phone for my PC's OS

Windows 8 reminds me of a cell phone or a gizmo to put in your front pocket. When I sit down to my main computer that is what I expect "A Computer", not an oversize cell phone.

Preferred Solution: I don't want another cell phone for my PC's OS

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Then stick with Win7. Problem solved.

Hi, I have a Motorola 815 cell phone with MP3 player. I recorded a cd (in MP3 format) to the transflash card. Using Windows explorer, I can see that all the songs are there on the card but when I install it, I only get ONE song.

I went to "change storage device" to transflash but hte phone still doesnt see all the songs that I can see with explorer.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hello,

I purchased Motorola Phone Tools and a USB cable to transfer some of my mp3's to my cell phone. When I uploaded them successfully, the quality was greatly reduced and I can't figure out a way to modify them - it sounds very scratchy when I set it as a ringtone. I don't see any option that the program gives me to modify bitrate, etc (my friend uses BitPim which is not compatable with my phone, but his ringers are much higher quality). If anyone can help me increase the quality, I'd appreciate it!

some extra info in the "preview" section when I'm about to send it to my phone:

44,100 Hz
Quality: 16 bit stereo

Thanks!

Without any clue as to model numbers, its a hard call to offer constructive advice, but the Palm unit will allow the export (from the PC based copy on Palm Desktop) of the addresses and numbers to a .csv file.

If your new phone has connectivity to the PC, then it may be able to import them, but that would depend widely on the model and your own ability to connect it to a PC.

Alternatively the Palm will usually allow IR (InfaRed) beaming of the addresses, and if your new phone will receive IR data then that may be possible.

I'm not sure where this goes or whether or not anyone here knows about this. OK I have an LG CU400 phone, and the data cable for it. The problem is I don't have a program to recognize the phone so I can send stuff(ringtones, photos, etc.) to it. The cable did come with a disc, but the CU400 is a new phone and is not on the list for that CD. I also can't DL anything from the phone itself because somehow my plan doesnt allow me to do that. I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now, so any help is appreciated.

Question:
I do not wish to use the internet to fax.
Is there anyway to use my PC, tethered to my wireless phone to send a fax to a landline fax. Basically, can a wireless phone handle data exchange to another fax machine? Thanks, Mike

Well, I have never used cell based broadband internet access......but Sprint and Cingular both have mobile broadband cards for laptops....

I would figure if they have cell phone service where they are moving he could use a laptop and an all in one printer/scanner/fax to send via the laptop and cell service.........

Is there one standard blue tooth that can work with most all cell phones?

If not, what is the best out there, where do you get them, and what price did you pay?

Thanks!

A:What is the best bluetooth to get for a cell phone?

Hi

I assume you mean a Blue tooth Headset, if so prices will vary from how they look to who makes them and how long you get on things like standby time and talk time, i was bought a plantronics one by the kids for xmas and it works great and lasts for a long time and it was about 20.

If however you want to pose with a designer model then expect to pay upto 100 for one.

Ask around the people you know who have one and see what they say.

I have a Nokia 3560 and every once in awhile, instead of sound coming from the ear speaker, it sounds like its coming from the bottom of the phone (where the charging and accessory plug are). and whoever i happen to be talking says they hear themselves echo. its almost as if the phone is acting like a speakerphone. its highly annoying. does any have any ideas on what the problem is? its a fairly new phone. i called nokia, but they outsource support to people in india and i cant really understand them and they cant understand me.

A:repairing cell phone

Most of what I found was of the "yep, sometimes DIY projects go awry - you need a pro" nature - sorry. Nokia has a specs pdf that might help you (I recently had to do a system restore and my PC is slowly rebuilding itself and all the upgrades, and I couldn't get Adobe to work).
They will also look at out-of-warranty phones with this proviso (from the site)
"If the out of warranty device is "repairable", you will be contacted by the Nokia Authorized Service Center with a repair quote before the repair can begin. Prices vary by product and the nature of the repair. If the device is deemed "unrepairable" it will be returned to you without prior notification."
Sorry - maybe another can help more.

A:Unlocking your GSM cell phone

I can confirm the bit about European cells.
Bought (as an upgrade) 3 tri-band cells, from and locked into the Vodaphone network (in Ireland).
Having spent enough money (i.e. over ?130.- per cell) on my previous Vodaphone pay-as-you-go phone-bills, all I needed to do then was call Vodaphone customer service with the cells' IMEI-numbers, they gave me the unlock-codes on the spot!
The cells are happily used now in Pennsylvania on the Cingular network, without any problems or limitations.
They were 2x Motorola E770V and 1x Nokia 3120.

is there a setting i have to change to make my laptop know its a laptop and not a cellphone so it will stop viewing mobile browsers?

I know its not your typical first question but I'm wondering if there's any way to get Windows 7 to see a connected and tethered Windows 6.1 Smartphone to use it as the modem versus the built in PC hardware ?

I need the cell but not the landline now and it would be a great help. Conversely - I cant seem to locate a Smartphone compatible fax software so I can generate a doc on the PC and send it to the cell for faxing.

A:Windows 7 fax from cell phone ?

Well I was just thinking about this myself today. I on the other hand can already tether my sony phone to get me on the net with 3G speeds though t-mobile. I have to fax some papers but I can't find a fax machine around that doesn't charge 1.50 a page after 2.

So can you tether the phone at all? USB or bluetooth? if it was a blackberry or other phone I could help with the basic connection but I have never used a windows phone.

you might want to try a google search for windows 6.1 smartphone forums, you might find an answer that way. oh and the modem phone could help me find your answer too.

FAT or FAT32 is usually used in mobile devices.
Best way to be sure it is formatted properly is
to use the built in format function in the phone.

I'd say Google using your phone's make and model and problem you're experiencing as the keywords. Depends on the popularity of your phone, you might be able to find forums dedicated to it.

Have you tried resetting your phone or update the firmware to see if the problem goes away? Or taking the battery out?

Hello,

According to my iTunes I am able to download music and then transfer it to my iPod. My question is am I able to create my own file to then transfer the music to my cell phone as a ringer? Do I have to somehow change the file extension, and what are the directions to transfer it to the phone.

Again, I understand if this is not legal, and I know you should able to tell me the legality. I was just wondering. As always you guys know everything there is to know, so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for you time and help,
Ben

A:Cell Phone Ringers

Yes, after you pay for music it is yours to do what you want with it (except copy and sell it/copy it and give it to another person)

I suggest 3gupload.com. IT DOES cost some money, but you can make your own wallpapers, ringtones and the such and upload them into your phone.

As for what type of file to convert it to, I would need your phone. Some higher model phones can play MP3. Others play a .mmf or .smaf format. Every phone is different

CSI Stick grabs data from cell phones.

Note: this device is available to the public for sale at $200, and needs additional software to mine all of the cell phone data captured.

Is your cell phone password protected at the data/charging port?

The rule: if your phone contains sensitive data, do not leave it unattended. If you loan it to someone to use because they tell you theirs is not working, make sure you actually see them using the phone and there is nothing connected to it.

As I understand it I should be able to link my new Win touch screen notebook Asus X e with my Android cel phone Moto Droid X so that I can quickly and easily exchange photos and files - I think I should be able to see the entire contents of one device on the other Anyway I've successfully set up my Bluetooth 'found' my cel phone paired it to my PC and & Phone Bluetooth Cell made the connection I can 'see' the phone on the computer Win says it's working correctly but I can't see anything on the phone on my PC nor the other way round I watched a simple 'how to' on Youtube and it showed a desktop icon for the phone and when they clicked on that it showed every folder on the phone and you could search through the phone on your desktop and request any file you liked to be transferred I don't have that icon nor can I figure out how to create it I found the shared folders but they are empty probably because I can't figure out how to transfer anything from PC to phone or the other way TIA for any tips - Obviously I'm overlooking something simple as usual Don

A:Bluetooth & Cell Phone

I have a different Android phone than your's .
With that said when your phone is paired with the computer you can transfer file's between each other but to look threw all the folders and stuff on the phone with your computer you will need some software on the phone , with that said I use a program called Webkey for Android it works with the browser on your computer but I think you have to have your phone rooted to use it, there are other app's on the Google play store that do the same thing

Oh to transfer file's with no app . On your computer right click on a file that you want on the phone and pick "send to" and one of the options will be "send to bluetooth" (or something looking similar to that) and on your phone long press on the file you want send to the computer and something similar will come up . It's been a while since I have had to do that I can't think of the name right now. As long as you are paired this should work

I have a niece who has a pc with Windows XP who would like to be able to connect to the internet through her cell phone, and as I understand this, it can be accomplished by installing a bluetooth card in the pc, and using a cell phone that is bluetooth compatible. Does anyone know if this works? Is it any faster than dial up?

A:Connectiong Pc With Wxp Sp2 To Internet Via Cell Phone

Hi DC3,

I tried that last year with lots of problems. You have to have a "data" type connection. Very expensive here vrs standard dial up or even cable modem. They wanted $10/500K downloaded. That would be one night for me. I tried it for a month, but it never connected correctly. That was a year ago so things maybe better now... hopefully cheaper. It was a cool thought, but I opted out.

Good luck,

I spilled some water on my cell phone and dried it off immediately but the screen has moisture in it so I dried it with hair drier and took out battery but moisture keeps coming back on display so I'm letting it dry naturally. After i first dried it I tried to use it and the display buttons wouldn't respond but it was still showing a display.Do you think after it dries it will still work? Thanks, Bob

A:Nokia 6340i cell phone

The hair drier probably moved the water out of sight. Leaving it to dry in a warm dry place out of direct sunlight for a few days is the best option.
Removing everything you can without unscrewing anything .
Turning it over, shaking it a lil to help any lodged water particulates evaporate helps too.

So in answer to your question...I hope so

We've recently decided to switch to using smartphones. Now, I'm all for modern technology. I like the fact that I can have an entire computer in my back pocket. The only thing about it that terrifies me is the reason why I got a flip phone: How do I protect the screen? From what I've seen, the main choice I have is to buy a plastic cover that will, hopefully, stick to my screen. Does anyone know if there are any slip cases out there that are one whole piece that will cover the back and the screen?

A:Cell Phone Slip Case

You have to search for cases specifically designed for your make and model phone. They're all different. A protective case will add considerable bulk.

Bottom line, you have to more careful with a smartphone than a flip phone.

A:how to put graphics from the computer to a cell phone

What phone do you have?
Usually when you get the USB adapter, it will come with software that will transfer images if it doesn't show up as a removeable drive.
The images need to be within a certain pixel range, but you can just edit them with paint.
No, the phone doesn't need to be a picture phone, it just needs the capability of transfering data from your PC/MAC.

Try searching google for something like: 'kyocera phantom photo transfer' or '(insert brand name and model here) ring tones and downloads'.
