Microsoft mouse scrolling so annoying

Q: Microsoft mouse scrolling so annoying

Recently bought a MS mouse.

Have found that when I move the scroll wheel up or down more than really slowly
a little round icon appears with an up arrow and a down arrow. If the cursor is
above the icon, the page automatically scrolls upward without stopping, and the reverse for the cursor being below that icon. It starts without warning and always goes farther than I want and it goes so fast it's difficult, at best, to react to it before I'm way past what I want to see.

When I click, the thing goes away.

Any way to totally delete this annoying feature other than throwing the mouse away and
getting another Logitech?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Wow I know that feeling. I had a MS mouse that did the same thing. Never could figure out how to stop it from doing that. I search over the internet and never found a answer. Even tried its support site. I ended up getting rid of it and going back to a Logitech.

Often Malware exhibits odd behavior, it's an easy thing to scan for.

AdwCleaner is a two step process. Scan then Clean

Step 1: Download and Scan

Click here to download AdwCleaner (author: Xplode)

Lately I have been having an annoying problem with my wireless mouse. For some reason the pointer will lag, and be very sluggish and jumpy. I've had this mouse on this computer for about a year and I've had no problem. Out of nowhere this problem is happening. I've tried re installing drivers with no luck. I tried uninstalling intellipoint and re-installing it, but when I tried I got the BSOD, and then it completely disabled my mouse and keyboard so I had to use wired peripherals to go in to safe mode and do a system restore. Now everything is working again, except my mouse is still jumpy.

Thanks for any help.

A:Annoying mouse lag - Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500

Erratic behaviour from wireless peripherals, especially keyboards and/or mice, particularly where they were working correctly before, generally points to a dying battery in the peripheral. Have you tried replacing it? If it is rechargeable, it may no longer be holding charge and will also need replacing.

I recently got a Microsoft Mouse 1000 wireless mouse
Great reviews on Amazon - but I'm not impressed
Seems super basic
Wish I'd gone for something else

The scrolling really sucks
When I move the wheel it seems to scroll just one line at a time
I've tried changing general mouse settings and have that set so that scrolling takes 10 lines at a time
This has no effect

Does anyone know how to change?

I need to know whether Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center - Windows 10 differs in any way to the 8.1 version. Specifically with regard to the settings for an Optical Mouse ... does it have a setting whereby I can turn off Vertical Wheel Scrolling ? [see image]

Thanks in advance.

A:Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center - ? vertical wheel scrolling option.

I don't know about your particular mouse, however Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre shows that option for my Microsoft Comfort 6000 mouse. The version installed is (64-bit), which I think is what automatically came through Windows Update when I clean installed Windows 10.

I also just installed (64-bit) from their website and that's the same as the screenshot too.

I don't know if I caught a spyware/virus or what, but when I first launch FF, Go to a page, and it goes to the middle of the page half way down. I cannot scroll back up? IF I drag the side bar up, when I release the mouse button, it goes back down again. It does this right a the beginning. To fix it, I go on some obscure site, then exit, then start up and it goes away.

Anyone experienced this?

My mouse is continuously scrolling right and I'm unable to use the wheel at all. I have a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 using IntelliPoint 8.2. I've already tried reinstalling the drivers and disabling horizontal scrolling. When horizontal scrolling is disabled it'll stop moving to the right, but I'm still unable to use the wheel.

I'm not really sure what might be causing this though. It was working completely fine yesterday. The only thing I can think of is when I opened my laptop today it just shut off. It almost looked like there was a little liquid on the keyboard but as far as I know nothing was spilled on it. Could something have damaged the USB connector or something?

In those programs, in the Mouse part of the Control Panel and in TweakUI for XP, I have it set to scroll 10 lines. Whenever I restart my computer, they stay the same except for TweakUI which resets it to 1 line. I don't know how to make TweakUI stay set at 10 - not exactly a problem to unsettle the world, I know, but annoying . Is there a way to get around this or a similar program to Tweak I could use. I've really become dependent on that little wheel also. If you turn the mouse over, you might find the make and model. It's possible that the wheel is broken or dirty or you need to go into control panel and adjust the mouse properties.

The mouse pad's sensor picks up my fingers when I'm using one finger to move the mouse around the screen.  However, just recently it cannot detect my two fingers and reacts to my two finger scrolling as if it were my one finger moving the mouse.  The weird part is scrolling is the only problem. Dear Clemilishablee
Welcome in Lenovo Forums
Please follow the below steps ,
1- Please go to Control Panel and then Mouse, you?ll see a Device Settings tab, where you can click the Settings button to get into the advanced settings page.
2- Head to Scrolling ?> Two-Finger Scrolling on the left-hand side, where you can enable vertical or horizontal scrolling with two fingers?you?ll probably want to enable the Edge Motion setting as well, which keeps scrolling when your fingers hit the edge of your touchpad.

3- Then to Press on Apply
Please let me know if the issue still persist

Most of the time it doesnt, but sometimes, if my pointer is on a button (close, submit, etc), it automatically clicks it. i am sure that there is nothing pressing the left mouse buttons (the built in ones and the actual mouse i sometimes use) when it happens, so what is going on? the only things in the mouse setting that i have changed is the speed of the pointer, not the double-click speed or anything else.

I have recently begun having problems using the scroll wheel on my wireless mouse.
OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
The scrolling is jerky and jump up occasionally when scrolling down and vice versa making it really difficult to use I have to use the old grab the sidebar to move around accurately.
Less frequently the mouse pointer starts drifting around the screen on it's own, but it's the scrolling that is really irritating.
Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling device, changing mouse settings around, changing batteries and moving the usb dongle to a different port - but nothing seems to help.
The mouse is part of a wireless deskset, a Xenta HK-3518B + M-3301 and is only a few weeks old and has fresh batteries.
My previous wireless mouse broke but never experienced this issue once in more than 4 years use.

Someone out there must have had issues like this so I would appreciate some help.

Hi All

Sometimes I get this annoying problem. My mouse scrolls fine(smooth) most of the time, but sometimes
it scrolls jumpy(skips a few lines each scroll). I did set the mouse wheel options in Control Panel to 1 line per scroll(after this issue automatically appeared), which is the min, but this problem occurs without any changes made by myself.

It happens in my browser and all other apps I run on the PC (photoshop, Windows Explorer etc)

If I reboot my PC, the problem is gone. How can I solve this mouse scrolling jumping issue?

I use the Logitech Laser mouse that comes with the LX710. Recently it started doing something strange when scrolling (in Win Explorer) a folder with many files: rather than scroll, moving the wheel jumps you to the end of the file list, or back to the beginning. Scrolling cannot be done. On the other hand, when going into a Word folder with many files, the scrolling feature functions perfectly. At the suggestion of Logitech I have put in new batteries, changed the USB port, and uninstalled Set Point. Nothing has resolved the issue.

A:Screen/mouse selection Scrolling up

Forgot to inform one last thing...this usually happens on Windows startup.
When The computer boots, and when u press DEL key to enter into BIOS, you get a list of options. You generally use the arrow keys to make a selection. But However, when i press Delete, the selections are highlighted one after the other from BOTTOM to TOP, as if scrolling backwards.

Also when you press F8 key, you get the black screen to select operating system. On this screen the highlighted text scrolls up/down continuously. Since i have only one operating system, i never got this screen before. Now i have to choose with arrow key or press Enter Key inorder to start WindowsXP. Once i get the Startmenu n desktop loaded, it again starts scrolling from bottom to top and its therefore difficult to double-click on any icon on desktop.

Hope this helps!

I'm using either Firefox or Seamonkey as I like the way I can change font size and text colour in text boxes. I use a particular website (sort of social media) and it has a box showing the Top Ten latest posts scrolling up the screen. What should happen is that if I hover the mouse pointer over a post the scrolling should stop. But with these browsers it doesn't, so I have to chase the text up the screen to try and stop it! Using the mouse pad also fails.

Now, if I use Chrome or IE, this doesn't happen. I've tried different mice but they all fail the same way. Is this a Mozilla problem or is there a way I can sort it? Just the other day, i believe yesterday the scrolling on my mouse trackpad did work. But today, whenever I try and use it it messes up.

First of all this is an HP pavilion.
When i press my finger again the track pad, it does nothing for like 5 seconds, then it scrolls. Like a delayed reaction. I have no clue what's wrong with it. Anyone help me?

Hi Thanks in advance for any help I've run into a very frustrating situation Background I bought and attempted to install a Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman trackball mouse It did and yesterday now no scrolling. BSOD mouse not install automatically as advertised and I did a lot of BSOD yesterday and now no mouse scrolling. restarting trying to get it to work BSOD yesterday and now no mouse scrolling. In the process it also broke one of my other installed pointing devices a Trackbar E-Motion Eventually I was able to re-download and install the drivers for the Trackbar but the Trackman never worked It's also worth noting BSOD yesterday and now no mouse scrolling. that I also use the regular -button HP wired mouse that came with the computer The only model given is quot Modguo quot I can't find any driver downloads for it Crash Yesterday I woke up and the monitor would not come out of sleep mode even thought the computer was on After a hard reboot I checked the minidump and sure enough it had BSOD'd over night The Weirdness Ever since the crash I cannot use my scroll wheel in Firefox or Goggle Chrome It works in every single other application on my computer Same symptoms with both my mouse and my trackbar I can click the wheel to close tabs and such just no scrolling I scanned with spybot and MSE both found a small number of items I can't find any logs from MSE and the history tab is empty if someone can tell me how to find those logs I will provide them That's it I just really want my scroll wheel to work in Firefox and Chrome again System info Win bit Original install from HP OEM Just over year old No OS reinstalls

A:BSOD yesterday and now no mouse scrolling.

Update: Another program I use daily, Komodo Edit IDE, has lost mouse-wheel support in front of my eyes. As in, I opened it and scrolled down and breathed a sigh of releif when it worked (I need this program for work all day every day). I then alt-tabbed around between Firefox and Chrome, only to come back to Komodo and find that the mouse wheel no longer works!

Same symptoms as the other programs - clicking the wheel works, but scrolling does not.

This is with both my mouse and my trackbar pointing device.

The scroll wheel still works in Windows Explorer.

Thanks to anybody who wants to try to help me out, this is becoming a nuisance for me!

Hi there!

I upgraded my above Notebook to Windows 10 early April this year.
So far no problem. Everything worked fine. Everything.
Early last week Microsoft installed automatically some updates. I hate them for this way of "support".
From that minute no scolling either with the touchpad nor with the original Toshiba mouse possible.
Microsoft is not able to resolve the problem.
Any idea?

Following the last windows update I had an issue where my Logitech Mouse (actually Mice, I tried more than one ) would not scroll correctly in the Start menu area.

The scrolling worked everywhere else that I tried and actually worked if I pointed the mouse at the scroll bars

I have found the fix and thought I would share as Logitech hardware is popular

Open the Start Menu and navigate to Settings - Devices - Mouse & Touchpad and make sure that the "Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them" option is ticked.

It cleared my issue instantly, I can only assume that the status of this option was either added or reversed by an update as it always used to work

Hope this helps

Hello. I am currently having a problem with my wired CMSTORM Devastator mouse. Whenever I scroll down, it jitters up. Whenever I scroll up, it jitters down. I do not know what is causing the problem. The outside of my mouse is clean, the driver is up-to-date, and I will not use a vacuum in an attempt to suck up the debris/junk inside the mouse interfering with the sensor unless it is a last resort.

What is my problem? How can I solve it?

The mouse is an MS Wireless 3500 with the latest drivers and mouseware from Microsoft and plugged into an HP G72 laptop.

If it is just the wheel that is making things jump I would think you have garbage inside and arround the wheel sensor. Over time junk gets down there. If you can you may have to dissassemble the mouse and look at the wheel sensor.

Hi there,

Ever since a few days ago I have been experiencing problems my mouse scrolling wheel. Basicly it does not scroll at all.

Scrolling up or down simply doesn't work, with ONE exception. It works perfectly in Internet Explorer, I could outscroll any playah in IE. But everywhere else, be it Google Chrome, Firefox, Photoshop or whatever, it simply doesn't react to anything.

I have tried using different mice, and the problem persists with all of them. I have tried upgrading to the latest version of IntelliPoint and checked its settings, I have unplugged the mouse and plugged it back in, but all to no avail.

Anyone able to lend me a hand with this?

Have you checked the scroll wheel properties in the mouse software?
Relevancy 53.32%

First of all: yes, I'm fully aware that the drivers for the Apple magic mouse are not official.
I've installed the extracted copy of the drivers from the imac update which has the Magic mouse working fine with left-right click and vertical scrolling working.
problem is, only Google Chrome and some preferences and whatnot seem to recognize the horizontal scrolling, but not Live Mail.
I've tried installing the Intellipoint software and setting it as the Sidewinder x8 with no change and even the "Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000" because it is a Bluetooth mouse also (I didn't find out until now - I just saw the included dongle and never looked at it again, but if I had known it was Bluetooth I would have bought that instead) and horizontal scrolling still doesn't work consistently.
anybody know about this?

How can I fix it? without restarting the PC (Cause restarting helps, but restarting every time is annoying)

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

What sort of mouse are you using?. I am using a Logitech TrackMan Wheel mouse & horizontal scrolling can be found by opening Control Panel, select Mouse & one of the tabs is called Wheel, select that & you should see a panel for Horizontal Scrolling. Adjust the number to zero & see if that cures your problem.

A:Enabling 4 way scrolling with Magic Mouse

Hello Ryan996 Welcome to the Ten Forums!

To be right up front I can't say that I am familiar with the mouse you have there but did end up buying a few dual scroll wheel trackball mice by one company I ended up using on not only the second desktop but a few laptops carrying one with each for use instead of the wear and tear on the touchpads! One older laptop saw a pad where a heavy finger just about made that totally useless! The trackball with the dual scroll wheels of course makes portability a bit easier since all you need is a small flat surface to rest the mouse on. There's no need for drivers since the mouse has the one drawback of 5 buttons but not programmable and works on the Linux as well as Windows platform. Welcome to driver

Believe it or not the previous Trackball mouse here was an MS Trackball Explorer MS suddenly discontinued several years back that saw programmable button as well as 64bit 7 drivers as the last from the support if not 64bit for Vista which still worked on 7. The left click on that and this particular mouse is by thumb not the right index finger as your standard mouse would be however. The trackball sees the index finger instead rather then the need to move the mouse around on any surface.

Now for instruction about the only to be found on the other OS's mouse you have there one guide for that model on hot to fix scrolling problems might be a help but by comparing notes with how the Control Panel in Windows works except the Mouse>Wheel settings in Windows are strictly for setting how many vertical characters and lines are moved per scroll. That wouldn't any help at all for you there with this. How-to Fix Scrolling on the Magic Mouse How-To Apple

Im using a Logitech Optical Mouse. Everything was working okay, until one day, when the scrolling stopped.

When im using Firefox, it scrolls like 3 lines when the wheel does a full rotation, then it stops working. In game, it doesnt function at all.

Now, when im highlighting text, it acts like I let go of the left button and clicked again, when I didnt. When im dragging an item across the desktop, it does the same thing. Like if something is telling the mouse to stop what its doing every few seconds.

Also, when I click something once, it sometimes reads it as twice.

So when I want to drag something, it lets it go and opens it up when I still had the left mouse button down.

This has gotten very annoying. Any help with this is greatly appriciated.

man oh man, this is a part of a MUCH LARGER conversation posted over the past week, concerning a really annoying problem i'm having with scrolling in windows. i thought the problem was the result of malware effects originally, but it turns out it has something to do with mechanics of my computer. essentially, my scrolling is super choppy; whether i use the scroll bar on the right or the wheel on my mouse, it reacts VERY slow and the window shifts down and up disjointed. the rest of my computer's performance is perfectly fine and moves as quickly as it should. see the last 4 or 5 posts in my conversation with Old Timer for more details:

A:choppy's not the mouse, me thinks.

Several options come to mind. tools/internet options/advanced/ scrool(that's a choppy scroll) down around the bottom and make sure to "enable smooth scrolling". If that doesn't work, clean the mouse, open control panel, select mouse and diddle with the settings until the pointer is moving smoothly. If all that doesn't work, roll back your driver.

A:Mouse/ speaker buzz/ scrolling

Grounding would have been my first port of call but since you have obviously taken steps to rule this out it brings us to EMI.

Does it sound like the usual 50hz buzz from the electrical supply? To rule this out please try routing all AC power cables so they do not run alongside any data cables (specificly the firewire cable).

Is the firewire cable fully shielded? Unfortunately this is something your not likely to know and cant really find out without stripping the insulation and looking for the foil wrapper (not recommended).

Your indication that the noise is worse when the system is under load could indicate the interference is coming from either the PSU or another system fan e.g. CPU or GPU. Since the cooler master silent pro fan is usually idle (or should be) you will be able to rule it out by seeing if the noise is there when it's idle and then putting the system under load (perhaps prime95) and seeing if the noise starts at the same time as the PSU fan (if you smoke, a lit cigarette can be a great indicator of fan activity).

You could also check the connections for the Zalman cooler, is it a 3 pin cable on a 3pin head and is it secure?

Do you have an alternative firewire port to plug you soundcard into incase it's a grounding fault in the port itself?

Plenty to keep you busy there!
Good Luck!

Any ideas?

A:MS Wireless Mouse 5000 - Poor scrolling

I have two MS 5000 but I still don't know what flaky means. First thing is to make sure you install 2 new batteries in the correct fashion. Use the little pictures inside the mouse. They will work with one battery being bad but not well. They will also work with one battery in backwards but not correct. Here is a simple test for the batteries. Install one battery and if the blue light is bright its a good battery. Then check the next one the same way. One at a time. When the batteries get really weak a little light will flash on the top of the mouse. Now when you no your batteries are good and installed properly try it again. Next thing I'm thinking of is what pages you are scrolling on. Your mouse doesn't know a Firefox page from a Safari page. Because it is a Microsoft mouse you can check Windows Updates and see if it list and new drivers for the mouse.

A:Mouse functionality with scrolling and highlighting impaired

Check your operating system's mouse pointer settings in Control Panel and try lowering the speed under the Pointer Options tab. When set too fast, the mouse may jump all over the desktop at the slightest touch. If you have a wireless mouse, low batteries can result in weak, mixed or no signals that can affect its functionality so start by replacing them. If you are using a ball mouse, remove it and clean the rollers as dirt and gunk will cause erratic behavior. If its an optical mouse, "jumpiness" and "jerky" movements can result if using it on a glossy surface or reflective mouse pad. In some cases using multiple or uneven mouse pads can produce the same results. As a test, try placing it on a piece of newspaper or rubberized pad to see if that resolves the problem. If that does not help, confirm that the mouse works on another machine. It is possible the mouse could be defective or has gone bad. Another thing to try is to use a different mouse or a PS2 adapter if its a USB mouse.

NOTE I posted this on the LogiTech forums yesterday but after a disappointing hours without a single reply I am posting it here Therefore quot yesterday quot in the note below would now be day before yesterday ---------------------------------------------- I have a G Laser Mouse corded which is a couple years old and much loved by me Yesterday it started scrolling on its own I initially thought this was a Firefox problem since I had just gotten a Firefox update a few hours earlier and further because the scrolling continued even if I unplugged the mouse but as I began to diagnose the problem it became clear that it was mouse-related not Firefox-related Let me describe the problem as phantom - the mouse auto-scrolling in Ghost best I can The number of lines that are scrolled Ghost in the mouse - phantom auto-scrolling down is controlled by the Mouse settings in the Control Panel I have set the Vertical Scrolling value under the quot Wheel quot tab to which is the lowest value allowable - this is the least irritating It would a nice work-around if I could enter a zero here or click a button to turn off mouse scrolling but it does Ghost in the mouse - phantom auto-scrolling not let me do that The problem occurs in Firefox Notepad my old programming editor Ultra-Edit the Windows Start Menu and even in World of Warcraft What is really maddening in WoW is that the mouse scrollwheel controls camera zoom in out so this problem causes the camera to slowly zoom in until it is at its closest which means you can't see anything I initially thought the problem did not occur in MS Windows Explorer but after I used it a bit - scrolled up and down a bit - the problem started happening there too This quot phantom auto-scroll quot even occurs horizontally in the right pane of the Windows File Manager if a horizontal scroll bar is present The problem quot stops and starts quot I have been unable to determine the details of this - sometimes it will stop scrolling for a while but it always starts back up at some point I'm pretty sure that it has to do with mouse focus though because I have determined that if I move the mouse cursor out of the window where the scrolling is going on and click on some other item outside that window the scrolling stops I have to actually click on something else - if I just move the cursor outside the current window focus remains in that window and the scrolling continues - further if I return focus to the problem window with Alt-Tab leaving the mouse cursor outside said window the scrolling starts up again Another reason that I say it has to do with quot mouse focus quot this may just be a term I made up but if so you should be able to determine what I mean is that the problem continues if I unplug the mouse My theory is that this is because the quot mouse focus quot still remains Sorry for my home-brewed technical jargon but I am just trying to describe what is happening I kinda want to say that typing stops it I just typed the paragraph above this one and there was no quot phantom scrolling quot while I was typing I then sat back and began to proofread what I had written and after - seconds I tested this times and timed it it started scrolling again How's that for strange As I said Firefox upgraded itself to yesterday The only other recent changes to my system are that I also got a Java Console update yesterday and Windows Update installed quot Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows Vista KB quot at this morning I am running Windows Vista Home Basic SP on a Toshiba Satellite L with a Celeron gHz CPU and GB of RAM I originally went to the Logitech site thinking that I might download a new mouse driver from it but I cannot find any information on that I did the automatic mouse detection but the page it left me on although it says quot Support Downloads quot above the picture of my mouse does not offer any downloads or driver information that I can find Anyway this is having an extremely deleteriou... A:Ghost in the mouse - phantom auto-scrolling

I know this will sound very obvious but have you checked for dust and crumbs around the scroll wheel of the mouse? This to me sounds like the most likely cause of this problem.

This is a good place to start, be thorough with your cleaning and also check for any kinks in the mouse cable.

Post back with any results.

This happens virtually everyday on this new computer I got at work.

Suddenly when I'm in the process of scrolling the page using mouse wheel (either browser, or microsoft word document, etc) the screen blinks for a fraction of second, and the whole system shuts down as if somebody pulled the plug out, and then immediately restarts showing dialogue of whether I want to start windows normally or in the safe mode.

I have looked in the event logs but the only thing it tells me there is that there was an unexpected shutdown. The same in that reliability place.

Has anyone come across this, what could be the problem and how I would diagnose it? I cannot replicate it at will, as it only happens occasionally when scrolling, at other times scrolling is fine and does not produce this result.

Many thanks.

The system is Windows 7 enterprise 64bit, the mouse is Microsoft bluetrack technology

Are you able to try a different mouse with your system in order to ascertain whether the mouse is the culprit. If your problem persists with a different mouse, then we can rule that out.

Hi I have a very strange and annoying problem I bought a new mouse A tech Bloody V I installed the software and everything seemed to be working fine Then my PC went into the sleep mode and when I woke it up I realised that the mouse scroll doesn't work I restarted the PC and it was ok again I thought it was a one time bug but then I found out that everytime the PC goes into the sleep mode often the mouse stops scrolling Now the mouse software has some very specific features There are cores that you can switch between and each of them gives the mouse some new features such as specific button features etc When the mouse stops working and I open the software and change the core from to or the other way round not - resetting speed Mouse scrolling, problems the cores quot reset quot and the mouse starts working again So you might think that the software is bad Well it isn't Mouse problems - not scrolling, resetting speed I deleted the software to see if the issue still persists and it does Regardless of the SW being installed or not the mouse gets bugged after the PC goes into the sleep mode So I tried to test it on my notebook to see if the mouse if faulty But it works perfectly fine on my ntb With the SW not being installed on my ntb the mouse works even after sleep mode With the software installed it works too But as soon as I plug it to my PC it gets crappy But this would still be sufferable but now since a few days back whenever I boot the PC after it has been turned off the mouse DPI settings are set to the minimum which resutls in the mouse Mouse problems - not scrolling, resetting speed cursor moving atrociously slowly but if I try to change the DPI settings to higher with the button on the mouse guess what it Mouse problems - not scrolling, resetting speed doesn't work Doesn't react at all Also the scroll doesn't work sometimes even on boot So I have to open the mouse software even though it starts up on the boot reset the cores again and then the speed and scroll work The worst part it that I know how to fix it but I'm leaving for a year abroad and my mom uses the PC too And she is not gonna reset the freaking cores every time she turns the PC on for the mouse to work Problem is that I can't refund it because it works perfectly fine on my NTB so it's not the mouse's problem it has to be something in my system Both my PC and NTB are running Win version The mouse sw is the latest version on both PC and NTB too But something on my PC keeps messing up with the mouse and I can't find out what it is Any help What I have already tried reinstalling the SWtried a different USB slottried the mouse without the SW being installeddifferent SW versiontested the mouse on my NTB it works there perfectly none of the above works

Hi All!
I have a problem with the scrolling speed of my mouse. It's a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0A model 1008. It seems to scroll more than the top 3 lines at a time, although the setting is at 1 line.
Another thing is that when I scroll down, the page seems to return to a previous position, so it momentarily scrolls back a bit.
Any ideas?
Looking forward to your enlightenment.

I am running the RC build dual booted with XP When I first installed the RC it recognized my Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse as an HID Compliant Device Mouse Properties showed a tab for 'Wheel' and allowed me to set the number of lines for scrolling Unfortunately it would not let me assign an action to the wheel button or the magnify button But it did scroll smoothly no matter what application I was Comfort Scrolling Optical Mouse Problem running Especially important to me was that it allowed scrolling row by row down an Excel spreadsheet In an attempt to get the wheel and magnify buttons to work I installed the Vista Comfort Optical Mouse driver Now Comfort Optical Mouse Scrolling Problem the wheel and magnify buttons can be assigned functions BUT scrolling with the wheel in Excel scrolls lines at a time The same is true for several other places Mouse Properties does not offer 'Wheel' tab but does offer a 'Scrolling' tab That tab just gives me a chance to adjust the scrolling rate but not the number of lines Is there a driver that will allow me Comfort Optical Mouse Scrolling Problem to adjust the number of scroll lines as well as assign functions to the wheel and magnify buttons Maybe another type of mouse is in order but I really don't want to spend the money right now Thank you very much

A:Comfort Optical Mouse Scrolling Problem

Well here I am again to report all is well now.

I found the driver I was looking for in the most unlikely place. Microsoft Shop. I was looking for a replacement mouse and found the Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 was shown to be Windows 7 compatible. I downloaded the driver which seemed to be newer than the one I had. It took me a few minutes to get it set up the best I could and it worked acceptably. Scrolling with the wheel is not quite as smooth as it is under XP but it will do. Best of all -- No crashes yet!

Further update... Everything SEEMED to be working ok for a bit, then while in the middle of playing a game, both my logitech mouse and keyboard stopped functioning. Keyboard went nuts flashing lights on and off. Mouse also would power down then up then down almost like morse code but it would not respond.

It also happened while I booted to look at the BIOS. But oddly, now that I'm running in safe mode, both mouse and keyboard look fine. I'm still at a loss of what to do atm and need help. If it were just the mouse, I would say that I need a new mouse. I next guessed that it was the USB ports on my PC or power or something like that. But the fact that everything seems to work in safe mode suggests maybe I still have some other issue maybe related to the malware problem.

Hello SputnikNYC and welcome to the Forum. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your question but isn't smooth scrolling a mouse or touchpad function? On my laptop I have a Synaptics touchpad and it supports smooth scrolling in Windows 7.

Hello, I have a problem: I own a notebook, the one in the topic of course, and i noticed a problem.
Sometimes, the mouse pointer blocks while moving, while using normal windows 7 desktop. When I play a game like medieval 2 total war, instead, the mouse pointer blocks more often and for longer. What it could be?
Another thing, more a graphic matter than a real problem: when i drag any window on the desktop, the horizontal edges in the windows (both windows' and program's horizontal lines (for example, the horizontal lines in this forum)) become fuzzy , zig zag, but only while dragging. What could it be?

Need any software that will let me choose what sound to play when I scroll the mouse wheel, besides Autohotkey, help hugely appreciated

A:Software to play a sound when scrolling mouse wheel?

You know what?, I use StrokesPlus:
StrokesPlus - Free Mouse Gestures for Windows XP/Vista/7/8
I used before JustGestures:
Just Gestures - Mouse Gestures for Windows
But prefer Strokes over JustGestures, for the reason that StrokesPlus has a portable option, and I prefer it that way. Any of these programs let's you customize the entire mouse functionality. Now, about the sound, StrokesPlus it's more customizable than JustGestures, but it requires some knowledge of LUA scripting, so what you want may be accomplished (plus more mouse functions), but may be complicated. I don't know if this helps, but I recommend you these anyway.

This is really annoying when taking a test via online. I have alot of questions to answer and this is how it happens.

On any question, I can click a bubble to select it. When I scroll, it will scroll up and down from the bubbles. What setting is this?

Other people are able to scroll up and down the page, so I know its not a problem with the actual website.

I am using a regular dell mouse. No logitech setpoint, no other advanced settings, and a fresh image. Happens on all browsers, IE, FFox, and chrome.

If I don't click a bubble, I am able to scroll the page. Once I click the bubble, it will scroll through those answer fields... Help or direction plz?

not by itself, that is.
but all of a sudden, when i move the wheel down 1 notch, the document/page goes down just like i clicked the center of the scrollbar.
i'd like it to behave like i just clicked the down or up button at the bottom/top of the scrollbar (what can i say? i'm a control freak).
i already have the mouse wheel speed set to the slowest in settings (and have accelerated scrolling disabled).
this isn't an "end of the world" situation, just a major annoyance.

any thoughts?

Hello guys, I was hoping you could give me some help.

Today my computer let me know I had to perform some updates, so I left it installing those updates since I knew it would shut down after.

I come home from work, and now whenever I use the scroll wheel to use smooth scrolling (clicking the scroll wheel) it is incredibly laggy in certain websites, it will not move at all unless I keep moving the mouse, but that is not how it should work. This only happens in ''intensive'' sites and when a video is running the video will stop until I stop trying to smooth scroll.

The only difference from happening minutes before the updates and right now... are the updates.

I don't know which ones were installed, so I guess bad me for not keeping track of that, but is it even normal?

Thanks for your time.

A:Latest Microsoft Updates messed up Scrolling

Okay, just found out what the issue might be, and it's incredibly stupid.

Whenever I zoom in a page with firefox just one value higher than the default zoom, scrolling will be incredibly laggy, but if I go back to default zoom it's fine again.

This is incredibly stupid to be affected by a windows update, but this did NOT happen before.
