Flashdisk Recovery Issue

Q: Flashdisk Recovery Issue

ok so ive been reading some threads and nothing really has helped me out because this is a very specific issue so i figured i should start one of my own ok first i have a Cruzer GB micro flashdisk and up until yesterday it has worked fine about Recovery Issue Flashdisk a week ago i saved a few files to it like i have done many times before and it seemed that everything worked fine then days ago i saved another file to it the first batched that i saved were still there and that too seemed to work out fine then yesterday i went to open the more recently saved file and it was nowhere to be found similarly the files that i saved a week prior were missing as well as far as i could tell all Flashdisk Recovery Issue of the other files on the flashdisk are still intact and operational just these files or so are missing now this is where it gets a little tricky i use a Mac but the files that i Flashdisk Recovery Issue needed to save to my computer were on a PC so i stuck my flashdisk in the PC and saved them i have done this many times and i dont think this is an issue however on the PC Vista i ran the included recovery program to look for damaged sectors of my flashdisk on completion it said it found files that were messed up im assuming the files i need were in this batch and they were placed into a folder named quot Found quot on my flashdisk well i was happy about this but when i looked in my flashdisk there was no folder named quot found quot i searched my flashdisk as well as the computer for the folder and nothing came up i ran the retrieval software again and it said the flashdisk was fine and there were no damaged files so that was that THEN a little while later i placed my flashdisk in my Mac and low and behold there is a folder named quot Found quot and it has files in it these files have the extension CHK so im assuming i need to convert them or something to that nature however i cannot find a program that will open these CHK files that is compatible with Mac i cant install any software onto the PC because it is my schools anyway any help would be very appreciated as having these files will save me about hours of time because i wont have to do them again Thank you and i apologize for the long post nbsp

Preferred Solution: Flashdisk Recovery Issue

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

On a Windows PC you can use a utility such as CHK-Mate to try to recover data from the files. No guarantees this will work though.

Hello all!!!!
I find my flash disk JetFlash TS2GJFV20 (2GB) giving problem everynow and then. Even just few MBs let say 300 MB of files are stored and when I try to copy another file, it says "Can not copy:cannot create directory/folder in destination disk". Such things happen for 4th time from last 6 months I am using. I format it, again it starts working and again after some 200 MBs of files, the same message. The same thing happens now, just after 44 MBs of file in disk, it gives this message.
If I delete some files, and copy the less size of file, it gets copy and after that again same message.
Could anyone pls tell me how to rectify this? What is the problem with this?

Thanks

A:FlashDisk

I suspect there is no problem, just the limitation of the FAT file system.

The root directory can only hold a certain number of files. Here's some remedial reading.

http://home.freeuk.com/foxy2k/disk/disk6.htm

If you create a folder on the disk, you can put an unlimited amount of files in it, up to the disk capacity.

I have a flashdisk with 128M space,it has a wierd problem.
When I get my flashdisk pluged in the USB port a popup window tells that the USB device is not recognized, but after being pulled out and pluged again and again, about 5 or 6 times,it is recogonized and works fine.
If my flashdisk is pluged in other computers it works fine, and other flashdisk works fine on my commputer.
what's going on with my flashdisk?

Does the drive appear with the normal icon in Computer?

Right-click the drive and look at Properties. Does it say that it opens with any program?

Try right-clicking and Explore. Can you access the disk?

I have a ten year old computer which operates on Windows 98. I have just bought a new machine running Windows Vista and simply wish to transfer a few files and some photographs from the old to the new. An easy transfer cable was recommended but I haven't an ethernet connection on the old, so was sold a 2gb flashdisk in Comet Store which I was assured would operate in any USB. However, I have written to Comet and they inform me that the item is only compatible with Windows 98 2nd edition and above. I have tried to locate drivers on my old PC and device manager/pci/usb universal host/root hub tells me that the device is working properly !!
Any chance that it will and if so how ?? Failing that is there a flashdisk that is compatible with Windows 98 ?? Thanks, in anticipation. Paul

I have a flashdisk that has a recording in mp format of a show I did---its the only recording Recover? problem--Mp3 Flashdisk Corrupt When I Corrupt Flashdisk problem--Mp3 Recover? try to pull the file off the flashdisk it gets to about then stops completely Force quit doesnt work and windows explorer crashes This also happens at about minute five out of minutes when I play it in quicktime windows media it doesnt even start and glitches itunes and for some odd reason it works fine in real player all the way through provided I dont jump around much on playback Since it worked in real player I assumed that all the data was there it was just something corrupt in the mp file so I used this forum to find a sort of similar problem that suggested using mp repair tool that removes frames from the beginning of the song I'm ok to lose - minutes to have the rest of it It glitches out at the same spot roughly in I've tried opening it with numerous editors as well Fed up I took it to geek squad to see if they had any better ideas After five hours they called me and told me that the flashdisk had corrupted hardware and that they could recover it for by sending it to a data recovery place I'm just wondering if there is some way to cut the mp into pieces without opening it or taking it off my flashdisk because any program besides Real Player hasn't been able to play or load or move the file Is there a program that could read the mp the same way RealPlayer is and then cut the beginning off this is probably the wrong place to post this but I didnt see accessory support

A:Corrupt Flashdisk problem--Mp3 Recover?

There's no way to recover the entire file, however you can re-record it. Search Google for software that can use your speakers as inputs (Like a microphone would) and play the song back with Real Player while recording it. This isn't technically data recovery but it should work.

I get a message that Windows failed.
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

It instructs me to insert the windows installation disc, restart, and run "repair your computer". However, I did not receive an installation disc, only a utilities disk (which does not boot)
What do I do now?

A:Inspiron M5030 recovery boot issue. Recovery disk does full restore and starts Win7, which operates fine. But on restart, windows will not boot.

1. Reseat the hard disk drives, reseat the controller and monitor. 2. Perform chkdsk /r on the RAID volume. 3. Run diagnostics on the hard disk drives and controller and replace as necessary.

It's a 512 MB waterproof flashdisk. It worked prior to my update to WINXP SP2.

Now it doesn't show in My Computer when I plug it into the USB2 hub like I usually do (It worked with WINXP sp1, and works on all other winXP spx computers in my house)

I think it has to do with too many drive letters being used. I've seen articles on MicrosoftKDB about flashdisk trouble, but no resolutions.

I've got 2 HDDs on C: and D:, floppy on A:, CDROM on E:, virtual drive on R:, and my external USB2 DVD-RW is on G:

Typically, the USB2 flashdisk shows up on H:. IT doesn't show up anymore, but I can catch it thru "My Computer > right click > Manage > Disk Management.

There's nothing wrong with the hub AFAIK and the flshdisk is fine too.

A:flashdisk plugged in, doesn't show in My Computer, can be "managed".. where'd it go?

Yes, I've read the other flashdisk posts.... I'm just hoping there was a solution for this... as it seems to be a trouble with the WINXP drive assignment.

Hi everyone,

I was having big problems with my computer and had my data backed on on an external hard drive. A seagate replica. All my files are on there so I decided to reformat my computer and do a system recovery using the seagate replica. I got an error message and then after 4 hours of running the program it said the recovery was not successful. Seagate said that the data was corrupt.

I have an HP Pavilion running Windows Home Premium.

Well all my files are on my desktop and in my computer. Most of my programs run and I can get on the internet but microsoft office will not open. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but windows stops working and won't do it.

I ran CheckIt registry cleaner and it found alot of errors but still no help with the Microsoft Office.

Help!

I'm a computer tech trying to fix a user's issue, but I have come to a cross roads and cannot complete the fix. Basically I have an HP system where the hard drive is failing or will fail soon based on SMART test. The user wanted this fixed, so we got a new hard drive and I installed it. We also got the recovery dvd's from HP. When I installed the drive and booted into the recovery media it reports an error "Reducer Application Close [Info No HDD]". This is true for either the failed/failing drive in the system or the brand new hard drive. The self test on the new drive passes just fine. I just can't seem to figure out the solution to install this operating system and get passed the No HDD when the computer self test sees it but not the recovery media.

Any ideas/ suggestions for me?

Hi bringmesunshine and Welcome to Vista Forums.
Did you check the Hidden Files and Folder Under Folder Options.
If you feel you have lost it, try Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File Recovery - Home to recover deleted files.

A:Recovery DVD issue

Extract the ISO file from DVD using ImgBurn, burn to another DVD at 4x speed with Verify. ImgBurn - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Why is it you need to run Factory Recovery if your goal is to Clean Reinstall? Why not just Clean Reinstall following these tips to get a purrfect reinstall of Factory OEM: re-install windows 7

Edit: Running Recovery partition itself from boot is the preferred way to Factory Recover to the same HD as it is more stable. However, I would have the disks or a Win7 installation DVD standing by as a backup since the partition can fail.

I recently attempted to rebulid my Pavilion Notebook using Recovery CD's. The process seemed to work ok on disks 1-3 which I believe are the Operating System; the process failed when attempting to install the 4th disk which appears to be 3rd party apps and drivers. On re-attempt the install seems to be successful after skipping installation of the 4th disk. Question is, what is on the 4th disk and how critical is it to the operations of the laptop?

Hi, this is my first post

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. A few weeks ago I found a Trojan on my laptop and removed this using spyware doctor. Since then I am having an issue with my wireless connection. I tried to repair my wireless connection by right clicking and an error comes back when stating unable to flush DNS. My system freezes up many times after start up and forces me to shut down. What is strange I can get on when I receive a Spam message from Yahoo messenger. Also the start up is very slow. I tried to run the recovery disc but comes back with a corrupt error when trying to run.

Does anyone have any advice?

A:Recovery Disc issue

Welcome to TSF....

First thing I would suggest is to do a backup of all of the important data on your computer to another media like CD-R, DVD or other media that you prefer to avoid data loose. After that I would then do a complete restore using the recovery disk set for the computer, this will make all of the data dissappear from the computer since it will format the hard drive. WHen this is done any part of the infection you had will be gone and you can then re-install all programming, windows update, service pack(s) and data.

Just wanted to say hello, I do not know very much about computers but am trying to learn. I am currently working on my old computer which has Windows 7, I was having a problem with windows, that when I tried to log on it said that it was trying to do a system repair and then shut down. so I did a reinstall and ended up with two Window 7 programs. I was able to delete one, however now it is saying that the recovery disc is almost full. I have done a defrag, and that did not clear any space and wondered if there was anything I could do to clear space for if there was any other option for me. Thank you for advice that you can give me Julie

Wow what a mess I have created OK So I wanted to re-format my hard drive on my laptop due to the fact that its just become extemely slow over the past few year So I backed up everything I thought I needed to and re-formatted OOPS I missed some huge things I re-installed about - gigs of stuff onto the gig harddrive before I realized it So now I have tried different programs to recover the old files GetDataBack EasyRecovery Pro and I did a free scan with Data Recovery Pro In all cases They retrieve about gigs of what was almost a full harddrive However the gigs consist of many duplicate files they are all disorganized and I have to go through about folders named simplistic things like DIR Recovery Issue. Please Format Help DIR DIR etc In the end I only recovered about of the files I was looking to get back The most important bieng an outlook PST file Anyways I just feel with all the people Ive read about having great success with these programs that I must be doing something wrong or maybe there is a better program I just dont get it These programs claim they can get all this Format Recovery Issue. Please Help stuff back and other people do fine with them Any recommendations Any help or assistance that anyone can offer is much appreciated Thanks

A:Format Recovery Issue. Please Help

Deleted files are saved in the background, but the space they occupy is usable. Meaning, if you download a new file, install a new program, etc..., the space will be used and the deleted file will be gone for good. As far as I know. When you reinstalled that 5-6 gigs, you were overwriting files you now want to recover. Not sure what you can do at this point to get them back. If you read up on data recovery, you'll find that you really have to use it with care and rather quickly.

I have a computer that when sold had windows 8 on it. it was later upgraded to windows 8.1. This is a Dell Inspiron 3537 laptop. It is in need of a factory reset, the owners did not create recovery disk. And the recovery program does not work after the 8.1 upgrade! I am told the recovery partition is corrupt or missing. is there still a way I can use the win. 8 recovery partition?

Another thing, possibly related: I've been trying to run CHKDSK on reboot (2-3 times now) and it briefly goes to blue screen/looks as if it is loading, and then abruptly quits and continues to the Windows Login screen.

I have been trying to find the event in the event viewer, but I can't find anything referencing chkdsk from the latest boot, and when I look at events with "Winlogon" as the source, there's nothing at all recent.

Sorry if this isn't the right forum for this but at least it's an XP question and Im kinda in a rush for an answer Alright here's the situation Data Recovery issue And sorry it's long I'm trying to be detailed I'm trying to recover a Word file for my gf that's about pages long Im reasonably confidant that I've figured out how the file was removed but Im not so sure how to recover it began editing a version of the Data Recovery issue document about pages saved a version of this document with the same name to a different folder finished editing document Now there is one page and one page document with the same name in different folders copied original page document to new folder overwriting new page document I have tried A UnDelete a program off the web that recovers deleted files It didn't work assumedly because the file wasn't deleted in a conventional manner ie sent to the recycle bin and or because a file with that name still existed B System Restore to a point about midway through the editing process This produced one interesting anomaly When the still page document was opened Word gave me some sort of side-bar about a different version of the file that appeared larger in size and seemed like it might be a more recent update But when i tried to open it Windows told me the file no longer existed presumably for some reason Windows wasn't pointing to the right file anymore C Searching for all files updated in the past several days to make sure the name or extension wasnt drastically changed by accident So I'm reasonably sure that if I had the necessary tool the file will still be intact since no major installations or anything would have overwritten what should still be an intact though unreachable area of the Hard Disk Is there a program or method that will find something like an quot overwritten quot or otherwise unreachable file I know professional data recovery people do this kind of thing but that's a bit drastic For the record I'm fairly technically competent so I can understand a fairly complex solution

A:Data Recovery issue

It's one thing to "delete" a file, but it is another thing to overwrite it. If the file is truly overwritten with new data, then you probably won't be able to recover it through ordinary means. In any case, you might want to take a look at Restoration and PC Inspector.

You are posting in the Windows 2000 forum, I have edited your title and moved your post to the Windows 7 forum for better results.
It sounds like your HDD has major issues. On another computer download the ISO Image for Seatools in my signature and burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD and run the Short and Long tests on the Drive. If either fail then the drive needs to be replaced.

I have a WD 2tb external hard drive that now says RAW instead of NTFS. I have bought Easeus Data Recovery Wizard. I tried to scan the files. But for some reason it was interrupted during the scan so it only got some of the data. I went ahead and recovered what it had. Everything was empty and had a size of 0kb. They said this happens sometimes when a scan is interrupted. They guess there is some connection issues between the lost data hard drive and computer. They suggest you
could connect the lost data hard drive to your computer by SATA cable to make it be connected stable. Is this possible? They have a tutorial on how to slave a hard drive but it doesn't seem to be about an external drive. I am not very computer oriented. I really don't know where to go from here. Thanks for any help you can give me.

One of my users got the Windows XP Recovery "virus" last evening. He was RDCed into his desktop from home. I looked this morning and recognized it was not really a hard drive failure. I looked at the guide which suggested removing the Hidden attribute and running Anti-MalwareBytes (which I did). I ran it twice which returned diseased files. I cleaned it. I still can't get IE to work, etc. Where do I go from here?

Thanks,

Hi all
Okay, I picked up an emachine w3502 that is infected with spyware and viruses badly. I figure a restore is in order. I make the recovery disc. and use the system recovery link.

it boots into the recovery process, when it opens, it says recovery partition is incomplete and asks for the disc. it copies files and asks for disc 2, it copies files and repeats the process. copies then asks for the other disc, over and over.
I assume that both the discs I made and the recovery partition are corrupt. I have also tried to boot from the CD and it also has the same results.

Any thoughts?
Thanks
Ron

Did you create a new Partition for Win7 or are you overwriting Vista?

Did you boot the Win7 installer to do the install and use any of the Drive Option tools like Delete, Create or Format?

How do you know that installation went through without issue? Did you get to set up your named User Account or desktop?

When exactly are you hit with the error message - after what exact step in installation:

Hi there,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move.

My brother shrinked his laptop drive by 100GB and then made a new partition from that which he backed up data onto in order to format Windows for a fresh install. When installing he did diskpart and used the following commands which wiped out the 100GB Data partition and continued to install Windows without realising this.

- Diskpart
- List Disk
- Select Disk 0
- Clean
- Create Primary Partition
- Format Quick FS=NTFS
- Exit

Which as mentioned he then proceeded to install Windows 7. Is there any chance to recover this lost data as it was pictures of his child and a few videos of him as well as some data files.

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

Basically, I did a system recover and it all went smooth until I actually booted up my computer. Now that I am here I cannot connect or find any wireless internet connects. I even tried a wired and it still wouldn't connect. I know I may have to update some drivers but is there anyway to do that without having the internet? Hey everyone,

I'm having issues trying to reinstall Windows on my old emachines computer using the emachines recovery disk set. After rebooting and following the formatting instructions, it runs Symantec's Ghost program (which requires all three cd's) and then reboots itself. The computer gets to the "Please wait while Windows prepares..." and then freezes forever. I've let it sit for over an hour and have gotten nothing. Upon rebooting I get the Windows splash and then a black screen. I've reinstalled Windows twice and have gotten the same results (frozen screen - rebooting brings the black screen).

The emachines is an old T1100 with all the original specs.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

When trying to create Recovery Discs (said it would take 5 discs), went to 92% and then came up with a message that the verify failed and to try again. when trying again. it did not even get to the burning of disc before it said could not create recovery. I have looked everywhere for a solution and found that I should get the recovery discs from HP. My question is - Why should I pay over 51.00 when the problem is with HP system?

Okay so my brother just gave me the ASUS G JW Laptop to use it has windows x OS on it and I've tried at least a dozen or so ways to get it to find the recovery drive using tutorials and I am getting nowhere but frustrated I've even tried making an ISO Win disc and getting it 8.1 out Recovery windows issue cant figure this I to boot from there hoping that the key which I got using a rd party I cant figure out this windows 8.1 Recovery issue device would pull from the bios and allow me to get a clean computer that way but to no avail It won't even recognize the disc as a boot option I've finally figured out the keys to get into the bios and boot menus so we're good there And I am pretty familiar with windows back but I've never encountered windows until now and I already hate it So I cant figure out this windows 8.1 Recovery issue any help is greatly appreciated Also don't feel like you are overexplaining anything Explain it as simply and in as many steps as you can trying not to assume I know what you're talking about especially if you get into command prompt stuff cuz that loses me really quickly when people jump around Thank you ahead of time for your help This is really frustrating

Hello, I have a Gateway M-7315u laptop, and I am trying to recover back to Windows Vista. Since I have wiped the C:\ drive, there is no OS to use, so I use Hiren's boot CD to boot into the recovery partition. The issue comes when I get into the recovery partition. I get to the menu where I have the recovery options and a option to exit. All I can do when I get on that screen is exit. The "Restore or recover" your system option is grayed out, and all I can do is exit.

Hi All,

I have a Thinkpad E330 on Windows 8 that I need to access the advanced start up options with as it has a corrupt boot sector.

So, I use a USB Pen with Windows 8 iso on it (I installed this to the USB pen using the Microsoft ISO to USB tool), when I get to the advanced startup, I choose my language only to be faced with the following message:

"You must log in to access System Recovery Options". I can only press OK to reboot the system.

I didn't make any recovery discs, so am pretty stumped at this stage hoping for advice on here.

Where can I log in to access the System Recovery Options?

Is there any other way round it?

Many thanks.

My PC went into a restore mode on its own after locking up. It had been updated to Win10, but after the restore it was back to Win7. Most of my files are there along with MS Ofiice and the related data files. Missing are my email program (Mozilla) and files and my Quicken and files. There are a number of locked files that return "access denied" when I try to open the file or directory. I'm guessing everythign is there, just hidden. i have not reinstalled Mozilla or Qbooks yet, just in case that buries the files deeper.
Someone suggested i reinstall Win10....MS said they would give me another install for free after the 7/29 deadline, but again, I want to see if I can recover my files. There is no restore point to go back to since the Dell utility ran. Any direction will be appreciated.

Hi,

I have had my Samsung R530 laptop a few years now and I have been a little careless with it and now need to restore my laptop to its original out of the box setup.

Samsung recovery has never worked since the day I installed Ubuntu, and I have had regular fights between Linux grub and windows mbr for control of the boot....lol

The bottom line is I start samsung recovery and it says recovery area not found, I know its there; 15GB/Healthy Partition/3.14GB free the partition label is correct 0x27 and the windows 7 files seem to be there too, problem is how can I access and restore windows 7 with this partition if cannot access it with samsung's recovery tool???

Thanks in Advance

A:Help restoring windows 7(Samsung Recovery Issue)

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

If you have your Windows 7 DVD or a Windows repair disc you could boot into the Recovery Environment and try the Restore Image option.

Failing that, you could contact Samsung and see if they still have a recovery disc for your computer.

I'm no Linux expert as I've never used it, but I'll lay odds it's probably the reason you can't access Samsung's recovery partition. I take it you didn't create a set of recovery discs when you first bought the computer?

A:DELL Inspiron 15R (5010) Recovery Issue

Upgrading the OS destroys the F8 quick restore option - if the partition is still there, it CAN still be used but you'll need to invoke it manually.
That said, the description is exactly what you'd see if your hard drive were failing. Have you run a full diagnostic on the hard drive?
F12 at powerup - let the quick test run, and then boot to the 32-bit diagnostics and run a surface scan of the hard drive (this will take a couple of hours to complete).
To use the recovery partition where you cannot get in through F8, see
<<smsoftdev-solutions.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-restore-dell-factory-image-when.html>>
(it will work with Vista or Windows 7).

Sorry I must be dense. what is the issue? Once you went from vista to win 7 the recovery partition was for all intents and purposes dead. It can only (using a vista dvd) restore you to vista.

What was it you were trying to do?

You can of course (if you have a win 7 dvd) set up a new recovery partition that will get you back to win 7

So?

Hi,

I am having issues with windows 7 64-bit. It crashes repeatedly when recovering from hibernation state and other times when idle. I do not have problems when at the machine actively doing anything.

From my investigation:

1. Only started since I installed my HD 5850 (Running catalyst 10.3)
2. I have disabled Hibernate/sleep and it still happens
3.I don't know how to analyse the minidump files!

I know some issues existed with the low voltage level of the HD5XXX cards when at idle so I edited this in the profile.xml for the card to increase it slightly - I wonder if the profile is activating properly when the computer resumes... so potentially this could be a part of the problem (or a red herring!).

I have attached a .rar file with 3 of the minidump files for assistance.

I hope someone can help!

A:Unexpected Error Recovery - Catalyst 10.3 issue?

Hello again,

after doing more reading I have performed a few extra checks.

I ran the file check (sfc /scannow) as an admin and no issues were raised.

Also I have uploaded the full list of minidump files I have. Some were cleaned out when I did a file cleanup but I hope the extras assist in finding what is at fault.

Hello, Welcome to the HP Support forum. Please, refer to these official articles about troubleshooting recovery process failures: > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04942983 (Win 10)> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03483233 (Win 8) Read them both and follow the advice based on the specific error the user of the PC received. PCs with Windows 8 , 8.1 and 10 do not ship with product key available for the users. It does not have COE sticker like Windows XP, Vista or 7 used to have > http://www.cnet.com/news/windows-8-moves-to-bios-based-product-keys/What you ask for is officially not supported. For the recovery discs to work:- ensure the new HDD is working and correctly installed- no other major hardware changes have been performed- new HDD must with the very same size (or bigger in size) as the original HDD - smaller HDD or SSD (smaller in capacity) will not work- check with HP or the vendor you received the media from if they sent you the correct version of the discs/media for the correct PC model.

Hello,

I’ve ran into the Windows Recovery issue on three computers in the past couple of weeks.(XP, Vista, 7) I have followed the tutorials and have successfully removed each instance but have one underlying problem that I have not been able to resolve. The Start Menu/All Programs shows all program folders but does not have any program shortcuts within the program folders. This is just in the start menu. It is not limited to the current profile either. The problem exists even after creating a new profile.

I do not currently have log files to provide. I am a field technician and am not in front of the PC's anymore. Just thought I'd post and see if this was known and if there was a fix. If log files are needed then I can get then and post at a later date.

Thanks in advance.

Instead of using the CD's to restore your computer try the built in System Restore:

Hello,I am in the process of starting to tackle killing a virtumonde virus on my computer and am making a recovery console per the instructions on the http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix page. It directed me to the http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-install-the-windows-xp-recovery-console/ page which has instructions on making a recovery console from the XP Installation CD. When I run the D:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons command from the run window, I get a message that setup could not continue because the version of Windows on my computer is newer than the version on the CD. This is the CD I used to install the OS, so other than upgrading to ServicePack 3, I don't know why this would be. Suggestions? Thanks so much in advance for the help!

Can i Recover the C drive Files from Backup file of other PC using onekey recovery ?Since C drive is formatted For Ideapad Z510

A:Z510 Onekey Recovery issue,C drive

Hi Anandgs ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If you have previously created a One Key Recovery backup before formating the original harddrive on a separate media , with the same model Ideapad Z510 and specifications , as far as I know , you would be able to restore using one key recovery from user back up as an option .

This would overwrite current data on the current pc .
Would this be how you plan on retrieving backup info?

Update us .

Hi,I have an HP laptop running windows 8.1. I want to make recovery DVDs but can't find where to do that. The only thing I can come up with is creating a recovery drive with a USB flash drive.
My other question is how do you make it so your mouse snaps to the ok button when you click on something like you could do with previous operating systems.
Thank you.Jane

XP boots up--can get to safe mode menu, if I choose last known good configuration it just keeps restarting....if I choose safe mode, keeps restarting. Seems to hang on windows\system32\drivers\Mup.sys

When I boot to XP cd and go to restore menu--I don't get an option to choose 1 or 2. I only get a c:>promopt.

Any suggestions as to what may be the problem? I did try to fixboot and it never got past 27% --2 days worth of letting it sit. It finally froze at the number.

Thanks in advance,

Every time I turn on my PC, the Windows Recovery Console comes up, explaining that I have a made a recent hardware change that is causing startup problems.

I have never made, to my knowledge, ANY hardware changes whatsoever.

There is a younger family member in our house who uses this PC constantly, yet knows very little about PCs.

I cannot install any Security Updates without restarting!

A:Security Issue / Windows Recovery Console Problems!

Hello Seven Forums,

I'm currently facing an issue with Windows. I got asked to repair this PC, but they ran into another issue than I did.
They couldn't get the PC to boot because it gave them a BSOD. Now, when I just started the PC, there's not a single BSOD and it runs fine, untill the "Windows Logon" screen. It doesn't load. There's a cursor and all, but the actual screen isn't popping up.

I had some heavy google sessions, with no result so far. I tried to press "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" to get the taskmanager opened, then starting "Explorer.exe", but the taskmanager didn't even load.
Now, after inserting my Windows 7 Home Premium disk (OEM), and tried to run a recovery, it took about 30 minutes to come up with this error:

Code:
Problemsignature:
Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline
Problemsignature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problemsignature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problemsignature 03: unknown
Problemsignature 04: 718
Problemsignature 05: ExternalMedia
Problemsignature 06: 1
Problemsignature 07: BadDriver
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1043
I have fixed these problems before, but only with wiping the whole disk and doing a clean install. But is there another way? It's not my own computer, I do not know what files are stored on it, and because of that I don't want to do a clean install.

Ruben

Hello Ruben!

As the error log says it's "Problemsignature 07: BadDriver" unfortunately we won't know which driver it's talking about. Are you able to login under Safe Mode? If so check in Event Viewer so if you find anything specific.

Run a SFC Repair at Boot SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot. Check this article Why is my screen black when I start Windows 7? and see if it helps.

Report us back with results

Hi I'm having trouble fixing a Satellite C -A Laptop which was running Windows The main issue is a 'no bootable disk' bootable issue Toshiba C50-A 'no - disk'. USB Recovery Satellite error message The secondary issue which is Toshiba USB Recovery issue - Satellite C50-A 'no bootable disk'. stopping me solving the first issue is difficulty using the Toshiba USB recovery disk Any suggestions or advice on either of these problems would be much appreciated Troubleshooting this PC so far The laptop has only had months of light use I have no idea what caused the initial issue but it's now giving a 'no bootable disk' error message I'm not at all clear on how these recovery partitions are supposed to work And I'm not familiar with UEFI Secure Boot etc Does this error message mean that the boot partition and the recovery partition both became corrupted simultaneously Or are there some main boot files which might have become corrupt I used a Linux live CD to access the drive read-only and managed to recover data This would suggest to me that CD CPU and RAM are all working okay and the disk is still accessible I'm not sure if this is a correct assumption It looks as if Windows has got itself mangled during some quick hibernate process but I'm not competent enough to troubleshot a Toshiba partition Windows corruption issue from Linux So I reset the BIOS after using the Linux CD and purchased a Toshiba USB Recovery stick Ideally I'd like to just repair Windows if that is all that is broken and leave everything else as it was As a second choice a complete fresh install back to factory settings would be fine However I am having severe problems using the USB stick I have tried all USB ports and I am having the same problem on all of them It is taking hours and hours to load this recovery system It does appear to be working but in geological time I have to leave the PC for about hours after every mouse click before the next action is possible By this I mean it is hours of the little circle before anything happens Then hours again before a mouse cursor appears And hours again before a menu appears then hours again before I click which keyboard language and so on I have recovered netbooks from USB and laptops from CD before but this is a far slower response than I have ever seen before At this rate a normal install would take several weeks I'm not at all clear as to what is going on here I'm not sure if there is simply a fault with the USB stick from Toshiba or if this is indicating that there is a major underlying hardware fault with this PC I would have much preferred to get the recovery files on CD but this was not an option Is it possible to transfer the install files from USB stick to CD using another PC Apologies for asking multiple questions in the same post but I am not clear which question is most relevant to getting the machine functioning again Thanks
