Hi. I have problems with my printing jobs. My topic is
I'm thinking about to change the print processor who actually is HPPRN05 and put in a WinPrint. Do I have to save any system information before? is there any danger to change the printer processor of a TCP/IP network printer connected with another one to the same HPJetDirect?. Thanks
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I have a Kyocera FS-1020D printer that has printed about 45,000 pages. It now has a problem with aligning the print. When a page prints it begins printing right at the top of the page and is missing the first 1-2cm of detail. THis happens when printing documents from word etc and when printing a test page from the printer. It also happens when the paper is fed from the print tray or the manual paper feed
Try installing the most up to date driver software for your PC according to you OS: http://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions...ownload_centre.false.driver.FS1020D._.EN.html
I know for HP, the drivers come bundled with a control center that allows you to align and clean the print heads, check ink levels, etc. Maybe the new driver will come bundled with that type of software. My printer can also clean and align the cartridges from with in the printer itself since it has a touch screen. Not sure if you can do that with yours because of the small screen. You can also take a look at your user manual for steps on how to align the cartridges. Download the manual here if you lost it: http://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions...wnload_centre.false.driver.FS1020D._.EN.html#

Have you tried changing the cmos battery? The bios will not hold settings if the battery is bad.
I changed my microphone jack to an inline jack for a recording project, how do I change it back?
You may want to post your computers specs. Such as what os you have.
AMD is poised to make quite a comeback if a leaked slide proves accurate. The slide in question details AMD's Zen core APU and Greenland HBM memory-powered graphics and arrives courtesy of Fudzilla.
This chip looks amazing, and is certainly enough for AMD to make a huge comeback. I really hope this is true.
Hi so I bought a PC about months ago and I love it It so far has been basically able to handle anything I can throw at it Though keep in mind I haven t tried that many strenuous activity though Keep Is PC? my GTA for good enough Processor 5 in mind Is my Processor good enough for GTA 5 PC? Actually what happened is I opened my cpu to clean out any dust so I cleaned it and even cleaned under the processor with a dry cloth.but when I tried to turn on the pc when everything was arranged,a black screen with a paragraph of error is shown.turns off the pc automatically.
My motherboard is fine,it shows a green light in the extreme end.
My processor is working great.
Hard disk is also fine.
But still it is not turning onn. Please help.
Did you happen to have disconnected the power cable from the computer and press and hold the power button to discharge any built up static charges before opening and cleaning inside the computer?
You mentioned you cleaned under your processor. Did you pull the processor from the motherboard or was it still attached when cleaning?
Did you re-check ALL wires and connections? Try disconnecting all cables (to motherboard, hard drive, optical drive, video card, etc.) and then re-connecting said cables, making sure they are firmly seated.
Any chance you can take a photo of the error message and post it here?
May I suggest next time do not use a dry cloth, because you can actually build up static charge within the cloth itself and you could have discharged the built up static electricity into (or onto) one of the computer components.
I have an Emachines D525 laptop. I have the specs listed below. I need help because feel that it could run faster if it was given a better processor to run on. I would like to know what processors I could upgrade to. Thank you!
Processor: Intel Celeron CPU 900 @2.20 GHZ, 2194 Mhz
RAM: 3.00 GB
OS: Windows 7
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD V1.16
Anything else needed, please let me know!
You can change your hd for ssd at least 100 GB . Buy a case for external HD, and use the original hd of her machine, as the same external hd . replace the memory of 1 GB for a 2 GB . Your D525 will be very fast.
I want to learn how to manage ARM processor power management with LINUX (for example the Cortex-A53 MP Core).
Can someone recommend literature, a tutorial or web based information?

Hi forum I have changed my power supply because my ex power supply involved in the problem specs was Watt Watt Real model GP B Green with that before it crash down my system was boot up correctly after I hit the Power On button on top of my chassis since a few days ago that I ve bought a new PSU with this spec Green Watt Real OC edition model GP B GOLD plus Gold now the problem is every time I want to turn on my PC first it doesn t boot up but it s powered on and all hardware are in correct position and nothing s weird just actually do nothing until I push or times Reset button or Power button from chassis and then after a while when it re-started again everything goes well and system will boot up perfectly note - new results and experience I decided to have had some tests so I told by myself let s check the computer when it s powered off recently and I did uninterrupted turn it back ON again so it worked I tried several times to power On and power Off shutting down from windows and it worked so I get that when my machine is powered off for half an hour or maybe several hours then it should be handle after my problem PSU changing Weird this problem Weird problem after changing my PSU which I mention and This test was a huge leap in my opinion pluralization - I m thinking maybe it refers to my new and fresh PSU maybe it has a new system delay interrupt or maybe optional Weird problem after changing my PSU setting that can help through this - maybe the problem is related to the cables I m not sure because I double checked the cables and all connections before - if problem is related to the Capacitors so in this case Capacitors are usually swollen but there is no sign of this condition I also double checked Capacitors for assurance - especially this PSU is the best kind of high power supplies and it s new no sign of ripple noise or any suspicious signs of its internal hardware - so we can say no MOBO suspicious no PSU suspicious no Graphics suspicious anything but only RAM at this point we can say maybe problem is refers to the RAM modules because I haven t test it yet and I hope it is nothing to worry - according to recent test we can assuming there should be a common setting or case that helping us through this because if there was a problem with any kind of hardware then why when I test it repeatedly ON OFF uninterrupted there was no sign of a problem and one more thing remember not to there is no sign or overheating of any kind of my hardware too I m always aware about this any help will appreciate in advance Thanks System Specs OS - Win Enterprise x CPU - i Video - GTX Mobo - Asus P X D Premium x chip RAM - GB Corsair XMP x GB MHz nbsp

Hi there I ve been having issues with my PC lately and have been looking for a place to ask them I hope you guys don t mind Firstly my PC is awfully slow It isn t very noticeable until I play a flash game or something similar Instead of running like it should the speed is decreased dramatically - levels which take one minute to go through take me at least three Now I ve always known that my PC is slow but after seeing that it s that bad I ve decided to make an upgrade I ve tried to keep track of different components and the worst one appears to be my CPU At standby it processor? better need Do I a usually runs at around - and when I launch a browser audio editing software or a game Minecraft in my example it immediately Do I need a better processor? jumps to I m forced to keep my setting to a minimum for it to function The CPU I have is an Intel Do I need a better processor? Pentium GHz chip with GB of RAM usually at Do I need a better processor? around - even when busy I have GB of free hard drive space Also for two years now in the winter months my PC randomly freezes and crashes when running a high-demand program for a while I ve always shrugged it off to overheating my PC is right next to a radiator but now I m really starting to worry about permanent damage I really want to get this solved quickly if possible and would really appreciate any advice you can give So does my CPU need upgrading Or is it possibly my GPU My graphics card is ATI Radeon HD series and I believe it s dedicated though I m not exactly sure By all standards it seems to be good enough at least so I m blaming the CPU for now Am I correct Thank you in advance for any help -Mike nbsp
I think you are jumping the gun on this. You've mentioned the fact that the PC is next to a radiator so you need to put that right. Secondly, like a car, a computer requires some maintenance. You need to keep the inside of the tower clean using something like an air duster can. The hard drive needs to be defragged occasionally unless it's SSD. Do you run the Windows Clean up utility to reclaim wasted space? Programs starting up with Windows that you aren't using cause a further drain on resources. A free utility that can be downloaded called CCleaner makes it easy to check that out. As the hard drive fills up things slow down so are there programs you can uninstall or stuff you can save elsewhere? See if things run better after you've followed up these suggestions.
I have just installed the latest driver from Kyocera for the FS-1020D. I am using the USB connection. This problem has occurred with Windows 7 Professional and Windows 8.
When I print the page, the print doesn't start until between 5cm and 14cm down the page (I tried printing off 5 pages, the first page started printing 14 cm down, then the remaining 4 pages left a top gap of 5 cm).
Cancel this request - I don't understand why, but after I tried printing from the MP tray, it suddenly sorted itself out and is now printing perfectly from both paper trays!
Hi my name is Rafael of Brazil, rode a computer gamer very good, the settings I put down. My CPU is theoretically very good, but I can not play with it, the cooler that comes with the processor does not maintains the temperature when the BF 4 game with full graphics of 50 fps, but a few minutes later he shuts down and restarts in the middle of the game I think the manufacturing cooler's fault, because he goes from 100 degrees (HWMonitor), I will put an exhaust fan and I'm thinking about changing the cooler, am among the Hyper 212 EVO and H60. What would be better to cool off without the need for overclocking.
I would like someone to help me, which of these coolers is better. Hyper 212 EVO or H60?
Hello someone know if the I7 3820 is working with a graphic card pci-express3.0?

Printer Problems in Windows XP sp3
Dell Personal Printer all in one A940
After trying to speed up an older computer running Windows XP
I may have cut off the Print Spooler (or it was already off ?)
I went back to Services dialog box & selected Print Spooler
I clicked the "Start" link at left of service list & got a message tgat said
"could not start print spooler service on local computer error 1068 The dependency service or group failed to start."
Printer is still not working can anyone help?
On Win/7 the dependencies are
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
DCOM Server Process Launcher
RPC Endpoint Mapper
Manually start each on and set to AUTOSTART as you go.
If one fails, then that is the root problem.
I used RV042 10/100 4-Port VPN Router. I've configured the dual WAN, and enable Load Balancing for faster internet. But if I accessedhttp://ipchicken.com/ my IP Address is always chaging? How can I setup the router sticking to just one IP address?
Let me preface by saying....taking two circuits and using them at the same time, even with protocol management from the LB is most likely not worth the effort.
But for the sake of the argument, the first hurdle you have is that both circuits need to have static IPs. What type of connections are they?
Which 1 is better -
1)Exynos 5260 ; Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 & dual-core 1.7 GHz Cortex A15 with 2 GB RAM
2)Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 ; Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A7 with 1.5GB RAM??
Definitely the Exynos 5260, no question about it! It is really a 6 core CPU since it uses the 4 Cortex A7 CPUs to process regular loads and it taps into the 2 A15 CPUs when it needs extra power.
I am new here in techspot. I hove you can help me guys. When I open my laptop and run dxdiag processor appears but when I start to use my laptop become very slow. sample screenshot. thnaks.
1. Does your laptop feel hot when it starts to become very slow?
2. Did you update your AV, Malwarebytes then do a full scan?
3. if you have done all that and nothing is found next is update all your drivers & windows
If after all those 3 it still becomes slow just post back with results

That is an AM3 socket CPU which means it should be compatible with the Phenom II series CPU's. I looked up the board and it should still support up to a 95 watt CPU so any Phenom II X4 CPU with a 95 watt TDP would work on it.
This could very well be in the hardware category for printers, but for now I think it's related to the OS?
We have Win7 machines and Win Server 2008 R2 machine acting as the print server.
Using PCL driver.
FX ApeosPort IV C2275 printer
Using Standard TCP/IP port 'hostname'
Some documents with specific print settings (e.g. page range, as opposed to 'current page') fail to print. Details:
Print is 'successful' as shown by Windows.
Print job spools 'successfully', is inserted into print queue.
No print job appears from printer, nor is there any record of the job on the printer.
Page count on queue is N/A, size is 0
Any ideas? Changing protocol between RAW and LPR makes no change.
Hmm; is the print driver the latest version?
Test and fix on the hosting machine first (aka the Win Server 2008 R2 machine) as that has to work correctly if the clients are to have any hope.
I'm using windows 7 I'm connected to my Verizon router with a Netgear stick. I have it set up for WEP because that was the easiest to figure out. But neighbors are stealing my signal, and slowing me down.
How do I change from WEP to WPA? Simple instructions please Thanks
Do you have both, a device and a wireless access point that supports WPA? WPA2 is what you want for the best protection. Before you can setup WEP/WPA/WPA2, you must have both reciever and transmitter that supports the encryption.
Setup the encryption from within your wireless access point. It could be an independent access point or a combo unit such as a wireless router.
Connect the device that support the encryption of the wireless network.
I have an ip4000 that has just started printing lank pages. I couldn't get the print head to come out yesterday on it own so I pulled it out manually. didn't take any real persuasion, checked the inks all ok. it still wont print and now the print head wont come out at all and I am getting 5 orange warning lights
Anyone any idea please before I throw it out of the window
Is that a Pixma iP4000? If so, have a look at this service manual. Not sure how old your printer is, cost of replacement part(s), or time require to troubleshoot & repair. Might be less headache to get a new one.
So I installed a second Hard drive this weekend. And I want to create a new partition on the new hard drive, which will hold my boot files. So I want a partition of my second hard drive to be my main boot device. (Like 20gb)
Then I?m going to combine my first hard drive, and the remaining space left into 1 partition.
My Local disk has my Boot, Page file, and Crash dump. I want to move this to my new partition. (Second HD)
I tried moving the entire windows file in my local disk to the second hard drive, half way through it wouldn?t allow me to move all of the files.
How do I do this without re-installing windows?
Have a home computer (E6600 2 gig ram) The led and activity lites an power supply fan keeps running after it shuts down so I have been turning off the powersupply
When I turned the power supply on today I got a puff of smoke out the back
So I'm going to use my case, burners, hard drives, video card etc and upgrade
I'll replace the power supply use Window 7 64 bit, ram etc
I don't game ,mostly use the web burn DVD an blue ray later
I've used Intel an Gigabyte in the past with good success
I haven't build a computer foe several years so appreciate your help
I'll be getting the parts from newegg
A few quick questions for clarification:
You mentioned reusing your RAM modules, are the modules DDR3?
A new motherboard will likely not support IDE drives, are all your drives SATA drives?
Intel Core i3, i5, and i7
1st generation - LGA1156 (Nehalem)
2nd generation - LGA1155 (Sandy Bridge)
3rd generation - LGA1155 (Ivy Bridge)
4th generation - LGA1150 (Haswell)
If you want the latest and greatest, the 4xxx CPU's and the LGA1150 CPU socket is what you are looking for. If the second (2xxx CPU's) and third (3xxx CPU's) generation is good for you, the LGA1155 CPU socket is what you are wanting to look at.
Athlon 64 x2 4200+ with a Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS
If its not what would be a good motherboard thats compatible?
The Athlon will not work with that motherboard as it is socket AM3+
You need a socket AM2 board, Or an AM2+.
Hey guys Excuse my lack of proper harddrive Problem WD with external case changing terminology I am new to these things Recently my gb WD external hard drive had the USB port connection on the hard drives circuit board break off So Problem with changing WD external harddrive case I went and bought a new case from my local computer shop I had originally taken my HD to see if they could solder the usb port thing back on to the circuit board but they said they don t do repairs So he looked at my HD and told me which case would be best for it I come home and follow his instructions and remove the circuit board from which the usb port fell off from which also supplied the power and connected to the SATA power port on the HD and put it in to the new housing When I connect it to my laptop it does not show up under My Computer However in my icon tray it shows a USB device has connected and it gives me the option of removing it safely I can hear the HD starting up when it gets plugged in but nothing else happens When I removed the HD from its new case and put the old circuit board bit back on and manually held the usb with the usb port connection on to the circuit board from where it came off from I am able to get it recognized by the computer and the WD software for the password prompt starts up So I know my HD is functioning I just cant get it to function in its new case Any help would be much appreciated Thank you nbsp
Is the new case powered in the same way as the old case? If yes, I would return the case.
The Z5771 does have a pcie slot for an external graphics card - how you get he case open I have not investigated but I was planning on buying a decent card for it. The only proviso seems to be it neds to be a low profile card.
You will have to look the case over carefully to figure out how to open it. There are plenty of low-profile PCIe cards out there to choose from
I recently bought a computer which I will primarily use for work and web browsing but would also like to play the occasional game I would like to know if upgrading my psu and processor will help if it s possible and what to upgrade to My system information Operating System is Windows Ultimate my Am psu and able processor? i upgrade to -bit System Am i able to upgrade my psu and processor? model is Packard Bell Bv Istart Processor Gigahertz intel pentium Somebody has already told me the following Your motherboard has a PCI-e x port It will accept any almost any graphics card out there But your CPU will bottleneck anything that will play games decently Also the PSU Am i able to upgrade my psu and processor? with these pre-built PC is often of quality just enough for the system in question You won t be able to put a mid-range graphics card in it even previous generation ones If you want to use this PC for a little gaming a Radeon will do It does not require additional power connectors It might still be more than your CPU can handle but its around the lowest card you can get Still if you can you can built a nice little gaming PC that can run modern games for around nbsp
Packard Bell PCs are notoriously hard to upgrade, I think because they use non-standard power supply and case connectors, like some Dells. Such an old system is not worth spending money on (I tried the same thing a couple years ago with a high-end Dell Pentium 4, and it was a waste of time and money - bottlenecks, freezes, BSODs, etc). I would start with a cheap socket 1155 board and an i3 or i5 processor, then it would be worth adding a decent video card and power supply.

I am looking to build my own PC as I can't afford £1,000+ to get someone to make one for me, I will be using it for gaming and communication and a little college work, I will probably be using Bullguard to protect it and OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Office with a Win 7 64bit OS.
Bearing this in mind what would be the best Processor for the Intel Core i5 3.4 GHz Quad-Core (BX80637I53570K) Processor and what would be the maximum Memory and Storage I could attach to it? ( I preferably want 8GB of Memory and 1tb of storage ) but I can be flexible.
The CPU you want is the i5 3570K. That runs on the socket LGA 1155. When you are on a budget, any mid range mobo will suit your needs. Use the savings from the mobo towards a better HDD or even an SSD. You will also need a GPU.
I would recommend the ASUS P8Z77-V LK motherboard. As for RAM, 8GB is enough. As for the HDD, 1TB is great. I recommend the WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD.
Make sure you can get in a GPU.
I have a dell latitude c640 laptop ddr sdram, P4, 1.20GHz, HDD 30GB, L2 Cache 512 KB, and RAM 256 MB.
I need to remodel the laptop so that it can work with virtualization simulations & have atleast 4GB RAM. Can you kindly let me know the processor, motherboard, and specifications of other upgrades which will be compatible enough to enable me to reuse THIS very laptop just by upgrading it? Also let me know an approximate cost estimate.
I repeat kindly let me know the specifications of the above which will work with this series of laptop for virtualization simulations using Virtual Box, OpenvSwitch, Xen etc.
Laptops do not have standardized motherboards that will interchange. If and I stress IF there is a motherboard you can use as an upgrade, you would need to contact the manufacturer for the specific details. There is little to no way for anyone to know these details, outside manufacturing service department.
I'm having a problem with my laptop, it seems to have a massive drop in performance. I have a AMD Athlon II M300 (2.0Ghz, 1MB L2 Cache) dual core processor. After noticing the lack of performance I checked my windows base score (crude I know) and the score has reduced from 5.7 to 2.9 (it's pretty much halved) The laptop struggles to do medium powered applications and I'm thinking one of the cores has went down (is this even possible?) I've tried using cpu checkers and the speed what comes back is 2.01 ghz, is this right for a dual core, I'm not really sure how it works. Also this test was done directly after a clean install of windows. Any help and advice would be appreciated, thanks. James
Check your power profile settings in windows.
Hey People! I'm new here... Greets for everyone!
Anyway, I wanna build new system and now I am looking for the best processor to use?
As motherboard I am using Biostar Hi Fi A85W and I wanna put 6 GB DDR3 RAM on it. My graphics card will be my prior GTX 450. what do you guys think? my budget will be 200$
Well, the best processor you can get is the A10-6800K which will work perfectly with your budget of $200. I believe the CPU is only about $150.00 at most retailers online.
Greetings I have posted repeatedly over in the BSOD area on an issue I am having That s not why I am here I am thinking on going from a cached drive that I have now to a cached and a platter to drive SSD Changing a drive from an separate SSD and a platter drive Let me explain I currently have a gig SSD and Changing from a cached drive to an SSD and a platter drive a Terrabyte Corsair HDD I Changing from a cached drive to an SSD and a platter drive use the gig as a cache drive using Intels SRT I have no proof but I am leaning towards my little ssd as the cause of why I am having issues With that said bear with with me I wanted to get a new SSD and install Windows on it and or of my games on it and use the Terrabyte obviously for storage and non essential programs I currently have Win Pro on my Terrabyte drive Can I pull both drives out After decelerating it of course And put in a new Corsair Force SSD say gigs install windows my games and than reconnect the HDD which has windows on it All that text just for a simple question Also can I remove the Windows Folder or uninstall Windows on the Terrabyte drive or should I just leave it Thanks much nbsp
Best way - pull the data from the drives, then format them. Put data back on.
But, yeah, your suggestion should work too. Just watch out for the duplicate MBR entries upon boot.
I have a PC that has to connect to a server through a modem for security reasons.
While it is connected to the modem, a screen needs to be printed.
The printer that is being used is connected to the local network.
While connected to the modem, attempting to print gives the error "The RPC server is unavailable."
Windows XP Professional SP3
Printer server is Windows Server 2008
Modem is old 56k modem connected by serial port (don't think that matters)
What I've tried:
I have tried modifying the routing table to force connections to the subnet that the computer and printer are hosted on.
route -p add 10.1.0.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 10.1.61.0 METRIC 40 IF 0x2
ip for the PC is 10.1.61.53, ip for the printer is 10.1.61.22, IF 0x2 is the integrated NIC
The RPC service is running, and I have also started the RPC locator
Any suggestions what I should do next?
These are correct
ip for the PC is 10.1.61.53,
ip for the printer is 10.1.61.22, IF 0x2
but this is not
route -p add 10.1.0.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 10.1.61.0
and should not be necessary at all, if the PC gateway is on 10.1.61.x
Instead, get the output of ROUTE PRINT and post that
I have several Dell desktops (745, 755, GX260, T5500, Etc) all Win7 and Server 2008, that have factory hard drives; I want to make them removable drives. In the past
I have special ordered desktops with T-7 units from Dell.
Now, I need to make about 20 desktops removable drive desktops, any ideas, Dell says I can't really add a Dell sponsored caddy / cage.
My other issue is I have to add whole disk encryption to it, TrueCrypt is perfect.
I also have to add USB tape backup unit. Q: does anyone have an USB portable tape backup unit and encrypting the hard drive and tape?
My mom wants to buy an i3 desktop since its cheaper than i5 and says we can just upgrade to a new i5 processor once we have the money, is this a good idea or just wait till we have the money and buy the desktop with i5? my brother is the one who will use it for graphic stuff he is into special effects.. I hope I can get some idea about this.
You are better off going straight for the I5. Intel change their sockets every few years so when you upgrade, you may need to purchase a new motherboard (more costly) or buy the outdated I5 processor.
So my brother has a Foxconn 2ada 1.00 motherboard Link: http://www.estaxe.com/index.php/layout-foxconn-2ada-1-00-motherboard/
and wants to upgrade to a good processor, willing to spend $100-$200. What do you guys recommend? Is it worth investing more than $200.00+ for a CPU for a better gaming experience? He has also has an Nvidia Geforce GT 620 just as an added note. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! One website said this Link:http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/specs-2ada-foxconn/ but I trust you guys more...
Well, it is a 1155 socket motherboard. Hence, you can technically fit in any Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge that is below the recommended motherboard/CPU wattage. In this case, that is 95W. I think a i5 and i7 will be a waste. What processor does he currently have? I think a Pentium or i3 is a good option.
I have operated a small one man IT company for the last several years Most of my clients are small businesses Lawyers Chiropracters non-profits Right now I have several client offices that are upgrading up from Pentium systems and a few others that want to add basic desktop systems to their offices to act as counterparts to their mobile computers that they use primarily These offices generally are interested in low cost systems that can adequately and relatively speedily handle their basic operations web browsing word processing email database and CRM access etc Anyways I have generally not kept a large number of systems in stock before usually reselling systems that clients trade-in to other clients or just helping an office choose a good system off of newegg or geeks Since I have had so many requests for systems lately though I have decided to start actively buying systems office to Processor resell suggestions systems budget for I have over a decade of experience refurbishing systems so I decided to shop around for used systems to fix up but I have been having a hard time deciding Processor suggestions for budget office systems to resell on a processor line generation brand to focus on I m considering the Intel Core Duo or a Turion or Athlon dual core Pentium D dual cores are very cheap but I know they are much slower than the core duos From their benchmark scores though it seems like a GHZ pentium d might be better than a Ghz core duo Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated in this regard My goal is to keep these systems under to sell and I don t need anything cutting edge nbsp
I think a Pentium G2020 will bring you the best performance for $65. The AMD A4-5300 is another great choice for $55. I think the Pentium is probably the better choice because of the larger cache, but for web browsing, word processing, and basic activities, the AMD will be fine.
Do you have to update or change the Motherboard to update the processor?
I have a Pentium 4 processor 548, 3.33GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 533MHz front side bus. Can one "Plug and Play" so to speak with an updated processor to the same Motherboard?
Your CPU socket is PPGA478, P4 is the highest CPU this socket will support.
Even with LGA775 CPU socket, unless you had a motherboard that would support quad core, there would be little reason to upgrade over a complete system replacement.
In answer to your question to "Plug and Play", yes and no. Yes CPU's are basically plug and play, and No the motherboard must support the CPU first.
Hello people, I want to know whether my processor will bottleneck my graphic Card ?
My Specs can be found in my profile.
I have been playing Games Like Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon future soldier. When I use my MSI afterburner, I see that my graphic Usage never goes high, it mean, It rarely reaches 70 %. It remains stangent at 60 % or near to that. Whereas my friends Get usage upto 96 %. Could bottlenecking be the reason?
Another Info, All my temps are normal. My resolution is 1366 x 768. I bought HD 7850 so that I could max out all the games and play then-m lag free on ultra settings at my low resolution of 1366 x 768, This card is upto my expectations, but I only get approx 40 FPS in Ghost Recon future soldier whereas other people get 50 - 60 FPS in ultra settings.
So, can I know the problem ? Thank you.
Dual-core won't be helping things, and you may notice a 10fps drop. I'm not gonna bother quoting sources because I can't easily find them and they are dodgy anyway...
But, disable ambient occlusion.. it's a big performance hit.
Anyway, to conclude, your system is fine overall.
I want to buy a laptop to run professional recording software. The minimum requirement is an Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.67GHz. Can I use a quad core with less speed. What are my options?
Is there a trial version of the software for you to test on your current system?
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to processors, but which is better ?
Also, can these be used on the same motherboard?
When I look on this comparison chart it says that the AMD X2 is uses a 939 socket, but when I look on my computer it says I'm using a AM2(940 pin) for the X2 processor.
Look at the X2 and X4 labeling on the CPU's. The X2 means two cores and the X4 means 4 cores running at the advertised frequency. Aside from that the Athlon 64 is an older architect than Phenom. The two CPU's you linked to uses different socket designs and cannot be used on the same motherboard.
AM2 processors are incompatible with 939 motherboards and vice versa,Click to expand...
I have a HP LaserJet Earlier this week I was using my laptop with a phone and an external hard drive both connected to the laptop HP power printer 2430 since error surge will USB LaserJet print not through USB connectors However when I connected the HP LaserJet using a printer cable with HP LaserJet 2430 printer will not print since USB power surge error a USB connector I received a message that said USB Power Surge Error or something similar Since then I have not been able to print I bought a new printer cable and it still does not work I ve been able to use the USB port on the laptop by connecting other items and they work fine so that s not the problem I am able to use the Menu button on the Printer to print out the Printer Info such as configuration page usage page etc However I can not get the Printer to work via a Printer Cable I keep receiving an error that says This document failed to print Is it possible the port which accepts the cable on the printer is damaged My family uses this printer on a daily basis Any assistance with this issue will be greatly appreciated Thanks Rachel nbsp
I forgot to add that the printer previously worked using this USB Printer Cable for years prior to this.
I'm still looking for help on this. If anyone has any knowledge regarding this, PLEASE let me know.

The "for Intel mobile 45 chipset only..." notification is so that a potential buyer is aware that just because the CPU is Intel and socket is Intel doesn't mean the CPU is automatically compatible.
Notebook CPU upgrades are largely a hit-and-miss affair. In addition to the chipset and socket compatibility, you have to deal with a custom BIOS particular to the machine. You might want to check out >>this K50IN CPU upgrade thread<< Both the 9700 and 9900 are 1066MHz FSB (QDR), so theoretically there is little between them. Before swapping out make sure that the BIOS is updated (see the link in the last post in the thread).
The title pretty much says it all.
Here are my specs: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1808734
Amd makes a really nifty, comprehensive piece of performance software called AOD. It can be had here:
Most x2 2xx models will OC to between 3.5-3.8Ghz depending on the motherboard you are using. You should list the rest of your components so we know what we are dealing with, including the PSU you are using. assuming you have quality components, you have the advantage of many others OC'ing this model before you. using AOD is nice as you can shorten the time to OC before making the final stable settings semi permanent in the bios if you choose, or setup an OC profile in AOD to use only during intense operations or gaming if you like. If you want, you can jump right to a setting of 3.4Ghz by raising the HT ref to 242 and the V-core to 1.475 and running the built in stability test for 15 minutes. from there raise the HT ref by 5-10 Mhz and run the stability test until it breaks. You can then raise the Vcore in intervals of .025-.05 until stable. Remember your CPU has a locked multiplier so you will be OC'ing the whole system when you raise the HT ref clock (memory,Northbridge, etc) you may want to drop the HT/NB/CPU multiplier back while you find the maximum OC to eliminate it as a possible limiting factor. a couple things to keep in mind...
1) watch temperatures. Its a REALLY good idea to have after-market cooling (heatsink/Fan) while OC'ing
2) make sure you have adequate PSU, both in capacity and quality.
3) the maximum Vcore for this generation of CPU's is 1.55v, better yet, stay at or under 1.5v -1.525v
4) with very good cooling (and if you want to push up over 1.5 V) you may get over 4.0Ghz.
Here is TechPowerup's Oc of an x2 240, you can get an idea of the settings they used to get 3.8Ghz OC (typical OC for this CPU if you have decent MB,PSU etc)
Here is a look at the control screen of the AOD
Brighthouse "insists" there is no way to change IP address! lol
There must be!! I go to "start" , Run....."command"
Type in "IPCONFIG/ALL
Brighthouse tells me, you have to wait 24 hrs until "lease expires".
Anyone know of a way to change IP on the fly??
turn the modem off and on?
I'd like to know how (if possible) to make it so that my laptop does not automatically change screen brightness when plugging in or unplugging.
You see, there is a brightness setting that is saved for plugged in and unplugged, and when you change between plugged in and unplugged it reverts the screen brightness to that saved level.
For example if you have it unplugged and you set the screen brightness to 100% then plug it in, it saves the unplugged screen brightness to 100%. Now when you're plugged in you change it to minimal brightness. Later when you unplug and leave the screen brightness will revert back to 100%.
I'd like to disable this automatic screen brightness change.
Thanks for reading.
Which OS are you on? Say you were on Windows 7 there is a setting to change the brightness, but some laptops don't work with these settings.
I would like to know if it is even REMOTELY possible to send a document to print from one computer to a printer attached to another computer in a different location.
And when I mean in another location, I mean that the printer is located at another building! The computers aren't even connected by a network system.
Weird request I know, but just wanted to know if it's a possibility.
Thanks in advance.
As far as I know there is no way to do this when the PC's are not on the same Network. All you can do is send the document as an attachment to an email so the other user can print it out. Sending a fax, if the other building has a fax machine, will create a print out.
There may be other replies.
I am attempting to print in my car from a Lenovo Thinkpad to HP Laserjet P1102w which is all being powered by a 1500 watt power converter that is hardwired to my car battery. However it will only print one page or less before the power converter loses all power and then reboots within 30 seconds. This continues to happen no matter what I do or if I only have printer plugged in. Ideas?!!
Laser printers use a lot of power, and 1500W is a lot to pull on an AC circuit converting from a car battery. I suspect that the voltage output of the car battery is dropping too low for the DC/AC conversion. Attach a voltmeter to your car battery and watch and see if it drops off during the printing task. Is the engine running (alternator replenishing the battery) at this time? They make car batteries and beefier alternators for people with high end stereo systems in their cars, you may have to go that route.
Hi I want to upgrade my cpu and my motherboard. I will go with the i5-3570k and maybe the GIGABYTE GA-Z77-D3H. I'm not planning to need SLI/Crossfire and I won't do any extreme overclocking. I have 1 ssd + 2 HD and I will probably add 1-2 hd in some times. I'm also going to buy a 660 ti and change my psu in a 2-3 months.
$356.98 + $8.54 + $18.28 = total: $383.80
This is the less expensive that I have found. So if you think that I could do a better deal please share it with me. I'm from canada so I can't buy on US site.
Thanks and sorry for my poor english
These choices look good...
So I purchased the Intel Q9550 about four years ago, and I'm wondering for how long it will hold. I recently purchased a new graphics card: SAPPHIRE RADEON HD7870 2GB PCI-E DVI/HDMI/DP, and I am wondering for how long this old processor can
last before I have to change it to something better. Any ideas?
Thats a question that only you can answer for yourself. If you are still happy with it then it is still good enough for your use.
Personally for Intel CPU's any quad core is still plenty of power for an average user. I might shake my finger at a LGA775 dual core but not a quad.
I have an older Inspiron 531 and I wasn't planning on replacing it anytime soon as it plays all the games and does everything else I need. I was wondering if there is a way to boost its speed and power a little more though. Right now I can play most mmo's on med settings, but I wanted to get a little more out of it. Currently I have a Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103546) processor in the PC. I have an AMD Phenom X4 9150e (http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HD9150ODJ4BGH-R) sitting around right now, my question is, can I replace the 4400+ with the 9150e and is the Phenom faster?
Unfortunately, you cannot use the 9150E for your machine. It uses a completely different socket then the 4400+. You will need a board that supports AM2 sockets to use the 9150E.
Spent about 10 hours trying to resolve a network printing problem on a laptop today and now I am asking for your help. The HP laptop stopped printing with the message "Print Spooler is not running". I tried starting it at services.msc but it will not start. I tried uninstalling the printer from add/remove and could only remove the printer applications but the driver will not uninstall because the print spooler is not running. I tried reinstalling the printer but it will not because the spooler is not running. I tried installing a different printer with the same failure. Microsoft FixIt identified the spooler as not running, tried to start it and it failed immediately. FixIt said it could not help. I checked windows update and it is up to date. Printers work with 4 other pc's on the network. OS: Win 7 Pro
Treat it as if there are jobs in the print queue that can't be deleted. As I recall you delete the subdirectory in the Spooler directory used for that specific printer.
Try running this troubleshooter

This laptop is not a great gaming laptop. There's nothing you can upgrade on it. If you are serious about gaming, use a up-gradable desktop PC or be prepared to spend a great deal more money on a gaming laptop
My HL1440 printer died. With that printer I was able to print from windows XP as well as from Peachtree 10.0 version which is a DOS program. This program requires a parallel cable port
as well as a printer that will emulate HL8PS printer or HP Laserjet I or something similiar.
I called Brother, but they stopped making HL1440. I do have HL2040 with a parallel cable, but
according to Brother, they do not have DOS driver for that printer.
Is it possible to find a printer in the market that will help. I do not want to change my software,
because I cannot find printer with parallel cable and DOS driver.
I will appreciate any help.
You're better off moving to a USB printer as few systems now support Parallel connections.
A USB printer is rather cheap these days and if you move to better OS or Application, then it will still be supported.
Why waste time with 1998 technology?
Trying to print to a Brother ML-2040 (driver installed) I get a notice of "printer in an error state". I looked at one answer on this forum about unchecking bidirectional etc, but it wasn't checked. I'd appreciate any other suggestion on how to get the printer to work. I tried the Windows help program, but it couldn't solve the problem. Thanks....Jim
Have you downloaded the latest Windows 8 driver, and made sure you are picking either the 32-bit or 64 bit version?
I am thinkin of buying http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INTEL-D41...aptopMotherboards_CPUs_CA&hash=item35c160f826
and I need to know if it will support my processor which is a core 2 duo E6550 and my G card which is a NVIDIA GT220 (old I know but does its job for what I need) and DDR 2 ram cards.
The board seems to be a P4 board. - Intel® Desktop Board - DQ963GS
However there does seem to be support for Core2 processros with BIOS updates. - Found 36 Compatible Processor(s) for Board "DQ965GF"
As the title says, I wanna change my motherboard processor, and insert an SSD aswell while keeping the old harddrive.
Was wondering if I need to perfom a new reinstall on windows or if I can just transfer windows itself to the SSD and then just keep going. I was also wondering if my windows install will messup if I insert my new motherboard due to new BIOS.
Its always a good idea to fresh install when changing motherboards. A fresh install will minimize any issues that could arise from different hardware configurations. I've also heard that Windows setup detects an SSD and optimizes Windows for use with the SSD.
You should also keep in mind, an OEM license for Windows is not be transferable to a new motherboard. The motherboard is the one component that constitutes a new machine. OEM installs are bound to the motherboard they are activated on.
I have a hp pavillion d4000 and I want to upgrade the processor. It has a 3.2 ghz amd but when I go to hp's website to see what the max processor I can put in it it hasl only a 2.4 ghz processor listed in the replacement parts list.
Whats the exact model number?
Please let me know I like the amd brand and cant afford much but would like to make it better if I can and if I can change it what can I put in it the mother board is a MCP61SM2MA gateway is the manufaturer bios name is phoenix-award workstation bios v6.00pg the processor is a AMD Athlon (tm) 64 Processor 4000+ the CPU id is AMD64 family 15 Model 95 stepping 3 the socket designation is a socket AM2 if you need any more let me know

I have a Dell XPS 410 Computer. My computer is a Intel Core 2 CPU 4300 1.80 GHZ, 1.79 GHZ 1 GB of ram computer. Is it worth it to upgrade. I would like to upgrade to a at least 2.5 or 3.0 if possible. I not into buying a new computer right now, as I want to save my money to get a new laptop computer instead.
What would be the best option out there. Any help would be great.
If you can find a Q6600 or Q6700, those are the only two quad core processors that will work in your PC. All other quad core processors are 1333 MHz and requires a motherboard that supports the frequency.
XPS 410 Processor Upgrade
Dell XPS 410/9200 Processor Upgrade
Just remember the motherboard you have does not support processors with a 1333 MHz FSB. Make sure if you buy a CPU upgrade, it has either a 800 MHz or 1066 MHz FSB.
I was just curious my processor fan seems to blow really hard and sounds like a jet engine taking off lol is that normal or should I be concerned?
What motherboard do you have?
Ok so im replacing my integrated graphics card with a non-integrated. Is the processor built into the graphics on the motherboard or is it it's own thing?
Im just curious cuz I dont wanna be all happy and dandy and install something and it ends up im gonna need way more pieces to buy. I'm merely just upgrading the power supply and the graphics card is all. Help would be appreciated!
Also I Heard something about the bios setttings automatically turning the integrated off? If that does that will it turn my processor off as well?
Sorry for all the confusion and thank you.
copmuter at manufactuer's website:
Hi, First make sure that you can actually fit a graphics card into your pc, you will need a spare PCI-express slot.
Have a look at the photo on this page. The PCI-express graphics slot is 'B' and the processor is 'G'.
The processor will have a large fan on top of it so you can't see it when it's built.
The BIOS can have a few options regarding graphic cards. But if there is an option to detect a separate graphic card in a PCI-express slot, it may be called 'Auto'. So you will need to look in the 'Integrated peripherals' section for that.
If you are not sure about BIOS settings, best to find out more info about yours, as you could make your pc difficult to use with the wrong settings.
Also if you buy a graphics card as in your link, note that it has DVI outputs, so you will need to buy a DVI monitor cable, and your monitor must have a DVI (cream or white) input, near to the blue VGA input you will be using up till now.
Another way is to look for a Graphic card with both VGA (blue) and DVI (white) outputs, so you have two options.
I have wrongly ordered the motherboard as per the following reference, whereby my processor no longer fits:
HP DV6 REV:F Da0uP6MB6F0
Can someone please advise which processor(s) will fit on this new motherboard?
Thank you in anticipation.
Looks like this is it:
i3-350M CPU 31AX1MB01M0
AMD X2 4800+
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93
I would say Intel for sure. Even though I am a AMD guy. Cheers
My Microsoft wireless key board has a print key. It the P key. It has *Print on the front edge of the key.
How does it work? I tried using it to print something, but nothing happened. I tried it with enter, with ctr alt del or variations of. Nothing worked. Before you ask. Yes my printer was turned on ;0)
Is it a special function key (usually blue print on the keys), requiring you to press the "Function Key" at the same time to activate?
After you press the print key, goto a paint program and paste to see if the screen printed to clipboard. I know when I press the "Prt Scr" key a screen capture is sent to clipboard.
Hey guys I was wondering if it's a good idea to change my graphics card, in my all in one pc Acer Aspire Z5771, the specs is exactly the same as this http://www.acer.com.au/ac/en/AU/content/model/PW.SHM02.008
Would you guys recommend which graphics card are suitable for my pc, one suitable for gaming.
It's pretty much impossible to change graphics cards on AIO PC's, you can't just plug in a normal PCI-E desktop GPU. Unfortunately that's one of the downsides of buying them.
I over-clocked a old celeron D 2.6GHz. after I over-clocked it the computer runs but wouldn't boot. tried clearing CMOS, disconnected the power from wall, PSU... nothing ever replaced RAM and CPU.
Just to make sure...killing the power to it for a few seconds won't clear the CMOS if there is a battery on the motherboard. If there's not a jumper to clear the CMOS then try unplugging it, taking the battery out for a few minutes then putting it all back together.
hey , I just bought an athlon proccesor with am3 socket, and a 4gb ddr3 ram. I installed them but the screen is blank when I power the computer. If I install the old 2gb ddr2 it works. What could be the problem?
Your motherboard is not compatible with ddr3 memory.? Did you check your motherboards specs before purchasing the memory and CPU? Post the make and model of your motherboard. This way someone help you out.
I have an Intel Core i3 2310M (Sandy Bridge) processor and even with a cooling pad my cpu is reaching temps. of 85 degrees and without the cooling pad it's even worse. I've recently started overclocking my gpu which is a gt 525M and I'm wandering if that could be the problem. Thanks.
85 sounds high to me for an i3, but I don't actually know, nor have I looked up, the max temp for it, I do know mobile processors tend to have a higher max temp than traditionals.
I think the real question here is why did you ask this? Were you having problems?
Temp problems manifest themselves a few ways:
Super sluggishness because the CPU throttles way down.
Windows or other OS errors, when things go bad, they don't compute well, which is why you see stability problems on high ends of overclocking.
Graphics corruption on GPU overclocks, or simply bad drivers on normal clocks.
I'm sure there are some I missed, but that is the gist of it.
If you aren't seeing any problems, I wouldn't worry about it. Fixing laptop overheating problems yourself is more involved than doing the same on desktops.

Hey, so I took a quick look at your list. Your Motherboard does support one PCIe card, so you should be able to install the 6950 just fine.
my chief concern however, is that the 6950 is a very long card, and I'm worried it may not fit in your small dell case. So I'd take some measurements to see if it fits, before buying anything.
the installation of the PSU and GPU should be fine, I myself have done the exact same thing in my brother's dell (installed new PSU and GPU), and it has been working fine ever since.
Also If you have a few extra dollars, Id look into getting at least a 600W power supply, just to be safe, because the 6950 OC edition will suck quite a bit of power, and I'd rather have a bit more breathing room whereas 520W is cutting it a bit close. thats' up to you though, it should still run fine with your chosen PSU.
Ok so I just built a pc Processor speeds DRAM help and recently here are the Processor and DRAM speeds help specs Windows x ASUS SABERTOOTH Z LGA Intel Z Processor and DRAM speeds help HDMI SATA Gb s USB ATX Intel Motherboar Intel Core i - K Ivy Bridge GHz GHz Turbo LGA W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX I K EVGA -P - -KR GeForce GTX Fermi MB -bit GDDR PCI Express x HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card CORSAIR Professional Series HX CMPSU- HX W ATX V EPS V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply Western Digital Caviar Black WD FAEX TB RPM MB Cache SATA Gb s quot Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive NZXT Phantom PHAN- RD Red Steel Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case CORSAIR Vengeance GB x GB -Pin DDR SDRAM DDR PC Desktop Memory Model CMZ GX M A C R ASUS Black X BD-ROM X DVD-ROM X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Drive Model BC- B ST BLK B AS - OEM So I noticed the cpu was hitting around degrees C under load with the turbo turned on running at ghz So I turned off the turbo and now according to CPU-z the cpu is running at ghz even though the only things I did were turning off the turbo Also according to my temperature utility the cpu is at degree C so not sure whats happening there So how do I increase the speed I notice the dram speed is only when its rated for so I manually set it to I was reading online about this FSBRAM ratio stuff and got extremely confused so any help would be appreciated I bought Cool master evo hyper and am waiting for it to come in by mail but I still want to figure this issue out in case it happens in the future nbsp
What temperature utility are you using? Clearly 1C is wrong.
You need to check your CPU speed when it's under load, downclocking when idle is a power saving feature of all Intel and AMD CPUs.
When reading about the FSB to RAM ratio stuff make sure you ONLY read the Sandy Bridge/Ivy Bridge articles because previous Intel generations work differently. For your IB CPU the FSB speed is pretty much set to 100Mhz so you need a ratio of 18 to get to 1800Mhz on the RAM.
So I have intel core i5 2320 3Ghz processor and when I dont do anything with computer just surfing on net I got about 40C-45C temperature. I cheack temperature with Speccy program. However when I playing game like gta 4 I got form 70-75 temperature and one time I got 80 but its was just for one time. So and I have fews questions, its normal, its safe ? And when I playing game like crysis gta 4 I got fps drop in some places, but I hear that is normal when fps drop in some places on gta and crysis, fps drop is not so big. On other game no fps drop like postal and mafia II. But maybe it can have influence for performance I dont know so that why I ask you.
Slowing down depends on what's happening on-screen, e.g. the FPS during an explosion or a lot of smoke/dust would be lower than normal. But at high temps, thermal throttle would kick in, slowing things down.
Anyhow, to the thread's main question:
The "normal" temps depends on ambient temps, really. 30C, while hot for Antarctica, is a miracle for Sahara. Knowing your ambient temps and system configuration/placement would help.
But if you are uncomfortable with those temps (should be, IMHO), refer to the Cooling Guides in my signature for help.
I am hoping you guys have some suggestions here, I have been looking at a pc which seems to be changing its resolution at random, it will work fine for a while and then the screen will go black for a few seconds and then come back with a changed resolution, it will then go black again and then revert back to the original resolution.
Its a Gigabyte AM3 mobo with AMD onboard graphics.
Thinking it might be a graphics issue I installed a Geforce 8400 GS PCI card which worked fine for a few weeks but now we have the graphics issues again. I am assuming that as it had the problen with 2 different graphics chips, one onboard and one on the PCI card that its unlikely to be a graphics issue.
Could it be an issue with the monitor which is a 17" Dell TFT?
What have you done regarding graphics drivers? Have you tried to install the latest that is appropriate for each card?
About 5 months ago I could download a game at speeds around .8 or .9 megabyts p/second. Now, for whatever reason, my computer is never jumping above .38 m/p/s...
Also, for whatever reason, I see that some of my processors out of four will jump up and down in usage for no reason. I would have my 2nd and 3rd proc's just jump up and down to 80 percent workload and then drop for two seconds, just to repeat the cycle perfectly.. Im not sure if that has something to do with it, but it's certainly an issue id like help on. I really do appreciate and knowledge on this problem that you would be able to share with me.
Also the speed of my download will drop to about .013 m/p/s for maybe a minute, the go back to the classic .39 :/
I would suggest starting here.
Sounds like malware or something to me.
Ensure your antivirus, firewall and windows are up to date and run a full scan.
Recently my computer started to stop in the middle of what I was doing and the screen would turn completely black and I would get no response to my keyboard or mouse. I've tried many steps ie - removing ram, reseting cmos, disconnecting and reconnecting all power and components, using the onboard video card and my PCI-E card and still no luck. I'm trying to figure out if I need to buy a new processor or a new motherboard or possibly both? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
Any ideas anyone?
Sorry, this may be stupid question but I'd rather ask it here online.
I want to upgrade my processor to an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or maybe something better if I'm able.
I'm just unsure if I'm actually able to upgrade my laptop at all.
I'm not very good with computers so I'm just going to give all the specs I can:
Operating System: Windows 7 Pro 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600)
System Manufacturer: LENOVO
System Model: 28473ZU
BIOS: Ver 1.00PARTTBL
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Dueo CPU T6570 @ 2.10GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
I would also like to know if i can upgrade to an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
from my graphics card which i guess is:
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
any help I'll greatly appreciate it.
The ONLY stupid question is the one you don't ask!
The cpu is upgradeable if...and only...if....the cpu you are trying to upgrade to has the same front side bus speed...Yours is 800 MHz and the socket type is the exact same!
this should provide you the options for upgrading available via Lenovo's tech support site!
Recently within the last days i ve suffered video audio skipping of both video and Video audio skip - problem? i7 / processor Core audio Video / audio skip - i7 Core processor problem? specifically random split second audio cut outs which can happen in patterns seconds and sometimes minutes apart it also affects what is shown where it skips video in intervals split seconds in a similar way that it does with audio i ve systematically narrowed down the cause of it but no closer to a Video / audio skip - i7 Core processor problem? solution Video card driver - The most recent driver for that has been installed Headset - I purchased a new one I even disconnected it for few seconds to make sure it wasn t the USB ports and the video skipped anyway USB Ports - see above Video / audio skip - i7 Core processor problem? Adobe Flash Player - It was recently updated and the video audio skip remains I have had a new internet connection installed which is approx x faster than my old one so I ll test that to see if it s that if it isn t then that can be narrowed down if it is I might have to get a new wireless adapter that can handle it The PC I use is years old it has the following Intel Core i processor ATI Raedon HD series graphics card gb ram Windows -bit If you need additional info I can provide it nbsp
Additional: The internet connection was turned off to test whether that was causing the video / audio skip, it had no effect at all, so that can be narrowed down.
I have a Compaq Presario SR5413WM which according to HP I can upgrade the processor. I upgraded the RAM a couple of years ago, and the machine runs fine, but was curious to know if it was worth upgrading the processor.
My current processor is AMD Athlon LE-1640
Operating speed: Up to 2.7 GHz
Number of cores: 1
Bus speed: 2000 MT/s
according to HP I can upgrade it to
Socket type: AM2
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
Athlon 64 up to 3800+
Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 4800+ (up to 65 watt TDP)
Sempron - All
I have copied this info from HP's website, and it really doesn't mean much to me, but was hoping that you guys could help!
I would think that the difference is negligible depending on what you use the computer for.
i have an emachine et1831-05 and i only have a single core celeron at 2.2 ghz. can i upgrade to a dual core. the mother board supports lg775.
It depends on the chipset used in the motherboard, power requirements of the new cpu and the old motherboard's ability to provide that power, and if the BIOS has any limitations added by the manufacture that may supersede the chipset design.
Hey fellow nerds, I have Black Ops for PC, runs decent. 25ishFPS at medium settings. Highest settings, about 15FPS. It's OK.
Quad core AMD A8-3800 (each is 2.4GHz, rated at 5.40GHz!)
8GB DDR3 RAM
Genuine Win 7 Home Premium
AMD Radeon HD 6550D
QUESTION! Now I can play something like GTA, on medium settings, and I get like 7-12FPS. For the love of god WHY! Is it JUST my processor, Is itJUST my Integrated graphics card, is it multiple things? What? I want to play GTA 5 when it comes out and enjoy a good 30FPS or more. But I have vodka taste, beer pockets. Please help, also I would love to NOT upgrade my processor!
You need a discreet GPU. You are going to probably need to replace your PSU as well. Do you know the brand/model and how many watts your current PSU is? I can't believe you are playing any game @ 7-15 FPS. Add a GTX 460 and you will be playing @ 60+ FPS on most games on medium and @ 35-40 on most high settings. FYI, integrated graphics are not intended for gaming. As far as processors, gpu and gaming go you will fall into one of two bottlenecking categories....You need to find the happy medium.
Slow CPU and Fast GPU
Fast CPU and Slow GPU
so i fried my motherboard, got it fixed and he put a single core procssor in it. this isnt nearly fast enough, so i want to put my processor from my old computer in this one, which is a dual core. i talked to the guy at the computer shop, and he said that using a new motherboard with a used processor isnt good? like they are not compatible or something like that? i didnt think this is true at all and was wondering if it is true or not?
Find the model number of the new board and see if the old CPU will match the allowed CPU's for that model board
Thank s to Broni I will not HP not "Printer Officejet is.." print installed/services that Windows needs just shook a nasty Trojan virus However now that s all taken care of -the printer is not working The printer is a HP Officejet J All-in-One It prints scans and is a fax machine When I go on Microsoft Word and type in quot testing quot on a document and hit print the printer will print my sheet out no problems However if I try to print a picture or pdf file this HP Officejet will not print "Printer not installed/services that Windows needs is.." error message pops up For Pictures Print Picutures Error quot This picture can t be printed because no printer is installed or a service that Windows needs is not running quot --- Ok quot Click to expand For Pdf files Adobe Reader quot Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document you need to install a printer quot -- Ok quot Click to expand I have uninstalled and re-installed the printer s hardware Made sure the printer s spooler is working that was an issue once a couple months ago Set the printer as the quot Default quot and made sure everything is plugged in correctly Like I said it will print perfectly fine if I go on Microsoft Word gt Edit gt Print gt Print and when it brings up the screen with all your print options I have to go up and select the printer name in the drop down box So my guess is that the other programs are not picking up on the printer by themselves because on Microsoft Word I have to manually select it Any ideas on how to fix this Any input would be greatly appreciated Thank you nbsp
uninstall the printer; reboot and then reinstall
I currently have a desktop with a single core AMD Athelon 2.08 GHZ, 1 GB ram running XP. I am planning on using an older laptop in its place. HP NC6400 Intel 1.6GHZ Centrino duo ,3 GB ram running Windows 7. Will I notice a slower performance with the laptop?
Judging from PassMark.com benchmark scores.
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ > benchmarks between 400 & 500
Intel Core2 Duo 1.6GHz > benchmarks between 800 & 1100
To answer your question, I don't see any reason why the laptop would be slower. The laptop has two times the CPU performance and three times the memory.
I am thinking about overclocking my CPU to minimize a possible bottleneck when i put in my new crossfire ASUS Radeon 6970 DirectCU II 2GB cards, should i be putting it up to 4GHZ?
Oh and if you don't know already the standard clock of the 950 is 3.06GHz, i also have a CoolerMaster V10 to cool the CPU so heat shouldn't be a problem
...should i be putting it up to 4GHZ?Click to expand...
That kind of depends on the chip. Always best to OC incrementally. Some chips don't overclock well, some do, and some will but might need a bucketload of voltage tossed into the CPU and chipset. The first couple of 950's I tried OC'ed moderately well, but required close to 1.4v to get them there. The chip I now use won't OC as high (~3.8-3.9) but does so at good voltage (~1.18-1.2v)
Oh and if you don't know already the standard clock of the 950 is 3.06GHz, i also have a CoolerMaster V10 to cool the CPU so heat shouldn't be a problemClick to expand...
The V10 is a good air cooler. The TEC doesn't work overly effectively until the heat production starts ramping up. Overall it's going to be no more effective than a top-tier air cooler (i.e. Noctua NH-D14, Thermalright Archon) or closed loop all-in-one watercooler (i.e. Corsair H80/H100, Antec Kuhler 920) so keep an eye on the temps during stability/stress testing.
My laptop is running very slow. The Intel Processor identification utility reports the following:
expected speed 1.83ghz, both cores are reported at 0.09ghz, the system bus is expected at 667mhz, both cores are reporting 65 mhz. The task manager is only reporting on one core. How can I fix this or is it time for a burial ceremony?
how about you attach a screenshot of CPU-z
I own a ACER Aspire model 5552-3680, but its time to replace the battery on it. I was simply wondering if replacing a battery on a computer removes my files saved on it as well? Just confirming, because I really doubt it. Usually files are saved on RAM, and I'm only replacing the battery. Thanks ahead of time!
Not sure whether you're replacing the rechargeable or the coin battery, either way, save your files then shutdown your computer properly and proceed w/ the change-out. You won't lose anything.
If you're replacing the coin battery, BIOS setting might revert back to the default factory setting. So you'll want to check on that. It's been a while since I've had to replace the coin battery, don't recall what happened at the time.
Good evening all,
my friend has an old Advent 7110 laptop and is experiencing a couple of problems with it, mainly this one, described in his own words: "lappy keeps crashing but not in a turny-offy way, the screen goes all liney and freezes then when you turn it off and on again the fan runs but it doesn't boot" - it does this while plugged in or not.
He originally asked me about graphics cards, thinking it might be something to do with that, but it sounds more like a processor or power issue to me, has anyone got any ideas??
Sounds like a damaged video cable from the LCD to the motherboard...
Does anyone know if I can print in a remote location?
The remote location will not have a computer.
What do i need to be able to do this without a computer in the remote location,?
well its impossible to do so u need a pc connected to that remote printer and that pc is linked to ur local pc with lan or wan wired or wireless well unless the printer can connect on a lan or a wan by itself which i never heard of
u can use blue tooth but the remote printer has to be in ur blue tooth range i.e a floor above or down same floor if its REMOTE as in far far away then forget it
