I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Welcome PopPoPpoP, I have searched for a result that works but am unable to find one. Without any details of your Motherboard and hardware using, i can only assume that somehow a firmware program is not working as it should. Post details of your computer using for a better chance of me finding out what is wrong. Thanks for using this forum for your connection issues.http://www.vistax64.com/network-sharing/292921-3g-dongle-slow-speed-issue-windows-vista-home-premium.html
I am sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, but I took a guess!
I have recently bought the LG 42LA6608 Smart TV. I have been flicking through a horrendous amount of web pages attempting to find a way to stream my PC screen and Audio to this TV. Apart from the obvious VGA and Audio cable or HDMI cable it appears that there are only two possibilities left; Miracast or WiDi (Intel Wireless Display).
My main question; if I bought a Miracast dongle from Amazon then do I just plug it into my PC and it functions? as Miracast essentially is not a company, is there a specific dongle I need to buy that will work with Windows 7?
I look forward to any response.
Welcome to Seven Forums,
According from this video tutorial it should work for Windows 7 (with the correct or latest driver installed), Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. O/S'es.

I am having issues with Vista. I accidently turned off the computer while it was updating with Windows Update. Now, when I try to turn it on again, the only issue is the Windows Profile screen where you log in to your account. There is nothing showing on the screen instead. The mouse works alright. I can move around on the screen. Would anyone be able to help?
Hello Jerry, and welcome to Vista Forums.
You might see if doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before this can fix this for you.
Hope this helps,
New to this forum,
I've a weird problem with my IE8. Any page I browse to shows a 'Done, with errors on Page' at the status bar and most other sites such as hotmail turn up blank, with the 'Done' at the status bar and a warning sign next to it.
Its driving me crazy, and I cannot spot anything in Event Viewer System/Application logs that corresponds to this occurrence.
Is this a virus that has taken over ...? Should I try restoring the system to any restore point?
Hi ramvaradan and welcome to Vista Forums
I've moved your post to a more appropriate section of the Forums.
Have a look at the Tutorials relating to IE to see if there is anything there that might help. I suggest the following as starters, but you might also need to check out the related ones (links given within the Tutorials).

I don't have the best PC in the world but it's good enough for what I use it for. When I first got it, there were no issues. However, as time has gone by, it has slowed down more & more every day & now most of the time, I'm lucky if I can even get it to boot up all the way. I have checked for malware & all types of virus issues & all have come back clean. My hard drive is not overloaded & most of the fancy Vista features have been turned off. Anyone have any suggestions?

I formatted the HD and reinstalled windows. everything seems much faster. but windows update is SO slow ... still.
I have 52 updates to install, most under 3mb in size... I have high speed internet, my download speed is 26mbps...
so, why does it take windows update so long to do something?
any ideas how or if I can fix this?
WU does a cansiderable amount of work, even when downloading - have you ever watched the Network traffic and processor usage at the time? If you have a slow processor (or it's busy doing other things) it will slow the process down. WU is also set as a low priority on download - so if there is any other traffic on your PC, it will take priority.http://www.vistax64.com/windows-updates/296439-why-windows-update-so-slow-vista-home-premium.html
Hi Forum My HP HDX Laptop running Win Vista Home Premium bit recently down slow on Vista Windows Home Premium Complete had to have a complete replacement of the main c Hard Drive and consequently a full Complete slow down on Windows Vista Home Premium return to factory settings had to be undertaken Luckily this was covered by Warranty Since then the Laptop would rival Complete slow down on Windows Vista Home Premium a snail in response programmes hanging major slowing in shut down and start up times Prior to this event my Laptop was like a formula one car and greatly efficient When it was returned to me I removed a lot of the dross programmes that initially came with the machine The only one left is the Norton anti-virus Previously I had Microsoft Essentials cover with Malewarebytes additional I shall revert to this when the trial period expires or maybe before this if this is causing problems I have made various setting adjustments as recommended for improved performance A major one was the Regedit HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE SYSTEM current control setting control reducing the quot waittokillservicetimeout quot from to I am seriously considering ditching the complete Vista system for Windows as the way it is behaving is the way many people describe Vista But what puzzles me is how efficient it was before this Hard Drive mishap I have used Disc Cleanup and cC clean up and Auslogics Defragment and checking for HD errors reveal none What is the key thing I need to attend to bring this unit back to pristine condition
Did you install all the updates and SPs?
Same for Vista
In the last 6 months I wiped my hard drive on an older Dell computer (used to have Win 98!) and did a clean install of Win 7 Home Premium. This is one computer on a network of 3 all going through a wired Belkin router but I'm getting 18 mbps on the other two computers and only 3 mbps on this computer as tested on speedtest.net. The other two computers are running Windows Vista. I've switched cables to eliminate that as a potential problem but nothing changed. AVG is my virus protection but I do not have the firewall activated with that program. Windows firewall is activated. As far as I can tell this computer runs perfectly otherwise....just slow internet speeds.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?
If this computer was of the Windows 98 vintage it is fairly old & may not really be capable of running Windows 7 properly.
Did you check if it was compatible beforehand.

An old co-worker of mine called me today with a whopper. After removing some sort of "zlob" virus, she finds that her system is entirely unable to browse the Internet. Here's the techy side of things:
Applications relying on DNS can't successfully complete name resolution. At all. PING by IP, sure. PING by name, nope.
I've tried clearing IE's cache; deleting temporary files of all sorts; scanned for viruses; scanned for viruses by attaching the hard drive to another PC; scanning as best I can for malware using Malwarebytes, Ad-Aware, and SpyBot (none of which can find their update servers); resetting winsock via NETSH and WinSockFix - all to no avail.
The system is now on my home network, which is working just fine in for all other attached PCs.
I'm stumped. Any thoughts?
Try a hard reset of the router - I had a similar problem and it was traced to the router settings - they had been reset by the virus/trojan. I did a hard reset - this can be done by finding the little pinhole on the router and inserting a paperclip or something of similar diameter OR by going to the router homepage and reset it to factory settings. You will then have to re-configure the router settings for your ISP. If not done already I would also reset a new password to the router.
See my post here and see if any of this applies to your friend's computer.
Hope this helps.
Greetings Tech Support Guy, The computer I wish to purchase has Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled, with a ticket to purchase an upgrade To Windows 7 Home Premium.
As I wish to use Windows 7 immediately (without bothering with Vista Home Premium) can you please advise, in detail, how I can delete Vista completely and install Windows 7 with minimum fuss.
All help greatly appreciated,
With Best Regards
When you get the Vista DVD, boot from it and choose Custom "advanced" installation. Then highlight the partition you want to put 7 on (preferably the Vista partition) then click "delete" (be careful which partition you choose) once the old Vista partition is deleted, be sure the new unallocated partition is highlighted and hit next to continue installing 7. Here is a screenshot, your partition structure may be slightly different.
I'm in a similar situation as this guy:
except when I boot up my disk, I only get to the 2nd step:
2) Progress Bar:
The next screen is a more graphical progress bar indicating Windows 7 is still working in the background.
it wont go past this screen.
The same thing happens when I boot it up normally(without the disk for windows 7 home premium), only with the disk in it has the windows 7 rather than the vista look.
Does anyone know what is causing this problem?
You've got this thread started too http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/1008564-laptop-hangs-loading-bar-screen.html
Is that one now solved too? You've marked this one solved, could you explain how you solved it in case others need to solve the same problem sometime in the future?
New to this forum. Just wondering if anyone can help me.
My problem is that my Laptop either crashes or freezes.
- It doesn't happen in Safe Mode
- I have attempted System Restore from a save point before the issue first happening , re-installing from hidden partition, and finally a complete format and re-installation of Vista.
I gather from this that it is probably software related, but really not sure how as I completely re-installed Windows.
Thanks in advance.
When you say crashes, what do you mean please?http://www.vistax64.com/crashes-debugging/303875-vista-32-home-premium-crash-issue.html

Welcome to the Vista x64 Forums Ray
Try this tutorial on speeding up Vista, it should help:
Speed Up the Performance of Vista
Let us know if that works for you.
"System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed. Details: An unspecified error occurred during System Restore".
Anybody know how to over come this? I have an issue on my pc that's driving me insane & I think the only resolve is a system restore.
Using Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 Bit.
I have purchased a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate (Full Version), but have not gotten around to upgrading yet. If I do an upgrade & then do a system restore will it revert back to Home Premium, or will I lose all previous restore points.
Is it better to install 32 or 64 Bit?
First let me explain that once a new system is installed, all previous restore points are removed. Therefore, you will not revert back to Windows Vista Home Premium using System Restore after Windows Vista Ultimate is installed. The only way to revert back to Windows Vista Home Premium is to reinstall Home Premium.
For the 32bit and 64bit question, you can refer to the following thread:
Currently, as you would like to install Windows Vista Ultimate, we can ignore the System Restore issue on Home Premium. I suggest back up your important files, format the drive and perform a Clean Install of Windows Vista Ultimate.
Hope it helps.

Hi all I'm having an issue with booting up my desktop that is frustrating me to no end Vista Premium Boot Home with 32bit issue Problem After a Blue Screen of Death upon waking my computer from sleep mode this morning whenever I boot up my machine the manufacturer logo comes up it starts spewing out some boot text as normal it gets to the point where it check to see if it can boot from CD and after it finishes checking that it does nothing if I have a disk it can boot from in the drive it prompts me to press any key and I can boot from the disk but if I wait long enough it fails the same way once it tries to boot 'normally' It just sits there The screen isn't blank it just doesn't try to do anything else as far as I can tell Things I've tried that had no effect Boot again This includes with unplugging all external hardware sans the mouse keyboard and monitor or even with unplugging the mouse and keyboard and leaving just the monitor Press f repeatedly on boot to get the advanced boot menu to come up It will not come up it will if I press f when it's booting from the recovery disk though but that only makes it use my chosen method on the recovery disk screen Startup Recovery Boot issue with Vista Home Premium 32bit using recovery Boot issue with Vista Home Premium 32bit disk The first time I did this it reported an an issue and said it fixed it but on the reboot it did nothing different Use a System Restore Point using recovery disk I tried multiple times even going back to my oldest Boot issue with Vista Home Premium 32bit restore point to no avail Set the active partition using DISKPART from the command line using the recovery disk See if I can find something using bootcfg from the command line but it can't open the boot ini file Here's a few other things I've considered trying but am reluctant to do before asking for a better solution A Reinstall windows on my primary drive or Repair if that's an option B Put a new installation of Windows on my large external drive and try booting from there backing up my important files to the external drive and then doing a reinstall on my primary drive C Somehow backup my files to the external drive without having to install windows on it and then reinstall windows or even completely wipe out the C drive partition and start fresh If anyone has any other things I should try first I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know The most important thing to me is preserving as much of my data as possible so solutions that don't involve losing it are best Thanks all
I would start with doing or attempting a repair install. That won't damage your files will will re-install Windows.
If that fails or if you'd rather access your files first, burn a boot disc like a Linux "Live" disc and copy your files to the external drive. I use Symantec Ghost boot disc as a method for doing this same type of file recovery.
Hi Sorry if I repeat what someone else already raised but did not find something matching my issue I recently installed Vista SP along with an upgrade of my Norton virus software and a Premium Office issue v Home Vista 2007 few issues seem to have reared the heads with it I Vista Home Premium v Office 2007 issue managed to work through problem DLLs EULALauncher issues and Quicktime failures but my problems Vista Home Premium v Office 2007 issue with my Microsoft Office Suite remain unresolved Basically I can open Word Powerpoint or Excel and Vista Home Premium v Office 2007 issue it seems to be going to work okay but within a second or two of opening I get a quot stopped working quot message and Microsoft is searching for a solution No solution is reported and the failed package closes I have Microsoft Office Home amp Office but though I installed off the disk I purchased I only see Microsoft Office Trial in the directory which I am very nervous to uninstall in case of further repercussions I did try to reinstall using the aforementioned disk but when I action the setup utility it too opens like it is going to work and very soon after closes without doing anything Anyone experienced similar issues and if so any recommendations to get Office back and working please
This leads me to believe that you might have installed the trial version that comes with Vista operating system.
Which is why the best solution is to uninstall this trial version completely from "Uninstall programs" in Control Panel and re-install the version you have on the disk.
I had the same exact problem yesterday as I was installing my 180 day trial version from a disk, and I had installed the 60 day trial version that comes with the operating system before hand. I went ahead and uninstalled the 60 day version, then re-installed the 180 version but when I opened any program it kept saying "Your software and trial have expired".
Hopefully for you, you have the full version that you bought, should definitely work just fine.
One of my clients went out and bought a cheap HP at Costco last spring which unfortunately has Vista Home Premium on it It originally connect to the office network which is actually a domain without a problem That is it couldn't log on the domain but it was able to use network resources such as shared drives printers and the Internet Fast forward six months later and Vista-Home got corrupted taking and update and I was forces to do a HP Reinstall So this time I go to connect it to the network via wireless and it wont accept the correct IP range from the DHCP servers instead of x it's going with which works fine for Internet but wont connect to network resources If I try to force networking issue Vista-Home-Premium [SOLVED] it it drops the Internet If I try to connect it via ethernet it [SOLVED] Vista-Home-Premium networking issue takes the default IP etc I changed the workgroup name to my domain name although don't recall that that [SOLVED] Vista-Home-Premium networking issue mattered My user name is an authorized user on the domain and I'm using the same password as the domain logon I have File sharing turned on I have the network set to private I can successfully ping my X computers I'm pulling my hair out here Upgrading to Vista Business is not an option as I have to have [SOLVED] Vista-Home-Premium networking issue this system working first thing for the engineer
The re-install may have caused the HP wireless manager (not sure if that is the exact name or not) to rear its ugly head again. Are you sure the laptop is using Windows wireless zero configuration?
Usually you can check if the HP wifi mgr is there via WIN-X keys. If it is, I would use SysInternals AutoRuns to disable it. Just locate it and un-check the box. You must run autoruns at an elevated admin level.

I am trying to connect to two computers that are connected to a Linksys Router using Remote Assistance on a Vista Home Premium Machine. I get the error message that the person you are trying to help may have closed remote assistance. I get the same message when trying to connect to either machine. I am guessing the problem is with a setting in the router, but I don't know what setting.
You should forward the ports on the router to the IP Addresses of the machines, that you want to connect to. On Symantec PC Anywhere, it is ports 5631 and 32, on Windows remote desktop connection it is port 3389 that needs to be forwarded.http://www.vistax64.com/network-sharing/140798-remote-access-vista-home-premium-vista-home-premium-xp-home-edition.html
I am working on a customer's Vista Home Premium desktop. This desktop has a dual-core AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+processor with 1 GB RAM. It is a 32-bit OS. It takes, at minimum, 5-10 minutes just to fully load the desktop upon startup. I have already scanned with MBAM and with AVG 2015 and it doesn't have any viruses or malware anymore. I have disabled many of the unnecessary startup programs but it still takes forever to finish the bootup. It also freezes up when scanning in normal mode with either program even after having removed the PUP's and two Trojans that MBAM found. It locks up whenever I try to open a program or delete a file as well. I ran CCleaner and it removed 250 MB of junk from temporary files and temp internet files and that was all.
I know something is wrong with it. I am at a loss of what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Falneth What's wrong with this desktop is that it uses one of the worst Windows OS ever made, with a low profile CPU and RAM. I wouldn't expect much from it, but I can take a quick look.MiniToolBoxDownload MiniToolBox and move the executable file to your Desktop;Execute MiniToolBox and check the following options:List Installed Programs;List Last 10 Event Viewer Errors;List Devices - Only Problems;List Users, Partitions and Memory size;Once this is done, click on Go and wait for the scan to complete;Once the scan is complete, a log will open. I have Vista Home with Sp2 on a HP dv9720us laptop, with 2M ram. My suystem is running very slow. I used Malwarebytes and it ran clean. I have McAfee but cannot get it to run past 70%. The computer locks up at that point.
Hi I have an HP Pavilion A n with Intel Core Ghz I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP I've had this computer since June and over time it has slowed down On February th I upgraded my RAM from GHZ to GHZ I installed all new Crucial memory This seemed to speed things up a little On February th I installed a new network adapter card Netgear Gigabit Ethernet PCI Adapter - GA - along with the Netgear driver provided on their CD I have noticed a longer startup time recently I'm not certain whether it had anything to do with either of these installations or if it is purely coincidental The event log showed that I had been getting the following quot Critical - Event ID - Boot Performance Monitoring quot as far back as - - more on that later in this post I have used a stopwatch to time the startup process and found that the time from hitting the power button until the logon Premium Home Vista Startup Slow screen comes up is usually between minute and seconds to minutes and seconds during this process the quot Microsoft Corp quot screen is displayed for approx minute seconds After I enter my password it takes between min seconds to minutes until it finishes loading applications The hard drive light will then continue to flash constantly for another mins and seconds to mins and seconds I have done some looking around the internet regarding this problem and I have learned that the load time after you enter your password can be affected by the number and type of startup items that you have Am I correct in assuming that startup items such as programs IM's etc don't affect the time from hitting the power button until the logon screen Vista Home Premium Startup Slow comes up What could cause slowdowns at this stage Please bear with me now because I am new to quot Performance Information and Tools quot On Vista Home Premium Startup Slow the quot Advanced Tools quot page under quot Performance Issues quot it lists warnings Drivers are interfering with Windows entering sleep mode View details Drivers are interfering with Windows resuming from sleep mode View details Under details for the preceding warnings Name- Intel Graphics Kernel Mode Driver Filename- igdkmd sys Device- Intel G Express Chipset family Date reported- JAN amp JAN The rd warning Performance can be improved by changing visual settings Under details it says The current visual settings might not result in the best computer performance You can try closing some windows turing off windows transparency lowering resolution or changing your color scheme to Windows Vista Basic In the quot Event Log quot under quot Diagnostics-Performance Operational quot I see quot Critical - Event ID - Boot Performance Monitoring quot Here is the quot Details quot tab info System - Provider Name Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance Guid cfc ec - b - eba- b- caee b a EventID Version Level Task Opcode Keywords x - TimeCreated SystemTime - - T Z EventRecordID - Correlation ActivityID - C - - DE - CF C - Execution ProcessID ThreadID Channel Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance Operational Computer Tino-PC - Security UserID S- - - - EventData BootTsVersion BootStartTime - - T Z BootEndTime - - T Z SystemBootInstance UserBootInstance BootTime MainPathBootTime BootKernelInitTime BootDriverInitTime BootDevicesInitTime BootPrefetchInitTime BootPrefetchBytes BootAutoChkTime BootSmssInitTime BootCriticalServicesInitTime BootUserProfileProcessingTime BootMachineProfileProcessingTime BootExplorerInitTime BootNumStartupApps BootPostBootTime BootIsRebootAfterInstall false BootRootCauseStepImprovementBits BootRootCauseGradualImprovementBits BootRootCauseStepDegradationBits BootRootCauseGradualDegradationBits BootIsDegradation false BootIsStepDegradation false BootIsGradualDegradation false BootImprovementDelta BootDegradationDelta BootIsRootCauseIdentified false I looked back in the event log and saw that I had been getting the quot Critical - Event ID - Boot Peformance Monitoring quot as far back as - - ... I forgot to mention that besides the startup being slow, Internet Explorer (internet response time) has gotten slower over time as well. (I have high speed internet through Cox).http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/205925/vista-home-premium-startup-slow/
Well, I've given up. I cleaned up lots of stuff but my laptop is stll extremely slow. Any help would be appreciated. It hangs a lot; sometimes the cursor freezes. Also slow to open Firefox.

CCleaner takes forever to clean.
Physical Memory sometimes boosts to 90+%. I'm gonna buy 2 or 4 gigs but I thought I could clean it first and make it a little faster.
I should have added more to my 1st post.
After booting up, got a mesage about daemon.exe unable to execute. Can't get rid of it (or find it).
I used Malwaresbytes in safe mode and cleaned more than1000 threats. Used CCleaner for registry. Also cleaned up with ADW Cleaner and Junkware Removal Tool. TDSSKller found no threats.
installed Avast after removing AVG.
Also did Defrag and Disk Cleanup.
Now, I just got a new computer, with Vista Home premium. Now, a free upgrade to window 7 came with it. All I have to do is download it from windows7upgradeoption.com. That should be simply enough, but for some reason my internet is painfully slow, I can't even load the page!
I use the exact same connection on my laptop (with xp home) , just switching the cable. And here I have no problem at all.
My new computer with:
AMD Athlon 64 7750 X2 2.7 GHz, 2MB cache 4 GB ram.
640 GB SATA II 7200RPM.
Nvidia 9500GT 1024MB DDR2 DVI/VGA.
22 x DVDRW Dual layer with Nero Express.
Software: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Nero Express, Norton Internet Security 2007
7.1 suround AUDIO (On board).
What can I do?
(a) you run Windows7UpgradeAdvisor first and check what may present you with an issue when you upgrade - e.g. Norton Internet Security 2007.
( contact the supplier and/or manufacturer of your PC re details about the upgrade option and how they have implemented it.
I may be missing something but the "windows7upgradeoption.com" you refer to seems to link to a validation phase in ordering upgrade DVDs not a download of the actual software?
Is your internet connection slow at other times?
Am using Vista Home Premium on a new and reasonably high spec PC. Suffering from annoying hang on boot - total boot takes around 3 min when all start progs disabled - otherwise Vista appears to be running OK. Have cleaned out all temp files but still slow. Boots fast and without problem in Safe Mode so suspect a software driver loading problem (all hardware drivers checked and OK). Boot event log shows mainpathboottime of 157 secs - other main time components are bootexplorerinittime (74 secs), bootuserprofileprocessingtime (32 secs), bootprefetchinittime (28 secs) and bootpostboottime (23 secs). Bootlog (ntbtlog.txt) shows two pages of drivers but does not show how long each one took to load and so do not know which one(s) causing the delay. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing problem and can anyone recommend a bootlog analyser (THAT WORKS WITH VISTA) that would give me the individual driver loading time and sequence?
I'd start with "perfmon /report" at the Start dialog.
After that, go to Control Panel (Classic View)...Performance Information and Tools...Advanced Tools...View performance details in Event log
That'll give exact times for boot issues that exceed the norm.
I have had my dell vostro 1400 for a little over a year and it has all the sudden slowed down drastically. I constantly clean out my internet history along with my temporary internet files and such. I also purchased a registry cleaning software called uniblue registry booster. I know how to defragment my hdd and how to do a disk cleanup. Oh I just went in and customized my startup menu for programs that I don't need to start right away. I have know idea what else to do, so if you could please help it would be great.

I seem to be having a couple issues regarding Outlook.
First, when I get to the home page to log in I get a message that says "There has been an error removing certificates from this workstation. Error (0X80070005): Access is denied.
Once I've logged in, I try to reply to my email and Explorer shuts down, then restarts.
How are you trying to access Outlook from IE?

To Whom I bought an HP Pavilion p f that came with Vista Home Premium installed on it I bought an OEM version of Windows XP Pro with the intention of downgrading the operating system I was told that our network which runs mostly XP Pro machines might suffer problems if we installed a computer not running Vista - I guess mismatched OS s might pose problems In any event after I booted to Vista I could not see an option to quot Install quot XP upon seeing the associated dialog box after inserting the disc while in the middle of XP Downgrade Pro p6101f Home to Vista - issue HP Pavilion Premium - a successful Vista session I then tried to boot to the XP CD in order to install XP and then restore the system HP Pavilion p6101f - Downgrade - Vista Home Premium to XP Pro issue I kept getting the Blue-Screen of Death The computer will begin to boot Fedora Linux Windows repair disk and maybe some others - but not XP Pro I want to install Windows XP Pro on my buddy s computer that came with Vista but I am physically incapable of doing so nbsp
I have a copy of Windows Vista Home Premium x86 and I want to DualBoot!!! Tell me: can I do this?? If I can, tell me how!!!
Well to do this you would need two product keys. Since you can only use one key on one installed system, to dual boot two vista OS you would need a seperate product key for each one, if you have two keys all you need are two seperate partitions to install them on.http://www.vistax64.com/software/271141-can-i-dualboot-windows-vista-home-premium-windows-vista-home-premium.html
About a week ago I noticed that my login for my account did not work. I was able to change the password and everything seemed fine. A few days Ago I noticed a error message saying that Mcafee was not working and it needed to shut down. This persisted every few minutes. Then eventually the microsoft security shield started appeaing on random icons and it started telling me when I started the programs that i had to approve them but in the processs it would just freeze up. My computer is now running terribly slow and each process takes many minutes even with no programs running. Explorer itself gets error message and closes frequently. I am not sure what this is because there are no very obvious signs of a virus besides many progams slowing. I ran malwarebytes as well as rkill but the problem persists. any help? thanks.
Hi jman19, I know it looks like a lot, but it's really just a lot of text asking for only 4 scans. Once you've done these and posted the results in your next post, let me know how the computer is running.Note: You may have to perform some or all of the following in Safe Mode With Networking, depending on if you have internet access while in the normal Windows environment.========================================================================================================================================================Download Security Check by screen317 from here or here.Save it to your Desktop.Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.========================================================================================================================================================Please download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware FreeDouble-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation. An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program. If it will not start, go to Start > All Prgrams > SUPERAntiSpyware and click on Alternate Start. If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here. Double-click on the hyperlink for Download Installer and save SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to your desktop. Then double-click on SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to install the definitions.)In the Main Menu, click the Preferences... button.Click the "General and Startup" tab, and under Start-up Options, make sure "Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts" box is unchecked.Click the "Scanning Control" tab, and under Scanner Options, make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):Close browsers before scanning.Scan for tracking cookies.Terminate memory threats before quarantining.Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program.Do not run a scan just yet.Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".Scan with SUPERAntiSpyware as follows:Launch the program and back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer. On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive. On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan and click "Next".After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally. To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor. Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.Click Close to exit the program. If you have a problem downloading, installing or getting SAS to run, try downloading and using the SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner instead. What is the make of your router? For best results, you need to be using devices of the same make. You should be able to obtain a suitable pcmcia card for your laptop, providing, of course, that it has an available slot. Otherwise, a USB device.
Hey guys I want to upgrade my OS from Vista Home Premium to Upgrade Premium Home to Windows 7 Home Windows Premium Vista Home Premium and I have the Anytime upgrade DVD provided at the time when I bought my laptop which came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium Since this is the first time I will ever try to upgrade my OS and I will be paying for it lol I wanted Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade to clear a few doubts before I went about it My current OS is a Deutsch German version I want my new OS to be in English So my question is - Will the upgrade process provide me with the option to choose an installation language I researched a bit about language packs and if I'm not very wrong Multiple language packs work only for Business and Ultimate versions but not for Basic and Home premium Third party language packs like Vistalizator has been reported to work fine but Microsoft doesn't recommend it and some users have reported to have problems where it pops the message quot your windows is not genuine quot So should I do an upgrade or just do a clean install with an Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade original Windows Home Premium DVD
I am not sure about the answer regarding the language pack, but I am sure about the upgrade or the clean install. Do the clean install. A clean install is always preferred over an upgrade. With an upgrade all the old problems that may exist with the OS are just carried to the new installation.
Upgrades often fail, either because of third party software that is not compatible, or malicious software that breaks in the new install.
There are some members that back up their stuff and do a clean install on a regular basis to have the OS run smoothly as the first day. Trust me go with the clean install and enjoy your new OS
My Vista home premium software running on a Dell Laptop has suddenly stopped letting me log on and just comes up as saying 'The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.' After a minute or so it then just logs itself off. We haven't changed the password or made any other amendments.
I don't have a disc to reload Vista and have many precious (to me!) documents on the laptop.
Any advice much appreciated
Can you get in using SafeMode
How to Start in Safemode
1. Restart your computer.
2. Before the windows logo you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
5. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode..

That particular network adaptor has been very problematic with Windows 7 for a long time now. Nothing but complaints about it not working with Windows 7 and this has been going on for a very long time now.
Your best bet is to try the latest drivers that are made for Windows 7.
Hello Aside from my introduction this is my first post I have a Dell Inspiron E running Windows Vista home premium home temporarily sometimes freezes runs premium Vista slow, SP -bit that has been running slow intermittently sometimes it's fine sometimes the windows load slowly programs like Word take a long time to start and are a drag to operate even while composing this message my text will freeze and I have to wait for what I've typed to show up on the screen and finally at times my whole computer freezes even the mouse Vista home premium sometimes runs slow, temporarily freezes pointer then after a while it will unfreeze Also more than once while trying to watch a video online it will freeze and play a loud repetitive noise from whatever part it was on when it froze and I end up manually shutting it off or even unplugging the laptop Now I noticed while searching for my system information that I'm only running on GB of RAM but I also think there is something wrong with my computer like Malware although I realize I could be overreacting I have gone on Microsoft's website to see how I could make Vista run faster and consequently uninstalled all programs that I did not recognize or use anymore except for the ones that came with the Computer and seemed important I regularly defrag and use the disk cleanup I have my IE set to clear my history after every browsing session and I have unticked many of the animations for Vista i e aero transparent windows animations while opening closing windows and finally I've gone into msconfig and stopped all start-up programs besides the ones from microsoft But it continues to run slow Needless to say it's frustrating not to be able to use my computer to read edit files browse the internet and stream videos without wondering if it's going to function properly Any help would be appreciated Thank you

Hello, I've just purchased my new HP computer from bestbuy a week ago. I did have the geeksquad perform a security setup which should take care of optimizing it. The OS is Vista Home Premium and it's got 3 gigs of ram. The processor is AMD Athlon(tm) 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 5600+2.80 GHz. It's got the latest version of IE and Windows Media Player on it. The problem is it is loading some videos and some webpage very slow (it's even slower then my old computer with windows 98). I've even ran the regCure and spySweeper on it and it doesn't seem to help. Isn't a windows Vista problem or is possibly wrong? Please help, what else can I do to help with it's slow video and page loading problem?

It's interesting what nasties these find,
My DELL INSPIRON 531S running WINDOWS VISTA SP2 64 BIT is VERY, VERY SLOW. Please HELP to find a way to make it run a little faster. It is frustrating and don't know what to do.
Click Start, then type MSCONFIG in the search or run box, then press the Enter key.
When the small "System Configuration" window appears, click the "Startup" tab.
Write down ONLY the names in the "Startup Item" column that have a checkmark next to them.
If the "Startup Item" column isn't wide enough to see the entire name of any of them, widen the column.
Submit those names here in a vertical list.
Make sure to spell them EXACTLY as you see them there.
Click Start, then type SERVICES.MSC in the search or run box, then press the Enter key.
When the "Services" window appears, expand it so you can see the list more clearly.
Write down ONLY the names in the "Name" column that have their startup type set on Automatic and Automatic (Delayed Start).
If the "Name" column isn't wide enough to see the entire name of any of them, widen the column.
Submit those names here in a vertical list and in alphabetical order.
Make sure to spell them correctly.
These are my "canned instructions", but you can submit thumbnail images instead of you want to.
Just make sure they're large enough and the required information is readable.

I have recently purchased a new Acer Aspire 5535 laptop. It has Windows Vista Home Premium (WVHP) installed.
The computer came with a number of programs that I am not interested in having on my system. In addition, I was not provided a restore disc. I do own a copy of Windows Vista Home Basic (WVHB).
I would like to keep WVHP as I appear to be eligible for an upgrade to Windows 7 . . . but I would like to reinstall to get rid of all these worthless programs. Can I use a WVHB disc with my new WVHP product key?
Could I install WVHB with the WVHB product key, then use the WVHP key supplied by Acer to upgrade?
Thanks for your time in answering my question. I hope it isn't unclear.
I believe that if you install with the Basic disc the process will offer you a choice
of versions. Choose Home Premium and complete the install. Activate with your
Acer's Vista Product Key.
I'm considering upgrading an old 530s from VISTA Home Premium 32 Bit to Win 7 Home Premium 32 Bit. Will an OEM version work and where can I get a fair deal on Win 7?

You should only have one active antivirus installed at any time. Multiple antivirus programs can cause false positives, it can even cause your computer to become unstable resulting in BSODs.

How did you reinstall Windows?
Is Firefox running slower than Chrome your only problem?

i recently got windows vista home premium and decided to upgrade my windows xp home edition SP3. It was going great until it needed to complete the upgrade. Up ntil 64% all was well. But once it hit 64% for awhile the computer shut down. After it shut down on its own i rebooted it and it said "upgrade unsuccessful. restoring your previous windows and settings. Do not turn off or restart your computer." I really want to know how to install it without any problems and i need help. Anything will be good and appreciated!
I have a Compaq Presario C301NR whit 2gigs of ram and 320gig HD. I still have the disc and everything and the computer was not harmed. After it shut down on its own
i am in the works on my new rig and my dumba-- bought windows upgrade without knowing it and tried to install it on my new hard drive so i was wondering since it needs vista to upgrade from is it possible to place my old hard drive from my vista computer and place it on my new motherboard and install the upgrade disk or am i going to have to buy the OEM?
If your new motherboard supports the old drive, you should be able to put it in. You will most likely need to boot up fully into Vista and let it find the new drivers for the motherboard first, or download and install them yourself. It's been awhile since I've swapped HDDs from mobo to mobo, but I am pretty sure you will need your chipset driver for your new motherboard..maybe get all of your peripheral drivers ready just in case..http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/140548-windows-7-home-premium-64-bit-upgrade-issue.html
Hi I have bit of a problem I have the following pc which Installation Issue Premium Home Windows I bought yrs ago so I suppose relatively old Compaq Presario SR UK Desktop PC - HP technical support United Kingdom - English Its running gb of mem GB duo core intel proscessor I cant remember the exact speed - i suffer dyscalculia but I bought this when duo core pretty much just came out if that helps Windows Home Premium Installation Issue back in march here in the uk from pcworld with Windows preinstalled To recall how this happened aint easy and TBH has been recurring issues for some time that I managed to sort with antivirus software but never Windows Home Premium Installation Issue truly sorted until i suppose it got out of hand fan whirling all the time and myself resorting to using the netbook i am on now At the time I thought it was just a bad virus that had somehow got in there so I tired various antivirus software like kapersky spybot which helped up to point at least got rid of some viruses but for somer reason it never truly fixed and whatefer the issue was This actually started to happen if I recall by doing a Microsoft update so as result I just ignored it as it just seemed to cause more problems too Tonight then I attempted to sort this using software I bought called Paragon disc manager My idea was to just formart it thinking it would delete replace anything else in there and then restore disc but unfortunatley this did not work out as planned When I ran the program it told me to run disc chceck - so I did and it found problems to fix although Paragon seemed to think otherwise so I decided to go ahead and install any way After this typing in the product key when coming to installation screen i got told this Windows cannot open required file J Sources Install wim The file does not exist Makes sure all files required for installation are available and restart Error code x I tired recbootfix from the command prompt - nothing I managed to get into safemode and doing another disc check but nothing too although the drive does appear formmated ie it says downloaded the original drivers from compaq site thinking It might help but as I have to install them before It can find them - no use ie it doesnt recognise at all So now Im left wondering what my options are as I cant really think of what else to do does any one have any suggestions thanks snoko
I have bit of a problem , I have the following pc which I bought 3 yrs ago , so I suppose relatively old Compaq Presario SR2125UK Desktop PC - HP technical support (United Kingdom - English)
Its running 2gb of mem as opposed to the 1 originally in there but other than and upgraded graphics card the same machine , duo core intel proscessor ( I cant remember the exact speed - i suffer dyscalculia ) and of course I cant boot up the pc to check and 140 gb if i recall .
To recall how this happened aint easy and tbh has been recurring issues for some time that I managed to sort with antivirus software , but never truly sorted until i suppose it got out of hand ( fan whirling all the time ) and myself resorting to using the netbook i am on now.
I tired various antivirus like kapersky , spybot but for somer reason it never truly fixed and whats worse was its was also not doing a system restore - which I dont think has ever happened to me before.
Tonight then I attempted to sort this , though I must confess I wasnt in the best frame of mind ( ill health plus 6 weeks of being stuck indoors thanks to weather you see )
Any how I got hold of this program called Paragon hard disc manager because i wanted a fail safe way to format the partition on my hard drive ( thinking it would help resolve whatever the funk was going on once and for all )
I also should not note i tried checking the intergrity or something like that , of the system files itself which of course I knew were not working , but it just told me to run check disc which I already tried unsuccessfully before any way .
So I just went ahead and formatted it and booted up the windows installation with recovery disc I had downloaded from site.. Nemo like the captain or something
So far so good and windows isntallation asks for the product key - which of course I have and type in , but after this fun n games begins.
Instead of it installing then , i get told this..
Windows cannot open required file:J:\Sources\Install.wim.
The file does not exist. Makes sure all files required for
installation are available , and restart Error code:0x80070002
With Love n Light,
ok- the last 2 lines are of course just my sarcasm or bad sense of humour, but this is where Im left so I wondering what my options are now.
Would fresh installation of from installation disc fix this , or any of the drivers so forth on that link , or am I up gumtree with this?
thanks for reading any way- as you can tell im pretty stupid but i can read ...sometimes

A New development to my previous issue is if I run the run accessorie and type in explorer.exe then end the biggest explorer process on my computer it opens up anything I have selected in the startup menu and I can freely browse through my files but when ending the initial explorer.exe the bar at the bottom with the start menu and tray disappears and never returns and if I click to shrink the window i have open on the manually run explorer.exe it shrinks to bottom left hand corner to just a small bar above where the start menu should be. Either running explorer.exe manually or not when I close explorer.exe it will not restart. Is this repairable because it is very suspicious.
Okay here s what happened Played battlefield last night for a good while and then turned off the computer My sister turned it on today and got a BSOD with stop error x Supposedly this is linked 7 Premium with BSOD bit Home issue 64 Windows to RAM issues So I removed my after market ram and it gave me the same issue Then I removed my OEM RAM and put stick of after market in and my computer worked So BSOD issue with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit I thought huzzah this is great But it was really slow so I restarted it Next thing I know I m faced with the same error Anyways long story short I tried startup repair system restore last known good configuration booting into safe mode pretty much everything and it just got worse and worse until I couldn t even get into safe mode so I can t do anything BSOD issue with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with my computer now I found out on another forum that using a registry cleaner can result in this error and that s exactly what I did last night I used CCleaner registry cleaner which has always been fine before and I think that might be the cause of the issue I also had trouble with AVG yesterday and it wasn t on for a while while I was on the internet so this could be malware as well I really don t know So I tried a repair install but it wouldn t let me do that because I couldn t boot into Windows so essentially now what I have done is install Windows Home Premium SP on my second HDD that was empty in this computer and now I m running Windows on it Would someone please give me some advice on how to get rid of this stop error and boot back into the inital Windows version on my initial HDD I m going to have to fix the registry somehow If you need any additional information I ll try to get it for you
From what I see...that error has nothing to do with RAM, indicates a hosed registry.
<<I found out on another forum that using a registry cleaner can result in this error and that's exactly what I did last night, I used CCleaner registry cleaner (which has always been fine before) and I think that might be the cause of the issue.>>
From what I see...you can try last known good...if that doesn't work, the general recommendation by the more knowledgeable that I've seen is a clean install.
See http://captaindbg.com/how-to-restore-registry-hives-on-windows-7/ , might be worth the effort.
Also...see comments by AA at Offline Restore, Registry Hives, AA - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic393442.html . I know that the issues diescussed are for an XP system, but they may also apply to Win 7.
Hello! I was trying to make an image of my pc using windows 7 image backup tool, and using DVDs.
The problem is that i keep getting the message asking me to format the DVD (+R). When i do that it then asks me to lable a dvd and insert it...and then... i am asked to format again..and label ( exactly the same label ), press continue...and format...and label..and so on... so the process gets like stuck in the burning of the first DVD.
The CD-DVD writer is ok.
And thanks for your time
Windows back up in my experience is not totally trustworthy, even more so, if using DVD's. Their are many free & paid tools that do it better.http://www.sevenforums.com/backup-restore/175019-windows-7-home-premium-imaging-issue.html
Hi, I've been having BSOD problems(I don't actually see a BSOD the power just goes off) ever since I upgraded from Vista Home Premium to 7 Home Premium.
It occasionally happens during start-up or randomly(no specific program or website) at other times. It will also occasionally freeze and then I need to reboot.
I'm new at this and not tech savvy so hopefully I've included all relevant information. If not please be kind.
Original O/S: Vista(came pre-installed)
Windows 7: Upgrade Version
System hardware is about 4 to 5 years old
Age Of Windows 7: I upgraded to 7 about 3 months ago
No DMP included...
We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.
If you are overclocking STOP
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.
To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.
I have the student download of windows 7 home premium and after downloading and starting installation, it isnt compatible to upgrade from vista home premium. So do I have to burn some sort of dvd for installation, or can i just install from the download i was told to save on my desktop and let it do it's thing?
Try making a DVD out of it, and doing a clean install.
Make bootable iso from student d/l

The likelihood is that you simply need to use operator activation.
telephone activation (operator calls)
Click on the Start button
in the Search box, type

follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

Hi melkiadark & welcome to sevenforums.
Here's the relevant part of the MGADiag report:
License Status: Notification
0xC004F009 (grace time expired).
Remaining Windows rearm count: 3
Run attached & see if it you have windows product key in registry.
You said Refurb PC, does it have product key sticker on machine? desktop usually on left side bottom. laptop usually on bottom or inside battery compartment.
You can enter this in elevated command prompt 3 times total, which has not been done yet according to MBADiaglog, but it's a temporary fix and resets the trial period.
After repairs and installation of a new hard drive I am unable to connect with my HP LaserJet 5MP. I have installed a Gigaware 6 foot USB-A to Centronics Parallel Printer Cable and installed its software. I also got Windows to find the 5MP driver but removed the printer when I found it did not work and tried reloading and finding it again.
It seems that you cannot choose add a printer with usb as "Windows will find it". It does not seem to be locating it when selecting add a device. I mistakenly chose the first time to add a printer and that is when Microsoft did find the driver.... but again it says not to choose "Add a local printer if you have a usb"
The printer will produce it's own test page.
Has it ever worked using that cable and converter?
I've not had any luck using USB to parallel converters. So that would be my first suspect.
Hi, I am using my daughter's Dell laptop which is currently on Windows 7 Home Premium. She had a guest account already set up so I decided to use that one so as not to interfere with hers.
I loaded a new program I had recently bought which was all working ok until I came to the end which involves creating an ebook from all the information I had keyed on. (This was supposed to create an html file). Unfortunately this doesn't appear to be working.
I tested the same program on her administrator account and it worked perfectly. Does anyone know what I'm missing on my user account or what I need to do in order to make it work. The information I keyed in took ages and I don't want to start again if possible.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and would prefer idiot proof instructions for newbie.
Ishjana, Welcome to TSG!
Perhaps your problem is the user account you are using does not have permission to execute the command asked.
Since you have access to your daughters account you can sign into her account and change the permissions of the user account you are having trouble with. To do that follow these instructions:
3.Right click on the Hard Disk icon where your OS is installed on and click Properties.
4.Click the Security tab.
5.Click the Advanced tab.
6.Click the Change Permissions button located after the Permission Entries list.
7.A new window will appear on your screen. The window contains a list of all the user accounts available on your computer.
8.Select the user account you want to give total control over your Windows 7 and click the Edit button.
9.There are many selections available but try ticking the checkbox labeled “Total Control” and press OK.
10.Make sure the Apply to box is set to this folder, subfolders and files.
Now log out of your daughters account and back into the user account and retry creating the html file.
Hope that helps
I am trying to access my Laptop using Remote Desktop, but unfortunately after hours of troubleshooting I gave up :-(
I hope the following feedback of what I've done or observed will help solve this issue:
- No listening on TCP Port 3389 was displayed after executing netstat in cmd line
- Remote Desktop Service in services.msc is set to automatic and restarted several times
- TermService running in Task Manager with PID 1196. Netstat shows however that UDP is listening on port 5355 for that PID
- RD access is activated accordingly in the system control panel.
- Deactivating the firewall didn't help
- May be an important observation : Since following two drivers are not listed under the Device Manager:
Remote Desktop Services Security Filter DriverRDP Winstation Driver
I found those two under my windows 7 pro OS on another PC and in several postings in internet related to this topic.
Thanks in advance for your help !!

Hey guys, I'm in a Computer Repair class, and I've been given a project that's a little over my head. A client came in and dropped off his Toshiba Satellite C855D laptop, saying the startup time is very slow. I timed the startup time at 7 minutes. The start up time break down is: from button push to welcome screen: 50 sec; from welcome screen to desktop: 6 min 6 sec.
I've done all I could think of doing, from disabling start up programs to running a check disk. I also ran an AVG whole computer scan, and a MalwareBytes scan with no results from either. The hard drive isn't fragmented at all, I ran Disk Defragmenter. I ran CCleaner so, as far as I can tell, nothing is bogging down the system and there's no registry errors. I just don't know what could be causing this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
Is all its memory working and available to Windows? Right click on Computer, select Properties. The main screen will tell you how much is installed but will also tell you if some of it isn't available if that's the case.
Event Viewer may be able to pinpoint a slow bootup service. Or look into using Soluto which is rather good at identifying slow driver loading, services or startup progs.
I am posting beforehand this .txt file which says some critical condition, error and warning advices on some processes. Please help since I just reformat my pc for good and know it seems its taking A lot longer than it used to.
If you guys need any more information or logs let me know and I'll post them. Thanks beforehand!
I don't know what is wrong with your computer. I can tell you what I do to clean up my computer after a reformate.
1. Download Revo Uninstaller and run.
It will display all of the programs installed on the computer. Typically, there is a substantial amount of bloatware that can be removed. Remove the junk. Run the Junk File scanner and delete the junk.
2. Download Glary Utility and run 1-click scan. Repair.
3. Glary Utility has a Registry defrager. Run and defrag the registry.
4. Run Windows Disk drive degramentor.
This does take some time but usually results in a well running computer.
Best of luck!

Im formatting a Hp Pavilion dv2500. It had preinstalled Vista Home Premium and did not come with install disks. Is there a way to Download and verify the download using the Vista Home Premium preduct key on the laptop or do i have to upgrade from windows XP?
Should be a Recovery Partition there or some HP utility to burn a recovery disc.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/263634/windows-vista-home-premium/
whilst running a windows update recently my system refused to restart, error message cannot restart due to a critical missing or corrupt system driver.
It will now not even start up using the original system disc so I cannot carry out a repair.
The exact error message is as follows.
Status ;0xcoooooof Info Windows failed to load because a critical system driver id missing or corrupt.
When I get to the login screen on my tower, I am met with an error message that says "The User Profile server failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded." On the windows support website, it tells you to create a new account and copy the files to it. But I can't create a new account, because it requires you to be logged on, which I can't. Is there any way to fix this without getting it fixed at a shop?
Hi, have a careful read of this:-
I have a laptop,Vista Home Premium installed, for last 2 weeks I am trying to install Windows update, it displays the following message : Vista 80070424 Windows update encountered an unknown error.
I have AVAST as Antivirus / malwarebytes and spywareblaster installed on this laptop.
When I had previously installed Spybot Search and Destroy, got Security Warning sign, from User account control, letting me know that All 4 Security features are not on, I did checked it, everything was ok. Is this spyware compatible with Vista or not, let me know please
Any helpful suggestion and advice are welcome and appreciated
If you use Spybot's Teatimer function, you need to disable itTeaTimer works by preventing ANY changes to the system. Open SpyBot Search and Destroy by going to Start -> All Programs -> Spybot Search and Destroy -> Spybot Search and Destroy. If prompted with a legal dialog, accept the warning.Click and then on "Advanced Mode"
You may be presented with a warning dialog. If so, press Click on Click on Uncheck this checkbox:
Close/Exit Spybot Search and Destroy
I am getting error code 1073741288 Network location awareness service and DHCP services will not start. DHCP services gives access denied error when trying to start. Cannot connect to the internet lan or wireless. I have checked my dependencies on the services listed below.

Does any have an idea on correct these errors? Thanks

Hi Visha, Welcome to the Forum.
It is best to install all the programs that you are going to use on 7 it is possible that by going to Vista program files that some of them will work just by clicking on the .exe but you are running the risk of corrupting both OS's
Best to leave D:\ well alone this is where your complete system restore files are located. You might need them someday should you ever want to reinstall/repair Vista
I installed windows on my new computer last night but there was no areo. so my question is does home premium come with areo and if so what did i not do righthttp://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/windows-vista-home-premium-64-bit-347403.html
Im looking at Newegg, and I see that if you buy Vista now, you can get windows 7 upgrade free later. Is this only for people buying it now? Or does windows realise how much they failed and give everyone with Vista an upgrade?
This happens with all Microsoft products when new one's are scheduled to be introduced. It's a marketing ploy that moves the cash flow up in time (so they get their money sooner rather than later).
In this case it's been available since late June and is targeted at those people buying computer stuff for "back to school".
Computer closed down as normal yesterday. This morning I turned my laptop on and all I am getting is blue screen with "Logging off" message. If I close and try and re-start I just get the same screen and message.
Any assistance would be gratefully received.
Did you make any changes to the system prior to the shutdown? Any updates isntalled etc?
Please try and boot the machine into safemode (Press F8 during start). If this works, try restoring the system to a previously known working restore point.
my backup willnot work

Ok this is a profile error where it cant load up the direct path to a registry key that contains the profile info, basically it cant load up an old profile that may be deleted
1. Start\Run and type "Regedit.msc"
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
3. Go through the profile list and delete the one that has previously been deleted or shouldn't be there, The ones you search through are highlighted in the picture. DO NOT DELETE THE ONES AT THE TOP OF THE PROFILE LIST
4. Once done you should be able to back up straight away
When I'm trying to play some games, Internet Explorer keeps flashing a box that says "Internet Explorer has shut down this site" Then I have the option to close the program, or have internet explorer try to resolve the problem and return to the site.
I always have it resolve the problem, but it does it so often, and sometime that means that I can't get back to the people who I am playing with. So far it usually happens when I'm playing on the Winster site. I allow pop-ups when I'm playing....but don't know if that has anything to do with it!
I haven't tried to fix the problem, as I have no idea what to do. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
Try flushing your dns cache
1. Click the Microsoft Vista Start logo in the bottom left corner of the screen
2. Click All Programs
3. Click Accessories
4. RIGHT-click on Command Prompt
5. Select Run As Administrator
6. In the command window type the following and then hit enter: ipconfig /flushdns ( make sure you put a space between ipconfig and / )
When its finished you should see it saying this
Windows IP Configuration
Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.
Good Luck let us know how this goes !

This sounds like it could be a bad CD. Try borrowing one from a friend or something and see if you get the same error.

I have an HP Pavillion with MANY upgrades. AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.5GHz, 4.00GB RAM, 32-bit OS, 931 GB capacity, GeForce GTX 650 video Card, DirectX runtime 11.0. Ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and it said:HP Pavillion might give me more info (couldn't find anything), Update Netgear WNA3100 N300 Wireless USB Adapter, Update NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet... the rest are programs that might not run on the new OS. So my question is can I purchase Windows 10 and install it on my HP Pavillion? Can someone smarter than I, please advise me on what to do from here? Since I just got a new Hard drive, I do not have anything on it... so now is the time. I have installed a couple of programs...do I need to uninstall them so I can us the registration code when I reinstall on a new OS?
CompAreNotMe Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about wanting to upgrade your Vista PC to Win10 and wanted to help. First off, I hope you realize that there is no Upgrade Path from Vista to Win10. This means that you will not be able to migrate anything from Vista to Win10 and you will have to reinstall all your apps from scratch. My biggest concern about what you are doing is in two areas:1) Drivers2) Apps In terms of the first, without knowing your detailed product number, I can not confirm it, but I suspect there are no HP Win10 drivers for your PC, and perhaps, not any Win7 drivers either. IF you follow these instructions for finding the detailed product number, I can do a search to confirm this: Finding Your HP Product Model Number | HP® Customer Support In terms of the second, MS has made some huge changes to their OS internals since the Vista days and I would not be surprised if NONE of your Vista apps work anymore. You should check each one and confirm that there is at least a Win7 version of each app, and preferrably, a Win10 version. At this point, my advice is NOT to proceed with the Win10 installation. We can proceed once you provide the information.Thankshttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/Vista-Home-Premium-to-Windows-10/td-p/5587789
I have a win Vista Home premium laptop. I want to install the Symantec Antivirus into it. After I have install it, The sysmantec icon is disable which I cannot enable it. Pleas advise me. what is the problem? Or how to set the account security? Thanks
Hi and Welcome.
Are you running any other anti-virus or firewall program?
Have you tried to un-install Norton A/V then re-install it?
I would suggest that you remove Norton from your system, then re-install the Norton A/V again.
Click on the Norton RT link in my signature area and download it to your desktop. Then right-click on the Norton RT desktop icon and select Run as Administrator. Let the removal tool run, then re-boot.
Re-install Norton A/V and see if you can access it via the icon you are speaking of.
