Aspire 3680 Recovery Issue

Q: Aspire 3680 Recovery Issue

I run a Aspire 3680 2022 Laptop and every time i load it normally i get the Bluescreen at my desktop, causing me to run in safe mode with networking prompt. I tried to use the eRecovery on my Recovery disk, But it says, "not D2D system, eRecovery cannot be installed". I have D2D enabled at my boot screen, but pressing Alt+F10 does nothing.

Any Suggestions?

Preferred Solution: Aspire 3680 Recovery Issue

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you are looking for a new Acer boot Disk then you'll have to pay for one from Acer.

Have you tried to test for bad RAM or try and boot into safe mode?

I have an Acer Aspire 3680 with 1.5 GB ram with Vista Home. I upgraded it to Windows 7. Now everything is fine except the fact that Acer has not made any Utilities (like "Acer Empowering Technology) for Windows 7.

Is it possible to use such Utilities from other (later) Acer models? If so, which one should I use.

Thanks.

A:Utilities for Acer Aspire 3680

I've used later model drivers on my previous gen machines before with good effect. Try to find a model with hardware similar to yours, then download and install the drivers for it.

I won't say this won't mess up your computer though.

To see your hardware, try this excellent program.

I recently bought this new notebook that came preloaded with Vista that you had to buy a license to activate it. I already had a new copy of xp pro so I installed that system. I was able to download all the drivers that I needed for xp from their web site. The only problem is that I cannot get the computer the install the ethernet controller drivers. I often have this kind of problem with my other computers, just not very knowledgeable on that sort of thing. Any helpfun hints would be greatly appreaciated.

A:Acer aspire 3680 notebook

I had a hard time finding the driver, or rather one that worked. If you send me your email address I will forward it to you. I don't remember where I found it otherwise I would send you the link. I just wish ACER was like Dell and would send a restore disk with all the drivers. I'm having problems downloading the drivers I need from their site. My CD Rom just stopped working AGAIN .... Have a good one.

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire 3680 and yesterday, when I tried to boot up, it gives a black screen, no images, prompts, sounds etc. I can hear the fan and the lights on the front are on.

I have read many posts and tried some things but I am now lost. I have tried;

*Plugging in external monitor - cannot get anything on second screen
*Taking out battery, draining power, restarting numerous time - no luck
*Hitting function keys to try to get to set-up screen - no luck

The memory is very full (close to capacity) althouh I'm not sure if this is related.

I have read in some posts about dowloading BIOS files on a memory stick but I can't find any information specific to the 3680.

Thanks in advance for your help. I really need to get booted up so I can recover and backup a lot of personal files and photos.

Regards

Hello and welcome to TSF, bache!

Do you have the original Vista DVD or would you prefer XP over Vista?

If you don't have the Vista DVD, try calling up Acer as I have and ask for a recovery disc, or maybe a new Vista DVD. You never the magic they might make happen.

Hello everyone! I'm seeming to have a very strange issue with my wifi. I have very good wifi in my bedroom, however when I move just 10-15 feet over in the other room I lose it completely. I was able to keep the wifi connection throughout the house not too long ago, so this is just a new problem. I have an Acer Aspire 3680, and my wireless network adapter is Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter. The wifi connection is strong throughout the house, I can prove this because my phone wifi, AND my ipod touch wifi are able to keep 5 bars even if I go outside on the porch. Anyways, any help is appreciated. Thank you for reading.

Hello,

I have an ACER Aspire 3680 laptop. About 1 year ago, I purchased an OEM battery (compatible based on number match) to replace the manufacturer's battery that had stopped charging. I installed the battery, plugged in the AC adapter and turned on the computer. Once fully booted, the battery icon said "Battery not found". The laptop works as long as it's plugged in to the AC adapter, but powers off immediately if the adapter is removed.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or a software issue. My thought is that it might be solved by updating a driver, but it could also be that the hardware that converts the AC to charge the batter is defunct.

I appreciate all suggestions!

Removing the 512 mb card (slot 1) and replacing it with a 2gb card works fine.  Reinstalling the 512 mb card in slot 2 also works fine.  Replacing the 512 mb card in slot 2 with a 2nd 2gb card does not work.  The computer power light  comes on but only a black screen follows.  To verify that the 2nd 2 gb card is good I have replaced the 2 gb in slot 1 with the 2 gb that doesn't work is slot 2 and it works fine in slot 1.  The user's guide states upgrading ro 4 gb is permissible using 2 each 2gb cards.  Am I missing something?  HELP!

Hi, I'm interested in purchasing an Acer Aspire 3680-2682 laptop with an intel celeron M 440 from a friend (for less than $300,) the same laptop featured in this add http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Acer...psm/oid/185211/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do#tabs
He has had no problems with it, but decided to buy a better, gaming oriented laptop. I don't really mind for gaming or plan to run programs with high demand of speed power, but I wanted to know what processors are compatible in case I wanted an upgrade to a faster CPU (if it's even possible, since I know some CPUs come soldered to the main board) or if it's even worth it to go all the way for an upgrade.

A:Acer Aspire 3680-2682 processor compatibility

Never plan on upgrading the CPU in a laptop, even if it is socketed, there is often BIOS limitations and there is always heat dissipation issues.

Laptops are designed to be able to "just cope" with the heat generated by the CPU that they ship with. A faster one, if possible to fit, generates more heat. That would "speed step" the processor back to save it from destruction, resulting in probably no improvement.

Apart from HDD and RAM, laptops are not upgradeable.

Hi,

Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop, upgraded to Windows 10, does not always start. It needed a new battery, so I bought one.

I did the discharge procedure, taking the battery out, holding the start button down, and that works occasionally.

One weird thing that does happens is this. If I take the battery out, plug in the charger, the power light does not come on. Put the battery back in and with the power cord plug in, the power light comes on.

Sometimes it will start with just battery power, other time with power supply plug in.
What is going on? Help please!

I wasn't able to find information for this at Acer Support. But I did find this on another forum:

For those that is still interesting in knowing how to create an eRecovery disk in Acer Aspire 4720Z:

When you start your computer press F2 {it will take you into your BIOS}; go over to Main; go down to D2D Recovery {make sure it is enabled}; F10 save; then your computer will restart.

When your computer boots: Press Alt+F10; it will bring up Acer eRecovery Management {at the bottom} click on Burn Disc; then click on Create factory default disc; insert a blank disc in burner; click next. It will give you step by step instruction on how to burn your disc; it will also inform you of when to change to another blank disc.
[Estimated image size is 6.4 GB. You will need either {blank} 11 CDS or 2 DVDs].

Hi, I just purchased an Acer E15 model laptop, and I can't seem to create any recovery media using a Lexar 16GB USB 3.0 drive. The entire process is gone through like the recovery creation tool is actually writing to the USB drive, right down to formatting it and having me wait for it to copy over to the thumb drive, but at the very end it says that it failed to create the drive. I haven't been able to find any references to this problem for Win10, though I did find a bugfix that was posted for Win8.1. So I am wondering if that bugfix would work in my case even though I'm on Win10. Otherwise... how can I either obtain or create a recovery drive?

On my Acer Aspire [E11 ES1-111M-C9VZ] I have created a USB recovery drive, in the creation routine there was no option to delete the recovery partition. Now that I have a recovery drive established, I would like to delete to recovery partition (9GB) to gain this space in the primary partition. As suggested by someone on the Forum (Can't find the article anymore), I tried also to use the DOS command DISKPART> LIST DISK, SELECT DISK, LIST PARTITIONS, SELECT PARTITION (4 in my case) and finally used the DOS command: DELETE PARTITION OVERRIDE and I got this response: VIRTUAL DISK SERVICE ERROR:DELETE IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE CURRENT BOOT, SYSTEM, PAGEFILE, CRASHDUMP, OR HIBERNATION VOLUME. So what can one do now? Any hint wouldbe very much appreciated, thank you

I need to reset my Aspire to factory default settings and am trying to create a USB drive for a recovery method. However, this is not working and when I click the relevant help section on the Acer website I am told to go to the drivers and manuals section of the Acer website, enter my serial number then click on the patch tab to download a file called. 'Fix windows8 recovery issue by USB flash Driver'. The file does not appear under under the patch tab and therefore I am left in the same situation. I need to get this factory reset done before Acer refuses to honour my warranty which they have agreed to do up until now as a goodwill gesture.

My guess is that the recovery disks are designed to be used independently, and the flash drive doesn't know the right file location for the 2nd disk. Not sure how you would fix that. You may have to try to get an optical drive to connect and recover the system.

ACER DOES NOT SUPPORT DUAL BOOT COMPUTERS ACER RECOVERY DVD DOES NOT RECOVER HARD DRIVES WITHOUT PARTITIONS I have an Acer Aspire M on which I wanted to run dual boot with Linux I tried to install Ubuntu more on that in another thread and it unhid the recovery partition Aspire recovery fails - DVD Acer on the hard drive which caused problems when booting Since I had the recovery DVD s I assumed and you know what they say about assuming that it would reload my machine if I had Acer Aspire - recovery DVD fails a problem Proceeded Acer Aspire - recovery DVD fails to do a full install of Ubuntu AMD- its an Intel -bit machine but the AMD version works wonderfully Decided I needed to have Vista up and running due to connectivity problems with one of my printers and tried to recover the machine To make a long story short I wiped all the partitions off the machine and went to relaod Kept getting quot Type Mismatch quot error from a bit program during the recovery Called Acer and they said they do not support dual boot machines if the partitions are changed the recovery DVD does not work then proceeded to explain that I would have to send the entire computer back to them to restore the hard disk needless to say I was irrate Hard disk partitioning is one of the simplest of proceedures and the tech support folks refused to aide me in this After reloading Ubuntu I looked at the recovery disk and found some files that define the partitions on the computer As I find out more and can develop a work around I ll post on this thread Those of you that were able to get your recovery DVD to work on a wiped hard disk please post how you did it If you are in the same situation as I am please note that too If you have a Vista based Acer my recommendations is not to change the configuration The recovery DVD requires that the partitions be intact and that they be of the sized defined on the DVD Work is ongoing to make an extractor for the DVD to reload your ACER by third parties Other sites recommend getting a copy of the OEM version of Vista that you are running in order to restore your machine The OEM version will allow you to input your computer s key code This should solve dual boot issues you would have However using the ACER recovery DVD is not going to be an option nbsp

Hi, Welcome to TSG and thanks for the info.
I can't help with the issue you raise but I suggest you take your email addr out before it gets picked up by a spambot.
People will reply in this thread or by pm.

Spambot: Def from a spamguide

"What is a spambot?

A Spambot is a piece of software, a program that someone has written. Which language it was written in does not matter, but most are probably written in C for speed and portability reasons. A spambot should not be confused with regular robots, also known as spiders or web-crawlers.
A spambot starts out on a web page. It scans the page for two things: hyperlinks and email addresses. It stores the email addresses to use as targets for spam, and follows each hyperlink to a new page, starting the process all over. Spambots also usually do not follow the guidelines in the robots.txt file, like civilized robots are supposed to. Most spambots are a part of a larger program, allowing them to send out the spam to email addresses as it find them. Others merely store the email addresses for later use.
Spambots vary in their intelligence and sophistication, but even the smartest can be fairly easily fooled by the tricks on this site. The simplest spambot would simply find mailto links, and follow each hyperlink as it comes up, until it reaches a dead end. The smartest ones can recognize email addresses in many forms, recognize dead links, avoid certain types of email addresses (such as *.edu and *.gov) and track many pages at once."

The problem is that its been stuck at the same process for about 4 hours know. Its at 4/12 and it says eRecovery management please wait... There also is no D:/drive and before the recovery i had both c and d. All i have know is the c drive and the hidden drive for the recovery. I have no idea if it should really be taking this long to recover from the reboot or its just stuck. Please help if you can

Hi,

I'm looking at recovering my Acer Aspire L5100 Vista Home machine to as I bought it.
I don't have any recovery CD's and from looking around for any guides I cannot find anything on how to recover an Acer Aspire L5100.

With no recovery CD and no Vista disc, how would I go about recovering the PC to the start?

I thought it would be built in but according to my disk management, see the screenshot, the part of the disk I thought seems to all be free.

Can someone please tell me where I can download the recovery disc, or order it in the united states. I found a website, but it is in the U.K. and I am in a real hurry to have this. So I downloaded 8.1 to a USB and booted from that. But I don't have the product key as it's tied to the bios? EHCI something to do with it?

What is the PC make and model, and exactly what drivers were missing after you followed the steps for Clean Reinstall Factory OEM to a driver-complete OS? At the most after all Updates are done there should only be a handful still missing which our driver specialists here can find in no time.

How to download recovery for this laptop

A:How do I download recovery for Aspire 5733z-4633?

The recovery media is not available for download. If you need to restore the system back to factory configurations you can try the steps at this link: http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2631.

If this doesn't resolve the issue or if you are unable to get into the system to restore, you can purchase the recovery media from the Acer store at http://store.acer.com/.

I purchased an Acer Aspire 5534 a few years back for my granddaughter and the PC is inoperative. It seems the master boot is totally corrupted and the only solution is rebuild the system but my daughter no longer has the disks that came with the computer. Acer says they don't have the recovery disks for this computer.

Is there anyway to see if someone on the Internet has a recovery disk for this computer?

"Usually" the Acer recovery partition was a hidden partition; inaccessible by the usual means; at least it was some time back. Sometimes called a PQ partition if I remember correctly (at least for Acer laptops a wee while back). It was usually first item on the hard drive too.You seem to suggest that the system was initially Vista; then you took it up to win-7... Possibly in the process of going to win-7 the (Vista) recovery partition was destroyed; or at least overwritten by a win-7 version? This rather olde post has a very helpful response from Johnw - it's the best answer entry too.http://tinyurl.com/hl8nugxFollow John's routine and see if you can "see" any evidence of a recovery partition? This is another approach too:http://tinyurl.com/l7u3q5zand this may also explain "your" particular drive partitioning as was and possibly is now:http://tinyurl.com/hr4jceoIt would appear that in some more recent systems the PQ/Recovery partition is now flagged as D: ; and thus if per chance your IT chums got at that D partition on your laptop.. then they erased its contents when they reformatted it...?

I've been handed an Acer Aspire E360 desktop that should have Media Center on it but is missing the c:\windows\system32\hal.dll file. The recovery partion (<ALT> + F10) refuses to run also.

I ordered the 6 cd Recovery Disk set from Acer to try and roll this system back to factory.

When I boot from the System Disk it asks for a language and then to insert the:

(RCD[Backup Disc DVD1/CD2])

into the optical drive. After inserting and clicking on OK it runs for a few seconds and ejects the disk then shows the exact same prompt. It just loops on this. If I insert any other disk it complains about a missing file and I have to reboot.

How do I get this system to reload Media Center from Acer's disks?

Acer does not come with recovery discs. It has a recovery partition from which you can make recovery discs. if you did not do that, you can go to:

Click on "eRecovery Disc Purchase". Acer does not come with recovery discs. It only comes with a recovery partition from which you can make recovery discs. If they discs were not made you'll find the provided website useful

A:Recovery from HD failure on Acer Aspire M5-581T, Win8

Sounds like it is really messed up and you are losing a lot of time and headaches.

It would be better to do a factory restore, you could order factory restore discs from Acer for a nominal charge if the recovery partition is corrupted. Make sure that the drive is healthy, do the S.M.A.R.T. test diagnosis tool from Acer verifying the health of the disc. As always, backup your data first.

Hi, the inbuilt recovery option does not always work correctly.
You may need to use the recovery Cd from Acer.
Acer Support.
http://support.acer.com/us/en/default.aspx

Check - 'Accessory Store
Accessories, and eRecovery CD's for your Acer product'.

If this is a Netbook with no Cd drive.- you will need an External USB Cd drive, similar to the one shown here.

Hi,

Just that, can the ACER laptop be partitioned without losing the option for factory recovery?

I've recently did a factory recovery for someone's ACER laptop and it's still running a little slow.

Can I partition the 449GB hard drive to separate the docs, music. photos (has 71GB of photos and music) from the operating system to see if it will speed up the laptop without losing the factory recovery option. Anyone?

Thanks,

John

A:Can Acer Aspire V5-531 be partitioned without losing recovery option?

Acronis Disk Director 11 or 12, or something as powerful and thorough, can probably do it.  However, it will very likely take a long long long time to move data folders/files into its assigned partition, leaving alone the factory restore partition [!do not assign it a drive-letter! or "over-run its territory], and after all of that -- you making sure the OS partition is primary and active.  !!Make sure you have restorable backups before attempting this!!
