Issues installing Office 2007 (Windows 7)

Q: Issues installing Office 2007 (Windows 7)

I've just purchased a laptop (without a cd-drive) and wanted to install Office.

As a student I have free access to Office 2007 (Microsoft Office Suite 2007 Service Pack 1 32-bit (English) - MSDNAA).

I'm currently using Office Starter 2010.

Now when I download the iso file, using winRAR I am able to extract the files but when I try to install I get the following:

This is then followed by the message: "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system".

I've looked online for a starter version of Office 07 (or something like that) to no avail. I've also attempted to "burn" the iso to a usb stick and install it that way but again with no success.

I'd be grateful for some help as I have no idea of where to go from here.

Preferred Solution: Issues installing Office 2007 (Windows 7)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Welcome to the forum,

What you are trying to install is just the service pack, that's why you are getting that message.

Hey guys, my wife is taking a course that requires her to install Office 2010. The issue is that she wants to preserve her current setup which includes Office 2003 and 2007 existing side-by-side on her Windows 7 (64-bit Home Edition) notebook.
The 2003/2007 setup is not one that she really wants to mess with (i.e., she has no interest whatsoever in uninstalling the two Office suites that she currently has), so ideally she would like to have Office 2010 installed temporarily (for the duration of her course) on the machine without interfering with the current setup.
What is the most painless way of doing this that does not involve shelling out for a second computer?

A:Installing Office 2010 on a machine with Office 2003/2007

Hi, welcome to the forum,
I had a similar situation here but in the end I opted out.

I removed both Office 2003 and 2007 and installed 2010, I then used virtual XP and installed 2003 there, 2007 and 2010 are too similar and the dll's will 'bite' along the way.

Even my 2003 and 2007 gave me issues after some time.

Have you checekd what the Microsoft Support site says?

I have seen similar threads to this one but not quite the same situation I have Vista Ultimate x MS Office Home amp Student The E-Mail client is 'Windows Live Mail' This is set as the default mailer in all relevant places and otherwise works fine MS Outlook is not installed nor has it applications Live Mail' from 'Windows Office sending 2007 Issues even been on this PC If I try to 'send to mail receipient as attachment' from one of the Office applications I obtain an error 'You must logon to Microsoft Exchange to access your address book' Trying again leads to the same error If I then gogo 'send to mail recipient as PDF' or 'send to mail recipient for review' it opens a Issues sending 'Windows Live Mail' from Office 2007 applications 'Windows Live Mail' send mail window and all works fine If I then go back to 'send to mail recipient as attachment' it now works fine Close the Office application try again but with the same result Some of the other threads imply that it is not possible Issues sending 'Windows Live Mail' from Office 2007 applications to use 'Windows Live Mail' to send from Office but the above experience shows that it can work but with unusual errors and sequence of events Any others had similar experience Anyone have 'Windows Live Mail' working from 'send to mail recipient' in Office applications with no issues

A:Issues sending 'Windows Live Mail' from Office 2007 applications

I fixed this after some searching. Turns out that setting Windows Live Mail as the default E-Mail client in 'Set your default programs' is insufficient. Solution is to goto Start-Default Programs-Set program access and computer defaults-Custom, then explicitly select Windows Live Mail as the default mail program in this location. All then works fine.

Hello
I currently have Office 2003 Student full version installed on my computer. I have received Office Professional Plus 2007 Student media version. Do I need to uninstall Version 2003 prior to installing 2007 or will installation of version 2007 automatically uninstall version 2003. Does all the information in my .pst file convert as necessary for use in Outlook 2007. There are two discs, one called "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007" and the other one called "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (Microsoft Office Communicator 2007". I'm guessing that the disk with the shorter title "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007" would be the correct one to install. What is the second disk with Communicator? My system is Windows XP SP2, AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor, 3800+ 1.99 Ghz 2GB Ram.

I purcased MS OFiice 2010 Professional through the MS Home Use Program to replace MS Office 2007.

I received the link and product key via e-mail; I've ordered the CD's but they won't arrive for another 2 weeks.

Several posts indicated that I should uninstall the 2007 version, then install the 2010 version. If I do that, I won't have access to the e-mail for the download.

Should i just install 2010 over 2007, or wait for the CD's?

A:Installing MS Office 2010 to replace Office 2007

Wait for the DVD, or download the ISO then write it to DVD for installation. After installation, activate it with the licence key you purchased.

My boss wants me to install Office 2003 standard edition on a client's pc that has Office 2007 standard edition already installed on it. I don't know, why but this is what he wants. Originally, I had Office 2003 installed in my computer, & a trial version of 2007 that had already expired.
Today I installed a full version of Microsoft Office 2007, without removing any of the other two versions from my computer. I realized that it seemed to automatically remove the older version. I`m not bother about it not being there, as I got the new version, but I wonder if this is an automatic uninstalling that Office does, or if the version is still there but I can`t see it, as I would like to remove it properly if it`s still somewhere in my computer.
I checked in Control Panel & the only thing I can see is "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007", the full version I just installed, & everything that come with it. No 2003 anywhere.
Does this mean 2003 is fully uninstalled?
Thanks a lot!!

A:My office 2003 disappeared after installing office 2007

You can check to see if it is fully uninstalled (I am sure that it is) by going to search and typing the name there. If it is still present, the program will appear.

Worst case scenario, just remanants will remain. Download and use ccleaner. If you run this software, you can be certain that 2003 has gone to software heaven.

If given the option not to use the reg cleaner inculuded in ccleaner take it. I and many others at the forum feel that reg cleaners do more harm than good.

I am wondering how to install Office 2007 over Office XP.
Do I just install Office 2007? Should I uninstall Office XP first? after?

Just trying to avoid problems before I cause them.

A:Installing Office 2007 over Office XP

When you install Office 2007, it will find Office XP and ask if you want to replace it. If you say "no," it will install 2007 in a different directory, keeping both versions of Office with one exception. You cannot have more than one version of Outlook, so regardless of what you choose, Outlook will be replaced.

A friend of mine has just lend me Microsoft Word. His CD is licenced for 3 computers, but he`s not sure whether he`s used the 3 already or not.
I have the Office 07 trial installed in my computer. My question is: Do I need to uninstall Office`s trial version from my computer before I attempt to install my friend`s Office CD? I would prefer not to uninstall it, because if my friend`s 3 computer licence has expired, & I have already uninstalled my trial version, then I`m stuck, & I won`t have even a trial period left on my computer, which is useful to open certain Powerpoint, Word files, even if I can`t create new ones.
Can I go ahead & install my friends Office Cd without unistalling my trial version?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

A:Installing office 2007

I don't know for sure but it might be possible, you will need the product key during the install and I would imagine if it had already been used the 3 times you would not be able to continue with the install.

Don't forget to make a restore point before doing anything, you could also make an image of your system then if it didn't work you could restore the image and be back where you were before starting the install.

Those are my thoughts I don't know if they are any use to you, please let us know what happens if you do decide to go ahead.

Read a few threads about this but can't find a fix. Trying to install Office Home and Student 2007. I enter the Product Key and begin. The Installation Progress box appears but makes no progress. After about 30 seconds, a new box appears with the following:

--------------------
Microsoft Office Home and Student Setup has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
[Close Program]
--------------------

I've tried browsing the CD and right-clicking the setup icon and using the 'Troubleshoot Compatibility' feature to run the program through all Service Pack modes for XP and Vista, but the same problem occurs every time.

How can I get Microsoft to stop fighting with its own program and install?

This is probably a ridiculously stupid question, but...

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop computer for my family last summer (XP OS) and had Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 installed on it. Therefore, I have an unopened disk with the product key on the back.

I'm going to be purchasing a new laptop from Dell this summer for my own personal use (Vista OS) and I need Office 2007 on it. I am not going to pay to have it installed since I have a brand new disk that I purchased last summer.

Since my desktop is XP and my laptop will be Vista, it will still install correctly, right? I assume Office 2007 is compatible with both OS?

Thanks!

A:Installing Office 2007 on my new laptop

Is the product key on the disk the same key that the installation of Office is using? The license follows the key not the physical disk. It doesn't matter if it's unopened.

As to whether or the license can be used on multiple computers, you'd have to consult the specific license agreement for that installation.

A:Problem installing Office 2007 Pro Plus

Hi, and Welcome To The Seven Forums
Not sure why you are having the problem, albeit instead of testing Office 2007, why not jump over to Microsoft.com type in Microsoft Office 2010 beta, and download the Office 2010 beta. Since the one that comes (should) with your new computer is only good for 90 days, or less the 2010 beta is good until October with the Retail version hitting the shelves in July or August.

Again welcome, and good luck.

Setup cannot find office.en-us\1033\dwintl20.dll. Browse to a valid installation source.

I'm trying to install Office 2007 on my computer. I had it installed before but the HDD went bad and Dell replaced it. I'm now trying to install it on the new HDD and encountering this issue.

This was discussed in an earlier post, however there, the user was upgrading '03 to '07 version. I'm trying to install Office 2007 from scratch.
I'm at a loss as to how to get it to install.

Should I call Dell?

I'm really not looking forward to it, based on my previous expreriences.
Thank you.

I have changed mi computer and the new one has windows 7. I uninstalled office off my old computer before disposing of it but had used the license the number of times allowed. how can I install it again on my new computer?

A:Installing microsoft office 2007

As long as the Office copy is a retail version and it was removed from the old machine, just install it on the new machine.
If you have problems with the "Activation", just call Microsoft and explain what you have done and they should provide activation.

Hi there guys.......
may you guys confirm me my doubt?!

I cant finish installing the office sp1, I allready installed the 946691 update and it gives me the same error.
I am starting to think it is ther free space on mu C: drive, that is a bit under 4gb!

What you guys think?

A:Problems Installing Office 2007 SP1!

Hello Th?oPatrizi,

First off, can you please post the error message you get or take a screenshot of it? 4GB shouldn't be a problem for Microsoft Office itself (Only 200-500mb), but that is dangerously low. I recommend you uninstall some unused programs with the Windows Uninstaller.

Go to Control Panel -> Programs, Uninstall a Program.

You should try to keep more than 15gb if possible, this allows for maximum system performance and is considered a "safe" level for your pc to be at.

We will try to help you more when you post the error your getting.

I have Vista installed and two days ago went out and bought Microsoft Office 2007 because I need it for college.

I can't install it.

Error message: component 1935 failed to install....rolling back.

Is this a NetFramework 2.0 error? Or something else?

I can't uninstall or repair any of the Netframework updates either. I'd have to do it manually.

I turned off Firewall, AVG, etc, etc and tried installing 2007 again but with no success...

Hi all,

Is it possible to install Office 2007 in another partition example i have install Windows 7 on C: drive ..is it possible to install office in D: drive?

A:Installing Office 2007 in another partition

Yes it's possible, you'll just have a mess to clean-up when/if you reinstall Windows; create a specific folder for it on the target partition, don't just let it install all over the place, if you know what I mean.

I just got a new laptop with the Office 60 day free trial installed.

I bought a new Microsoft Office Professional 2007 Product Upgrade License from DRI, Microsoft's reseller. This did not come with any media.

When I go to the Activation wizard to enter the new product key, I get the following error:

"The key is incorrect. Verify that you have the correct key and then retype it."

The key is entered correctly.

Do I need actual media to load this upgrade? If so, what do I need?

I even installed Office 2000, then tried to install 2007 using media I had from another installation. I entered the new product key, but got the same error.

Any ideas?

Pretty basic for those that know but I've just bought discs for Office 2007 Ultimate and need some reassurance. Do I need to completely unistall my current OEM (Dell) Office Professional 2003 before I begin and (knowing my luck if it all goes pear-shaped) will I be able to painlessly re-intall the OEM if neccessary (I have discs). Does one then have to download years of updates from the MS site or how does that work? Sort of trying to know the pit-falls before I start as I'm pretty much alone in this. Much appreciate any advice. Cheers.

A:Installing Office 2007 Ultimate

There is a small bit of a problem when going from trial software to commercial versions, but that doesn't sound like your issue.

Going from any Office version to some newer version of Office should not be a problem, at all.

So, short answer, NO,
you should not have any issues in going from one version of Office to a newer version. All of your files will open just fine.

Even if you wanted to go from a trial version to a commercial or now-legal, paid-for version is not hard, as long as you follow the directions.

A COUPLE THINGS you may find different with Office 2007.
First is the new appearance of the controls. There is now the new "command ribbon" where all the old command selections now look different, and some things are moved. I don't like it, but I am slowly learning the new look.
I have read there is a way of shutting off the ribbon, to get back to the "old" way/look, but I haven't bothered. I want to learn what most people are going to suffer with.

Second) and this is the BIGGIE, all the files that you create are now going to be the new MS version of XML formated documents. That means your expected saves of ".DOC" and ".XLS" documents are now the new ".DOCX" and ".XLSX" file extensions.

You can change the default saving formats to be the old Office 97-2003 formats, if you want. Since the new .xxxX (X on the end) formats are unique to MS Office 2007, you might want to consider changing the defaults, if only to minimize the problems if you share your documents with others.

Office 2007 can still open and save either format, and many others as well. But changing the defaults to what we are used to might minimize the problems - for now.

Do you have system restore turned on, you could try restoring to before you installed it (and then reinstall it).

Been trying to find a fix thru the forums for this similar error but havent been lucky yet finding a working fix...

Am running Windows Vista and trying to install MS Office Standard 2007.

At first it installed fine but a few weeks later it started acting up and trying to re-install when trying to run word. So I un-installed Office and try to re-install.. but to my dismay after entering the product key, I started getting an error message when the setup started. "Microsoft Office has encounter an error during setup."

I inspected the disk surface and it still in pristine condition. I also did a chkdsk, defrag, and retried to rerun the install to no success. Tried to copy the install files to the HDD and run it from there but no luck either.

Would highly appreciate any feedback or work around to this problem. Thanks in advanced!

A:Error Installing MS Office Standard 2007

Uninstall. Then run the setup in administrative mode. After installing, start at least one of the programs, such as Word.

Reboot, then run Windows Update. (It may require a reboot.)

You should be good to go.

I recently bought and installed an upgrade of MS Office--I had MS Office 2003 and bought and installed Office 2007. Today, I looked for the Word 2007 icon on my Quick Launch, where it was before (along with the Excel 2007 icon), and they were both gone! Only Office 2003 remains. I used Search and also went to "My Computer" and clicked on "Add or Remove Programs" so it would populate a listing. Neither program was listed...anywhere! What happened?!

Hi All, I just discovered this forum while trying to find info on a footnote problem I have.
In previous incarnations of word I have been able to change the view of my essays to get two separate screnes one above the other, one containing the text and one containing the footnotes, this meant that I could easily edit my often 30 odd pages of footnoes and not have to shuffle constantly between pages.
I can't work out how to do it in 2007, it used to be under VIEW then I would change the view from print, or one of the others into this format.
Any ideas? I'm in the middle of another 30 pager and the footnote editing is sending me batty.

I tried installing my MS Office Home and Student 2007 on my new Windows 8 computer. The installation seemed successful, but I cannot locate MS Word 2007. On the Windows 8 Start screen there are images/icons for Excel 2007, Power Point 2007, One Note 2007, but not for Word 2007. I double clicked on the Excel 2007 image and it opened up the program OK. However, I cannot find Word 2007. I also looked in Windows Explorer and cannot find the Office Home and Student 2007 files. I would be grateful if someone could tell me how to find Word 2007 on my Windows 8 computer. It seemed to have been installed successfully (from the install disk), but I simply cannot find it. A:Problem installing MS Office Home and Student 2007 on 8

Hi there
First check that you DID select word at install time (or simply uninstall and re-install).

Then on Windows start screen simply type Word and you should see it.

You can then click Pin to taskbar to get a quick link. To pin to desktop select open file location and on the file location simply select send to desktop (create short cut).

Cheers

We had office 2000 on our computers and installed Office and Student 2007. Now my Outlook will only spell check in French and it won't give me the option to choose another lanuage. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it.
We did not uninstall 2000 before installing 2007.

There seems to be a conflict between Office 2007 and Outlook 2003

Using Excel 2007 and Office 2003 seems to trigger a scroll down with no stop, in all Office modules + a loss of Junck mail Filter in Outlook 2003.

With Microsoft periodic new updates, all operations resume to normal, but after later uses, the scroll dpwn + Filter loss comes back again.

I am thinking of de-installing Office 2007 or 2003, but need to keep Outlook 2003.
Is there a way to make sure that Oulook 2003 would not interfere with Office 2007 if I remove all of Office 2003 modules but not Outlook 2003 ?

Please advise,
Richard

Did anyone ear of a new near future version of Office Pro (with Outlook)

It could be a compatibility issue. Go to .exe file which opens the Office Commander software right click on it then select properties, then select "Compatibility" try Windows XP SP2 and 3.

It also might be a plugin issue.

Hello Melise, Welcome to the forum.

I have read that quite a few people experience this problem. This answer seems to help

Have a look here to enable the built in Administrator account;

Use this account to install Office and then I recommend that you follow the tutorial to Disable it again, when you are finished.

I have lost access to the file because of the change in file formats, it was in windows old but how do I recover it and then change the file formats? It strikes me this may be a problem in a business or a charity who just didn't have

I had installed Office 2007 at work and found everything to be far to slow to make any of the new bells and whistles worth-while.

So I uninstalled 2007 and installed 2003 today and I've had a number of problems most of which were solved by just going to the microsoft update site and installing 2003 service packs.

My (hopefully) last issue is with email. Outlook is working fine, but if I like on a "mailto:" link either on the web or in an email, I get the following error:

Windows Internet Explorer could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not proberly installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there.

I recently bought Microsoft Office 2007 on eBay. It came in the mail today. When I put the disc into my computer, nothing happens. I cannot hear the disc running. Nothing is prompted on the screen and when I look in "my computer" it does not show anything other than what's normally there. I guess I am asking for help trying to figure out how to download this program onto my computer as I just started college classes and already have assignments due and cannot complete them without it.

Please be gently, as I know to some this may seem basic. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

A:Microsoft Office Professional 2007 download issues.

First of all - welcome to BC !

There are two possibilities here. The first, and less worrying, is your optical drive may have died and gone to a better place. Can you read any other software disc or play a movie DVD ? If you can, your drive is working. If you can't, then it is almost certainly your drive.

The Office disc may be faulty or fake. Try it in a different computer to see if it can be read or offers to install itself. If it can neither be read nor offers to install on a different computer then your only hope of redress is to take it up with first the supplier and then the eBay complaints procedure.

Sorry I can't be more optimistic on your first visit to BC.

So for some reason my Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 quit working on my Windows Vista laptop. So i go into the Control Panel to uninstall it, but it just kept saying that "Uninstallation could not be successfully completed." So I just stuck the disc in the cd tray, to try to just reinstall it, but once I allow it to run, it goes for about 5 seconds, then a message pops up saying "Setup has stopped working." and then it closes.

please help me fix this problem. i need this software for college. and I can't seem to get anything to work.

Hi,
We all use  MS Office communicator 2007 r2 on our small network (approx 30 users). I have no problem at all with outgoing video calls (I video call anyone on that same local network and everything works fast). But when the other users of that same network do video call me, I just see the sign of an up arrow that keeps moving (the usual sign that there is an upcoming call), but the video call window of the incoming call never displays. Eventually, the incoming call is dropped because I can't pick it up. Thanks for your help

A:Solved: uninstalled office 2007 trial and now have 2003 issues

While I cannot guarantee that there isn't malware listed above, the problem of Office installation requests is due to the uninstall process for Office 2007. From personal experience I can tell you that the uninstallation of programs (quite frequently when manufactured by MS) causes a number of problems for prior versions. For me, the resolution was to uninstall all Office products and reinstall Office 2003.

The annoying install requests can be cancelled and the application of choice will continue opening until you uninstall and reinstall. You shouldnt lose anything since the office installations don't really affect "My Documents" or other data folders.

Hello,

When I try to open a 2007 Word or Excel document I recieve as an attachment in Outlook 2003, I get the following message:
"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed". Office 2007 compatibility pack was installed and it still did not work.

I then uninstalled Office 2003, uninstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack and then I ran CCleaner to clean up the registry. I updated my OS (currently has Windows XP SP3) with all updates, reinstalled Office 2003, installed Office 2003 SP 3 and then reinstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack.

I still get the same message when I try to open an Office 2007 attachment in Outlook 2003.

OS is Windows XP SP3 fully updated
Office 2003 SP 3 fully updated

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any hel on this issue.

I'm attempting to install Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, and during installation an error message appears that says something like: error - cannot update file/folder at c:\windows\pchealth, installation cannot proceed.

Then the installer rolls back everything and I get mad. Does anyone have any suggestions? How do I authorize the folder? This has been happening for a while and a solution will make me very happy inside.

Just thought I'd also mention this as it may have some bearing on why this is happening: When I purchased my computer it came with Windows XP Media Center, but a virus plagued my system and my hard drive became corrupted and I had to reinstall windows. Unfortunately, I didn't have the installation disk and ended up installing a non-Media Center edition on a disk from my roommate. I don't know if this would affect anything...but just thought I'd put it out there.

Can anyone tell me how to re-install Microsoft Office? I've just had to do a complete re-install of Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition (as a parallel, repair function was not working on the original version) after a blue screen error nightmare followed by issues with the keyboard and mouse not being recognized. Those issues are now resolved and I was able to keep my data. I see everything in the system has been restored except Microsoft Office 2007. I can see the files but cannot access the actual program. My word and excel files are there but I cannot open them without the program. I do have the Application and Drivers & Utilities CD's (DELL Dimension E520). Any advice would be appreciated.

Why does 2007 Word want to config. Office 2007 when I want to open it? Most annoying because it takes time to config. every time I want to use Word. This problem does not occur on any other app. in Office, only Word.

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 including trial version of Office 2007. I already have Office 2007 on my old XP machine.

Question: Can I load the old version onto the Windows 7 environment? Is there an available patch to do so?

I have tried to install them from the CD and checked run from my computer. However, the shortcuts are still missing.

The shortcuts that I'm referring to are:

Hello all,

I just bought a Toshiba laptop that has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed on it. I have tried several times to install Office 2007 but for whatever reason it gets probably about 70 percent done and then it just hangs.

At first I thought it was because the CPU sitting at 80-90 percent even before installing. I found some .NET services that were using up alot of that CPU so I disabled them and tried installing again but I still hung. I am getting no error messages so right now I am at a loss.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Shawn

Do you by any chance have 'real time' protection installed, which might be preventing the installation/access to registry etc.?
