Windows keeps installing important updates for uninstalled Office 2010

Q: Windows keeps installing important updates for uninstalled Office 2010

I just uninstalled Office 2010 using the uninstaller and the Windows updater keeps installing important updates for it ~300 MB at a time. How do I stop this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Which uninstaller did you use? The one in control panel > programs and features or something else? If programs and features you could try using the official Microsoft Fix it tool.

If still having issues you can try using the free 30 day trial version of Revo > forced uninstall option.

Three months ago, I uninstalled Office 2010 and installed Office 2013.

Yet Windows Update keeps sending me updates to Office 2010. Why?

(I have Windows 7 x64 if that matters.)

The only legacy Office thing I have left on my machine is something called "Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components." I was afraid to uninstall it because I didn't know what it did. What does it do, and can I safely uninstall it?

But Windows Update keeps sending me updates to Microsoft Office 2010, so I'm wondering if that could be the reason?

A:Office 2010 uninstalled but still getting Windows Updates

"Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components" probably accompanied Office 2010 and I think as long as it's on the computer the updates will see it.

I don't have that detection tool either. At least some of the office updates are available through the windows update feature. You can also navigate to the Office updates site from the windows update site. There are no problems with installing the office updates separately. In fact, I generally download only 1 or 2 updates at a time as I am on dial-up.

I'm wondering:

1. Are the updates for MS Office that are critical security things included when you do Windows Update? (For example, there are a number of things listed here towards the bottom: http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=2232 -- would those have been included in the last batch of critical Windows updates?

4. Can doing critical Office updates (separate from whatever, if anything, that comes with Windows Update) cause any problems or conflicts with other things on your computer?

Thanks for the help!Click to expand...

1. No. You either do Windows update and Office update, or you do Microsoft update, which does both at once.

2. I think so, but I am not positive. If you need it, it will install it, or, if you decline, you may not get updates. One way to find out, try it.

3. I don't think it will do the updates without it. Again, try it. It never caused any problems for me having it.

4. I can't guarantee that, nor can anyone else. Sometimes these "hotfixes" cause problems. Wait at least a few days after release to update was my motto. If there were any problems, you may hear about them, giving you the option to wait for that "fix" and, it gives MS time to be notified and correct it. Hopefully.

For what it's worth, I always kept my XP updated, waiting a few days after the release of course.
Hope this helps.

This morning around 3 am windows update instaled various office updates.  The publisher file i was working on will not work, i open it and then it crashes.  So i tried to do a restore to previous to get rid of those updates and see what happens and i get the error that the restone did not complete.  Now if i open a previous file publisher works.  So i am puzzled what has happened? Why i cannot restore and how to fix publisher. I have a SSD i don't know if that means anything with restoring.  Did anyone else have issues with this lastest batch of updates?

A:Office 2010 Publisher crashes after installing various updates

We're seeing the same thing here at work. Publisher 2010 crashes shortly after opening an exisitng file. If I create a new file from a blank, it seems to be stable. System Restore fails also, so we can't go back, at least on the machine this was first noticed on yesterday. The application event logs show ntdll.dll as the crashing program, but there could be another cause. That file was changed in the latest updates from a Sept timestamp to and Oct one. As a real estate company, our office admins use Publisher a lot for flyers, etc., so this has to get fixed very soon.

I have been having this problem for a couple of months now. I currently have 25 Important and 5 Optional Windows Updates downloaded onto my computer, but when I restart/shut-down, the updates fail. It usually ends with the message "Windows update failure; reverting (or reconfiguring) changes" or something like that. Then I can log in and use my computer like normal.

I have been ignoring the issue since everything was working until recently. I have started to notice things are slower (Internet Explorer, Chrome) and updates for Avast and other programs seem to get stopped before they can begin. For example, Avast is now telling me I have no internet connection, even though I am watching youtube videos while I try to update Avast.

Please let me know how to get these updates to install properly. I hope that fixing them will also resolve some of my other issues.

Thanks

i remember with windows xp and office you could go to a different part of the microsoft windows update website in Internet Explorer and it would prompt you with ActiveX to allow updates for Office and after you did that then when 2010 for update updates win7 not thru showing office windows office you went to the normal windows xp update site there would be a whole other section of updates for microsoft office available That was with office anyway i use a dell restore cd for windows professional on a dell pc obviously to install win from scratch I can do windows updates no problem I have microsoft office professional plus with a valid license key these are provided by my IT dept Office installs fine not showing office updates thru windows update for office 2010 win7 during the install i can go through the options and install excel powerpoint all shared tools and so on Once installed it works fine There is no service pack installed at this point From here not showing office updates thru windows update for office 2010 win7 if I go windows update I never see anything for office From within office Microsoft Word file menu help for example it shows office is activated and if i click on check for updates there it then not showing office updates thru windows update for office 2010 win7 opens an IE window which says updates can be done from start menu - programs - windows update If i do that it's a normal windows operating system update and I get nothing for office I have manually downloaded from microsoft Office SP and SP and have installed either one When i go to the help menu it then shows office SP so the service pack seems to have installed no problem But I still never see any updates for office from windows update what's the deal

A:not showing office updates thru windows update for office 2010 win7

You mean what's called Microsoft Update. If you go in to the settings in Windows Update, do you have this checked:

I have Office 2013 Pro Plus, but the click-to-run version which updates itself and is not part of Windows Update. But I don't think there's a click-to-run version for 2010 Pro Plus so that is probably not the issue here.

A:Intel NUC5i3RYH, Windows 7 Update not installing important updates

I regard Windows Update as a last resort for installing drivers, and suggest installing the drivers supplied by Intel for the board:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/83257/Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC5i3RYH

If you have had driver installs fail, it may be necessary to boot into Safe Mode and delete failed installations from Device Manager and install again if you continue to have installs fail.

Hi fred93 The documents you created with Office programs aren't related to it. You can simply uninstall Microsoft Office 2003, and install Office 2010 and you'll be able to use them again. Simple as that.

A:6 important updates as of 03.12.2010

Hi,

I would strongly recommend installing SP2 and IE8 as soon as possible. If you have any problems, we are here to help. If these updates came through before you uninstalled Office, then that is why. If Office is still installed, then you need these updates. Uninstall Office if you are going to, recheck for updates, and install any that are suggested. Any problems, post back.

I ran across an odd entry in Revo (free) for Social Contacts (long-winded name I can't remember), and I didn't want it as part of Office (which includes Visio and Project). Revo found over fifty thousand registry entries, which astounded me and took hours, but I stupidly let it delete the lot and now Office itself has vanished, leaving only three 2010 Tools (Digital Cert, Language, & Upload Center).

Revo has its own restore points, but it may be easier to reinstall if it will take the settings and data it had, although I suppose I would have to update if I did that.

Can anyone suggest a fix (and tell me what went wrong in the first place).

A:Office 2010 apparently uninstalled by Revo

Revo should only be used for stubborn programs that leave files behind. I'd only use Revo to remove all of office, otherwise use the built in uninstaller.

First, make sure office is completely uninstalled. Then try to install it once more and enter the license key. Believe it or not, the built-in uninstaller has come a long way and is in fact much better than it used to be.

Only use Revo to completely remove programs. Partial removal is best done with the built-in uninstaller. Make sure Revo is updated. If you want to use Revo to remove a partial program, try Revo's 'safe mode' uninstall instead of 'advanced'. There is a chance it will remove the wrong items even in safe mode uninstall, but it decreases the risk.

I've used copy and paste from web site antiguaobserver.com for years without bother. Since the 25 April I have noticed the title Observer gets chopped off at the bottom after the new Office updates were installed. I decided to reinstall Office 2010 and copy and paste again; this worked as usual however, when the new updates are installed again the chopping off of the title reoccurs, which leads me to believe Office updates are the problem. I've done a Word repair which did nothing to help and am frustrated and at a loss what to do next. Can anyone solve this problem, any ideas?

A:Windows Updates And Office 2010

It looks to me more likely to be a problem with the website - it appears to be written in compliance with IE versions 6, 7, and 8 rather than more modern ones.
Having said that, it seems to be a Wordpress-based site - so if the version has been updated properly, then it should be compliant with later versions of IE as well. As far as I can tell, it's based on v4.2.1, which is the latest version.

However, Word itself is notoriously bad at interpreting HTML (and even worse at writing it).

What are you attempting to do? can you show screenshots of what you're seeing?

I don't know if maybe I'm the only one who runs into this problem or if it happens to a lot of people, but it seems to come up a lot for me.

I have had this issue on many computers but right now I am setting up an old Dell Latitude E5510 for an employee and I have reformatted, installed all drivers, and programs needed. I installed Office 2007, because this employee won't really be using the computer much.

I start up Windows Updates today and it has me downloading 3 updates for Windows 2010. This computer had Office 2010 on it before it was reformatted. Is it still sensing Office 2010 buried somewhere in the files and that's why it's asking me to install updates for it? Does Office 2007 use updates that are also made for 2010(and are only labled 2010)? Anyone have any ideas? I don't believe it's hurting anything, but I am curious!

Thanks

Good morning,
After updates were automatically installed, my computer restarted, and my usual Outlook icon was replaced by a different icon. When I tried to open it, it prompted me to insert the MS Office 2000 Small Business disc and opened email set up wizard. So basically it's as if Outlook is starting over, which means all my emails and contacts are gone.

I would like to know why Outlook was uninstalled, and if it's possible to retrieve my emails and contacts. I'll deal with re-configuring my new Outlook later since that's a whole different set of questions.

Thanks very much for your help! By the way I have Windows XP.

A:After installing updates, Outlook is uninstalled

Just insert the disk as it may just need to reinstall something because Outlook got whacked by some update. Was this an Ms Office Update or what? It is unlikely the storage is lost, there is just most likely nothing pointing to it to open it yet.

I recently bought and installed an upgrade of MS Office--I had MS Office 2003 and bought and installed Office 2007. Today, I looked for the Word 2007 icon on my Quick Launch, where it was before (along with the Excel 2007 icon), and they were both gone! Only Office 2003 remains. I used Search and also went to "My Computer" and clicked on "Add or Remove Programs" so it would populate a listing. Neither program was listed...anywhere! What happened?!

Hi.

First post here. I've been volunteering at our local library, providing some tech support. I finally got all their computers upgraded to Window 10 just before the end of July( and the free upgrade period ). I hadn't noticed at the time that some of the computers didn't have Office 2010 installed on them, and some of the patrons have been asking for it.

The library does have a volume license for Office 2010 Professional Plus. I got on the MS site, and downloaded the .iso file for that, and the product key, and am trying to install it. I'm getting an error that says

This product requires Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 or above

Everything I've found on the web indicates Office 2010 is certified to run on Windows 10.

Not really sure what I need to do.

Any help is appreciated!

Marc

A:Error installing Office 2010 on Win 10, requires Windows 2008 SP2

This problem appears to pre-date Windows 10. The last 'do it myself' solution offered here would seem to be the one you want..

Method 2: Turn off compatibility modeTo resolve this issue, you must disable compatibility mode before you try to install Office 2010.

Am not sure what to do with these updates:

Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553181) 32-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553310) 32-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553455) 32-Bit Edition

Windows Updates says they are important.

I do not have Office 2010 installed. Office 2007 is installed.

My security software keeps telling me I am at risk because my operating system is not up to date.

Any thoughts on what I should do?

A:Receiving updates for Office 2010 but Office 2007 is installed.

If your computer is relatively new, it may have come with a trial install of Office 2010 - check the Start menu, and the Programs & Features listing.
You may also have installed Viewers for things like PowerPoint 2010, which still require updates.

Hi everyone,

When I first got my computer (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1), it had a preinstalled trial version of Microsoft Office 2007. I removed it via the control panel (Programs and Features) and installed Office 2010. However, I still get Office 2007 updates via Windows Update. They even installed successfully.
There are no Office 2007 components listed under Programs and Features.

Why am I getting Office 2007 updates although I've got only Office 2010?...

I am getting an encryption error after installing Office 2010 Home and Student on a windows 7 64 bit OS. I can't use hardly anything after installing because the same error pops up for everything(itune, ie, norton internet security, cyberlink power dvd, and all of the office functions). Instead of opening what I want to open, i get a word document window without the word document with a window in front of it saying that the incription type can't be read. Then gives me incryption options. When I uninstall Offices 2010 home and student everything goes back to normal except I do not now have any of the programs of office on my computer (that last part makes sense but the rest is confusing to me). PLEASE HELP- I need advice on what to do

A:After successfully installing 9 important updates, have lost Internet

I think your best route of action at this point is to do a system restore back to before it installed the updates; as those updates may not necessairly be suitable for your system. Just because microsoft puts out updates via windows update; doesnt always mean they are compatible with your system. I would do a system restore to before you updated all 9 items; and if you can; upload or post what those 9 items are and we can go from there.

Hey guys, my wife is taking a course that requires her to install Office 2010. The issue is that she wants to preserve her current setup which includes Office 2003 and 2007 existing side-by-side on her Windows 7 (64-bit Home Edition) notebook.
The 2003/2007 setup is not one that she really wants to mess with (i.e., she has no interest whatsoever in uninstalling the two Office suites that she currently has), so ideally she would like to have Office 2010 installed temporarily (for the duration of her course) on the machine without interfering with the current setup.
What is the most painless way of doing this that does not involve shelling out for a second computer?

A:Installing Office 2010 on a machine with Office 2003/2007

Hi, welcome to the forum,
I had a similar situation here but in the end I opted out.

I removed both Office 2003 and 2007 and installed 2010, I then used virtual XP and installed 2003 there, 2007 and 2010 are too similar and the dll's will 'bite' along the way.

Even my 2003 and 2007 gave me issues after some time.

Have you checekd what the Microsoft Support site says?

Hello,

I have uninstalled office 2010 few days ago and did a clean installation of office 2013.
But windows update is showing updates for both office 2010 and office 2013.

I have uninstalled office 2010 using Revo uninstaller so there are no traces
Am I missing something.

A:Office 2010 and Office 2013 both updates available

Hi there
Why on earth do people insist on using these 3rd party uninstaller apps for BOG STANDARD Microsoft applications --Ms OFFICE is one of the most used pieces of software on earth so installing / uninstalling it should be a breeze via STANDARD uninstall method.

Had you simply uninstalled via control panel then the entire problem would not exist.

Your 3rd party uninstaller obviously hasn't done its job properly as there is still some indication on your machine that Microsoft Update thinks you still have Office 2010 installed.

IMO 3rd party apps are better left for NON OS type applications - things like installing / uninstalling / updating software should be left to the OS itself. Very few 3rd party apps IMO should be allowed to interfere with the internal functions of the OS itself -- even AV software - but that's another issue.

My solution here would be to either restore your syste to a time before you installed the "Uninstaller" app or re-install a clean copy of windows, re-install the version of office you want and apply the updates.

Note -- when Ms updates programs it might make all sorts of registry changes "on the fly" and it's impossible for a 3rd party uninstaller to be able to handle or even find all these changes.

Cheers
jimbo

I purcased MS OFiice 2010 Professional through the MS Home Use Program to replace MS Office 2007.

I received the link and product key via e-mail; I've ordered the CD's but they won't arrive for another 2 weeks.

Several posts indicated that I should uninstall the 2007 version, then install the 2010 version. If I do that, I won't have access to the e-mail for the download.

Should i just install 2010 over 2007, or wait for the CD's?

A:Installing MS Office 2010 to replace Office 2007

Wait for the DVD, or download the ISO then write it to DVD for installation. After installation, activate it with the licence key you purchased.

A:Office 2010 Updates?

Hi Pat,

To judge from the details of Microsoft's security May bulletin, there were updates for MS Office 2007 and below, but none for Office 2010 (at the link below, choose "Affected Software and Download Locations", then "Microsoft Office Suites and Software"):
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms11-may.mspx

In addition, MS Office 2010 is indicated as non-affected by a vulnerability which affects previous versions of MS Office:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS11-036.mspx

If you want to check whether you missed any updates, you can either run Windows Update (make sure that you have the option to receive updates for other Microsoft products activated), or you can try out this suggestion over here and update MS Office 2010 from within the program itself:
Keep your computer updated by using Microsoft Update - InfoPath - Office.com

I was trying to install updates on my wife's computer for office 2010, when I received a message that updates failed. On going back to previous updates, I realized, that none of the updates had installed. I immediately checked to make sure the office setup exe file was enabled, and it was. Windows updates install just not office updates. (Amd 64 dual-core 6 gb ram 2 itb hdd. windows vista home premium 64-bit). What can I do to get these updates to install? Event viewer gives this output: Product: Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 -- Error 1606. Could not access network location %APPDATA%\.I also got a error code:80070643. What do I need to do to get the updates to install?

Hi everybody
If you've ever re-installed W7 recently (or office 2010) there's a myriad of updates that can take a long time (I think around 1 GB of downloads if you include Office).

Is it possible like we did with XP to "Slipstream" the Service packs and updates into W7 and an Office install media.

Would be useful - but haven't seen any mention of this.

Office 2010 sp1 is a separate download and W7 retail doesn't always have SP1 included.

Any ideas folks.

Cheers

Permission issue. Are you logged in as newly created Admin or inbuilt admin account?

Right click C drive, check the permission, whether your user profile has full access. I faced the same issue, but not the direct error mesage, and changed the C drive owner has my user account and install went fine.

hi

after latest updates are pushed on systems office 2010 is gone . it is affecting office 2010.
the windows in question is windows 7 enterprise and office is pro plus.

we are in a domain environment . updates are pushed through wsus server.

the symptoms are that when launching outlook we get some mapi32 dll not found error.
also in start menu word.excel are not visible.. infact non of office applications are visible under office menu in start menu.

looking in the instalation directory (program files x86 etc) in office folder we do not have winword or excel exe files there as well.

repairing existing office 2010 installation doesnt works

the only solution is to remove office 2010 and install office 2013.

Please help in finding the cause/solution of this issue.

Hi,

in 2003 there was a question, that question was 'Update this instance of your meeting update only?' Simply, and worked. In 2010, it's gone. How do I update the text of my meeting without my delegates all getting the update.

Why, because it's helpfull to add notes, becuase it used to be there, becuase 2010 makes things better - not!

Sorry if this has been covered, search came up blank.

Andy

A:Office 2010 Meeting updates can't save just my instance only

Hello Andy -

I don't have the exact answer you would like BUT there may be a work-around.

Open your time slot appointment that was sent to others.
Click on the Appointment tab.
Click on Copy to My Calendar. This adds a second instance of the appointment; open it and edit as desired.
Click the Private (lock) icon.
Click Save & Close.

This should work but PLEASE TRY IT / TEST IT with a couple associates to make sure they don't receive your "copy" appointment.

Also, disregard the time conflict warning.

I got a new computer in 2010 and, as I thought, got rid of all the pre-installed stuff. I then purchased and installed the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 suite.
After doing that I discovered that Microsoft Office 2007 had been pre-installed (I presume a trial version) and it seemed that there was no way I could uninstall it. I don't know if the install of the 2010 Office Suite affected it in some way.
Anyway now I am getting Windows updates for both Office Suites. Do I need to install both or can I just hide the updates for the 2007 Suite and ignore them.
Thanks for any help or advice regarding this matter

If you're still unable to remove 2007 I'd suggest you not ignore any updates. Many of them are security related. As long as it's on your machine I think it would be wise to keep 2007 from being accessed by malware.

You don't. Just upgrade to sp3, install it, and you'll be fine.

A:Microsoft Office 2010 not installing.

MS Office can be a bear.

If you have a failed install you probably have files and reg entries in your system which might prevent you from getting a good install.

I am not familiar with home and student but some flavors of Office have a repair option. You can go to programs and features in the control panel and right click on Office and see if it offers a repair. It may require inserting the install disk in the rom deck.

Another option is to insert the install disk and you may find a repair option.

Any way I found some good info from MS if you have to do an uninstall and cleanup before reinstalling.

Even Microsoft discourages the use of Office 2010 x64 unless you are a developer. If you aren't, don't both, as the x64 version brings you only minor issues over the completely stable x86 version. Save yourself some time and grief.

Hello folks

I am trying to install Microsoft Office 2010 but getting an error everytime ""Error 1935 - HRESULT: 0x8007054F" I have deleted my previous office version to install this and now I am stuck with nothing. Oh one other information that might be helpful, couple of days back the vista restart loop bug hit me. After a regular windows update my system kept on restarting until I used a recovery disk to delete a particular file through command prompt. Since then I cannot update my windows (it just gets stuck on "searching for updates") and the "turn windows feature on/off" box is always blank. Also, sfc \scannow function does not work. I have Word, PowerPoint and Excel installed (the rest has been deselected and is marked as not available). I get my updates via Windows Update (WU), however, not just for the modules I use but also for all the other components of the Office 2010 Package. Including the ones I haven't installed and/or paid for.

Someone in the know (?) told me to install all WU updates regardless, however, I'm starting to question this idea, as they pile up over time!

Question: what's the proper policy to follow: a) install everything; or, b) install just the updates relevant to the modules I have installed and use?

If b), 2nd question: should I uninstall the non-relevant updates or am I asking for trouble doing so?

Thanks.

A:Office Home and Student 2010: how to deal with unwanted WU updates

Hi:

There are many "schools of thought" on this.

Generally speaking, Windows Update for Win7 is pretty reliable about knowing which updates ("patches") are needed for Windows and MS applications, such as MS Office.
Moreover, the many applications within MS Office often share files.
Other times, installing a given patch requires another, earlier patch as a prerequisite.

So, especially for security updates and other "important" patches, I would tend to let Windows Update decide what needs to be installed, even for Office modules you do not actively use.
(For "optional" and "recommended" updates, one might take a more conservative approach, evaluating each patch individually, to determine if it's really needed or helpful.)

Unless you are running short on disk space, there's likely no harm in doing so, while hiding/refusing certain updates could lead to stability or security issues.

If you *are* running short on disk space, then there are many strategies for freeing up space, including an optional "update cleanup" "patch" for Win7 that was released a year or so ago.

Cheers,
MM

Why do I get updates (via Microsoft Update) to Outlook and Visio when these two programs are not part of Office 2010 Home & Student?

If Outlook/Visio are on my HD as trial versions, any way to remove them permanently? I don't intend to use either one...

Thanks.

A:Office 2010 Home & Student - Outlook and Visio Updates

It's my experience that Microsoft includes all updates for the Office applications, simpler than trying to figure out what users actually have installed. It's complicated by the ability to Custom install only those parts the user wants regardless of what the suite includes.

I've only seen Visio as a separate install, mine is a separate downloaded file. Outlook is part of one of the more complete versions of Office [by more complete I mean more expensive].

I recently bought a copy of office 2010, and installed it on my laptop fine. however the CD drive on my other PC isn't working. The company I bought the software from told me to copy the CD onto a memory stick and run setup.exe from that. I have tried this but it is not working – the Set Up starts, runs, and then it gives error “Setup cannot find InfoPath.en-us\InfLR.cab” – and asks to browse to the location.
It is already looking in x86 directory on the stick (correct location), and I can see that the files are all there on the memory stick.
If I reselect the correct directory on memory stick, it gives error “invalid location”
Any ideas? the company i bought the software from wont provide any further assistance.

Help! I am trying to install MS Office 2010 Home & Student 64 bit on my 64 bit Windows machine. I previously had Office 2003 installed. I un-installed 2003 and tried to install 2010. I believe the installation CD contains both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Initially I inserted the CD and let autorun direct me into the installation. The installation kept stalling half-way through. Then it occurred to me that it might be trying to install the 32-bit version. I uninstalled the previous attempt (actually did a System Restore) and manually started the installation using the SETUP file in the 64 bit folder. No dice. It still hangs. I ran Revo Pro Uninstaller to make sure I wasn't leaving remnants of the old installation behind that were causing the installation to hang, but it didn't make any difference. Help!

However as it was downloading this message came up: A file required to set up Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 is corrupted. Try running setup again. If the problem continues, contact your computer manufacturer for support. I got this message before and after I uninstalled the previous version. What can I do?

Hello,
I have a Samsung netbook with Windows 7 starter edition, 250GB HD and 1MB of RAM.
I purchased it with a trial version of Office Home and Student which has expired.
I am a public sector employee which entitles me to a discount on Microsoft Office Professional 2010 which I have downloaded and installed after unistalling Home and Student 2007 using the Programs and Features in Control Panel.
Now, when I open Excel 2010, if I make a new file and save it, it works fine. But when I try to open an Excel file from Office 2007 or 2003, it will open but if I try to change the file or save it as an Office 2010 file, excel stops working and shuts down.
Windows has no solutions to this problem.
I have checked for updates, but all that windows update offers are updates for the 2007 version of Office.
Can anyone tell me if there is a solution for this?
THanks

A:Problems after installing Office Professional 2010

I do not think that there is a solution. You will be able to use and read 2007 files, but not able to give them the increased features of 2010

Well.. this is wonderful..

I just purchased the 10 dollar version of Office 2013 pro for home use through the company I work for. Prior to installing, I figured, I should probably first uninstall 2010 just so everything is a nice clean slate. After uninstalling 2010 though, I got prompted to reboot, and now my machine will not boot to desktop. I get to log in screen, click on log in, type my passwd, and then it crashes.. A screen pops up, gather some data to give to microsoft, and then reboots..

It does mention Driver_corrupted_expool.

Any help appreciated!!

Can you boot into Safe Mode? (F8)

If so, follow this: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions and report back.

Hi,
Why do we get the option "Windows Updates. Important updates are available. Go to PC settings to install them" on the logon screen? Need to remove this option but without altering the update functionality. We are using SCCM for windows update.
Can you help how to remove it by GPO or any other option for large scale systems (5000+). At present the user cannot install the updates as it has been restricted. Attached the screen shot also.

A:Uninstalled a potentially important program

I think you've uninstalled the Qualcomm software which is for internet connection. Windows updates requires internet connection to download the updates, that's why the updates failed.

I bought a new computer with a trial version of office 2010 installed but not activated. I all ready have 2007 and I installed it. Will I have a problem if I uninstall the trial version (2010)?

Thanks

A:Can I uninstall office trial 2010 after installing 2007?

I would remove one of the versions before installing the other, but it sounds like you already installed both. You may or may not have problems, but if you do you can always reinstall the activated one (2007) with your CD and activate it again.

Let me know if you have problems reinstalling or uninstalling the office software

I am trying to set up a MDT Deployment that will install Win 7 and MS Office 2010. With the Win 7 install I am able to have the system ask for the Windows Key after the install has completed. I would like to do the same for MS Office. I am going to be using this deployment tool for every new computer we get going forward and don't want to have to update my deployment every time I run one. I simply would like to deploy the image and then enter the Product key and activate it. Is this possible?

I keep getting this "The language of this installation package is not supported by your system".

What does this mean and how do I fix it please anyone??

A:Wrong Language when installing Office 2010 Professional Pro

That might have something to do with regional settings in Control panel.
What language version that Office has?

Have you tried this solution?

I freed up space and tried again, still getting the same error, so it's not a lack of HDD space issue.

A:Continuous error installing MS Office 2010 SP 2 update

Hi there
try a TOTAL uninstall of MS Office 2010 - reboot and then try again. Install MS office, then apply windows updates - you might need to apply two or three sets before SP2 appears in the update list.

(I assume your W7 install is at SP1 level -- that a pre-req for Office 2010 sp2).

UNINSTALL via control panel -- not via the OFFICE DVD.

Cheers
jimbo

I deleted some rarely used programs and defragged. My computer now runs very slow. I downloaded a few anti-virus programs (MalwareBytes, Spyware Terminator, and of course Spybot S&D) and they didn't catch anything. Now I have massive lag. I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 Laptop with 528 RAM, Windows XP, and I'm essentially a noob when it comes to this. I want to thank you guys for your help ahead of time.

A:Uninstalled programs now I have MASSIVE lag! Did I delete something important???

Welcome to TSG... Please clarify what you actually did.

Uninstalling a program implies you used the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. "Deleting" has another meaning entirely.

So the other day I was trying to uninstall some fluff programs from my computer (after apparently downloading some pretty violent malware) and I accidentally uninstalled a program that I guess helped web images load up properly. Since then I've been getting everything from broken image links, to adds and forum posts with jumbled images and even this weird static cut-off thing. Help me find/replace the program please? Sure, it's bearable but it's ugly and driving me nuts.

I use Google Chrome for a web browser. Here are some screenshots for the problem I've been having:

My computer runs Win x so naturally I decided to install Office bit While I have had no problems installing ready time not x64 (Ques: - Office 2010 for prime 32 with the program itself thus far MS released it too early as there are very few programs which play nice with it This is particularly true for Outlook which really does need to interact with other programs Specific problems include MS MapPoint Office 2010 x64 - not ready for prime time (Ques: installing 32 yes - Office 2010 x64 - not ready for prime time (Ques: installing 32 The Map It feature cannot be hooked to MapPoint Cardscan - you cannot transfer data with the bit version QuickBooks - built-in emailing functionality does not work Linked In social connector HTC Sync program for syncing HTC Android phones - need a goofy work-around Peak allows one to see email content without opening - great plug-in Outlook attachment sniffer So basically everything I want to do with Outlook beyond simply reading mail cannot be done So it is time to remove the bit version not sure what benefits if any I'll be losing and install the bit version My question is this Will a simple uninstall followed by a reinstall work or is there likely to be left-over files and or registry keys which will cause problems Thanks p s I assume that it would not be advisable to simply unistall reinstall just Outlook

A:Office 2010 x64 - not ready for prime time (Ques: installing 32

The issue is not Office 64 per se, its a great office suite!
The issue is that 64 bit programs have not come along yet to be compatable.
Case in point, ie8 is in 64 bit, however there are some plugins that are still 32 bit that won't run on a 64 bit browser.
