Preferred Solution: Downgrade windows live or remove skydrive

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My school reimaged their computers so I had to reinstall Skydrive.

Problem is, I now have two entries for the school computer, with the second one being (computer name)-1.

How do I remove the old device, and change the name of the current device?

Thanks.

A:Edit/remove devices from skydrive.live.com?

I managed to remove the old copies of the computers, but they still have -1 at the end of the name. How do I fix that?

I hope they add the personalization capabilities that Mesh had (Name and device icon), found at devices.live.com

And while I'm at it, how do I rename Trusted PCs on my Microsoft account?

Maybe something like this will help, it used to be called skydrive explorer,

it put's access to your skydrive right in windows explorer, not exactly

what you asked for, just thought I'd mention it.

After using Windows Live & Skydrive since its inception I now find that whenever I attempt to log in to Skydrive the address bar immediately shows "about:blanc" and sends me back to the log-in screen.
I have deleted the whole of Windows Live and downloaded a new copy.
Nothing changed.
Unfortuneately I have only one PC from which to try this.
Windows Live Messenger, Writer, Family Safety & Mail all work OK.
Also I have been using SkyDrive Synced Storage on Windows Live Mesh but now can no longer access the Windows Live Devices which contain my data.
The Syncing operates OK but when I try to access the Live Devices I get the same "about:blanc".
I now use IE9 but cannot be sure if the IE9 download coincided with the commencement of this problem.
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 on a HP Pavillion s3380a.

Hi, whenever I download my saved files that I uploaded from Windows Live Skydrive, it always downloads them in a modified format. If I download a .docx file, I get a .docx_ file. If I download a .zip file, I get a .zip_ file.

I know how to fix this. I have to rename the file and remove the _ (underscore) from the file format. It should work after that but this is a bit inconvenient especially for inexperienced users as the weird new format would have no matching application that can open them unless you rename the file and remove the _ (undercore).

And it also results to this invalid file formats that you have to remove with CCleaner.

Did someone notice this before???? Or are they now working to resolve this???

A:Issues with Windows Live Skydrive???

I've just checked this with my own SkyDrive, and files download normally, whether I download a single file, or use the "Download as ZIP" option. Filename and extensions remain the same when the download is complete.

Question: Does this happen only when you download from SkyDrive, or from other sites also?

I hope you can help me with this. Windows Live states that a file of 50MB or less can be uploaded to their Skydrive foldrs/albums. However, if your photos are much over 800kb, they won't display as thumnails, only icons. There are the prolems associated with rapidly displaying large files, but stopping at 800kb +/-?

Also, clicking on a JPG to enlarge it will display the enlarged image. Clicking on a TIF file will immediately display a "Do you want to download this file?" dialog.

A:Skydrive / Windows Live Mesh queries

*Will you be able to upload folders to Skydrive? I want to create a PHOTOS folder in Skydrive, then upload my 160 individual photo folders to it. Possible?

yes

*What is Windows Live Mesh?

live mesh is a way of keeping files in sync between two computers (or more). for example, let's say you had a laptop and a desktop - every file you save on the laptop to mesh, automagically appears on your desktop too. there's also a feature that lets you connect to your meshed pc from anywhere on the internet, allowing you to access files, run programs etc.

*I'd like to make it so any photos or docs I add to my hard drive, automastically go to Skydrive.

i believe you can set it up like that by changing your default save locations to skydrive folders. although i would prefer to keep a local copy too.

What is: SkyDrive Wave 5 M3 (version 16.3)?

this is a new version of skydrive coming out soon, with a few more features.

Now, I understand that once you install the Skydrive PC program, you get a folder on the desktop. Whatever is in that desktop folder, however the contents are organized--that's what gets synched up to the SkyDrive Interwebs.

Which means that my entire photo collection, all 13GB of it, needs to be copied into the desktop SkyDrive folder...right?

Now, I also have a Windows Live Photo Gallery on here- never used. But I see on there, that there is a thing that says 'publish to SkyDrive.' Does that mean if I hit the button, they are automatically copied there? So I don't have to dupe my collection?

I pushed the 'Publish to SkyDrive' button, and it appears grayed out. WhatamIdoingwrong?

A:Skydrive publishing from Windows Live Gallery

Your question is about Live Photo Gallery, not Win7. If you have installed the SkyDrive software OK you will have a new SkyDrive folder in Explorer or whatever file manager you use. So you can just copy/past whatever you want just like you would to a "real" folder on your hard drive.

I'm guessing the Live Photo Gallery doesn't use the same file access code as Explorer - but I don't have that software so can't be sure.

I've been using Win7 64 bit with Windows Live Mail for years. I've sent many emails with photos using the SkyDrive Photo Album feature. On about 6/25/15, WLM started crashing whenever I tried to use SkyDrive. It just disappears, no error message. When I bring it back up, the email with photos is visible in the Outbox, but in a few seconds WLM vanishes again. If I can delete the email in the outbox in the few seconds before it crashes, WLM stays up fine.

I can send the photos as attachments, but of course I have to resize large photos before attaching, quite an inconvenience.

As I said, there are no error messages.

I am logged into WLM.

I scan with multiple anti-malware programs every day. Always clean.

I have also saved a folder which I have title 21 November 2008 but there are no photo's in the folder and would like to delete or remove it, but again when I right click on this folder it does not give me the option to delete.

Hi Teggo,

When you're in the Skydrive you should be able to click on the file (in this case a photo) and it will bring you to a screen where the file is displayed. In the top menu, click the download button and it will download the file (photo). From there, you can do whatever you want with it.

Here is the info direct from the help section:

Sign in to the Windows Live SkyDrive website with your Windows Live ID (The e-mail address and password that you use to sign in to Windows Live programs and services such as Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger; Microsoft services such as Xbox LIVE, MSN, and Office Live; and other places where you see the Windows Live ID logo.) , and then click All folders. To download one of your own photos or files, click the folder that contains the photo or file.
?or?
To download a photo or file added by another SkyDrive user, open the user's profile, click SkyDrive, and then click the folder that contains the photo or file. For more information, see Search for people's profiles on Windows Live.Click the photo or file.Click Download, and then click Save.Navigate to the location on your computer where you want to download the photo or file, and then click Save.

Let me know if this fixes your question.

Ron

Is this for the SkyDrive app (8.1), SkyDrive desktop app (8), or online at SkyDrive.com?

I've noticed that Skydrive live tile does not work after upgrading to 8.1. Anyone else notice this?

Prior to 8.1, Skydrive was live, that is it would display the contents of your folder, especially photos. Now, after 8.1, it doesn't work.

So is anyone else's skydrive live tile not working under 8.1?

Thanks

A:Skydrive live tile not working under 8.1?

Hello Drew,

In Windows 8.1, SkyDrive is fully integrated now.

You should have a separate SkyDrive app tile on your Start screen for the online SkyDrive, and a SkyDrive folder group in the navigation pane of File Explorer. This folder is located at: "C:\Users\(user-name)\SkyDrive".

Hi,

This probably isn't an error, but a problem all the same. I've synced my documents to SkyDrive using Windows Live Mesh without a problem. However, to access these files with a web browser I have to go to 'devices', not the more prominent 'SkyDrive' tab in Hotmail. Why is this? Why are there two different SkyDrives and is there any way to get them in the same place?

Thanks,
Tom

A:Why do folders synced with SkyDrive on Live Mesh not appear online?

SkyDrive and Live Mesh are two different things. SkyDrive is for storing and sharing photos and documents. Live Mesh is an online backup solution and is private to you. They are quite separate.

I am using a simple SkyDrive set-up - I'm replicating all of C:\Users\Adam\SkyDrive

I'm also using another service called tresorit (https://tresorit.com/) to backup one of the directories inside my SkyDrive folder (C:\Users\Adam\SkyDrive\Work)

Tresorit creates a temp folder in the SkyDrive directory C:\Users\Adam\SkyDrive\Work\.tresorit which causes SkyDrive to stop all replication until it is released.

Can I exclude this folder from SkyDrive? I'm not talking about on-line off-line I just don't want Skydrive to look at a specific file. I don't really want two local copies of my data which was one thing I though about doing...

Any ideas?

In October, I downloaded Windows Live Toolbar, into my PC. After that, for months, something changed when I would open IE...It seemed, as if, took forever, to open. I thought it for many reasons, then a few days ago, I read an article, about how Windows Live Toolbar is "buggy"...Whatever that means, and if one has it downloaded to their PC, they should remove it...So, I did. And ever since, IE opens up, just that! (snaps fingers) Something is seriously wrong with that Windows Live Toolbar. So, if one has it, and one is having trouble opening IE, do yourself a favor...Go to Add/Remove programs and get rid of it...Immediately!

I upgraded to Windows 10 and didn't like it and came back to Windows 7. Not sure what happened, but my Windows Live Mail loaded up hundreds of messages I had deleted previously. In trying to delete them I encountered "an unexpected error has occurred". Anyway that is the background.

I removed Windows Live Mail then reinstalled. Same story when I started up the new version. So I'm guessing there are some other files that are holding all this information I also need to remove so that Windows Live Mail starts out completely clean. Anyone know what they are? I did delete the folder Window Live Mail under AppData, but that wasn't enough.

Thanks for any advice.

I run Windows 8.1 and have installed Windows Live Essentials but the install seemed corrupted as I couldn't open the program. The error said that wldlog.dll, wldcore.dll, uxctl.dll were missing. I installed them back using Dll-Files Fixer but the program still didin't work.

I then tried to uninstall Windows Live Essentials with Revo Uninstaller but it said some files are missing. I tried forced uninstall but it failed too, it said some files are missing but didn't say which ones.

If I try opening Windows Live Mail it gives an error, it cannot find an entry point to msmail.dll

I want to completely remove Windows Live Essentials so that I can try a clean re installation but I cannot manage, I think some files are either missing or corrupted and whatever I try fails.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Isabella

A:Remove corrupted install of Windows Live Essentials from Windows 8.1

Hi,

You could simply do a system restore to a point prior to installing Windows Live Essentials. Then try a complete fresh download and installation...

I just got finished recovering my email into WIndows Live Update after a hard disk crash. Somehow I now have two accounts that are duplicated. The accounts are listed as Mindspring (uid) (1) and Mindspring (uid). Each account has the 5 basic folders in it: Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, Junk email, and Deleted Items. I want to delete the redundant account so I don't have to be careful about which account I am using to send, etc. Every email I receive goes into both inboxes.

A:How can I remove redundant account in Windows Live Mail for Windows 7?

I found the answer. There is a menu item to disable an account. Sorry for the time waster...

A:How to completely remove a Windows Live account from a computer?

If I was you, I would... Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts. Make a new account for the friend you are giving the computer to, Log out, and log in under the new account. Go back to User accounts and delete "your" current one. It should ask you if you want to save any files or folders from your current account before deleting, say no to it.

A:How do I remove unwanted 'live' email program from windows 7

Hi john landale Windows Live Mail is a component of Windows Live Essentials. In order to remove it, go in your Control Panel, under Uninstall a program and uninstall Windows Live Essentials. From there, it'll list you the components that are installed. Check Windows Live Mail and pursue with the uninstall, then it'll be gone.

This is for anyone who wishes to uninstall the Windows Live Mail app faulty update which was supposed to make the app compatible with the new hotmail/outlook settings but crashed the app (in my case I could no longer use the calendar).

Info posted from here: https://messengergeek.wordpress.com/...tch-kb3093594/
If you want to go ahead and try to install the patch or if you already did, you can revert/uninstall the patch by pressing -R (Windows Key and R) on the keyboard, then copy/paste the following:msiexec /package {B775C26B-EAA8-4A11-ACBF-76E52DF6B805} /uninstall {342DCD5D-5946-453B-97AC-D53B7662EDF5}

Then press enter or click OK. When prompted, choose Repair. You should then be back to version 16.4.3528.0331.

I have my Cloudmark and W-7 anti-spam finely tuned, know my correspondents, and so it's unlikely that a graphics file on an incoming email page will do damage. But here we are again wth MS playing Uncle on my W-7 Pro by hiding all the graphics images unless I take the time to say it's OK to show them.

I'm new to W-7 admittedly (tho I go back to DOS 2.0), so is there any way to turn off this annoying feature? I've turned most of the MS "self-security" to their minimum levels in an attept to find it and I can't. Anyone familiar with this poser?

How do I remove imap.gmail.com from my Windows Live Mail 2011 account? I had configured my windows email with gmail, and I no longer want to do that. I have a Windows Desktop which I recently updated Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.

This past weekend I purchased the new Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro with Windows 8.1 preinstalled.

In going through and setting up the Yoga 2, I noticed that there is no listing in "Programs and Features" for Microsoft SkyDrive, although there is such a listing in "Program and Features" on my Windows Desktop. Given the tight integration between Windows 8.1 and Skydrive (I'm using the same Microsoft Account on both systems), can / should I uninstall the Microsoft SkyDrive Application. Don't want to leave an application on either of the systems that has no useful purpose.

Thanks.

You can change the basic location settings on word 2010.

Go to the upper file tab and open options below. Then open the tab "save" and choose a path for basic location for saving.

I dont know if you can do the same thing for adobe.

Hey all,

After installing the latest updates to Windows 8.1 (12/10/13), my "Documents" and "Pictures" folder were renamed to "My Documents" and "My Pictures" like old times.

I would love to change them back because now it looks weird having Videos, Music, My Documents, My Pictures, etc.

Also, as a result of this update, my SkyDrive which is linked to these Documents and Pictures folders, changed to Make Online-Only. After, checking Make Offline, I now have to re-download all 3,000 files. This is extremely frustrating and I would love to know how to avoid this from happening again in the future.

Any insight is much appreciated.

Anyone know any good way in windows 8.1 to sync skydrive in windows explorer like it was possible with desktop app on Windows 8.
Skydrive app doesn't work, only new modern UI app but it doesn't sync skydrive if I use local account.

A:Skydrive for windows 8.1 (local account)

You have to log in as an MS account, not as Local. You can change this in PC Settings.

Also, 'Skydrive" is service that MS accounts use to store the Synced Settings, but it is still an MS account. The only way to use "Sync your Settings" is to use your MS account, it wont work for a Local Account.

Early versions of Windows 8, asked you if you wanted to use a "Skydrive" account to log in, but that was way back in February, now it asks you if you want to use your Microsoft Account.

The Skydrive Program that gets installed on the Desktop only accesses what's in there, there is a real Tile for that, but there are hundreds of fake tiles that have the name Skydrive in them, only install the one that says made by Microsoft.

When the Desktop shell for Skydrive is running, it makes a folder that you can get to in Explorer, and you can move files back and forth from the Net Account from that folder, it syncs instantaneously.

Hello,

I'm using Windows 8.1, and I have accidentally deleted the SkyDrive App Tile and am trying to find a way to restore it.

What happened was that I deleted the SkyDrive shortcut in the start menu, only to realise that doing this also deleted the SkyDrive App Tile in Metro View.

Is there a way to restore the SkyDrive App Tile? I have tried searching for SkyDrive under Apps but it isn't there, presumably because it is integrated into Windows 8.1. I also found the SkyDrive menu that the SkyDrive App Tile is a shortcut to under PC Settings, but it doesn't look like it's possible to make a shortcut to it directly from Metro View.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

A:Remove the "search for a message" box in windows live mail

Hello and welcome thread mate probably a daft question but why remove it?? I use it all the time with the amount of mails I have and it takes up such little space.

Having said that I would hazard a guess that apart from mucking around in the registry (fraught with horrible consequences) I can see no way of doing what you want to do.
If you do want to go that route I would suggest doing this at the earliest opportunity. I always do this after each and every install in two locations for safety sake.

- android phone with onenote app and googledrive
- desktop windows 7 full office 2010 and googledrive

II. what I'd like to do?
I'd like to be able to edit the same notebooks from Onenote in all my devices with and without internet access, syncing it every time it's possible but not needing a connection to work with these notebooks.

III. for starters Onenote apparently does not support googledrive. Can I go around that by saving the notebook file in the googledrive folder?

How do I do it? any ideas?

thank u very much,

Cheers

you can upload and download individual files anytime you have a connection without the automatic sync by selecting none of the folders to sync. Onenote will not work from googledrive, but the files can be used by the upload download method. Not sure of the Why's, but there you go....

A:Uninstalling Windows Live Essentials and windows live mesh activex control for remote connections

Someone else will have to advise you regarding Windows Live Mesh. I know nothing about that. For Windows Live Essentials: If you cannot remove WLE using add remove programs try Revo Uninstaller. If I remember correctly it will not ask which components you want to remove. Here is how to use Revo Uninstaller: 1) First we download it from here: Revo Uninstaller Free Version. Scroll down the page for the free version download. You can skip this Step if you already have it installed. However, you may need to update it. If you have it installed already, and you need to update it, go ahead and open it up and click the AutoUpdate Icon next to Help. The use of this program makes registry changes based upon what you select for removal from the Registry. Before running Revo Uninstaller please run ERUNT before proceeding to back up your registry in case you make a mistake. 2) Select the Program to remove from the list of programs and click the Uninstall button: 3) After selecting the program you want to remove, and confirming you want to uninstall the program, then you will want to select the Advanced Option: 4) Click Next. This will start the uninstaller for the application you picked. When the uninstaller is done, and it proves to be successful, and a reboot is required, then select NO and continue the below steps. 5) Follow the prompts during the uninstallation of the application. Once it closes you will be at this window: 6) Click Next again. Once the window is done scanning for files and other things that did not get removed, you will be presented with this window: . You will want to select only the bolded items, then click on Delete. If any entries-usually the last thing listed and not in bold-have a + sign click on the + until you see more bolded items. Once done, click Next. If it asks you to delete other files, then do so, but pay attention to the warnings.

A:windows live mail 2011 with Windows Live Messenger 2009

Hello GBP,

Was there something wrong with Windows Live Messenger 2011 that we could help with so you wouldn't have to worry about using an older version of it?

Here's the most common complaint and solution for it.

Hi ya. Ever since my McAfee SecurityCenter did it's update thing the "Live Search" add on has taken over as my default search in my IE 7 and I can't get rid of it. I'm running Windows XP Pro with sevice pack 2 on a Dell OptiPlex GX 240.
The McAfee update was from Firewall 6 to 7 and has really screwed other things up as well. As for the "Live Search" I have tried several times to change it in the Tools/internet options box in my IE 7 but it wont stick. How do I get rid of it or at least keep it from taking over as the default search?
Thank You

I mistakenly downloaded and installed Sysinternals Live instead of only Autoruns.

I've looked through my list of installed programs but I don't see SysInternals Live.

Can anyone suggest a method by which I can remove SystInternals Live from my PC?

A:Remove Live Search from IE 8

Do not mess with the registry unless you want a minor niggle to become a major headache!

Just "hide" the Live Search toolbar then forget about it:
Open IE, right-click an empty part of the tab-bar and left-click the appropriate toolbar name to Show or Hide it.

Hi, this is my first post on this board. I have a big problem. My laptop became infected with "Antivirus Live" and is now completely useless. I found this site, and followed the directions that were on the removal guide on the home page. I keep trying to run "rkill.com". and it seems to do nothing. I used the computer that I am currently on to download rkill and "Malwarebytes" to a flashdrive. Nothing seems to work.

It is about 12:45AM EST, and I need my computer as I am travelling for the holidays in a few hours. Is there anybody out there at this time of night that can help me. Thanks.

Remember, I am new here and not familiar with this site and am really desperate right now.

Thankyou garmanma for moving this to the proper place. I am not sure what is meant by creating the proper logs. That computer is useless right now. I am posting with a different computer. I can not get on line with my laptop.

This could not have happened at a worse time. I will be travelling for the holiday and was planning on getting some work done with my computer. I may end up cutting vacation short just because of this!

A:remove account in Live Mail 11

In WLM, click on Mail (bottom left).
Then right-click on the account you wish to remove, select "Remove Account".
This will also remove any messages under that account, so if you wish to save them, move them to a Storage folder first.

Guys, any idea how to remove Live Security Platinum? This is not an AV for sure, it asks me all the time to pay for its registration. I have not downloaded this tool. I have never seen it before in fact. All I know for it is that it produces pop-up messages and scans my own PC without my permission. I need to remove the tool immediately, but I cannot start my security program. Any suggestions?

A:Need to remove Live Security Platinum

Guys, if anyone is interested I found how to remove it! First I saw this link http://www.americanpendulum.com/2012/07/11/live-security-platinum-virus-how-to-remove/, it says this is some scam tool or rogueware program and it is definitely an intruder. Then I looked for some more information and decided to download Malwarebytes. It`s a free program and I had no problems downloading it to my PC.
Then I run it and there it was - the infection was detected as a threat and then removed by the AV.
I really hope this threat will be helpful for some other users in future!

Hi Friends
I have just taken new HP ENVY laptop which has Windows 8.1
I haven't checked well while setup and chosen login with microsoft hotmail account.
I noticed that if I don't have internet connection, I can't login to my laptop. So, I created a local account and granted Administrator privilege. But for sql server and all, it is still taking default login account not the local account.
How can I completely remove microsoft account and make my local account as Administrator account.
Thanks

A:Remove login live account

Hi,
I just would like to clarify with you what you mean about for SQL server and all. Did you mean the websites or applications or windows store app? If you can post back the screenshot to descript your issue, it will be more helpful for us to identify your
issue.
For the website it auto log in with Microsoft account, please check this FAQ:
[Forum FAQ] How to disable Microsoft account default sign-in behavior when accessing Microsoft website on Windows 8.1

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/2853cd49-c6c0-45c2-b276-a7f50da6786e/forum-faq-how-to-disable-microsoft-account-default-signin-behavior-when-accessing-microsoft?forum=w8itproperf#2853cd49-c6c0-45c2-b276-a7f50da6786e
For the application, you may need to recofigure the login option. This depends on what application you use.
For the Windows store app, we cannot login with Local account.

Hi all,

Is it possible in Windows 7 to turn a raid set back into a single disc without having to save an image, reformat and restore the image?

I have two drives, 10K Velociraptors, and am running them in raid 0.

I'd like to try and install a FreeBSD system on the other drive.

I'm going to play with the two, before I settle on whether a dual boot is what I want or just go wholehog down the 7 road when my retail boxes arrive.

I know that you can dinamically stretch a partition in 7 and vista, but can you un-raid a raid?

A:Is it possible to remove raid on a live system?

No you cannot un-raid a Raid 0 setup. Well not in a way that is safe.

This is a slightly annoying problem. I've disabled Windows Live Messenger from starting up, both through Messenger's options and through MSCONFIG. The program doesn't start when Windows starts. But when I log on to Windows Live Mail through a web browser, Messenger starts up on it's own. I cannot figure out a way to disable this. I've looked through Live Mail options and can't find anything to denote starting up the program. I only use my Live Mail account for junk mail, but need to check it occasionally and would prefer it if Messenger didn't start up on it's own.

Microsoft kicked off the month of May by announcing that they are discontinuing the Windows Live brand, saying the Windows Live apps and services were built on versions of Windows that weren’t designed to connect to a cloud service and citing customer confusion. They released a chart showing the transition process for many of the current services.

This seems to be further confirmation of Microsoft’s “all in” commitment to the cloud, but had some folks worried that we’re going to lose some of our most useful applications, such as Windows Live Writer. A petition sprang up to beg Microsoft not to kill it.

A tweet from Chris Jones (Windows Live VP) on May 3 seems to lay those fears to rest, saying: “all desktop apps work great and are supported on Windows 8, including WL Writer.”

I really hope someone can help me with this one. I don't know what's going on. I never had any problems installing MSN Live before and now, it's a real pain.

I just got my PC back from the tech guy. He formated my computer and reinstalled Windows XP including the Updates.

Now at home, I'm trying to install Windows Live Messenger (MSN) and it's not working. It's giving me errors like, to check that I have enough hard disk space (I have 176 GB free space), If my computer has a firewall ( I don't), and that I make sure that my computer meets the system requirements ( I do meet the requirements).

Now, I don't know what to do anymore to get MSN Live.

Can please someone help me with this?

Thanks,
