Missing Jumplist IE9 64bit

Q: Missing Jumplist IE9 64bit

I can't seem to find out why but when I have ie9 x64 pinned to my taskbar I don't get a proper jumplist like I do when using the 32 bit,

Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This is normal (and can be reproduced at will), and it appears from debugging it that it indeed has no shell hooks to display anything other than the default pin options.

Hello Vidya,

You could use the tutorial below to reset Jump Lists. It may take a day or two afterwards before the jump lists repopulate with them.

Hope this helps,

Is there anyway to add the "Open file location" to the context menus of files that appear in jumplists?

For example, my media player is pinned to the task bar. Right clicking on it brings up the jumplist with a list of recent TV episodes I've watched. It would be nice to have the ability to right click on the last episode I've watched and "Open file location" to select the next episode.

I used to do that from the "Recent Items" menu, until I moved my media files to an external drive. Now "Recent Items" doesn't keep track of files opened from external drives!!

Can you help me, please?

I have a small SSD (60GB) on which I had Windows 7 installed. On another drive (1TB internal HD) I had another Win7 installation. It was mainly the 1TB installation I chose at boot time.

I wiped the SSD and installed Ubuntu onto it. I set up grub, boot loader, to boot the HD Windows 7 installation which I still have. I can't get Windows to boot.

Auto-repair, from the Windows 7 disc, doesn't work (run 3 times at least). Copying the boot files, from the repair CD, onto the HD doesn't do the trick - it partly boots up into what it thinks is a windows repair partition. I also tried creating another 100 mb partition on the HD and putting the boot files there, including winload.exe. No luck. Perhaps this partition has to be at the start of the HD?

What should I be doing?

A:Win 7 64bit - Boot files missing, what to do?

This is why all other HD's should be unplugged during an install, especially when GRUB is involved so that it doesn't corrupt Win7. You should boot the chosen HD using the BIOS Boot menu to avoid GRUB corruption.

For now, unplug all other HD's except Win7 and run the Repairs given here for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot - Windows 7 Forums, in particular How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

Driving me crazy, others are reporting this problem and some have fixed theirs but none of the fixes I have seen have worked for me, this originally happened about 10 days ago and after messing with all these "fixes" it worked until today now I have no internet, says unidentified network with no internet access, have tried static ip which then will show my ssid but still no internet, any help would be greatly appreciated, also it is only happening on one of trhee Win 10 machines in the house, the 2 working use AC while the non working is on N, ty.

A:One or more network protocols are missing on this computer-Win 10 64bit

There are literally hundreds of reasons why this could have happened, and unfortunately there is no universal solution, unless a specific issue can be identified.

Nevertheless, here is a generic procedure you can follow in order to resolve this issue:
Launch Command Prompt as administrator. (see how to do that here)
Enter the following commands, one by one, and make sure that each command has finished before you enter the next one:

Spoiler: Command #1

Code:
netsh advfirewall reset

Spoiler: Command #2

Code:
netsh int ip reset

Spoiler: Command #3

Code:
netsh int ipv6 reset

Spoiler: Command #4

Code:
netsh winsock reset
Reboot your system.

The above procedure is suggested considering that the issue is not caused by malicious software or other software that may cause Internet connection issues for one reason or another.

I hope this helps a bit.

Question I have a Win 7 Ultimate retail
The 64 bit disk magically dissapeared and all I have left is the 32 bit disk.
If I took someones Win7 Ultimate disk 64 bit and installed it using my Product key would it install?

This will be a reinstall after a HD failure so it is the only location installed. 1 computer.

What do you think?

As long as your 32 bit isn't still being used, I don't see why it wouldn't.

Secretary's computer: Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP1

Boss's Computer: XP Home SP3

Problem: New Files placed in a folder under the Public area on the secretary's computer cannot be seen by the Boss's computer. Files and folders that existed when the folder was shared can be seen by the Boss's computer OK. If I change the security settings on the new files to allow everyone to have full control of the file, then the Boss's computer can see them normally. The problem seems to be that new files added to the shared folder are NOT inheriting the security settings for the folder where they reside.
I have been networking computers since 1986 and have never had so much trouble as this one. I await enlightenment on bended knee....

Hello all recently my girlfriend attempted to install windows 7 64 bit home premium on my asus k55a laptop forgetting to plug the charger in and causing some kind of issue to give me the error "bootmgr is missing" press ctrl alt delete to restart. I attempted to press F8 to boot from disk which does nothing and gives me the error again. Attempted to F12 change boot orders/priority's reboot still the same issue. The disk i used i literally 10 minuites before just installed windows 7 off this disk onto my gaming system so i assume its not the disk. If anyone could assist me and guide me how to fix this issue i would really and truely highly appreciate it . Thanks so much in advance regards vibe

A:Bootmgr missing windows 7 64bit asus k55 laptop

The install obviously did not complete and has nothing to boot into, generating that error.

Continue with the steps to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 deleting all partitions during the booted install, creating and formatting new or clicking Next to let the installer do it for you and begin install.

Make sure to follow the steps for how drivers are handled in Win7 as it is not the same as XP.

If you stick with the tools and methods provided then you will get and keep a perfect install for as long as you do, just like a milliion others have without a single complaint.

I am trying to clean install Windows bit from previous Vista bit OS I have a previously perfect RAID setup that seems to be recognized as C and a data drive that is shown in disk managment as below but does not appear in MyComputer nor is assigned a drive letter When initially installed I did indicate missing, clean mgr drives install: boot is 64bit the correct drive to put Windows as Disk which is the array but as you can see below something is not right with Boot and System on different disks Boot error came up with File windows system winload exe Status xc Info Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file Then boots ok from DVD only I have tried all the bootrec exe to no avail and then formatted the C drive from Windows System Recovery for another clean install My second clean install has the same result Except when boot now I get the quot BootMgr is missing quot error and then can only boot from DVD Please help James

A:64bit clean install: boot mgr is missing, drives

unplug disk 0 and reformat/reinstall Windows. It will have to put the boot files on the array.

then from then on all you need to do is make sure the array is the first boot device in the BIOS.

Start Task Manager
Under Processes, select explorer exe. END process twice
File New task Run - explorer. Exit Task Manager
Please help to resolve the problem permanently rather than ending the explorer exe and restarting each time I reboot.

Is it possible to pin anything to a program's shortcut in the taskbar?

EX: I have Photoshop in my taskbar. Is it possible to pin some other adobe applications to it so when I right-click the PS icon, they appear in the jumplist?

A:Pin anything to jumplist

Hello Lloyd,

By default, only files that can be opened by the pinned program on the taskbar will show up in it's Jump List as a recent item. You can pin these recent/frequent items. For example, recent text files for a pinned Notepad.

Jump Lists - Pin or Unpin Items

I'm not sure if that can be changed, but you might take a look at the program in the tutorial below to see if it may help.

Is the jumplist thingy only doable for the IE8 icon in the taskbar if one clicks a saved link which resides on the HD? Somehow I got the impression that it should be populating the jumplist with sites visited within the browser, which would then give the option of course to pin them to the list. Anyrate, neither way works for me. In other words, no population of link period in my IE8 jumplist. Any ideas?

Hi all--

I have Firefox pinned to the start menu on both my laptop and the desktop. My laptop doesn't display a jumplist in the Start Menu and the desktop does. Other programs have jumplists, but they are handy. My Firefox jumplist isn't handy.

How can I remove the jumplist entries on my desktop so that no jumplist arrow is displayed?

I tried to "remove from this list," but there are hundreds(?) of entries in the jumplist.
I cleared the brower's history to no avail.
Thanks all.

A:Jumplist

Do you want to just disable jumplists all together? You can right click on the taskbar, properties-start menu tab-un check Store and display recently opened items in the stasrt menu and taskbar.

Can anyone give me the link for these drivers, I think they are chipset from Intel, the devices are the SM Bus controller, and an "unknown device".
The HP Support site for drivers download only has chipset drivers for graphics, NOT for the chipset, while you can see Windows7 has both graphics and chipset.....

I am using 64Bit Ultimate Vista on the laptop HP Pavilion DV4-1430us.

These are the problem devices:
UNKNOWN DEVICE:
Not Available ACPI\HPQ0004\3&33FD14CA&0 The drivers for this device are not installed.

SMBUS Controller:
SM Bus Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2930&SUBSYS_30F7103C&REV_03\3&33FD14CA&0&FB The drivers for this device are not installed.

Much appreciated!!

Thanks.

I work with many windows so this is quite annoying, not knowing which windows containing what and which. Picture of preview not appearing already attached.
I have already tweaked through the windows aero advanced settings in control panel, and tried rebooting but it didn't work.

I run my windows on Asus ROG G75FR. Any response and help is appreciated.

A:windows 7-64bit reboot error ntosknl.exe missing or corrupt

Hello lpilar97 and welcome to Seven Forums.

My guess is that your bcd is somehow pointing to your cdrom drive, instead of the local disk.

To fix that:

1. Start Windows having the DVD in the drive. (so that it starts)
2. Find out which drive letter does Windows 7 installation use. It is probably C:. (Open Computer, open your hard disk drives. The one that Windows 7 is installed on, will have folders : Users, Program Files, Windows)

3. Open an elevated command prompt (run as administrator) and type the following 3 lines (in bold):

bcdedit /set {current} device partition=C:

bcdedit /set {current} osdevice partition=C:

bcdedit /set {current} path \windows\system32\winload.exe

(REPLACE C: on both above if your windows 7 partition letter is different)

Remove the DVD from the drive, restart your computer, and see if it helps.

Greetings.
I'm nursing around with a cust. jumplist with win8 tools. CMD is of course one of the programs in it, but I can't get it to open in elevated mode?

Using the program "JumplistCreator" I have made my list, but it can't use shortcuts, it starts the tool/program directly, and therefore the trick by selecting "Admin" in the shortcut don't work.
I _can_ add parameters to the given programname, but I don't know the parameter to give to cmd.exe for it to run in "Admin" mode.

How can I do that?

Is there a way to add this to a newly created pinned-to-taskbar folder?

I had used this tutorial to accomplish the creation of the pinned folder (to consolidate various similar programs I had pinned to my taskbar); thinking once I had it in place I could right click on it and get a list of the contents of the folder to launch from (instead of having to open said folder and launch something then close the folder again).

Thanks in advance

I have Win7 and Office 2010 both 64 bit. I also have a 32 bit application running where I need a 32 bit *.accdb
(MS Access) ODBC driver. Using the 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe is returning “The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application”. So I need a
32 bit ODBC *.accdb driver for my application.
My problem:
When I open c:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcsys32.exe and try to ADD a new dsn there is only a *.mdb driver available for MS Access. Does anyone know how to
add a 32 bit MS Access *.accdb driver to c:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcsys32.exe? Maybe I missed something obvious but this is giving me headache after browsing through the Internet for a solution.

Thanks

A:32 bit ODBC driver for MS Access 2010 (*.accdb) is missing in Win7 64bit

Carl, I just figured out a solution... If you are running a 64-bit Computer and Running Access 2010, you will first need to download the AccessDatabaseEngine.exe from Microsoft.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=7554F536-8C28-4598-9B72-EF94E038C891&displaylang=en

After the download finishes, and installs, You will need to create an ODBC connection. Instead of creating an ODBC connection through your Administrative Tools, Data Sources (ODBC) interface, you will need to run the 64-bit instance of Data Sources (ODBC).
To do this, you will need to click your "Windows" + "R" buttons on the keyboard, and then paste "c:\windows\sysWOW64\odbcad32.exe" -- without quotes into the dialog. Then create the connection to the database as you would on a 32 bit machine.

I had the same issues with the *.accdb not showing up in my 64 bit ODBC connections. It then showed up after performing the above steps.

Hope this Helps,

A few weeks ago randomly my windows explorer jumplist disappeared from one minute to the next.

After finally getting most of the locations I had in there back, it just now did the same. In one minute I got 5 folders pinned to it and a number in the jumplist history, in the next everything is gone except 1 pinned location.

I recently ran virus and malware scans, so it's something else. Is there anyway to prevent this? Can I at least make a backup of the jumplist file, so if it happens again I can just restore the file?

The support for Jumplists is a function of the application, I would check that the latest installation is the same revision as the previous ones. A lot of developers are adding windows 7 function support at the moment and it could be that a revision providing support is in only the latest version

I have several URLs pinned to the Firefox icon on the taskbar. Is it at all possible to edit the names of those URLs? I.E. instead of the entire URL "http://www.sevenforums.com/," can I edit it to just be "Seven Forums?" This would make things much easier to navigate. TIA.

On another note, how come sometimes when I pin a URL, they show a favicon and sometimes they don't. Is there a way to always get them to show a favicon?

A:Can I Edit URL Names in Jumplist?

In response to your first question I have found a silly way to achieve such. As to your second question, maybe answering your first question will gives us a bit of insight?

Anyway, you are asking about the pinned item in your jumplist. I use minefield but Firefox should be the same.

First of all, save a link you want to pin to your favorites and rename it whilst doing so (note: the site used in this post is merely for instructional purposes and no endorsement by this poster should be construed ):

Next open your bookmarks and drag and drop the site you just renamed and added to your bookmarks (if you're going to pin it, it might as well be in your favorites, right? ) to your desktop (I call this the "Desktop Step"). It's an odd step, granted, but it was the only way I found to preserve the name it's been given in the above step:

Then drag it from your desktop to your Firefox Start Menu item (remember, I'm using Minefield but yours should be no different):
And there you have it. A link named the way you want it to be named. (It is now permissible to delete the icon created on your desktop during the aforementioned interim step. Heck, you can even delete it from your bookmarks if you so desire.):
Note when I tried to skip the intermediate "Desktop Step," the name reverted to the url name:

Unfortunately, although the above helps with your first question, I guess it sheds little light on your second question. Sorry.

I like using jumplist categories, but I hate the fact that I have to enable "recently opened items" to use them. I was wondering if there is a way to get jumplist categories without enabling recent items.

I'll show some screenshots of what I mean.
In the above screenshot, I have recent items enabled. If I disable recent items, the jumplist is wiped clean. While I am using a 3rd party program, the principle is the same across all applications. If any program has a category in its' jumplist, you won't be able to see it once you disable recent items.

The only way to even view a jumplist with recent items disabled, is to make a tasklist.
While I can use the jumplist feature by using tasklists, I want categories! Is there any possible way to tweak win7 to not rely on recent items for category support?

I recently acquired a Pavilion Slimline (s5503w) desktop PC. For whatever reason the hard drive was blanked out when I received it and upon installing Windows 7 64-bit (Ultimate Ed) I've had quite some time locating the proper drivers. Attempting to use the recommended drivers from HP's website resulted in a 9996 error, you don't meet the requirements. Proper recommended installer for that version of windows, but no luck. I've also tried installing the Ethernet and Audio drivers recommended by Nividia's website. A 15.49 package, but though it recognizes the video card it doesn't notice the onboard Ethernet or Audio. Neither of these devices is listed in device manager as far as I can tell either. No typical yellow exclamation mark stating that the driver is missing.

How do you get the start menu and jumplist to be transparent/aero like the theme here: Windows 7 aero fixed by ~nullz0rz on deviantART? What files do you have to edit and how?

A:How to get aero start Menu/jumplist?

Well, from looking at the download you'll have to put the 'aero_fixed' folder and file into C:\Windows\Resources you'll have to replace the explorer.exe. To do so, you'll have to Take Ownership of the existing explorer. The explorer is located in C:\Windows. After you take ownership of the existing explorer, rename it to explorer.bak. Then take the 64-bit or 32-bit explorer in the package from Deviant Art (The one which is according to your OS version) and place it in C:\Windows. When done, log-out and back in.
When you right like your desktop and go to Personalize, you should see the theme from Deviant Art.

I want the Windows Explorer taskbar icon to be able to hold more jumplist entries than it does. Currently it is divided into three categories. "Pinned", "Frequent" and "Recent". Problem is that the total of all these is a fixed amount. Something like 14 pinned, 3 Frequent and 3 Recent. That number may not be exactly right but it's somewhere around there. If you add above that in one category, it subtracts it from the others. This should have been set up to be able to go as high as you have screen, the way Windows XP Start menu did.

Though I did not receive an error or select anything knowingly I now can only go to my windows explorer and anything that I drag into the folder tab remains missing. When I right-click on the explorer tab it only gives me the option to either go to windows explorer or unpin windows explorer and does not display my pinned items or my recent items. This is only for explorer and my other pinned programs (like excel) still work as before. Please help!

A:Loss of Pinned Folders in Jumplist

Maybe one of the files of the Explorer jump list is corrupt.

I'm currently making an app which lets you launch custom files/programs through a Jumplist.

The icons are saved in the apps folder.
After changing the icon (not the filename) and rebuilding another Jumplist the icon stayed the same.
It drove me nuts, b/c I couldn't figure out what the problem was.

Then I came up with the idea to clear the icon cache by changing my color depth to 32bit and then back to 16bit.

It worked!

Is there a way to avoid the icon-cache besides using new filenames everytime I update the Jumplist?

A:Jumplist Icon Caching - Bug or Feature?

Uhh no. Probably a bug, but at least you fixed it.

Nice Aaron, although I must have misread it, as I installed the version it linked to in the article and it did not offer any jumplist support or the other things it mentioned.

I pinned the NVIDIA Control Panel to my Control Panel Jumplist, but when I uninstalled the graphic drivers to update to a newer version, the shortcut on the jumplist no longer works, but it doesn't let me remove it either.

Windows 7 improvements. If you are a Windows 7 user, you should notice that we are shipping nicer application icons that work well with the new Windows 7 taskbar. These icons will also change when you are away or idle, so you can see your state right in the taskbar. Because AIM is so awesome, you should take the time to right click and pin AIM to the taskbar for easy access. Just right click on the AIM icon while it is running and click "Pin this program to taskbar".

is this a standalone program? hrmm. i think i'll wait until Mozilla, or some clever plugin developer, adds this to firefox. it doesn't really give much more functionality than is already present - i have several urls pinned to my jumplist right now, and if i feel like it, could change the icons to the site's favicon manually... these few extra perks, i think, are not quite worth running a background app for.

but thanks for the post! good to see these things are starting to emerge

Try this:Open Windows Media Player
Switch to Library view if it opens in Player Mode (the icon just beneath the close button in the top right corner)
Click the "Tools" menu, then select "Options"
Click the "Privacy" tab
At the bottom of the "Privacy" tab is the History box. Which if those items are checked?
Make the necessary changes to the History settings, then click OK

I've recently reinstalled Windows 8 and the jumplist for File Explorer now only shows Frequent instead of Recent. There's a load of instructions for Windows 7 and 10 but I can't find any help for changing the Windows 8 jumplist to show Recent instead of Frequent?

A:File Explorer jumplist showing Frequent not Recent

The toggle for this should be in the taskbar properties. Right click on the taskbar and go to properties.

There should be a tab for jumplists and a checkbox for recent items.

One of the applications I use shows Chinese and Japanese text in jumplist as squares. This is happening only on one computer. I tested it on some several other (32 and 64 bit) computers and it is showing everything correctly. The computer that it is not working correctly is running 32bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate. Hello PRATIK, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if after using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below, that your Jump Lists will return.

Jump Lists - Reset and Clear All Items

Since you are using CCleaner, double check that you have the Taskbar Jump Lists item under Windows Explorer unchecked. This will delete your current Jump Lists when used, and may be why you do not see any available.

Should my question not have been clear I will rephrase it. At the bottom task bar, when you open a program (media player, photoshop, explorer etc. you can R-click on it and it will show you a list of the file you previously opened. While right-clicking you can choose to either open a given file or delete it. I have deleted file after file after file, as said, totalling at times over a hundred. I would like to limit this to a smaller number (10 ideally).

Hi,

Hope this is the right forum for this question. (I don't think this is. I'm reposting this in the Customization forum. Sorry.)

Currently, when I right-click Windows Explorer in the taskbar, the jumplist shows "Frequent" files.

I would very much like the Windows Explorer jumplist to always show "Recent" folders instead instead of "Frequent" folders.

Does anyone know how this could be done? Perhaps a registry tweak?

Many thanks for any help,

I visit these forums alot and ran a search just incase yet was not able to find this anywhere It's something I thought could be useful for some people You know how you can shift right click on items in windows explorer to get added options Well the same command works on jump lists except with some useful files items app) multiple menu jumplist click Expanded with an on context right (open added functionality I remember at Expanded right click context menu on jumplist items (open multiple files with an app) least one forum member Expanded right click context menu on jumplist items (open multiple files with an app) having mentioned that the reason they misses quicklaunch is that they could drag and drop files onto an app to open said files with said app Well although this doesn't completely cover that problem as you have to use the keyboard it sure does help Lets say you have images you want to edit in a program but you dont feel like opening up the program and then searching for the files because you already have the folder with the files open in explorer Normally if you right click on the item in a jumplist that represents the application itself you only get Expanded right click context menu on jumplist items (open multiple files with an app) a tiny context menu with or four options I was messing around and saw that if you hold shift while you right click you will get a full host of options like one might when browsing in windows explorer So if I want to edit those ten images in GIMP for example I can select the images right click and press copy open the jumplist for GIMP and hold down on shift while I right click on the GIMP program in the jumplist Now the right click menu gives me the option to Paste so I select paste and voila my images open in GIMP Hopefully this will serve as a solution for some

Hi all,

I want to update the drivers for my GTX260 graphics card.
I downloaded the appropriate driver for my OS, Vista Home premium 64 bit (OEM):
Driver: 182.06_geforce_winvista_64bit_english_whgl.
But when I try to run the driver application I get the following error:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.Check your computer's system information to see wether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact your software publisher".

I have the same problem with 64bit NVidia networkcontrollers.

Is this a known problem or am I doing something wrong?

thanks

I noticed on another site (64bit and x64) they have a download of the same driver that is a 100 MB.

Is anyone familiar with start64.com? Can I safely download the NVidia drivers
from there?

And do I really need to install 64bit versions of the driver or can I just as well install the 32 bit version of the same driver (even though my OS is 64 bit) ???

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hopefully somebody here can help me I've looked around everywhere to find a solution for this issue but this problem differs from all the threads you can find in many forums around there it already worked well for me My problem I want to run a -bit virtual machine with VirtualBox on my -bit host OS Win Home When I created the VM there was already an option for -bit guests in VirtualBox settings so I installed Windows -bit and everything was fine Now apparently after uninstalling McAfee Internet Security with the official Removal Tool I can't start my -bit VM anymore but I can't find any McAfee related solutions on Google as well Instead I get errors that say the -bit guest 'will not be able to boot' Hyper-V virtualization errors etc - no wonder the -bit option is suddenly completely gone when I take a look at the VirtualBox settings Therefore I can't create or use any -bit VM anymore After searching for solutions for many hours I have to add the following There was never an option for Hyper-V under 'programs and features' I guess because I use the Home edition of Win which doesn't include Hyper-V In my BIOS there is no option with virtualization VT or any similar option I googled and it seems like my Acer notebook would enable it by default but locks the option to disable it in the BIOS like I said it already worked perfectly I can't even get my files from the virtual disk image because only a -bit guest OS can boot with it - afaik If I could get the files out of there I would just create a new VM (VirtualBox) 64bit gone? / Virtualization 64bit guest suddenly host with -bit and restore my files there to use it in bit mode any more ideas edit I use avast security now but Virtualization suddenly gone? 64bit guest / 64bit host (VirtualBox) I don't think this is the problem

Hi, just next to your post is mine, where on my new custom PC I found the Acceleration tab in Virtualbox greyed out.

I could not install Win 8 as a VM, and got an error about VT-X....... a setting which is under the Acceleration tab.

Like you, I found my UEFI offered no Virtualisation setting.. a dumbed down set of options.
The supplier immediately understood my problem, and said that Virtualisation was normally enabled on their PCs (on many in general it is not). So I sent mine back- they have another identical model where it's working.

What surprises me from your report is that you got as far as installing Win 10 as a VM if that was true in your case. If you also ran it, and the Acceleration tab is not greyed out, that suggests Virtualisation technologies are enabled on your PC. I'm not clear if you got that far.

On that basis looking for Hyper-V will not help (and it's not available in Home as you say).

Hi every one,

i have this machine which is causing too much headache for me,

this machine was having Windows XP 64 Bit,
and it had a lot of BSOD crashes, then i just decided that it's the time to make the move to Windows 7 for this high performance machine, since i was not able to upgrade to Windows 7 because of some applications just working on Windows XP 64 Bit, but now there is a copy of it,

Any way i'm still having those BSOD crashes,
I have replaced the SSD 500GB hard drive with another regular hard drive with no results,
tried to remove and install nVidia Driver,
tried to install a different version of that driver with no results,
tried to remove McAfee AV and installed Kaspersky Internet security 2013 also no result,

now i have grabbed all the data using SF Tool, and i really hope that u can help me with that issue.

thank you

Hello everyone,

I don't know if this was asked before, please forgive me if this is just a repeat. I am new in the forum.

Does 64bit machines (Dual Processors or Quad etc) need a 64bit Vista to maximize its capabilities? I noticed that new PCs and Laptops shipped today have pre-installed Vista but 32bit OS . . . why is this? Or does it really matter? Please explain this puzzling mystery to a non-techie like me.

Thanks guys.

I like Windows 95, 98, XP and Vista!!!!!

A:Does 64bit machines (Dual Processors) need a 64bit Vista?

Hello Rockrus, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Yes, you get the most out of your 64 bit machine by using a 64 bit OS with it. It will not hurt anything to use a 32 bit OS though.

This article may be an interesting read for you to help explain all of the differences between 32 bit and 64 bit.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

We at Design Science are working on 64-bit office compatibility for MathType. However, the current version is not recommended for use with Office 2010. More importantly, Microsoft doesn't even recommend installing 64-bit Office, even on 64-bit Windows, unless you really, really need it. See 64-bit editions of Office 2010.

When you download Flash Player installer using 64-bit Internet Explorer, you download the 64-bit Flash Player installer. It installs Flash Player on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Internet Explorer if both are present.Download Adobe Flash Player

We need tons more info.

First can you go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search)

Go to the windows log>application tab.

Look for critical errors (they have red in the left hand column) that say app hang, app crash, or anything relevant to the problem
When you find them note the event ID and source codes and relay them to us.

Let us know if you need help

So last night I started the Win 7 Pro 64 bit "upgrade" on my vista 64 bit business OS.

Before doing this on my home machine - I tested first at work on a VM of vista 32bit business - upgrade to win 7 32 bit pro.... took about 30 min. Done. Of course thats a vanilla install too.

I dont have a lot on my PC at home... a handful of programs at most. Going on 19 HOURS later, it is still at the "transferring files, settings and programs (62%) portion of the upgrade and still shows activity happening.

Any ideas on what is taking this so long to do? Suggestions on if I should just scrap this upgrade install ?

A:Windows 7 64bit unable to file missing file in Hijackthis log file

It's doubtful those files are missing. More likely a bug still present in HijackThis where it cannot correctly enumerate some entries, so it gives a (file missing).

I would not put any faith in online analyzers such as that one. Much better to use these online databases

www.systemlookup.com
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/

There's nothing wrong with any of those entries. Please leave them alone.

Analysis logs are only to be posted in this section of the forum, not General Security. I've moved it here.

I see no sign of infection in those logs. If you think the machine is infected...

We no longer use HijackThis as our initial analysis tool.

Hey I have searched all over my processor is capable. even though 64bit install Cant 64bit the internet and found no solution to my problem But considering my situation I am sure there must be a solution so here Cant install 64bit even though my processor is 64bit capable. goes Short story My pc says its bit capable but it doesn't seem to be able to recognize any bit install disks What should I do Long story A while back I upgraded from vista to windows When I did this I could choose between a bit and a bit installation I tried bit but it said that was not possible on my computer I cant remember the exact error message Cant install 64bit even though my processor is 64bit capable. I didn't make much of it and just installed bit But now I need bit for the new adobe video editor I don't have that first windows install disk But I since bought a new windows Home Premium bit disk When I insert this and start up the laptop it simply says system disk error or non system disk It seems like my pc is not bit capable and so cannot recognize the disk But on my pc specs you can check your specs somewhere it says that my pc processor is bit capable I'm not sure what this means Does this mean the processor is bit capable but the hard drive or motherboard is not All the hardware except the battery and power cable is still the original from when I bought the laptop years ago so it wouldn't make any sense to have a bit processor with an inferior motherboard hard drive I don't know why my pc wont install bit What should I do Things I've tried - I read somewhere if you have more than GB RAM that could be a problem I have GB RAM So I took out GB ram and then tried installing bit This didnt work The laptop wouldnt even start anymore until I add the gb ram back - Change the IPAC to enabled in the BIOS settings It turns out I have a retarded BIOS F A without any advanced settings so that I can't change the IPAC Whether the IPAC is currently on or off I don't know In Windows Upgrade Advisor it says that I need gb free space for the installation of bit windows My hard drive is GB but it is full atm Is it worth deleting GB and then trying to install again Surely this wont work because bit just erases everything anyway And plus if that was the only problem then my pc would at least recognize the install disk but then say I have no space afterwards no I'm at a loss Please help

A:Cant install 64bit even though my processor is 64bit capable.

I would recommend at least 4 GB of RAM and at least 20GB of free Hard disk space. If your HDD is 20GB then I would consider getting a new hard disk to find Windows and any ADobe apps as they do considerably use up a lot of disk space.

I know OS have to be 64bit, but I'm not sure about the hardware, what hardware need to be 64bit capable to fully support 64bit applications, OS etc?

thanks

A:What hardware need to be 64bit for building a 64bit system?

There's no hardware as such that you need to run a 64Bit OS. It's generally recommended that you have a reasonably fast system with 4GB or more RAM as 64 Bit applications are able to make use of it. More importantly, not too many 64Bit specific applications are available right now. However, that will increase in the near future as more and more people adopt a 64Bit platform.

Are you looking to build a new PC to run the new OS?

Hi

I have upgraded my NB550D to Windows7 Home Premium and installed 4Gb RAM.
It's working much better but want to go further and do a _clean install_ of Windows7 Ultimate _64bit_ in order to take full advantage of theupgrade in RAM.

My question is: What do I do about the Toshiba drivers for 64bit? I presume i will need some?

What is the best way to go about the upgrade - any help will be appreciated! :D

A:NB550D - Best way to install Win 7 64bit and 64bit drivers

If you would switch to Win 7 64bit then you will need some Win 7 64bit drivers.
On the Toshiba European driver page I could find some 64bit drivers but it looks like not all Toshiba tools for Win 7 64bit are released.

Drivers for WLan or BT stack can be found here:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/

All other drivers or Toshiba tools like value added package or Face Recognition, Eco Utility and others could be used from other notebook series? for example Satellite C660D or other series like L750D, L755D or C670D
Surely you have to pay attention to the built in graphic chip, LAN or chipset?
Use the drivers which are released for the chips in NB550D

I didn't know whether to post this in "printers", "Win7", or "drivers".
Anyways I am buliding up a new win 7 computer and I downloaded what I think are the correct 64 bit drivers for my Canon IP4000, but the os and these
files refuse to recognise my printer. It's hooked up by usb and it only shows up as a "Microsoft Document XPS Writer". When I click on "add printer" and "find printer" it says something about the printer needing a 32 bit driver and attempts to find it on the internet & elsewhere but it cant see the printer. Is there somebody in this forum with experience with this??...
