Change Display Date Format WLM

Q: Change Display Date Format WLM

This may be helpful to some of you? I was irrated that WLM only displayed the day and month in its boxes. I have discovered that WLM takes its display settings from the 'Short Date' as setup in 'Control Panel', 'Regional & Language Options'. You can only use the preset options available in the drop down box but at least my boxes now include the year!
Hope I'm not repeating something that has already been covered in this forum only my search didn't reveal that?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Change Display Date Format WLM

All the date formats in the "R & L Options" drop-down boxes include the year, so I don't understand which WLM boxes were not showing the year or how it could be fixed by making another "R & L Options" choice that also included the year.

Hi All
Is there any way to give access to end users only to change Date format(from dd/mm/yyy to mm/dd/yyyy and vice versa). I don't want them to change the date just the date format.
Relevancy 74.39%

I have a column of dates in dd/mm/yyyy format, yet nothing I do lets me sort from oldest to newest.
Basically it doesn't recognize the column as having only dates, therefore only allows me to sore from A-Z.
I have tried what was posted on a few other forums, such as copy-pasting the column in notebook and
then back to excel. I've also tried the text to column wizard, with no help.
I've tried creating entirely new excel files and copy-pasting the dates there, either directly
or copying to notepad and then to the new spreadsheet. Nothing seems to work.

I would like to change date format to, e.g.,2014/01/12 or 20140112 at least for the command prompt screen.
It seems that this should be a simple item, but I cannot find out how to do it.
I would like to have it everywhere, but that might be too much.
The main reason is for sortability of copied lists, but it is also more readable.
We have used the 8 character format 20140112, and 20140112235959 for all of our data for decades.
Now we go to quadiseconds which is the limit of the double precision mantissa (irrelevant here).
The command prompt screen is relevant to me now.

A:I would like to change date format to, e.g.,2014/01/12 or 20140112

The option to change the format is to click on the date/time in the notification area (lower right), then click on change date/time. Then click on change calendar settings. You can change the format in the next panel that comes up.

This is a continuation from this previous thread I started but is more specific to changing one more thing before I export the worksheet to a tab delimited file.

Need to add one more thing to this script and it has to do with the way the date is formatted in some of the cells. The cell gets exported as to what the cell format is versus what the true cell value is.

So for instance. The actual cell value that is typed into the cell is 12/23/2013 but the client put in a custom format of d-mmm so it displays as 23-Dec and that is how it gets exported to the tab delimited file. I need the cell to export to the tab delimited file as 12/23/2013.

So I tried this code to change the Date Formatting but this did not work.

If IsDate(rCell.Value) Then
rCell.Value = DateValue(rCell.Value)
End If
Anyone else got any ideas.

My pivot graph X axis won't change it's date format. I've tried changing the raw data format, data format in the pivot table but when I try to change the graph data format it will not change. The pivot date is suck in format
Saturday, July 07, 2007

I want it to be
07/07/2007 or anything but what is above!

A:Pivot Graph won't change Date Format

Click on a cell in your original data and see what it says in the formula bar at the top. Even though a cell reads, for instance, Sunday, July 01, 2007, if it is just formatting, it should read 7/1/2007 in the formula bar. If it does not (and I suspect yours will not), then the problem needs to be addressed there, in the original data. A pivot table graph takes the data that is there and displays that.
If that proves to be the case, do the following (this assumes your dates are in column A).
Highlight your column of dates, go to data, Text to columns, Delimited, put a check in commas.(BEWARE!! Text to columns will write over any other data, and this will write to 3 columns, so insert blank columns - extras don't usually hurt - after your dates and before any other data)!!!
The data will split out as Saturday|July 07| 2007 (where | indicates a new cell). Insert a new column between July 07 and 2007. Highlight the column with July 07 in it and go to data, Text to columns, delimited by spaces. Now you will have your data in 4 columns - day, month, day and year. Delete the column with the day (if you can) so the data is in columns A-C.
In the 4th column over (D, I am assuming), enter the following formula:
=CONCATENATE(A1," 0",B1,", ",C1) and drag it down next to your date columns.
(If you can't delete the days, it would be B1, C1, and D1, etc.) This will give you data that looks like July 01, 2007. In the next column over, enter this formula:
=DATEVALUE(D1) and drag it down next to your concatenate column.
Now you will have a column that has the apparent value 39264 for the date July 01, 2007.
Copy this column and Paste Special - values. This will give you the values in those cells, rather than the formulas. These numbers are how Excel deals with dates. You can format them how you want, but it will make no difference to the Pivot chart - the dates there will show as 7/1/2007!

A:Solved: change date format in excel

If the column is actually a date (not text) then highlight the column and go to Format, Cells. Select the Number tab and then click on the Date format. A list of formatting options will appear and you should find what you want.
If it doesn't work, do the same thing and select Number. If you actually have dates typed in, then 20100410 would show as 40278.00 - if it is text, it will show as 20100410.00.

I'm working on a spreadsheet that lists monthly recurring expenses. I have one cell on the sheet listing the current date (using the "=Now()" formula), but I'd like to have the other cells change at certain times throughout the month.

For example, if one cell currently says "April-15", when the actual date reads "April-16", the respective cell would change to "June-15". This way, whenever the spreadsheet is viewed the next recurring payment date will be seen.

I know this is the wrong tool for something like this - I'm using SharePoint at the office with a calendar list with workflows that shoot off emails in a much better put together format - but this is just for home use and I'd like to keep it all in one document if possible.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A:Excel 2010: Cell Date Change with Current Date

The way I read it was that you have fixed recurring payment dates, so you just want to know the next date based on the day today. Hope the attached might assist.
You need to list the payment dates somewhere and then the formula looks up the next date. You might want to look up today plus 1 (or something) to reflect the fact that if the next payment date is today, there's a good chance you'll not get any unplanned payments on that run.

My date/time display is set to show the time in 24 hours instead of 12am/pm hours. I do not know how to change it. Also, can I have the date displayed with the time on the taskbar?

A:Task bar display-date/time display

I had mine changed to 24hr once because of a malware, hope this is not your case! Assuming everything its fine, this is how you do it:

This tutorial will teach you how to change your system time from 24 hour to 12 hour.

First of all, Click Start and then click on Control Panel.

In the Control Panel (And this is with the Category View) click on Date, Time, Language and Regional Options.

After clicking that, click on Change the format of numbers, dates and times.

A box will pop up, click on the Customize Button next to the drop-down menu of formats according to their country.

Another box should appear. Click on the Time tab. If your system is already running using 24 hour time, in the Time format box there should be HH:mm:ss.

The two Capital H's make the clock use 24 hour. To change this, replace the Capital H's with small h's. So, you should have changed the format from HH:mm:ss to hh:mm:ss.

Now, that's fine and dandy, but you might want it to say either PM or AM at the end. To make this happen, add two small t's at the end of the format. So, the format code should now be hh:mm:ss tt.

Click on OK. And now click Apply in the Regional and Language Options box, and then click OK again.

Hopefully your time in the system tray should be in 12 hour.

For example, my machine organizes pictures by date, but mm/dd/yyyy doesn't really facilitate finding anything.

yyyy/mm/dd would be much better.

I just installed a split database on a non-profit organization s computer In a table that contains date fields I had set the date format to quot m d yy quot when defining the table fields on my computer When I subsequently designed the input forms for the table the dates show correctly in that format But when I installed the database on the client s computer the dates show in quot m d yyyy quot format I thought it might be because that computer s Regional Date Options were set to that format However I just experimented on my computer changing the Regional Date format to quot m d yyyy quot then opening the database to see if the Regional format overrode the format defined in the table It does working format Date not not So any idea why despite the date format being defined in the table as quot m d yy quot that on the client s computer it displays as quot m d yyyy quot nbsp

I was searching for a way to enter dates such that they are interpreted in the US (not UK) date format, i.e. mm/dd/yy not dd/mm/yy. It was unresolved in this closed thread
Since I've solved it, I'd like to share the simple solutrion with interested parties:

1. Close all Office applications.
2. Open Control Panel>Clock, Language, and Region>Region and Language>Change the date, time, or number format.
3. Under Formats, use the drop down to select "English (United States)".
4. Then close and open Excel. From this point on entering 7/1/11 will give you 1 July 2011, and not 7 January 2011.

Don't forget change it back afterwards (unless of course you're moving to the US

A:US to UK Date Format in Excel

You can also format the cells to your needs

Use the custom format

The ;@ forces the date to that format, you enter the date as you normally do so if it's Brittish dd/mm/yyyy and it will change to mm/dd/yyyy if the format is set to mm/dd/jjjj;@

What has to be clear for the use tis that he she has to enter the date as he knows ir should be

If they are used to entering day month year they will have to do that even though the format says different.

because February 1 2011 entered as 1/2/2011 will become 2/1/2011 in mm/dd/jjjj;@ format.

I hope I have been able to explain it,
The advantage is that you don't need to rememebr that you changed you country settings

I live in the UK and want to use the day-month-year format in displaying the date.

In Control Panel, Region and Language, Additional Settings, I've changed my Location and Keyboard, and set my date format to 'd.MMM.yy' (short) and 'dd MMMM yyyy' (long). In the W7 betas, this gave me a day-month-year format in all programs.

In the RC, I get the format I want in the notification area, Windows Explorer and Directory Opus, but my other shareware programs (e.g. Macro Express and Clipmate) display American date format in their listings. I installed them in Compatibility Mode.*

Does anyone know a fix for this? - in the registry, maybe?

Just to clarify, does this mean the date within these programs appears in the American format, or (say) in the Programs and Features 'Installed On' column?

If it's the former, I think the only way to make the changes is in the options for those shareware programs, rather than in Win 7.

There's a network, WinXP clients with a NT4 networkserver. When a user login (domain user) everything goes fine. But he or she want to change the date format to dd-MM-jjjj (Dutch) format. Keyboard settings, Dutch with US-International keyboard. That is not possible, an error message said "Not a valid date format". When I login as an administrator, there is no problem. Give (domain or local) user administrator rights, does'nt solve the problem.

Hya folks,

I need to enter a date in a table in access, however instead of using a normal input mask of DD/MM/YY I'd like to use the format DD.MM.YY as this is in line with the date format of all our bespoke software.

I've tried editing the input mask list to no avail. I'd like to keep the field as a date/time field as we need to do queries using it.

Any ideas gratefully recieved .

I have a legacy application (Borland Paradox) that ran fine on Vista, but when ported to a Windows 7 PC running under Windows Virtual PC, it kept throwing

I'm simply trying to figure out how to display the time and date on my taskbar, without the day of the week. I don't want my taskbar 3 "levels" high in order to see the date. Why can't I just drag it over so its wider rather than taller? Sorry I'm frustrated, hopefully there is a way to do this, but Windows sure doesn't make it easy.

I have not found a solutions which worked, datevalue returned #value etc. The basic problem is if your system date is not according to the date format in your text date column. So if you have set it to ISO, starting with the year, datevalue will not work etc.
This procedure worked fianally:

If the date format is like '12/31/2011 (US Format)
1. Change date format in CtrlPanel Regional & Language Option to the corresponding format, in this case mm/dd/yyyy
2. Select column with dates
3. Format Cells General.
Dates will change to Datevalue 40908 (Nbr of days since 01/01/1900)
4. Format Custom i.e. ISO Format yyyy/mm/dd (which really should be used everywhere)
5. Voila 2011/12/31
6. Change date Format in CtrPanel back to your Format

Can anyone give me a hand with this I have imported some data into Access with dates written in the form mddyyyy for Feb it gives and for Dec it gives i e they can be or digits long and are not formatted The field is date needed What I would like to do is show the records containing the date on a form sorting them in reverse chronological order I set up a query to get the data from the table and set up Format Solved: in Access Date my subform and then it seems I would have to dissect the date into year month and day portions and sort each of them Maybe there s a way to handle dates like this built in but I do not know It s easy enough to get the year with the right function as in Year Right date needed but the Solved: Date Format in Access days and months are a little more difficult since the leading month can be either or digits Note that the days are always two digits i e for the first of the month If the month is - then there are digits in the date and the month is the first character and the days are characters and If the month is or then the month is the first two digits and the day the second two My question is whether this is the right way to Solved: Date Format in Access do it and can a query field use some sort of if then else statement with the len function What would it look like If this could be done then I could use Solved: Date Format in Access the Left function to get the month i e first digit only when len and first two digits when len and the mid function for the days second and third digits when len and and when len If this is not possible then is it possible to format the data in the table as mm dd yyyy In that way it would be easier to use date sorting or break the date apart since the number of digits would be invariant nbsp

Having problems with the date format on our Citrix Server

Problem Details:
Office Apps are not using the System Default Date Format.
Regional Options show English (United States) as the locale - dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy as the long date format and that's what we want. However, when you use Word or Excel it keeps defaulting to English UK settings
E.g Thursday, 10 January 2008

This only seems to be affecting MS Office though

Windows 2000 SP4 Server
Citrix Metaframe XP FR3
MS Office Professional 2003 SP2

Recent Changes to System:
Server was in an NT4 domain and was just migrated to an Active Directory Domain. Users are still logging in with their NT4 domain credentials though (problem still exists when I login with my AD credentials).

Things I have checked:
Regional Settings
Registry Setting (HKCU/International)
Any ideas?

Welcome to SevenForums.

Let Win 7 open your .evtx files. The default is Event Viewer.

The average user will be using Event Viewer to view the event logs.

True, with a healthy work in time, you can learn to use PowerShell to extract and parse event logs.

I use a powershell script to clear all of my event logs - not for the space savings but to make the job of separating the wheat from the chaff easier.

Have switched from XP business to Vista. I am now unable to format dates consistantly & sort data into chronological order in excel. I have cleared all formatting, created a new spreadsheet, deleted & inserted individual columns & problem persists.
No matter what date format I choose, eg, English Australia 12/02/2008 the date entered will switch the first 2 numbers, 02/12/2008.This occurs when I am lucky enough to get a date format & such only lasts for about 3 entries. It then appears to switch to text format (entry is set to left of column). It also refuses to format dates in order. (I am selecting all adjoining columns so this that is not cause).
I originaly thought it was a compatibility problem as I copied spreadsheet templetes from XP to Vista, however after creating totally new sheets I am still experiencing the same issues.

Hi again all Need a little help and this time I think it is possible I just lack the computer know how to pull it off I have attached a summary spreadsheet so I can reference as I go but I will give a little back story first I want to create a spreadsheet that I can view and at a glance see who is traveling on a particular date and when they are due back The problem is that the personnel will travel several times a year and I don t date depending cell excel a Format in on want to just create a giant spreadsheet with loads of dates Cell A is Format a cell in excel depending on date just the persons name and serves as Format a cell in excel depending on date no consequence for what I am asking In cell B and C I Format a cell in excel depending on date want to be able to display when the person is NEXT traveling and when that person is NEXT due back Now this is the tricky part I want this to automatically change the value of the cells after the date has passed In E and F I have put example dates So lets say the th of July passes I would like the Outbound to change to th of Aug and so forth The same would apply for the inbound My thoughts were I could just dump all the dates at the bottom of the spreadsheet off the page break and have the text white so it is not visable and the sheet will be neat and tidy There will be several people to track and I dont like clutter If anyone is particularly clever could I even host all the dates for cells B and C on sheet of the spreadsheet Once again any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks amp Regards High nbsp

I have a user who is trying to update an Excel spreadsheet somebody sent them. In one cell, there is a reference to the date located in another cell. However, the way it is formatted, the date in the cell displays as just a number instead of the date ("September 22, 2010" displays in the 2nd cell as "40443".

In the second cell, there is some text along with the formula referencing the original cell containing the date. In the formula bar, it looks like this: ...Los Angeles, California 90013, on "&AP29&"

Yet in the spreadsheet, it displays like this: ...Los Angeles, California 90013, on 40443

In the original/refenced cell (AP29), the text entered into the cell is 9/22/2010, and is formatted to display as September 22, 2010.

Any idea how to correct the formula to display the date correctly?

Thanks a bunch.

A:Solved: Date format - Excel 2007

Hi Traci.

It's because the underlying value of the date is a number, which is how Excel interprets it no matter how it's formatted. To change it to display the date, you have to tell it it's a date within the formula. Try this:

...Los Angeles, California 90013, on "&TEXT(AP29,"m/dd/yy")&"

Without seeing the whole formula in the second cell I'm not quite sure about the positioning of the ampersands and quotes, but play around with it a little. Let me know if it doesn't work.

I'm setting up a database and have several date/time fields, which I'd like to have in a custom format - Short Date (UK) plus Short Time format, with a hyphen separating.

I'm trying the Input Mask:
00/00/00" - "00:00

I also tried editing the Date Format to:
dd/mm/yy - hh:nn

But either option (or both) gives me an error message that "The value you entered isn't valid for this field".
I've tried a couple of variations, but I'm evidently missing the principle of how this works.

I'm sure I've done this before, but can't remember how to fix it - oh, and I can't really mess with the PC's regional settings.

Sorry I cannot work out how to do it either. I can suggest that you use seperate fields to
input the date and time if you have to input them, why not just use the system time?

Down Under we show our dates as dd/mm/yy. I have a user who types in 3/4/00 and the system automatically reverses the date to 4/3/00. I have checked the properties on the regional settings, and the date options in Excel are also correct. I have tried, in Tools/Options/Calculations to change the date format to 1904, but the system wont accept it.

Any ideas for resolution appreciated.

A:(Solved) Excel date format wrong

In my 4 years in customer services for a well known computer company, I have never seen that before.

Microsoft Excel does not control the dates nor the settings, ie currency etc. Which version are you using?

Try using another Microsoft program like Word to see if you have the same problem, if not, then you would need to speak to Microsoft in New Zealand.

Also, double check to see under Regional Settings in Control Panel, in regional settings tab, make sure the setting is English (New Zealand), and press apply (if it is not greyed out. If it asks you to restart, press no and go to the Currency and Date tabs to make sure that the setings are for New Zealand.

If that fails, then you can *force* the machine to your own custom settings, by changing the values.

If all else fails, then it could be Windows itself.

Please email me to let me knowhow you got on.

I am trying to enter a date in a column as yymmdd but when I enter 09 as the year is drops the 0. I tried using different formats but that is not working either. For example, I changed the cell format to yymmdd and when I entered 090120 it displays 460926. Can someone tell me what I need to do to get it to display as I need?

I am having issues of completing this Nested IF statement: My current statement takes care of the issue/or concern if the column is null, however if it's not null and has the incorrect date format. How do I do a date format within the column/or replace?

Following is what I currently have:

Const_Date: IIf(IsNull([Construction Date]),IIf(IsNull([EOL Evaluation sheet.Install date (DD-MM-YY)]),[Building Built.Install date (DD-MM-YY)],[EOL Evaluation sheet.Install date (DD-MM-YY)]),[Construction Date])

And Following is a snapshot of the columns within the statment:

Hi welcome to the forum,
It's good use to also mention the name and version of the program you're using.
It's probably Access but ...
And "Following is a snapshot ..." well, still looking for it it's not there

I want my lock screen's date format to be abbreviated day, day number, then year. Can this be done? I know about the Registry LocaleInfo's TimeFormat key that controls the time format, but it doesn't seem to affect my Lock screen at all. I'd also like to see AM | PM in the time. It never shows, even though my key has h:mm:ss tt, with neither seconds nor AM | PM appearing.

What about the date? I'd like the date to show as, for example, "Sat. 16 May, 2015," and a long-name month as, e.g., "Fri., 25 Sep., 2015."

A:How to customize lock-screen date format?

Swipe down on the right side of your screen, or go to "Search" from the Start Menu. Search for "PC Settings" and choose the purple and white gear icon. On the left side look for "Time and Language." Click that and then make sure from there "Date and Time" is selected on the left. On the right side, at the bottom, select "Change date and time formats"
The lockscreen is not very customizable, but you should be able to get the date changed from there.

I have a list of events with dates that I want to enter in an excel worksheet and my problem is that the dates are not formatted the same:

-some are full dates and enter fine (day, month, year)
-some are month year only
-some are year only

Does anyone have any idea how I might get these all into one worksheet and be able to sort them?

I've read all the Microsoft stuff on how excel codes dates from Jan 1, 1900, so I'm dubious that there is a solution, but I would love to hear any ideas that might work or a suggestion for a workaround or other application idea for collectiing this data. It's a large project for a charity and they know less about excel than I do <g>.
