Q: Download Firefox 6 Final

Quote:
Mozilla has wrapped up the development process of Firefox 6 and is already offering downloads of Firefox 5?s successor.

However, the launch of Firefox 6 Final has yet to be announced officially, as the bits have not started being offered to the public.

Instead, the open source browser vendor is serving Firefox 6 Final through its FTP servers, at least at the time of this article. I don?t doubt that this will change soon enough, but for now, users can grab Firefox 6 via the link at the bottom of this article.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I purchased FFXI with four expansion packs yesterday for my son and I have been trying since then to install it onto our computer. Our computer is new, purchased in February 2008, it has Windows Vista. With numerous tries, I have been able to install the Playonline Viewer, and Tetra Master. The last install was FFXI and the expansion packs. I have followed all the directions, but it won't download. I have looked online to troubleshoot problem and can not find any help. This is the message I keep getting:

"The install shield wizard has been interrupted and FFXI can not be installed. Your system has not yet been modified."

What needs to be modified and how do you do this?

I hope someone can help us or I have no choice but to return the game.

Thank you.

Hi, Strife523, and welcome to the forums.

Go to Can You RUN It? and make sure that your system is set up correctly to run FFXI.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 that is almost 3 1/2 years old. I upgraded to Windows 8 by the clean install method from an ISO disc that I downloaded from the MS site. Does anyone know if an ISO download will be available for the Windows 8.1 final release? Clean installs tend to work better especially on older computers. Upgrades can be problematic in my experience.

Thanks,

Glades

A:Will there be a Windows 8.1 final release ISO download?

The more recent answer I've seen from Microsoft is No there won't be.

In the comments from this blog post:
Mark your calendars for Windows 8.1!

Microsoft answer the ISO question as follows:

I think "consumers" means people who haven't got a Technet or MSDN subscription, who can currently access the 8.1 RTM.

Also if you buy the retail version, it will presumably get you an ISO, but this won't be free.

Microsoft has officially released the final version of the latest Internet Explorer for Windows 7 users. The Internet Explorer 10 is available in 95 languages and Windows 7 users will all get the update to the latest version of IE automatically in the upcoming days but eager users are able to download it manually.

Internet Explorer 10, which is already available on Windows 8, comes with an improved JavaScript performance of the Windows 7 machines. The browser also focuses on battery management for Smartphones and the upgraded browser is integrated with spell checking and auto-correct features on Windows 7.

The IE 10 now offers better support for web standards like the latest CSS3, but the user interface for the Windows 7 version however remains similar to IE 9. So, the full-screen experience from the Windows 8 machine will not be available for the Windows 7 users.

This release for me is crashing on average 3 times a day, this should not happen with a final released program. Obviously Mozilla is ignoring all of the crash reports I send. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I use PaleMoon 64 Bit as my secondary Browser and it has never crashed. It may become my main soon.

A:Firefox 28 Final Release

No, Fx 28 ought not crash, but your crashes are most likely to be artifacts of something in your Fx profile, as the program itself is not known to be crash prone. You have no proof whatsoever that your submitted crash reports are being ignored. It is quite rare for them to be acknowledged; they are compiled to see if problems can be identified that need to be fixed for future releases.

Standard diagnostic - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

If you want replies to crash reports, post a few of their numbers, found in About:Crashes, on MozillaZine for experts to examine.

It?s now official, the final release of Firefox 3.6, the next iteration of the open source browser from Mozilla has slipped into the coming year. Users that have so far been holding their breaths for the delivery of Firefox 3.6, codename Namoroka, might as well exhale now, as they will need to exercise their patience a tad longer. Although users of Mozilla?s open source browser were already supposed to be running the final release of Firefox 3.6, fact is that they will only be able to do so in early 2010. And in fact, at this point in time, Mozilla isn?t offering a specific deadline for the general availability of Firefox 3.6, and is only pointing users to early 2010 for the time when the downloads are scheduled to go live.

A:Really odd Final Fantasy-related Firefox problem?

Hi Caliburn,

It sounds like it could be malware related, but have you tried going back to a restore point that preceded the problem? If you've never done this, go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore and select Return computer to an earlier restore point. Select a highlighted date from before the problem and follow the prompts. If this helps, then I recommend still going to the Am I Infected forum and asking if there are some further scans they recommend. If it doesn't help, go back to System Restore using the same pathway above and reverse the change you made.

Try this:Click on Tools then Options. Click on Downloads on the window that pops up. You'll see it near the top, 2nd choice from the right.Under Download Folder, see if there is a little green dot in the little radio button by Ask me where to save every file. If there isn't, click on the little radio button.Under Download Manager, see if there is a check in the little box by Show download manager when a download begins. Click on the little box if there isn't.If that doesn't work, then try this:Go to Downloads as you did before. This time, click on View and Edit Actions near the bottom left of that window. Another little window will open up, and you will see a list of file types on the left and the programs assigned to open them on the right. Depending on the file type, when you click on it, a Remove button will become active. In all cases, a Change button will become active. If you use the Remove button, Firefox will again ask you what to do with that file type the next time it comes up in your browsing. If you use the Change button, you can change the program Firefox will use to open it. You won't get the window asking you what to do with the file.Hope this helps,Orange Blossom

A:I can't download in firefox using XP

If IE works ok and the computer seems ok otherwise then you could try a system restore or last known good configuration or just uninstall firefox and reinstall it.

I have had good luck with firfox running but other browsers such as AOL's have had to be reinstalled so maybe that is what you need to try. I might add i picked up a virus a while back and ever since even though computer is supposedly clean i still can not get netscape to load off the desktop icon. it starts to to load then says it is done. so you may have an issue with firefox similar to this.

While running Firefox 1.0.7, I tried to download ver 1.5. Firefox would only freeze up. I uninstalled Firefox and downloaded the program using IE. The sownload was successful. However, Firefox will not download anything--text or images to my computer. It just hangs up and is very difficult to get out of the program short of rebooting. Am running Windows XP w/ SP 2. Until a week ago, evertything operated properly. I need help

A:Firefox will not download

It could be a Profiles problem. The Firefox 1.5 upgrade should bring your 1.0.x Profiles folder up to the 1.5 format. Perhaps that process didn't work for you. I think it's best to create a new Profile anyway when a major upgrade is released. So, perhaps try deleting the existing Profiles folder and get off to a clean start with a new one. I feel this would stand a fairly good chance of remedying the problem.

If you choose to try this, don't forget to back up your 'Bookmarks.html' file before doing anything with the Profiles folder. Extensions etc can always be reinstalled but losing bookmarks can be tragic.

Latest Version of Firefox was being used.

Firefox would not open any page instead giving "Page Load Error". I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and it did not change and now Firefox will not reinstall.

Internet Explorer 8 is now having the same problem, yet individual programs can be updated when they connect directly w/o the browser like updates to AVG or Spybot.

One time when I ran IE diagnostic, it identified a Winsock file issue but did not fix it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can post a DDS.txt log, which I ran, if needed.

Problem After a couple of weeks with no problems I can no longer download anything using either IE 7 or Firefox 3.0 (latest build).
*However* the new Google Chrome works fine!
I have done the ususal, empty tempfiles, etc., remove cookies, disable virus programs without success.
I can navigate around the internet just fine. I can download PDF files.
What happens is when I click a Download button the internet stops (hi speed satellite), if I click anywhere in the window it greys out, Task Master shows that it is still running for a few moments and finally goes to "not responding" (most of the time). Sometimes I can close the window and other times not. IE reloads.
Any ideas would be apreciated. I have logged over 10 hours on this already.
Thanks

A:Cannot download in IE or Firefox

I have also been trying to troubleshoot a similar issue for a friend (for about a week or so now) and am stumped as to what could be causing it.

Anytime a download is initiated in Firefox (3.0.1), the download process completes but the file is automatically deleted (the tooltip in Firefox's download window says 'File Not Found' for one of the details listed). As for Internet Exploder (yes, I meant to call it that ) goes, the downloaded file is not in the designated folder/directory. And in both instances, the file is not locatable via the search string in the start menu.

The only file types that appear to be used ter downloading are .doc's and .pdf's.

As the OP said, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Now, when I click on a torrent file, the "Open with" section is blank on the popup, and even if I change it to "BitTorrent (Default)", the OK button at the bottom is unavailable. I CAN'T CLICK ON IT! Mozilla has released its latest wave of security and stability updates for the still-supported release of Firefox. March 2010 is the only month in which the company made available refreshes for no less than three flavors of its open source browser. Firefox 3.6 received its first update earlier this month, jumping past 3.6.1 straight to 3.6.2. Now it?s the turn of 3.0.19 and 3.5.9 to be delivered. Mozilla announced previously that it was aiming for a release on March 30, and it looks like the browser maker is right on the money.

A:How to download videos in Firefox

I think they've generally tried to put paid to it. If it's YouTube there are freebie programs but you have to watch they are not laced with malware.Again, for Youtube this addon should still work in Firefox:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/fi...or you can use these online downloaders (just paste in the URL):http://en.savefrom.net/http://www.videograbby.com/Probably others too if you Google around but as for websites other than YouTube then it's getting tricky. I use YTD which does quite a lot but you have to know how to get the malware out of it.You can grab a video snapshot of anything with "Krut Computer Recorder" but it's a little fiddling and you have to go for best sound settings each time. It only captures at the size of the screen you can put a box around.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

If the download works, check to see if you have the Download Manager set to display.
Tools> Options> Main tab> check the box: Show the Downloads window when downloading a file.
You can also type about:config in the address bar of Firefox and hit Enter.
Go to
browser.download.manager.showWhenStarting
and make sure it is set to true.
If set to false, double click on the line to set to true.

I've had a similar problem in the last few versions of Firefox. It doesn't crash, but sometimes downloads start and don't go beyond 0%. Clearing the cache or restarting Firefox fixes it in my case, yours might be something different though.

Try the FlashGot extension. It's much more reliable and allows you to pause and resume downloads, as well as download from multiple mirror sites simultaneously for extra speed.

Welcome!

I have a question: how are you encountering the second problem if you cannot download the exe in the first place?

Also, have you tried using another browser, like IE? Even if you do not want to use it, it will still help us figure out what's wrong.

And I have the feeling I will ask this later on, so I will ask it now instead. What anti-virus are you using?

A:Can't Download from Mozilla Firefox

'Save' means 'download' - they are exactly the same thing, the file is downloaded over the internet and saved to your hard drive.

In Firefox, go to Tools > Options > General tab. In the Downloads section, enable the 'Show the Downloads window when downloading a file', and click the 'Save files to...' option. This will save all your downloaded files in the same folder every time, making it easy for you to find.

I've never had to shut down Firefox while downloading, except when updating system files like Flash or Firefox addons. It asks you to do this so the files can be installed correctly without clashing with already running versions of the same files.

A:Firefox Disabled After Download

Have you tried a complete uninstall/reinstall of Firefox? This is different from a simple uninstall, using Add/Remove programs.Note: You will have to go back and redo all of your personal settings (Options), as deleting the Profile folder will erase everything Firefox related. You will be starting with a clean slate. To completely uninstall Firefox, you will need to delete your Profile folder. This file is not removed when you uninstall Firefox from Add/Remove. It will retain all of your previous settings, and re-apply them to your new install, if it's not deleted. That's why, when you install a new version of Firefox, your previous settings, bookmarks, passwords, etc., all remain the same. For a Fresh (start from scratch) install, this folder has to be removed. You might want to make a copy of the Bookmark.html file, before you uninstall, and save it to somewhere you'll be able to find it.This is where all of your Bookmarks are stored.Set windows to show hidden files,How to see hidden files in Windows Then navigate to:C:\ Documents and Settings \ "your user name" \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles \ default.random characters \ Bookmark.htmlAnd make a copy of the Bookmark.html fileThen you can replace, the new one created, with the old one, you copied. After you install Firefox, delete Bookmark.html, and replace it with your saved copy of Bookmark.html.Restart Firefox. That way, you'll have all of your Bookmarks back. Now for the uninstall.Uninstall your current version of Firefox from Add/Remove programs. Then navigate to:C:\ Documents and Settings \ "your user name" \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ ProfilesDelete the Profiles folder (or send it to the Recycle Bin as a backup). Then navigate to:C: \ Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox, and delete that folder.Download a fresh copy of Firefox. Now, reinstall Firefox.Don't forget to replace your Bookmark.html file.

Is there any Firefox add-on that can manage torrent download? (just like opera does it? I'm kind of trying to turn my firefox into a copy of opera and that's the last feature that I need.)

Thanks.

While downloading files of say 3MB or so....In the download window...Which "updates" every second....

Firefox starts and ends in the 87 to 93 Mb/sec as what one might expect...

IE6s sequence goes as such..at each second during the download....156/242/176/167/143/129/122/117/113/111/109/107105/104Mb/sec...and the gradually deminish to 90+/- Mb/sec.

Have NOT put a stopwatch to it OR compared them side-by-side.

Using IE6 instead of IE7 as I "discovered" Firefox when IE7 was being introduced.

Implemented "pipelining" for Firefox from a thread here(can't find it right now). Also tried to use the Add-On "Faster Fox". Tried them individually and together and found "pipelining" by itself, was quicker in loading web pages.

Is IE6 faster in this respect (as opposed to webpage loading) .. or ... is IE6 "fudging" the download speeds...if that is at all possible...???

A:Ie6 --vs-- Firefox Download Speeds

Internet Explorer is integrated with Windows, so it's already partially loaded. See this for speeding Firefox up, but it still has to start up cold, where IE is already prewarmed : Increasing Startup Speed

Have you tried other downloads? It should not require any changes to download. Maybe you have the popup blocker turned on, or need to add that site to the exceptions.

Before beginning the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.

It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence.

I need more information before continuing, please.

For now, I'd like a more comprehensive set of logs from Deckard's System Scanner.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are using an outdated version of HijackThis. Please uninstall from Add/Remove programs, and delete your current version.

Next, download HijackThis to your desktop

Alternate link

Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.

When it does, just close it, please. Next....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt here.
Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

Click Upload.

What DSS will do: create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please post in your reply:

From Download Squad-
?Mozilla is attempting to break a Guinness World Record for the most downloads in 24 hours with its upcoming Firefox 3 release.

?Download Day? is nothing new for the Firefox crew, and it's really a great way to spread the word to the world about software. Sure, people can download things whenever they want, but there's something cool about all doing it at once...it's like Hands Across America. Except it has little to do with hands, and it's global. You get the idea."

Can anyone suggest anything? A system restore did not help. My connection overall seems to be slower. The estimated time for firefox 2 to download is 1 hr 37 min and timed out when I tried. I don't recall it taking that long before with Verizon DSL. Please help!!!

I'm downloading a MB installation file in Firefox and everything seems to be running normally The download box pops up and this is strange because I have Download Status bar and the Firefox download box has never popped up at the same time as the download status bar I don't need Firefox download Firefox speeds so I close it and leave Firefox's download box up Suddenly the download rate plummets going from KB S to KB S The Firefox download speeds download will now take close to three hours so I reopen Firefox to see what is going on By the time I get to bleeping computer download rate went back to KB S and finished Any reason the download speed would go down when not on a web page and go up when Firefox download speeds viewing one In addition I'm pretty sure my download speed isn't that slow any way to check if it is a bad Wi-Fi connection or just the site's servers I have the Wi-Fi about feet away and the signal isn't going threw walls Thanks Jake

Hello,

I've disabled everthing i can think of and added bleepingcomputer as an exception but still can't dowload anything at this site.

I get the message bar at the top of the browser window that says "firefox didn't allow this site" message.  When I click the Allow button I get sent back to startpage for the download section.  drat.

A:Help...Firefox won't let me download anything at bleepingcomputer

First,  click on Help and choose Restart with Add-ons disabled. After restart of Firefox, try again to download.

Tell us what it is you are trying to download.

Whenever I try to download a .zip file i get this error

For example i wanted to download this small program called "tsearch":
"C:\Downloads\tsearch.zip.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator."

now i have 2 files in the downloads folder.

a zip file called tsearch that is 0 KB in size

and a PART (whatever that is) file callled tsearch.zip.part that is 1,415 KB in size

the error usually occurs between 60%-80% in the download.
any thought?

thanks in advance

Disable your download accelerator add-on, restart Firefox and use the right-click 'save as' method to download.

While on Firefox, and trying to read some article I started getting the massage "Cannot find this URL". I was not trying to find anything. Anyway that kept crashing the Firefox, so I un-installed it. When I try to go to Mozilla Download site and try to download Firefox 3 I end up getting a Google message that the link is broken. This happens on both Internet Explorer and on Chrome, which I am using to post this massage.

What is happening?. Is Mozilla site compromised?. Your help please.

Can't download anything on my computer. Tried to download Silverlight today. Mozilla shows the download but can't access the file and when I try to download in IE I get a red box at the bottom of the screen saying" Silverlight.exe contains a virus and has been deleted." It doesn't matter if it is an .exe file or a pdf, I get the same message.

I've had this problem with my computer for years in Firefox but I could download in IE. Now I can't do either. It's an Acer Aspire that came with Vista but was upgraded to Windows 7. I have searched everywhere, reduced the security settings and still can't download.

Any ideas?

A:can't browse & download from IE8 OR Firefox

Hi gavinsmommy1019 and welcome to TSF.

Sounds like you have tried quite a bit so far.

Can you check you Device Manager for any warnings (yellow exclamation points) next to anything.
Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'. In the Computer Management window, select 'Device Manager' on the left and look for any warning signs.

Also, it may be worth re-installing your network (LAN) driver again. You should try to get this directly from the PC's manufactures site instead of updating via Device Manager.

Have you tried using different cables to connect with. Could be a faulting ethernet cable.

You should also try running WinSox Fix as that helped me out when I was running XP sometimes.

Very strange conundrum, this is!

I just got my fancypants new install of Windows Vista Home Premium. This is my second copy of it, the first went on my laptop, which has no trouble at all with Firefox 3.

On my desktop, however, Firefox 3 is acting very strangely! Whenever I want to download a file, it simply refuses to work. It'll act as if it is downloading, it'll finish, and then that's the last I hear of it. No way to open it, and it's not in the directory I told it to download to.

Even opening a file directly won't work. For example, opening a torrent will work, but when utorrent comes up, it's all, 'Where's that file you wanted me to open?' and it's simply not there

Any suggestions?
