The publisher of this program couldn't be verified.

Q: The publisher of this program couldn't be verified.

I'm using Internet Explorer 9 and I've been trying to download a file I need. However, it keeps giving me the message "The publisher of this program couldn't be verified", with options to "Open" the file (which doesn't work because it's an incomplete file; I guess it blocked the download), "Learn more..." which is useless and "Cancel". There's no option to download the file, even though I know I can trust it and it's a file I want.

Does anyone know how to get around this?
Real answers please, not just "get chrome lol"

Preferred Solution: The publisher of this program couldn't be verified.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: The publisher of this program couldn't be verified.

Take a look at the "security" tab under Tools/Internet Options. If it doesn't work with default settings, you can lower the security level for "Internet" or add the site name to the "Trusted sites" zone. There is also a "Certificates" section under the "Content" tab which is rather complicated. Some sites are blocked simply because they forgot to renew their certificate on time. In the past, when I encountered a problem there was usually an option to by-pass the protection, but it's possible there could be a group policy setting that was changed from its default in order to further "lock down" IE. Did you set up IE yourself or was the computer supplied by your company?

Hi,
I used to be able to start Money 2005 without a security box popping up. Now it says, "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?" I don't have the installation CD as it was pre-installed when I bought the PC. Once I click to "Run" it, it goes through ok. I have Windows xp sp2 and IE 7.0 Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

In IE, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced
Scroll down to the subhead "Security" and put a checkmark in the first three boxes.

Save your changes.

Report back your results, please.

Hello,

is it possible to disable the Windows security message which tells "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to install this driver software?".

It come up every time a driver seems not to be signed correctly.

I would not want to try this with my computer, but you can go to tools>internet options>security and set to lower levels of security.

I would not want to do that because, once I start downloading drivers etc, I want the highest level of security available.

This should work, but as I said I never tried it.

Ever had this happen You spend minutes or longer downloading a program or error publisher be verified not The could Download file or whatever only to get to where it has finished downloading so it should just save to your system right But after all that time waiting amp after using all of that bandwidth at the very last minute it just won't save at all amp brings up the error -The publisher could not be verified- or -Invalid Digital Signature- amp then it doesn't give you Download error The publisher could not be verified the option to override the warning amp then it just closes Man O' Man this one thing was driving me Crazy more than anything else in the first week of running win I felt like throwing this OS in the trash I tried lowering security levels amp un-checking boxes here amp there in the internet options amp I even ventured into the group policy editor on the advice of quite a few online sites amp changed some security settings in there but it made no difference no matter what I did it still kept on happening Anyway if you ever get those errors amp IE gives you no choice to override them like was happening to me do this NOTE The download will still halt at the end amp give same errors but it will also give you the option to override the warning amp actually save the download to your system Click quot Start quot gt quot Control Panel quot gt quot Network and Internet Options quot gt quot Internet Options quot Click the quot Advanced quot tab and scroll down to the quot Security quot section Check quot Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid quot Click quot Apply quot and then quot OK quot Restart your download amp at the end of it you should now have the option to click quot Save quot quot Run quot or quot Open quot the download Some will argue that doing this is a security risk So if you also think this then don't do it Simple But if you want to be able make your own decisions on whether to trust what you have just downloaded this gives you that choice It can't be all that bad otherwise why would they give you the option to tun it off Well it worked for me anyway

You shouldn't start a second thread on the same topic, especially in the heavily overworked antimalware forum. I know it can be quite worrying when you aren't getting help, and the temptation is always to shout twice in case no one heard the first one. The truth is, it can take a couple of days before someone gets onto your case in this forum because there are simply so many infections and so few helpers. There are however a few things you can do to help make sure you do get the help you're after, and that they fix up the machine as fast as possible.

Follow the instructions in this sticky thread and post the results of the logs in this thread.
http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/943214-everyone-must-read-before-posting.html
That will provide the trained antimalware helpers with the information needed to diagnose and repair your issue. As I'm not trained to provide such assistance, I'll leave you in their capable hands.

I've just asked one of the moderators to close the duplicate, so focus on this one.

All the best

thanks !! that seems to have worked, that means any .exe file will run without prompting.
I'm a bit surprised there's no method to selectively choose individual .exe files, like a firewall program can do.

Since my original thread regarding this problem is closed (too old, from November 2008), I am continuing it on this new thread.

As a reminder, somehow for some strange reason, my Windows XP Pro SP2 laptop stopped giving me warnings for unsigned downloadable programs. I tried (almost?) everything conceivable to fix that - to no avail. Here is the original thread:

I *want* the "Publisher Could Not be Verified" warning!

I eventually got to implementing the last suggestion (sfc /scannow), but that didn't help either.

I am out of ideas, totally baffled by this mystery.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

A:I *want* the "Publisher Could Not be Verified" warning (cont'd)

Eureka! I can't believe this... I think that I solved the mystery: Said warning does appear but only for programs that I download via Internet Explorer!

I was testing this function all that time by downloading via Firefox 2.0...

Apparently, the hint has always been there, in the form of the registry key path: as its name implies, it is intended for Internet Explorer. Duh!

However, I could swear that it worked via Firefox, too, on the other machine. The other machine has Firefox 3.0. Is it possible that Firefox 3.0 supports this feature while Firefox 2.0 doesn't?

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I don't want to preach, but before you disable warnings of this kind you may wish to consider you have a possible virus infection.

I'd be inclined to run a full virus scan in Safe Mode, for which Malwarebytes is highly recommended.

A:Couldn't open program, help

it's because one of the following files is missing from \WINNT\System32 or \WINDOWS\System32:

* Config.nt
* Autoexec.nt
* Command.com

Check to see that these files are there. If not, expand them from the install CD and copy them to \WINNT\System32 or \WINDOWS\System32.
They'll be on the CD in the \I386 folder as:
Config.nt_
autoexec.nt_
command.co_

From a command prompt window, type Expand /? to get instructions for using Expand.

i need a good program for making bussiness cards and banners and such.

A:publisher program

I’ve had good success making business cards with Photoshop. I wouldn’t consider anything else for banners. If you have a printer that won’t print banners there are programs available that will split a banner into separate 8.5 X 11 sheets you can tape together. I haven’t tried it but it seems that would be easy enough to do with an image editor also.

There are specialized programs for making business cards. You can set up a grid in an image editor to make cards for the laser cut Avery standard business card stock and I’m more comfortable with the layers and such in the image editor. But evidently many people use the business card programs.

Photoshop is pricey and there are other programs that will do that just as well. You might look at the free versions of Serif programs. Not only the PhotoPlus program but also PagePlus since you are interested in publishing programs and also DrawPlus for vector graphics. http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/

You might also do a search for Paint Shop Pro on Ebay. You can get PSP X delivered in the US for $20 and I find it a very competent image editor. PSP also has some vector capabilities that Photoshop doesn’t.

I also have Adobe InDesign and M$ Publisher for desktop publishing, but would personally use the image editor for what you describe. I think Office Pro includes Publisher if you have that.

Howdy. You might consider a couple:

PageStream, which is cross-platform (~$100 US)

Papyrus is not as handy, but a powerful page layout program, cross-platform (~$100 US)

Ragtime is on the higher end and includes spreadsheet, word processor, page layout, presentation; also cross-platform

It opened before, I never had to put CD #2 in to run the program. How can I get this to open when I double click the icon.

It only shows up if I install or uninstall something. Otherwise on the programmes and features window the real publishers are listed. Thanks for all the help so far.

I know i am reviving a very old post, but LOVE my program and don't want to purchase a different version.... I've upgraded to win 10 so likely lost all ability to try to make this work. No instructions or anything to upgrade and take old projects with it even. Wonder about booting from another drive in old windows program? Anyone tried this, and to format the current drive to take 2 operating systems would it mess up any of my current programs or files?

I was sent these document by someone to use on a webpage but cannot see them because I only have Publisher 2000. Unforunately, I have been unable to contact this person to get them converted. Is anyone, preferably a Moderator, able to assist me by converting these files and sending them back to me.

Thanks

try the trial version of 2003:

it limits itself after 30 days, but should be enough time to convert a few files

*rant* don't ya wish people that get the latest software version would realize that others choose NOT to upgrade for a variety of reasons, and they should check first before sending latest/greatest versions out?

Does AppLocker use only the publisher info from a certificate or does it identify different certificates by some other means such as thumbprint? I ask because I don't see any other way of differentiating publisher rules.
For example, I have an exe that is being blocked by AppLocker (audit) but I am positive I have a rule with the same publisher info that should be allowing it. I can see this file is being successfully run on other machines.
Is it possible that this is perhaps an older/newer version of the same file signed by an older/newer certificate that has the same publisher information?
Machine1 has C:\file.exe that is allowed to run. It is signed by O=SAMPLE ORGANISATION, INC., L=SAMPLE LOCATION, S=FLORIDA, C=US
Machine2 has C:\file.exe that is prevented from running. It is signed by O=SAMPLE ORGANISATION, INC., L=SAMPLE LOCATION, S=FLORIDA, C=US

I'm running Windows 8.1 and I have an old version of photoshop elements in my x86 program files (it's elements 4.0, please don't laugh). I have UAC on the next to last setting before disabling it altogether. When I launch elements, UAC asks me if I trust it because it's an unknown publisher. I don't want to disable UAC, but I want it to trust elements and not popup the "are you really sure" box each time.

A:UAC-How do I "trust" a program from an unknown publisher?

Hello Jigawatt, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Would that be an "Open File - Security Warning" dialog prompt like below instead of UAC?

If so, then unblocking the file should stop it.

I am burning Win7 to an ISO (using Active ISO)

After the burning process it starts to verify the media

If I were to cancel the operation (while it is verifying), would it ruin the disk (or DVD drive, etc.)?

No, at that point the disc is being read so cancelling shouldn't ruin the disc or the drive.

However, if you were to cancel during the burning process that would render the disc useless.

I have made a setup.exe file to distribute to our customers.
I run it from IE.

After the Run Save Cancel popping up it says "unknown publisher" (see attached image)

How can I assign a publisher to my EXE? I at least want it to say Publisher: MyName rather than unknown.

I guess for that warning to go away I need to purchase a Verisign or something but I hear thats expensive?
I would settle for the warning to at least mention my name !

Hi enricco777

This is another java bug. I don't believe it's been fixed yet though. I have the same thing with one of my add ons. If you are worried, you can write java and see if they have an answer yet. I have not had any security issues with it yet that I know of.

I am using a genuine windows 7 ultimate 64bit on a Fujitsu sh560 and I have recently updated various drivers (a complete list is below) from the Fujitsu website itself. These were intended for my laptop model and have been verified by my computer. I installed them all at once before restarting my system. Upon logging on to my computer, I notice that windows aero doesn't work and neither does my internet, my sound system, and my fingerprint scanner. I can not roll back any drivers, I cannot use recovery, and i cannot start any services without getting an error message of 1068. I then went to task manager and it has a completely depleted list of running processes from my previous startups.

Drivers updated:
Audio driver by realtek
Modem driver by atheros
Chipset driver by Intel
Fujitsu BIOS driver
Fujitsu camera driver
Biometric Device driver by authentec

A:Almost nothing works after several verified updates

Maybe that BIOS update did something bad to machine? Applying BIOS updates is very risky. Also those chipset updates can be dangerous also.

This is error code explanation from Microsoft site:

ERROR_SERVICE_DEPENDENCY_FAIL 1068 (0x42C) The dependency service or group failed to start.

In other site somebody had similar kind of error and it is caused by registry corruption.

Did your computer worked properly before these updates?
If it did you have forgotten old saying: If it is not broken then don't fix it.

Hi -

Be sure that you are using IE 7 x86 and not IE 7 x64.

To check Java out, go to the verification site for Java detection -

If still a NO-GO, perform a system restore using a nrestore point from > 2 days ago when all was well -

winload.exe digital signature cannot be verified error code:0xc0000428
I want to dual boot windows 7 and windows 10.

Win 10 (D drive) where I want to install windows 10.

IN installation process:
"Getting files ready for installation" completes about 25% and then it reboots and shows the error.

http://www.tenforums.com/attachments...windows_10.jpg
In boot option I have
1) Windows setup
2) Windows 7

When I click on option 1(setup), it shows the error and setup cannot from that point progress.

I have no problem booting and running windows 7(option 2).

A:error 0xc0000428 winload.exe cannot be verified

Opps, there is no Disk Mgmnt screen shot attached and .. the screen shot you did attach does not show an error, only the install percent complete. These things happen.

Since you're just beginning, it might be more expedient to start over.
See: Windows 10 - Dual Boot with Windows 7 or Windows 8 - Windows 10 Forums

I would delete the D: partition, leaving it raw/unallocated, and let Windows manage it during the install.
Be careful - only the D partition.

The tutorial should guide you all the way through. Read it and ask questions before you begin - it's easier to answer a question than to fix something or start over

In Windows 10.x, when I create a Microsoft account for a user, he will have to verify it when he will sign-in (login) on the system to enable some functionality.

Is there a way to create a Microsoft account already verified?

Hello Balubeto,

I'm afraid not. When a MSA is created for the first time on a new PC or device, it must be verified for security purposes.

Hi All,

I'm a newbie. Hope you are all keeping well.

More than a month ago I verified my website with McAfee SiteAdvisor and am still waiting for the site to be rated. It is still coloured 'grey'. I contacted McAfee and they told me that they have millions of sites to test and that I should get back to them after 2 months if my website has not been rated by then. It has certainly not been good for my business.

My question is: were all websites only tested after two months or are some sites treated differently? Also, besides having my site verified is there anything else that needs to be in order to get the site rated/tested?

Thanks for your help.

Hello I was having problems with a cracked version of windows and so decided to go blank slate a legit copy of Windows XP from about years ago Please don't comment by calling me a cheapskate for not buying Windows or a pirate for using the cracked version as that's just not interesting This is a computer for a friend I run Linux on my own computer Installing didn't verified files, Protected in and tact Windows work initially and I found out I had to slipstream SATA drivers using a Protected Windows files, verified and in tact tool called nLite I managed to install everything using the ISO file that nLite made including slipstreamed SP Great Everything is running lightning fast compared to only one problem a quot Windows File Protection Files that are required for windows to run properly have been replaced by unknown versions quot error Now the microsoft support page for this suggests it's malware which is highly unlikely since this error ocurred even before connecting the new install to the internet I know that the original disk is completely clean as I bought it from microsoft and I guess I can assume nLite is clean I have installed very few programs and none of them are cracked So it's most likely not malware I inserted the CD as it requested and it trundled through and completed without complaining After restart it complained again I run sfc SCANNOW from command prompt and after fifteen minutes or so of quot please wait while Windows verifies that all protected Windows files are intact and in their original versions quot with my custom XP SP Protected Windows files, verified and in tact disc in the Protected Windows files, verified and in tact drive it finishes without complaining I assume the job is complete If I run sfc SCANNOW again with the CD out of the drive but it says quot Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL cache Insert your XP Professional Service Pack CD now quot Well haven't I already done that I click cancel it asks me if I'm sure I want to skip this file what file it doesn't say I am sure and then it spits the same error at me again I don't know how many of these errors it wants to produce but it's a lot more than and I get tired and just put the CD in the drive What gives Why won't it copy the files over and then stop complaining I have disabled some windows services using services msc to speed it up Stuff like quot terminal services quot which I'm pretty sure the user will never need I don't know if that is relevant Well if you're still reading this and have any advice to offer three cheers to you

A:Protected Windows files, verified and in tact

Go to Start/Run and type eventvwr.msc and press enter
In the Event Viewer System log to see what the file name is, then decide what to do.

The event will look something like this example:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Windows File Protection
Event Category: None
Event ID: 64005
Date: 1/10/2011
Time: 2:41:56 PM
Description:
The protected system file taskmgr.exe was not restored to its original, valid version because the Windows File Protection restoration process was cancelled by user interaction.
When you know what the file is, you can decide what to do about it. There are probably already other copies of the file(s) on your system or you can get the file(s) from another source.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Sounds like you upgraded the install to win-10 and are trying to use the same upgraded install
That is not exactly legal and is in violation of the free upgrade agreement

A more reliable method would of been to use a system image and restore the image to the new ssd.
Still not legal to use both though.

I need some help with a Windows 7 (x64) system where bluetooth and usb devices have suddenly stopped working. When I go into device manager I see that my Intel USB 3.0 extensible host controller and my Intel Wireless Bluetooth show exclamations
on them. They both report that "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device".

This machine has been working fine for a while but suddenly stopped working correctly earlier this week.  So far I have uninstalled recently installed MS patches. I installed the most current version of the drivers from Intel for these devices.
I've also ran sigcheck against both drivers and confirmed that they are signed.

As a work around, I use F8 and boot with driver signing verification turned off but that is certainly not ideal as I have to remember to do so every time the computer is restarted. Anyone have suggestions for a permanent fix?

This is complicated by the fact the computer in question operates in spanish, and i don't know what the corresponding error in english would say. But we can't sign in to a google account on that computer. Firefox, chrome, and i.e. all put up warning screens. The one for firefox says in spanish, 'connexion no esta verificada'. It says you've asked firefox to make a secure connection to www.google.com, but the security of the connection cannot be confirmed. It says someone could be trying to supplant the site, and recommends not continuing.

We are scanning with eset. I tried removing gmail notifier, that didn't help. There is an option in firefox to continue despite the warning, but we chose not to do that. We've gone into the google account normally accessed on that computer and changed it's password.

What's going on here? Any thoughts?
thanks

A:browsers won't access google account, say connection can't be verified

Update - the scan with eset turned up no less than 5 suspicious files, related to a Mexico version of warcraft our nephew plays. However, after deleting those, the problem continued. We uninstalled Eset and installed Avast, and scanned again. That turned up another problem file, which was also deleted. Problem continued. We reinstalled Firefox, that didn't help. Next step is to reinstall XP, we need to do a fair bit of backing up first. But I would like to know what is happening. I'll try to look more for information on this error.

So when I started my laptop this morning I got the error quot A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged error xc quot I hit 'Enter' and it takes me to the screen to select an verified digital & manager loop boot winload.exe not signature OS and the only one available is Windows Home Premium I can either hit F to winload.exe digital signature not verified & boot manager loop supposedly select advanced options or enter to boot Windows There are NO tools listed or boot options listed like there normally is I'm just able to hit 'enter' or F and both of them take me back to that orignal error screen Basically I'm stuck in a loop between those two I tried my Windows recovery CD but it still just takes me to these two screens and I can't get out of it I have searched other forums and threads and there is help for this issue but everyone is able to use their recovery CD and I cannot

A:winload.exe digital signature not verified & boot manager loop

Boot from Windows 7 recovery CD. Then select "command prompt". Where is bootmgr file?

attrib c:\bootmgr
attrib d:\bootmgr
attrib e:\bootmgr

Is it on C,D or E? Assume on E

Code:

attrib -s -h e:\bootmgr
del e:\bootmgr
Now perform a "startup repair"

I want to dual boot windows 7 and windows 10.

I have windows 7 installed on my C drive. (disk manage image attached)

Win 10 (D drive) where I want to install windows 10.

IN installation process:
"Getting files ready for installation" completes about 25% and then it reboots and shows the error.

http://www.tenforums.com/attachments...windows_10.jpg
In boot option I have
1) Windows setup
2) Windows 7

When I click on option 1(setup), it shows the error and setup cannot from that point progress.

I have no problem booting and running windows 7(option 2).

A:winload.exe digital signature cannot be verified error code:0xc0000428

Hmm, maybe the logical partition causes a problem. (You can install on a logical as long as boot files are on primary as far as I know but who knows ).

Is the iso in good shape? Any memory issues?

Personally I'm not liking this. To sum the article up it says that there is no way to perform a clean install with the Windows 7 upgrade disc. You can only perform an upgrade with it and there is no "work around" like in Vista.

There is a a great comemnt that sums up my thoughts "Way to tell everyone this right after the huge preorders for the upgrade version finish."

I guess Microsoft hasn't changed that much after all. I'd rather have them make good products then have good customer service I guess.

http://hothardware.com/News/Rules-fo...ades-Verified/

A:"Rules" for Windows 7 Upgrade Verified

That's just BS. For one thing that article mentions upgrading RC Windows 7 and that will not be possible as it will require a clean install, but the same clean install method available in Vista will work in Windows 7.0.

I have problems with Java, namely, whenever I try to use it, it says "Code Not Verified" and doesn't give me any advice on what to do. I have reinstalled it countless times and used the little program on their site to see if it's registered or whatever and it always is.

Any advice?

A:I couldn't run DSS on this PC

Hi
I see the problem. Its this little beastie...C:\Program Files\Video ActiveX Access\iesplg.dll....Lets see if we can send it to a hotter place.

Please download Combofix from here:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
Or
http://www.techsupportforum.com/sect...s/ComboFix.exe
** Take note that the links are case sensitive **

Save ComboFix to the desktop.

1. Double click on combo.exe & follow the prompts.
2. When finished, it will produce a logfile located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
3. Post the contents of that log in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause your system to stall/hang. Proceed with the rest of the fix if you fail to run combofix

=========================================

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe.Run the application.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Login on your usual account.

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection

The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if your computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Please post:

Hi,
I am trying to install CA root certificate on Windows 7, IE 9.
Encounter error: "Untrusted Certificate".  "This certificate cannot be verified up to a trusted certificate authority."
I have tried to install the certificate to Trusted Root Certificate Authorities->local computer and import was successful. BUT on IE->Internet Options->Certificate->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities, I am unable to find this root CA on
the list.
On mmc->Certificates->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities->certificates, I am able to view this root CA.
I then restarted the IE and view the ssl site again but failed too, "Untrusted Certificate".
Anyone, any idea ?
Regards,
Eye Gee

A:Unable to Install Root CA Certificate - Certificate cannot be verified up to a trusted certificate authority.

May the following workarounds work for you:
Workaround 1:
Modify the Windows settings to allow the Update Root Certificate feature to update the root certificates automatically. For details, see the following Microsoft TechNet article:
Certificate Support and Resulting Internet Communication in Windows Server 2008
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771121(WS.10).aspx
Workaround 2?
If the Update Root Certificate feature cannot automatically update the root certificates, you may contact the website vender to see if there is a hotfix can fix the issue.

whenever i try to uninstall any thing from my comp it gives an error saying that "install.log not found"

please help me!!

A:couldn't uninstall

That means that the Uninstall log in the program file for the program is missing. If you have problems uninstalling programs use the Revo Uninstaller. It will first try the uninstaller and when that fails it will continue to uninstall the rest of the program. Be sure to do the Advanced method to remove the Registry settings as well.

I believe that I have this little issue solved but I'd like some advice to make sure there isn't problem lurking I've been having a problem with Win getting corrupted Making a long story less long I've replaced my SSD see HDD reinstallation after Couldn't SSD with a new one and did a fresh install of Windows After the reinstall I could see the SSD as drive C in File Explorer but couldn't see my HDD which used to be drive D prior Couldn't see HDD after SSD reinstallation to the replacement The USB ports were labeled D E etc To fix this I went into Disk Management and changed the drive letter of the USB drive D to drive I Then I labeled the HDD as Drive D This worked but I got a message from Windows lower right corner asking what to do when the quot removable drive D was loaded quot Couldn't see HDD after SSD reinstallation The HDD obviously isn't a removable drive but it seems to work as it should Have I done the right thing or do I have a problem lurking

A:Couldn't see HDD after SSD reinstallation

My issue seems to be resolved.

I did have a problem with the D: HDD and the more things that I did in attempt to resolve it, the worse it became.

In the end, did another fresh install of Windows in the new SSD and formatted the D: drive in the process. (I had a good backup of the data on my HDD)

Now all seems well.

I'm running Win 7 Pro 64 bit, FF is primary browser. I have a Verizon FIOS network. I've been getting the following message when I boot up:
"The RAS DLL couldn't be loaded. If you don't have a modem installed this is a normal situation. If you use a modem, check that the RASAPI32.DLL is properly installed. Due to this reason, the options related with the modem will not work.
This alert can be disabled in the General Options tab."

I don't have a modem. Could someone tell me what General Options tab this is referring to so I can disable this alert? Thank you.

A:SFC couldn't fix my computer

Hello etsnsm Welcome to the Seven Forums!

The problems you are running into could be from two different sources other then Windows/software related. The first and obvious would be a problem with the new drive while not as likely being new but bad sectors or other defect.

The second to consider would be bad ram! If you have a bad dimm in there that will cause an endless list of problems to appear especially when appearing right after a clean install of the OS. I would suggest a good run of the memtest memory stress tester for several 4-5 hours to see the series of tests repeat over and over again which will point out any critical errors with the memory installed on the system there.

A bad install of Windows from bad ram or simply not a complete install is also a known cause for seeing too many problems right away. Again that could be as a result of a possible defect with the new drive, memory, or even worst case both! Or you may have simply had a bad install where a lens cleaner for the optical drive or handling of the 7 disk left finger marks?

These are the more common places to start.

A:HJT log. Many viruses I couldn't get rid of

Hi MexicanHat, Welcome to TSF

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. Once it's done, you may click the Close button. When asked if you want to logoff, choose Yes.

Download CWShredder at http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CWShredder.sfx.exe and run it. Uncompress the file and run it. Click on 'I Agree' button if you agree with it. Click on 'Fix' (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you) and OK. If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here. Let it finish the scan and then hit Next and Exit.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click 'Kill process' for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check):

C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\WToolsS.exe

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

LimeShop

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):
