I have windows 7 enterprise 64.

Preferred Solution: Unable to click on a link to download anything.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

and also run sfc after a diff browser with same results possibly.

I have server space and routinely put files on there to download..

I can send a direct link that clients can click and the file (usually a video) will open on their computer..

However, they are not always able to right-click to save-target-as or whatever they do on a mac to do the same..

Is there a way I can send HTML code in the email so when they click it, it forces
a prompt to download the file?

A:How do send a "click to download" link?

The easiest way around your problem would be to register the server with a domain name.
Then normal web linking would work.

Whenever Microsoft Automatic Updates come to my computer...it screws up my IE 7 so whenever I click a link that goes to a .pdf file or click an e-mail link on a web page IE starts the process and then completely closes everything. If I reinstall an older version of IE (without tabs) all works fine. And sometimes...if i reinstall the newer version (with tabs) it seems to fix the problem. I also run RegCure to help cleanup. But after the latest auto updates...these cures don't seem to be working. The older version IE6 works fine..it's only with the newer IE & that this happens. Thanks

A:IE7 closes when I click a .pdf link or e-mail link

I don't use IE7, but does it have a Manage Add-ons in the Tools menu?

Check for the Adobe Reader add-on. I assume you have it already installed.

Also, check Adobe and see if there is a version/update for IE7.

It is also not a problem with my mouse as sometimes when I am able to click the desktop but not the taskbar the mouse functions perfectly well on the desktop but shows no response on the taskbar On this note Unable to click/right click desktop or taskbar. when I am not able to click the taskbar I am also unable to click currently open windows I am only able to access those via Alt Tab or any function of the keyboard When I am unable to click the taskbar I am still able to access start and other programs via the keyboard I have searched around the internet and tried out various solutions but none have worked so far except the obvious quot ending explorer exe and restarting it quot which solves the problem temporarily Restarting my computer does not solve anything I have kept my computer extremely clean and I have voided it of any startup programs hence I really do not understand the cause of my current situation I would greatly appreciate any help and thank you in advance nbsp

Twice now, I have clicked on the download button in the App Store (used a link obtained from the Verge article). My screen just jumps to the main App Store screen, and I see no indication that anything is downloading or in progress.

How can I verify that a download is in progress?Do I have 2 downloads going now that I did this twice?

Honestly, I miss the old days before the App store ... download an ISO & read Brink's installation tutorial -- that was it.

Thank you.

I have QuickTime Pro 7.0.4. The first time I click on a hyperlink to view a HD video, nothing happens. The second time I click on the link, QuickTime will launch into the window. The interesting thing is that when QuickTime opens up, it looks like it was loading as the progress bar has moved along, but then it starts over again. It's like the application was running, it just didn't build the Quicktime window.

I know this is a really weird sounding issue, but I thought maybe someone else has run across it and perhaps has an idea. The odd thing is that it worked with just one click when I first loaded the software. It still works, just annoying!

And example of a HD video I would try to view would be this one: http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/thewild/hd/

Usually, but not always, it is because your Innternet Explorer or your main browser does not have all the defaults. Check it by ........

Start > Default Programs > Set Your Default Programs > left side, select your main browser. Does it say " This program has all its defaults " ?
If no, click Choose Defaults for this Program > put checkmark on all entries under the list > click Save when done.

While you are at Set Your Default Programs windows, also make sure your e-mail program is your default program.

I know I must have downloaded some type of malware recently. I was getting popups any time I ran IE (I'm using the most recent IE 7 Beta), so I ran Ad-Aware, Spybot, AVG, etc., and they seemed to take care of the popup problem, but left me with a completely different problem in its place.

Any time I launch IE and then click any link, the browser shuts down automatically. And I've noticed that my computer seems to be running slower than usual - especially when I'm working with any applications (like Outlook) that use a web connection.

I'm grateful for any help anybody can offer to get my system cleaned up. It's driving me nuts.

A:Ie Shuts Down After I Click A Link

Not really enough information here to pinpoint the problem. Could be malware or could be related to the beta version of IE7. It probably would be best to have a deeper look as to what's going on with your system by creating a hijackthis log. This will help us to identify and remove any malware files that may be responsible for your problems. Please read and follow all instructions in the pinned topic titled "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log". When you have done that, post a log in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis Forum, not here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts.Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post the log along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. Please include the top portion of the HijackThis log that lists version information. An expert will analyze your log and reply with instructions advising you what to fix.It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are very busy. Please be patient as they are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have no replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, a team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. If after 5 days you still have received no response, then post a link to your HJT log here. After posting a log you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files on your own, etc.) unless advised by a HJT Team member. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modification you make may complicate the malware removal process and could adversely affect your system.

When surfing the web and I click a link in IE 6.0 it switches pages but then as the page loads it becomes an inactive window.

This isn't really a big problem, but more of a nuisance.

I like to enter as many commands as possible from the keyboard so when I click a link I usually let go of the mouse and use arrow down or page down on the keyboard....but since the page makes itself an inactive one, I have to click it with the mouse to make it active again and then use the keyboard.

Does anyone else have this issue and is there a fix?

Tom

This has happened to me on several websites so I don't think it's an issue with those websites. One of the sites is Freerice.com. It was working perfectly and then one day for no apparent reason, I would click on an answer and nothing would happen. But in other categories of the Freerice game it responds.
Another site I am having the same problem with is wikihow. I was copyediting articles and out of the blue this morning I went to publish the article and - nothing. This is getting really frustrating.

This is a work computer. It's a Dell, Windows 7. I use Chrome. My processor is Intel (R) Core (TM) i7 CPU. 64-bit OS. That's all I can think of to give about my computer. I appreciate your time!

Hi! New here. First must admit how dumb I am when comes to PC with Windows 7 (which I hate BTW! For me best was the one before "Vista" - I think it was "Windows XP"?)!

That said - when using IE8 every single time when I click a link the page opens up in new window but reduced in size and I always have to "maximize" it to view it. It is driving me nuts! I have been told more than once that a window will open the same way that it was closed - not true! Reduced window does not happen when using Mozilla. Must be simple option for me to make a change - but how? Where? Please I need help!

A:How get full window in IE8 when click link

Hello DennisH Welcome to the Seven Forums!

Sorry to hear that! For me XP was a "Blue Screen Special" from all the problems it seems others were having. Vista was far more stable but was growing in size and the minimum system requirements were set too low. Windows 7 on the other hand has been a working champion right out of the box!

As for new IE windows always being minimized that's how IE is regardless of which version going back even before XP and IE 6. One small program solved everything however. The IE New Window Maximizer can be found at: jiiSoft :: IE New Window Maximizer

The one thing to know about this one however is never check off the maximize Outlook or Outlook Express windows or the close button in Outlook will end up off of the screen entirely! That was the one drawback for the free program seen there.

Ran it when first found way back in the XP days, later on Vista, and presently on the 64bit 7.

I just started having this problem last night. When I use a search engine (doesn't matter which one they all do it) and lets say for instance I'm searching for antivirus software. I click on search and a list comes up.....I click on a link and am taken to off the wall websites not even related in any shape or form to what I am searching for. Also I am running AVG Pro antivirus and I keep getting a message that pops up that says I have a trojan horse generic on my computer. I run the virus scan and it comes up clean. I'm not by any means a computer guru but would like to be able to fix this problem myself rather than have to pay a huge computer repair bill.
Any suggesions on what is going on with my pc??

A:Solved: can't double click link

Hi granbjd22
See if this helps:

Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs tab
Click the Reset Web Settings button
Apply, OK, to save and close.

If that doesn't make a difference, see these links:
OLEXP: "Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default

Internet shortcuts in Outlook Express do not start Web browser

You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you click a link

How do I get HTTP hyperlinks in OE to open IE, when I click them?
________________________________________________________________

Open My Computer or Windows Explorer:
Tools > Folder Options > File types tab,
check under each of these file types to see if their settings show the following:
URL:File Transfer Protocol
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" %1
URL:Gopher Protocol
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome
URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome
URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome

Check each Registered File Type:

Click Advanced,
Click on the action: Open,
Click Edit
Look in the: Application used to perform action: window to check your settings.

I am having trouble with my web browser and assumed that I must
have a virus. However, nothing is being picked up in a scan from McAfee. When I google a

1 httpwww.ongetgairhon.comsearch.phpqcue2Bfor2Btreason&n1297913802

At one point I was able to copy and paste the link, but now that will not
work either.
I recently purchased the registry cleaner from them as well as my computer was so slow.
I thought I was pretty safe, guess not!
Can you help???

A:I keep getting redirected when I click on a search link!

Hello and welocme .. A couple questions. What is your operating system??I recently purchased the registry cleaner from them Who is them? You may also want to try to get a refund.Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons: Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable.

The Windows registry is a central repository (database) for storing configuration data, user settings and machine-dependent settings, and options for the operating system. It contains information and settings for all hardware, software, users, and preferences. Whenever a user makes changes to settings, file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in this repository. The registry is a crucial component because it is where Windows "remembers" all this information, how it works together, how Windows boots the system and what files it uses when it does. The registry is also a vulnerable subsystem, in that relatively small changes done incorrectly can render the system inoperable. For a more detailed explanation, read Understanding The Registry.
Not all registry cleaners are created equal. There are a number of them available but they do not all work entirely the same way. Each vendor uses different criteria as to what constitutes a "bad entry". One cleaner may find entries on your system that will not cause problems when removed, another may not find the same entries, and still another may want to remove entries required for a program to work.
Not all registry cleaners create a backup of the registry before making changes. If the changes prevent the system from booting up, then there is no backup available to restore it in order to regain functionality. A backup of the registry is essential BEFORE making any changes to the registry.
Improperly removing registry entries can hamper malware disinfection and make the removal process more difficult if your computer becomes infected. For example, removing malware related registry entries before the infection is properly identified can contribute to system instability and even make the malware undetectable to removal tools.
The usefulness of cleaning the registry is highly overrated and can be dangerous. In most cases, using a cleaner to remove obsolete, invalid, and erroneous entries does not affect system performance but it can result in "unpredictable results". Unless you have a particular problem that requires a registry edit to correct it, I would suggest you leave the registry alone. Using registry cleaning tools unnecessarily or incorrectly could lead to disastrous effects on your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. For routine use, the benefits to your computer are negligible while the potential risks are great.Ed Bott's Webog: Why I don't use registry cleaners Do I need a Registry Cleaner? Now let's get to cleaning you up. Please run these and post back the logs. Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!Be sure to download TDSSKiller.exe (v2.4.0.0) from Kaspersky's website and not TDSSKiller.zip which appears to be an older version 2.3.2.2 of the tool.Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it. To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.Click the Start Scan button.Do not use the computer during the scanIf the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.If malicious objects are found, they will show in th... Hi shahed92 and welcome to the forums!
I'm Sunyata and I will be helping you with your computer problems.

Please read the following guidelines which will help to make cleaning your machine easier:

Please stay with this thread until I tell you your machine appears to be clean. Absence of symptoms does not necessarily mean that all malware is gone.
PLEASE DO NOT install/uninstall any programs unless asked to.
PLEASE DO NOT run any malware scans other than those requested.
Please reply within 3 days. If you do not reply within this period I will post a reminder but topics with no reply in 4 days will be closed!

This is something I really want to know more about. Links given by phising scam and forum spambots are said to either give viruses or display things you wish you haden't seen.

I haven't clicked on the links before, but I imagine that if I did it would either display an unclosable-till-it-finish window containing adult content or my AVG would come up detecting a virus or malware or something.

Has anyone ever had any experiance with this or does anyone know lots about it? I posted this in another forum before, but since this forum specializes in all tech, I feel as if this is where I'll get the best information .

A:What happens if you click on a link given by any kind of spam?

Those links can give you virus or even worse. Never click on them the best solution is to use
alt cntrl delete to bring up task manager and close it that way.

A:new window goes back when i click on the link

Not absolutely sure I understand what you're talking about, but try the following:

Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools > Internet Options > General > Tabs > Settings.

Put a check mark in the "Always switch to new tabs when they are created" box.

when i go to google and type in a search and then try to go to one of the links provided i am redirected to websites that i shouldn't. i did the 8 steps (malwarebytes, superanti spyware and hjt) and it doesn't seem to have helped. it doesn't do it when i use firefox only when i use internet explorer. my computer uses XP for its os. any help would be appreciated.

also this seems to be the only problem, i haven't noticed anything else, all my other programs run fine and if i type in the url i go to the page i want, it is just when i click on a link at a search engine.

After I open 2 sites (2 windows with 2 web sites) I can not open more IE windows/sites by LEFT clicking on links

and LEFT clicking on links changes nothing

In other words LEFT clicking does not work after 2 web sites are opened in two windows

Only if I RIGHT click on a link and then click "Open in New Window" everything is OK

How can I make my LEFT click work normally, as before

Thx.

Hi guys,
I just got an email in my inbox informing me that my aunt shared a link on my facebook wall. Apparently it's a video regarding the execution of Osama Ben Laden? I haven't clicked it yet, because I never know what's safe on there to click around with. has anyone else seen that one, and if so, is it legitimate?

Thanks,
Chromebuster

A:facebook link on my wall, but should I click on it?

No way Jose. You'll get infected. And if that email addy is legit, that person's email has been compromised. She should change her password. If you click on that, your email addy will spam your entire address book.

Using IE8. When I click a link instead of going to the right site it goes to some ad page. But when I go back to that link and click it again IE8 goes to the right site. Frustrating.

I'm using XP with SP3 updated,

I've run SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot, Malwarebytes Pro, and Norton 360 but found no fix, though they do find lots of cookies.

This has been happening for about a week or two. I haven't downloaded anything I can remember to pick this up but then my memory is fickle.

I did the searc with  "AdWcleaner by Xplode and it did find a boodle of stuff I don't recognize.

So, I'm now stuck.

A:PLEASE HELP whenever I click a search link, it redirects me somewhere else

Download ComboFix here :

Link 1
Link 2
* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Here is a guide on how to disable them

Click me
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

How do I tell IE7 to do this? It gets annoying when I click on a link and entire new instance of IE7 opens. I just want the link to open in a new tab. I cannot find the setting for this? Has anyone else found it? Thanks! Here is a test link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.comWhen I click on that link an entire new instance of IE7 opens.

A:Ie7. I Wanna Open A New Tab When I Click On A Link.

A:New homepages open whenever I click a link

Hey...
We jus got the same issue with browsers from last couple of days
in Vista Home IE8.

Steps :
Open IE8
open google.com (google.com loads in current window, 2 new additional blank window opens)
search google - click on any hyperlink from search results - 2 new additional blank windows open

I regiestered all DLLs mentioned in other forums on web, but no luck.

Surprisingly,
I installed Firefox - same issue with firefox too.

Donno if it is IE specific.

Did you try in firefox? its working fine for you?

Thanks,
Satya

My problem is when I right click my mouse the menu now has a link to "hardcore movies". I can't right click on it and delete this, it will only send me to the link where it then wants to connect me to a dialer. It only appears when I'm online. I have checked in progams to unistall, not there, deleted temp. files and cookies, history, and even tried Tracks Eracer pro 3.2 to find and erase. What must I do?

A:Outlook 2007 problem when iu click on a link

Hello,

Which is your Default Browser ?? Open your Internet Explorer and go to Tool | Internet Options | Advance and click on Reset. Then open IE and make sure IE is set as the Default browser. Then try to click the link and see if that works.

Hope this helps,
Captain

I used to open my yahoo mail by a click of the "envelop" icon on my yahoo messenger, then it will open my yahoo email page.

But now it is not responding. So each time I have to go to IE or Mozilla firefox, type in www.yahoo.com, wait for the page to open, click on "email", enter my yahoo ID and pw.... etc

Oh. the inconvinence not just in yahoo, even in my Outlook Express and many others sides. When it says "click here to view more". When I click, no respond.

These links were once attached to Mozilla Firefox browser, because there were virus attached to my firefox broswer, I have uninstalled it via safemode. Now I have reinstalled firefox, but the links are not working.

How do I fix it.

Regards

sher

A:no response when click on URL to open internet URL link

If you click on a hyperlink in a web page and only a blank window appears,

1. Go to Start / Run
2. Then enter regsvr32 urlmon.dll
3. Click Ok when finished
4. If that single change does not resolve the problem, repeat the process by running regsrv32 with the following dll files.

* Shdocvw.dll
* Msjava.dll
* Actxprxy.dll
* Oleaut32.dll
* Mshtml.dll
* Browseui.dll
* Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hyperlinks in messages stop working (Outlook Express )

If clicking a hyperlink in Outlook Express appears to do nothing at all, there are likely one or more registered file associations that are configured incorrectly. To repair the associations:

1. Open My Computer and click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
2. Click the File Types tab.
3. Select URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol in the list of registered file types.
4. Click the Advanced button (Windows XP), or the Edit button (other versions).
5. In the list of Actions, select open and then click the Edit button.
6. The Application used to perform action box should contain this, including quotation marks:
?C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe? -nohome
If instead it contains a short name version of that path, or an incorrect path, change it to the above.
7. Click OK, click OK.
8. Repeat steps 3-7 for the file type URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol with Privacy.
9. Click OK to close the Folder Options window.

My OUtlook is freezing up a lot lately and this is new. Whenever I click on an internet link in the body of an email message - it freezes. If I wait about 3 minutes or more sometimes - it will finally go to explorer and open the link. If I don't wait and decide to just close outlook - I get a "not responding". When I "end program" I get a message from MS that says it is related to WIN Fax Pro.

PLease help this frustrated girl! I don't even know what Winfax Pro is!!

PS - I have Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Pentium 4...anything else you need. I can run Hyjack this if it helps...

A:Solved: Outlook freezes up whenever I click on link

You might have to change the registered file type:

1. Open My Computer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the File Types tab.
3. In the Registered File Types list, click URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol, click Advanced, and then click Edit.
4. In the Actions box, type open.
5. In the Application used to perform action box, find to the location of Internet Explorer (Iexplore.exe), and then click Open.
6. In the Application box, type IExplore and then click OK.

That's assuming you're using Internet Explorer as your browser? If not, search for FireFox or whatever browser you prefer.

Let me know if that helps!

I used to have Windows Optimal Tool, I thought I got rid of it by downloading Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, scanning my computer, and deleting found threats. I then renewed my Norton Security Subscription and thought the whole ordeal was over. I left for a week long trip, came back, and now when I click on a link in any search engine it takes me to some AD. I already check in AppData UserData and looked for some bogus filename like last time but found nothing. Nothing that I have downloaded works. Please help.

I do not have access to a Windows Install Disc.

hi.

welcome to TSF I am Mark and I will help you with your problem.

Seems that you forgot to attach the attach.txt and ARK log. Do you still have it in your desktop?
If YES kindly upload those two.

If none, you need to re-run DDS.scr and attach the attach.txt.
Then to get the ARK log, run GMER. Follow the instruction below.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop. Double click the exe file.
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan.

Click the image to enlarge it

In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ... Sections
IAT/EAT
Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
Show All (don't miss this one)

Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

In your reply, please attach

GMER log
Attach.txt

Mark

A:Click On Any Link And Get A Random Search Engine

Hello,You say that you already fixed some entries in your log including O17 entries..So that's why it is confusing to know with what you are exactly dealing if you start to fix entries yourself..Please perform next..Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exehttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exeSave it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead. Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.

When I clicked a link on a website, it redirected to a spam web page. How was this done, and should I be worried?

A:Click Link, redirects me to spam web page?

You "may" have acquired (likely more than a few) univited guests...They arrive often as part of some software you installed recently, or on occasion via an unsolicied email - which you opened etc...There are on occasion spoof links "out there" set to do just what you experienced too, and one never knows what they may have dropped into your system as a result. Either way...Suggest you download and run each of these utilities; noting carefully the caveat/advisory warning I've included re' how to install them.Should you be "worried" at the redirect? Perhaps not "worried" as such but certainly a little concerned. You have no way of knowing what else may also lurking around too - and the utilities suggested will take care of most of them. Also ensure your anti-virus utilty is up to date too.Utilities to run:ccleaner from:http://filehippo.com/download_cclea...Malwarebytes - freebie version:http://filehippo.com/download_malwa...Adwcleaner:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...Junkware removal tool:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...When you install each utility - do NOT opt for automatic or custom installation. Opt to "manually" install it. Then observe carefully what tick boxes are "ticked/checked" and uncheck them all - apart from the utility itself. You do NOT want to install "useful" browser add-ons, nor change your home page; nor change your search engine and so on. All you want to install is the actual utility itself. Just about every utility these day offers to "give you useful extras" - which you do not need. Decline any and all of them.message edited by trvlr

So my fiancee has a laptop without antivirus on it First no no I know About a week ago she would go to Google or Yahoo and use the search engine and when she found a site she wanted to I to Click Webpage issues.. a I'm Another other and Link, redirected When on go to when she clicked it she was re-directed to another website She already had Malaware whatever it s called where it scans for things and I downloaded Ad-Aware days earlier I also talked to an IT guy at work and said to download CC Cleaner When I Click on a Link, I'm redirected to Another Webpage and other issues.. So Saturday I made it a mission to clean it I did a disk clean up and removed Hibernation files Defragged it Then I ran the CC Cleaner After that I updated the Malaware definitions and ran it No issues Then ran Ad Aware Before scanning I noticed it had over threats so I deleted them Ran Ad Aware and it found threats Deleted them This took several hours I completely shut down the laptop and thought I was done Wrong That night when she turned it on it went to a repair screen and restored itself to a point before the problem so everything I done basically was undone CC Cleaner was taken off and the threats were back Last night it began acting really bad and she couldn t open Malaware So I decided to take another crack at it I cleaned out the Ad Aware threats Downloaded AVG and removed Ad Aware Ran AVG it found a few threats removed them and then restarted the computer It went back to the repair screen and restored itself back to where it was before I did this little exercise I need help I need to know what to do or what to look for to fix this thing And if I have to I m going to spend money and put an antivirus on the computer

Hi RunningFatBoy, to Bleeping Computer. My name is Jason and I'll be helping you with your computer problems. You can call me by my screename jntkwx or Jason is fine. Some things to remember while we are working together.Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!Please do not attach logs or put logs in code boxes (unless explicitly asked to)Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can also help.Do not run anything while running a fix.If you don't understand a step, please ask for clarification before continuing with any future steps.Click on the Watch Topic button and select Immediate Notification and click on proceed, this will help you to get notified faster when I have replied and make the cleaning process faster.Note to others: The instructions here are intended for the person who began this topic. If you need help, please create your own topic in the appropriate forum.  Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.Tem... Read more
