Cookies - Strange Alphanumeric Names ?

Q: Cookies - Strange Alphanumeric Names ?

Hi,

I have just gone to clear out some cookies in the hidden folder and when I got to them I found a load of strange named cookies with names like A3B69KU.txt. I thought that it was all junk so deleted them.

However, when going back to websites with logins that were classed as "Remember Me" I needed to login to them all again, ie, the user login which is normally saved had been lost when I deleted these oddly named cookies.

Normally, all the web site cookies have a reasonably distinctive name that allows identification and so I would not delete it but with these oddly named cookies there is no means of identifying which site they belong to.

Is this something caused by a recent Win7 update or security setting, it's a bitch if I am stuck with this bollox?

Preferred Solution: Cookies - Strange Alphanumeric Names ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In Windows Professional up to a couple months ago the Cookies names located in C Users jvega AppData Roaming Microsoft Windows Cookies Low had explicit names like netflix com www msn com which made it very easy to Cookies names changed have identify and manually delete cookies Then apparently after a MS update these names changed to their current gibberish OVA DB txt MD JKPS txt I verified this change in several other Windows PCs that I use at home Cookies names have changed and work and sure enough they all changed from explicit names to gibberish Cookies names have changed names I imagine this was done in the name of security Now my real issue If I open Windows Explorer and change directory to C Users jvega AppData Roaming Microsoft Windows Cookies Low to see the cookies when I click on the Preview Pane button and select any of the cookies I get in the preview pane the message quot The file you are attempting to preview could harm your computer If you trust the file and the source you received it from open it to view its contents quot Well I would prefer to preview these files instead of opening them because by previewing them in the Windows Explorer I could get back to my being able to manually and easily delete individual cookies If I point Windows Explorer to other directories I am able to preview file contents The blockage seems to be only in C Users jvega AppData Roaming Microsoft Windows Cookies Low So my question is is there a registry edit that would allow me to enable the ability to preview these files Thanks nbsp

Hi,

I've recently put FPS Creator on my External Hard drive, and brought it to a different computer so I could build the game, which simply won't work on my own PC.

However, there is a file that I need to look at to find a script: however, something very odd seems to have happened. All the files have filenames like '5z-{)y.&#9474;dd' and ']o&#9532;&#9619;&#9619;.S'. I don't know which file to open to find the right entity!

Does anybody know how to tackle this? It's happened to all the folders in a folder called 'stuff', and all the files.
If you can help, thanks a lot!

This may be a corrupted $MFT

Go to Run and type CMD to open up a Command Prompt Window. (elevated Command Prompt if using Vista - see http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/181765-elevated-command-prompt.html )

when command prompt window opens type

chkdsk c: /f /v (assuming c is your drive letter) - you will probably have to reboot t complete the check

Since activating DHCP on my Windows 2003 Server, I'm starting to see some really strange names associated with my IP addresses. Even after I delete them, they somehow show up again. I have attached a screen shot of the strange names. I blocked out the valid names for security purposes. Is there something that could be assigning the IP addresses to these unknown machines? And is there a way to avoid this in the future? Thanks in advance.

Hello to all,

I recently got a laptop from my friend that had many issues. I manage to fix most of them, but I noticed that C drives has dozens folders 0 bytes with names like 514e63d2dde1d3bcdf9b. I tried to delete these but no successful. Each time I got error message that I need premssion from SYSTEM to make changes.

How to delete these folders, and what is the cause for their creation?

Thank you!

A:Delete folders with strange names

Just because a folder has zero bytes, doesn't mean it should be deleted. Run Ccleaner cleanup. Anything it doesn't delete, leave alone.

I have Windows 7 64 bit OS. However, under task manager the processes are showing: iexplore.exe*32, itumes.exe*32, etc. I've never seen this before. My computer is running slower, and has frozen a few times since I first saw this. Don't know if this could be causing a problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:Strange Task Manager Process Names

Welcome
Those process were always there, they are used when 64 bit cannot be used.
To test for the slowness, try a clean boot to diagnose.

Here are my solutions to freezing, and an excellent article, which I hope is of some help
Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
Run antivirus scan
Check memory with memtest86
Make sure that you are not over heating.
Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
Try a clean boot
Make sure PSU is working properly
If overclocking, restore to original
Test hard drive at company website.
Test in safe mode, does it still happen?
Try with clean boot..

Hi, I am running Windows XP (home edition, english locale) on my PC and see some strange unprintable (kanji, blank etc. ) characters in the "Image Name" column of the "Processes" tab page of windows task manager.

Windows processes like SVCHOST, LSASS, SERVICES, WINLOGON etc. appear normally. I have tried scanning with latest version of antivirus & anti-spyware applications, but this does not seem to help.

I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

PS: I wanted to attach a screen shot, but don't know how to paste the image to this message

Hello geeks. I have a strange problem or rather a small nuisance with Firefox 3.0.13.

I first noticed this Firefox changed my SevenForums theme. I tried to change it back to my favorite "Seven Blue" theme. Page reloads, but theme does not change. Only theme I can use is SF default.

Now I noticed the same issue with a couple other websites where I want to make cookie based changes. Only way to do that is to clear all cookies always when launching Firefox. For example logging out from SF clears the SF cookies but it is not enough to solve my problem.

About same time my SevenForums gadget stopped refreshing. Now when I want to refresh SF gadget, I have to close and restart.

Even this is not a problem per se, it is annoying. If you have an idea, please let me know.

Kari

Hey guys

I recently bought a 64 GB micro SD card for my phone, a Moto G3. Mounted it, formatted it, it worked fine, then yesterday when I tried to play some of my music and noticed that there were no songs in my library.
The file manager on my phone said that the SD card had "0.00 B" of space left.

After plugging it into my computer I found that all my files were still there, music playable, photos viewable, but the download folder contained the below:

When I tried to delete or rename the files I got this message:

I searched up online and found a supposed fix for it, did this

Now the other folders are like this

And I have no idea what I'm doing so any help would be really appreciated please help

I have a really strange problem here. Running MS Word 2003 on Server 2003. Approx 70 users and 5 admins.

Only a few user accounts and 1 admin account, Word will save the file to a 8 random alphanumeric character file in the same directory the file is being saved too.

The file itself seems to be a perfect duplicate of the original file and is most certainly not a temp file. I have checked Technet (no 2003 forums anymore) and searched the web, but nobody else seems to have had this problem.

Any ideas? Anybody else ever even heard of this behavior?

A:Strange file names being saved by Word 2003 (not temp files)

I do think these are temp files, they are 'rests' of the backups that are made on a timed interval.
I happens that on network drives they are not always removed, why? I don't know.
It doesn't happen on local drives.

This is a strange problem that I'm not sure how to approach. All the browsers on this Windows 7 Pro system, since its install, loads certain websites and videos painfully slow. The problem is resolved, temporarily, if I clear cookies on the browser.

At first I assumed the slow websites were misusing cookies in some way, but my laptop, which is running Win 7 Home, doesn't have this problem on the same websites.

Any idea what this might be?

I'd like the information separated as follows:

Each row has different length names, dates, times etc...

Is this even possible to accomplish with a formula?

I am working on a project alphanumeric - Excel sequencing to make small labels in a sequential order which allows use to print an excess at a time - Basically the numbering system is alphanumeric and the label it self has certain characteristics the numbers may be listed as XXX XXX etc How I originally did it was to add a custom cell format such as quot Label XXX quot general which would allow me to fill in one number and sequence it down through the follow cells using the simple formula A and placing whatever number I wanted it A That allowed me to have what I wanted The problem with this is that it s too complicated for others in the office to figure out and all custome cell formats would have to be changed individually whenever XXX changed Excel - alphanumeric sequencing to YYY or whatever Additionally I added another cell into the label for more information which has worked out fine but I figured everyone likes to know as much as possible So basically A Header unchanged and used on every page I need no help here A Label XXX A and A are one label I want to make XXX the first alphanumeric number A Label AAA A uses custom cell formating as quot Label Excel - alphanumeric sequencing quot so we can change AAA at any time A Label XXX A and A are a second label A would read from A as A XXX A Label AAA A reads from A as A and also uses the same custom cell formating So anyway I didn t know if someone knew a formulla or module I could us for this stuff Please let me know and I really appreciate your help Robert nbsp

Hi I am having trouble figuring out how to add zeros into the middle of a PHP alphanumeric input field. We are developing a php site that would allow us to search by a part number.

The problem is that in our database, the part numbers are formatted as such:
065V0012 or 075H0678 or 085M2345
Which are all formatted as (3 numbers, a letter, and then 4 more numbers).

But we publish our part numbers as a compressed version:
65V12 or 75H678 or 85M2345 respectively.
Without the leading zero and without the middle leading zero(s)

My question is how would we have the ability to type in a search box the compressed version 65V12, and get a database match to the fully formatted part number?

I would be enormously grateful if someone could help me on this one.

A:Add zeros in middle of PHP alphanumeric

It took quite a while to think a way to do this, it's quite a tricky thing to get the head round. I came up with this:
PHP:

$prodID "65V12";

$parts preg_split('/[a-zA-Z]/'$prodID); //split the product id into the first number, and the second number(after the letter)

$letter explode($parts[0], $prodID); //split up the id using the first number, to leave the letter and the second number

$letter $letter[1][0]; //get the first character, i.e the letter we want

$parts[0] = str_pad($parts[0], 3"0"STR_PAD_LEFT); //pad the first number to a lnegth of 3, padding extra spaces with a zero, and pad from the left

i downloaded uniblue but it only repaired 14 errors (trial version), would love to repair the other 100 , and also every time i let the little ones use the PC they watch videos and a bunch of other noise and then i end up with a bunch of cookies of all makes and models..... i raise the security level on cookies in the internet options and then they complain that they cant watch videos or get in other sites, whats up with that ?

A:Registry Needs Repair / Cookies Cookies And More Cookies

Unless you know what you're doing I would stay away from the registry. Cleaning your registry is unlikely to improve your computer's performance in any noticeable way and you run the risk of really screwing up the operating system.

Hi

I'm using Excel 2003 to enter data for clients.
Column A has the case references (manually typed in) and these are alphanumeric e.g.

Ref
COFW1/20
COFW10/7
COFW2/77
COFW1/89
COFW11/3
COFW2/200

When I sort them a to z the COFW10/7 and COFW11/3 come before COFW2/77 and COFW2/200.

Is there any way of getting Excel to put it in the order COFW1...COFW2...COFW10...COFW11?
The cells are not formatted as text or number.

Thanks in advance.

Hey all, I hope someone out there can help me.

I've got an Excel spreadsheet I have to create every day at work. One of the columns contains a date code that is seven alphanumeric characters. All of the alpha characters have to be capital. This is the only column that contains capital letters.

Is there an easy way to get Excel to force one column to capitalize every alpha character in the column? As things stand now I have to hit the caps lock key when I get to that column and then hit it again to turn it off for the next column. I've looked through Excel help and haven't found anything that works for me.

I've been playing and working on PC's for a long time but I'm new to Excel.

TIA,
Joe

Could someone explain what all the folders being created under Users are? I have 4 or 5 that look like 0bd5182be71af.... and contain rafts of folders 1025,1028,1029 etc etc. I can't see into these folders as cannot get permission. I cannot delete the folders as it says I need permission form SYSTEM. If I try to give SYSTEM permission in the security setting of the folder it says access denied.

I have some folders on this laptop always available offline on my main pc so don't know if that is related. I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

Thanks

Mike

A:Wierd alphanumeric folders being created

Those are most likely from Windows updates. They don't always get deleted if something goes wrong.

It won't hurt to leave them there - but if you must remove them, you need to assign yourself as owner. Be sure to tell Windows to copy that ownership to all of the sub folders.

Hello,

I've been having a problem where my mice (I've tried several) don't click (left or right) when I'm holding an alphanumeric key down. For example, I'm playing a video game where I need to move (w,a,s,d) and click at the same time, but am unable to.

I am able to click while holding down shift or click.
I didn't have this problem Windows XP so I'm thinking it's windows 7 based issue...

Has anybody experience this problem and knows how to fix it?

Also, how would I go about updating the mouse drivers?
I downloaded a zip file from dynex for my DX-WMSE (model) mouse.

A:Mouse not clicking when alphanumeric key is held

Welcome to Seven Forums.
Has this always happened with Win7 and in all games you play or specific ones only? You probably don't need a mouse driver since Windows has one. Only special functions, if needed are enabled with a mouse specific driver, ie, turn lights/logo off/on, etc. the mouse should function normally.

That said, go to the Dynex site to see if they have new drivers, unless that is what the zip file is.

Welcome to our forum BattleMage.

I don't know what caused your problem but the first thing I would try if it was my computer is a Restore Point before this problem happened.

Because you leave your computer on I suggest that you unplug your keyboard or just turn it over so the cat can't press buttons.

Hi David,
You can go to View/Tools/Pages. On the right, select the Header & Footer dropdown and choose Add Header & Footer. In the Center Footer text box (assuming that's where you want it), type A-<<1>> and click OK. That should add the pages in the format you want. Hope that helps.

I would like to create a alphanumeric number(with year & month) on one worksheet. When I duplicate this worksheet, the alphanumeric number will go to the next number. Currently, I have to input the alphabet and running number in worksheet1. Thereafter, I will use "CONCATENATE" in worksheet2 to link all together. Subsequently, for worksheet3, I will copy & paste the formula and link to the next running number. Refer to the following illustrations.

Worksheet1
A B C
1) ABC 2012 0001
2) REF 12 0002
3) CS1 0003

Worksheet 2
=CONCATENATE(a1,"-",a2,"-",a3,"-",b1,b2,c1) result: ABC-REF-CS1-2012120001
Worksheet 3
=CONCATENATE(a1,"-",a2,"-",a3,"-",b1,b2,c2) result: ABC-REF-CS1-2012120002

Is there a way for me to have this alphanumeric running number automatically for many worksheets and I can change the alphabet if required?

Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me out. I am building my first DB in Access 2007 and was curious about the Primary Key. I work for a company with multiple locations across the US and wanted to created a DB that tracks all employee numbers.

I've set the Primary Key to the Employee ID which is unique with each user, but may not be unique by location. Each location also has a unique letter desigation. I plan on having a separate DB for each location that will export to a master DB. We have a large network with occasional problems and from what I've been told it's better to have multiple DB's that link up to a master DB.

So, is there a way to automatically append the locations alpha designation either to the prefix or suffix of the Employee ID? For example, 2000; AA2000; 2000AA.

A:Solved: Access 2007 Can the Primary Key be Alphanumeric?

Steve060431, welcome to the Forum.
Yes the simplest way to do this is to use some VBA code in the 2 field's After Update Event Procedure.
The code would look like this
if not isnull(me.[employeeid]) and not isnull([Location]) then
me.[PrimaryKey] = me.[Location] & me.[employeeid]
end if

The first line of code just ensures that there is actually something in the 2 fields before combining them.
You of course need to use your real field names for the employeeid, Location and PrimaryKey to make it work.
This will pick up both new entries and edits of the 2 fields.

I am not sure about having separate databases with a Master database as synchronising the Master may cause you some headaches.

Try the programs below to see if they can find what is causing this.

Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the
Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of toolbars....especially Google.
After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Scan button.
When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message
Download Emsisoft Emergency Kit and save it to your desktop. Double click on EmsisoftEmergencyKit.exe to extract its contents and create a shortcut on the desktop. Leave all settings as they are and click  Accept & Extract. A folder named EEK will be created in the root of the drive (usually c:\). .
After extraction an Emsisoft Emergency Kit window will open. Under "Run Directly:" click Emergency Kit Scanner.
When asked to run an online update, click Yes.
When the update is finished, click the Back to Security Status link in the left corner. On the main screen click the Scan Now button.
Select the malware scan option and click the SCAN button.
When the scan is finished click the Quarantine selected objects button. Note, this option is only available if malicious objects were detected during the scan.
Click the View Report button and in the Reports window double-click on the most recent log. Note, logs are named as follows: a2scan_<date>-<time>.txt.
Copy/paste the report contents in your next reply.

A:Excel - function to sort multiple columns of alphanumeric data

You could easily enter in this formula:
=IF(LEN(B1)=3,LEFT(B1,1)&"0"&RIGHT(B1,2),B1)
(where the three data columns are just A, B, and C) so that you get - instead of U6B, for instance - U06B. This allows you to sort correctly by age.
If you want it copied and sorted to another page like that, you really need a macro/VBA.

A:Multiple symptoms including alphanumeric keys on keyboard not working

Hello SpecialKlady,

I'm Stan and I will be helping you for this problem.

First of all I want to clear some things about the malware removal process:
Do not run any tools on your own. This may affect the process of removal and may cause both slowdown and additional problems.
Read carefully the steps that I suggest you to do. Any mismatch will prolong this case.
Copy any scripts carefully so they stay exactly the same with the original. Otherwise the script may not work and we will need to rerun/recreate it.
Feel free to copy all the steps in offline environment. They may be easier to read and follow in this way.
Feel free to ask any questions about the malware removal process. I'm here to help you so nothing must be hidden or misunderstood.
Share with me any problems/changes you experience while working with the current system.
Please, do not use any quotes or code boxes when you post logs.
I want to inform you that I will be able to respond in the evenings - 07:00 P.M - 11:00 P.M. (UTC + 02:00) - since I'm working during most of the daytime. If I haven't posted anything for 48 hours straight, please, feel free to send me a personal message. I will bump the topic if there is no response from you for 3 days. After 5 days of inactivity, the topic will be closed.

I want to inform you that I'm still in my training program so my posts must be reviewed by an instructor. This may lead to a slight delay in my answers.

********************

Thank you for the provided info that gives me quite good overview of the current situation. First of all, I want to ask you couple of questions:
Are those popups still present or they have been removed after you run some of the tools mentioned?
Can you run programs in normal mode without any problems or you are experiencing difficulties when trying?
Can you access Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking? More information on how you can access those can be found here.
Please, follow step 6 from the Preparation Guide to generate logs from Farbar Recovery Scan Tool. If you are unable to do that in normal mode, please, try to follow the steps under Safe Mode, if accessible. When ready, please, post the content of the logs in your next reply.

I noticed recently that my system and other folder names have changed on their own! What the -h- happened? I have never seen anything like this before. These folders appear on all of my drives c:, d:, g: and they are random. It looks like they are of another language, maybe? Actually, the wording makes no sense at all...> It looks like most of these folders previously existed.

Things I have done: Ran Anti-V program + Ewido Suite = No viruses, trojans, malware, etc. Ran three adware programs (ad-aware, spywareblaster, spyware doctor) = Clear. Checked all running processes and startup tab in mscofig = no peculiar programs detected. Ran regseeker = Phenominal amount of invalid keys, etc. (3,000+) very unusual to the norm!!!

Hi all,

Is there a way to completely delete all kind of cookies stored on the machine, including super cookies and any other kind of them?
If not, can reinstalling the OS (Windows 7) with formatting the C: drive, remove all of them?

Thanks.

That is pretty extreme just to clear cookies.

I can't vouch for all browsers, but IE and Opera can be setup to clear cookies every time you exit the browser. Opera allows you to manage cookies, so that only newer cookies are deleted.

On a personal note:
Once I noticed how many cookies were loaded just by logging into Techspot, I said the hell with trying to manage cookies. There was just to many of them, after viewing so few pages. It made finding cookies, you might want to keep very difficult.

Is it possible to sort a folder's contents with both File names and Sub-Folder names intermixed?
I have projects in sub-folders, and 'support' files like this:

projabc (sub-folder)
projabc.txt (file)
projabc.bat (file)

amongst other projects.
I would like all the 'projabc...' items to appear together.

Thanks.

A:File Explorer Sort File names With Sub-Folder names

I don't know of a way to get Windows Explorer to do it. But XPlorer2 is supposed to have that sorting mode.
Edit: scroll down to "Folders sorted" in the table.

Edit2: Here's a Tutorial how to disable auto-arrange in W8:

hi

i am trying to copy some files from a windows 2000 pc to a novell 3.11 server, but when the file names are longer than 8 char i cant copy it.....how can i configure windows 2000 to convert those long files name in to short files names.

when i do it manualy it prompt me to automaticaly convert the names, but the problem is that i am copying the files using a batch and the batch just dont copy the files

Thanks

A:Convert long files names into short files names

It is generally not a good idea to truncate long filenames to 8x3 unless you have no other alternative. Perhaps you know that already, I apologize if I assume too much.

If you are certain that it is required to be in 8.3 format by the server, you can use a 16 bit copying program rather than the default Windows copy command. The Windows command detects the 32 bit environment and automatically uses a 32 bit copy procedure that preserves long filenames.

I would recommend using xxcopy16, which is a free utility. It comes as a component of a two part package, the other component being xxcopy. xxcopy is 32 bit, xxcopy16 is 16 bit. You get what you ask for when running those commands and the windows environment will not dictate selection.

The command line with xxcopy16 would be:

xxcopy16 <source> <destination> /yy /WV0

(That's a zero at the end and the command is case sensitive.)

XXCOPY

I need to convert codes such as 9QY1011 to an entirely numeric code.

I would like A = 01 ... Z = 26.

This would mean that the example code (9QY1011) would become

917251011

Where Q has become 17 and Y is now 25.

I would like this to happen automatically so that when I type the original code in a cell, the cell below it will display the altered code.

Please help!

1. Copies the cell
2. Pastes the contents below the cell
3. Finds letters, replaces with numbers (this will be, I assume, 26 Finds/Replaces)

Hi.

I got very strange problem, and knowing how many times when I had problems, I was searching posts here, I decided this time to ask for help..it seems I am simply not up for serious problem I am having.

It's about sound. First, I have sound for music player and youtube on laptop, and then in one moment, it is gone.
When I click on volume, I get msg ''There is no active mixer devices...'' (with sound).
When I try run - services.msc, I am getting message ''mmc.exe unable to locate component'' and then strangest thing:

''This application failed to start because o??GL .dll. file was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem'' After letter ''L'' in msg I am getting there is graphic image of square (geometrical figure).

Can anybody help me, please?

Thx, in advance.

Sounds like you have a virus. Please click on the link for Virus/Trojan Help in my signature and post there for more help. You can also try going to Start/Run and type SFC /scannow and press enter. Put the XP CD in and it will replace any missing files from the CD.

Hi, First we need to see the log made with Hijackthis, just follow the directions>

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.

By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Open a TechSupportGuy forum Reply window for this thread, to have ready to paste the Hijackthis log into. Click once to place the typing cursor in the reply window.
At the top of your TSG/browser window, hit Edit then Paste
You should see your copied Hijackthis log appear in the reply space....then, submit the reply
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Can you post what you mean by "I'm having the same problem..." tell us exactly what you are having problems with, what you see, what the symptoms are, please.

Question:

What is significant about the name of a processor?

I ask because I've just upgraded my PC from a Pentium I 200 mhz processor to a Pentium Celeron 366 Mhz processor.

I've always wondered about the names of these processors and what exactly are different in each case, like Pentium I,II,III,IV even though they might have the same clock speed.

Can anyone shed any light on my curiosity?

The file name it wants is the name of the flv file (guess youtube downloads) , which you want to convert to mp3 .

Usually such programs have a browse button ... through which you are to navigate to the file which is sought to be converted . Browse to the location , select the flv, the filename will be automatically taken .

For some better help, provide the download link here , so that we may try the program and guide you the steps with screenshots .

Hi, When emailing people using Outlook 2007, only a few names drop down when I type the letter 'B' or 'A' into the email box (some of which I have only emailed once or twice), though the people who I am emailing far more frequently, their names do not pop down on the scroll-down list... How do I make it so whoever I email (or whoever I want) will show on the drop down list. Thanks!(Moderator edit: added Topic Description. jgweed)

A:Drop Down Names

To turn on automatic completion of e-mail addresses

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. Click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail Options.
3. Under When sending a message, check the Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields check box.

This should store the names, and make them available.

I have two external drives connected to my pc. One for media (mp3's, avi, mpegs, etc), and the other for documents. If I'm downloading say an mp3, it is directed to the correct drive. To save energy (and because the drives get warm if left on), my wife bought one of those extension cables with numerous sockets, which can each be individually switched off. This is causing me problems with the drive letters. If I don't switch them on in the right order, or I have a usb stick plugged in, they get assigned a different letter. Is there a way of assigning a permenant letter, even when they're switched off?

I have 3 different users set up.

My question concerns the names etc.

So I have one user called abc, which I see at the logon section where you would choose which user you wanted to go under.

However, in other places like when you go into Computer and c:\users I don't see that name abc listed, but it appears as "main".

Any ideas on why this is ?

If you change a name, it remains the same in many places.

Under Windows NT I am attempting to change the share name of several drives to correspond with those required by video editing software (Video01, etc.). I change the name in the "properties" section under sharing, share name, but when I reboot or go back to that drive the name is "E$", etc. Edit* is the software and it requires the video drives and audio drives to have specific names. Even removed the share names and sharing completely but when I reboot we're back to square "E$". Thanks in advance for your help!

Only user of computer so I am Local Account Administrator. Do I just create another account to set my account to Standard?

Can I use same names for the Standard and Administrator accounts?

A:Names of accounts

Hello lowdown,

You would want to always have one administrator account enabled on the PC. Otherwise, you will not be able to do anything that requires being an administrator or elevated rights.

User accounts cannot have the same name, they must be different.

You could create another administrator account, sign in to it, change your account to be a standard user, then sign out of the new account.

On a peer-to-peer network what can make each PC fail to recognize other PCs using the network names of the PCs but successfully recognize other PCs using IP addresses Here are the details I have a peer-to-peer home network using a cable modem attached to a router which is attached to PCs wb-hp running Windows XP with an IP address of new running Windows XP with an IP address of and nec running Windows service pack with an IP address of All PCs have no not addresses but IP names others' PCs see their trouble getting to the Internet for browsing email etc In PCs see others' IP addresses but not their names the past when I m lucky I ve been able to go into My Network Places from any of the computers and see the workgroup name WORKGROUP and open WORKGROUP to see the three computer names on the network However more frequently and at present when I try opening WORKGROUP I see this message WORKGROUP is not accessible You might not have permission to use this resource Sometimes I can see the list of the PCs but when I try to open one I get a similar message about that PC I get similar messages when I try to type a PC name and shared folder directly into the address bar for example wb-pc share I have tried running the Network Setup Wizard on each PC and changing the workgroup name However each PC can see the other PCs and their shared folders if I use the IP address in place of the PC name for example share But I m usually PCs see others' IP addresses but not their names required to enter and user name and password to do this And I can use PING from any PC to successfully see any other PC Related question Where do I go to say guests do not need PCs see others' IP addresses but not their names to enter a user name and password to see shared folders Thanks in advance Wendell Brown nbsp

A:PCs see others' IP addresses but not their names

Checklist for networking Windows Machines with TCP/IP
-----------------------------------------------------
- PCs which are not XP must have TCP/IP installed.
- Each PC must have a unique computer name.
- Each PC must have a network share defined.
- ALL NICS must be on the same subnet (e.g. IP 192.168.0.* subnet mask 255.255.255.0).
- XP PCs must have Netbios over TCP/IP enabled (only essential for XP to talk to W9X PCs).
- MS Client and file & printer sharing must be enabled on each machine.
- All NICs must have their node type = anything except p-node (peer to peer, or point-point).
* To check, open a command prompt and type IPCONFIG /ALL.
- XP's ICF firewall is permanently disabled. (Only necessary for pre XP SP2).
- All 3rd party firewalls are disabled, uninstalled and deleted (until connection is working).
- PCs have the same workgroup (helps, but not essential for XP/2K, necessary for 9X/ME).

Allow 15 mins after rebooting a PC for that PC to appear in the workgroup, or
for it to see all other PCs. Or you can search for the PC by its computer name.
Additional things to check if you still have problems:
-----------------------------------------------------
- Check your Services are Started on all PCs: Workstation, Server, TCP/IP Netbios helper, Computer Browser.
- XP gives access to its shares via the Net Guest Account. (Note, not the same as the local guest account in user accounts which should be off). Net Guest Account is enabled by default in XP, but to check it, open a command prompt and type: NET USER GUEST
Should return a line with 'Account active yes'.
Check XP Security policies:
--------------------------
- Access this computer from the network: add guest
- Deny logon locally: remove guest
- Network access:Sharing and security model... -> Guest only
- Deny access to this computer from the network-> check Guest is not here.

I can't see my file names in Thumbnails view in My Documents folder, although I can see the thumbnail and the name in other folders.I know I can just switch to Tiles and Icons (etc.) view, but I like to see my pictures before I open them, since I can't remember the names for them. I don't mind not seeing the names for my pictures, but it can be very frustrating to find a folder that I'm looking for in the same view (Thumbnails) without a name showing underneath, because they all look the same.I have to put my mouse over them or switch to other views every time I want to open a particular folder in My Documents.I don't know when or how they disappeared, but can somebody help me fix this?

I do make a lot of money with the hosting that I am selling but then you would be hiring less tech support. Discuess what your opinions are about this I am very curious.
