Preferred Solution: firefox 5 freeze

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Might be only one tab causing the problem

mouse clicks in the frame just produce a beep sound, no function at all within the browser frame. no change even after uninstalling, & installing fresh download of updated version 5.0. Only does this on one desktop, don't have the same problem with laptop. not sure if two other new things are related: a) IE only recently started opening up when the computer boots up, but is not in the list of programs in msconfig start tab. hp solution center interface started to get stuck loading, status bar gets only 3/4 way across. These may be unrelated, but someone suggested that all 3 might be due to some kind of malware. wonder if anyone can help.Edit: Moved topic from Web Browsing/Email and Other Internet Applications to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

combofix is for advanced users only
recommend an expert before using combofix as it is known to cause problems

Performing a XP reinstall wont wipe out your progs and settings.

reinstalling Firefox may help

Hey everybody!
I'm having an issue with the Firefox browser on a computer running Windows ME. The dreaded ibm00001.exe was recently removed from the computer, so I know it's not a malware issue (thank you Mr JAk3!! )

Anyways, sometimes Firefox just decides to lock up for about 30 seconds. It's getting really annoying. Any suggestions?

If Flash is uninstalled then no probs.

hi, i am having a problem and it is quite annoying...

my firefox keeps freezing/hanging at completely random times. It can be at the beginning of a session, the middle or the end, it can happen when i have 1 tab open or multiple tabs open.
the only way out is ctrl-alt-delete and ending FF that way.

I have run antivirus/malware, etc programs and the problem continues.
I have run firefox in safemode and the problem persists, i have re-installed FF and it still happens.

I am at a loss.

I run XP home and will provide more info as requested....plz help

A:firefox freeze/hang

Hi Jeff_M,

When you reinstalled FF, did you reinstall the same version or a different version? Did you try it without any plugins? Is it freezing not only randomly with respect to time, but also with respect to which websites are open?

Try going into tools / options and click on Advanced and then Updates. Are any of the update notifications checked? If so, uncheck them and see if this does anything.

Can anyone help me?

What you're looking for will be in one of the following categories:

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust, RFI, outright borkedness...)

So, check the drivers
Then check the inside of the case (temperature, voltage, dust, etc).
Then run some hardware stress tests

Quote:
Try this free video stress test: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
Try this free stress test: Free Software - GIMPS

Quote:
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight you may want to run the "Small FFTs" test instead.
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.

Then try replacing parts.
Then look up the versions of your BIOS to see what changes were done.

Do i have to add the flash player plugin to the active sandbox somehow ?

I can reliably produce a BSOD freeze (no BS) where all keys and functions are inactive by running Firefox 6 (or 5) for some length of time (varies, but usually not over a few minutes). I have enclosed the other materials in case it is not really FF doing this:

This is a Toshiba Satellite L675D w an AMD Phenom II N640 Dual Core 2.90 GHz CPU

Also, you seem to have a problem with a PnP device. Is there any exclamation mark in the Devices screen?

I have just built a new tower, and all of a sudden whenever I go to google images, the page takes forever to load, and then just freezes up.

Any clues suggestions? I am using firefox v3.6 and IE 7

Title explains the problem. I tried everything! I checked task manager to make sure PC usage isn't too high. I reinstalled flash player. I have this problem frequently and sometimes it fixes by itself but now it's back again. I have this problem on flash programs and websites. Youtube for example I can't figure out. The video preview on the homepage plays with no problem but if I click a video it will display the page and start loading the video and the whole browser freezes. I did some searching and found several others that have the problem but really no solution other than re-downloading flash, clear cookies and cache, etc. but I still have no luck.

Edit: I'm running Windows 7 also.

Hi

On multiple Websites (with Flash content)-Youtube being the main one by far, I tend to get Flash 10 error windows frequently. The box will pop up and I will dismiss maybe 2 or 3 boxes before another pops up and the browser is now frozen-just the browser. At this point I can either use task manager to end the browser, or wait a while and have the box go away, and, for example, a Youtube video say Flash crashed, yet the browser is still frozen at this point.

I'd like to somehow stop these errors so I can skim the net smoothly without Flash butting in, but Google returned no results-or similar problems for that matter.

Thanks

Hello folks Trying to cooperate with the community I've discovered a bug with Youtube and Flash where for some reason if Flash activates your HTML videos specially p fps start to lag and freeze taking up to of your CPU The issue comes because this videos are supposed to take your GPU and accelerate from there dividing HD/60fps this! in videos freeze Your Read lag or Firefox? the tasks for the CPU and GPU To check this I've looked into AIDA and GPU-Z discovering that in fact when this happens Firefox and the HTML player of Youtube take all your CPU and nothing of your GPU whereas when working takes to of load in your GPU while reducing the load of your CPU by Your HD/60fps videos lag or freeze in Firefox? Recently web browsing with Mozilla Firefox would cause seemingly random full system freezes These freezes occur only on specific sites but not consistently on every occasion of visiting said sites For instance wikipedia is one such troublesome site that gives me freezes I visit one of the pages en wikipedia org wiki Mantis and halfway through the loading of the page contents my system totally freezes up the cursor does not respond ctrl alt del doesnt causes freeze Browsing system with full Firefox work and the hard disk LED does not flash After a hard reboot I reopen Firefox again restoring my previous session and reloading that specific page This time round everything works out fine and I'm able to browse that page without any problems From that page however I click on a link to another wikipedia article en wikipedia org wiki Browsing with Firefox causes full system freeze Cricket and again my system freezes up halfway through loading and the only solution is a hard reboot again This does not seem to be an issue when I use Internet Explorer My Firefox version is and I am running on Windows XP Home edition Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hello, I've been having problems with Google Chrome's freezes for quite a while now.
They are random, first you see that your browser doesn't respond anymore, but then neither does the PC.
You wait up to 3 minutes, and everything works out. But that's not really ideal.

So, in order to see what was wrong with my problem, I thought that I should get Mozilla Firefox.

But as I have seen, that does not change anything

Please help!

Hello everyone I have an issue that has been plaguing me for about a month causing computer FireFox freeze complete or so at this point Whenever I'm using FireFox which is my FireFox causing complete computer freeze main browser and the one I have been using on this computer since I bought it back in October sometimes the entire computer will lock up Now this means that I cannot alt ctrl del can't move the mouse can't do anything It fully locks This could last for just a few seconds and everything goes back to normal or - and this is the killer - it stays that way and I am forced to hold down the power button on the tower to shut it off If the freeze happens once during my browsing and it's a short one that disappears quickly then when I try to shut down the computer normally it will not shut down As in I see the quot Shutting Down quot screen the monitor goes black and the light turns orange for standby mode but the computer DOES NOT shut down I wonder what this freeze is doing to affect the shutdown process like that So to test things out to verify exactly what is causing the freeze well the computer never froze unless Firefox was active I have played Path of Exile for about hours over the course of three days without one single crash freeze or error of any kind So I don't think it's a graphics issue And yes I've tried uninstalling FF completely even going so far as to go to RegEdit after a full uninstall to delete any leftover Mozilla files I also tried installing the beta version of FF something still froze on me I only have two add-ons extensions for FF Download Helper and AdBlock Plus Even with one or both of these removed the freeze still happens And to absolutely cover all bases I used nothing but Internet Explorer for four solid days with it being up for at least - hours per day if not longer Not one single hiccup freeze or issue of any kind So in short it is absolutely Firefox that is the root problem here This problem arose completely out of nowhere and it's quite frustrating FireFox is my main browser of choice and I would hate to have to discontinue its use in favor of Internet Explorer I've tried Chrome really didn't gel with me I am reaching out to you guys I hope you can guide me to a solution I'm completely at a loss as to what the problem could be Thanks in advance -Mike

It is probably one of the add-ons causing that. Delete the add-ons and see what happens. Then you can carefully reintroduce them one by one. Maybe you find the culprit.

Hey all Of late I have noticed that my Firefox keeps hanging on me quite often Initially I thought it was a virus problem and got it checked out But the experts at the malware section confirmed that it was not an infection and we deduce that it is a problem isolated to Firefox and I was told to ask for help here I am running the latest version of Ff with the following add-ons Adblock Plus DivX Plus Web Player HTML lt Video gt Download Helper ERail Plugin for Firefox rev Evernote Web Clipper Firefox OS Simulator Garmin Communicator Ghostery HTTPS-Everywhere Pocket Skip Screen I notice that it usually freezes up when I have more than - tabs open which is weird because I've had more than tabs open without any issues before My computer runs on an i Quad core processor with GB of DDR RAM GB GDDR Graphics Card and a computer constantly to hanging freeze causes and my Firefox GB RPM HDD A few times I killed the FlashPlayer exe process via Windows Task Manager and Firefox constantly hanging and causes my computer to freeze I notice that almost always Firefox starts to work normally again but that does not solve the problem permanently and I realise that I shouldn't have to go around killing processes unnecessarily I know Ff is an unusually heavy browser but this is way past the point of breaking for me EDIT I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox just yesterday but the issue still remains Please help me ThePrambler

Have you tried running Firefox using a clean new profile or with all the addons and plugins disabled?

In your other thread you say the computer has been feeling slow since you upgraded to a high-end gaming graphics card. Did you make sure your PSU is going to be strong enough to handle the upgrade before installing the card? Post back with the temperatures and voltages from BIOS.

A:Firefox Freeze, Force Minimize, and Restore

All 3 systems with this issue?I have noticed that Firefox 45.0.1 lately for 2 systems that I use most have had where I go to launch the browser after it was closed by myself or the result of being closed out by the shutdown of system, and when launching Firefox the next time it gives me a message suggesting the browser crashed and wasnt gracefully closed. I simply have ignored it and the browser works fine. The options given for me are to restore the prior session or start fresh and I start fresh. It is random and not every time the browser is opened and closed. I havent kept track of how many tabs I have open but it is usually less than 4.Systems I have had this problem on:Athlon II x4 620 2600Mhz, 4GB RAM, 3 Hard Drives ( 750GB, 300GB, 164.7GB ), GeForce 730 GT 2GB Video Card, Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium SP1Intel Atom 1.66Ghz, 2GB RAM, 40GB SSD, Integrated Intel GPU as part of the Atom APU, Windows XP Home SP3 patched to end of XPBoth systems use AdBlock Plus and both systems not every time but i'd say it feels like 50% of the time show that Firefox didnt gracefully close and it offers to restore the prior session.Maybe others will have this issue and they will perform a bug fix and bring it to 45.0.2.Have you disabled AdBlock Plus and seen if that corrects it?I havent tried to figure it out myself as for its not that much of a problem for me. When the browser is running its flawless, its just the initial start of it after a shutdown or when starting browser again.

Hi I am a new member and not that literate when it comes to my computer. I use the trial and error method but I have a problem that will not go away.
My computer freezes a lot, no prior warning and no particular time. It is so frustrating to be working on something and zap....I have to reboot and lose all my work.
You have to give me step by step if you are willing to help me but I am a quick learner. One question, does having or not having a video card enter the equation?
Thanks,
Karen

A:U 32 Bit SP1: Long Boot, Freeze on Firefox, Thunderbird, Word etc.

BACK UP ANY IMPORTANT DATA RIGHT NOW.

Then check your harddisk. Don't bother with chkdsk - download the appropriate tool for your drive from its manufacturer's website (Seagate, Western Digital, etc.) and run a full diagnostic with it.

(If you don't know what harddisk you have, look in Control Panel -> Device Manager and expand the Disk Drives tree.)

Hi there :D
So,here's the deal:After about 2,3 weeks running firefox 5 smoothly,no probs at all,me very happy...now all of a sudden it's freezing all the time.also shut down 2 times.
First time it happened, I had many tabs open so I thought "oh,well,ok".But later I found that no matter what, the issue continues. For example, opening firefox, loading google alone, and doing some search already makes it freeze.
It freezes every single time!Weird thing is that it wasn't doing all this >insert bad word here< before.
I've disabled all new extensions, all plugins, tried some different settings...all that,as an average user,I could come up with.
So,wtf?please,help!

thank you

Using -bit Windows Pro with an automatically updated Firefox currently version Start up Firefox and nothing Check Process Explorer and see Firefox is there Try to start up TCPview and nothing Decide to go back to Process Explorer and kill off Firefox - before I get that far - SHAZAAM - TCPview Latest Firefox slow/freeze versions system whole couple starts Firefox responds with browser window - all as it should be This has been the behavior for awhile now admittedly intermittently but none-the-less a relatively new bad behavior And the REAL problem is hinted at by that TCPview issue up above - Firefox is freezing the whole Latest couple Firefox versions slow/freeze whole system system solid after a moment or two Latest couple Firefox versions slow/freeze whole system Process Explorer can be run within that moment and displays dynamic results windows can be switched to but new processes minimal testing apparently cannot be started in a timely manner There are other complaints around the 'Net noting this type of behavior So anyone know the reason for such powerful failure this should slow Firefox itself not the entire system

A:Latest couple Firefox versions slow/freeze whole system

Quick followup - this may be an Avast problem, not a Firefox problem, based off of searching for symptoms on the 'Net.

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I'll be addressing you by your username, if you'd like me to address you by something else, please let me know!I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
If I instruct you to download a specific tool in which you already have, please delete the copy that you have and re-download the tool. The reason I ask you to do this is because these tools are updated fairly regularly.
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)

Because of this, you must reply within 3 days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed! I like chocolate chip cookies.Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system or even taking your computer into a repair shop.

Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data and have means of backing up your data available.____________________________________________________Running AdwCleanerPlease download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.Click on Search.A logfile will automatically open after the scan has finished. Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply. You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[R1].txt as well.NEXT:OTL Custom ScanWe need to run an OTL Custom ScanPlease download OTL from one of the following mirrors:This is THE MirrorMirrorSave it to your desktop.Double click on the icon on your desktop.Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.Copy and Paste the following code into the textbox.

A:Virus scanners disabled-porgrams will not open up, Firefox,IE both freeze at start up

Hello acalora,

Please uninstall your copy of Malwarebytes.

Download a new version from Here

Change the name of mbam.exe to mbam.com

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Next

Download OTL to your desktop.
Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
Under the Standard Registry box change it to All.
Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.

So when you return please post
MBAM log
the two OTL logs - OTL.txt and Extras.txt
Note: Unless otherwise instructed always post the logs in the forum. If reports don't fit on one post. It might be necessary to break the logs up to get them on the forum. Just use as many posts as you need, that's fine.

Lebon14,

You may find "Malware.Trace" is not quite as innocent as you think.
Suggest you do some searches via Malwarebytes Forum & Google.

I would like to continue using Windows XP and I was recommended to install the Time Freeze or Deep Freeze software program. Can anybody tell me what the difference is between Time Freeze and Deep Freeze software being that Time Freeze is free and Deep Freeze is $ 45.00/year. The Pro's and Con's for each would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

I am having an intermitant problem with my IDE drives setup.

Now and then, my computer will start freezing and unfreezing (stuttering) as it attempts to find both my DVD and my CD Rom drive. I checked out the event log and the following error is present:

Source: Cdrom
Category: None
EventID: 15
Description: The device, \Device\CdRom0, is not ready for access yet.

It also does this for device\cdRom1 too...i.e. both of my IDE drives.

If I happen to be reading from these drives when the stuttering starts, page faults are recorded (presumably because it was reading from the drives at the time).

I assumed this was a cabling issue, BUT a reboot solves the problem...

It is getting more regular and I wonder if it is a failing DMA controller...

This is a brand new motherboard so hopefully that is not the case, I would be interested in your views...

A:Freeze...unfreeze...freeze CD ROM Drive issue

What is your computer brand and model, and what optical drive setup do you have? How old are the optical drives. If they have heavy use, they may only last six months to a year... and if they are on a low end Dell, HP, Compaq, eMachine, or Sony, they simply do not last that long some times.
If you are good with a philips screwdriver, you can buy a replacement for $20 to $29 at Wal-Mart, BestBuy, Circuit City, or others to test. and replace.

A:Switch User Freeze and Favorites Freeze

If anyome here has any idea about either of these problems, that would be great. I am thinking about taking AVG off and putting in some other good anti-virus program, we will see. I have posted around on a few different support forums (including Microsoft, as well as talking with Dell), and not one place could help me. Is this a rare occurance?
Thanks

First time:
All we had done was changing the anti virus program in to avast! and installing all Windows updates. When my brother started Windows Media Player, it hanged during the first time setup, ie the computer was working and working but never finished. After some time, the mouse pointer froze and then moved sporadically, in big chunks at a time. He left the computer like this for a while, until he decided to try to reboot. After he had hit the reboot button in the start menu using the keyboard, a "Waiting for a program to close" screen was shown. It waited for taskeng.exe. After he had waited for a while, he hit the "force shut down" button. Then the computer froze at the "Windows is being shut down" screen for about half an hour, until a BSOD was shown. (I hope you understand what I mean with all the text in quotes, I translated those from Swedish - it might not say exactly so in English versions of Windows.)

Second time:
Since last time, we had installed a few programs, and removed a few. We weren't doing anything on the computer (a program was open, though, but there was no work in progress) for the moment, when suddenly them mouse pointer started to behave like the first time. Then everything proceeded just like last time.

The BSODs said:
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
*** STOP: 0x0000009F (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA8009623060, 0xFFFFF80000B9C3D8)

Basic system spec of his computer:
Windows 7 Home Premium
- x64
- It IS the original installed OS on the system.
- OEM
- The computer was bought a week ago.
- The OS has NOT been re-installed.

I've attached the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 folder, but unfortunately I can't attach the perfmon html file, since an error occurred when I ran it. See the attached image. Here is an English translation of it:
Error:
An error occurred when the report was to be created.
The waiting time for the report creator to start has run out.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

No DMP files included in the upload, please try this method.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Description:

if a program i run is freezing, the whole computer freezes to the point where i can't input anything except Alt-Control-Delete but if i chose "Task Manager" it does not open on the front, but i can see it on the taskbar, i can even see the vista sidebar ticking but i cannot contol anything that happens.

it only happens when a program enters an infinite loop (or becoming idle any other way)...
when i program, and my program freezes, i have to restart the computer (sometimes clicking log-off on the Alt-Control-Delete works, but sometimes it doesn't)
since i like to program, i can't restart the computer every time my program freezes, and it is a huge hassle to restart the pc every time my computer freezes

i already tried fixing the registry with tuneup registry scanner and i thought about system restore but it turns out i don't have any system restore points

Hello! Welcome to BleepingComputer Forums!
My name is Georgi and and I will be helping you with your computer problems.
Before we begin, please note the following:
I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
The logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me.
Stay with the topic until I tell you that your system is clean. Missing symptoms does not mean that everything is okay.
Instructions that I give are for your system only!
Please do not run any tools until requested ! The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.
Please perform all steps in the order received. If you can't understand something don't hesitate to ask.
Again I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so. I will not help you if you do not follow my instructions.

Please download the latest version of Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. Don't kill any malicious processes at your own.Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Make sure that Addition.txt is checked before you press the Scan button.
Press Scan button.
It will make 2 logs (FRST.txt and Addition.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste them to your reply.

Regards,
Georgi

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems.
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Please do not PM me directly for help. If you have any questions, post them in this topic.
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.____________________________________________________Rootkit UnHooker (RkU)Please download Rootkit Unhooker from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.Link 1 (.exe file)Link 2 (zipped file)Link 3 (.rar file)In order to use this tool if you downloaded from either of the second two links, you will need to extract the RKUnhookerLE.exe file using a program capable of extracing ZIP and RAR compressed files. Firefox has been freezing up on me, and when I close it down, I get a bluescreen error. It also happens a lot of the time when I close Firefox down normally. This was happening before I updated to the latest version of FF. I am running Windows XP, and have recently started using ZoneAlarm and Avast on my system.

A:Firefox closes = bluescreen error? (Moved for the mozilla/Firefox Forum)

Hi,

Can you give us the error in full that you are getting. Also, I would check and make sure that ZoneAlarm and Avast are allowing FF to connect to the internet.

Cheers!

A:Firefox text blurs, Windows updates won't update, firefox restarts my pc.etc

If it does come to reloading the system you can borrow a copy of Vista from friend, unfortunately MS does not supply any ISO's on Digital River.  One very important thing you must use the same version of Vista, also look over the computers box for Microsoft COA sticker with the serial number on it you must have that.  Get the info ahead of time, right my computer it will show your version. It is possible that you may not have to go through that if the machine has a recovery partition, you would need to look on the makers site.

Now all that being said I feel you do in fact have a bug and need some help from the guys up here!

A:Firefox crashing (plugin container for firefox has stopped working)

Go to Index page ? mozillaZine Forums ; on the right-side of the screen, in the search box for Boards, enter "plugin container crashes" (without the quotation marks) and read some of the threads, which may lead you to the solution.

My quick look at a few of those threads indicated that hardware acceleration may be the culprit; if you need help with that, do another search for that subject.

There was an amusing incident on mozillaZine recently concerning hardware acceleration: One person posted a vituperative message blaming the moderators for frequently suggesting turning off hardware acceleration on the grounds that doing that had never helped a single person.

The very next thread I read was from a person thanking the moderators: He had been told to try turning off hardware acceleration, he did so, and his problem was solved.

Well when i get on firefox and IE7 its comes up saying firefox.exe incounters problems we need to close this, same with IE7 i cannot get on any site to i got browse the net, and also it happens to a pinball game, in the games on all programs.

When i just click on the Pinball game, it open then closes.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
I am not sure if this is Malware or a threat to the computer, but maybe you guys here may know if it is or not.

Cheers,
Samuel3.

Had a number of abrupt computer shutdowns due to power outage and now Firefox won't open no matter what I do. I'm trying to recover all my bookmarks before I reinstall Firefox. So, after identifying which file it is (I think) I'm trying to get a look inside so I can record everything.

Thanks! I'm all ears!

A:How do I open a Firefox bookmarks file (.json) without using Firefox?

Your bookmarks and other preferences are stored in a separate and independent location/file on your disk, so you should be able to delete and reinstall Ff without needing to do a special save for them. See if the information linked to below does not, however, answer your question:http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing%20up%20and%20restoring%20bookmarks

I'm using mac OS 10.5. I am trying to reinstall a clean version of firefox which is not a problem but I can't figure out how to get my old bookmarks back in. The browser has a function to import bookmarks from Safari, Internet Explorer and Opera but not previous bookmarks from firefox. I've tried to replace the bookmarks.html file in the application support folder, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to doe this?

A:reinstalling firefox and importing previous firefox bookmarks

I don't know the differences between firefox for windows and mac, but in windows you would click on bookmarks - then click on organize bookmarks, you can import your html file there.

I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

Hi,
I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

Firefox and security certificates (3 web pages).

Secure data transmission on the internet relies on encryption and security certificates. Mozilla has revised the way Firefox 3 handles certificates, but not always for the better. A few modifications will sort things out and give you more security.

I was having problems with too high physical memory usage(highest was 73%) causing my PC to respond slower even during winexplore. I started uninstalling unnecessary programs and disabling unnecessary processes, when I noticed that plugin-container.exe is taking up 23,xxx KB memory while firefox takes up 400,xxxKB. Is this normal? Is there any way I can tone Firefox down to further lessen my PC's physical memory usage? As of now, it's down to 36%.

I usually run either Fraps, Skyrim, or Azureus Vuze while using Firefox. Current active plugins for Firefox are:
Quicktime plugin
Java Platform
Java Deployment toolkit
Shockwave Flash

A month ago I installed a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi SB 1240 external sound card but uninstalled it five minutes later because it was screwing up any media I tried to play, on or offline. I already have an RME Babyface sound interface to play and record with. But since I uninstalled the Creative, my PC does this freeze-start-freeze-start routine once every hour. It does it about five times lasting four seconds or so altogether. Then is back to normal until an hour later...

It occurs on the minute of the hour I boot up. So if I boot up at 9:17 am, it does it at 10:17, then 11:17 and so on...

How can I stop this? it's getting annoying and worrysome. Thanks

A:firefox thinks firefox homepage is not safe

About that part where you google things and everything appears to be harmful, it is part of the google search engine now. I am also having it.

It can't be disabled and the only way is to copy and paste the link directly into the URL of the browser for now
