I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Slow Page Loading with Firefox

Try disabling no script. That may be eating up all your resources and slowing down the loading of webpages. If that doesnt work, try another browser like Chrome. I would try completely clean installing windows rather than repairing it since just repairing will not clear anything such as viruses off of the PC. Malware could be another culprit and clean installation will allow you to wipe it out.

I can't connect to MSN, AIM,nor can I open the launchers for some MMOs I play (though I can get into them if I launch the .exe file). I can connect to Steam and talk to people but I can't use the browser aspect of it. Firefox says it's a proxy issue, but I'm not too software savvy and don't really know what to do with this. It seems to be anything browser-related. I haven't installed anything new and I ran a few scans for viruses, malware, etc, and did a few other things I usually do to remedy connection issues (disabling firewall, power cycling modem/router, etc) to no avail. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I yesterday finally broke down and installed FF 3.51. Prior to this I had been using FF 2.0020.

I have configured the browser to open and run in privacy mode. Now the questions;

Is this "privacy mode" the equivalent of using a program such as "Anonymizer"?

I'm experiencing longer download times, and a situation where, with respect to Jpeg photo files, the image displays in the browser window, but the download is only the gif "placeholder". As a consequence, the image page must be reloaded and then re-downloaded.

Is this the result of privacy mode?

A:A Quick Question About Firefox "Privacy Mode"

I have recently installed Firefox 3.51 (from V3) as well, and you're right, it is slow...
As I see it, it has nothing to do with the privacy mode, because I toggled between the 2 and there was no difference.
"Anonymizer" is something I am not familiar with, but it basically does not leave any tracks, your history is constantly erased. You'll notice that when 'privacy mode' is enabled, everything in regards to your browsing history is dimmed. I actually prefer the privacy mode off, keep my history for 2 days, and keep cookies until I close...

IE, Firefox and Opera are Browsers and also known as Client/User Agents.

Suggest you empty the cache on each browser, and quit.

I recently heard about FireFox portable, and I decided to try it. I loved the idea of notleaving files on the computer you're using. Great. I downloaded it, and installed the various add-ons and such to make it exactly like the version I have on my computer. One issue, though. It seems that the add-ons are being saved on the computer tather than the USB drive I have Portable installed on.

Basically, I am asking if there's a way to get those files I have downloaded and amdownloading onto my USB, while still having them work with FireFox Portable? (I think the issue is that the program is telling the files to go to the computer, as that's where FF looks)

A:Firefox and IE. Page can`t be displayed.

First thing is to make sure his ISP is not having problems. Then make sure all his connections are correct. ( The LAN cable didn't get disconnected at the back of the PC.) Is it dial-up or cable? Is the modem working and turned on, are all the lights on?

Open the control panel and double click the Network Connections icon. Is the NIC card enabled? double click it and select properties. Make sureTCP/IP is checked. Now click on TCP/IP so it goes blue and click properties. Make sure it's set to Obtain IP adress automatically.

I use IE on my windows 7 PC, but once in a while I will use Firefox because in IE my Gmail account will no longer allow me to drag & drop images into my email. They keep telling me that IE is out of date and needs to be updated, But it is updated.
after using the IE Browser all day, before I shut down for the night I run 'Super Anti Spyware' and it on average will have to clean 1 to 3 adware / tracking cookies / spyware.
But if I use Firefox for 10 minutes and then run Super Anti Spyware the results have shown up to 56 adware / tracking cookies / spyware items to be cleaned.
Why would that be so? Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

It's possible that some or all of the add-ons you installed were not compatible with the latest version of Firefox.
Or it's possible to start Firefox in safe mode with no add-ons.

I would think some smart computer geek (and I use that term as an accolade) could
come up with a Firefox Add-On that could automatically, or selectively as desired,
be embedded in or attached to emails irregardless of browser that would be activated
upon opening and send notification to the sender that it has been opened.

If legal constraints require, it could maybe ask for permission to send notification,
but that kind of nullifies lots of the reasons for something like that in the first place.

ok, so everytime i open firefox (except for the first time) i get a pop up that its already open. i have to go into the task manager to turn it off, depending on how long i was using it previously the computer usage will be anywhere from 20,000 K to 180,000 K. This is a minor anoyance but i would like to fix it. I used to have this happen randomly and it caused me no problem, now its everytime. Although it is an improvment from when i would get the BSOD once or twice a week to once every other day. So does someone have a fix for me? firefox just isn't closing right i guess

A:Firefox problem

While awaiting answers here, I?d advise you to also try the Firefox Support Forum which is specialized on problems with this browser.

As regards my suggestions, you stand a good chance of success if you backup your bookmarks and re-install Firefox. The less add-ons, extensions and toolbars you install with it, the better as regards stability, security and speed. So use the minimum required and get them from the Firefox site itself, as they can be malicious. And install them one at a time, waiting to see if any trouble appears.

If you don?t want to re-install, try disabling all said add-ons, extensions and toolbars to see if it solves the problem. If it does, re-enable them one at a time to find the culprit.

Furthermore, if Firefox is frozen for some reason, then it should be closed from the Task Manager, otherwise it doesn?t close properly and on restarting it will give the message you mention.

Last but not least, the Task Manager is not a good indicator of memory usage, as it shows what?s reserved for it, not what is actually used by it. To reduce this figure, minimize and re-maximize Firefox.

OK. Here's a tidbit I just discovered and learned about Firefox (in general) and the FF Java Console addon (in particular) I thought i'd share

When you look at your Firefox addon extensions (Tools->Addons) under Windows 7 or Vista you may find (see image below)

When you update your Java, old versions of the FF Java Console addons weren?t uninstalled from FF (note I have 2 old versions of Java Console in example below)
The Uninstall button for the FF addon is dimmed! (so you can?t uninstall it!)

Turns out the solution is simple

Close all your FF windows
Now start FF again using rt click to Run as administrator
> Rt click Start->All Programs->Mozzilla Firefox, select Run as administrator
The Uninstall button for the addon should now work!

Please Help. I was just attacked by Anti virus Soft rouge anti virus. I just downloaded AVG free trial and locked all the infected files in the virus vault. My Internet explorer won't work, so i downloaded Google chrome, which did not work. I uninstalled Google chrome. Google Chrome failed due to error 102 or something like that. I then checked Steam and it could not update due to the inability to connect to the internet.
The only internet browser that works is Mozilla Firefox. Please give me some help.
I don't want to send my computer into a shop because of the costs. Thanks for reading.

A:Only Internet connection is with Firefox, after virus

Start with; document your TCP settings thus:
get a command prompt and enter
ipconfig /all >myTCP.txtthen follow-up and attach that file (it's in %userprofile% )

and verify you can ping using an ip address as well as ping by domainname

if you can ping, then the TCP settings are good and it's a problem with the browser settings.

I was doing some organizing (I don't know why, but I don't have "organize" in my bookmarks menu?) and moved one main folder into another folder by mistake, now can't move it back out into the main bookmarks menu.
Have done a search and nothing I can find will work.

This can't be that difficult!

A:Firefox, Yahoo: How to move bookmarks folder out of another folder?

Organize favorites is for IE. For Firefox you can restore your bookmarks by clicking on Bookmarks in the Menu Bar, click Show All Bookmarks, click the Import and Backup button, click Restore, click Choose File and then navigate to and select the .json file that was moved. Firefox will place a copy of the .json file (which are your bookmarks) back to the default folder. If you want, you can select a recent backup copy from the drop down list instead of choose file. That would save you a few clicks.

After restoring your bookmarks you can delete the accidentally moved file.

Hi, for about 2/3 months now, every time I close the Firefox browser, by the time I reopen it, I'll have been logged out of every site I had once been "remembered" by.

I installed the latest version of Firefox today... Still no change.

Any help?

A:Firefox doesn't remember me anymore

With the Firefox browser open select
< Tools
< Options
< Privacy Tab
Then go to the box that says "Clear History when Firefox closes" and uncheck it. Then go through all the other choices eg.Remember my Browsing History for at Least ? number of Days ? or from the pull down menu beside the headline "Firefox will: never remember history " and set to your requirements.
hope this helps

It seems some time ago (maybe Netscape? dont' remember) I was able to import a whole folder of bookmarks with one Import.

I just looked into Firefox and Import and it looks like that only works one at a time - that would take forever.

I've never had this happen before, but just recently, I'm noticing that certain buttons in my firefox don't work unless I click them rapidly at least ten times. This includes anything on my tab bar other than the actual tabs, like the New Tab button, the Flashblock button, the Close Other Tabs button, the Greasemonkey button, and the Refresh button. It also happens with the address bar and the downloads dialog buttons (open, save as).

I'll click on them and they won't work, and I'll need to rapidly spam the mouse button ten to fifteen times before they'll actually work. I considered this might be an issue with my mouse hardware, but the mouse works fine on all other things I use it for. It's only on these firefox buttons that it doesn't work on consistently.

Any ideas?

For example if I have used Rocketdock to open Yahoo, which is setup to use Firefox by default, it will work. However, if I then attempt to use any other Firefox assigned icon or the icon on my desktop all I get is a brief flash of the hourglass and then nothing.
I do not, however, have any problems opening up multiple tabs in that one open Firefox window.

I have run Registry Booster, CCleaner etc and I have also re-installed Firefox but without any luck.

I wanted to give firefox a fair chance but looks like I will have to go back to a previous restore point.

A:Firefox problems

I use firefox for like 1 and a half years now, and never head any problems like these.

i suggest you just uninstall windows and try if it helps

seriously, it sometimes happens that a firefox profile or session are not really clean and screw things up. Try creating a clean profile, it often helped me. you just have to copy the old bookmarks file and it's ok

A:3 Firefox problems !

I think you need to scan for malware. Dl AVG 7.5 (anit-virus) and AVG Anit-spyware. Both are free. After they scan and disinfect your machine un-install FF and reinstall it.

So I ve confirmed that it s not just my computer that has issues with quicktime playback in vista If you have vista firefox adblock plus extension quicktime then you likely will not be able to play embedded quicktime videos either crash browser or get illegal operations If you disable the adblock plus in the quot add ons quot it works fine Now I m not sure if the problem is with the quicktime plugin or the adblock plus For now I ve disabled adblock plus and installed adblock instead not as good but at least it blocks the evil intellitxt with some configuration Just thought I d share what I found since I believe this is a common problem If you want some quicktime to test your playback go to apple com getamac and view some quicktime videos I m not sure if this combination always causes this issue but it did Vista+Firefox+Adblock Quicktime Playback Video Problem: No Confirmed Plus+Quicktime= on a new install of vista as well as on my machine I know xp works fine when using ff adblock plus to play quicktime Any comments welcome to further discuss the cause or if you are having the same problem nbsp

I forget exactly the name of the add on I originally started using it to do as the name implies - to clear Private Data when I close the internet connection Edit - not sure if it s an add on or where it comes from Just tried turning it off can t even do that BUT every time I close the internet connection a window opens where I Question Clear on Add Private Data - Firefox have to click a box to perform the operation Getting awfully tired of having to stop and do that before I can do anything else Is there a way to set the things you want to close and then it ll do it automatically without that aggravating Firefox Add on - Clear Private Data Question window nd Edit Did a Search found a tip site that shows how Go to Tools Options Privacy then you can select what you want to clear and Firefox Add on - Clear Private Data Question whether or not you want to be asked every time you close FF Why can t Windoze programs be more intuitive to operate Everything s gotta be a friggin mystery unless you already know the entire path to scroll thru windows to finally get to what you want to do Oughta be called Circles cuz that s what it always does - runs a person in circles when you re trying to figure something out AFAIC this pretty much sums it up http www snopes com humor jokes autos asp Thx nbsp

A:Firefox Add on - Clear Private Data Question

Go to Tools > Options > Privacy Tab. Look for the box that says "Always Clear Private Data before closing Firefox" if it's checked uncheck the box. Or if you want to clear your private data and just don't want it to prompt you, leave the box checked and uncheck the box says that says "Ask me before clearing private data" And what your having isn't a Window problems, it's just a feature in firefox.

So I'm trying to do some website stuff for someone here, and apparently my browsers hate

More specifically, Internet Explorer and Firefox both crash when I try and use godaddy's java FTP client.

I click the link to launch it and the browser just closes. (Not gracefully, it's as if I killed the process...)

Anyone know what this is about? I've been trying to get some answers but the only thing I've come up with are people saying "disable the silverlight plugin in Firefox", but there's nothing of the sort installed in my Firefox, and this wouldn't be relevant to IE crashing.

I tried it on my other computer and Internet Explorer worked just fine, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

A:Internet Explorer and Firefox crash when using

Well, I got it to work... not in the nicest, cleanest way, but the quick, brute-force way. :haha:
I just ripped out everything Java in the system, and then installed the latest versions.

I noticed in the Firefox (Ver3.6.16) Bookmark menu that most of them have a color "icon" next to them with the website logo etc. How does Firefox get this icon to display?

I have a club website and I would like our logo to display as described above in the bookmarks menu. Right now I don't get ANY icon for my club website bookmark. Not even a blank paper icon.

But how does Firefox do this? Where and how does it get this "icon" off the website? Is there some special HTML code that I have to include?

What's the secrete to the bookmark "Icon"?

A:Firefox bookmark icon question.

This may be what you need.

XP Home sp3, latest Firefox, Yahoo, using "New Yahoo email"
PC Tools Firewall Plus, router w/firewall, Avira AV

I finally gave in and updated to the new Firefox just a couple weeks ago.
Everything was working fine using the above applications before the switch.

Now I have found that when I receive and email with an attachment and try
to forward that, the attachment won't be included in the forwarded email.

I can't find anything in Yahoo email menus, or it's Help section, about this other
than it says that attachments will be automatically forwarded.

I don't know if it's Yahoo email or the new version of FF that's causing the

Getting aggravating and frustrating to have to download the attachment(s),
then reattach with the forwarded email.

Thanks for any help!

try using IE to access yahoo-email; it that works, then it's FF, else it's yahoo

This particular site now does not display/load properly in both browsers that I use.

I frequently visit this site and use FireFox as my default, but the site also does not load properly in IE also. What caused this?? All other web sites in my bookmark are fine.

How do you fix this? I Googled for 'broken' web page and various other attempts but unable to find a solution.

See attached snapshot of a selected screen.

A:A web site does not display normally in Firefox and IE

I use firefox, and occasionally have a similar problem with some sites. Solution has been to make sure fox is regularly updated, along with all plugins & extensions. Also, take a look at the info in your error-console (tools menu) when you visit imdb. It might tell you more about the problem.

I recently upgraded Firefox to v3.5.1. I also just noticed saved userid/passwords weren't being filled in. I checked FF Tools->Options to check my saved passwords (like i've done many, many times in the past) and it is now blank. Everything has been deleted!

So this post is part warning and part question. Anyone else see this happen as well?

Seems a quick Google search showed someone else posting same problem. So be warned before upgrading!

A:Yikes! Firefox v3.5.1 deletes saved passwords?

I would do some experimenting between data such as saved passwords and the privacy settings. There may be some conflict with these settings

When "private" browsing is set, and also, "warn me when I try to close multiple tabs", is checked. sometimes it gives the warning, and sometimes not. Which is usually a big head rush when it unceremoniously closes 50 or so tabs on you.

I know this isn't directly addressed to your post, but just my 2 cents regarding this version. It seems a bit buggy, (perhaps slow), and more than a little eccentric.

I'm still rather fond of version 2.0.

anyone can help me on that how to get it back? because it's gone, all my bookmarks are gone, alot of important sites i kept for study etc any hope getting it back?

A:I downloaded Firefox 2 and all my bookmarks dissapeared??!!!??

Click start/search/all files and folders and type bookmarks. Click search.

You should see a list of all your bookmarks, the firefox bookmarks will have a little firefox logo on them.

Locate the latest file with a date next to it. Right click on the file and select copy, paste the file to wherever you want. Close the search window.

Open Firefox and click on bookmarks/organize bookmarks. Click file/import and check the from file button and click next. Browse to where you pasted the bookmarks file and click open. You should now have your bookmarks back.

Firefox, every week or so, loses all my bookmarks and toolbar bookmarks. They're just gone, no error messages or anything. This is very frustrating and annoying, since I often have information I need in my bookmarks, and I keep links to my commonly used URLs (email, banking, etc) in my toolbar. Has anyone else run into this?

I look after a couple of web sites, and occasionaly add mp3 audio tracks.
IE works fine, Opera works fine but Firefox tells me I need add ons, which it can't find. Although I search for addons manualy, and install them, firefox still can't find them. Why can't Firefox just have these as part of the package, as the other browsers do?

A:Firefox addon problems

post a url to test
most embedded sound files should play without plugins in firefox
I found a site that played mp3 fine
I have flash and shock plugins
I use quicktime alt never added as plugin works fine
check version of firefox I use

Why can't Firefox just have these as part of the package, as the other browsers do?Click to expand...

so user can set it up they way they want
and it's free the one's you mention have a cost
mp3's and other embedded stuff can carry spyware
even bad script can lock up a browser
by far as for me the best browser is firefox

Went to look for an add-on to download flash, however a "window poped open labeled; "Publix Fox Authentication", which requested a password. What is this, and how do I get rid of it? I have discovered that I can not change or get to just about any other setting either.

A:Firefox-Publix Fox asking for a password.

Could the be "Publix Fax Authentication"? In either case, "Publix" is the name of a grocery chain. In the first case with "Fox", the Fox news is indicated. In the second case with "Fax", an authentication is required to send a fax.

There has been a case of counterfeit coupons being circulated on the Internet- Publix was one of the chains hit. You message smacks of phishing since it wants a password. I suggest you switch over to the Security forum and go through the malware cleaning process. You will get excellent help there.

I have been using Firefox for a couple of years, and now using the latest version,
I started to notice that none of the links change color after I have visited them. This is very annoying, especially when doing Google searches.

I have tried changing the properties in options, but nothing makes any difference.

Should I uninstall (completely) and re-install?

A:Firefox doesn't change color of visited links

The current version is but it`s just a security update,

not a link color change bug fix update.

I don`t have the link problem, but I have lost my mouse over tooltips.

Make sure your history hasn`t been disabled.Tools/Options/Privacy

Try Firefox (Safe Mode) It`s in your All programs menu.

To uninstall completely you must first save your bookmarks,

uninstall from Add/Remove,then delete your profile folder.
