I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Make sure that you're not using proxy on that browsers.

Here's a simple solution: Download Mozilla Firefox. IMHO, the only reason to keep IE around is for Windows Update.

A:To everyone getting pop-ups while browsing

I very much agree with JRSellers. Firefox is the furture. dont be sucked in MS and their system of bundeling softwear. those batsards put netscape out of business! But now from netscape emerges the next thing. FIREFOX! get it, do it DO IT NOW!

I'm using Cicsco VPN client 3.6.4. I'd like to be able to browse the network I'm attaching to. As it is, I launch the vpn and then have to use the "Run" function that gets me to one server only. I would, for instance, like to be able to call up the print network.

Can this be done?

thanks,

Just wandering if anyone here uses IE9 for day to day browsing? I've been trying to use it to surf around the web for about a week now and so far, it's been pretty good. Pages almost load up immediately (the ads load fast too ). Been watching videos on YouTube and it's fast.

The only downside I've had so far is that after logging onto Google Wave, I just get a blank screen, nothing appears. Other than that, I feel it would be easy to convert someone to an IE9 user the way things are looking. Anyone else here tried using IE9 for daily browsing?

Posting this from IE9,

A:Anyone here using IE9 for day to day browsing?

It might work, but the userinterface is unusable for me at this point. Soon they will release another build and hopefully that one will contain a UI.

Would you please let me know how I should configure my Internet Explorer so that

1. when I click on an URL or link, the new page doesn't replace the existing page but opens in a new window.

2. While the internet explorer is open on any particular page, if I minimise it and double click on the IE icon on the desktop, another seperate homepage opens.

Thanks

A:Browsing

1. when I click on an URL or link, the new page doesn't replace the existing page but opens in a new window. You can do this by right clicking on the link and selecting "Open in new Window".2. While the internet explorer is open on any particular page, if I minimise it and double click on the IE icon on the desktop, another seperate homepage opens. This should happen normally. I dragged the IE icon to the Quick Launch bar (near the start button) and just have to click it once to open a new instance of IE.

How do I delete tab browsing when ?enable tab browsing? is not shown as a choice??

A:tab browsing

Confirm which Browser your inquiring about,
I can only assume your using ie11 which I never noticed the disabling tab browsing was not an option any more because I never minded it,
But speaking for ie10 which the option is still there I would suggest rolling back to ie10 if disabling tab browsing is that important to you,

I have a xp machine (xp pro with all updates)

If i share anything and then try to browse to those shares from another pc, ie my laptop or any of the other machines on my home network i can see the box in my network places, i can see all the shares on that machine, but as soon as i try to go to any of the shares explorer just locks up.

Using 3rd party programs like lanscan which find the shares and then try to connect to them and list the contents, they just time out the connection.

for a while some of the shares were accessable and others not, after removing all shares and then re adding them now none of them work :-/

I do have 2 network cards, however i am browsing to the direct IP and not the computer name, so it should be using just the one card.

Hi there,

Recently i've noticed that while browsing there are numerous amounts of pop ups and ads.
I installed a free version of "Panda Cloud Cleaner" and "Panda Cloud Antivirus". As well, I had downloaded "Cloud sysytem booster" and Microsoft security essentials"

The Panda Cloud has been working quiet great as i see there are less pop ups, but not all together gone. Also the panda program is a trial so it will expire soon.

I noticed there were Programs i had not installed on my computer, installing by themselves.
I deleted all of them, and see that they havent appeared again recently.

Additionally, in my Google Chrome settings, I see 2 extensions that i can not delete. One being called "Start Saving", which leads me to believe it is the cause of these popups.

Lots going on.... please help!

Hello marbet,

I would think a webpage, or 'page', is how everything on the internet opens. Perhaps you meant tab?

Go to your internet options. Towards the bottom you will see a section titled, "Tabs". Click Settings and choose how you want tabs to function in your browser.

Let me know if you have any other questions

A:Browsing

You can browse the files on a Windows computer with Windows Explorer.

If you mean browse the internet, you'd first need to connect to free WiFi, then open a web browser, (like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.).

Hi raghavendra and Welcome to Bleeping Computer.A supported hotfix is available from Micro$oft. For Windows XP SP2, the Generic Host Process error can occur on any system at any time. Hi! I am connected to an ISDN line and am always connected to the internet, even when I'm not browsing. I am bothered by these pop ups that come from no where-and my google pop up stopper can't stop them because Im not browsing. I have purchased a spy ware eliminator (spy sweeper) and it says it eliminated all traces of spyware on my computer. So how else can these "pain in the butt" things be killed?

ever since it downloaded, ie8 refuses to open tabs. trying to open links in webpages in a new tab (right click>open in new tab), causes the browser to freeze for about a minute, then the link opens up in a new window. even clicking on the new tab button (ctrl+T) button won't work properly. it only works when i double-click it, and pressing ctrl+T does nothing at all. i've looked in the tabbed browsing options and it is definately enabled. changing other options such as opening links in new tabs or the current one do nothing.
any help is appreciated.

Hey guys.

Recently I was browsing through youtube trying to look for ways of hacking in a game. I downloaded the program then deleted it. That was because I felt like i didn't need it anymore.

So I went back to the gaming website to log on to my account. After typing in the website in the address bar, I hit enter. Instead of sending me to the correct website, it sends me to another website instead.

I've asked friends for help but they don't know how to fix this problem either.
When I google the website, and i clicked on cached, everything shows correctly. Little did i know that all the links though still led to the same website as before.

Is this a bug, virus, malware, etc?

Thanks.
JC

A:Browsing Problems

Hi Dangitsjc,

We can not say that it is a bug, virus or any. Since, it is happening with only one particular website. So, let's first find out where the root cause is. In order to find it out.
First, open your Internet Browser in safe mode. This will disable all the extension and any addons that run along with the IE.
To open a IE in safe mode
just go to start > run > type "iexplore -extoff" (type without quotes " ")

Second, you can try surfing the website under "InPrivate Browsing" and check. For this, click Safety on tool bar of IE and click on InPrivate Browsing. In Private Browsing your cookies will be disabled and it won't save any temporary internet files in your computer Hard Disk.

If safe mode browsing doesn't redirect the browsing website that you browse. Than go to
1.tools from menu bar
2.Select Internet Options
3.Program tab
4.Click on Manage Addons
5. Disable and enable the addons and surf in order to check which addon is the occult.

That's it, hope this helps.

Can anyone help me find a solution to this problem I'd attached my minidump here. I'm not too good with computers so bear with my noobie self.

A:BSOD while just browsing

These were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver)

Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

You might consider going to IE7?

Otherwise the most simplistic possible fix is to open the IE6, clear cache in Tools, close IE6, reboot and see if you have the same on-going problem.

Hello,

I just moved to a new laptop running Vista Business. I use Firefox (latest version installed, plus fasterfox and adblock). I also have Zonealarm free and Avast! installed and running correctly. I have connected to my home wireless network and noticed that my old laptop running xp pro, zonealarm, and Nod 32 is a lot faster in accessing pages. The current laptop works fine otherwise, and is quite fast. Access to the internet is fine -- I get no errors or anything. I just would like it to be quicker, as I think it can be. What should I be looking for?

Thanks for your help!

A:Sluggish Browsing

Recently on my system at home (running Zone Alarm Pro) I've noticed that the firewall has been substantially slowing down traffic for whatever reason. I haven't investigated if I just need to update ZA as I know there was a recent security update that they have been bugging me with (via a pop up).First and foremost, I would run a speed test with ZA enabled and then disable ZA (Right click on the icon down by the clock and choose Shutdown Zone Alarm) and then run another speed test. Currently I would recommend http://www.speedtest.net for that speed test.

I've been painstakingly dealing with viruses and trojans the last two days, and I've finally removed them all. My hijackthis log is clean and virus scans and all other scans also appear clean. However, since all of this, my browsers, IE and AOL have not been displaying pages properly. Many pages are not aligned properly, and advanced pictures and videos are not loading. Far less problems with Firefox, most things there are displaying properly, but not all of them. Also, all the elements of my aol mail are not displaying properly. When I open the email, I can not see who is sending me the email, and to who else the mail was sent. I'm afraid I may have deleted something I shouldn't have in the registry, or something like that.
I opened my c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc HOSTS file, and here is what it said...

127.0.0.1 localhost
64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com

I'm not sure what the second line is.
Thanks.

A:Web Browsing Problem

Did your Comcast service have an install disc? If it did, did you do an uninstall of the SBC install software before installing the Comcast disc? If I remember correctly, they both make changes to your hosts file. Is there a firewall in your Comcast modem? If so this could be blocking sites you were previously able to view.

Hi,

I have a ADSL connection and use IE6 and Mozilla Firefox for web browsing. The problem is that it can take up to a minute to load any webpage (hotmail.com or whatever) - there are no other programs connected to the net when I try this. This pc is 1 month old with up-to-date AV so I can't see how it could be a virus problem.

It isn't a problem with the ADSL because when I connect my laptop to the same connection the browsers work fine. Also, when I use programs like bearshare, gnutella, outlook on my pc I get really fast download rates. Even when I download directly from a site (right-click - save-as...) I get really fast downloads - it's just going from page to page that's really slow.

Anyone any ideas on what could be causing this??? It's driving me mad.

Thanks.

A:Really Slow Web Browsing

Unfortunately, AV progs are not sufficient to protect your system. Since the connection is not the issue, and you are doing well when you bypass the browsers, I think that there is a good chance you have a bug. Try the instructions below and see if you get any positive results.

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Download and install Spybot S&D. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Let us know your progress!

A:[SOLVED] 32 bit browsing on 64 bit XP

Ok solved, I'll post just incase anyone else has this problem.

First of all you have to manually delete all plugins, you can find most of them by going to the mozilla/plugins and deleting all files and also typing about:plugins into firefox and finding the rest of the directories and deleting them there.

Do the same for IE, make sure all plugins are deleted. Secondly, if you have .net framework 3.5 SP1 installed, uninstall it.

Voila, restart your PC and it should be back to normal.

A:Something very strange happens when browsing...

That looks like the 'Google' "G". Do you have the Google toolbar installed or do you have this? Internet Explorer 8 optimized for Google which states: "Preinstalled Google Toolbar". My guess whatever it is going on, Google has something to do with it.

Hello

I'm new here. Hope to feel welcome.

I keep getting this VERY annoying warning everytime I got to a new site or click on a link, even when I'm viewing my email...

The "Current site:" and "Internet site" are not always the same.

Some times it will give me a break for a day or two, then others, BAM BAM, one after the other.

It's gotta be something in my IE security settings, but what? I've tried going with default, higher, lower and custom. Nothing stops it.

Any ideas?

after downloading and installing these drivers (i even installed the Microsoft Secruity Essentials Free Antivirus).

A:Web Browsing Slowness With P2p

Sam,

The statement you referred to is correct, SP2 put a limit on tcp connections which can affect your p2p program. Reading about your issue I suggest adjusting the throttle control of your uploads/downloads in BT. The statement that p2p programs to not hog your bandwidth is false.

Hi all,

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum.

I'm having a problem browsing certain sites listed here:

www.flickr.com/

www.eve-files.com/

www.netgear.com/

There are others i also have problems with whilst randomly surfing. The problem is not restricted to my own PC but also my sons, we are on a wired network. This leads me to believe its the router that maybe the problem.

Also i am having problems connecting to an online game i play the error message it gives me is "bad proxy connection"

At this point i should point out that I'm useless with computers:P

Router is: Netgear rangemax DG834N

Os: windows XP

I have scanned my PC with AVG Spy bot and Adware all seem to come up clean.

Any help provided would be greatly appreciated:)

Hi boys and girls,

back to pick your collective brains once again.

I've been having some problems with viewing e-bay. Most other web pages seem to be working fine with no problems, but when i try to sign into e-bay the site becomes non responsive.

When i search, i get the usual list of results, i can generally view the first item, but then once i hit back, every other item becomes impossible to view.

When clicking on the link, the page looks as if it is building and the progress bar shows it starting to load but nothing happens. I get the message, saying " done " in the bottom left hand corner of the browser window but the content hasnt changed.

Rather odd, and completely frustrating.

As always, would very much appreciate your help,

Afternoon all I've noticed something last night that bothered Issues More Browsing me Following on from my problems with accessing e-bay as mentioned in my previous post it now appears that this issue is affecting both of the computers in More Browsing Issues the house when using the wireless broadband Oddly both of us work More Browsing Issues for the same company and when we bring our laptops back into work and connect via the office LAN we dont experience the same issues I understand there will be proxy settings applied to the office LAN but is it possible that there is an error caused by settings as applied by our ISP More Browsing Issues at home Also annoyingly when i tried to access www bleepingcomputer com from home i entered the address corretly into the address bar only to be redirected to a search results page as if i had typed it into Google Then when clicking on the link for the site i was getting a page not found error Again on the same computer in work i can now access the page successfully It seems our issues are not limited to e-bay as certain sections of other websites will not load but yet a diagnostic on the equipment suggests that the system is working perfectly and there are no problems All very strange and frustrating that it applies to a seemingly limited selection of sites Any thoughts

The most recent crash was Related to vwififlt.sys Virtual WiFi Filter Driver from Microsoft Corporation. It is causing the TCPIP.sys driver to crash.

The earlier ones are related to various things but several point to tcpi.sys

I would run a system file check to verify the OS drivers.

Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.

Hi! Recently I was able to get rid of "Personal Antivirus" thanks to this website. But now I have another situation. In the past I've had some "Not Responding" problem, meaning, that I get that situation more than I would like, but in the past few days it's become more frequent. The webpages are loading very slowly; when I have a webpage minimized and try to maximize it, it takes too long to do it. I don't know if it has to do something with the things I did recently to get rid of the "PA" or if it just too much "traffic" in the web... I sure could use some help with this...

I am using a laptop and when browsing pages and thier links i used to tap on the pad and my link used to open in a new tab, i have not altered any settings and now links open in a new window when i tap the pad.
It seems that i have to now right click and select "open in new tab" which i know isn't to much bother but it is rather annoying.
Can anyone shed some light ?

Why is it that early in the morning when I check my email or browse the web, it seems to be faster. And later on in the day, signing into my email or going to websites takes more time. Internet speed seems to be faster for me in the morning hours. Is there a reason behind this?

Love,
Madeline

A:Browsing speed

Normally this has to do with bandwidth and location. Usually during peak hours, internet traffic is at it's highest. This usually is regional as people in the states will be hitting high traffic webservers during the day. Depending on where you are in the world, internet traffic can vary during certain times.

Hello,
When I use my computer tyo browse the internet it has become very slow. I use Tiscali broadband to access the internet. I have done some speed tests from their web site which show I have speeds comparable to dial up. I need to get to grips with what factors can influence speeds when accessing the web. Are there any tools around to access how my computer is set up to access the internet and check if the settings are ok ?

Also it seems that my web pages are being updated with new search bars ie google search bars without my knowledge.

Also when I click on video links from say the bbc site, the computer beeps and no video starts up ??????

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks,
Dave.

A:Web Browsing Very Groggy

Hi leicster25

A good first step would be to check for malware infection. These can disrupt your communication settings, as well as use up bandwidth without your approval. Run your scans on as "thorough" and "high" settings as possible, and scan from both normal and Safe Mode. If you find that your system has a serious infection, try the 5-Step Security Checklist --- http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...kthis-log.html

Scan for rootkits, too --- http://www.pcsupportadvisor.com/rootkits.htm

Once the system is clear of any infection (or if it was already clear) - if the Internet is still slow, try resetting your broadband "modem" device (power it off for a few minutes, then power it on again). Check with your ISP to make sure it is setup OK.

If everything seems setup OK, and the system was not infected at all, you can try using Windows XP's utility "System Restore" - and go back to a restore point from before the slowdown (Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore). If the system was infected, you can try the Winsockfix tool, and see if it helps --- http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=257 (create a restore point in system restore just before trying winsockfix - just in case it makes things worse rather than better!).

Best of luck
. . . Gary

First off I know that browser safety and tracker free browsing are not specifically Windows related but since unsafe browsing might result in getting a virus a key-logger or more realistic a ton of tracking cookies you don't want it's quite relevant It's very important to Safe browsing be safe on the internet and to know what companies and websites are doing with your data and so I thought you guys might be interested Safe browsing in this tutorial That said today I will instruct you on how to keep your browsing safe from the ever watchful eye of the Big Brother For those who immediately think quot ugh tinfoil hats and conspiracy theories quot you are wrong Your internet activity is being tracked and it has nothing to do with paranoia Nearly everything you do online even in safe browsing and private browsing is being recorded and archived The next question you might ask is quot why should I bother quot or maybe you think quot I've got nothing to hide quot This couldn't be further from the truth Your personal information can easily be used against you in fact it's one of the most effective tools for influencing people Your browser records might put you into the quot risk group quot of users your message logs might be found extremistic and they can be categorized as evidence in court your Facebook friends can be used for finding you in case you commit a crime etc Basically sacrificing your privacy puts you at someone else's mercy Step one Now let's get to it starting with your browser Firefox is in my opinion currently the safest one not only it has capabilities for installing safeguarding addons all of it's user-independent automatic activity can be regulated or disabled Internet Explorer and Opera are useless - too many vulnerabilities and zero to none modification capability Those of you who use Chrome prepare for a shock your browser is basically a direct activity feed to the Google database And using Chromium or RSware Iron isn't any better - despite the claims that Google trackers were removed from them they are no different being nothing but a ploy to lure more paranoid users into thinking they are safe For this tutorial uninstall your current browser for tutorials on how to uninstall IE read this one Internet Explorer - Uninstall or this one Internet Explorer - Install or Uninstall in Windows and install Firefox Step two Your browsing habits are the next thing that needs to be changed Google and everything associated with it is your main enemy It tracks everything starting with your searches and e-mails and ending with stuff you type into Google Translate Same goes for Facebook Twitter MySpace and every social network there is - all your activity is being recorded First of all get rid of Google Use startpage com ixquick com and duckduckgo com for your web searching needs Startpage gives you exactly the same search results as Google minus the tracking the other two are useful for finding things Google doesn't like Next get rid of Gmail as it reads all your mails Use hushmail com instead The next step is to delete all your social media accounts Many people aren't going to do this neither did I but if you are willing to sacrifice social media for online privacy and security I recommend you to at least read this step first delete your Facebook account Do not simply close it this just gives you stimulus to open it again discard it entirely Same goes for your Youtube Twitter etc Basically all of your traces shoud be gone from Google-associated websites Do not get worried about losing contact with your friends - Skype and even Miranda are still safe to use Step three And now we arrive at our main point customizing your browser First of all tell your Flash Player to stop storing anything on your computer don't worry this won't affect any video playback or flash games Go to Control Panel gt Flash Player gt tick the box saying quot Block all sites from storing information on this computer quot gt click quot delete all quot gt clic... A:Safe browsing

I think you are confusing tracking with unsafe browsing - being tracked isn't necessarily unsafe. Firefox being safer than any other browser is also an opinion, not fact. I use Chrome and other Google products and have never been swamped with advertisements - besides, its the price you pay for free products.

I think you need to explain that using some add-on's interfere with the functionality of some websites - for example, using some of the Ghostery options prevents the tutorial search function here at SevenForums.

I think your tutorial is more of a 'prevent tracking' than 'safe browsing' tutorial.

This problem is on a machine running XP Professional. It browses the internet just fine but when it comes to ebay, it doesn't fully work. The problem is with ebay motors. I go to search for cars and the attached screen shot is what I get. I click on the motors.shop.ebay.com link and then I get the next screen shot... What gives?

I operate a desktop pc with Windows XP Home OS and Internet Explorer Uncontrollable Browsing Web as default browser The pc is protected by my isp s own antivirus and firewall software in addition to Microsoft s firewall and Windows Defender malware facilities I have also installed Avast antivirus malware software and the Skybot antispy malware programme For a long period of time everything was operating without problems untill about three days ago my browser appeared to have acquired a mind of its own It now screens substantial numbers of unsolicited websites some offensive and most of which funnily enough require personal details to be given I have installed and now fully uninstalled the firefox browser the result being the same Likewise with IE reinstalled and reset Uncontrollable Web Browsing to default settings with no improvement I have scanned Uncontrollable Web Browsing through Avast Skybot and Windows Defender all with a negative result Each of them gave Uncontrollable Web Browsing the pc clearance By routine everytime I close the computer I completely delete the browsing history cookies and all I have tried putting the unsolicited websites onto the quot blocked quot list but to no avail If anything the problem appears to be getting worse Any suggestions as to how to resolve the mystery would be very much appreciaed nbsp

I am running XP media center with SP 3. I am having difficult logging into certain sites, and I know it is related to cookies. I normally use IE 8 or Safari. I have also tried Firefox. Some sites I that I go to I have no problems, others I have difficulty accessing or shopping. For instance, when I go to amazon I cannot add anything to the cart I get an error saying I must have cookies enabled. I am running Komodo firewall, AVG 8.5 free and I have disabled them and still no luck. My security settings are low and I accept all cookies but still have problems.

Please help!

hi quick question : do i need a password to browse the web (surf the net?)? i know that i need a password for email's, for facebook, twitter, for shopping on line, etc and other promotional advertising sites. but to just do web browsing, is that different? thanks

A:password for web browsing

Generally speaking, no password is needed to "do web browsing". You might need one to connect to the internet depending on your ISP.

A:Browsing Errors

Try these commands, but also if you know how to reset your mode/router to default settings.

Run CMD as an administrator or open CMD ? Command Prompt (Admin).

Now Run below command one by one.
Copy and paste each one at a time so you get them right

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /all
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew
netsh int ip set dns
netsh winsock reset

Now Restart your PC.

Lately there's been a BSOD going on that only seems to happen when I browse the web (I do this daily so it's hard to tell). It's happened twice since 11/29. I try to navigate to/on a web page and I get the BSOD. No specific website.

Here are the files.

Hey folks, I am running the following setup

W7, 64 bit home premium Retail version
This system originally had vista installed, it was updated to w7 at launch.

Hardware is approximately 1.5 years old, with video card being slightly older.

I recently reinstalled my CPU with a new heatsink and thermal paste, hopefully I did not mess that up but I'm hoping you can tell me where the problem lies.

Here are the files requested in the sticky. Thanks in advance!

A:BSOD during web browsing

Dump blames Hardware (STOP 0x124)
Read this STOP 0x124 article: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

I wonder if this is coming from the Intel CPU?
Remove Tages Software as they are known cause of BSOD with Windows 7.

Remove Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120%. They use a file sptd.sys, which is notorious of causing BSOD with Windows 7. Use this SPTD uninstaller when it is removed: http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads

You may use MagicDisc as an alternative: http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/mi...c-overview.htm

Hi Guys,

Had a BSOD while the only app running was chrome. Three instances.

1. iGoogle
2. A Chrome Gmail App.
3. The active instance a chrome app pointing to Fictionwise eBooks: Free eBooks, eBooks for your iPhone, BlackBerry, Android device, Symbian Mobile Phone, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Palm handheld, PC, Mac and more!

My first BSOD for 6 months. The previous was due to a non compatible app.

Other info:

1. sfc /scannow ran clean.
2. Had a disk marked dirty last week. Checkdisk ran clean.

Crash reports attached. Hopefully nothing sinister.

A:BSOD While Browsing

Hi kado897.

STOP 0x0000003B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory

Your latest dump file lists ntkrnlmp.exe as the probable cause. This is a Windows System file and for it to be the cause of your crash is highly unlikely.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

As a Priority:

Norton is known to be a cause of BSOD's on Windows 7 systems. I suggest that you uninstall Norton using the Norton Removal Tool ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe in Safe Mode. Download Blue Screen friendly Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled!

Outdated Drivers. Update: You have many outdated drivers. I'd make my first ports of call to be my O.E.M. and Mobo Mfr's. support sites for updates, before using links provided.

I have a PC running XP SP2 and recently connected it to mobile broadband by adding a wireless USB adapter. There are no problems with other devices connected to the broadband and settings show the PC is connected. The problem is that some websites are accessible when their address is entered in the address bar and others are not. A couple of times a box appeared saying there was something wrong with security on the site but this is not happening consistently. Also, the problem does not seem to be related to whether the address starts with https. Could the problem be a security setting in the browser I'm using - IE6?

A:IE6 browsing problems

Many websites are no longer designed to work correctly with IE6. (It's over 14 years old).

While browsing, regardless if it's in IE, Google Chrome, etc. the loading of web pages is incredibly slow. The speed of gaming and downloading on my computer is fine but the browsing speed is terrible. This became a recent problem after restoring my computer after fixing it from malware. I have run virus protection and spyware/malware detectors and they don't find anything. Do you have any ideas of what to do or what is causing my browsers to run slow?

A:IE Tabbed Browsing

You can go IE menu TOOLS \ INTERNET OPTIONS on general tab you will see your hopepage address than you can add your other website addresses there . So when you open your IE it will show tabs each website.

Funny problem I have now after installing XP SP2. I can't browse using IE 6.0 unless I deltree the running process files listed below using the Task Manager:-

alg.exe - in SP2 pack
smc.exe - Search can't find it
itask.exe - Search can't find it

The Windows Security Center running in XP SP2 shows Windows Firewall & Auto Updates ON. Turning them OFF makes no difference to the situation. No Anti-anything software runs on my PC. It is a new installation & have just about loaded Win Office XP & & my Internet connection. That's all. Anyone, help me please. It's downright sickening deltreeing the mentioned running process files every time I boot up & get connected to the NET to browse.

A:Browsing problem

alg.exe - ALG is an integral part of ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) and ICF (Internet Connection Firewall) in Windows XP. If you use Windows XP?s Internet Connection Firewall, you must have ALG running. If you use a 3rd Party firewall, set ALG to manual in "Control Panel \ Administrative Tools \ Services".smc.exe - This one has to do with Sygate Firewall. Are you using Sygate? If you are, you need to disable Windows Firewall.Running 2 firewalls together could cause conflicts, causing both to become inoperable.itask.exe:Is this one spelled right?Sure it's not, atitask.exe

Hi All,

I have a very strage problem that I cant seem to figure out. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable and its driving me crazy that I can figure this out.

I am running wireless in my apartment, it has worked fine with no problems for about 6 months. But now it seems I have an intermittin issue where it does not want to find any sites at all for about a minute then it goes back to running normal.

I have done virus cans, spyware scans, I have my HJT log posted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, almost forgot this also happens even when connected to the cable modem directly, I first thought it was the wireless router, but I guess its not.

A:Browsing Issue

I have COX Cable . They came and replaced the run between the house and the pole because squirls were nibbling on the coax . The cable tech showed me where it was chewed . He said moisture was get in the line and degrading the signal . I'm not saying you have a squirl problem but you may have a damaged coax . I would lose signal for 8 to 12 hours . After he replace it I haven't had a problem . That's been 14 months ago . Also check your cable connection coming from the wall . Next time you can't connect try //192.168.100.1 . that is the status screen on the modem (atleast on mine) .

Hiya,

I am currently running Win 7 on my pc, but recently, in the last three weeks, the computer has been running slower and slower (my main problem is with browsing the web,) my connection is fine, and i can download with no problems using something like bittorrent, but cant download through google chrome or IE. The loading of webpages keeps timing out after a minute of loading or so, and on a whole multitude of websites.

I have ran Malwarebytes, Mcafee, and AVG, and none of these has thrown up any problems, so i am at a bit of a loose end.

Not sure if this is related, but the computer restarts itself every now and again, i cant find any particular pattern, or cause of this, It doesnt seem to happen more often whether im using the internet, programs, or just running idle.

Really appreciate any help you can offer.
