Preferred Solution: What browser to use!!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: What browser to use!!!!

Hmm... I've been using Chrome for a year or two now and I'm not having any problems. I use it on both my 32 and 64-bit W7 systems as well as my XP box. The only issue I have is with one of my bank sites not being compatible with Chrome. If it weren't for that I'd stay with only Chrome. I occasionally go play with the other browsers to see if there's anything that draws me away but I'm always drawn back to the simple and FAST front-end that Chrome presents.

However ... the next best one that I've seen is Firefox. It's a superior browser. Give it a look.

You will run into many opinions on this. It's the same deal as programmers and their editors... it becomes very religious!

So the other day my browser was being redirected when clicking on my search results. The browser would also shut off automatically. I downloaded MalwareBytes, AVG and SuperAnti Spyware the only thing they found was Exploit.PDF. Now the AVG components have been removed, so nothing is running that can really protect me, Ive run Highjack this so i have the log files for that. I can log into windows in normal mode, i can browse the internet, after "removing" Exploit.PDF the browser re-direction has been reduced but still occurs as well as shutting down firefox.Any help would be great. ThanksEdit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Hi,

I'm pretty sure I'm infected with something. Looks like I was asked to upgrade my Flash software but apparently it wasn't a legite Adobe. I did a quick search on Conduit search and toolbar removal, as this is what I saw on my IE next, with urls being redirected to some non-existing ones, IE home page was changed to something else (though I tried changing it back from Internet Options). Can you please help?

This will help us diagnose your problem. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.(If you are not sure which version (32-/64-bit) applies to your system, download and try to start both of them as just the right one will run.)Start FRST with administator privileges.Make sure the option Addition.txt is checked and press the Scan button. When finished, FRST will produce two logs (FRST.txt and Addition.txt) in the same directory the tool was run from. Please copy and paste these logs in your next reply.

My computer has been running slow for months, but it is now getting to the point where it is almost unbearable. For example, just clicking on a folder to open it can take up to 15 seconds to respond. It also lags a ton during internet browsing. Help please!

Your logs suggest the possibility that your computer was attacked by a backdoor trojan. This type of infection allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files without your knowledge.

If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Please read this: How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?

Download Combofix from any of the links below. You must rename it before saving it. Save it to your desktop.

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Place combofix.exe on your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.

Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

The Windows recovery console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery mode that allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal.

Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement.

ComboFix will now automatically install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console onto your computer, which will show up as a new option when booting up your computer. Do not select the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console option when you start your computer unless requested to by a helper.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see a message that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

Your desktop may go blank. This is normal. It will return when ComboFix is done. ComboFix may reboot your machine. This is normal.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me Agent ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
If I instruct you to download a specific tool in which you already have, please delete the copy that you have and re-download the tool. The reason I ask you to do this is because these tools are updated fairly regularly.
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.____________________________________________________It appears you're infected with an infection known as ZeroAccess.ZeroAccess (Max++) Rootkit (aka: Sirefef) is a sophisticated rootkit that uses advanced technology to hide its presence in a system and can infect both x86 and x64 platforms. Hello Everyone,

I unfortunately let my security software expire and immediately fell prey to malware. I downloaded malwarebytes and ran a scan. The program found trojans, etc and supposedly removed them. The problem with my redirects and unseen commercials still exists. Help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Here is the SysInfo, to be followed by hijackthis log, DDS text, Attach text, and Gmer.

Hi,Please do the following:Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:Link 1 Link 2 VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop * IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts. As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures. Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.Notes:1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.

Hello! I have seen this problem posted a lot, but I gather that each solution is taylor made, so here it goes:

As other people, I have this problem of random browser redirects when clicking on some links, as well as the annoying popup (sometimes in a cellphone shape) on the lower right corner of my browser's windows (either IE9 or Firefox 14). I have gone into the two browsers' plug-in or add-in controls and disabled anything that I did not recognized as installed by me. This has diminished the problem somewhat, as sometimes the popup comes out empty, but it still comes up.

I am running on Windows 7 Ultimate.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Pedro

I have FF 17. The mouse is freezing in facebook & I find the only escape to release the browser is reboot. The same FB page works fine in internet explorer.

Try CTRL+Alt+DELETE or ALT+F4 to turn the Browser off ... I have no idea why this is happening. Might be a bug in FF 17. Was it there in FF 16?

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop that is running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2.

Recently, I've noticed that when using Internet Explorer, occasionally, I'll click a link in Google and it will open a 'generic' search site that has nothing to do with the original Google link. Also, the browser will unexpectedly close for no reason.
There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to these two occurances - i.e. I can't reproduce either one with specific actions - they occur seemingly completely randomly.

Suspecting a virus, I went to manually update McAfee VirusScan and then scan the system, but get the following error:
"The ordinal 1112 could not be located in the dynamic link library WSOCK32.dll.

Of course, I suspect something suspecious on the computer.... How do I check/scan begin to diagnose/fix the problem?

Thanks!
D

Welcome to TSF!!!

Hi,

What extensions and addons do you have installed? Are there anything that blocks images, that might be causing the problem.

Cheers!

Hi everyone,

I have this issue where the default browser is opened randomly, and when I try typing in the browser search it keeps getting refreshed endlessly. I ran AVG internet security 2014, AdwCleaner and Junkware Removal Tool, but the issue still exists. I would appreciate some support on this.

I've recently started having issues of my internet browser stalling when trying to open. I have & use google chrome and IE and both stall while attempting to open. This happens randomly.
My network is online and modem seem to be ok and shows I am connected to the internet. I notice when i attempt to open my web browser, my send/receive
modem lights do not blink. When I restart my laptop, all is normal.
So I have mcfee did a scan, no issues found, and also used malware bytes, no issues found.

I noticed in my "action center" I have a list of "stopped working" summary's for internet explorer.
The problem event name for it is APPCRASH.
So I dont know if this is a very hidden virus or what.
I have a Windows 7
service pak 1
64bit OS

Any advice of what this issue could be would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Browers, either Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, go into the internet, however after about 1 - 2mintes of use, everthing freezes. If I go into att e mail, it ceases taking commands. Chrome will also stop taking commands.

I ran AD Ware, also system tools like defrag and clean disk. Also ran Reg Cure. Nothing seems to help. This is a new problem. I don't know whether to use system restore or not...I'd rather not. Do you think it will help?

These problems are so damned annoying. Microsoft and other are just using us all for guinea pigs for their deficient software.

Can you guys help on this? 44 guy

A:browser opens then after a minute or two everything freezes and get browser not respoding

Are you positive that it is only in internet browsers? or is it possible that it could be in other stuff also?

It seems suspect that the whole computer freezes only in a browser much less more than one browser.

I would check hardware and make sure that something else is really going on.

I personally would at least test RAM for errors and also hard drive.

To further narrow it down, does this also happen in Firefox? (look at event viewer also).

Alot of stuff i know, but test this stuff and let us know.

Recently installed the latest version of Avant browser. I have set it not to be my default browser or to check if it is default on start up. I have Firefox set as my default browser and to check if it is on start up. The problem is every time I launch Avant and use it it makes itself the default browser. I know this because when I launch Firefox it says it's not the default and also if I wan to set it as the default. I do and when I use Avant again it steals the default browser setting again. I asked about this on the Avant forum and nobody has a solution. Most people on the Avant forum use that browser as their default so they don't care if it makes itself default. Any suggestions on how to stop this? I find this behaviour from a browser to be malware like.

A very simple question - but just to confirm this - I'm using Windows 10, gmail.com, and Internet Explorer as primary default browser, do not wish to remove. Could I open up a different browser and email account besides IE or Chrome (ex: mozilla, opera, avant, or whatever) NOT using google/gmail, and NOT changing my primary browser?

Thanks

Is there a way I can make the links open in IE, but leave my default browser set as Firefox?

Man in the Browser.

In a classic MITB attack, It's a very likely that what the user is seeing on his/her browser window is not something which the actual server sent. Similarly, what server sees on the other end might not be what user was intending to send. Why MITB? How different is it from conventional browser hijacking?Click to expand...

A:Portable Browser :- How to be my Default Browser and/or use a URL Link

May be geekier ways, but an easy way might be this:

Change Default Browser

Looks like with portable browsers, you will have to manually set the path.

I have my default browser set to Mozilla Firefox. I have a few links to streaming radio on my desktop that only work with Internet Explorer, so if I want to just click the shortcut to the station, I have to set my default browser to IE. Is there a way I can make the links open in IE, but leave my default browser set as Firefox?

A:Open link with browser other than default browser?

A workaround would be to open IE, get your music going, then minimize IE and open FF or if it's already open, just go back to it.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Download CWShredder and click on Fix (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you). If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here.

Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 search.netscape.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch

Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Section and use the tools provided.

Client has SharePoint 2010 project server.
When the user clicks on a Excel file, the file open in the browser and when the user click on "open in Excel" we receive the below message
"To open this workbook, your computer must have a version of Microsoft Excel installed and your Web browser must support opening files directly from Excel in the browser."
Below is the browser version

However when the same is tried/accessed through a browser deployed on a dev machine, it works normally. Below is the version of the IE on the DEV server

What is causing this to happen?
Is there any tool to check the difference between the IE settings on my Desktop and the dev box.

A:Browser wars: Pick your top browser

From me, in a single word, 'cause I've posted so many of them elsewhere on our site: FIREFOX. I will recommend this, and installing Java Runtime Environment (latest), for the foreseeable future to everyone to have along side of IE. It is worth it to let IE idle at times. (most of the time IMHO)

A:Browser freeze (regardless of browser type)

Feeling naked without AV on my computer, I downloaded and installed the free McAfee software from Comcast and turned on my Windows XP firewall.

Surfing fine for about a day, then my browser just froze while trying to load a map from maps.google.com

What is the common thread among the random websites that lock up my browser? dunno.

My machine specs are:

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600
Processor: x86 Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 3 GenuineIntel ~2992Mhz
Physical Memory: 512mb

Have not been able to use internet explorer or firefox for a few months. The aol browser seems unaffected. What I mean by hijacked is that the browser will only browse for a second or two and then returns to the google search page. I am a terrific auto mechanic but I get lost with computer infections. I have the log files saved to my desktop as per the instructions in the guide. Do I post a log file here? Can someone help?

A:Browser Issues, Problem with ISP or Browser?

Hi prays,

Next time this happens, can you look in your Events log. Can you let us know of any errors in red that show in your Event Log:-
Windows Key+R and type eventvwr.msc into the box and hit Enter. Double click on 'System' on the Right and then click on the 'Type' tab at the top to sort the errors into their categories. (easier to find). Where there are ones in red that relate to the time/ date area of the shut downs, can you tell us the EventID and Source for each one (most regular ones). Do the same for 'Application' as well.

Also, does this only happen on one particular site, or any site?

I don't know what happened but everytime that I am browsing my computer an IE browser opens up and goes to browser-security.microsoft.com but the page doesn't open up and it leaves me with the browser open without anything happening to it. I'm not sure of how to get rid of this problem. Please help if this problem can be removed from the computer...

I do have HJT on my comp, but unsure of which files to fix and which ones to leave.

I have Windows 98 on a Toshiba laptop. Last year I had a browser hijacker which you helped me remove with HJT. Now I am having troubles with my browser again. It occassionally freezes up when I'm online. It even freezes up when I'm offline. Then when I try to get back online, everything freezes up and I have to reboot. Then I can get back online. I notice that the home address is removed and the address line is often blank. Since last year, I run Spybot (v1.3) and Adaware (v.6.0) regularly. They help temporarily, but then the problem keeps re-occuring. I'm suspecting that I have something affecting my browser again, Can you help?

Hello,

I'm getting pop up ads that will either open a new window, tab or will overlay my current page. Prior to coming here, I tried Anti-Malware bytes, Hitman Pro, ADWcleaner, CCleaner and everything seems to only get worse.

Thank you for any help!

My logs are attached.

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster. NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of hartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer. NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions.Security CheckDownload Security Check by screen317 from here.Save it to your Desktop.Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.Run Combofix:You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal. You can download Combofix from one of these links.Link 1Link 2Link 31. Close any open browsers or any other programs that are open.2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts. When finished, it will produce a report for you. Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stallNote 2: If you recieve an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registery key that has been marked for deletion." Please restart the computer"information and logs"In your next post I need the following

There are several issues that came up when I upgraded to Windows 10. While it is a celebrated and supposedly eye pleasing application, it seems that they have chosen to disregard users and deleted certain preferences from a user's browser.  This makes
it practically impossible for the user to log into several accounts, since every single site requires different types of passwords, and in order for a person to be able to log on to the several accounts, a person would have to carry around a folder with about
100 different account names, user names, passwords, answers to who, what, or where, phone #s & other pertinent information to be able to log onto or recover a lost or forgotten password.I really do not like what Microsoft has done with the new browser.
It looks chick, but to me it's unworkable and a nuisance to use.  If the Cadillac is not broken, why fix it?

I;m using firfox browser but, the problem i'm having is any other site will open up but the main site i use which is NUTRINOPETS it just won't open. It keeps telling me that there is no connection to nutrino pets. What could this be caused from?

A:Web Browser

Hi Judie..

Seems to be a server problem as I'm unable to load the page with either Firefox or IE7.

However, the site is responding to pings but it is a bit slow.

Will probably be sorted eventually - have you tried emailing their support team?

Hello

A friend of mine has just moved over from dial up over to 2 meg broadband ( I know welcome to the year 2007 :)

only problem is since this change over he hasn?t been able to connect to the web via several different web browsers including IE 7 and Firefox??

the strangest thing is that it connects to get windows updates and I'm able to ping sites via the cmd line?

we have tried 3 different routers but still no joy? but if I connect my laptop to the router I can connect to the web straight away?

This problem has been on going for over a month now can any1 please please help!

thanks Nicky

thanks Nicky

A:Web Browser!

Check the connexion settings in firefox and IE7. In firefox, should be something like "connect directly to the internet", and in IE, there shouldn't be any dial-up and virtual network settings (compare the connexion settings you have on your laptop with his connexion settings).

Your friend should also uninstall everything related to his old dial up connexion (older modem,...).

My company has recently blocked the internet at my work just shy of everything but email. HeadQuarters is about 800miles away and is difficult to get in touch with when it comes to unrestricting sites. Here is an example of the irritations; often times our mangers must travel out of town on trips, sites like Priceline are now blocked because they are considered shopping sites. Also, we sometimes buy fork trucks off of ebay, this site is also blocked.

Since our IT is slow with their responses and assistants, I was wondering if usb web browsers were detectable from IT or if my computer was inspected. Also, are usb web browsers anymore vulnerable to viruses than any other type of browser?

A:USB web browser

Sorry we will not help you get around security settings put in place by your company.

Please read the TSG rules before posting again.

For some reason browsers on my PC will not run.. Well not really true. When I start IE8 I have a momentary hour glass then nothing, but when I shut down the computer I always have to stop IE before it will shut down, so it seems to be struggling, running in the background.

All programs that need a browser to run either will not start at all or crash on start up (for instance iTunes). However all other programs (including Outlook) work fine.

IE will however run in Safe Mode, I can browse fine. Tried downloading Firefox, but again runs fine in Safe Mode, but refuses to run when running the computer normally.

After many restarts still the same, accept for the odd occasion when IE starts, but then freezes and I have to shut it down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Stewart

A:Browser Will Not Run

Hi Stewart,

Sounds like you have an issue above browser level - Which could be related to networking. We'll get the simple stuff out of the way first. Have you got any programs installed that regularly update? How about Java, or, as you stated, iTunes? Does that update?

Can you 'ping' websites? - Do not worry about this if you are not sure how to.

Cheers.

Hey TSF,
Currently i'm using Google Chrome, and Would like to cut down
on unessisarry stuff hogging my CPU. My first question is.. How do
I check to see what programs are running in the background and using up cpu
2nd question, which web browser is the best in securuity, not hogging cpu usage, and customizable? I was thinking Opera or IE

A:Best web browser?

Open task manager and click more details, then under processes is where you'll find what is running and open and using cpu>memory>disk>network.

As far as a secure browser, well that's debatable and a personal choice. To mitigate browser security is to use a known search engine that doesn't track and divulge your information...a good one for that is DuckDuckGo. There are also some browser extensions and add-ons to help with this as well.

You will have to do some searches yourself as there are just to many to list and explain.

I am going to help someone tomorrow that has V9 as their homepage on IE, Firefox, and Chrome. They uninstalled it via the control panel, but its still there. Just checking to see if anyone has had this problem and how you got rid of it.

A:V9 Browser

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.Close all open programs and internet browsers.Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.Click on Scan button. When the scan has finished click on Clean button.Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart. Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply. You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.  Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".The tool will open and start scanning your system. Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications. On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Hi baginz, welcome to TSF...

seems like you have tried a lot already.

Do any ping tests yield results for you?

Also, is that PC set to receive an IP address from the router or via Windows DHCP?

I'm looking for a browser that will let me (a) save pages as single files such as mht or maff and let me e-mail actual pages (not just URLs). The only one I know that does both is Internet Explorer, but I dislike it for various reasons.

A:Does any browser do all this?

Firefox has an add-on that will let you save webpages as .mht files, and let you open them, too.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/unmht/
If you want to email the page, you could probably send the .mht file as an attachment. Is that what you need?

Seems like I have a malware on my firefox browser, my Google chrome deosn't have it. I've done a full boot scan with Avast anti-virus and it cleaned the pc up. However, after all this, I still have pop ups on my firefox browser. Please help.

A:Browser taken over by pop ups

Hello FelliMphaka,
it is possible that you have a browser Hijack, or there is a addon or extension in firefox that is giving you
these pop ups, as well as a adware/spyware program that was install via another process or whitest updating a program. You could use Google chrome and log back on here and and use the adware cleaner, to scan your Mach for these type of adware/spyware.
heres a link to help you check the add ons/ and extensions in Firefox/
if unaware of what they usually you can disable it or remove it.

I have had it with IE, somethings I want to do it wont let me, the settings are naff too. I have also had it with Firefox, it does not 'fit' anymore. Chrome is on its way out too, it wont let me cut and paste off the net, an important part of my hobby.

I am currently trialing lunarscape6 on my laptop (win 7) its solid, does what I want (up to now). It uses 3 different engines, I have it set for gecko at present. Only downside to date is it takes a few seconds longer to load as it has to load the engine first.

I googled Browsers for windows and the resulting list only adds to the confusion.

56 diff browsers!!!!

List of Web browsers for Windows

Anybody got a definitive browser that actually is fast, adjustable and does the job.

A:Best Browser For Win 8

So, what are you exact issues with IE, FF and Chrome? Other then ranting about how you're fed up with them does not help us help you.

I use all 3 you mentioned and they all work beautifully and all 3 load up under less than 1 second.

If I were to guess at your problem, I would guess you have a bunch of tool bars loaded that are associated with certain software downloads. Also, that your system is infected with Malware, Spyware and Adware....maybe even a trojan or two. I would run your AV software doing a full scan and then run Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, TDSSKiller, just to name a few...

Again this is just a guess.

Hi recently i've been getting ads on the left and bottom right of my screen. The left one is always a related search and the bottom one is a video. Also when I click a link, any link, like entering one of the forums, it could open up a new tab with a ad.

http://i58.tinypic.com/i1fs6u.png

Two more problems also arise, though one isnt exactly a problem I noticed it has changed.
One is there are extra adds on the google search. Second is sometimes my programs close randomly. Im not very good at technology so I wouldn't know stuff like logs. Please help me step by step

-----EDIT-----
I tried Malwarebytes first, but did not work.
Next i tried adwcleaner and im having zero problems now, hopefully it doesn't happen again. I believe it was done when downloading camstudio

So today i wanted to clean up my pc a bit ( i regret it from the bottom of my heart ) and unistalled a few programs , then suddenly when i started browsing the internet i saw that some sites had their content in different fonts and sizes ( google , wikipedia , paypal and more ) and that my computer was generally running more slow and firefox stopped responding from time to time , there were a number of programs uninstalled including super anti spyware which i think may have had kept some malware in check , i installed malwarebytes andtimalware , scanned , found some malware and deleted them , then i reinstalled firefox and chrome but still the same problems , also the fonts differ in both browsers , i've made screens here http://imgur.com/bht7coU,gnagg16 , first is firefox , second from chrome , i really dont want to install a fresh os and i would really want some help

Yep My wife got it.  It is new to me.  It is on her corp PC that she was using for Snag-a-Job and it hit her...LOL

Anyway, I deal with this stuff all the time but this has me a little puzzled on how it is working.  I ran RogueKiller, TM Anti-Rootkit, TDss Killer, AdwCleaner, looked at the Hijack this logs, ran FRST and collected logs.  I managed to kill the processes with RKill.

I have not ran Mbam yet. I was going to look at the other logs but I have too much going on right at this moment to scan through them.  So any help would be great!

I have some logs ready when you are and TIA for the person that helps.
