I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You can still change the keyboard to write in Arabic. Whether or not you can read Arabic, I dunno But the OS isn't available in Arabic per this statement

Because the RC is not available in Hindi or Arabic, we encourage you to either install Windows 7 RC in another language or reinstall a prior version of Windows before the Beta expires on August 1, 2009.

Just restored a clients machine to a previous restore point, cleaned everything up (virus/malware wise).Only problem I'm having now is some of the elements within windows are displayed in a different language.. I'm guessing Arabic. Already checked Regional/Lang settings, checked HKLM\Sys\CS001\Cont\Nls\Language tooOnly certain items in the CP and various dialogs are in Arabic:How do you fix this??? I believe its keeping me from installing SP3 on this machine as well...

A:Wrong language (Arabic?) in certain dialogs/windows

Hi kisk:

My gut reaction was 'lol' at that screen shot; I've never actually seen the Arabic language pack in use. This was from a malware infection?? But let's address your problem, shall we?

First, let's start off by going into detail about your 'Regional and Language Options'. Was the regional options set to English? In the 'Language' tab, is the 'Text Services and Input Languages' option set to English as well?

Also, are you able to use a Win XP installation CD to repair Windows? If I'm not mistaken, there is an option to select your default Regional Settings there as well. Post back here with more details! Good luck. =)

I clicked something and was greeted by malware that created https popups in Explorer.  Below are the my attempts to correct.

1. Deleted the new programs from the change and remove programs.
2. Ran Mcafee - nothing noted
3. continued to get popups
4. deleted directories with same name "tool bars and extensions"
5. continued to get popups
6. downloaded Malwarebytes and found several pups and quarantined  all.
7. rebooted.
8. No longer can i log in, language seems to be Arabic.
9. I tried to refresh but would not work- it made me log in. this is where i noticed that the language was set to ARABIC 2.

The computer boots fine, I cant read the language and my password does not work.

Would a restore to a restore point reset the langauge? Is there any way to recover this PC?

The computer is a Lenovo laptop, running windows 8.1.

Thanks

Hi all I've been browsing this forum off and on hunting for solutions to my many troubles with Vista over the last several months and I've finally had one that no one else seems to be having or solving For background problem Premium 32bit Home Arabic installation in - language SP2 pack? I am SP2 installation problem in Home Premium 32bit - Arabic language pack? running Home Premium bit on an HP laptop with SP currently installed When I SP2 installation problem in Home Premium 32bit - Arabic language pack? try to install Vista SP from my primary account I am the system administrator it informs me that 'Installation was not successful' due to to a 'system error' It then instructs me to run the quot Check for System Update Readiness quot tool CheckSUR to attempt to solve the problem which I have tried several times Not counting the time I installed it back in April when it first was released The error code in question was TRUST E NOSIGNATURE x b I have run through the entire list of options to try on the Microsoft official help page and have begun to try a few other things in order to solve the problem Most recently I attempted to install the service pack from Safe Mode where it informed me that the REAL problem was that I have a language pack installed that is not supported This confuses me because I don't recall ever installing the Arabic language pack have certainly never been to Saudi Arabia and don't speak or read Arabic The only language pack that shows up in the list of installed language packs when I run LPKSETUP as suggested on another thread here is English Though this WOULD undoubtedly explain why I've been seeing an optional update in my Windows Update dialog for Arabic language support for the Windows Help Needless to say I hid the update but it hasn't changed anything either Out of desperation I have even attempted to remove all the folders marked ar-SA from the Windows folder but this hasn't seemed to affect anything - the service pack still won't install and still gives the same error So you know what I've tried and something of what the problem is The other issue I've been having which may or may not be related is that my quot Turn Windows Features on or off quot dialog shows up blank Much to my annoyance But that's likely an issue for another thread And as it does not appear in Windows Update I have been trying to install SP from the Standalone installer Any help would be greatly appreciated - and thank you in advance

A:SP2 installation problem in Home Premium 32bit - Arabic language pack?

Is there anyone out there who can help me? I'm still struggling with the problem, and as Vista has been rather buggy for me lately I've started experimenting with Explorer alternatives. This has helped, amazingly, and quite a bit, but it's still only a stopgap measure. I need SP2, and the many fabled fixes it brings.

Still getting the same "due to a system error" message from my full boot. Should I try Safemode again, or is that just going to give me the same issue about the language pack? Does anyone know a way to get rid of one of those things?

Or should I just be waiting for the multi-language installation of SP2 in the hopes that that will work? Considering that I only have English listed as installed, though, that seems like a sad option. . .

Hey guys!

I'm a German guy living in Canada. I like my operating systems like I like my women:

1. User interface in English
2. Keyboard layout in German

Except, women don't have keyboard layouts and I like international women, too. But you get the idea.

Now, in Windows 10, I can only select one language for typing and reading. That makes me a sad panda.

So I went ahead and refused to install the German language pack, leaving the user interface largely in English while getting me my nice German keyboard layout. But yesterday, I found that all those native Windows apps (Weather, Maps) are now in German all of a sudden.

It's no big deal since I obviously speak both languages, but I must say, I've become quite fond of my English user interface and German keyboard layout. Insert obligatory But-Ubuntu-Does-It-Better rant here.

Anybody know a workaround? I'm sure there are more expats here who suddenly face this problem.

Hi,

I've got a friend who has his computer in a foreign language and has a problem with it. How do I go about changing this back into english (so i can understand) and also is this possible on the fly? eg. select english and OK it, then the text on the screen will be back in english?

The only method i know of that could possibly convert it back to english is if i go to "Control Panel" --> "regional and language options" -->"languages" tab and then choose "english-- ...".

If anyone could back me up on this or help me out, it would be great. Thank you.

A:How to change PC language?

Basically, you are looking for an utility, which will help you to open up bios and translate it yourself?

Such programs do exist for some BIOS vendors. But problem is, that there are some many vendors and versions of firmwares that it is not possible to create a universal editor. And most of those firmware are available only in English versions.

There will be no visible reaction of Windows 7 to a new BIOS, whether officially patched or not offically (if your won't brick your computer of course and it will start).

There used to be a custom patcher for BIOS firmwares, that allowed motherboards to recognize bigger hard drives. Those things were totally home made and Windows run smothly on those computers with non-orginal firmwares.

Changing bios - whether that is it's language, ability to read bigger HDDs, SLIC information or some other information in it, will take no affect on language of Windows itself (menus & help files).

Language feature of Windows 7 is independent. You would have to have Windows 7 Ultimate, Enterprise (for corporations only) where you can legally change Windows language yourself, but that feature is not auto-configuring (you have to manually select it and download some Language Interface Pack [LIP] files).

I have a friend who is studying abroad from Japan and their laptop broke and they want to get a new one. However, they would really prefer it if the OS language was in Japanese (eg when you press the Windows key instead of 'Computer' it's 'コンピュータ'). I've tried fiddling around with mine, but changing the language seems to only change it for my clock, not the entire OS. I've heard with Enterprise one can freely change the languages in such a manner, but I would like confirmation before I recommend my friend a laptop and buying another OS if it's unnecessary and changeable through some other means...

A:How to change OS Language?

Both Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise editions can be completely transformed to any of the available 35 languages. In addition of the installed original language, the rest 34 are offered as optional updates. Installing language packs is easy and effortless, you can change the display language of all user accounts to what you want to, and set a "master" language in which all new user accounts are created.

For instance all my rigs have user accounts in Finnish, English, German and Swedish. This laptop I am typing this post has an original German Windows 7 Ultimate, the mentioned three other languages available in other user accounts and the master language set to English, meaning that all new accounts created will be English.

Here's some additional reading about language packs:Display Language Packs - Install and Uninstall

Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise

Does anyone know other way to make it happens?

Thanks

Not sure which edition you have, see here...

even Core Single Language editions' language can be changed - more difficult and the proviso is it has to be done offline

Hello everyone. I have Windows 7 Home Premium installed on my laptop (which is my first pc) and it's language is Portuguese. I would like to change it to English or Romanian. Is it possible? Do i need to buy other Windows 7 in one of my desired languages? I'm asking this here because all i found in CP regarding language changing had to do with keyboard or non unicode programs or Windows Live language settings. Other than that i couldn't find anything else. I feel like i should mention i'm totally noob (only 9 months since i have this laptop)

Hello FlorinSabin,

Sorry, but only the Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise editions allow you to change the display language from the original language it was installed as.

If your XP is in English, you cannot change the language of the interface.

You'll need to buy a russian XP installation CD.

Hi,
I hope this Microsoft guide is what you are looking for?
"Windows XP supports more than 100 languages and dialects. Typically, you use one primary language on your computer. However, with Windows XP, you can set up multiple languages, and then switch between them with just two mouse clicks. A multiple-language setup is useful if you often send and receive documents in different languages. If your computer is used in a multilingual household, you can configure each user account with a different language."

This may be a bit of a silly question, and for that I apologize, but I was wondering how you change the language in the start up? Like when the computer is shutting down/turning on, when you wake it up from sleep and enter a PIN, etc.

When I was picking the language in the initial start up, I accidentally chose French because the touchpad was really grippy. I've changed the language back to English for when I'm actually using the computer, but the start up and lock screens are still in French.

I apologize if I'm not posting this in the right place. Any help would be great!

Hello
I have a new laptop with a OEM version of windows 7 Home edition in German, and I would like to change it to English. To run in XP mode, I have upgraded it to Professional, via an English language upgrade, but that has made no difference. The language settings in the control panel do not do the job, just reset keyboard and time and currency display, but I can imagine that there is something in the registry which will define the language that the system uses to display everything.
Anyone know anything about that ?
Thanks for any info

Can someone help me change the language displayed in all the pull-down windows and messages that Firefox uses? I use a laptop at work that I've signed out, and everything displays in Thai. (I'm an American but I live and work in Thailand)  If someone could guide me to changing the language back to good ol' English, I'd be most appreciative. Remember the windows are now in Thai, so you'd have to say ( for ex.)  "Click on the Firefox orange tab in the upper left corner, go down to the 3rd entry, then go over to the right and go down to the 6th entry, etc.)

I know it would be tedious, but it would help me so much.

I think that you need to reinstall firefox with the version made for the locality of your choice.

Download the appropriate version from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/ and install it over the top of the top of the Thai version.

I have used this thechique to change an installed US localsed version to the UK version.

There is a language setting on the content tab of Options, but that controls language preferences passed in the requests to remote webseervers for the pages that you visit.

I recently purchased a desktop computer with Windows 7 64 bit operating system in Spanish. I noticed that unless you have the Ultimate version, there is a steep fee to purchase the language packs. So I used a program called 'Vistalizator.' Worked like a charm and was quite simple to install and of course it is free, unless you want to give a donation.

Anyway, several months later Windows was doing its updates and it must have picked up on the fact that I have modified the program. So now I keep getting a window flash up from Microsoft stating that I am not using genuine Windows operating system.

This is the only thing that I've modified, so is there a program out there that I can run to verify this is actually the problem?

Aside from that, is there anything I can do, aside from re-installing Windows from scratch?

Maybe contact Windows Customer Service and explain. Once you give them all your license info, they are usually pretty helpful.
But then again, if it is an OEM license, they may just refer you to the manufacturer.

But it still might be worth a shot.

I bought my Asus laptop not too long ago but have somehow caught spyware so I decided to just reboot it from factory settings but the language seems to have changed. Using Windows 8.1. I have English and Japanese input languages added, and both are listed as options in the language toolbar, but it is impossible to select anything but English. Windows+Space allows me to navigate to Japanese, but releasing the keys or pressing Enter does nothing. The Left Alt+Shift shortcut also does nothing.

A:Can't change input language.

I installed Japanese input language for the sake of screenshots, let's see if we can fix this for you.

First things first, the basics in using Japanese input language. If input language is installed and enabled, you will see it on your input method selection dialog:
When selected, the Japanese input language shows two icons (my Taskbar is vertical at left, image might look different than the same on your display):

1 = Japanese input language active
2 = Keyboard layout selector (by default Half-Width Alphanumeric)
You have to right click the keyboard layout selector (2) to select either Hiragana, Katakana or Alphanumeric layout to type using the layout you need:
You can also select one of two input methods, Romaji or Kana:
A bit confusing although somewhat logical default behavior of Japanese input language might cause user to think the Japanese is not working, as it defaults to Half-width Alphanumeric keyboard layout which is basically as an English layout, using western alphabet.

My dads friend gave me his old computer but it is currently running in chinese (not sure if mandarin or cantonese). I tried going to the regional options and changing to a random lanugage but it does not work. The only thing that changes is the time either changing frokm regular 12 hours to 24 hours. I googled computer language software but nothing came up. I'm running windows XP, I do not want to reformat the drive or reinstall windows. That is the last option I want to go through with. Anybody know of good language chanign software?

I had bought a laptop from an Arabic country. I know how to change the default language by going to Region and Languages, I already fixed that. However, there is a certain file in C://Users that is still in Arabic! I can open this folder but I cannot rename it in English. Could someone please help me fix this? Thank you!
(Windows 7 btw)

A:How do I change the language for certain folders?

It would be the desktop.ini file located within, it is hidden by default.

A:Windows XP can't change the language!!

Are you talking about Windows itself or Internet Explorer? If it's Windows, it means you have a french version...

when i moved to spain from the uk last year i bought a laptop here
windows 7 home premium was pre-installed
at some point and i don't remember how i changed the display language from spanish to english
i have just bought another laptop which also has windows 7 home premium installed
and i can't work out how to change the display language
the received wisdom seems to be that it is only possible with an upgrade to ultimate
but i didn't upgrade my first machine
is it possible that i reinstalled windows and was therefore able to select english as the default display language?

thanks in anticipation
bas

A:display language change

Welcome to Seven Forums bas1948. It is possible you may be able to change some of the interface language using Language Interface Packs (LIPs).

Quote:
Language Interface Packs (LIPs). LIPs can be installed over any edition of Windows Vista and Windows 7, providing a translated version of only the most widely used dialog boxes, menu items, and help content. You can download LIPs from the Microsoft Download Center by using the links below. To install a LIP, you will need to have the required parent language installed on your PC. If your language is listed as "coming soon," it's on the way—check back here for updates.

But yes, I believe you can choose English at the time of a reinstall as a fix. A Guy

Hello my friend

I bought a new laptop here in japan
But Cant change my language to english
Also cant download language pack

Pls need help,,

A:Cant change language to english

..................Also cant download language pack ....................
Left click at Start button > Settings > Time & Language > left side, click Region & Language > right side, under Languages, click the + sign > scroll and find English > click it > select which English you want English (United Staes), English (United Kingdom), English (Canada) etc > click the selection >
You are now back on Time and language screen > click the English version you selected > click Option > language pack will be offered to you > install it.
When done, you will be back to Time & Language screen > right click the English > click Set as default.
You will have to restart the computer to initiate the switch from Japanese to English as display language.
You will find some items still carry Japanese language, but majority will be in English.

Hope this helps.
I used the same method to switch from English to Chinese as display language.
Adding/editing......................

The followings are screenshots to illustrate the change of English as display language to Chinese as display language.

My keyboard suddenly changed from English UK to English US.

I have tried to change it back in the control panel> regions/languages, but it just reverts to English US every time.

Any ideas please?

Thanks in advance ...Peter

A:Keyboard Language Change

Instead of just changing it, remove the US one entirely. Not sure hoe to do it offhand, mind you.
Should tell you the changes won't come into effect until you reboot, so then you reboot.
